I thought I was crazy for complaining about gentrification in my little insignificant suburban hometown but I was visiting my sister for a couple weeks and I just got back and my dad told me he doesn’t shop at the grocery store down the street from our house anymore because they remodeled and now everything is twice as expensive

#my neighborhood is also full of white children now #which is wild bc growing up this neighborhood was mostly older people who’d lived in their houses for years before my parents moved #to the US and now most of them have passed away and their homes were completely remodeled to that boring gray minimalist style and resold #they tore down our drive in movie theatre to build a wearhouse #and they completely redid the mall and now there’s a chick fil a by my house?#which I always associated with upper class ppl bc the only other chick fil a nearby is #where all the upper middle class kids I went to school with live loll #personal
