could you help explain something? when alecto surfaces in nona and scolds pyrrha for "playing mother and father" and insists that she should have eaten them - "i would have respected you much more for it" - what did she mean? as in, she shouldn't have gotten caught up in the sixth's business, and instead abandoned them to boe and go to the half-flipped moon by herself? or am i missing something??

OH I LOVE THAT PART. I also have no clue! It's such a punchy passage, but I have no idea of what it could possibly mean. "Eating someone" in TLT is mostly associated with Lyctorhood, in the sense of consumption, but I doubt that's what Alecto is referring to, since she's talking specifically to Pyrrha.

Or, like you suggest, she could simply be using "eating" as a shorthand for 'take advantage of' — it fits with whatever little we get of Alecto's vocabulary and thought patterns — and saying that she should've just looked after herself and left, instead of dedicating herself to a lost cause.

I also have no clue if when she says "US" she means Nona + Cam and Pal, or she means herself (Alecto + Nona and all her disjointed memories) or she means Alecto and whatever soul fragment is inside her (personally, I believe that a bit of Gideon's soul is inside Harrow's body.) Or she could even be saying "US" to mean herself and Varun as Resurrection Beasts, though that's less likely.

I think you're probably right and she's just using a very carnal metaphor to say that Pyrrha should have left, but like... I'm not ruling out that there's a more literal explanation that will introduce a new worldbuilding / "magical system" related element in AtN, just because I never know what to expect from this series. I'm once again so fascinated by the glimpses that we get of Alecto's personality because she's such an enigma.

I'm new here so this has been pretty much most of my Tumblr experience, which adds to the surreality of it a bit as I have no idea what the normal Tumblr existence is

I went from "no notifications" to "all notifications, all the time" without ever finding out if there's a sweet spot where they're functional

(By the way, notifications on mobile seem to refresh at regular 30 second intervals, so that's another thing I've learned)

I've met people IRL who, when I've explained why my phone keeps flashing, have said "Oh that was you? I'm not on Tumblr but I heard about it on ___" which is maybe the oddest part as I try to tell myself it's only really spread in the bubble/biome of Tumblr I'm in (hello neurodivergent queers) and have no clue how it's doing outside that

the thing for me with quinn and trevor is like the hughes bros are always going on about how since they're so close in age all their friends were each others friends blah blah and like that's kind of true as far as i can tell but in quinny's mind trevor is an outlier adn should not have been counted ya know? that or the big happy friend-family thing is mostly something jack cooked up in his extrovert middle child brain because he does seem to be the primary nucleus and the one that kind of brings it up the most but idk maybe that's an unfair j'accusation

One of the funniest things to me about the Wither Rose Alliance is that it's such a study in moral relativity. fWhip came in so obviously trying his level best to be the villain of the server - he had a great setup, he started off relatively innocent and had a clear path towards going too far, he justified himself at every step of the way but was so obviously in it for the chaos, the vibes were off the charts - and it would have worked! The empires would have quaked in the face of his morally questionable plot decisions! ....If he wasn't standing beside Mythical J Sausage, who hasn't seen a moral value in 15 years. fWhip's cartoon villainy just got so hilariously outweighed by War Crimes Georg of Mythland (who allies himself with 1.3 demons per year adn is a statistical outlier that should not be counted) that he ended up being a completely sympathetic antihero instead of an unhinged antagonist, purely by lightly suggesting that maybe his buddy shouldn't be quite that enthused about murder. I don't know what that dynamic is, but whatever those vibes are they're my favourite <3
