Soo, remember in Glorious Masquerade, when Malleus came up with the story that the cause of the Crimson Lotus was unknown, and Rollo was actually trying to save everyone alongside the NRC students?

What if that's another bit of foreshadowing for the end of Book 7?

Briar Valley is in a really precarious position now, still recovering from the Silver Owls, with the Senate mostly taking over while Maleficia grieves, so Malleus overblotting is just another blow to the fae, even if students like Leona, Kalim, Vil and Idia manage to advocate on his behalf.

So why not spin the tale of how there was an unnamed threat on the island that was so Dire (pun intended for Crowley) and all-encompassing that Malleus had to go all out?

To avoid collateral damage and prevent the issue from reaching the rest of the globe, he had no choice but to use his UM to cover the whole island, keeping everyone safe in a peaceful slumber while the threat was dealt with. Luckily, STYX coordinated efforts with the rest of Briar Valley and they managed to subdue the threat both inside and outside the barrier, and everyone is safe now!

That way, the world can see Malleus not as an uncontrollable monster, but as a fierce protector who might go a bit overboard, but means well (also he's a dragon and his remaining family was on the island, so his protectiveness is understandable). Therefore, it's best to befriend the fae and Briar Valley than make enemies out of them!

The only problem is the rest of the student body and staff that saw the overblot at Lillia's farewell party, but I'm pretty sure STYX's Lethe program is back on to deal with the mobs, while the rest of the cast can be sworn to secrecy in exchange for having Malleus owe them a favour (they can use Azul's UM for the NDA).

As for the problem, NRC has been dealing with overblots at least once a month, not to mention the STYX invasion, and the Phantom Dwarves back in the mines, and how Book 7 might introduce the true mastermind and that's what we have to deal with in Book 8... They just have to pick ONE of the options above.

As a sidenote, having Sunset Savanna become Briar Valley's fiercest allies because Leona told his brother that Malleus is his friend would be so funny. Falena sees his depressed brother going to the trouble of making a whole Power Point presentation to convince the council on the benefits of allying to Briar Valley, all to save a school friend, and just decides that Malleus Draconia will have his unending support. Kifaji too.

(Leona has been ignored and belittled so many times that he prepared for the worst and made a whole slide presentation in hopes of defending his point well enough. Shoud've just led with "Malleus Draconia is a friend of mine who just went through a very traumatic experience and I want to help him" Kifaji and Falena would accept in a heartbeat).

Leona and a representation with love topics (female & male)

Everything said on this analysis is just a personal opinion, I don't mean to offend nor step on someone else's view or headcanons. Thanks to @/Viperkun to translate it.

First of all, we need to start from the basics and ask ourselves, Who is Leona Kingscholar? Leona is a complex character, filled by development which not everyone sees through or most of the time tends to not notice. He's a character that tends to have high expectations over a depression pretty deep and prolonged, there´s many themes regarding those feelings of inferiority, demotivation and many others, which leads to his self sabotage. However, at first glance he doesn't allows himself to feel pity towards others due to his own high ego and pride, he's a man that despite finding his own life pretty unfair, keeps going on in his own way and stipule.

Now, how would this affect his romantic relationships? The answer may change depending on the person who is by his side, this includes gender. Leona is very polite towards women since he's from a country which prioritizes them, they're stronger and bigger than the usual males from the same country, and so, even if women doesn't really fit this kind of criteria, he's still going to be respectful towards them.

No, he wouldn't be a role model prince (as an example, Eliza, with who he shared a few words one on one, then nothing more), but he's not going to have thoughts or actions that could be considered nor even be close to the category or definition of "incel".

He's not someone who overpowers by his strength or title over women; yes, he speaks with sarcasm, cynicism, and teasing is his second language, but he would never start any situation in which he would make someone uncomfortable or even less put someone at risk or danger (Overblot aside, since Yuu has no specific gender. If that was the case and Yuu was a girl -just like Savanaclaw's manga Yuu-, it's not that Leona decided to have a breakdown due to her or to hurt her, it was something out of his control due to circumstances)

In the case we talk about a boy, it wouldn't be too different from how we see Leona acting towards the rest of the twst cast in game; maybe the level of respect would lessen just a bit to talk in a bolder way we can consider as you to you.

I want to clarify that I'm not saying Leona is a bully towards a romantic male interest, just that he would probably have more fluid talks through a mutual understanding by sharing similar biological features if we put emotional and psychological sides apart, Reiterating it wouldn't be too far from his canon interactions with the original cast. Regarding my personal opinion (as well as this post is) I don't see Leona as someone who uses petnames with his romantic interest, at least not early into the relationship (established or not)

I know, there are many who have seen him or portray him as someone who would use nicknames as "my love", "darling", etc, and I don't invalidate any of them, though I can't really see them coming from someone who's stoic and serious most of the time. "Love melts even the coldest of hearts", yes, however it's complicated relating this through a romantic or platonic relationship with Leona, it's a bit complicated and takes some time.

As I mentioned before, he's a man with issues,problems which were born from deep insecurities and an inferior complex too huge to make them disappear all of a sudden just for love. It's a slow process, I'm not saying that he's going to be toxic once he gets into a relationship just that as many others the relationship would take more time and it's going to be complicated to finally establish it. The first phase of Leona being in love is denial, his main goal won't be focusing emotionally on a person, however, if he falls through this thought he would probably and mostly spend his time with said person; not being a man who would easily please someone with words, let's remember his brain tends to go under the logical side of things rather than emotional.

Even so, he's a man who's predominant love language (at least through this phase) is gift giving. Leona is a smart and sharp-eyed man, knowing at least a bit of the interest of the ones around him (Just look at Idia's second birthday card in which Leona gives him a chess set or how in more than on ocassion he gives Ruggie different things without him asking him to do so under their agreement of basic services; even when he gives a salad to Riddle or a pen to Vil, despite being unnecesary objects, and most of them being related to more of a silly/fun kind of interaction, they exist to let you know that he remembers those special days, he knows what to do, he is a man that sees and most importantly listens to his surroundings). Even if Leona's romantic interest doesn't mention they don't want anything Leona would read that somehow, he'll give it a meaning and provide surprise gifts through different kind of occasions for no apparent reason (money isn't a problem for him).

Moment of interlude, appreciate the kitten:

Ok ,let's continue. Once the relationships progresses, PDA will make it's entrance. Leona would be pretty clingy with his loved one, letting his own scent on them to let the others know that he was there first. Don't misunderstand nor mistake this as the kind of a response from a toxic or possessive person, he knows when to give space and how, even he needs it, but that doesn't mean he would let his lover go around without their clothes having the slightest of his scent on it.

He enjoys to take naps on his lover's lap, or even sleeping while embracing them. If we focus on a more natural-like related environment, lions tends to demonstrate their care to others by caressing each other's heads with their own, caressing their fur and also leaving some love bites; it wouldn't be much different here.

Personally I can see Leona giving love bites as a sign of affection; bites on the cheeks, shoulders, hands or neck (this without leading to a sexual side), leaning his head against his lover's one, or their shoulders if they're hugging, lazy little kisses around their face. I've read that when it comes to a girl, Leona would even ask for permission for a kiss, again related to the topic of consent and respect, to which I agree being someone who would ask for permission without words but actions, subtle, around two or three that would feel more than enough for him.

I don't see Leona jumping over or around someone to express his love through the first months into the relationship, he would be patient, testing the waters to see if this person isn't playing or making fun of him and his trust, something that has happened with other characters from the cast.

Please don't misunderstands my words, I've said before that he would ask for consent if his partner was a girl, but this works in case his romantic interest is a boy too, I just see him being more teasing with the last example.

Conclusion: Leona would never be categorized as a toxic man that would use his strength or status over someone he loves. Even if he ever could do so, the most possible scenario is an accidental one and he would make sure to apologize if he mistreated or make his partner uncomfortable. Leona isn't someone that would be afraid of apologizing when he knows he has done something wrong (we can see this during Tamashina Mina and how he apologizes to Jack by not thinking about how the hot weather would affect him since he wasn't from the same place as him). This also doesn't means that he would leave his pride aside, all he has is his own pride anyways, for good or wrong.

He's a responsible man, attentive, someone who wouldn't be the best at using cliche or romantic words at first; but everything will change with time and a slow development, overthrowing the bad times that he could experience as a partner while evolving into someone capable to keep a relationship of respect and lots of mutual and understanding love.

Personality:

Quinn is very quiet, introverted and non-confrontational most of the time and generally doesn't talk to people unless it's people she likes about something she likes. She seems calm and a bit distant most of the time, but honestly, she just files away/suppresses most negative emotions whenever she's around other people. She dislikes the majority of the twst cast, but looking at her, you couldn't tell.

Since coming to twst, she's seemingly been running on autopilot. Though she tries to be polite and kind, she actually has quite a short temper, but her anger rarely shows around others, though some people do notice and can feel it oozing out of every pore. In general she struggles with very intense emotions and thoughts of violence, but she usually just brushes it off, though rarely when she's alone she'll act out on it (During book 3 she smashed a few mugs and almost threw one at Grim bc she was really really fucking pissed about the situation). She's a pot threatening to boil over atp.

Quinn is a bit naive and not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, but she is a good liar and has found ways to manipulate situations to make her life easier, even if that means shifting the blame for something onto someone else.

She's a kind person, though being stuck in twst makes her feel the opposite, and her low self-esteem and myraid of health issues make her think she's not very useful or worth keeping around, though her creativity and her habit of overthinking things makes her good to have around if you want to prepare in advance for emergencies, and whenever she is put in charge of something she's surprisingly good at it.

Appearance:

Quinn is short and pudgy with dirty blonde hair dyed ginger and styled in a wolf-cut. She has grey-blue eyes (that sometimes look green) and pale-ish skin. Her face is dotted with freckles, and she has pretty prominent eyebags. She is always wearing a small silver heart shaped locket she got as a gift from her friend and she also occasionally wears a pair of cat earings.She can often be seen wearing jeans and coats with tons of pockets during the colder seasons and flowery dresses in the warmer ones. Most clothes are too big for her.

Important Things To Know:

☆At some point in the story Quinn stole one of Rook's bows and several of his arrows and though she can't handle it super well since she's a lefty using a right-handed bow, she did it well enough to threaten Ace with it once

☆Quinn got sick on her first night in Ramshackle, and after that, she's been mostly unwell and not doing so hot, especially since she has no access to any of her medicine. Each overblot seems to make it worse.

Her mom was very emotionally and sometimes physically abusive and outside of her friends things were pretty miserable and Quinn was almost always exhausted from taking care of most of the duties her mom was either too sick or too lazy to do and basically running the household with her sister. Things were made even more difficult by her family being extremely religious (her grandfather was even a pastor) while she was a queer atheist, and had to hide most of her interests and keep her appearance "acceptable" even if she didn't like it. A huge fight with her mother resulted in her being locked out of the house in the rain as a punishment, and she decided to grab the keys and just leave. It was while she was trekking to her friend's house that she came across the black carriage and woke up at NRC, where she was then burned and scratched during her first encounter with Grim. She's just trying her best to survive at NRC even if she does feel scared and lonely.

They didn't know if they were speaking or not. Couldn't tell. All they could hear was silence. And it was so, so loud.

"Remember me,"

Scenes began to appear. Memories they made sure to remember ever since they appeared in this new world. Their family, their friends, their home. They had tried so hard to keep hope. To believe they'd make it back. Yet, it was useless.

"Though I have to say goodbye"

Overblots. They hated them. They had to play therapist for everyone, the students, their friends. They got hurt and ridiculed, and yet everyone expects them to forgive and forget. To pretend nothing ever happened.

"Remember me"

They were a tool, that was all. Crowley could care less, and none of the adults did anything. Somebody, a child, stuck in a new world alone, and all they do is throw them at their problems. They expected Yuu to fix it all.

"Don't let it make you cry"

They didn't remember what made them snap. They were alone, they always were, and suddenly everything was dark. A never-ending abyss of darkness and hatred.

"For even if I'm far away, I hold you in my heart"

... They loved their new friends. They did. It's just.. they were tired. So very tired. Tired of fixing everyone else's problems while no one cares for theirs. Only to be blamed when things go wrong.

"I sing a secret song to you each night we are apart"

Riddle, Leona, Jamil, Vil, Idia, Malleus. Even outside the school, they couldn't rest. As if the world wanted them to solve its issues. It wasn't their fault. Everyone here needed therapy. Even the 'hero' schools headmage seemed toxic.

"Remember me,"

They could hear something. Muffled as it was. It was almost like everything was underwater. Briefly, they wondered if the others were calling for them. That maybe, just maybe, they'd wake and would get over this little bout of sadness, anger, and whatever they were feeling. They couldn't tell really. Numbness settling in their very bones.

"Though I have to travel far"

Another scene appeared. This time of a memory in Twisted Wonderland.. oh. It was Grim. The very same cat they'd come to love.. despite denying it, the cat-or whatever he was, cared. Truly, he did. Maybe that was why it hurt so much when he'd been taken away. Why they were angry at Idia the longest, compared to the others at least.

"Remember me each time you hear a sad guitar"

Nobody saw Yuu when they cried. When they were forced to stop ignoring the fact they may never return home, they were stuck in a strange world, and it might be forever. They remembered those moments. Yet they remembered when Grim would be there as well. Climbing on top of them, purring like it would shake the bad thoughts away. Other times, he'd simply rattle on about how he'd be the greatest someday, how they'd be right their with him.. whether it was in Twisted Wonderland or not.

"Know that I'm with you the only way that I can be"

They heard the noise more clearly now. Their name, though still muffled, being shouted. They didn't want to hurt anyone. Not truly. The feeling of heaviness slowly dispersed, darkness receded ever so carefully. They had so many memories, good and bad, yet they didn't want to give up. Didn't want to lose the small chance that one day. One day, they'd come home. Grim by their side as they meet their loved ones once again.

"Until you're in my arms again"

The courtyard of Ramshackle was a mess of overgrown weeds and dead tree branches. The house itself seemingly surrounded in shadows that slowly dispersed. Everyone, even the teachers, panting and coughing on the ground. Almost as if they had been choking. Yet, Yuu didn't care. They were exhausted, and all they could see was Grim. The very same cat that had anchored them to reality. Running towards them, untouched, without a scratch. They could almost remember a hazy memory, one of shadows curling around Grim in a soft hug, keeping him in place. Collapsing to their knees, they hugged Grim as he ran into their arms. They wouldn't give up, not yet. That was a promise they intended to keep.

Happy Holidays! I’ve been on a bit of an angst fix lately, so if you don’t mind, I’m going to brainrot in your inbox about it.

I’ve been thinking about a scenario where Yuu just finally snaps. I mean, an entire school year of being trapped in a foreign world with no certain hope of seeing your family again, being forced to contend with (at least) 7 life-or-death scenarios, the massive egos these teenage boys have, and probably at least a little bullying from the NRC students for being magicless. I mean come on, I love our boys and all, but a lot of them are kind of awful people. There’s no way a regular person’s mental health survives that.

And maybe Yuu, tired of it all, packs up what little they have and leaves. Surely their prospects couldn’t get any worse than at NRC. Maybe Yuu tries their luck at RSA in finding someone to help them go home. Maybe Yuu just wanders until they find somewhere where they can be something. Would they even leave a letter behind explaining what happened to them, or would they just assume no one would care anyway?

I just want some more Yuu angst lol

I want to start off by saying that, in my personal opinion based off of the in game voicelines and vignettes, that the various NRC boys do like Yuu and enjoy having them around. They think of them as the same of any other freshmen student at NRC, which is sort of the problem.

The average NRC freshmen has magic, a dormitory with a housewarden responsible for "guiding" them, and a family they can fall back on if things get rough. The average student has a basic understanding of the history of the world they live in, of it's pop culture, it's food, it's clothes, and a bunch of other things that they might not think about because of how ingrained it is in their very being. Yuu has none of those things. They don't even have a cannon club which I think is more meant to allow players to have head cannons, but since we are talking angst I have wondered if since Yuu and Grim are one student, any club Yuu wanted to join would have to take Grim as well and no one wanted to deal with that. So Grim started his own "club" and Yuu just takes pictures of birthday celebrations and events they aren't able to fully participate in for the school at Crowley's request.

Ace's first reaction to Yuu is to bully them for not having magic. Deuce admits to having done the same thing as when he was a child, and is very embarrassed by it. We don't really see Yuu getting outright bullied outside of this, but given how the faceless students reacted to Deuce being excited for Starsending, yeah I think Yuu has had to deal with some bullying. And while I do think Adeuce (and the rest of Heartslabyul really) would stick up for them, it wouldn't make it stop. If anything it just gets sneakier and Yuu, not wanting to cause any problems, does their best to cover it up. Something about keeping a stiff upper lip or a smile better suiting a hero and all that.

The overblots is a whole separate issue. We get two real apologies, one from Riddle and one from Vil, who again do not take Yuu being magicless in to much thought. They think of Yuu highly! They are a housewarden of their own little dorm! And they take such good care of Grim and the others, not to mention all those overblots you survived! Not many mages can claim that but you can! What could you possibly have to be stressed about?

As if that isn't the entire problem. As if anyone understands where Yuu is coming from. As if they even would care if they did.

They might be just as capable as any other freshmen, but when school ends, hell even when it goes on a break, they have no where to go. They were stripped from their friends, family, and especially their belongings, including money and autonomy! I have some thoughts about my own Yuu wanting to be nurse in her world, but given how much of even basic medical care seems to rely on magic in Twisted Wonderland I wonder if that would even be a career path any magicless person could take. We know a lot of them work at Styx because they don't risk blot accumulation, but even cooking is done with magic (if it can be) in Twisted Wonderland! How would you feel if you had your heart set on being a doctor, worked really hard to get good grades and took up a part time job to save for college/university only to be transported to a different world with different laws of physics completely against your will. A world where all that hard work is meaningless and you might not be able to accomplish those dreams of yours. And! AND AND! If you get upset about it, that will be seen as a weakness on your part and no one will care.

Because hey, they had to work for what they have. Why can't you? They didn't ask to be born with magic (even though they would have probably) so there is no use crying about things you can't change. Ruggie and Jamil do seem to feel a bit of sympathy to Yuu's plight, but neither of them think twice about exploiting Yuu for their own gain. Sure it might be unfair, but life is in general! It's not their fault, they aren't to blame. And that's really how all of NRC sees it, they aren't to blame for Yuu's circumstances, so they aren't owed any special treatment.

How Yuu snaps and what they do because of it would really come down to how you hc your Yuu to be. My own personal thoughts come back to personal autonomy a lot; I don't think Yuu has much of it and that would grate on me constantly. I could see Yuu hearing their friends talk about their plans for the future, and though Ace and especially Deuce try to include them in the conversation they can't add much. Ace applauds them, says "we need to take things easy! We're still freshmen..." and drones on about how he just wants to enjoy school life. And maybe Yuu does too, but they have no concrete answer about whether or not they can get home. They don't have the support system that their classmates do, so there really isn't anything waiting for them after the school year ends. Yuu feels so helpless, and they don't have the words to explain how they feel, because how could they?

If Malleus's overblot ends without any real repercussions (which I doubt it will but hey, I am like 65/35 on whether or not he apologizes to Yuu specifically for almost killing them I will be so pissed if he doesn't) I could see everyone else making fun of Malleus for loosing while Yuu just. Stares off into the distance, trying really hard not to cry in front of people they are convinced will make fun of them. This has all been scary, things like this just aren't possible in their world and they aren't mentally prepared to face death again.

And they are convinced they will. You can say overblots are rare all you like, but Yuu has practically seen one once a month ever since they arrived in this world. It is normal to them, and who should they trust? The lying headmaster or their lying eyes and ears?

If Yuu decides to run away, I think that the Ramshackle ghosts might try to stop them. Sure the headmaster sucks, but your ghost buddies really love you! And want to support you in anyway they can, so does Grim! He wants to be together for the next 100 years, and while he does really want to stay at NRC so he can be the world's greatest mage... I think he might love Yuu more. Just a tiny bit. He would play it off as him being too good for the school, or that he and Yuu are only one student after all so he will be expelled... but really he wants to come with because he will be worried about Yuu.

While going to RSA does sound nice on paper, Yuu doesn't really have a reason to go there. They aren't exactly on first name basis with any of the students we've met so far, and there is always the risk of Che'nya snitching to Riddle and Trey. Better to try and find a place where they can be something and maybe send letters to all the magical academies they can get contact information for to see if they can help. And also, to see if they will accept Grim as a full student, got to make sure he isn't sacrificing his dream for nothing!

The ghosts, realizing they can't convince Yuu not to leave decide to help. They already sell things at the markets downtown, so maybe they chat with some of their clients and convince them to let Yuu rent a room for a while. You have the option in Portfest to mention you have been to Craneport before, and I like the thought of Yuu having a part time job there. Maybe the ghosts explain that Yuu has no real family to go back to and Yuu's part time employer agrees to give them a full time job while Yuu figures out where they want to go.

Another thing related to personal autonomy, Yuu wouldn't have government documents if they just got isekaid out of the blue. I could see that being a huge issue for traveling to different countries and trying to establish a life. I also wonder if Crowley even did anything about that... but assuming he did since he (allegedly) talked to the school board about what to do with Yuu I think the ghosts would get them for Yuu on the condition they still come visit sometimes.

As for the note, I think Yuu would leave one simply because they feel like they didn't have the words to explain themselves out loud. And because they don't want to face the fight they know will come where everyone tells them to just suck it up and get on with it. These are teenage boys they are dealing with, their brains just can't fully comprehend the situation Yuu is in and they have given up expecting them to.

Just so we're clear, I think this would devastate Ace and Deuce, maybe to the point of destroying their friendship, at least for a while. Ace does think about Yuu not having magic, he wants to protect them. He says so when you level him to max, that protecting you will be easy, but clearly it wasn't. Clearly he failed you, and what does Ace do when he feels bad? He takes it out on everyone else and in this case especially Deuce. Deuce just feels stupid, which he already does a lot, but he really saw you as being around for the rest of his life. And now you aren't, and not for a happy reason like you got to go home. You aren't there because they failed you.

The others are a bit of a mixed bag I could do a separate post about but to hit the other big one...

I have no real idea how Malleus would react. I can see him thinking this means Yuu is afraid of him now, which I don't think he would react well to, but assuming this is post ob then he might be willing to take responsibility for it. It would certainly make him think, but how that thought would manifest? Outside of the obvious weather changes I do not know. I could see him being slightly resentful to his mother for cursing him to be hated by humans and loved only by fae when he so desperately wanted to be loved by one specific human. They were his first real friend, and he didn't treasure them in a way they found meaningful.

idk Yuu dropping off the grid isn't something I can see Crowley letting happen, but I can see why Yuu would want to try.

You mentioned in one post that you think one problem with the game is that it twists itself into pretzels to fit the various different narratives, even when it doesn't make sense for the characters. Can you talk more about that? (Because I totally agree.)

Very much so! It's really bothersome. The first thing is in the individual chapters they tend to act like the students don't know each other well outside their own dorms, almost like they're practical strangers who have never interacted before. When everything else points to the opposite. Take Chapter 5 for example. They try to act like Ace and Deuce have no idea who Epel is, yet in Ace's CR story, he clearly meets Epel during their sorting. Never mind how they behave during events. And in chapter 2 when Cater is with Yuu and the others scoping out possible targets, it's presented like he doesn't know most of them well, when he clearly knows *everyone*.

Then from there, it's how the characters act in their individual chapters. Chapter 1 is mostly okay in this regard. Events with Riddle happen quickly enough that him having a major change of heart and acting "normal" in material from then on isn't too jarring.

But moving on from there it's a trainwreck. The chapter's overblot victims/ antagonists can get a little bit of a pass, but even then it stretches things.

Like Ruggie for instance, he is very shrewd and isn't above taking advantage of a situation. But he's not evil, he very clearly cares a lot about his home, his grandmother, and the other kids who live in the area with him. The idea that the character we see in every other situation would cause serious harm to someone else over a game is kind of ludicrous. He could have very easily risked expulsion if things had gone too far, and then he wouldn't be in a position to help *anyone*. Leona is even kind of iffy to me. While Leona tends to go out of his way to appear uncaring/unmotivated/lazy, he's actually an incredibly good dorm leader who cares about his students. Most of his real issues are internal, and harming innocent people who aren't even part of his beef with Malleus just seems out of character to me. Never mind what he does to Ruggie. Some of it can be explained by the build up of blot but not all of it.

And then Chapter 3, Azul, Jade, and Floyd. For the most part, I can see the tweels going along with everything because they both thrive on chaos. But Azul's plan is just...stupid coming from someone who's a professional businessman. First off he has no shortage of workers for the lounge. Ruggie frequently takes shifts there, and Cater while not a waiter also does a lot of work with them. But the whole sea anemone thing was just gross. And apparently, there was nothing in the contract about not disparaging their employer. It might have caused a spike in business at first just because people want to see what's going on for themselves, but overall, he'd ultimately hurt his business and drive customers *away*. Never mind the whole bullying backstory comes out of NOWHERE. Like I do have sympathy for Azul and what he went through and he is one of my favorite characters, but Ch 3 suffered from poor writing in my opinion. Narratively the whole thing was a mess.

Chapter 4 is handled better in my opinion. For the most part, I have the least amount of complaints about what goes on here. My biggest one though is what I mentioned before, Characters tend to exist in a bubble during their chapter events. You can not tell me that Cater nor Lilia wouldn't have tried to figure out what the hell was going on with Kalim. Or Silver for that matter. Never mind how Kalim had the authority to keep his entire dorm at school over a holiday when it's shut down?!!? I get his family is rich and powerful but, that still seems like a stretch idk.

Jamil I think was a least handled well otherwise, his actions and motivations seemed consistent with his character. In the end, he didn't really want to harm anyone, he just wanted his freedom and was desperate. The only real question is what did he think was going to happen next? Even if Kalim got kicked out of NRC then he would have only had about a year and a half of 'freedom' it wouldn't have solved any of his problems. And if Kalim had turned up dead, there would have still been severe repercussions for him and his family. IDK for someone who is supposed to be good at planning and scheming there definitely were parts that weren't well thought-out.

Chapter 5 and Rook is where this conversation started I think but I'll touch on it again. His actions at the end of chapter 5 are COMPLETELY out of character for what we know about him otherwise. Hiding his obsession with Neige from Vil, and then revealing it IN FRONT OF him while he's still licking his wounds from his overblot is just...if this was the only context we had for Rook, no one would be calling them friends. He had no real reason to reveal he was the one that cost them the competition.

The reception to this was so bad that's why we have the start of chapter 6 where Vil gives his speech about professionalism and why he's okay with Rook and what he did. I don't believe the narrative that Vil wasn't hurt at all, not with how he's shown to be so insecure especially where Neige is concerned. Sure I might buy the part about Rook voting for NRC not hurting him, but not the rest of it.

Never mind otherwise Rook isn't cruel. Especially not to Vil, and his actions were just that.

This is also biased, but the fact that Cater was cut from the team, and the reasons why rub me the wrong way. I know that they just wanted Jamil and Kalim because they were the previous chapter's focal point and Ace and Deuce because they're tied to pretty much everything because of Yuu and the story. But Vil keeps talking about being a professional, admitted straight up that Cater's audition was *perfect* but brushed him off and passed him over anyway. (Also Ironic because Cater's VA actually is a musician/singer/ensemble group member and not a traditional VA) but that's off course of the question lol

Also, I will never not be salty that RSA won with their song/performance. All for the narrative. And THEN they gave us a shot at seeing some kind of revenge or at least a win over them after the VDC with Epel's hometown event and yet again WE STILL LOST. I don't understand that one either. It's just frustrating for the players to be put in that situation again needlessly. There was no real narrative/story reason we had to lose.

Chapter 6 we finally get away from the narrative that the characters can't know who each other are in the main story at least -_-;. overall I don't have too many issues with Chapter 6. (other than the mini games -_-) Idia's character is kept consistent. We get some fun moments from the cast, and for the most part its in line with what we know of them and their characters. Azul and Riddle are gold, Jamil needed to hear what Leona told them. (tho it was a little pot kettle but then again that meant that Leona knew what he was talking about). And over all things don't seem AS forced. Had hoped things were gonna get better.

Then Chapter 7 rolled around and they murdered Lilia's character. The character we knew would NEVER treat his family like that. He even gives Malleus a speech in Cater's Halloween SSR about how he'll always be there when he needs him. He's consistently been shown to value his family and connections. It was just such a drastic change I am still baffled. I understand why he would be leaving, but to not really talk to those around him or explain what's going on and make an effort to keep in touch and stay in their lives? It's absurd. Of course Silver and Malleus broke down, if in high school my dad basically told me he was dying and that he was going far away and I'd never see him again, I'd have lost it too, and I'm not nearly as close to my dad as they were to Lilia.

I know they needed something to trigger Malleus's overblot but again this just seems like poor writing to me. The idea of Lilia loosing his powers and possibly dying I think would have been enough if they'd framed it right to push Malleus over the edge. That's difficult /emotional enough and they wouldn't have had to completely destroy Lilia's characterization to make it work. They could have even had the scene with Silver and Malleus when SIlver breaks down crying in front of him after trying to stay strong in front of Lilia so as not to worry him.

I'm trying to reserve too much judgment until we see the entirety of chapter 7 but unless there is some unknown reason for Lilia to have chosen this method of leaving, I don't know how to really justify it.

I get sometimes characters have to make difficult choices it is what helps make a story interesting, but if those choices arise from conflict that's not framed well or meaningful, it loses its potency. It comes across like us as the players and the characters themselves being cheated.

BOOKS & FINALE THEORY OR SMTHG Part 1?

i would like to propose a thought (this might be stupid i don't care) there is going to be a lot of yapping for a lowkey dumb point but i think it's interesting enough. I feel like I could make a video on this.

For the book 7 "finale" i think the students will "overblot" again WAIT LISTEN HOLD IT! a heads up here that I'm not on the JP server and don't have as good a grasp on the story thus far but I have some evidence (just a little)

If not every student then at least Idia, one thing I have against book 6 even tho i love it so much is that Vil took up a lot of time during the story and there are a few reasons for that.

1. it was a finale to his plot points. While book 5 was about him there was a good amount of focus on different characters and he still didn't "defeat" Neige or get a win, he was talked to and understood by his friends and the players being used instead as set up to his own finale in the next book. I don't love when games use other characters for the sake of another one (Yanqing from HSR is a good example) but it makes SOME sense.

2. the formula - every previous overblotter helps in the next book. This is a basic setup continually used they just increased it with Vil turning it up to the max. Vil and Idia are slightly different because their problems r actually a bit similar. Vil wants to be a "hero" where Idia gave up that hope a long time ago. (other characters can also relate to this theme in different ways and i might make another post later)

3. fulfillment - Idia's issues would never be resolved in his own book. There was too much to do, and too many problems. It feels like they backed themselves into a corner and while they gave Ortho a very good resolution and a finale for their relationship and good perspective there would still be a bit of a hole and so again they took Vil and just amped his finale up. Again they have done things like this in others books it was just especially obvious in 6.

4. ambiance - they wanted to keep the Shrouds dark and mysterious. This worked in some fun ways that were intriguing but again they just weren't physically around much.

Its one of my biggest pet peeves and I probably could write for hours abt it (look for future posts) but imma move onto my main points cuz this is really long.

Idia better get a good damn finale. There, I said it. I was nervous for this book because i knew going in they would probably try to cram a bunch into it. with it (possibly) being the last (or second to last) book they have worked to incorporate every character (which has been so much fun I am NOT complaining) and try to focus heavily on Diasomnia because it's still THEIR book. I was worried Idia would become pushed to the side. I was pleasantly surprised with all the Shroud stuff we've gotten and cried really hard during Idia's dream chapters but the whole thing ended very sad and melancholic aka not in a "finalized" way. He talked about how useless he felt and how Ortho was always the one to save him etc. Ortho comforts him and its a sweet moment but there is no way that's how they end that. Idia has done nothing in the plot and honestly it gives him a new level to his motivation.

There is no way he can beat Malleus' ass. I expect everyone to use the power of friendship and then Idia talks to him about grief and loss because the issues they both deal with can be very intertwined and used in a good way that helps both of them deal with the inherent fact that people die which they both have a hard time with. Its basically the reason they both overblot.

I would say this if that was easy. They would have to defeat him and then do that cuz that scene doesn't work if he's overblotted. they mention how difficult it is to talk someone down from an overblot so unless Malleus and Idia are secretly in love that aint happening.

Either Idia or 'the gang' will overblot again to beat him down. Everyone else uses their signature spell in the next book but Idia's spell is shit and unless he kills everyone (see timeloop theory ig) or uses it as a scare tactic i don't see that happening. Honestly if they replaced his current UM with his blot form that would make some sense and also work better and is why I initially wrote all this.

There is always a level of physical confrontation that Idia...doesn't have in him. no offense nerd. If they all overblotted to fight it would make them all way stronger and they outright say it plenty of times. From what I can tell there have already been overblot moments in the individual dreams which could be foreshadowing and THEN it would be the perfect opportunity to release them as cards. I've been seeing plenty of people talking about how they want the overblots as cards (myself included) and instead of releasing them after each book it would make sense if they were released instead after some massive fight.

This was so long i have been tweaking out and might be working on a video essay type thing. I also might split this into 2 parts later. For the time being check me out on Ao3. Hello, first time requesting anything and I hope I do this right. I like what you've posted previously and I hope you enjoy this request idea.

I saw screenshots of a post recently about a TWST x Tinkerbell/Pirate Fairy event where shenanigans happens and everyone's UM's are switch around.

But what if Yuu got someone else's UM? Would they go power mad? OB by accident because they couldn't control the amount of magic? Just chill until the fairies corrected the switch? How would the owner of the UM deal with Yuu handling their power feel? And how would they feel about being magicless for the time being?

Suggested students are Grim, Azul, Jamil, Vil and Deuce, or anyone else you would prefer, all of them are fun options.

I also added Malleus because he is the only one in Diasmonia with a confirmed/offical UM.

For context there will be a Mage like Zarina who was obviously an outcast and who was very innovative and wanted to discover new things (Such as the Fairy Dust) The way I imagine it the mage probably wanted to do things that were considered "Illegal" for Mage magic the NRC students ran into this person and they used their UM to switch the powers of students.

(Character's relationships can be read as platonic or romantic)

Deuce (Bet the Limit)

He is not worried. Although he'd be more concerned about Yuu accidentally using it mid class and hurting someone. His UM is mainly dependent on others attacks so I don't think there would be an issue about hurting someone deeply to the point of hospitalization.

He is worried about the fact he can't use magic anymore. He used his flaunt his magic a lot in middle school now he's not no power (Karma really came back for him didn't it)

If Yuu casually happens to get his ability to summon cauldrons it would be hilarious if Yuu dropped a cauldron "Accidentally" On Ace or Crowley's head. He'd feel bad, but It'd be funny.

He'd eventually adapt to losing his magic, but he does want to try and get it fixed.

He will help Yuu as much as he can with controlling his magic. If they have any questions he will gladly answer them and help to the best of his ability.

Yuu is least likely to go power mad due to Deuce's UM being low on the list for Powers that will make Yuu go bat-shit insane and commit world domination. (Yes I have an actual list)

When Yuu Overblots

He would probably cry like genuinely.

Yuu has gone through enough in TWST and when they finally snap he would be extremely worried for Yuu because he is scared they will get hurt badly/hurt others badly.

Deuce's UM is actually scary so when it comes to overblotting Yuu could hurt A LOT of people.

Riddle's UM won't be able to help and Yuu could just basically absorb every attack that hits them.

Yuu could probably kill someone with his power and that is a really scary though to think about.

(Deuce can too since it is quite his power)

On a skill level there is a possibility Yuu could lose control of the magic, on a power level they could injure a lot of people. Either way Yuu and other people will be getting hurt.

If they somehow stop Yuu's overblot GET THEM THERAPY INSTANTLY make Leona or someone else rich pay for it.

Deuce would look like a sad puppy because he just witnessed his friend he deeply cares about just snap. Probably wouldn't leave Yuu's side while they recover.

He probably feels the most guilty as he couldn't do anything and wished he could have helped more.

If Yuu DOES kill someone um mage jail? or how would that work since they aren't from TWST would they like be in custody in their own world???? because quite literally they have no information on Yuu to send them to Mage Jail.

Considering his backstory and why he is becoming a Mage he would definitely freak out over not having his powers. Bro needs his octopot.

When he learns it was Yuu who got his powers he would feel a bit more relieved

Jade and Floyd are laughing their asses off when he tries to teach you how magic works. They are not going to do anything to help AT ALL.

Azul does NOT feel happy about being powerless at ALL. He has a business to keep running and Yuu is struggling.

I can imagine Yuu accidentally making a contract and stealing someone else's power and then having to keep THAT ONE under control.

Overall I feel like Azul makes top 5 of "Yuu will have a panic attack from being unable to control this power"

Azul would probably adjust to the change but he would not be happy with it at all.

There is a possibility Yuu could go power mad, but Azul is based on capitalism Yuu is not. They would probably only go power mad as a way for threatening/bargaining to go home.

When Yuu Overblots

Pray Yuu has the power under control

Azul's Overblot 2.0 except no tentacles

Azul tries to help the best he can and then gets blasted with magic right in the face. (L bozo)

When Yuu just snaps Azul wishes he could of down more, but he realizes he only was helping Yuu for himself. Not for them. They had to deal a lot and he probably was the one that broke the camels back for them to overblot.

On a skill level and Power level it would probably be the same as Azul's however Yuu has less control over the power.

Yuu is getting back for when he overblotted. /hj

When Yuu unoverblots Azul gives them an apology and also starts the process for them to see a therapist. Probably get's an earful from Deuce and Ace about pushing Yuu over the edge.

Jade (Shock The Heart)

Is not worried.

He doesn't need magic to intimidate people although he needs magic to obtain information.

"Oya? it appears the prefect has my power."

You know how Azul and Deuce would help? He wouldn't

When it comes to Jade's power it can easily be exploited to gain all kinds of information from someone and in the wrong hand's world domination can be caused.

Yuu gets help anyway from Tweedle Dee and Dum over at Heartslabyul.

Yuu would accidentally use Jade's power on people and would probably gain information they wouldn't want to know and probably has gotten traumatized.

Begs Jade to take his power back and he just giggles at Yuu. He is fine with not using Magic, but it is funny to see Yuu attempt to use his magic.

He's enjoying you struggle. However if it gets to a certain point he may help keyword may.

When Yuu overblots

No one is worried lmao.

I mean overblotting is bad, but Jade's power is like so??? normal?? that an overblot would be dangerous, but his conditions are it can only be used once so if Yuu acivates it they probably wouldn't be able to use it again.

Either way he helps Yuu with gaining control because Yuu almost made Ace choke on his food from accidentally using the UM. And almost made Jack run into a tree (It was funny actually)

We all know how Jamil's overblot turned out someone call up the Octotrio to deal with this again.

When Yuu snaps it would be dreadful tbh and I don't think people would make it out of this OB with Yuu unless they physically got hurt to the point of unconsciousness, or Malleus was like "No don't overblot you're too sexy aha".

Vil (Fairest One of All)

Instant panic

Vil's UM is so powerful that when a curse is placed with conditions it cannot be lifted even with Vil's interference unless the conditions are met.

Imagine Yuu with that power. Crowley suddenly has a way for Yuu to get home.

Vil would be more concerned with his potato having a power they CANNOT control. Yuu will be accidentally placing curses on people.

Ace would suddenly get paralyzed from the neck down and Yuu didn't know how they did it.

Yuu accidentally paralyzing people is crazy.

Vil helps Yuu try to gain control of the power but has a really hard time.

This is another one where if Yuu were to overblot it would be because they accidentally use the UM too much and are stressed because of it.

Vil doesn't mind being magicless however do NOT let his father figure that out he might force Vil out of NRC into modeling.

When Yuu overblots

Uncontrolled curse magic with a stressed-out overblotting Yuu. Yeah this is up there with Bet the limit and Snake Whisperer.

Vil almost killed Neige for gods sake imagine what YUU COULD DO.

Vil tried to curse Yuu mid overblot but forgot he couldn't use magic.

Vil is actively sending Rook after the mage who switched powers. Vil wants his potato back.

If Yuu manages to snap out of an OB Vil is also the one making sure Yuu gets treatment. He will also pay for their therapy and treatments.

Every time I say Yuu is terrifying with a certain OB It gets worse. (I should make a list tbh)

Idia is freaking the hell out. Probably has a panic attack but we aren't there yet.

Idia's UM literally control the gates to the underworld and basically keeps the blot monsters in and if Yuu accidentally opens that.

I pray for everyone's safety.

Idia has probably headed a warning about this and is actively hunting down the mage. Ortho is helping too.

This is one of those where I say Yuu should not have it because with one wrong move and hundreds if not thousands of people could get hurt.

Idia is panicking Yuu is panicking Ortho is trying to calm them down.

Yuu most likely overblots because Idia is freaking them out, and they don't want to open the gates to hell.

I wonder if one of his parents could also open and close the gate with their magic that will literally help.

When Yuu overblots

Run everyone the gates of hell opened again.

If I had a nickel for every time someone overblotted and opened the gates of hell I'd have two nickels. It's not a lot of nickels, but it is weird that it happened twice.

Idia is making sure the literal gates of hell did NOT open, and surely enough they did.

Crowley is probably getting sued

In Theory the battle could be easy however when it comes to the UM someone tell Yuu to close the gates.

Blot monster domination 2.0

Ortho manages to hunt the mage down, but only until after the overblot is over and the gates have opened.

Idia completely forgot about Yuu's condition so when they switched powers he was more focused on closing the gate. He got grilled for that by Ace and Deuce who carried Yuu to the nurses.

I feel like this one is scary but more in the sense that Yuu has the power to the hell world.

Malleus (Fae of Maleficence)

Do I even need to say how bad this would be?

I know damn well most of Diasmonia is tweaking that Waka Sama just lost his power.

When Malleus learns it's Yuu he's more worried about them being stressed out over this and tries to help them the best way he could and even gets Lilia in on it.

Malleus is one of the top 5 mages in the world Yuu is probably one panic attack away from overblotting and putting everyone's ass to sleep.

Malleus is also concerned about the possibility of an overblot so he is definitely trying to keep them from overblotting. Whatever his child of man needs he will snap his fingers and it's done.

Yuu wants a massage? Malleus will arrange that. Yuu needs food he will buy Yuu some. Yuu wants ice cream? He wants some too. Yuu wants a fucking break? He will threaten Crowley for one.

He understands the power that was given to Yuu is a lot handle and will accommodate his Child of man (They are getting married after this)

He is also sending Silver and Sebek after the mage and the mage may or may not be existing after he finds her.

When Yuu overblots

As of 2/26/24 not all of Diasmonia has been updated/finished so I have no information as to how it will end/ how his overblot will go. But let's just imagine it.

Malleus fell into a dream world where he got to be happy with his Child of Man. He is King, he has children, and he's with his Child of Man happily. :SOBBING:

When he get pulled out from the dream he's like why :( probably all pouty since it was a good dream. And then remembers Yuu overblotted and is like no my child of man.

He is the first one to instantly get Yuu help bro can't teleport, but he can run and if he can still turn into a dragon he can fly.

He apologizes to Yuu even though he did all he could he still feel like he could have done more. He gets Yuu all of the treatments they need instantly and when the mage switches back their powers she is deader than his Mom.

Back to our regularly scheduled Alice-asking with Anon McGee.

After playing the game for a few hours and getting through some stuff, I have some thoughts. None in particular for any sort of request [although, at the time of writing this specific part, I am unsure of if I'll tack one onto the beginning of this ask [I did not]. I am also unsure of if it will be related at all], but they're still interesting and maybe can be used for this stuff going forward [for as long as I keep requesting such self indulgent things].

1. Teeth are a currency. Not a whole lot to do with that one, but it is incredibly strange to me even still.

2. Many of the enemies are made visibly of this black, ink-like ooze. Not all of them, but a good majority of them. I feel this means overblots may cause additional layers of stress because of the implications it might cause [something to do with the fact that this inky substance was what corrupted Alice's wonderland, it sounds like it COULD be taken as a physical representation of that same kind of corruption, and the overblotter going literally insane. Could be good oneshot fuel?]

3. Alice is actually SUPER chill in the environment of the wonderland aside from when it's actively trying to kill her [although the reaction does not necessarily have to apply to the reader character we've been using as a stressball for these scenarios, I think it's pretty interesting and likely means that the initial reaction to the students of Heartslaybyul would be void should I have known prior to this that wonderland was actually pretty alright and fine for the most part]

4. Another minor detail that doesn't really mean a lot, but in the Hatter's domain, there's flamingos all over the place. While I was exploring, I saw several just sort of Around. In cages, hung up on walls, some- upon entry- were on those like.. Spitroasters or whatever they are. Many were on wheels being forced to run to give power to some machinery. They all looked pretty... Not alive, though. Also, they were strangely dodo shaped, but that's neither here nor there.

That's all I have for the moment regarding that! Feel free to take it and run however you want, I can't think of any specific request I can give relating to any of these except for the overblot one

I need to take your mind and put it in a little glass jar filled with water to observe it (meant in a positive way). Maybe shake it around some to see what kinda scenarios pop out.

But the best I can come up with are some *. * ·imagines*. * · to keep your brain occupied for now

Imagine an MC who- in every single fight they get dragged into (which is an awful lot in the game lmao)- stays behind for a moment to collect some of the teeth punched out by spells and fists. The broken ones that are cracked aren't worth much, they say to their friends who ask what they're doing, but the whole teeth can buy you a lot of good things. Much to the horror of the Twisted Wonderland students, it's eventually realized that MC thinks that teeth are a currency here. They don't know why, but can only speculate that it's from the same issues from before... Riddle eventually ends up begging (or as close to begging as he can get-) for Azul to tell you about Twisted Wonderland's currency. Horrified yet intrigued by your grotesque idea of money, Azul teaches you about merfolk economics, as well as the thaumarks people use on land...of course, he's going to try and get you to explain the whole "teeth currency" thing to him, and what makes one tooth worth more than others.

The inky enemies would actually make for a KILLER oneshot, I might have to write something along the lines of it one day... Maybe Twisted Wonderland (or at least, the part that held the Queen of Hearts in it) and Alice's Wonderland are two sides of the same coin...? While they're both in different dimensions (maybe even parallel to one another!), they're both similar. The main difference was that Alice's Wonderland is isolated from the rest of the world, while "Twisted Wonderland" had different cultures and societies to expand with? The isolation caused some in Alice's Wonderland to "Overblot" (or, at least, some form of it) and become enemy bosses. So maybe Overblots are slightly different in each world, but they're still present!

Imagine an MC who (after having a few breakdowns at first regarding Heartslabyul) eventually calms down...to the point where everyone gets extremely worried about them. Riddle accidentally says "Off with your head!" to an unruly student within their earshot, but MC is so chill that they look...almost zoned out, their eyes glazed over. Like they're in a completely different world. As the overblots go on throughout their stay in Twisted Wonderland, MC's calm demeanor only gets worse. They don't seem to react hardly at all to- well, anything. It's like they've just accepted where they are and the danger they're in.

Mmm short and squat dodo-like flamingos. I like to think that our poor MC, after first seeing the flamingos in Heartslabyul, didn't actually see them, but saw their not-quite-alive bodies wandering around, some being roasted over a fire, others lurking ominously behind bushes, some in cages. All some form of injured or deadish. It would most definitely take a while until MC could see the creatures as they truly were (that is, alive and well, and most definitely not so creepy), but until then, they take it in stride. No one even knows how MC sees the flamingos until they offhandedly mention it one day, and Cater's just like "....no?? Why would we be roasting flamingos???"

When I get a chance I need to doodle more of my TWST OCs that are based on Mulan characters...or even just talk about them more on here... I've barely alluded to the fact Ren has three half-sisters that are discovered during his Overblot arc... I've barely mentioned Hé the dragon... You guys don't even know about Prince Lin Róng, or my nine-tailed fox OC who moonlights as the proprietor of a neurodivergent shop but may have a greater hidden agenda in the politics going on in the Land of the Red Dragon. I REALLY need to remedy that and babble about all these some more.

I mean that goes for all my TWST OCs, duh. But especially the Mulan-based ones. I've just been exceptionally nervous about sharing them in depth and detail because I want to be sure I'm doing my due diligence. No matter how much I love and want to never stop learning about and trying to respect Chinese culture and history, I am not Chinese. I HAVE to do my due diligence with these characters, and because I've loved and wanted to learn more since childhood about Chinese culture, the very least I can do is research and respect it to the best of my ability, and be open to correction and learning new things and adjusting what I do creatively as a result.

Make no mistake, it's because of Disney's Mulan that I became enamored with learning more about China and its cultures and history and peoples as a child. But even as a child I had issues with the movie. (Especially with the "Huns"; even at the age of 8 years old seeing it in the theater for the first time, the depiction of the "Huns" bothered me, and as an adult I can confidently say child me was right for being bothered.) So the least I can do is my best to make sure my OCs are respectful and show my love and interest in a place and a history and cultures and people that aren't mine. But I do need to swallow some of that anxiety and still be willing to share about my OCs in the first place. Otherwise, we go nowhere and I'm going to close the door on a lot of opportunities for myself. (To be a tiny bit fair, yeah, I've had a lot of shit going on and haven't had much energy to dedicate to actively being in fandom space in the ways I'd like to, but I also shouldn't hide behind that as an excuse.)

Story: Descend into Magic (Disney TWST AU)

TW: talk of pushing someone to the mental edge (and technically over) but with like. The absolute best of intentions, as the quickest path to healing.

"Lilia," Kyomi says, and then stops. How. Does he explain this.

"Kyomi?" Lilia walks over, clearly confused but seemingly willing to listen.

"Could you... follow me for a second? To somewhere a little more private?" That's a good start, Kyomi thinks. What he has to say... probably shouldn't be overheard by anyone else. Except maybe Sunshine. Sunshine has always trusted him and his judgement.

"Of course." Lilia smiles and nods, but Kyomi can see the surprise and confusion in his eyes. Then Kyomi turns and starts walking, until he reaches a quiet part of the rose maze that's out of earshot from the rest.

There, he opens his mouth and closes it again. He should have thought this through a little more.

"Well, if you are planning on confessing to me," Lilia starts, "I have to say I am extremely flattered, but-"

"Oh, no, no way." Kyomi laughs, shaking his head. "That's not what I need to speak to you about. It's about Leona."

Lilia grins at him, sitting down on the ground. "Well? Spill it."

"It's. I think it might be best if I start with a little context." Kyomi swallows, and Lilia nods encouragingly. "A while ago, Riddle overblotted."

"Yes, I heard about that. Awful business." Lilia taps his pen, and Kyomi sighs.

"The thing is, in the days leading up to it, his... his scent changed." Lilia opens his mouth, but Kyomi pushes on without giving him a chance to speak. "It slowly got more sour, with spikes whenever he was particularly stressed. And then, when he overblotted, it was the strongest."

"His scent... soured?" Lilia carefully asks when Kyomi stops.

"Yeah... It smelled like something was spoiling. And Leona — he carries that same hint of sourness, along with the spikes. And I'm pretty confident in saying that it's the effect of blot."

"Aha. So you want me to help prevent his overblot?" Lilia nods in understanding, except-

"The opposite, actually." Lilia blinks, and looks at him, horrified. "Before you say anything, I know it's risky, and dangerous. It could kill Leona, it could kill anyone close to him at the time. But... After Riddle overblotted, his scent... It was fresh. All the sourness gone. I immediately knew it was his natural scent. It was like that overblot had wiped the slate clean. Well, in terms of blot." Kyomi helplessly shrugs. "And considering the way his scent kept getting a little more sour, a little less, a little more before that... I think... Through might be the best way past." At least the quickest.

Lilia stares at him in disbelief, and Kyomi fidgets. Really, it's not like he wants to send Leona into an overblot. It looks awful, and it's hard on the body, and just. It's awful. That's really all there is to it. But Kyomi genuinely believes that this is the best way to go about it. To force Leona to face his issues and get rid of the blot in one fell swoop, which will make for a steadier, more stable mage after.

"Kyomi." Lilia's voice is quiet and measured and Kyomi prepares for the rejection, curling in on himself a little. "Do you truly believe this to be the best way to deal with the situation?"

Kyomi blinks. Straightens. Looks at Lilia.

There is a seriousness in his eyes that is at odds with his usually playful nature, and he is carefully studying Kyomi.

"... Yes," Kyomi softly says. "I do."

"Well, then, there's nothing else to it. If you don't manage to push him far enough..." Lilia trails off for a second, standing up. "If you don't manage, I'll be there to give him that last push. Just... be sure to get him through."

The trust Lilia has in him, despite not even really knowing who he is, makes Kyomi tear up a little, but he smiles through it. "Of course! Just gotta shatter the glass bowl."

He sees the confusion in Lilia's eyes, but starts walking back to the others with a laugh. It'll become clear in time, when Leona overblots. Shatter the glass, and it's done.

TWSTOBER DAY 14: KALIM AL ASIM

Kalim woke up to the ringing of his alarm. He groaned, flailing his hand a bit before finally connecting with his phone. Opening his eyes he could just barely make out the words “new start”. New start…when did he set that? What does that mean? He sits up in his bed, tapping on the alarm to stop it from blaring. New start. You're going to be self-sufficient. For Jamil. He read the message a few times thinking back to what happened during winter break. Jamil overblotted. He lost control because Kalim couldn't control himself. Because Kalim didn't know how to do anything by himself. If he wanted Jamil to be happy, he needed to get better. “A new start…for Jamil” Kalim got out of bed, standing in front of the mirror. “I can do this. Jamil managed me for years. I can figure this out myself!” He turns to his bed. Jamil always made his bed. He can figure it out! He takes the comforter in his hands, pulling it to the top of the bed. That's how Jamil usually makes it look right. No…the pillows are supposed to be on top of the sheets. And they always look straight when Jamil does it. So he can do it too. After about 10 minutes, he had the sheets straight, the pillows on top and the comforter tucked in. “That's how Jamil does it right?” Kalim said to himself, looking over the bed with a smile. He could do this. Jamil isn't gonna need to lift a finger by the time he's done! After a shower and getting his uniform on, he stood in front of the mirror. Jamil always did his hair…but Kalim could figure it out! He grabbed the comb and brush, getting to work to style and fix his bed head before tying on his head wrap. No…it looks lopsided. He tried to tie it again, and now the bow was weird. Kalim let out a huff, trying to tie the wrap one more time. “How does Jamil do this so easily…” After about ten or so minutes, Kalim felt good about it. He made his bed, put on his clothes and did his hair. He looked at himself in the mirror with a smile, letting out a chuckle. He could manage this. Jamil wouldn't have to stress about him now! His phone buzzed again, and he turned towards the table by his bed. Picking up his phone, he saw another alarm. Make breakfast. If you make food, Jamil won't have to taste test it. Kalim gave a nod, walking out of his room with his phone in his pocket. He cooked with the students from Octavinelle before. How hard could it be?

Turns out it was easy to burn eggs while trying to open a pack of bacon. Kalim nearly dropped the pan when hot bacon grease splashed onto his arm while cooking the bacon. As he looked down at his plate of eggs and blackened bacon, he let out a sigh. “Jamil really does this all without issues. I never realized how hard it is” Kalim said to no one in particular, taking a bite of his eggs. They were odd, kinda gummy, and absolutely bland. Nothing like how Jamil made them. Along with his crispy, ashen bacon, Kalim washed it all down with a cup of orange juice. At least he didn't mess that one up. He stood up from the table, putting his dishes in the sink…that's another thing Jamil would have to do today. Well, Kalim could do it too! And he was able to pull that one off! He washed off the food and grease from his plate and glass before setting them in the dish rack. He looked over his work with a smile. Well, he got through the morning. That's a step. A big step! As he turned around to walk out of the kitchen, he almost ran into someone; Jamil

“Kalim, you should watch where you're going.” he said, looking Kalim up and down. “Oh! Hi Jamil!” Kalim said a smile on his face. “You don't have to worry about anything today. I dressed myself, I made my bed, I even cooked breakfast so you didn't have to taste test it!” He looked at Jamil as he spoke, looking for anything among the bored features of his servant. “I hope you aren't expecting me to congratulate you. It's the bare minimum of anyone to do those tasks.” Kalim’s smile shifted for a moment before he let out a laugh. “Ha, I know. I just wanted to tell you so you didn't stress over it. I left you some bacon in the kitchen. It should still be hot.” Kalim said, trying to mask the shame in his tone. Of course, Jamil wouldn't give him any praise, this is how things should have always been, right? Another ring of his phone snapped Kalim from his thought, pulling out his phone once more. Your first class is at 9. Don't be late. Kalim looked at the time, 8:30. He was gonna be late if he didn't get going! “Oh, I gotta get to class! But I'll see you afterward okay?” Kalim took off before Jamil could answer, quickly making his way to class. He wasn't late, that was good. As he sat down at his desk and people funneled into the room, something else clicked…

he didn't have his books.

Can't Sleep

Word count: 1258

Kalim can't sleep. He's been tossing and turning all night but no matter how comfortable he gets he just can't sleep. Now in hindsight he really should be sleeping right now as he needs all the energy that he can get for VDC practice tomorrow, but sleep just eludes him.

He knows why he can't sleep. In Fact it's been a problem ever since Jamil’s overblot. With learning about how Jamil truly felt, learning that the one person he trusted for years and thought that they were friends, all came crashing down in one night. Then after everything they just ignore it and go back to normal. Well at least that's what it looks like.

Kalim has been trying to take steps to make things easier for Jamil. Like setting up alarms to get up early to get ready, or like when he tried cooking for himself, which ended with him being banned from the kitchen. But hey at least he tried, who knew making makhlama was so hard. 

But the main problem is that neither Kalim or Jamil have talked about that night at all. Even if they were to talk, what would they say? It's not like they can just magically make things better. Kalim can't just go ask his father to release Jamil of his duties. If he did his father would assume that Jamil wasn't doing his job and could possibly kill him. Kalim can't bear to have that happen. He cares about Jamil so much he can't just throw him to the wolves like that. These aren't the reasons that he can't sleep though. 

The reason he can't sleep is because of the nightmares he's been having almost every night since then. Some of them are just a repeat of that night but others…the others are worse in his opinion. They can range from Jamil simply completely losing himself to overblot, to Jamil just dying in horrible ways. So every night when Kalim goes to bed now he is terrified of what he'll end up seeing. 

Kalim turns to look at the other side of the room he and Jamil are sharing for their time here in Ramshackle, to see Jamil asleep completely oblivious to everything that's going on in Kalim’s mind. Kalim takes a deep breath and tries to relax and remember that ‘Jamil is right there. He's asleep. He's just fine. You're fine. You're both safe and nothing is going to happen.’

But that doesn't stop the onslaught of intrusive thoughts swarming his mind saying things like. ‘what if he's actually dead right now and we're just imagining he's alive’ 

‘He could die tomorrow during an accident or possibly poison that was really meant for you.’ 

‘or maybe he'll overblot again and-’

“Kalim?”

Kalim snaps his head in the direction of the voice to see a groggy Jamil sitting up rubbing the sleep from his eyes. “Why aren't you asleep? We need our rest or else we'll be dead on our feet during practice.” Kalim winces when at those last few words and tries to formulate an excuse.

Jamil pauses and tilts his head, his loose hair falling from his shoulder down to his back. Kalim always liked Jamil's hair. He always wanted to braid it but never asked, seeing it as rude. “Are you crying?” Kalim’s brain stops dead in its tracks ‘he’s crying?’. He brings his hand to his face to find that yes he is crying. He whips at the tears and simply tries to shrug it off. “Oh it's nothing, just some dust you know?”

Jamil gives him his ‘nice try look’. He flicks on the lamp on the nightstand and crosses his arms. “Really because judging from how puffy your face is it seems like you've been crying for a while. What? You miss your bed that much?”

Kalim shakes his head “no no not at all this is just fine I'm just having trouble sleeping is all.” Jamil chuckles “you're having that much trouble sleeping it made you cry? What could possibly be the issue to make it so hard?”

Kalim brings his knees to his chest, hiding his face within. “Nightmares…” Jamil raises a brow leaning forward a smidge. “What? Say that again please you know I can't understand when you mumble.” Kalim, tired and slightly frustrated, lifted his head. “I'm having nightmares about you ok?! Is that what you want to hear?!” 

Jamil flinches in shock not expecting the white haired boy to respond like that. Kalim realizing what he did brings his knees closer and lowers his head “I'm sorry I shouldn't have raised my voice. I'm just so tired and that's no excuse to take that out on you.” Jamil is slightly shocked by the apology but quickly recovers and instead focuses on what Kalim said. “Nightmares about me?” 

Kalim nods and lowers his head back into his knees. He hears shuffling and feels the bed dip down beside him. Jamil's voice comes out surprisingly soft. “Are they about my overblot?”. Kalim nods “and then some.” Jamil hums and turns away slightly “like what exactly?”

Kalim curls up tighter as if he could some more. “Like one time you died of poison meant for me, there was one where an assassin stabbed you. A-and the one w-where I found you with your neck snapped f-from a suicide a-attempt.” Kalim's voice grew Shaky as tears started pouring out his eyes. Jamil watches on as Kalim, sweet and innocent Kalim proceeds to explain some pretty graphic scenarios that he has been dealing with for a while now. All because of him. 

Jamil sighs and brings Kalim into a half hug. “Hey. I'm right here and I'm not planning on going anywhere just yet. I'm not going to die. Everything is going to be alright.” Kalim untangles himself and hugs Jamil fully while trying not to get tears all over him. Jamil hesitates but returns Kalim's hug.

After a few minutes of crying Kalim pulls away and wipes his tears away. “Sorry about that, I've just been stressed and it all came crashing down.” Jamil places his hand on Kalim's shoulder. “No, I get it. If I had those kinds of nightmares I think I would be a wreck too.” 

Kalim giggles at that and gives him a small smile. “And if you did, you could always come to me. That is! If you want to of course I'm not forcing you to come to me at all in fact you don't have to tell me anything you don't want to-” Jamil puts his other hand over Kalim’s mouth. “Ok! That's enough! I get it, Kalim! Jeez now that you're done do you think you can go to bed now it's almost 3 am.” Kalim looks down, obviously nervous to try and sleep again. Jamil sighs and pushes Kalim down. “Jamil what are you-?” Jamil pulls the covers up and lays down on the other side. “Stay on your side. Now go to sleep.” 

Kalim smiles and snuggles into his pillow “ok Jamil. We're going to talk about this eventually right?” 

“Eventually just not now. Now please for the love of the seven! Go. To. Bed!”

“Ok ok I'm sleeping!” Kalim turns onto his side away from Jamil. He yawns exhausted from crying and pouring out his troubles onto Jamil. His eyes grow heavy and close but just before he falls asleep he mutters. “ Thank you Jamil. Good night.” He's out before he could hear Jamil's tired response. “Yeah whatever. Your welcome….. Good night.”

Thought I'd do this with Yuu: (Full Bio)

Yuu Fontaine. Yuu just cause it's the standard and I thought it sounded nice, and Fontaine cause it's an elegant sounding French surname and they're from Pyroxene. As for nicknames, Floyd calls them Duckie and Rook calls them Roi de Birds.

The inspos are mostly from outside of Disney but the one Disney inspo he does have is Arthur from the Sword in the Stone

November 2nd, and they're 16 at the start of the year. Their birthday is closest to the Tweels. Their star sign is Scorpio but it isn't very accurate.

Due to a lot of convoluted nonsense they're in Ramshackle for their first year at NRC at least. Once they're properly sorted come year 2 they get put into Savanaclaw which is a surprise for a lot of people but Yuu is a skilled fighter and is incredibly persistent so they're a good fit.

They're in the same class as Sebek and while they get off to an iffy start they eventually become good friends.

They're about 5'9 so about Jamil's height.

Grey hair with light blue eyes.

They're from Pyroxene, however they didn't meet anyone from NRC prior to attending, though they are a fan of Vil's work (Note that I said NRC, they and Rollo have some history-)

They end up joining the equestrian club as they love animals and horse riding was something they always wanted to do. They like all their clubmates a lot (even if Riddle pre book 1 was... something), and the main issue that came up on the first day was almost running a sleeping Silver over with their horse Lin. All was forgiven but it was certainly an experience.

They're best at all of the physical subjects but also astrology to the surprise of many, though while it's not their best Yuu's favourite subject is animal languages. Tends to struggle a bit with potionology and will usually ask Riddle or Vil for help.

Whether it be horses or hedgehogs Yuu absolutely loves caring for animals, and has a bad tendency to sneak into Heartslaybul (post book 1 anyway) to play with them.

Just... doesn't like the sound of anything on a chalkboard. They don't judge anyone for it or even bring it up but it makes concentrating in a lot of classes pretty hard sometimes.

Is literally the polar opposite of Cater taste buds wise, aka they love anything sweet (especially hot chocolate) but cannot handle spice at all despite their best efforts. If they and Cater eating together at a party Trey isn't cooking for the two just swap foods first chance they get.

A surprisingly good sword fighter despite not much practice. Doesn't consider it anything too special, especially given they're generally not a fan of bloodshed which swords are used for, but Sebek and later the rest of Diasomnia notice, leading to Lilia sometimes roping them into training so they can get better and more comfortable with it.

Their UM is called Knightsoul. It let's them put up a very powerful barrier that blocks most spells, however it can only be used to cover others and not Yuu themselves, so when fighting solo they're more vulnerable. The incantation is: "To protect my friends, I will cast this spell. It may not work, but if I don't try I'll never know. Knightsoul!"

Kind, energetic, reckless. Probably closest to Deuce personality wise.

They're the third child of a Pyroxene fashion designer, and had a pretty normal childhood, save for some very bloody nightmares. Also is unintentionally their houses roof is covered in bird poop ad they tend to sneak up there to feed the pigeons. However things took an interesting turn as on they say they were meant to go to Noble Bell for school, they were somehow teleported to a coffin at NRC instead. While this was a lot, not helped by Grim being a pyromaniac, they felt this was destiny so after Yuu called their parents to let them know they were fine they asked if they could go to NRC instead which they agreed to after some phone calls with Crowley.

20. Ace AND Deuce. They bonded early on over getting collared by Riddle (Ace for the tart thing, Yuu for trying to pet the hedgehogs, and Deuce for trying his best but still making mistakes) and despite all of them beinga. unique flavour of dumbass at points their friendship kept getting stronger, to the point when Ace and Deuce were taken out of commission in book 6 Yuu was worried sick, leading to them realising their own feelings and confessing to the pair while they were unconscious... and they both happened to wake up as they said it. There was a lot of awkward blushing afterwards but in the end they all confessed and got together.
