I MADE A GAME!
https://dragons-den-studios.itch.io/the-pizza-knight-saves-the-princess
youtube
There’s a princess in a castle,
Getting her out has been a hassle
Thanks to the company that the Chocolate Count has kept:
A robot army great and scary,
Colored pink and flavored berry,
And at destruction they’re unfortunately adept.
Eighty-five knights went to free her,
Eighty-five knights have been slain,
And the emperor’s decided to give my king an unneeded bit of strain.
Lately I’ve been on suspension,
But now is my chance for redemption,
And ensure that the princess will a-canter free again!
Can you really save her from the Chocolate Count’s gumbots?
Of course I can.
‘Cuz I’m the Pizza Knight,
And I’m gonna bring the fight
In only thirty minutes or less.
I’ve got my shield and blade,
And my hard-boiled steed,
And incredible finesse.
A shining flatbread fella
In sauce and mozzarella,
My calories? Twelve hundred two.
I’m going to save the day
In Antray’s knightly way:
Being courageous, kind, and true.
This game is non-vegetarian, non-pescatarian, non-paleo, and non-keto. It contains wheat, dairy, eggs, shellfish, nuts, high fructose corn syrup, and an excessive number of bad food puns.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Play as the Pizza Knight, a kind & gallant but somewhat bumbling knight made of cheese pizza on a planet where everything & everyone is made out of food. (The planet itself is a giant cake pop.) Explore the castle of the evil Chocolate Count as you try to rescue the Water Ice Princess before it's too late, aided by magical pizza toppings whose powers help you get past the count's gumbots and traps. Choose your topping wisely, brave knight, and maybe you'll find your truth along the way.
THIS GAME IS IN DEVELOPMENT. The demo version has two toppings to choose from, four good endings, five bad endings, no potions room, girls, and several bad food puns. The demo is FREE to download.
THE FULL GAME WILL BE MUCH BIGGER. The final version will have twelve toppings to choose from, twelve good endings including a secret ending, twenty bad endings including a secret bad ending, a potions room, more girls, and even more bad food puns. The final release will COST $1.50 to download (because unlike the planet Comestibla, pizza doesn't grow on trees on Earth).
This game is recommended for a 12+ audience due to cartoon violence and some frightening scenes that younger viewers may be sensitive to. People between the ages of 6-12 should only play this game in the company of an adult, and people under the age of 6 shouldn't be playing this game at all.
WHY IS THERE NO VOICEWORK OR SOUNDTRACK? Because this is the first game I've ever made, and I'm only one chef. Plus, my irl voice stinks and I can't read from scripts very well. If this game does well I may consider making a DLC with voice acting & music.
Support my game on Patreon! patreon.com/user?u=108847419

Fall is now in full swing, and that means an abundance of pumpkin spice products to enjoy! Of course, plenty of restaurants are offering a wide variety of new releases and limited deals this fall, so make sure you know what’s available so you don’t miss out!
New Food Releases and Promotions This Fall Season
Krispy Kreme Halloween Donuts
Krispy Kreme is celebrating fall with some spooky Halloween-themed donuts. Decorated to resemble your classic Halloween characters, the donuts feature a range of toppings and fillings to suit all tastes. For a limited period, you can now grab the following Halloween donuts at Krispy Kreme: Spiderweb Donut – A classic chocolate iced kreme-filled donut with is topped with a green spiderweb icing with a sugar piece spider. Mummy Donut – A kreme-filled donut with a white icing glaze, white drizzle, and eyeball sugar pieces styled into a mummy Jack-O-Lantern Donut – Orange and chocolate icing donut that is styled into a jack-o-lantern. Chocolate Iced Glazed Donut – A standard chocolate iced glazed donut with special Halloween themed sprinkles. Dunkin Donuts Not to be outdone in the Halloween donut market, Dunkin Donuts have also unleashed some spooky donuts of their own. While most of these are simply current donuts with a funny Halloween pun attached to the name, there is a brand-new Spider Donut available until Halloween, A standard ring donut, it features an orange icing that is topped with a scary spider – well, a spider made from chocolate covered Munchkin Donut! Not only that, Dunkin Donuts is rolling out two new drinks for the autumn. The Almond Joy Hot Chocolate and Frozen Almond Joy Hot Chocolate blend milk chocolate, coconut, and almond to create a truly delicious beverage.
Arby’s Venison Sandwich – Available for One Day Only!
Arby’s has one of the most exclusive releases this fall – the mouth-watering Venison Sandwich. The reason this sandwich is so exclusive is because it is only getting a single day release! Featuring a thick cut of veal steak with crispy onion rings and a rich juniper berry sauce, the Venison Sandwich isn’t one to miss. Make sure you arrive early enough at your local Arby’s, as limited supplies mean once it’s sold it is gone for good! Set aside some time on Saturday, October 21, 2017 for the opportunity to try this exclusive sandwich.
Bigger and Better Ribs at TGI Fridays
Fans of TGI Fridays delicious baby back ribs are in for a treat this fall, as the company officially releases their new Fridays Big Rib. These ribs are 30 percent larger than the previous baby back ribs they are replacing, so it’s certainly a new release worth getting excited for. Marinated in a secret blend of smoke flavours and citrus, the full rack of ribs is now served on a chopping board and come with two sides, all for a very modest $12.99. The new bigger ribs are available in the following flavours - Jack Daniels BBQ - Fridays Original BBQ - Sweet Memphis (new) - Savoury Bacon Crusted (new) Fridays Big Rib are available from October 18, 2017.
Chuck E Cheese’s Candy Corn Pizza
To get in the Halloween spirit, Chuck E Cheese has released a rather intriguing sounding candy corn pizza – although it’s not quite as it seems. For one, there is no candy corn topping on the pizza, which we’re convinced is a good thing, as some combinations are best left alone! However, the pizza does come with toppings meant to mimic the appearance of candy corn, plus you get a side of actual candy corn just to keep things authentic. The toppings consist of a garlic mozzarella at the centre of the pizza, which is then surrounded by cheddar cheese, and you can even try a slice for free if you arrive on the hour between 4pm and 8pm leading up to Halloween.
New $2 Breakfast Pockets at Jack in the Box
Jack in the Box has an exclusive new breakfast item available for a limited run this fall. The breakfast pocket is a slight variation on the company’s popular breakfast sandwiches, this time being wrapped and grilled in a warm flower tortilla, costing a very reasonable $2. Two flavours are currently available: The Sausage and Egg Breakfast Pocket – features a sausage patty, fried egg, and two slices of American cheese. Ham and Egg Breakfast Pocket – features grilled ham, fried egg, and two slices of American cheese
Starbucks Unveils Two New Fall Drinks
Starbucks was one of the first places to make the most of the fall season by introducing their legendary pumpkin spice latte, which has made its annual return this year, but that hasn’t stopped them from coming up with something new for this year either. As part of their fall menu, Starbucks has introduced the new Maple Pecan Latte and the Dark Mocha Frappuccino. The Maple Pecan Latte is a combination of espresso and steamed milk (like a regular latte), then combined with a maple pecan sauce and dusted with an autumn sugar topping. The Dark Mocha Frappuccino combines coffee with milk and ice, blending it all together with some rich extra dark cocoa and then topping with plenty of whipped cream. You can enjoy this and any other beverage at Starbucks in their limited-edition fall-themed cups, available in orange, teal, and plum!
Enjoy a Free Subway When You Buy a Sub Sandwich This National Sandwich Day
Not only has Subway’s fall-special Autumn Carved Turkey Sandwich available again this year, but you get a free sandwich with any sub you buy on November 3. The reason? To celebrate national sandwich day of course! The deal runs exclusively on November 3, and any sandwich and 30oz drink you buy comes with a second sandwich of the same or lesser value free of charge! Now that i've made some headway into the new games I can revisit this* little series of posts:
*[Kanto] [Johto] [Hoenn] [Sinnoh] [Unova] [Kalos] [Alola] [Galar] [Hisui] [Champs] [Paldea] [Paldea2] [Paldea3] [Teams] [Misc.]
Katy's name in Japanese is Kaede[カエデ] from kaede[楓] the japanese word for the maple tree. While the link is likely the Japanese use of maple syrup as a natural sugar in a lot of traditional pastries, it's kind of an odd choice of design when the Japanese maple is so well known for its deep red leaves, and even other maple trees are distinctly associated with various shades of red, orange, and yellow... Yet she's all brown with just a dash of minty green in there?
I covered Brassius' name in the lead up to game release but his Japanese name is Korusa[コルサ] as in Colza, another name for rapeseed or canola. He shares a namesake plant with Natane and Nabana, in Sinnoh/Hisui, but appears otherwise unrelated. Weird that his design is plant themed yet totally unrelated.
Iono's name was one I wasnt sure of at first, in Japanese it's Nanjamo[ナンジャモ] which is a pun on Nanjamonja[何じゃもんじゃ], which is and exclamation that gets translated very loosely as something like "what the hell is that!?" What i didnt realize at first and that apparently Nanjamonja-no-ki[なんじゃもんじゃの木] is actually the common name of the Chionanthus retusus, the Chinese fringetree. Incidentally I also thought for a moment that her name was a reference to nanjamonja-goke[ナンジャモンジャゴケ], the Takakia lepidozioides moss. But Iono's English name seems to come from the "...iona..." in Chionanthus...
Kofu's name is Haidai[ハイダイ] from the chinese name hǎidài[海带] for a type of Kelp/seaweed(Saccharina japonica). The English name might be a halfbaked attempt at appropriating makonbu[真昆布], the japanese name for the same plant; noting that the ko...bu[こ...ぶ] and kofu[こふ] are written similarly. Anyway... Given the chef gimmick, the seaweed you have to barter for for him, and the fact that one of his town's unique features is a chinese restaurant, it would appear to refer to it specifically as food. It's also the logo on his apron.
Larry's name is Aoki[アオキ] from aoki[青木] the spotted laurel/Japanese laurel tree.(Aucuba japonica) Funny enough it reminds me of Norman's name being Senri from the Senryo plant, which is a similar looking plant with red berries, and they're both normal type specialists. His highlights are similar in shape and color to aoki leaves. And they seem to have gotten Larry from Laurel.
Ryme... Her name is Raimu[ライム] as in Lime, homonym with Rhyme. She raps, but she does not appear to resemble limes... Her sister Tyme is taimu[タイム] like the herb thyme. I dont know why the english localization felt the need to remove the "h" in both of these.
Tulip's name was already Rippu[リップ] as in Lip from tulip.
Grusha/guruusha[グルーシャ] I've done before too. He's named in Russian, grusha[груша]: "pear." His big winter coat makes his head and torso pearshaped.
Rika's name is Chiri[チリ] like Chilipeppers, the genus Capsicum. Some other languages opted to name her after cayenne, but the English name Rika comes from Paprika. Funny enough it has nothing to do with Chili from Unova, as his name, like all his brothers', was originally a reference to corn, not any sort of pepper.
Poppy is popii[ポピー] is poppy. Although they come in a few colors they all have the distinctive black center, which I assume is meant to be reflected in the design of Poppy's hair.
It's just Larry/Aoki again...
Hassel's name in Japanese is Hassaku[ハッサク] from hassaku[八朔] aka the "jagada," a type of orange cultivated in Japan, known for being larger than most oranges; about the size of a grapefruit.
Geeta's name is Omodaka[オモダ] from Omodaka[沢瀉] a tree called the threeleaf arrowhead/Chinese arrowhead (Sagittaria trifolia). Its also prominently featured in Japanese family crests, like that of the Sawada, included above.
Might as well get Team Star is in on this too! In the same way Guzma and Plumeria were kind of villainous alternatives to trial captains, for bug and poison type respectively, the Team Star sub-bosses kind of occupy a sort of pseudo/demi-gym leader status.
Giacomo's name is Piinya[ピーニャ] as in Piña:"Pineapple." His puffy autumn uniform vest and spiky hair makes him look like a pineapple.
Mela's name is Meroko[メロコ] seemingly taken from the Meloco... Of melocotón, Spanish word for "peach." Her red is a little too vibrant for it to be obvious, but her yellow to red hair appears to be peach inspired.
Atticus's name is Shuumei[シュウメイ] from Shumeigiku[秋明菊] Japanese name of a flower called the "fall-blooming anemone"(Anemone hupehensis japonica). It comes in a few shades of pink and violet that seem to match the poison type color motif.
Ortega's name is just a tiny tweak from Orutiga[オルティガ]:"Ortiga" spanish name for nettle, a broad family of herbs known for their stinging hairs.
Eri's Japanese mame is Biwa[ビワ] from biwa[枇杷]: "loquat"(Eriobotrya japonica) a tree with a long history of its fruit and leaves bring used for food and tea. It is sometimes erroneously called the "Japanese Plum."
And just to round things out a little...
Nemona's English name came from her Japanese name, Nemo[ネモ] from the Nemo nemphilia, a broad range of flowers known for their baby blue color. Oddly thats not reflected in her actual design..
Laughably Arven's name was Pepaa[ペパー]:"Pepper" and you would think it would refer to... You know... peppers. But given the English name, Arven from Mentha arvensis, it's actually a reference to peppermint which does make sense with his herb theme.
Penny's name is Botan[ボタン] from Botan[牡丹] Japanese name for the "tree Peony"(Paeonia suffruticosa) The peony has long standing cultural importance in China and by some proxy Japan, and is often compared to the Rose's prominence in Western Europe; this is incidentally why Chairman Rose's brother in Galar is named Peony. Incidentally this is likely why they had to name her Penny, as Peony had been taken.
Clavell's name is actually the same, Kuraberu[クラベル] approximating "Clavel" the Spanish name for the Carnation. He shares a flower name with Champion Diantha in Kalos.
Oops, first pass thru i forgot about the school faculty so i've added a post for those

EndFarmHorror Poly Learning
-- SFW, Poly, Fluff -- -- Endless belongs to @/EndlessSans -- 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Farmer - Planting Farmer’s rooster hollered, waking the trio. Farmer began to get up but was pulled down by Horror. “H-horror, hun, we gotta get up, we need to tend to the crops.” Horror groaned, waking Endless, the smaller awoke with a startle but then calmed down as they realized what awoke them. Endless was the last to awake but the first to get out of bed, the hopped out of bed, their pajamas wrinkled. Farmer yawned slowly pivoting out of bed. He stretched as he tugged on Horror’s colossal arm trying to provoke him to get out of the bed. The bed groaned as he shifted his weight stepping out of bed. Endless cheerily skipped over to the dresser. Endless grabbed some overalls and a collared shirt for Farmer, a vest and long-sleeved shirt plus some sweatpants for Horror, and finally, a sweatshirt and jeans for himself. He tosses the combination of clothes towards his boyfriend, they intercepted the clothes and they took off their pajamas and put on the clothes. They had some breakfast and walked out the door. Farmer ran toward the fields grabbing a bucket of water, a bucket of seeds, and also some farming tools. The others took some of the tools. Horror began using a hoe on the ground making places for seeds, Endless took one bucket and slowly sprinkled the seeds around the farm, to end off, Farmer took the water and Horror pushed some dirt over it. Endless gave Horror a high-five before being yanked off their feet, the smaller felt themself in the air being hugged by Horror, he felt Farmer in the giant’s clutches too. “H-heh.. I love you too..” Endless purred quietly. Farmer took them to a few bushes, when looking closer, Endless noticed they were berries! The smaller looked back at his boyfriend who was now holding three baskets. “Wanna have a berry good time?” Farmer asked. It took a second but then Endless bursted out laughing “BAHAHAHAH!- O-oh jeez Farmer.. that was a good one-” Endless hated that he laughed at such a dumb pun but he was happy that Farmer told it. Endless and Horror took a basket. They began to pick the berries. Endless pricked his finger on a thorn, drawing it back. “Ow!” The smaller cried out. He felt a hand clutch around his wrist and turn his entire body towards the Horror. The giant grabbed Endless’s finger and sucked on the wound. “H-horror.. i-its no-” Endless was suddenly cut off as Horror responded “Tasty.. just like in bed.~” Endless’s face lit up and pushed Horror’s giant head away. “Oh my stars Horror, shut up!-” Endless hid his blush as Farmer came over and stroked his cheek. “Its true ya’ know.~” Farmer mused. Endless’s face was bright red and turned to Horror who seemed to be excited. Endless and Farmer slowly walked over to him before both of them being dragged somewhere by Horror. 12:00PM - 5:00PM - Horror - Livestock Horror led the trio towards the barn, he was silent until he let out a small grunt as he hoisted open the barn door. Farmer and Endless gaped in awe as the saw how beautiful it was, the pigs were oinking, cows mooing, and each chicken was clucking, Horror had taken such good care of the livestock, Endless was still struggling to get over the fact that they weren’t all eaten by Horror. The dust-covered skeleton, still in amazement, stared at Horror, smug. Endless ran over to Horror as Farmer slowly waltzed over. Endless began blabbering, “How did you do this? How are they alive? What did you do to make this look so good? How long has it been this way? How are they not in your belly?!” The mess of words blended together into one big plethora of questions and Farmer simply put his finger over Endless’s mouth. Farmer hugged Horror giving him a light peck on the cheekbone. “You did well, hun..” Farmer purred. Horror lifted his large hand and picked up a small chicken, lightly stroking its back. Endless’s eye-lights lit up and ran over examining the chicken smiling in delight. Horror made a light smile placing the chicken down. Endless hugged Horror tightly, constricting around Horror. “THIS IS SO AWESOME!!” Endless exclaimed. Endless sped around at mach speeds staring at all the animals. Farmer’s face lit up, he’d never seen End this happy, he was so glad Horror’s and his work payed off. Endless spun around and bolted towards both of them jumping at them and embracing the skeletons. Endless exclaimed something about dinner and took both of his boyfriends to the kitchen. 5:00PM - 9:00PM - Endless - Cooking Endless knew Horror would love this, he could respect a good meal. Endless took them both into the kitchen and took out some cutting knives, steak, and numerous sauces. Farmer and Horror watched as the smaller put pots and pans onto the stove turning it on as he took out some bread dough. He popped the dough into the oven shutting it as if it was a movie. A movie where the character cooks about 20 things at a time. Endless began to cut the steak, putting it onto a frying pan, he took some corn, putting the small pieces into a pot along with some water letting it boil. The smaller grabbed Horror’s hands and gave him an egg. “Break it into the bowl like this!” the cook proceeded to cracked the egg, gracefully pouring it. Horror looked at the bowl, Endless, and then the egg before shattering it in his hand. Endless jumped, sighing. “No Horror, lightly.” Endless gave the giant another egg, Horror broke it open pouring it clumsily yet efficiently. Endless smiled grabbing Farmer next, he led Farmer over to to a bowl of different grains, Endless poured the eggs into the bowl. “Ok, Farmer, why don’t you stir?” He handed Farmer a whisk. Farmer looked at the whisk and then the bowl before stirring it into a fine mixture. Endless suddenly swapped the finished bread for the mixture as he took the steak and corn off the stove, as the trio ate, Endless kept looking over at the oven. Once they all finished the universe-less skeleton ran over to the oven taking out a chocolate cake. They all ate one slice before Endless put away the cake and they all went upstairs. 9:00PM - Comfort - Sleeping It was a simple life the trio lived, but a good one. They all got into bed, Horror wrapping his colossal arms around his boyfriends, they slowly drifted to bed.

this one's less IC-interaction ask, but consider : jack & emily going to the farmers market ; they both wear sunhats & shades---em gets to throw on the hat jack got her. they show up with a main goal of mainly VEGGIES, but end up splurging most of their budget on fruit. they eat an entire case of strawberries while there & need to purchase a second (& third). puns ?? ('i love you from my head tomatoes' / 'i'm grapeful to have you here.') they're under a roof, but jack gets a sunburn on his nose.
The hat is one that should be familiar to him- he’d gotten her it. Honestly, it was one of her favourites, one that she always grabbed when travelling to places she knew she was going to spend a long time in the sun. Like many natural redheads, she didn’t do too terribly well in the. She didn’t burn like her mother, she just broke out into blankets of freckles that always left Lena ecstatically calling them ‘cute’.
She went to farmer’s markets all the time, but she hadn’t been to this one and she was honestly getting sick of the restaurants they had been stopping at. She finally had a stove and she demanded they pick up things to cook. Vegetables, she had insisted after seeing the bulk of what Jack had in the cupboards. Veggies and the two of them were going to be healthy for once this week and maybe eat a goddamn salad. Well, she would eat a salad. He would probably have a salad and plenty of extra stuff because just... Jack. She was used to cooking and eating with someone who burned through calories like they were newsprint. She was used to people with natural metabolisms that were in constant overdrive (like her friend Nneoma). When Jack ate real food, he... well he put it away and a paltry salad wasn’t going to be enough. But gods dammit they were eating something green today.
The farmer’s market was certainly going to provide that. She couldn’t believe how massive this ‘small’ farmer’s market was. There were actual barns dedicated to housing things and a full carpark. They had even roped off a nearby field to function as a makeshift carpark and it just boggled the mind.
Jack helped her out of the truck, grinning at her expression as they approached. She had offered to let him borrow a set of her sunglasses, but he simply produced his own. A shame. She kind of wanted to see him in one of the outrageous pairs she had.
The strawberry stall was the first one they stopped at and actually bought something from.
‘As a snack’ Jack had said with a shrug, popping one in his mouth. They were good too, and while she had assumed they would leave some for home, it wasn’t long before the little basket they had was empty, save for a pile of stems that were dumped.
“Hey, Ems. Does this look a-peeling- to you?” She looked over, biting her lip as she tried not to laugh as he held up an orange. The stall owner looked ready to groan, but his wife practically lit up with joy.
“They look good, but...” She reached for her own produce, holding one in each hand “Not a-maize-ing. I’d berry much rather have something a little more sub-lime.”
The stall owner groaned, his wife elbowed him.
“Oat’s so nice to see someone punning along with her papaya. Most kids try to herb their enthusiasm.”
The rest of the day didn’t get much better, pun-wise. Emily guessed they didn’t go more than a minute or two without making some pun, although she had to almost physically drag him away from the corn stall because otherwise, they’d be there until dark or until the owner shot them for the corn-y puns. She would admit that some of his puns were the corn-erstone of their trip.
It was dark by the time they left, two packs of strawberries later and with a produce bag that was more fruit and berries than vegetables. Not enough for a salad, unless they wanted a fruit salad, but some of these were just ideal for tarts. That would be made later. She was exhausted. It was a fun day, but it was still an entire day on their feet.
She set the remaining (extra-large) box of strawberries out of Jack’s reach and far enough that she wouldn’t be tempted, curling up against the door of the truck and slipping off her shoes to tuck her feet up on the seat.
“Good day?” Jack prompted, and she nodded. Despite their best efforts, they had both gotten a little too much sun. She had freckles dotting her arms and a small army of them creeping up her legs and Jack, despite wearing a hat of his own, had gotten a bright red burn along his nose and cheeks and anywhere the sunglasses hadn’t been.
“Really good day.” Emily said, repeating the sentiment of her nod.
It was a fantastic day.

Potion Predicament
Potion Predicament
Esme ran back and forth, Jeremy watching with am amused, yet amazed smile. It was rare to see Esme so inspired and focused. Heck, she only tripped five times today! Six. Esme fell to the ground with a hard thud, grunting. But she simply got another bandage for a bruise forming on her elbow and continued her work. Jeremy focused on her project, which was making a monstrous plant. "This will do...!" he heard her happily agree to herself. She was holding a bottle with a concoction of a lime green glowing liquid. "Soooo..." Jeremy spoke up. "What am I doing here if you're doing all this work?" "Ah! You will be helping me in a few minutes!" she beamed. "Thank you again for coming." Jeremy smiled, "Bah, it was nothing!" She smiled again at him, going to the cauldron in the center of her bedroom and mixing the green liquid in. The brew immediately fizzled and bubbled, a sound of souls screaming escaping from the stream for only a few short seconds. "So... what are you doing again?" "I want to make this monstrous plant!" she giggled. She usually would be annoyed of saying this for the fifth time, but she kept forgetting if she told Jeremy or not about this project. "I want to make this, I need to! My master would GREATLY appreciate it! Maybe even see that I can be a master witch one day! Wouldn't that be amazing!?!" "Yeah, sounds cool!" he gave two thumbs up. "But... why a plant?" "She says she's always wanted one!" "Hmm, I SEED your point!" Jeremy giggled with a snort. Esme could only roll her eyes with a smile as she mixed it, getting ladle. She filled a stone bowl with the brew, giving it a sniff, then immediately scrunching up her nose. "Ulgh!!" she coughed. "That's bitter... maybe some cat whiskers should help." Bowl in hand, she ran over to a shelf, but once again, tripped over and fell on her face. Jeremy gasped and ran over, the potion spraying everywhere in front of her. Jeremy helped her up. "... ow..." "You alright?" "Yeah," she sighed, arranging her hat to be straight. She looked in front of her and gave a gasp. "Oh thank goodness... I thought you-" Before he could say another pun, Esme took hold of his head and turned it to the direction of what she was shocked at. Some of her spilled brew had got on the plant. "... oooohhh..." Realization hit Jeremy like a guillotine. "No!!" she screamed. She grabbed a nearby cloth and wiped the plant. "No no no!" "You know, I don't see why a regular plant wouldn't work," Jeremy added in. "Like a deadly nightshade violet or a not-so-dandelion." "Not now...!" Esme was trying to best to make sure the plant was still salvageable, but it seems it won't be. Defeated, Esme stopped attempting to wipe the potion off of the plant... and gave a little sniffle. "... Esme?" "... I just wanted to make her happy..." Jeremy frowned and floated over, giving her a hug as she wiped some tears. They both turned towards the door, not aware of the plant grow ing numerous moving vines. "It's okay... we can go get her a bunch of grave flowers...!" he rubbed her back. "That would be nice, wouldn't it?" "... y-yeah, but I wanted to prove myself as well," she whimpered, almost in a high pitch tone. "Well you proved enough to me...!" he lowered her hat over her eyes, making her chuckle a bit. "You're dependant and you never give up. Isn't that the best part of being a witch? But also, you know when to ask for help when needed. Honestly, I see you as top ranks!" "R-really?" "Definitely!" he beamed. "How about we get some ice scream? They have boo-berry now." Esme giggled and nodded and walked to the door, Esme taking one last look at her plant. "Ah!!" That was all that could escape her mouth before a vine grabbed her, lifting her into the air. "Esme!!" A vine attempted to grab Jeremy, but it only went through him. "Haha, you can't get me~!" But he saw the plant take a bottle from the shelf and pour it down its own soil, the vines glowing red, grabbing Jeremy. "Dang it!!" "What is this!?" Esme squirmed, trying to escape. "Call it a hunch, but I think you DID make something," Jeremy guessed. Esme looked at Jeremy with a hint of happiness, but that couldn't be seen over the fear she had of what this plant would do. "Wh-what do we do!?" she screamed. "Okay, don't scream...!" Jeremy covered his ears. "I am literally right here." "How can I not scream!? I don't wa-eeek!!" "What!? What's wrong!?" "Hey, no no stop it!!" The vines began to take off Esme's boots, her kicking her feet to try and prevent that. "Stop it!" "Hmm, maybe it likes your boots?" "Stop joking around!" Esme tried again to squeeze out of the vine's grip, but it seemed to be no use. "P-please don't hurt us...!" "I don't think plants have ears. Unless it's ears of candy corn." "Would you please stop!?!" Suddenly, Esme felt something on her left foot; a vine decided to start to tickle her socked toes. She began to giggle and try to kick her feet, but a vine already wrapped itself around her ankles. Jeremy looked over to see what was so funny until he felt his arms being lifted. Before he could say a word, two vines wiggled into his armpits, Jeremy bursting into giggles. "Pfftgeeheeeheehee! Noohohoho!" "Wh-whahahahat is it doing...!?" Esme laughed, now two vines working on her feet. "I dohohohohon't knooohohohow!" One vine slithered down Jeremy's shirt from his sleeve, him squealing and thrashing as it went up and down his side. "EEEEEEeeeeheeheehee!! Nohohoho staaahahahahahahap!!" His plead fell on deaf ears as another vine did the same, but to his other side. "Naaaahahahahaha!! E-Esme! Stahahahahahahap this!!" Esme felt her socks slowly slip off, making her giggle in anticipation. They then ripped off, numerous vines tickling her toes, soles, and knees. "Aaaahahahahaha!!! Y-yoohoohoou think I cahahahahahahan stahahahahahap this!?" "At leeheeheeast tryaaahahahahahaha!!" Jeremy begged. Jeremy then shrieked, feeling one of the vines travel to his belly, wiggling and slithering all around like a deadly cobra. "Aahahahahahahahanything!!! Juhuhuhahahahast do something!!" Esme opened her eyes, laughing hysterically as she tried to think of a plan. Looking over, she saw a red beaker with a skull and cross bones on it. Of course, cyanide! "Aaahahahahahahaha!! I gohohohot a plahaha-EEEEE!!!" The vines eventually found her sides, making her squeal as another vine tickled around her neck, making her hunch her shoulders. "AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! NOOOHOHOHOHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" But Jeremy was going through much worse. The plant already figured out that his tail was SUPER ticklish. So it wasted no hesitation as it held the tip of his tail, Jeremy gasping. "Nooohohohoho!! Wahahahahait!!" The other vines stopped tickling momentarily, giving Jeremy enough time to beg. "Noho! Please don't!! L-look I'll find you a nice flower girl, eh? How does that sound!? J-just please don't tickle my tail!" But the vines didn't like his deal, nor were they going to follow it anyway. Numerous vines tickled up and down his tail, one getting the tip. Jeremy let out a bloody murder shriek, ectoplasm tears running down his cheeks. "AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! STOP IT STOP IHIHIHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" Esme finally got close to the bottle, but she didn't have the strength to aim and throw. She was weak by laughter and her ticklish spots being invaded. "THROOHOHOHOHOW IT!!!!" Jeremy shouted, thrashing. With no time to think, Esme chucked it. Luckily, she made the perfect throw, it landing in the soil. The vines immediately retreated, letting them both go. Landing on the ground, Esme panted as Jeremy stuck himself in midair, wheezing and curling his tail. They both caught their breaths for a few minutes before Jeremy spoke up. "N-nice throw..." "Thanks..." Looking at the plant, they saw a gorgeous flower glowing purple and gold. At that moment, Esme's mother came in. "I'm home!" she smiled. "I got this great deal on toad warts!! Then again, they were on the road, but I had to take the advantage. What did you guy-" She stopped with a gasp, going to the flower. "Is this for me?" "... yeah!" Esme answered, Jeremy nodding. "She did it all by herself," Jeremy added. Esme looked at Jeremy, who smiled back at her. The mother hugged Esme, smiling. "Oh sweetie, this is the best gift I ever got!" she beamed. "I uh... it was no problem!" "Well..." Jeremy would speak up if Esme hadn't wiggled her fingers as a sign to be quiet. "No problem at all."

Simple Seasonal Eating Guide for Families

Simple Seasonal Eating Guide for Families
Table of Contents[Hide][Show]
I’m always looking for easy ways to improve my family’s health and seasonal eating is one of the best. We don’t drive ourselves crazy over it but try to enjoy dreaming up recipes based on what’s at the farmer’s market or in the garden. And it’s not as hard as it seems! Seasonal eating comes naturally when you simply change your mindset and get in touch with where your food comes from.
Why Eat Seasonally?
Eating seasonally has many benefits:
Taste – In-season produce is often much tastier than out of season produce because it doesn’t have to be shipped as far (or at all) and can ripen for longer on the plant.
Health – For the same reason that in-season produce tastes better, it’s also generally higher in nutrients.
Support Local Economy – Eating in-season means you can support the local economy and your local food growers by buying from local farmers instead of the grocery store.
Cost – Eating seasonally also means you’re buying food when it’s least expensive, saving on your grocery bill.
Because I keep a garden, seasonal eating is a necessity. But it’s also a lot of fun to find what’s coming into season in the grocery store or farmer’s market and figure out how to use those items.
How to Eat Seasonally (& Have Fun Doing It)
Moms are often already stretched thin, so adding one more thing to the to-do list can be very overwhelming. Luckily seasonal eating doesn’t have to be another to-do list item. It can be a fun addition to a healthy lifestyle.
Here’s how:
Have a Plan
Having a plan for using seasonal produce is important. If you don’t normally meal plan, now might be a good time to start. I use Real Plans to plan out my family’s weekly meals. It’s much simpler than doing it myself and Real Plans automatically serves up seasonal recipes!
Think Differently
To start eating seasonally you’ll have to change your mindset a bit. Instead of eating blueberries every other week throughout the year you’ll have to find interesting ways to use them in the summer when they’re in season (or frozen ones at other times).
Don’t Overcomplicate
When it comes to finding seasonal recipes for the produce you’re growing or buying locally, keep it simple. Don’t try to cook complicated dishes before you’re comfortable with using certain ingredients together. Stick with simple recipes and build your skills and knowledge base slowly.
What to Do With Seasonal Produce
Once you start to buy produce seasonally, you’ll realize that you end up with a lot of one thing at a time.
Here are some ideas for dealing with large amounts of seasonal produce:
Learn to preserve – If you can buy or grow lots of tomatoes in the summer, learn to can or freeze them for the winter. Do the same for other produce you find in-season. If canning isn’t your jam (pun intended), try pickling, freezing, drying, or fermenting to extend the life of in-season foods.
Adjust to eating more when it’s fresh – We tend to eat the foods we like at regular intervals all year. But seasonal eating asks us to eat a lot of one item when it’s fresh (and little or none at other times of the year). That means we might eat lots of berries in the summer, but stick with citrus fruits in the winter.
Bake with the extra – Another option is to make sweet breads, muffins, casseroles, and quiches with whatever you have a lot of and freeze those for later.
When I get a large harvest from my garden or the farmer’s market I do all three of these things! It gives the kids something to look forward to (all the strawberries you can eat in June!) and adds routine to the year.
What’s in Season Now?
What produce is in season depends on where you live in the world. The easiest way to know what’s in season is to go to your local farm or farmer’s market and see what they are producing. You can also check a state-by-state seasonal food guide.
But local foods are not the only in-season foods. Foods that travel from other climates also have a season.
For example, most Americans can’t buy local citrus fruits, but the winter is the best time to get them at their freshest and lowest price. Here’s what to look for at the grocery store or farmer’s market for the freshest produce year-round:
January
For most people, January is a time of rest and reflection. The garden has long been put to bed and the season calls for warm soups and stews as well as lots of starchy vegetables. Here’s what’s in season in January:

It might be overwhelming to start eating more seasonally but it’s not as difficult as it seems. You don’t need to go all-in and only eat local or in-season produce. Simply add more seasonal produce to your meal plan as you can. This is a great way to get you thinking seasonally. Soon you’ll be eating and serving as much seasonal produce as you want!

Hey I just thought of this. What if UT and UF Sans, along with US and SF Papyrus went to a sports event with their S/O and they end up getting 3 of the foam fingers, and the next morning the S/O is wearing 2 of them with socks on?
This made me laugh a bit.
Sansy boi:
Sans sold water sausages hot dogs at the sports event, so he found out from the corn dog vender that you'd bought three of the foam fingers. The next morning he wakes up and just laughs. God bless your adorableness. Also puns.
Red Boi:
He's wondering why the hell you got three in the first place, but he's too lazy to ask questions so he just rolls with it. When he saw you wearing two of them he's still half asleep so he's just like, ok? And then he wakes up. “That’s gotta be a foul play.” “what do you mean?” “Your to cute sweetheart, it's gotta be against tha rules!” He drags you in for cuddles.
Stretch bean:
He's selling corndogs and sees someone buying the foam hands. When he goes to chat with the Hotdog vendor he finds out that you were doing the same thing. This boi decides to buy one more glove. When he sees you the next day he puts on a pair of them himself. Blueberry is screaming. Don't worry tho the berry is just screaming in laughter.Puppy Rus:
Rus is the one who bought you three because they had three different things written on them and he didn't know which one to get. The next day he just laughs and pulls you back into bed for cuddles. You are truly too cute for this puppy.

Brisbane’s best vegan food options
Vegan food in Brisbane has exploded in recent years. The city is brimming with restaurants and cafes and is now home to a veritable smorgasbord of meat-free eateries.
Whether it’s a pre-party pitstop, a posh night out or a recovery breakfast, here are some of our favourite plant-based food options.
Best Vegan Breakfasts
Dicki’s Breakfast Burrito at Dicki’s, New Farm
The crunchy-coated tofu nudges the breakfast burrito with its scrambled tofu into first place. You’ll need to wrap both hands around this hunger-busting big boy, stuffed with tofu, spiced rice, black beans and kale. It’s so good even hardcore carnivores will be licking their salsa-slathered fingers.
Maple Honeycomb Yoghurt at Naim, Paddington
The staff at Naim always seem happy to make adjustments across the menu. But for a straight up no-substitutes breakfast, we reckon you can’t beat the honeycomb yoghurt. Imagine a ‘Crunchie’ but made with maple syrup instead of honey, crumbled atop coconut yoghurt with buckwheat and date granola and a little passionfruit to counter the sweetness.
Zucchini Cornbread at Putia Purefoods, Banyo
Deeply satisfying, the long list of delicious ingredients in this umami-bombed dish include a quenelle of cashew and tahini cream atop slow-braised beans and crisp ‘Buffalo’ mushrooms on toasted corn and zucchini bread. Order it, or risk serious plate envy.
Honourable vegan food mentions:
Brioche French toast with caramel sauce at Grown, West End
Big Breakfast at The Green Edge, Windsor
Deluxe vegan pho at Café O’Mai, Annerley
Best Vegan Burgers
Cryptid Classis at Netherworld Arcade, Fortitude Valley
We love the fact that it’s carnivores who have to make the menu adjustments for a change. The default setting across Netherworld’s menu, from hotdogs to ‘mac n cheese’ is vegan food, with carnivores able to request meat substitutes. The Cryptid Classic is a standout in the burger selection – a Japan meets California mash-up of a bun encasing crispy fried tofu, pickled ginger, nori, lettuce, tomato, wasabi mayo and avocado
The One Burger at Yavanna, Paddington
There’s a lot to love at Yavanna. But The One Burger is a classy act, with a surprisingly meaty-tasting patty, slathered in a cheesy sauce, with pickles, lettuce and chipotle mayonnaise. Generous and incredibly filling, it comes with a serve of excellent chips and aioli.
The Aussie Burger at Grassfed Vegan, South Brisbane
Remember roadhouse burgers complete with fried egg, pineapple and beetroot? You can get it here, albeit in a vegan food version. The beefy-tasting patty on a slightly toasted bun comes with red onions, the divisive pineapple, a vegan egg, beetroot sauce, ‘cheese’ and pickles.
Other vegan burgers worth crossing town for:
Moo-Free Burgers – Northlakes, Redbank Plains & their roving food truck
ABC Burger at Brewski, Brisbane City
The Beetroot Burger at Greenhouse Canteen, South Brisbane
Best Vegan Pizza
‘Chorizo’ Pizza at Sorellina, Woolloongabba
Sorellina do a range of properly charry, woodfired pizzas with the possibility of swapping out mozzarella for vegan cheese. Order the vegan chorizo pizza as it comes though. The thin chewy crust topped with vegan chorizo, cheese, onion, and basil, with a just a hint of smokiness from the wood-fired oven is a winner.
Fungi Pizza at Arrivederci Pizza, Milton
There’s an entire vegan food menu here, including more than half a dozen pizzas made with vegan cheese, from a Mediterranean to a green-topped rocket pizza. We reckon the Fungi Pizza is just a little bit luxe, with vegan cheese, mixed mushrooms, spinach, red onion, walnuts and a judicious dollop of truffle oil.
Beets & Pieces at The Burrow, West End
It’s all good until you get to the cheese on this pun-ily named pizza, however it can be swapped for vegan cheese. With wilted greens, braised beetroot, cashew ‘cheese’, marinated walnuts and port reduction on a tomato and cheese base, eating it feels almost virtuous.
For another slice of vegan perfection, try:
Vegerama at Salt, Meats, Cheese, Newstead
Pitstop Pizza, Coorparoo
Big Vegan Night Out
Vegan Degustation at Bacchus, South Bank
Opulent Bacchus is the perfect place for date night. Plates are modernist works of art with the seasonally changing vegan degustation menu starting off with bread and a selection of amuse-bouche and finishing with an indulgent dessert and petit fours. Matching wines are optional.
Omnivore Menu at Detour, Woolloongabba
Set in a lovely light-filled space overlooking the foodie cul-de-sac of Logan Road, Detour plays no favourites with the menu divided into omnivore and carnivore. However, if we had to play favourites, the king brown mushrooms with chestnut pâté, sage, and sunflower seeds or the baked eggplant with saltbush tapenade, green strawberry and harissa would get our vote.
Vegan Degustation at Urbane, Brisbane City
Soft lighting, comfortable chairs, beautiful linen and crockery, and smooth-as-silk service set the scene for a special night out. Urbane were the pacesetters for the vegan food revolution in Brisbane and their ever-changing vegan degustation is served as either 5 or 7 courses with or without matching wines.
For more vegan date night ideas:
Vintaged at the Hilton, Brisbane City
Otto, Brisbane City
Little Valley, Fortitude Valley
Best Vegan Desserts
Berry Sinful Donut at OMG Donuts, Carseldine & Milton Markets
These gluten-free, nut free and vegan donuts were named for customers reactions on first tasting them. Unbelievably light, they come dusted in a selection of whole fruit, spices and vegetable-infused sugars. We particularly like ‘Berry Sinful’ with fresh raspberries, cacao, coconut milk, salt and chilli. Keep an eye on the OMG website for their market calendar.
Salted Caramel Cupcakes at Veganyumm Bakehouse, Everton Park
This vegan bakery does a roaring trade in gooey, rich salted caramel-topped cupcakes for good reason. However, there’s also a fine selection of brownies, doughnuts, cheesecakes and custard tarts as well as hard-to-believe-it’s-vegan celebration cakes. We promise we won’t judge if you pretend it’s your birthday.
The Happy Vegan Churro Bowl at San Churro, Various Locations
San Churro’s churros have always been made to a vegan recipe. Recently, they’ve upped the ante with a vegan food menu that includes a ‘don’t think about the kilojoules’ churro bowl. Rolled in cinnamon sugar and filled with salted caramel and honeycomb gelato, churros come drizzled with dark chocolate. Oh and topped with fresh strawberries and smashed Oreo cookies. Delish!
Put the diet on pause with these other vegan treats:
Vegan brownies at Dello Mano, New Farm
Peanut Butter Gelato Pops at Ciao Gelato, Nundah
Vegan chocolate cake at Jocelyn’s Provisions, Fortitude Valley, Albion & Camp Hill
