i swear i started this with a question. it feels like it’s disappeared. i think what i was going for was, more or less: if we’d gotten different tommy lore, like you said — an ex-boyfriend or an ex-fiancé — how do you think the episode would’ve played out? like, does that still wind up with them breaking up?

Omg i don't understand why they hyped that Glee speech fr?? I lived through that era as a queer teen and the show didn't change the world for queer folks like they think it did imho - not to stir up shit about stereotypes but it was more geared towards musical lovers as well as a generation of people who were like 10-20 years younger than Tommy. It also felt more poignant for Josh to say (for himself) than it was relevant to Buck's issues.

We should've gotten Buck talking to Hen (and Karen) because they're also queer and they know both Buck and Tommy and it's the conversation we were hoping for/that would've made sense.

I understand the need for a catalyst in how they wrote the conflict and the breakup, but I think Buck would've freaked out about a broken off engagement between Tommy and a man just as much as with a woman, as well as the Kinsey stuff (not that I really believe his cluelessness btw given his tendency for research binges and excitement for learning and knowledge i think he would've been trying to find out as much as he could which could have been an interesting point of tension between them if Tommy didn't really know as much or care to) and the fact he hadn't explored his own identity instead just enjoying his relationship with Tommy.

We should have gotten Tommy talking about a serious male ex because he's gay and deserves to have his identity acknowledged through past gay relationships, instead of the fucking terribly campy throwaway line of him complimenting Abby's hair, like wtf was that?? Also: no fucking way they didn't talk about past relationships before that point, no way oversharer Buck didn't tell Tommy about his first love.

The show committed to the breakup and I'm okay with that because 1) Tommy's reasoning gives us more insight into his character that is feeding the fic and meta writers, and 2) it gives Buck the opportunity to date other guys (and women) for a time and compare his experiences to his emotional connection with Tommy ie. Love, and then it allows for them to get back together stronger down the line (my preference is they become friends first and feelings inevitably come to a head).

I can handle temporary pain but i cannot abide terrible writing. Abby's Tommy is actually Thomas Flores and was some guy she met at a grocery store or bar and owns his own business and has brown eyes and short straight hair and drives a tesla.

This might be a bit of a hot take and is gonna sound weird out of context, but I don't really like how modern writers treat all LGBT+ identities as interchangeably representative of each other, like we're Lego pieces that can be swapped out.

Like, for an example of what I mean, i went to a comic book subreddit asking for superhero stories that were explicitly led by lesbians specifically, and more than half of them failed to live up to that standard at all. Practically every comment had a reply correcting them that one of the characters they recommended were bisexual. Which normally would be great, i like canonically queer characters of any identity, but as a lesbian I was looking for characters that I could see my specific identity represented within.

Just because a story has good bi representation does not necessarily mean it is going to have good lesbian representation. Just because it has good lesbian trans representation doesn't mean it will have good trans representation. Having good trans representation doesn't mean it will have good bisexual representation.

The L Word was a massive win for representation of cis lesbian women, but up until Gen Q it was horrifically transphobic in its handling of trans men and it still doesn't have an explicitly trans woman main character.

The romanceable cast of games like Dragon Age: Veilguard, Baldurs Gate 3, or Stardew Valley are all explicitly canonically bi/pan by default (since all potential romantic options are romanceable by the player character regardless of gender, barring the very rare exception), but if you want to see yourself in the game as a gay person you're limited entirely to just headcanoning your specific incarnation of the player character, unable to have your character ever explicitly voice their identity in any meaningful capacity. Same thing with Assassin's Creeds both Valhalla and Odyssey.

RWBY has a relationship between a bi woman (Blake) and a woman who is broadly generally known to be Sapphic but who's explicit canon sexuality is up for debate (Yang), and when you look at the explicitly undeniably canon lesbians we get...Ilia? A woman that only gets to be an actual character for a volume before getting written out entirely alongside Sun and Neptune. Maybe Jaune's moms, but they're more plot device than characters. Gay men get the Bury Your Gays in Clover and offensive stereotyping in Scarlett. Trans women get May Marigold the glorified background extra (who's VA was on the receiving end of horrific transmisogynistic abuse from fans and staff alike).

Side note: I hate the "Unlabeled Broadly Sapphic" type of rep for precisely this reason. Well, that, and the fact that any attempt at interpreting the supposedly unlabeled characters as anything other than bi/pan is loudly shouted down as Bi/Pan Erasure (which BTW, calling this out as Bi/Pan Erasure detracts from actual instances of Bi/Pan Erasure). I mean, we all saw the collective shit fit Comic Twitter threw when G. Willow Wilson called Poison Ivy a lesbian, right?

By this point Porsche might be excused for thinking he's dreaming. I am starting to wonder myself. The gang all watching porn together? They took Tankhun to Hum Bar? In a reversal from Ep 2, we see Porsche's chaotic streak and outsider status turned toward positive ends in this one, and a return to his own home turf. BTW in case you didn't notice all the subtle hints Kinn is gay.

Kinn do you ever actually sleep, or just keep tabs on everything in the house all the time? Maybe that's what the coffee is for.

Porsche has been left at home to Khun-sit during a big meeting. That's what you get for being a fuck-up, dude. This of all things motivates him to buckle down?! Why? Because it was an off-hand, second-hand comment, not something that he could fight?

Aw, his new friends are rooting for him. (Big is still sulking.) Going for that "most improved" award this month I guess, and is now allowed to go along on jobs.

Oh right! Everybody here is a violent criminal! We almost forgot. What's this about a secret...? Porsche is super-uncomfortable with this whole scene. What will you do when you're desperate?

Shit I thought that line about superhero movies was one of those incorrect quote things because it's so damn cheesy.

Apparently desperation leads this particular guy to suicide by Mafia. And now we have a "they" in the equation? Porsche is going way out on a limb here and Kinn's just... observing. Unbothered. Thinking maybe for a half second "holy shit is that actually going to work?" and then "nope good try though" and Porsche gets slightly shot and Embezzler Guy goes down with like six bullets in him, one of which belongs to Porsche.

I am getting so much whiplash, this show will be hearing from my insurance company.

Kinn is relaxing after surviving his latest murder attempt and... thinking about Porsche's face? Oh dear. So far we've generally seen him through Porsche's (more or less antagonistic) POV; this is the first private, reflective moment.

Porsche is so very confused right now but he's... sort of reaching out? Trying to be helpful? To do not just the physical but the mental part of his job and figure out the source of the threat? (Good lord he looks young though.)

Was that... teasing? Kinn is hard to read.

Ah, the elusive Kim at last. Who also gets assigned protection even though he doesn't live at home? Big is in a glass case of emotion here. Kim you are being mean to Big for no reason, although as the youngest anybody having a crush on your older brother is probably good enough reason from his POV.

We switch frameworks rapidly throughout this episode, mixing the two worlds. Back to Yok's bar with both of the older siblings, Kinn having invited himself and his friends along. I'm delighted that Porsche and Khun have hit it off. Khun seems much more like a character now that he isn't so one-note. Out of the whole bunch only Kinn looks like he actually knows how to drink. This whole scene is just so... unguarded? Like yes there are a bunch of bodyguards present, but everybody is drunk and dancing and nobody cares. It's positioned opposite the house, where everything is controlled and rule-bound and paranoid. By the end of the scene they're like a pile of (very scary) puppies, worn out from unaccustomed playtime.

All except for a silly-drunk Porsche, who is dragging a mostly-sober (?) Kinn down to the waterfront because why...? (There's the water again.) And Kinn is literally "all right, whatever" about this, just thoroughly bemused by this guy now. Big fan of the camera work in this show so far, the way it's spiraling in on the two of them here, none of the usual markers of difference between them in evidence.

"When's the last time you were this happy?" is a telling question, and it's one Porsche doesn't ask back, but you are inevitably led to wonder what the answer would have been.

And bang, we're back to Porsche's moral dilemma, which has been there the whole time, will always be there, whether or not he chooses to look away for an evening. Kinn reveals something significant for the first time - regardless of what the viewer might opine, he doesn't think he has a choice about his life. So why is he kissing Porsche now? Because Porsche is sad, and they both feel trapped?

For a first kiss that went hard, whoa.

some context is necessary here - zandra was raised by a high elf father who ran a parlor/bar/club that only served the noblest of the noble. she loves money and asks for it pretty often during act 1, and is also standoffish because of her natural distance from being raised in an environment where her dad basically showed her off to his patrons - she's extremely beautiful (for a gnome, many would say) and talented with both magic and music. back then, she seemed untouchable.

as she develops into a better person during the acts, becoming more sure of what she herself wants, finding value in sticking out for others and helping them (without needing (too much) recompense)... wyll falls in love with her hard. how could he not - she's basically a perfect princess

she turns him down during the dance, though, which kind of broke his heart but he doesnt get over his love for her. zandra knows and just kind of keeps her distance from there, though she doesn't stop caring for him as a friend. she's just not interested in him that way.

gale:

zandra and gale shared a very short fling in act 2 (shadowheart doesn't really get into a relationship with tav until act 3 so zandra has a lot of free time to fuck around lol). gale kind of got caught up with it and she had to be like hi thanks for bringing me out here to the woods but i dont like you like that

in a platonic sense, which is the standard for the rest of the game, gale likes her more than she does him but theyre pretty good friends. nothing crazy though

i think he also had really mixed feelings about her too because he also did think she was very beautiful for a gnome, and people were drawn to her despite her natural distance when he probably feels he had to work hard for it. in the end though theyre good with each other :thumbsup: they probably go for manicures together

-Joy has a habit of cracking her joints because of gymnastics and it drives Roy and sometimes Papa Louie up the wall

-Akari nearly got her and Allan arrested while speeding to the Sugarplex Film Feast. When they arrived, Akari nearly ran over a couple people with a few police cars that had followed them, then loudly announcing their arrival while Allan looked like his soul had left his body along the way (Petrona was livid because of this but Louie made sure she was left off the hook and only had to do community service afterwards

-Didar is known as a huge prankster among any set he's worked with, including Nowtime News and Mocharia Life. Most of his pranks are harmless albeit a few cruel. Sometimes Simone or others will join in (depending on who he's pranking)

Oh and another thing I don't hate Sarah. And if u don't know what Ryden is (tbf idk why ur here but this will educate u) it's basically the ship name of Ryan Ross (ex guitarist and backing vocalist of panic!) and Brendon Urie (singer and last man standing)

In 9th grade they decide that they want to start up a band btw for reference Ryan and Spencer at that time attend (Bishop Gorman high school) and they invite Brent Wilson from Palo Verde high school to come and try out for bass along with another guy called Trevor they formed a band called Pet Salamnder this was when they were around 16 ish (They acctually still have a website for the band and you can go check it out if you want)

Anyways don't really know what happened to Pet Salamander but in short they kind of lost Trevor (don't know correct me if im wrong but I think Trevor was the guitarist in the way things worked out it would make sense and I think there was another band they created in between these 2 bands but idk its not important) The band now needed a new guitarist. Brent who went to the same high school as Brendon told him he should audition for their band so Brendon did just that and became the guitarist. Orginally Ryan was meant to be the lead singer but Brendon then became the lead singer because they heard him do his singing and they though he was good. At the time especially Ryan and Brendon were having a hard time with their families and their education as they wanted to quit high school and as a result I think they both got kicked out of their houses . Brendon got a job at a smoothie shack to try and earn some money to pay for rent. He also would sing to people for tips. In other words they were hella broke.

Anyways Ryan and Brendon started creating the demos for their album and Ryan decided to send them to Pete Wentz who was in the LV area recording under the cork tree with FOB. Pete listened to the demos and signed them up to his new record label decaydance after hearing them perform 2/3 songs.

AFYCSO was released on the 27th September 2005 on that same day Ryan posted something in his livejournal (I'm not sure if it was just something to commemorate it being released or if he was acctually in a relationship at this time but here is what he put)

And also i'm obviously going to work on part 2 straight away but I just feel like the whole panic! and especially Ryden stuff needs to be updated abd i also find it super interesting as well. Also I feel I need to adress all the lyrics that could somehow lead to something to do with one another there's so much stuff out here and I need it all in one place cos im fed up of trawling the internet for all the theories and stuff never getting anywhere 😂)
