OKfirst off. heads fallen off tonight im so out of it so this will make no sense<3 IRONIC

but for real HELP. i think "crew is not in their right minds" plots can be really hit or miss- like... i say that in a very general sense of the trope, if that makes sense? basically anything where their behaviour is greatly altered by some outside force and they "act weirdly" including, sometimes, possession and the such

because i think when its done wrongly it can sort of be... just really unconstructive? i dont know if that makes sense, per se. because the further you get from your characters, the more detached it is: less consequences; less exploration; less attachment to all of it. like i do think it always needs to be a reflection of something and not just spouting silliness.

theres for suuree some trek examples im thinking of BUT. i actually think buffy always did really good episodes where characters got had their memory/perception of reality severely altered to the point where they were all TOTALLY acting out of character but it was still a commentary on them as individuals. like tabula rasa. i swear theres others (i know there's one in angel too, but yeah)

and obviousssllyyyy this wasnt as, like, as a defined separation in perceptions and thus behaviours but MORESO something akin to like. the naked time or something where its intentionally left a bit more vague, just that theyre all sort of slightly acting out of it and-

AND YOU KNO WHAT...T HE THING IS. at some point i just gotta rate it, man. i DO.

but also like- as i was saying... even STILL. i do think this kinda does still signify the cracks in the team for suresies, even if it was a mad exaggeration. because they have come a long, long way- BUT what i always appreciated was the fact that they really took their time with it, and at the beginning - that is, the beginning of the entire show, not this episode - they werent afraid to show how dysfunctional they were as a unit... like i said a few times... they didnt shy away from making their characters do dickhead things bc it just. literally would make sense for them to be dickheads in the beginning. and what i also liked was the way they built from that slowly and organically. and i think part of tht then means ir skinda like... theres stillll going to be that inherent. underlying messiness

and im also frowning at crichton

because- LIKE... they said he was the least affected. bc he has the worst eyesight. BUT he did kind of- in my opinion- seem the most. you know. unhinged by far. AND he was having those visual hallucinations which none of the others did. and maybe its just visual flair, having scorpy there; maybe its just inconsistencies, or humans lacking a mental fortitude... BUT GUYSSSS I WAS LIKE

UP UNTIL HE STARTED BEING LIKE. ABSOLUTELY UNHINGED. which uh there is one thing i will say. LIKE i thought maybe he was totally unaffected (either by "his human biology" - or something of the sort) and this was just genuinely him snapping - and theyd "fix" whatever the issue was, and he'd still be riled up as all hell, in a classic farscape subvert subvert moment. AND I MEAN THATS NOT THE CASE- AND IM HAPPY ITS NOT- BUT MY POINT IS...

I DONT KNOW. maybe its bc i enjoyed the episode and i dont thinkits just an insane little detour as much fun as it is. somethings up here. crichton baby speak 2 me

but YEAH THATS- thats oneee part i didnt like so much. the bit with chiana. did not rate that. i think 90s shows... YES obviously it was meant to come off badly, and its not like he did anything, and like i said- im usually happy when they arent afraid to have their characters be awful. BUT. that one scene was really pushing it in a way i dont really like. mostly just because it did kinda teeter a bit too much towards shock value and kinda just bc- again, with shows in this era, i know its just... theyre never sooo careful about that kinda thing. trek had its issues (tng, mostly).. and buffy had so fucking many your head would explode. so i dont knock it as much but yeah

HI AND WELCOME TO 100 + 1 REASONS I'M BEGINNING NOT TO LIKE HTTYD:THW

Disclaimer: It might not actually reach 50 reasons because I have a healthy amount of concern for my fingers

It makes sense as the final part of a trilogy, for them to separate, but the whole set up of how the separation goes was...blargh.

Hiccup was not acting like himself.

Neither was Toothless, actually.

Astrid was weaker in supporting Hiccup. I mean, don't get me wrong, she was still as badass as always, but never have I been more uncomfortable with her way of "supporting" Hiccup throughout this entire movie.

"You gave him his freedom, what did you expect?" BITCH WHAT

THIS IS NOT SOME CALL OF THE WILD BULLSHIT WHAT THE FUCK

part of the reason Toothless STAYED even when Hiccup presented him with an automated tail was because he preferred BERK. you know, a civilised, NOT WILD settlement even if Toothless himself was a wild dragon prior

in fact NONE of the dragons were being forced to stay there. Which means they CHOSE to stay with humans.

Why was there no internal conflict between Berk? Why are they all just following Hiccup after some discussion about "Berk is not a place, its the people and our dragons!"??? Just???? They didn't feel like a village at all, is what I'm saying.

For the record, I think Valka and Cloudjumper would have been harder to separate because these two were together for like twenty years why wouldn't they stick together???

Toothless should not have been the King of the Hidden world. there are several reasons.

1 - he was already a bad fucking leader when it came to priorities. he chose his MATE over his FLOCK. what the absolute fuck. 2- in coming to the hidden world, he promptly forgot about the BERKIAN FLOCK THAT HE HAD RESPONSIBILITIES TO. 3- it just doesnt make sense for all dragons to have bowed to him accepting him as their king. Night Furies are deadly, but they are not of the Dragon king breed. Toothless only managed that title because he FOUGHT a fucking dragon of that SPECIFIC breed. 4- he's horny as fuck. I'm sorry, it had to be said. He and the Light Fury have met for, what, a week at most? And already he's in love? Give me a fucking break. but anyways, my point is, if he dropped EVERYTHING HE KNEW AND LOVED for a person he BARELY GOT TO KNOW, then he should not have been made leader in the first place. 5- this is more personal, but fuck the fucking fact that he left hiccup for this unknown stranger. its like his human didnt even MATTER to him at all. which brings me to my next point.

why the ever loving FUCK did the team EVER imply that hiccup and toothless were SOULMATES if all they were gonna do is separate them and have toothless forget hiccup entirely.

are the dragons intelligent, sentient creatures

or are they just wild animals capable of replicating human behavior without understanding the deeper implications of it

because if the latter was true, then what the FUCK was the first two movies for?

the hidden world cannot exist in a geological scale. it cannot sustain itself either. if toothless did somehow recall EVERY dragon, then the ecosystem of the hidden world is suddenly shot to fucking hell.

the movie basically spat to our faces that romantic love is stronger than the power of friendship. and family.

im pretty sure GOTNF was canon, and THW just spits all over its message and story.

what happened to my badass dragon riders, dreamworks?

okay ill be honest A LOT of my issues with this movie are centered around toothless and hiccup

berk did not need to be separated from its dragons. in fact, dragons leaving berk, realistically speaking, would actually be detrimental to berk.

for one thing, theyd be totally cut off from the rest of the world -- they suddenly relocated without any warning, to a place where no one had actually explored thus far. traders would not have known where to find them and, if they were in the merchant thinking mode, would cut their losses and find some other village to trade to. so new berk isnt gonna get any support for a long while.

berk chose an island than can only be safely accessed via dragons. do you see where im going with this?

by choosing to LET DRAGONS GO, hiccup and toothless have now condemned Berk into a generation of hardship, one that will make its people struggle with getting supplies, rebuild their homes, and basically a lot of their basic survival needs.

and MIGHT I ADD, hiccup has REVOLUTIONIZED the viking way of life by INCORPORATING dragons into it. what happens when that system suddenly loses a big chunk of what made that system work?

may i also add that hiccup has also REVOLUTIONIZED the term BIG DUMBASS when referring to decisions that were made.

im also salty about how quickly toothless forgot about hiccup when entering the hidden world. like, holy fuck, i cannot even begin to explain how dreadful i felt when toothless was just "oh fuck yeah" in that glowing neon underground while poor hiccup was like "do you think he's okay?"

if it were me, toothless would at least be having a moment to himself, looking at his tail, and you can clearly see in his eyes, "what about my human? what about berk?" before getting distracted. I would have accepted at LEAST that.

nope. we get a toothless reluctantly going back to hiccup and new berk, resentful and somber as he longs for, what, a home?

goddamn it i hate the hidden world in the movie the hidden world. i like the movie, i really really do, but that fucking plot device grates my fucking brain.

RTTE handled a dragon haven a lot better.

Vanaheim was a perfect place for wild dragons to settle but dreamworks fucking abolished that idea

i KNOW vanaheim is like a resting place for sick dragons but like

if hiccup was half as smart as he was the first two movies thw wouldnt have been a thing in the first place.

its really, really hard for me to defend a movie i liked the first time i watched it when the only things i can see from it are toothless not caring enough about hiccup and hiccup making the niggest mistake of his life.

this movie honestly felt like emotional manipulation. watching it i always remembered the other two movies, which should NOT have happened. when i watched the second movie (and may i add i barely remembered a thing about the first movie at the time) i was so MOVED to the point of TEARS. i had no context and i was moved to tears anyway. THW constantly pulled at my nostalgia strings and indirectly and directly called back to the first two movies and that just....what???

and that's it.

i mean if youd like to add more feel free to, probably missed some there

one last thing: despite the reasons i mentioned above i did enjoy watching thw, im just sayin it took me a long time and a lot of reading to figure out that, no, thw wasnt as great as the hype made it seem.

this isnt meant as an attack to people who like THW. i understand that this movie is special to you and I have no right to take enjoyment from you. im just laying out the reasons of why I personally don't agree with what happened in THW.

What are your OCs' backstories?

OOF ok uh so

theres a lot so ill “condense” it, ill only do the main 3 bc um i have too many ocs

starting with finn, since he was the oldest. his backstory is still a wip, but:

finn was born to a family who didnt want him, and left him on the street, basically. he was found by a man (whose name i still havent thought of oh no) somehow along the way. This man was an artist whose wife recently left him. he raised finn, enrolled him in school, even though he didnt have enough money. they lived on the outskirts of new york city.

back in NJ, lola was born to marisol and martin a couple years after finn. marisol was wery young and naive at the time. she was kind, but people (like martin) often took advantage of her niceness. marisol was a mom but martin was a pretty shit dad; he didnt really like the idea of having a kid and having to stay in one place. He grew to like lola a bit actually, but not really. the idea of having a family really “weighed him down”, although he didnt really admit it. when lola was 5, marisol told everyne they were to have another kid (chiki). martin didnt want another child so he up and left marisol and lola

when sam was born, lola was 2. Sam’s parents are Antonio and Theresa, who where even shittier parents individually than martin would ever be. theresa was an obsessive, nitpicky, overprotective control freak and antonio was a violent and physically abusive alcoholic, they hated each other but at the same time were really dependent on one another so neither of them permanently left the house. sam was pretty much an accident and theresa couldnt have an abortion because antonio’s parents were super super fuckign religious and she didnt wanna be separated from him

when sam was 4 or so he ran away from home and met lola at a park. she kinda took him back to her house but when marisol found out sam ran away she had to take him back home, where (unknown to marisol) sam was beaten as punishment from antonio

shortly after chiki was born (a couple weeks later after sam ran away), lola’s family moved to another town so marisol could get a better job to provide for her family.

over the next couple years sam was enrolled in school and when he was in third grade or so lola moved back. sam and lola became really really good friends though through school, even when lola was in middle school the two really hung out together.

when lola was 13 (in eighth grade), she realized she wasn’t straight, and consulted sam about it. he suggested she tell her mom, when she was ready. a week later, she told marisol about it. Marisol was very hesitant at first (because she was religious), and lola and her mom’s relationship became strained for about a couple months.

when sam was 13 Theresa left the house and took sam with her after she found antonio sleeping with another woman. they drove all the way out to pennsylvania to stay with Theresa’s family, then theresa got a call from antonio begging her to come back. she said she regretted leaving and turned back around. when sam got back to the house that night he decided to commit suicide, only he wasnt sure if he really wanted to, so he drank a ton of his dad’s liquor to see what would happen. he ended up vomiting and passing out

at the same time, lola entered a junior baking competition. she only got second place, but the judges were impressed nonetheless. though she was only a sophomore, she started looking for cooking schools to go to. marisol became less alienated from her daughter and began to be supportive, not only of lola’s passion for cooking, but of her sexuality too.

meanwhile, finn and his adoptive father moved to new jersey for a more affordable living area. finn wasnt in redsdale yet, it wouldnt be until he was in his 20s he’d move there

back to sam: at age 15, antonio and theresa had another really big fight that caused theresa to leave, but this time, she didnt take sam. antonio in a drunk rage kicked sam out and forced him to go look for his mom and that he couldnt come back until he found her. sam looked around the neighborhood for a couple hours, gave up, and went to lola’s house to sleep there. when he went back to his house, he found out that everything was actually ok, his mom had literally just been hiding in the basement the whole entire time. it was at this point sam decided he should leave his house. he got a job at the surf shop down the road, and dropped out of school at 16 to get a second job at the grocery store

when lola was 18 she graduated from school, finally. she had gotten numerous scholarships and went to a school a couple hours away from home. her and sam kept in contact through texting a bit but not much. lola had a pretty hard time in college at first because she wasn’t used to constructive criticism and following directions n stuff. she was pretty headstrong and impatient as a kid but it’s here that she learned to be more meticulous and accept others’ advice. gradually she started to do really good. she became *almost* top of her class towards the end of her second year. she took an internship her third year to work in a kitchen in a pretty fancy restaurant.

when sam was 18, he moved out of the house. life was pretty good as he was able to afford more on his own and do better w/o the stress of his parents. he started exercising a lot more (he had a bit before but his parents starved him a lot (not really intentionally, they were just really neglectful and he wasnt a priority to them)) and was teaching himself self defense/how to fight especially since his parents didnt want him leaving and they might try to follow him

during break for lola and for sam’s 19th birthday, lola took him to a rock concert. this is where sam met lynn. they kept in contact w/ each other for a couple months as friends and then decided to date. for sam and lynn’s 1 month anniversary, sam wrote lynn a song and played it for her. the next day lynn asked to join her 2 person band in need of a 3rd member

in the meantime finn was having some rough patches with his dad. he really wanted to go to art school but they couldnt afford it. finn had to get a job at an early age to support the family since they didnt have a lot of money

things were going well with the band sam was in until mikey (band leader/singer) had been caught w/ lynn. sam found out this was not just a one night stand, but instead had been going on for a year. sam went to mikey’s house out of anger and beat mikey up to the point where mikey was literally on the verge of death. lynn found him in his house alone and got him to the hospital. sam was arrested but not tried, since mikey’s parents (cassandra and micheal sr) didnt want mikey to go to jail too (since mikey was kinf of a drug dealer on the side and if mikey’s house was investigated bc of the crime scene for evidence theyd def find illegal shit? i guess? yea)

lola caught this on the new and was furious with sam. she’d become pretty distant w/ him bc of being so busy with college, so she broke it off with him. sam went into a pretty bad depression and started drinking and going to bars n shit and picking up girls

after awhile he realized his life was really fucked up and tried getting some jobs but no one would hire him because of a spotty criminal record

lola in the mean time graduated college and went back to redsdale to visit her mom. she wanted to still live there despite the fact she could pretty much go anywhere else considering how good of a chef she was. but instead she wanted to live close to her mother. she got a job at a restaurant by the ocean owned by frank. it wasnt doing so well; chefs were constantly coming and going, the place was out of date, etc. lola quickly became head chef there and practically saved frank’s failing business.

sam found out lola was in town and wanted her help. they apologized to each other and she decided to help. lola got sam a job at frank’s restaurant since frank said he owed lola for her helping him.

going back a couple years, finn moved out of his house at 22. he was super stressed out over working so he moved near the ocean in hopes of “rediscovering” himself. in the first couple years he was in redsdale, he developed his art a lot and painted mostly stuff of the ocean. he decided he needed a job, and got one at frank’s restaurant as a janitor. this is where finn met lola.

eventually sam met finn as well after sam got a job there, and they became pretty good friends. finn didnt like sam at first but after a bit he warmed up to him. after a year or so sam realized he had a crush on finn and this time, consulted lola and realized he wasnt straight. it took him a couple weeks to prepare but after a bit sam told finn he liked him. plot twist, finn was gay this whole time, luckily

pretty much everything wraps up here, sam and finn are dating now

and we’re in the current modern day

HEY HI HELLO ITS CRUSH ANON so like last week i was just chilling in the big room watching stranger things and my back was to the door so i didnt even know it when it happened but apparently he just like walked in and was like ,,, there ,,, LOOOL and i was still watching stranger things and i had my headphones on and i was really focused (and trying to distance myself from him a lil lol) so i didnt like look up from the screen or acknowledge him but he started talking to my other roomie (1/10)

and was like ‘omg wtf she hasnt even acknowledged me since i walked in .. jeez’ and then he started saying like fake spoilers and trying to get my attention but i just like was not up for that so i just kept watching and ignoring him lol but then the episode ended after like 2 min and i was like !!!! hi what tf do you want :) LOOOL and he was like wow hi ok LMAO and we just started talking and he was waiting for our other roommate who was in the shower bc they were supposed to do a shoot (2/10)

for one of classes but we just kept talking until she got out of the shower and then the two of them left ,, and then after that our other roommate came home from her class and she was like ‘yeah omg so me and y (who is actually one of xs roommates) are writing a song for our final project !! wanna hear what we have so far?’ and we were like HELL YEAH SLKDGSLDKGH LOOOL so yeah she played it for us and it like deadass was really good !! and she was like yeah y did most of it lol but yeah (3/10)

she was like guys help me with the lyrics and so we started brainstorming lyrics and we were like so what do you want it to be about? and she was like hmm idk but probably something about my relationship with our other guy friend who shes into LMAOO and i was like hm so like ,,,, mixed signals ? and she was like YES OMG thats so good ok so we started off of that and then i was like hm so who do you want to be singing it ? like a guy or a girl ? do you want the lyrics to be from your pov? (4/10)

and she was like hm i want them to be like my perspective like what im feeling but have it come from a boy bc i want x to be the singer on the track and i was like omg ok !! but on the inside i was like SGKHSLDGHSL LOOL and then a little after that our friends invited us over to their dorm to watch la la land so we went and in the middle of the movie x came and apparently its one of his favorite movies too and so like ,, during the duet scenes between emma stone and ryan gosling (5/10)

a couple people would start the song but theyd always drop out somehow and only like ,, me and x would end up finishing the song LOOOL and we ended up just doing all the duets together sdklgsldkgk it was ,,, so nice but yeah after the movie our friends still had like a shit ton of work to finish so some of us left but x invited us up to his room and so me and my roomie thats writing the song went and x wanted to get wine (lol) so my roomie and y stayed in their room and worked on the song (6/10)

so me and x went to the liquor store alone to get it and ahhhhhh like wow it was s o n i c e bc it felt like the first time in probably ever that i could interact with that boy and not feel like i was dying inside LMAO like i mean i was still dying inside but i was treating him like a friend and it was coming so naturally and i dont know how to explain it but i just felt so incredibly relaxed and comfortable and idk like obviously there were some times or some things hed do where my brain (7/10)

would just scramble and go skjslgkskjlhsg but otherwise i was fine i just like ,, felt fine. idk. anyways so we get the wine and come back and then we crack it open and then we all just start ,, working on the song LOOOL even though it was my roomie and ys project we all just started pitching in with lyrics and it was like all about mixed signals and like not knowing how the other person is feeling and wanting to take the relationship one step further but being afraid to bc of not knowing (8/10)

what the other person is hiding and the entire time i was like wow this shit is sooo ironic bc x is going to be singing this about a girl even though these are the literal complete feelings i have for him so on the outside i was getting really into it and coming up with a bunch of shit but on the inside i was like :^))))))) wow i wonder how im able to tap into these emotions so easily i really just :^)))) dont know wow :^)))))))))))) amazing :^)))))))))))))) but yeah anyways that happened (9/10)

and every time wed finish writing a line wed have x sing it to see how it would sit on the instrumental and sldkhgsldslkdh ohhh my god his voice is literally so beautiful i was d y i n g LOOOL and yeah during the night there were moments where hed touch me or wed kinda flirt and idk yeah those moments i was dying but at the same time i was acknowledging the fact that i was dying and acknowledging the fact that it probably didnt mean anything and separating it from the way i was acting so (10/10)

AHHHH wow crush anon it’s been a hot second but can i just say he sounds super into you there’s no way that boy is not crushin on you. please let me know how the song turned out! also your love life could easily be the plot of a fanfic i would very much read
