It's weird that people who claim to understand Vi's personality don't notice that she's changed and evolved for the better. And I'm talking about Vi's hatred of enforcers.

I see a lot of posts criticizing Vi for this. They don't know that one of the messages the Arcane writers want to send us is forgiveness and moving on. Holding on to the past, hating and holding a grudge only makes things worse for a character and increases her pain and problems, as we saw with Jinx and her intense hatred of Piltover, as well as her hatred for Caitlyn increased her suffering, problems and making terrible mistakes. The same thing with Caitlyn, her intense hatred for Jinx made her lose people around her, and increased her suffering and making mistakes as well.

So I don't understand why people want Vi to keep hating the enforcers, I get that they killed her family and locked her in a prison, but seriously guys this is not Caitlyn's fault, Caitlyn was the first person to treat her kindly, Caitlyn didn't care that she was from Zaun, or that she was a stranger and different from her, Caitlyn was the first person to show Vi love and care in a very long time, Caitlyn was the first person to show her that there are good people in Piltover.

The show wants to show us that we shouldn't judge people before getting to know them first, and not because of a bad experience. Stopping my whole life and living in hatred and resentment towards the people who wronged me, this will destroy my psyche.

I know that moving on isn't easy sometimes, but we have to do it for a better future for ourselves and the people around us. And that's exactly what the characters in the show did. Caitlyn gave up her hatred for Jinx for her love for Vi. Caitlyn knew that continuing in the cycle of violence and hatred would destroy her. The same thing happened with Jinx. She gave up her anger towards Vi after she joined the enforcers, in order to be reunited with Vander. She also gave up her hatred towards Caitlyn after she learned that Cait was a good person and not the bad enforcer as Jinx thought her to be in S1. Of course, this was after Jinx saw that Caitlyn helped them.

Caitlyn's desire to help Vander changed her mind. and not only Vander's help and Ambessa's betrayal but also something more important that I'm sure made Jinx change her mind about Caitlyn and later say "you deserve to be with her" to Vi, was when she saw that Caitlyn didn't come to kill her.

This and also for me it was Caitlyn's forgiveness. People overlook this moment so much, but pay attention to Jinx reaction when Cait is walking away after their conversation in the bunker. Jinx who minute before was sure that Cait is here to kill her, has her eye widen to the size of the saucer. When Caitlyn says "hating you I've hated myself" and then walks away Jinx is surprised and Jinx is not kind of a person that is easily surprised.

And I believe that Jinx’s reevaluation of Cait isn’t based solely on something about Jinx herself, but that she has seen her being good and selfless in other regards as well.

(and yeah I indeed wished they would delve deeper into Vi and her trauma instead of a 3-minute music video in ep 5, but what can we do? This is what we got) And tbh it's not that bad, the show was so good and enjoyable. It just needs to focus on the details and read between the lines, as well as rewatching the scenes more than once, because the writers tried to tell the story as well as possible in a short time.

After that, who knows? Maybe Vi joining the enforcers is a good thing for her to help her people, and also to be by Caitlyn's side as her deputy, when Caitlyn is sheriff. Like Cait and Vi will try to fix the enforcers system and make them serve the greater good for both cities.

Jinx & Caitlyn were supposed to be Arcane S2 character foils/parallels but i don't think that show did a good job at fully accomplishing what it planned.

We got a lot of themes that weren't explored enough outside of visuals and i cannot stop thinking about what could've been.

Under the cut I'll share my thoughts about Jinx and Caitlyn being 2 sides of 1 coin and how Ambessa and Sevika are the opposites (mentor figures,if you'll)

What we see in Act 1 of S2 is a direct consequences of what happened in S1. Both Jinx and Caitlyn are "the monster that you created".

Jinx is a victim of systematic oppression: her biological parents were murdered by the enforcers and her sister (a teen) was arrested without anything that resembled a court. Zaun's system was fleshed out by Piltover's oppression which made people (like Silco) exploit its citizens from the inside. Silco loved Jinx but their relationship was still unhealthy which is almost impossible to avoid in Zaun, to be fair.

Caitlyn is a part of the oppressive society. S1 presents her as someone who wants to make a change. After she visited Zaun with Vi she says that people deserve better & acknowledges that council failed everyone. Despite the way she raised she was portrayed as empathetic and tries to "call out" her mother who's a councilor.

At the beginning of S2 both Jinx and Cait experienced a turning point. Both of them were challenged by their grief — Jinx lost her father and Cait lost her mother. These events are directly interconnected and happen after Jinx's "tea party".

Both of their worlds lost colors which continues to culminate through first 3 episodes of S2.

They deal with grief differently:

Jinx is more numb to everything around her. She feels lost, alone and acts reckless. Silco's death reminded her that she's a JINX and there's no one who'd deny this or comfort her.

Caitlyn focuses on her main goal (catching Jinx) through tunnel vision. She makes destructive decisions which affect both Zaun and her relationships with other characters, especially Vi.

The middle of season 2 puts them on two different roads:

Jinx wanted to fix certain things because "she can" and Caitlyn let her anger take ahold of her morality.

This leads to them getting closer to two other characters: Sevika and Ambessa.

Sevika is an unlikely ally to Jinx. After sharing mutual hatred for years they decide to talk about Silco's "disappearance" right at his office. Jinx and Sevika were vulnerable even in the way they sit: they didn't kept an eye contact which would require at least some amount of trust. Nonetheless, they both felt lost and no one would've understood their grief as much as they did together.

All decisions that Ambessa made were to protect her family. Her search for power and weapons was always connected with it. Mel was Ambessa's "anchor", her disappearance blinded Ambessa and pushed her to ruthless decisions. In some way, she can feel Caitlyn's grief too. They both feel as if they failed their families. Medardas and Kirammans do have a reputation to uphold.

So...where did it lead us?

We know that Ambessa was teaching Caitlyn how to fight during the timeskip (luckily, we even got one demonstration on the screen). They spend time together and Ambessa tried to "replace" Caitlyn's mother which can be noticed by the way she calls her "child" and gives lessons from her own experience. They both participated in Zaun's occupation ("paint the town blue" montage) with Caitlyn questioning why violence is always seen as a solution.

During the timeskip Sevika tried to push Jinx toward action and convince her to lead the revolution which Jinx refused to do. One important change is how Jinx introduced Sevika to her hideout and second one is allowed to walk in without any invitations. They seem to be more comfortable in the presence of each other and Jinx freely jokes with Sevika (who's annoyed but doesn't makes a big fuss out of it).

Ambessa and Sevika are on the opposite sides of Piltover vs Zaun conflict. They're defacto "leaders": Ambessa used her warriors to control Zaun and Sevika tried to organise rebellion by getting onboard as many people as possible. But they're not participating in these events by themselves, Caitlyn and Jinx represent them.

Reasons for why this happened differ too: Caitlyn was chosen by Ambessa while Jinx was chosen by people. Jinx is a symbol of freedom and her position as revolutionary (even though only as a concept) fully reflects the difference between oppression vs oppressed.

Sadly, after episode 4 we never got more in-depth look on mentioned dynamics. Caitlyn was quick to abandon Ambessa despite all the risks, Sevika disappeared and never had lines again, Jinx was going through a lot and Ambessa decided to trust Viktor (for some reason).

Caitlyn vs Jinx were a pillar for Piltover vs Zaun conflict in Season 2. They represented two different societies that were shaped by Piltover's ignorance and classism.

When writers decided to resolve their tension in a couple of small scenes,they also decided that oppression can be easily forgotten. I still think that putting Sevika, 1 zaunite, on the council seat while not letting her say anything either wasn't a perfect solution to decades of oppression

I cannot understate how much your Caitlyn portrayal influenced how I see that character in the show. Obviously, I never hated Caitlyn, nor did I hate Caitlyn x Vi as a ship, but it was never something I paid much mind to. Indifference is probably the best term to describe how I was feeling originally about Caitlyn. And then you showed up - and bashed that indifference into a million pieces!

Your Caitlyn is so nuanced. I love how you looked at Piltover and instead of shying away from the challenge in showing Piltover screws up not just the lower class, but the higher one as well, you dove right in and created what I honestly consider to be my Piltover. Even if I may not say it, I feel that a lot of how Vi regards Piltover and feels about it, comes from what you made. I love how you made this city so much more than just a force of oppression and how you find all those little elements, which enrichen it and make it feel like a lived-in place instead of a boogyman.

And then your Caitlyn looks at all of this and more or less spits into its face. XD I love how much your Caitlyn tries to defy Piltover's rigid social etiquettes, yet at the same time, she is still so clearly from Piltover and has an identity which goes back to the Kiramman household. I love how you can tell Grayson influenced her moral compass, but also didn't completely overturn what Cassandra taught Caitlyn.

I love how your Caitlyn never feels like a pushover. She has all those caring and soft traits, all this love and compassion, and yet you still allow her to kick ass! She can keep up with both Jinx and Vi and she is not afraid to arm herself, whether that be with her words or her rifle. I genuinely feel like you made Caitlyn a figure of authority, you have to take seriously. She is honestly the perfect adversary for Jinx and I am 100% sure, this nuanced rivalry would not work if you weren't the one, handling Caitlyn.

At the same time, you made me fall in love with Caitlyn and Vi's dynamic. Without you, I wouldn't care nearly as deeply for this ship. Like I know Caitlyn is important for Vi and Vi loves her, but your Caitlyn really makes me feel like I am actually writing someone who is genuinely in love and would do anything for that person. The way these two click is still so mindboggling to me. We didn't even plan for it and it just happened.

You have a wonderful imagination. I adore your lore, I adore your AU version of Caitlyn. I adore listening to you talk about Piltover or Caitlyn and what you made up or noticed. I adore that you share the same passion for not just writing but worldbuilding and that you are not afraid to share that passion. Your Caitlyn feels so unique as a result. Some part of me wishes she was actually canon.

I really am so glad that I could let you see Caitlyn in a whole new light. I think that's probably something that happens with a lot of people. The indifference or hatred (you don't do that but like, you've heard me talk a lot about it from things I found and how people hate on caitlyn and want jinx to kill her). But just, I love that I could let you see a whole different side to her, to see Caitlyn not as an extension of a romance (which I do love cait x vi) but just, getting to see Caitlyn as her own person.

Honestly, your entire worldbuilding of Zaun and all that goes into it has been my leading inspiration to really build on Piltover! I really wanted to get into how Piltover is so much, oppressive but also, its a city of its own culture too! and how Zaun and Piltover are mirror differences yet so interconnected that despite all their struggles you really can't have one without the other. And digging into these mask that Piltover has, that they are just as monstrous as Zaun yet they try to paint it in a way they they are more civilized. Yet if you look into the shadows you can see where they are just as dark. Just the concept of "who is the real monster?". But also the idea that despite all of this, there are still people who live here, thriving and just trying to survive. Things that make a city worthwhile from the festivities to the market places and that, yet there is corruption but there are still a living thriving people here. Just, a society!

and omg, I love that that is so visible. Caitlyn fighting back against the establishment, still has these influences on her (from her refine cultured way of talking even if she can be a bit blunt at times, or having to look like an elite and even playing the game of politics that she so desperately hates). Like its a part of her despite how much she fights against it (just like vi fights against her zaun culture!). Just, yes!!! So much of this, I want her to clearly show she hates the corruption in the city but it has shaped her into who she is as well.

The whole dynamic with Jinx has been such a joy to entertain because it hasn't felt boring or the same ol same ol. Like, I love that your jinx is ultimately Caitlyn's Moriarty. They are equally matched in brains and their skills with weaponry. an dhow they both fight against each other because they are each others ultimate nemesis. And how, in many ways, Jinx's actions often dictate how Caitlyn reacts. Like that idea (I haven't written up yet) how Caitlyn is going to upgrade her rifle to have different functions from the net gun to electric paralysis bullets. And How Jinx in her own way starts to adapt and try to fight back against Caitlyn due to her actions. Just this constant pull and push between the two of them and yet the hatred never fades. The both see red against each other.

And vi's dynamic with Caitlyn, holy shit, I never expected such a click with them. I really love how they have these dark and dangerous moments, how they are a power couple force to be reckon with, and yet they have these tender soft moments that are uniquely theirs. Others might not get it, but to them its just so nature and tender. And I love how their love is not just instant 'soulmate' status, how they grew together based on their events in the undercity to their struggles in Piltover against the council. And how all of this just bonds them together more. Its a slow but beautiful development of two people who "shouldn't work" in the eyes of society and yet they do and they do so beautifully! I literally can't get over their story we've created!

Honestly, you have been such an inspiration and an encouragement to really dig even deeper into my world building and headcanons, to really dig more into Caitlyn; keeping to what we see in Canon but absolutely crafting this Caitlyn that is solely mine and mine alone. and the fact that you see all of this, that you can feel it and imagine it and that it all feels natural and real to the canon of the show. Just
