Can I say a pet peeve of mine: I don't like it when people buy a painting from like a yard sale or second hand store and.... paint over it.

It just feels disrespectful to the former artist. It makes me feel ill that someone put all that work into a painting only for years later someone to,,, destroy the artists original work.

I don't care if it was an ugly painting or you wanted to make it look better, you didn't have to buy it if you didn't want the painting as is.

Saying this as someone who paints myself personally if I knew my work would end up being painted over or altered by someone else years down the line if they left my possession either by my own violition or if I died and they were given away or sold.. I would be quite upset.

This is something that is my personal opinion but I feel quite strongly about as an artist.
