Tumblr media
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Birthday letter
❝Hey there!
Guess what day it is? If you guessed Birthday of most cutest person walking on earth, then you got that right! You didn't just thought I'm gonna forget, did you?
First of all, the best thing about birthdays... wishes! It's finally time to tell you all the little feelings of mine with no lies~ I know I may always seem playful but hopefully you can forgive me for little bit of seriousness for a little while. I just wanted to thank you for your patience and the attention you always spoiled me with. If there's a person that deserves unforhettable birthdays, it'd be you! And that's what'll be my goal for this day. So how about you text me once you ready this so I won't accidentally spoil this for you and I could treat you to little fashion and baking date? Or we could just order something and watch a movie! Or go out somewhere fancy~? It's up to you! It's YOUR day so I want to make sure you'll have the most fun. And before you say anything... I will have fun too! Don't worry about me!
Have you noticed I missed something? I certainly did! Happy birthday, mizu-nights!!
-your cutie, Mizuki ;p❞
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Birthday party
↳ ❝ Lively party ❞
Mizuki entered the room with a big smile and you can't hide they had loudly entrance. They immidietly hugged you tightly and handed you their gift.
"Happy Birthday, cutie!! Wish you the very best and even more happy hangouts with your favorite partner~"
They gave you a small wink, joking around a bit with their ego, just to make you chuckle slightly.
"C'mon! It'll take some time untill rest arrives so let's go to dance floor! There are already many people around so no use in waiting."
They just grabbed your hand and pulled you inside. You managed to just put their gift on nearest table to not dance with bag in hand and followed your partner. Maybe they were a bit too eager but that's what you loved about them~
And you also knew one thing... they're definitely gonna do their best to make it the best birthday party you had yet. Be it with thinking of many games you all could play or by dancing and chatting with you, making sure you feel like their special person, which you of course are.
↳ ❝ Calm party ❞
You were honestly just looking through your shelves in hopes of finding something sweet or generally a nice snack for sleepover with your partner. You were starting to loose hope when you heard a knock on the door... and after opening it, you saw Mizuki with bag full of sweets.
"Let's make our dentists mad today, what do you day?"
"Heh~ Sure, let's be sugar criminals together."
You invited them with gentle smile and led them to your room where you two sat down comfortably and maybe even changed into pijamas for more comfort.
"So! I prepared a little dress up show for us~ And the clothes are actually in your birthday gift! So no excuse to you saying no to opening it~"
They had visible from on their face but upon remembering some may feel uncomfortable with opening gifts in front of person that gives it to them, they calmed down, wanting to assure you, to not make this day uncomfortable for any of you.
"But if your wallet don't want this much... I have some movies that caught my guard and what we could give them a try and share each other's opinion at the end!"
They then wrapped their arm around your shoulder, already turning their phone on, just trembling to hear your answer!
"So? What will it be? Dress up show or a nice movie?"

Whumpmas in July: "Look At Me"
Fandom: Naruto
Rating: T
Pairing: Hatake Kakashi/Umino Iruka
WC: ~1640
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
A/N: I don't know how parole works in the best of cases so here's me avoiding the issue by having Iruka avoid it too.
Is this whump? It references whump, and it's heavy on the care/comfort, and honestly I'm using this month as a whump series and like. Today I just needed some fluff.
A continuation from "Mistake"
For @whumpmasinjuly prompt list
Read On The Archive
~
For the first time in a long time—ever, really—Kakashi finds that he’d rather stay in the village as opposed to leaving for days or weeks at a time for missions. Alas, he is one of Konoha’s best assets, and a weapon is only good if you use it, right? So he receives his missions and keeps his pouches stocked and his kunai sharp, as always.
The change in his routine is Iruka. Then again, the change started back when he started seriously flirting with the other man; the routine hasn’t changed now that they’re dating, but it certainly makes it easier and they get less odd looks. But he makes time before he leaves to see Iruka and say goodbye. Even if he has to leave in the middle of the night.
It was how he let Iruka know he was serious about pursuing a relationship—that he woke Iruka up, tapping on his window, two weeks before they actually started dating to say goodbye. Iruka had worried over him, asked about his supplies, offered ration bars, and asked him to come home safe. It was what pushed him through sleepless nights, waiting for the right time to strike; that soft, sleepy, “come home safe.”
It still is.
When he gets back, every time without fail, he checks in with Tsunade, and then his very next stop is wherever Iruka is. He’ll sit on the roof of the Academy, wait at the Mission Desk, help with grocery shopping; whatever Iruka’s doing, Kakashi needs to be near him to come down from the mission high. Iruka seems to understand and doesn’t push. It’s wonderful.
~
He’s two kilometers away from the village—two kilometers from getting to see Iruka again—when he notices movement in the trees a ways out. And sure, it could be another Konoha shinobi coming or leaving, but with the state of things can Kakashi really take that chance? If they’re ANBU, he won’t notice them. If they’re Konoha shinobi, they’ll appreciate his checking in. If they’re someone else… well, T&I has some fresh blood who need to whet their chops, last he heard.
Kakashi flashes silently through the limbs of the trees, looking for whoever caused that movement he saw. He moves for about five minutes before coming to the edge of a small clearing and stuttering to a halt.
Chakra wire?
He lightly runs his finger along it, testing the structure. Different villages have slightly different ways of building their tools. This is Konoha wire. Why so far out of the village, though?
A quick glance with the sharingan shows Kakashi a few more traps set up around the clearing, along with an opaque fūinjutsu barrier in the center. A barrier that he recognizes.
He smiles and replaces his hitai-ate. Carefully, he makes his way through the traps—now that he knows who set them, seeing the non-lethal way to get through them is fairly obvious. Iruka would never set traps with ways through if he were on a mission, but this close to the village? He likely feels safe enough to set his traps like such.
Kakashi stays vigilant until he reaches the edge of the seal and presses his palm along the firm, cloudy barrier. He only needs to wait a few seconds before the barrier turns translucent, and soon after that breaks apart completely.
Iruka sits cross-legged in the grass grinning up at him, a scroll spread out in front of him. “Hello, Kakashi,” he says.
“Hello dear,” Kakashi responds, and bends over to kiss Iruka’s head. Iruka closes his eyes and leans into the affection given, and Kakashi’s home. He steps around Iruka’s side and looks over the scroll. “What are you up to out here?”
“Practicing a barrier seal,” Iruka shrugs.
“And this couldn’t be done at your home? Or at a training field at the very least?”
Iruka shrinks.
Suddenly worried, Kakashi kneels in front of him and offers his hands. “Iruka?”
“I’m… Um.” Iruka slowly takes his hands, and takes a few deep breaths. “I’m okay,” he says in a smaller voice.
“You promised,” Kakashi says. “Just before I left, remember?”
“I do. I’m sor—” Iruka chuckles softly. “Thank you for reminding me.”
Kakashi brings their hands up to kiss Iruka’s fingers, smiling. “You’re welcome. Can you tell me what’s wrong?”
“I really don’t want to talk about it.”
“But should you?”
“Probably.”
Kakashi stares pointedly at him. They had spoken, just a few days before he left for his mission, about keeping open communication; they’d discussed Iruka’s triggers, his tells, his limits. They’d discussed Mizuki and how he’d treated Iruka, and small changes Iruka can make to shift his perception of the events of back then and how he responds to potentially triggering material now. They’d also heavily discussed Iruka seeing a therapist; while Kakashi was versed in field response for trauma patients, it won’t help Iruka in the long run. He would try anything to help Iruka, but he’s trained to take lives, not… whatever it is therapists actually do.
(He wouldn’t know; he’s been avoiding his own semi-required therapy for over ten years.)
Iruka swallows, saying, “Mizuki is receiving a hearing today for a reduced sentence. They had to move him through the village, from the prison to the Tower. I came out here to avoid any chance of seeing him while he’s in transit.”
Kakashi can be honest. He stopped really listening when he heard Mizuki and reduced sentence.
He’s been fantasizing about killing this man for weeks, and casually hating him ardently for over a year. Mizuki is out of prison for one day. He’s receiving a hearing to determine if he can get a reduced sentence.
He stands up and brushes himself off.
“Kakashi?”
He grins down at Iruka. “It seems I have another assassination to complete, excuse me.”
He turns and readies to jump back into the trees, but Iruka reaches out and snaps his hand around Kakashi’s ankle. Kakashi doesn’t turn back around.
“Kakashi please. Please don’t do this.”
“He’s a threat to the members of this village,” Kakashi says nonchalantly.
“He has plenty of guards and won’t leave their custody. Plus he has no way to mold chakra anymore. Mizuki’s no threat.”
“He’s a threat to you.” Kakashi surprises himself with how dark his voice gets.
“Mizuki hasn’t been a threat to me for over a year, and even then—”
“I have an obligation as your partner to end him. He—” Kakashi can’t say it. If he says it, abused, aloud, it becomes real. And if it becomes real, Kakashi will lose himself to hate and the chase of revenge.
Iruka hears him anyway. The fingers around his ankle tighten. “Kakashi, look at me.”
“Iruka—”
“Look. At. Me.”
He does. He turns his face down to Iruka and sees him, really sees him. Iruka has a gentle smile in his eyes and a relaxed posture. His lips are still in a firm, steady line, but he’s… he’s calm. He’s—
“I’m okay,” he says. “Really. Tsunade-sama… she already assured me that this hearing is just a formality given to prisoners around their one-year point, and that Mizuki isn’t getting out.”
“But—”
“Would you just… Just stay?” Iruka lets go of his ankle and folds his hands together in his lap. “I did come out here to be alone, but now that you’re here, well,” he smiles, but looks away like he’s embarrassed to say, “I’d rather be with you.”
Kakashi glances back towards the village. Two kilometers away, Mizuki was walking around with minimal guards. It would be so easy to just… slide a kunai across his throat and flash-step away.
“Besides,” Iruka continues. “While I appreciate you wanting to defend me, I’d rather Mizuki stay alive.”
“What? You’d—!”
“I’d rather he live with what he’d done, live with the consequences of his actions,” Iruka says, “than get to have the easy way out and die. He doesn’t deserve it. He’s not worth it.”
Kakashi doesn’t agree. But…
He can cede that it’s not his call to make.
“I have to send in a mission report,” he says quietly.
“Can I help you write it?”
Kakashi nods; the mission he’d been on was an A-rank, and Iruka has that clearance. He sits down in the grass beside Iruka and waits while his partner takes another sealed scroll from a pouch on his vest and releases the seal. A small stack of blank mission reports appear in place of the seal, along with a pen. He smirks at the readiness of his partner, leans against his shoulder, and waits for him.
Iruka eventually says, “Whenever you’re ready,” pen ready.
Kakashi begins giving his report orally, and Iruka writes it down for him. After a few minutes, he’s relaxed and calm enough that he can appreciate Iruka talking him down from going to kill Mizuki.
He finishes. Takes the pen from Iruka, signs the report, and tosses it away; then, he asks, “How secluded is this clearing?”
“I’ve been out here all day, but you’re the only person I’ve seen,” Iruka shrugs.
“Good.”
He slips his mask down, tips Iruka’s chin up, and murmurs, “I’d like to kiss you, if that’s alright with you?”
Iruka blushes; it’s always worth asking him for permission for this reason alone. “You don’t have to ask for that, Kakashi,” he responds, and brushes their lips together.
“I like asking,” he whispers into Iruka’s mouth. They lay down in the grass and forget the world. His report is finished and he can turn it in when Iruka’s ready to head back to the village. They kiss gently for hours, hold each other for hours, breathe and look at the sky and live in the leaves.
And for one afternoon, the shadow of Mizuki isn’t a part of their lives.

Eleven
Tumblr media
.02  -  Ready to Run
synopsis: the number Eleven had always appeared in milestones of your life. it was a constant, and you didn’t know why. but you would soon find out when you study abroad in japan and meet Him.
pairing: tsukishima kei x fem!reader
warnings: none!
masterlist: here :)
a/n: hey y’all! I decided to give tsukishima’s mom a name, just to give her more familiarity for the story. I stuck with the ‘moon’ name theme, so her name is mizuki, meaning ‘beautiful moon’ or ‘water moon’. also, English will be in bold. btw, see if you can spot the lil meme ;) I hope you guys enjoy <3
     previous || next
There’s a lightning in your eyes I can’t deny. Then there’s me inside a sinking boat, running out of time.
“We have now landed at our final destination, Japan. Please make sure to gather all of your belongings. Thank you for choosing to fly with us, we hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.”
Antsy, you jump up impatiently, cursing yourself for choosing the window seat, having to now wait a god-awful two more minutes to leave the plane.
Eventually, crisp, non-artificial and suffocating air blows your through hair as you rush outside to flag down a taxi to take you up north. The drive wasn’t too long, which was too bad. The journey to Miyagi prefecture was breathtaking, with mountains, scenery and all. Soon you stand outside a gorgeous residence with a quaint cherry blossom tree in the front.
You let out a quick sigh, and play with your locket, hoping to not let your nerves get the best of you as you walk up to the door. For some reason, knocking on doors and ringing doorbells and such made you nervous, so the second you step up to the door, you say a quick prayer, muster up all the courage you could, and are about to knock, when a pretty, blonde-ish woman greets you with a flourish.
“Welcome! We’re so excited to meet you! Here, let me help with your things, you’ve probably had a long trip…”
“Thank you,” you bow quickly before the two of you start hauling in your luggage.
“My name is Tsukishima Mizuki, but please, call me Mizuki, if you’re comfortable enough. I hope you don’t mind, it’s just me in here for the time being. I actually took time off of work so I can be here when you arrived! I have two sons, so I’ll admit it’ll be a nice change to have a girl in our company,” she laughs. Her warm, light-hearted laugh was enough to put you at ease and let down your guard.
“Thank you,” you say again. “My name is (y/l/n)(y/n), but call me (y/n).” You offer a small smile.
“Well, (y/n), I’m so glad you’re able to stay with us.” She leads you over to the dining area so the two of you can sit. “I can’t say I’ve ever met anyone from the U.S... I’ve always wondered what it was like over there...so I apologize in advance if I pester you with questions, haha! Sorry, sometimes I’m super curious about other cultures, so please let me know if I’m ever invading your space, then I’ll zip my lips!” Mizuki makes a motion of zipping her lips shut, then puts her imaginary key in her pocket.
You chuckle. “I don’t mind at all. I’m actually curious about culture over here as well. That’s part of why I chose to study over here!”
Mizuki ‘unzips’ her lips and forms a small ‘o’ in surprise. “Ohhh! How exciting! So, if you don’t mind me asking, did you study the language before you arrived? You speak Japanese very well! And that reminds me, you’re from the US, so you can speak English also, right?” she clearly is excited to get to know you, and the longer you converse with her, the more you feel comfortable.
“Well, my mother is Japanese, so she taught me the language. My dad was born and raised in America, so yeah, I am fluent in both English and Japanese. By the way, you have a very beautiful home, or, in translation, you have a very beautiful home.”
Mizuki laughs again. “You are one interesting girl, (y/n). I can already sense you will bring some joy to this home. On a different note, my boys will be home soon. My oldest, Akiteru, isn’t home that often due to work, but he promised to stop by so he can meet you. So you might see him around once in a while. My youngest, Kei, is actually your age. He goes to Karasuno High School not too far from here. You’ll see each other a lot, so if he's ever disrespectful, make sure to report to me,” she playfully demands.
You fake salute with a hearty “Yes ma’am!”
You both chuckle, then Mizuki checks the time. “They’ll actually be home soon, so I should start making dinner. Is there anything you prefer to eat? I can try to look up some American recipes, but I’m afraid it won’t taste the same…”
Waving your hands frantically, you fuss, “There’s no need to go through all that trouble! I’ve eaten plenty of the same meals you’ve had, so honestly, anything you make is fine. I might add I’m not a picky eater either, so hopefully that makes things easier!”
Mizuki hums and nods her head. “I’ll make some ramen tonight then. That sound alright to you?”
“As long as you let me help!”
                                  ─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
The past couple of hours had been the best you’ve had in a while. You can already tell that the stay in this particular household was going to be pleasant and serene.
Or so you thought.
Dinner was finished and the table was set. All that was left was the arrival of the boys. According to Mizuki, each boy came home at a certain time every day. If that was true, then Akiteru would be here in three minutes, and Kei would be here in Eleven.
You didn’t want to read too much into that.
As expected, Akiteru arrives exactly three minutes later, where he swings open the door with a grin. “Where’s this mysterious creature that my mom’s been babbling about for months?”
Laughing, you get up and raise your hands in the air. “Most likely me!! And for months? My file can’t have been that interesting, was it?”
Akiteru chuckles, “Seemed like any old generic file to me. Probably the fact that you’re from America is the one thing that did it.”
The two of you turn to Mizuki who giggles and shrugs, “Can’t blame me can you?”
“Seems fair. My name is Tsukishima Akiteru, but Akiteru is just fine honestly. We only see each other sometimes, but feel free to ask me any anything! I’ll write down my phone number for you later. I would do it now but I’m starving! Long day at work...Ah, look at me babbling and being rude. What’s your name by the way?”
“(y/l/n) (y/n), but just call me (y/n), I don’t mind.”
“First name basis in only five minutes! Who woulda thought...ha, not me! Anyhow, I hope you’ll enjoy being here, we’ll be like a little family. Big brother Akiteru will take care of you whenever you need help or advice. Okay?”
You nod excitedly. “I’ve never had a brother. Or any siblings. This should be fun then…”
Akiteru laughs. “Well I’m glad to be the first closest thing to a sibling you’ll have. Speaking of which, where’s Kei? I’m so ready to eat!” As if on cue, his stomach rumbles.
Mizuki checks the time. “Any minute now.”
Just then, the door creaks open, and the room goes silent as you hear a shuffling of shoes being taken off. As his footsteps move closer, you can already tell this first meeting wouldn’t be as smooth as Mizuki’s or Akiteru’s.
Kei walks in with multiple bags on. You swear you can catch slight whiff of his scent from where you’re sitting.
A light mix of sweat and cologne? Mint?
You can’t put your finger on what it is, but it smells good…
And just as quick as the scent came, it was gone. Kei was gone.
You wondered what you missed in the split second you zoned out, but it must’ve been nothing due to the fact that Kei’s face showed surprise as he walked back in the room. You tried not to notice how attractive he was, despite only wearing a plain crescent sweatshirt and gray sweats. Nor the fact that even though his pj’s were plain they still clung to the evident muscles he had. Not the way those sweatpants hung loose on his hips and fit in just a certain place either…
Or definitely not the fact that he was now staring at you.
You felt yourself blush, and seemed to forget how to talk.
He beat you to the punch though.
“Who’s she?”
Mizuki shook her head. “This is (y/l/n) (y/n). She’s from the United States and is going to be staying with us for a while. Be nice and introduce yourself.”
Kei huffs. “I’m Tsukishima.”
Akiteru catches on to the lack of interest. “Tsukishima? No first name either lil’ bro?”
“Kei. Tsukishima Kei. But we’re not on first name terms yet, so I didn’t think it mattered. Haven't seen you in a minute Akiteru, is she why you’re home today?”
His big brother, still trying to spark some interest, pipes up, “Yeah! I mean, it’s not every day you get someone from a whole different country moving in. Plus you’ll be school buddies! Come on lil’ bro get excited about that at least!”
Kei, or Tsukishima apparently, slowly sits down as he took that fact in. “Is she really going to the same school as me?”
His mother sensed the displeasure in his voice, but she wasn’t going to take that attitude toward you, the new guest. “Yes, Kei, and you show her around the campus tomorrow when she starts.”
Tsukishima huffed again, “Do I really, I doubt we’ll have the same class, plus I have practice and a whole lot of other things to do.”
You try to ease the tension. Speaking for the first time, you announce, “It’s okay, I actually have to meet the vice principal for my schedule, then I’ll see what happens from there. So don’t worry about it!”
Tsukishima turns to you. He smirks. “So she does speak.”
You blush again, but are quick to retort, “Yup, in both Japanese and English, whichever you prefer.”
There’s a falter in his smirk, showing that he didn’t expect you to have a comeback.
“This will be interesting,” he simply states.
He says nothing else for the rest of the night. Just silently listens as Mizuki and Akiteru ask endless questions about you and your home country.
Though he remained silent, his presence seemed to affect you the most, even as you all retire to your separate rooms. Even as you lay in bed and stare at the ceiling, knowing he was in the next room. Even as you closed your eyes and drifted off to sleep.
For the first time since your parents’ accident, you had no nightmares.
There's a devil in your smile that's chasing me. And every time I turn around it's only gaining speed.
