is there a canonical reason why the being created by scientists to be immortal, immune to illness, and a deadly weapon was designed to look like hedgehog??

#like…why? i mean i’m glad he’s a hedgehog he’s small and adorable but why #shadow the hedgehog #<— in case it wasn’t obvious this is about him #i haven’t played any sonic games that go into shadow’s lore but i kinda doubt they mention that detail #it’d be awesome if there actually is an explanation tho #they were just like ‘hegewog :3’
