We were on a boat! We went to Iceland, Norway, few other places. One of the last stops was Orkney before we ended in the UK and flew home from there.

Would you like to see what is likely the oldest existing house on Earth?

Here it is:

It’s called the Knap of Howar, and I am in love with it. It’s in Orkney, Scotland, and it’s over 5,000 years old. It was preserved by the soil around it. The name “Knap of Howar” is absolutely fantastic, and it has a fireplace, shelves, and a bed, and may have had a front porch, because humans are always basically humans no matter how much time may pass.

#I have mixed feelings on cruises tbh but it's a good option for my family #considering our various physical limitations #this one was actually a disney cruise #long story short we had a friend of the family who was working for disney at the time #she was a tax accountant and she did their international taxes or something #anyway she really wanted to do a disney cruise and she got steep discounts as someone fairly high up in the company #she ended up leaving later because they were overworking her but for a little while we traveled with her a fair amount and it was nice #disney has its problems but they're really REALLY good about disability so it worked well for our various needs #they were originally going to stop at the faroe islands but uhhhhh then I guess their clientele heard what those islands are famous for #see: whale hunting #so they issued a last minute change to the orkneys #I was just happy to be there lmao #the travel bug #replies
