Ushijima knows he has fans. He might be simple-minded and a little oblivious, but he’s not stupid.

He knows girls stare at him from the balcony during practice. And he can hear their giggling when he passes them in the halls. Tendou often calls him Shiratorizawa’s Golden Boy, which Ushijima wholeheartedly disagrees with, but never voices out loud. Tendou often says strange things. He doesn’t mind.

Ushijima doesn’t understand his popularity. Sure, he is a good player. The best ace in the prefecture. But most of these girls have no understanding of volleyball. So why are they spending hours upon hours in the stands, watching him play?

“They’re not watching the match, Wakatoshi-kun. They are watching you.”

Hm. Strange. His play is very consistent. Watching him do the same thing over and over has to get boring, especially when they aren’t watching for the sake of the game.

But then he sees you for the first time.

You are in his third year English class. In his three years of high school, Ushijima is sure he has never seen you before. Because if he had, there was no way he would forget you.

He is curious. And a little enamored by you.

You are, by all means, a regular girl. You sit on the same chair every day, bring your own bento instead of eating from the cafeteria. There are so many tiny details about you that Ushijima has learned, and he finally understands why girls would stay hanging over the gym balcony to watch him for hours, because he could watch you for hours too.

You are very smart, he could tell. You always answer correctly when the teacher would call on you, and he has glimpsed at your notes. Simple, but neat and easy to understand, just the way he likes it. There are no crazy colors and highlighters, and your handwriting is neat and beautiful, just like the rest of you.

You are also quiet. You have a select group of friends that you talk to, and while you are nice to anyone who interacts with you, you don't go out of your way to stand out. Again, Ushijima loves that. It seems he loved everything about you. All the minor details that make you a little bit more unique to everyone else.

When you show up at his game, he nearly loses his focus.

It in’t an important game by any means, just a practice match with another local university team. So why are you here? Have your friends dragged you along? Or are you here by your own volition? Ushijima feels how sweaty his palms are when he clenches his fists, and it surprises him.

Is he….. nervous?

Why? Because you are watching? How ridiculous. Ushijima has never once doubted his own strength, or his ability to win. How could your presence alter that? The thought annoys him, and he is determined to prove that you being here would not be a hindrance to his play.

Turns out, he needn't have worried. It seems your presence had sharpened his senses more than ever. Shiratorizawa won in straight sets, and of the 50 points they scored, 39 had been from Ushijima’s hand.

“You were on fire today, Wakatoshi-kun.” Tendou comments as the final whistle rings. Ushijima unintentionally glances at you in the stands, cheering for the team. Cheering for him.

His heart is beating a mile a minute, and he doesn’t think it is because of the game he had just played. He hears Tendou let out a dreamy sigh.

Its interesting how his perception of you has been going through stages, ever since you both entered a relationship.

-He's terrible with feelings. He feels like everyone hates him, and he feels like he hates everyone. You'd basically be the only exception, but it means he'll never really let you go.

-He has a lot of sadness and repressed anger (taking into account that in this AU he never killed anyone) so he would be someone quite unstable, he would probably have borderline or bipolar depression, but he wouldn't go to any psychologist.

-He is really unique (especially in the 90s) so it would really be difficult to find someone like Tate.

-He is definitely a pathological liar. He will lie for small and useless things. that you will never discover and that in the end will become true in the story you remember.

Tate dead (Murder house season)

-He doesn't understand the concept of privacy. He doesn't care about looking at your cell phone, or your computer, saying personal things about you to your friends or parents and he doesn't understand you wanting to do things without him/without telling him. If you date him, he literally wants to be attached to your hip. As if you shared the same life.

-He HATES you having parties at Murder House or having your friends over. He will always complain about not getting attention and about how idiots all your friends are.

-Like I said, he's not good with feelings, so the only way he can express himself is by crying. He cries. A LOT. And he always expects you to comfort him (he would also use this to manipulate you if he did something bad)

-He likes to be validated. He's never received this from anyone so if you say nice things to Tate, he'll definitely love it (and probably cry)

-He likes listening more than talking. So sometimes he will sit on your bed, cross his legs and listen to you talking about anything for hours.

-He really likes contact. Be it sleeping hugging you, kissing you, or placing a hand on your thigh . He will always have one finger touching you.

-He will recommend you books, movies, songs and he expects you to like to them all and tell him about them.

-If he is angry about something or someone, he would like to be hugged like the little spoon and have his hair stroked while he complains about something that upset him, eventually, he would get angrier and knock over one of your decorations, or he would punch something, but he would always cry about it (Tate is a good cry baby)

-He would like to hide in places you couldn't predict to watch you. He likes to do this while you sleep, or while you're in the bathtub, just to make sure you're alive and well.

-He hates being trapped in that house so he would never want you to be trapped. He would like you to stay in the house because you want to and not because the supernatural trapped you there.

-He would hate the fact that you have to go to school/college/work because it means he can't check up on you and that you could be in danger.

-He's a bit obsessed with hair. He would love to touch your hair and he would love for you to touch his too.

-He would make very specific and different compliments, never obvious things. "I like the shape of your face", "the smell of your hair is good", "I like your accent", all those things.

-If you smoke, drink or something like that, he will get angry, because that means you can die outside the house and leave him, or die inside the house and get angry with him.

-He protects you from the other ghosts in the house and even from his own mother (who keeps invading your home).

-He would find a thousand things to do with you on Halloween, since it's the only day he can leave Murder House. He would like to do things that make you seem like a normal couple, for you.

-Since he can't be your boyfriend in public, he would like some matching jewelry, some tatto, anything to show that you were his and vice versa.

-He usually feels what you are feeling. If you are angry with someone, he is too, if you are sad with someone, he is too, and so on.

Hear me out headcanons for yandere doflamingo vs yandere sir crocodile with reader who managed to get both their attention

I may have just thought of a whole ass scenario surrounding this idea so bear with me.

Yan!Doflamingo vs Yan!Crocodile

Rating: M (gets a little spicy but no outright smut) Word count: 805

You work for Sir Crocodile as his secretary. You hadn’t expected to get the job but he clearly saw something in you that made him pick you among the other applicants.

It’s hard work but you do it well. He finds himself compelled to get you small gifts, claiming they’re just to show his appreciation for your hard work.

For some reason every time you meet someone you like and try to go on a date with them, there’s a last minute excuse as to why they suddenly can’t be there. You don’t talk about your personal life during work hours, so it never occurs to you that Sir Crocodile’s... intimidating all of your dates away.

Sir Crocodile finds himself in a unique position where he’s getting jealous very easily. He never considered himself the type, but something about you going out with anyone makes his blood boil. He chalks it up to you being a valuable asset that he doesn’t want getting distracted.

He starts keeping you a little closer at hand more and more frequently.

The only person who usually is consistently this close to his side is Miss All Sunday and even then he’s not usually putting his hand on her shoulder and keeping her at his side like he does to you.

Crocodile’s always been a little protective of you as one of his employees, though you never noticed it as a particular brand of protectiveness that only applies to you.

(He keeps insisting to himself it’s to protect a treasured employee, nothing more. He’s in a bit of denial, really.)

One day Crocodile brings you to a warlord meeting as like his stenographer, wanting you to take notes and write up the meeting minutes for him to review again later.

Crocodile sits to your left, keeping your chair as close to him as he could while maintaining a professional appearance.

You’re all business, pushing your reading glasses further up the bridge of your nose as you quietly notate. The first few minutes of the meeting go by smoothly.

Enter Doflamingo, strutting in late like he owns the place.

He was already planning on teasing Crocodile about how his little coup was going. But he didn’t expect Croccy to bring along a cute toy to play with! How fun.

He sits down on your right, and even you can’t ignore the sudden rise of tension in the room as he does so.

Especially since he decides that his chair needs to be even closer to you than Crocodile’s.

As the meeting goes on, you slowly relax, focusing on the task at hand.

That is until you feel a hand on your right thigh. It takes every ounce of energy you have not to let your breath hitch. 

Doffy’s always smirking, so no one else reacts when it gets just a hair wider as he continues carrying on the conversation at hand.

Except Crocodile. You can feel the rage rolling off of him so intensely your legs flinch, squeezing them together and pointing them toward your boss in the hopes that the other warlord will take the hint.

Doflamingo takes it as a challenge.

Your legs get pulled apart by invisible strings and he puts his hand right back where he had it, feeling you up under the table. All the while still participating in the meeting like nothing is going on.

Surprisingly, despite the growing fury on your left, Crocodile maintains his composure, all while silently planning Doflamingo’s demise.

Meanwhile Doflamingo’s thinking about how useful a toy like you would be. You’re behaving awfully well for someone who currently has a hand fondling ever closer to their crotch. Maybe he could convince you to leave the old man and join his family instead.

After the meeting finally ends you quickly excuse yourself to return to Crocodile’s ship before things get any worse.

Crocodile is close behind, his hand on the small of your back as he guides you through the halls of the military base. 

But not before he takes Doflamingo by the collar of his garish shirt and threatens if he ever thinks of touching what’s his ever again, he can expect to lose Dressrosa next.

Doffy’s not even fazed by the threat, smirking as always. Be it beyond him to let someone tell him he can’t have something, but he decides it’s better to let it go this time.

After all, when Crocodile’s plan inevitably fails and it puts you out of work, he can conveniently offer you a new job.

And then I had a couple just one-off thoughts that happen after this:

an analysis: piper calling percy unimpressive

(warning: i wrote this at 1 am)

so basically

remember how we all despised piper mclean when she had the audacity to call our beloved percy “unimpressive” and we all lost our shit on the inside a little bit?

i truly don’t think she meant it in the way we think she did. i think we’re all just defensive of our boy.

piper clearly states that she is comparing percy to jason. first of all, jason is her boyfriend, so of course she’s biased. second of all, hera was manipulating piper to be obsessed with jason. so other guys and girls are automatically unimpressive to her.

and here’s the big thing: piper does not call him unattractive. she does not call him ugly. she simply says he’s not her type. piper is clearly attracted to the “good boy” look. jason is literally your all-american boy. he’s tall with light skin, a sturdy build, neat blonde hair, and blue eyes. part of why annabeth doesn’t trust him is because she is unsettled by his “perfect” appearance. jason is also obedient and well-mannered. he’s your standard good boy.

and the fact of the matter is: percy looks like a “bad boy”. and often, he acts like one too. him and jason are contrasts of each other. a symbolic representation of this: their features. percy has a darker complexion, messy black hair, unique green eyes, and a “sarcastic troublemaker smile.” he’s muscular, but in a leaner and more trim way. he’s tall, but he’s not a towering muscleman by any means. not that jason is either, but don’t forget, percy is a whole one. inch. (GASP) shorter than jason (which to me isn’t even noticeable, so her pointing it out as a flaw just proves that she’s so incredibly biased towards jason.) their other big contrasting feature: their personalities. jason is respectful and well-mannered. very obedient and under control. percy, however, makes jokes during inappropriate moments, talks back to people of power and authority, gets angry quickly, and loses control easily. i mean, literally right after she says this, percy starts insulting the roman god Bacchus and rapidly escalates a situation because of his natural instinct to be disobedient. piper is horrified by him doing this, especially because jason would never. does it make US all love percy very much? yes. but piper isn’t us.

THAT SAID, even she can’t actually call him unattractive. she even went as far to state that she can see why annabeth likes him, which means even her magically-obsessed-with-jason brain can still recognize his attractiveness and see why girls find him appealing. she calls him “cute in a scruffy way,” meaning she thinks that he’s got a disheveled attractiveness to him. she also once said that his pleading eyes are like a cute baby seal’s - even she can’t deny that his eyes are wonderful. so even though piper calls him unimpressive, i think rick put in a lot of clues here showing us that she acknowledges him as a conventionally attractive person, even if she’s not personally attracted to him.

let’s sum it up, shall we?

what does it say about percy? absolutely nothing. piper calling percy unimpressive is an inaccurate and unreliable source when it comes to analyzing percy’s physical appearance, especially if you don’t consider the context. this was rick’s way of showing piper’s clear preference towards jason, just like annabeth has a clear preference towards percy. and even though she said this, rick also made her give us several hints that percy is handsome, just not in a way she’s inclined towards. rick wanted love triangles to be completely out of the question with these 4. he wanted to make it very clear that annabeth had no interest in jason, and that piper had no interest in percy. so since piper is so drawn towards jason, percy had to be very different from him in her eyes.

jason is your a superman, percy is your batman

jason is your captain america, percy is your iron man. some even say spider man.

so put yourself in piper’s shoes: after hearing percy jackson’s name non-stop for 6 months, hearing him compared to jason, hearing of all his accomplishments and how heroic he is - i mean, the guy was literally honored on olympus and offered godhood - she was expecting a stereotypical good-boy hero. a hercules. a superman. your standard muscular blinding-white-teeth-smile hunk. the conventional, well-mannered good boy. and instead she got a wild and untamed, trouble-making bad boy. percy has an edge to him. he’s intimidating and unpredictable. he’s sarcastic and witty. he just looks like he’s up to no good. she wasn’t expecting any of that. that’s not what we’re taught a hero is supposed to be like or look like.

jason is appealing in a “he’d be a respectable and sturdy husband” way.

percy is appealing in a “he’s gonna fuck up my life but i so badly want him to” kind of way. (even though once you get to know him, you see he’s literally the world’s best boyfriend. piper even gets jealous of how loving he is towards annabeth.)

she had this exact idea of what he would be, and he wasn’t that. hence her calling him “unimpressive.” but it says nothing about his attractiveness.

Not fight for the Gods you say? Apollo has no interest in saving humans, especially after what they did to his beloved Artemis. You’re lucky he even likes you so he thinks you’re pushing boundaries and at first, he rejects the request. It’s only when he’s in the ring for his round and looks at how heartbroken you are from the stands on the Humanity section. He decides, in those few seconds, he is in the Gods’ ring but when he wins, he’ll fight for humanity’s salvation

Yes, Apollo is not monogamous. He’s a big player, always hitting and quitting but he’s trying hard to stay loyal and he’s succeeding! Zeus’s sake, praise and encourage him. He needs it

Apollo, for once, is jaw dropped by you opening up about a thought you’ve been having. Children, with him after this whole event?! A God! Such a thing doesn’t exist! He almost choked on the wine he already spat out at Mach five speed. At the end, he doesn’t outright reject the idea of a family once humanity is saved but… he doesn’t know if he’s ready so now, it’s on pause

Buddha

Buddha is the hardest of these three to catch the attention of since he only really does himself but trust me, he will give you back you big white bunny plush… when he wants to, so. It took like two days but once he comes around. He’s genuinely floored by how pastel and little you are. Not a type of human he’s use to

Buddha does end up peacing out right after… as he always does but he eventually cannot stop thinking and wondering about you, even when still following his own road. So, he ends up stomping right up to you almost like a week later, and dragging you with him by force

As the God of Enlightenment soaks in the sun, almost napping, leant against the tree you’re cuddling all your cute little nicknacks with your giant oversized starry hoodie… Buddha can’t help but take a peek and find you precious. Nothing more, nothing less. Just precious

Buddha is the very chill laidback best friend-type of lover. He is a man who listens mainly to himself so he almost doesn’t get coddly and touchy and doting but do not forget, he is possessive. Worse than Apollo, he will not let anybody touch you so he has your hand in his 24/7. Touching means attempting to steal what’s his. He is more chatty, more trusting and him being so casual shows that his love for you is strong

Buddha doesn’t let you, his partner, tell him what to do so don’t really bother trying to convince him… he won’t confide. He only listens to himself and he only follows himself but don’t worry, he does listen to your concerns. He, due to some miracle, changes his mind and suddenly decides to fight for humanity… that’s him showing that he cares for you. He listens, just in his own way that seems kinda dismissive

Please give Buddha a break. He absolutely loves and cares for you, even more than he did for Yashodhara. He just shows it much more different than usual men do and whilst he is a bit of a prick, he never truly pushes past your desires

Buddha is significantly more blunt than his fellow Gods, he will listen to you as you speak on your new dream post this tournament; a family… that goes against his own lifestyle as the Enlightened One. He requires zero attachments— then again, he already has you, an earthly attachment. He is a Monk who rejected sexual contact and producing offspring, he already rejected his first family and he expresses all this to you; no punches pulled

Well. He— could potentially make an one-time exception about no sex and no children for you, your fragile little heart and your rosy plush little smile. He wants to protect that smile
