i finished breath of the wild (loz for those who don't know) and before I get to totk i wanna at least talk about the casual/subtle/built-in misogyny in the game and get it off my mind

1) the first i noticed directly was how purah OFC wasn't allowed to be an old woman. two old women in a game? naahhh that's crazy, let's make the one that's a scientist a loli stereotype 🤪 "sure she has the body of a cutesie 6 year old (that looks nothing like the other children in the game) but she's ACTUALLY like 120 sooo :P" plus that stupid stance thing that she does with that noise is so fucking... weird i can't stand it. why couldn't she just be a wise old woman?

2) backing up to purah's village and family, let's talk about her grand niece Paya. complete fan service right off the bat. that noise she makes when you start a conversation with her is straight up pornographic. and she's nervous around men. and she's in love with link. there's NO other personality we could give her nintendo?

3) Mipha. also in love with link. she dies lol ofc. very soft spoken and is a healer. again whole personality is being in love with link. there's some side notes about her connecting with van ruta really well but majority of her story is about her love for link. 😐

4) all the female zora are in love with Prince Sidon. he has a fan club. except for one:

5) one of the younger female zora; a side quest you're able to do is ssaauurrr weird. so the zora age slower and live longer than the hylians (humans) and there's a female character that wants to find love cuz she doesn't have a thing for Sidon like the others. she sends love letters down the river to some guy she's corresponding with. they meet once you complete the side quest and he's an adult human with a child female zora. but it's okay cuz she's a late bloomer. 😰 also also side note there's another female zora not in love with Prince Sidon, she's in love with link. or was. she got married after link went missing but like CMOOONNNN

6) zelda's entire damsel in distress character. others have worded this better than me. also in love with link and was completely "useless" until "her love for him" unlocked her powers. not when like, her entire kingdom and her father and all the champions died that was chill ig. NOT MY MANLET KNIGHT ESCORT NAAUURR. i never thought i would start to dislike link ever but here we are.

7) the great fairy/ies. but this has been a thing. and they kinda slay. but still it's kind of weird to be in what is considered a child's game.

8) the rito. the males of the rito are known as flying warriors, skilled in archery. the women: their singing 😐 literally give me a break here. both male and female birds sing. at least majority of the children in the village are these sillay girls but that doesn't make up for the fact that all they do is sing. and stay home. and cook. and like,, stand around.

9) the gerudo is just......... like they could be SO COOL but that's not allowed. for those of u that dont know the gerudo are an all (most of the time) female race (one male is born every 100 years)(oh and btw when he is born he's like hyrule wizard hitler very cool not racist at all when u look up the gerudo (only sometimes tho i think to be fair)) and they strictly forbid men from entering their village. sounds kinda cool right? yeah that's where that stops. a majority of the gerudo talk about marriage or men in general. the female children gather up at some point in the day and when you interact with them, they're talking about marriage and falling in love. the gerudo leave their village when old enough and go out to find a husband. the older gerudo women are portrayed as lonely and regretful. and of course there's the whole thing of link either having to sneak in in most games or CROSSDRESS like in botw to get into the village. but it's for the good for the world or whatever. oh and btw, in botw the male that link gets the crossdressing clothes from has the same voice sounds as the only other gnc male, who is largely portrayed as gay. verrrrryyy interesting stuff here. very subtle.

10) the gorons. okay I like the gorons. just silly guys. but that's the thing there's no female gorons. i forgot their origin and lore but they're basically rock creatures and are very big and buff. and nintendo couldn't make a female character like that 😱 so there's just no female gorons. im sure it's explained away but bruh.

wanted to talk about the songs i'm currently hooked on, esp since for once they're all english songs and i can actually say something other than 'ooh nice sounds!'

barbarism begins at home—the smiths: the guitar and bass riff in this is insaneeee and the way he's yelping??? crazy. one thing i really like about the smiths is how simple their lyrics are, you don't need a phd trying to figure out what they're saying. 'a crack on the head is what you get for not asking, a crack on the head is what you get for asking' well yes barbarism does begin at home! i've always loved the guitarwork in the smiths but this was the song that made me delve deeper into johnny marr’s work .... he's tooooooooo good

i want the one i can't have—the smiths: the yearning in this song makes me crazy... some girls are bigger than others—the smiths: the guitar riff in this song is so light and pretty, downright angelic, and then the lyrics are BOOBS! they were so funny for this. i genuinely cannottttt stop listening to this it's so addictive. THE RIFF. and why does it suddenly get soooo romantic at the end: send me the pillow, the one that you dream on, and i'll send you mine???? what the fuck. the outro lasts a full minute and i listen to it every time because the riff is that gorgeous

bigmouth strikes again—the smiths: the iconic joan of arc lyric <3 another sillay song....the imagery is so wacky. 'and as the flames touched her roman nose her walkman started to melt'??? and it just Sounds great too ughhhh another excellent guitar riff.... they're really unmatched when it comes to that funky addictive rock sound....the high pitched backing vocal is also so fun.

partners in crime—the strokes: what are they talking about <3 but it sounds sooo good esp the ending ohhh!! for me the strokes and the smiths are on opposite ends of the spectrum in that their lyrics aren't as clear but the sound is sooo good. i also love his voice in the higher register i love when a guy's voice gets higher in pitch i must say that's what makes the smiths delightful as well

under cover of darkness—the strokes: for me this is a classic rock song <3 like it almost makes me smile when the chorus kicks in. really love that slight gritty texture in his voice at 'are you okay?' and love how it's a long note too it scratches an itch in my brain

ode to the mets—the strokes: the moody wistful rock ooooohhhh yeeeaahhhh. the way the drums come in it's soooo good. the gritty texture on his voice in 'i needed you there, i didn't know'. it sounds so angsty i love it

instant crush—daft punk: this is ear candy for me can you believe this is my first daft punk song. it's so funky and fun and ofc julian casablancas's high notes and i love how the effect on his voice is just right without being overdone it's so great, my favorite bit is 'one thousand lonely stars hiding in the cold'

I'm sorry to hear you're sick! When I was sick (fairly recently) I thought about what Jotaro and Kakyoin would be like when they are sick and realized they'd probably be insufferable. Very "I'm not sick" they say, running a 100º/38º+ fever and struggling to breathe while coughing up a lung. Though I don't think they'd really do anything to get others sick like an ass. More of a "I'll continue doing strenuous things around the house when I should be resting" kind of thing.

Feel like they'd also be hypocritical about it so when the other is sick, they'd be very "You're just making it worse" and forcibly trying to make them rest. They're both somewhat aware they're being hypocritical, so neither calls the other out on it, or at least that's what I think.

FINE! I'LL GO TO FUCKING BED and then he passes out for 38 hours (jotaro has to spoonfeed him soup and shit so he doesn't die of malnutrition while in his sickness comas)

meanwhile it's much the same when jotaro is sick. like i mentioned he has nosophobia so he just doesn't want to think about it ever when he can feel that tickle starting in his throat and i imagine he gets SOOO just like raw emotionally when it comes in fully. he's very upset and very needy but he hates that he's needy so he tries to cover it and it is EXHAUSTING to deal with but kakyoin will deal with it because that's his friend. he tends not to leave jotaro alone during those times esp cause jotaro i feel like is prone to some fucked fever dreams so he's just always watching over him to ensure jotaro doesn't panic once he's awake and hurts himself. thank god for long distance stands. uh but yeah. jotaro always bitches about the soup being too spicy and it's making his nose run and kakyoin is like "that's the POINT BITCH IT'S SUPPOSED TO CLEAR YOUR SINUSES NOW BLOW YOUR NOSE" sillay sillay

Funniest moment?

sorry this is actually asking so much of me. to pick a singular moment... the manga is sooo funny to me, there's too many to pick from. somehow it really perfectly juggles being artful, romantic... but silly, funny, incredulously unserious. i suppose whatever sense of humor aidairo have, i grock it. i feel like i'm really watching their OCs be idiots together ww and i'm enjoying the ride.

there are entire scenes that really feel like everyone has 0 braincells, too dumb to live (endearing) & then just singular drawings, panels, I really love, little things someone said, i really think about. a lot of the time, me and my wife are just tabbing through the manga and recounting scenes we find amusing...

early manga nene is dumb in such a special way.

i think about her. ahh. impulsive and reckless and desperate lolll... it's both amusing and makes me horny. </3

this moment when she's like. ??? maybe tsuchigomori is... gay-!? SOOO funny what is this emotion. eyes swirl, shakes... she's really thinking about the possibility. scandalous... sensei...

oh yes, i should note, i vastly prefer the broadcast club's dynamic over toilet trio, it can't be beat... what i like about it is you have a kind of split between the more childish members (tsukasa, mitsuba) vs the older ones (natsuhiko, sakura) ; overall natsuhiko and sakura are more chill and can de-escalate things. sakura is well meaning and polite, natsuhiko is chill and friendly and will intervene between squabbles w/o concern (just like, sees tsukasa as misbehaving lol, not scary...) BUT natsuhiko is also, a bit of an idiot and, can be caught up in chicanery, so he can also fluidly slide to being a dummy along with mits and tsu.

i'd say my fav after school boy chaps are featuring broadcast club lol, they're just sooo funny... though, to try and focus on the main series (i'll be here forever if i count after school boy skits...) ; tea party is one of my fav scenes. adding nene to the broadcast club is so good, she plays off of everyone well ww, so it's just one thing after the other. the abducting of nene. the? dressing up of nene, into this crazy outfit. the girlfriend mixup. the fact that we are going to have a sillay little tea party.

"they get along surprisingly well" INDEED... i think they have a better group dynamic than toilet trio (since. kou and hanako are kinda contentious by nature...) you don't have anyone like, competing w/ one another in broadcast club so, i think that's why they're better at working together and accomplish more kfjfhjg...

16. What was your first major project? How far along is it?

HONESTLY very much depends on how you define "major" project KMLFMKR For reasons wayyy too personal to share publically, I hadn't really started actively working on any major projects until relatively recently!! A lil while back I downloaded RPGmaker n started a sillay little game called "Pumpkin wants Ice Cream", its about a sillyfunny (but also Not Mentally Well) girl n her (not mentally well too) besties learning about how to navigate social bonds (and eating sooo much ice cream) <3

I GOT A FAIR AMNT OF PROGRESS ON IT but it eventually got put on the backburner bc i got preoccupied with the whole Diamond Experiments project (WHICH IS COMING BACK EVENTUALLY BTW!!! i am just working through Stuff and Things rn. let me cook, ok)

what I think about each district:

G1 - normal it's just that morfosi is there. everybody has human skintones no more blue or greyscale. also i think while it's not a dinoverse game bc they only made the art, morfosi should still be in the same universe but its modern sooo way way before vtsom and twdak. they got macher corp i guess

G2 - dream eaters. not entirely well-versed in what they are other than the name and y'know eating people thing, or what albert is supposed to be (gotta repeat playthroughs) but what i DO know is that he is my friend. bright hot pink and blues and desaturated black, quite awesome aside from the horrors. they're pretty chill though they love to be sillay

G3 - mutants, quite tame as they do not eat people and are just some guys. genetically modified humans and have a sort of muted palette, more colors included like greens blues and yellows. their sky is yellow too hope this helps 👍🏼 (g3 citizens like to make fun of G4 citizens too i think in like a. idk they know myers isn't hot shit. not only cuz of vorhees' competition they don't care about that they just think he's annoying)

G4 - ya y'know the horrors, cyborgs. if you're wondering what they put in the g4 water to make them act like That look no further than the bay. sort of similar to g4 except their extra colors are for the background, not muted but mostly black white reds and blues. skys ourple. to them the Evil universe would just be normal because they live in hell which is Normal to them, imagine living in a district where your neighbors didn't go missing and turned up as food for a megacorporations twisted project. that'd be weird right.

G5 - stands. they have stands. shut up let me have this it makes sense to me. also color palette changes wildly every dramatic cut. the firefly conglomerate, while top in the district, don't really compete. i don't have a fully fleshed idea for em yet but i like thinkin about it

whew well. In my sillay lil batb thing, Beauty's mom saved this lil fae dude that lived near her woods, and they became buddies. and being an out of touch fae dude, he tried to think hmm what's a good thank you gift till he came to the conclusion. A child. And that's how Beauty happened, she's half fae but doesn't know it

Her and the beast actually knew each other before he was cursed. He lived in a different village that was separated from hers by a large wood, which he often explored as a child, and Beauty's house was at the outskirts of town almost in the woods itself. When they were 11 they run into each other, but suspect the other is a fae (ok weird pretty child in the wood, sure 🙄), so they don't give out their names and instead go by nicknames- Beauty and Beast (they're 11 and think they're sooo clever), and they spend a summer hanging out :)

Back home Beast had another friend, a lonely changeling hiding in his mirror who's jealousy was growing each time he left. She's my fucked up lil meow meow <3
