Hunt
Characters: Shimura Kyomi, Rook Hunt
Story: Descend into Magic (Disney TWST AU)
CW: none
WC: 576
Is it a werewolf AU? Is it a Halloween prank gone wrong? Who knows. I don't.
Kyomi's ear twitches as time ticks on, body filled with restless energy. The moon isn't quite up yet, so the transformation is only partial right now, but it's only a matter of minutes before she's fully a wolf. And she has no idea where Rook's disappeared off to, with his bow and those dangerously observant eyes of his.
Her skin begins to itch, and as she looks to her right, she can see the moon peeking out from the horizon. It's time.
+++
Rook hums as he checks his arrows and bow, feeling quite happy. Tonight is going to be a great hunt, he can tell.
+++
Kyomi's tail swishes to and fro as she walks around the school grounds, made curious by how different everything is in her current form. Even the air smells different like this, and normally her sense of smell is already inhuman.
Interesting, how much can change through a simple transformation.
A familiar sound she can't quite describe reaches Kyomi's ears, and she turns to find the source. She knows what that sound is, except her brain won't let her know, too occupied still with the difference in how she perceives the world now.
Then she spots the source, as Rook carefully aims his bow. Ah, that was the sound of an arrow being nocked. Oh nyo. Time to put those powerful paws of her to work.
Twisting her body, she starts running away, shuddering as she feels the wind of the arrow just barely missing her. Man, Rook's scary good with that bow of his. Ooh, she's fucked, isn't she?
Kyomi runs as fast as she can, twisting around, jumping over and diving under obstacles, but no matter what she does, she can't seem to lose Rook. Which means Leona was accurate while complaining about Rook, fun to know.
... Sort of fun to know, at least, she rethinks her last thought as another arrow narrowly misses.
She has a sinking feeling Rook is leading her into a trap, though, and she can't exactly stop to check, not if she doesn't want to get hit by an arrow.
Then, she slides around a corner, and is almost met with a wall to the face, though luckily she manages to scramble to a stop right before she hits it.
When she turns to find another way, Rook is already there, not a hair out of place and a perfect smile on his face as he aims an arrow straight at her.
"You lost, petit loup," he says, right before he lets the arrow fly.
Kyomi sneezes as the arrow explodes into dust in her face, shaking her head. Yucky.
She whines, getting closer to Rook to place a paw on his leg, looking up at him with the most sad and wet eyes she can manage in this form.
He laughs, kneeling down to gently scratch behind her ears. "You did very well, petit loup. You almost lost me a few times, there. Je suis désolé, I did not expect you to stand still at the end there. I thought you would try to dodge, and I would hit your back."
Kyomi just whines pathetically, pressing closer to him.
"Ah, very well, I will repent, for my horrible sin of making you sneeze with powder." Rook shakes his head, an amused smile on his face, as he easily scoops her up. "Let us go to your dorm for a nap, hm?"

Ulterior Motives
Original post February 10th, 2024 (x)
You know, staring like that isn’t going to be helping me.” Kyomi briefly stops drawing to glance at Solomon leaning over her.
“Sorry, I just wanted to make sure you were doing it right,” he says, lifting his hands as he backs off. “Seals are difficult.”
“Well, if I’m still doing it right, which I’m gonna assume since you didn’t say anything, then so far not really.” Kyomi shrugs, going back to drawing the seal. First get it down, then imbue it with magic. And once she’s good enough, she can imbue it with magic while getting it down.
“Well, you’re doing perfectly so far. Is it really not that difficult to you? Most apprentices struggle with it, from what I’ve heard.”
“You just gotta. Remember what you’re supposed to be drawing.” Kyomi tucks her hair behind her ear again, wishing she’d thought to put it in a ponytail before she started. Luckily, Solomon seems to notice her predicament, as he approaches once again to carefully pull her hair back and tie it with a ribbon.
“You’re almost done. And then we can see how good it is.” He lets his hand rest on her head for a little longer before backing off again, studying her instead of the seal. Idiot.
Kyomi gets up on her knees, carefully drawing the last lines while trying to avoid smudging the rest. She’d have to do the entire thing over. “And there we go.”
“Well, use your magic, darling. See what it does.”
“If this blows up in my face I’m holding you responsible.” Still, she does as told, pouring her magic into the seal until it reacts. And just like it should, it seals the meal Solomon made. Good riddance, even if she’d never say that to his face.
Solomon whistles, nodding at the seal. “Impressive, darling. I think even I would have some trouble breaking through that. You’ve sealed that really tight. Which means the food will stay fresh, and we can eat it later!”
…
Fuck.

I Love You
Characters: Leona Kingscholar, Shimura Kyomi
Story: Descend Into Magic
CW: none that I know of
WC: 510
Leona sighs as he trudges back to the dorm. Another day of taking a class here and a nap there, with Ruggie coming to bother him every so often. The same way it always is.
He's tired. A soul-deep exhaustion that's been there since he was a child, that won't go away no matter how much he sleeps. Still, it's the only possible solution he has.
Some students greet him as he walks, and he just grunts in reply. They leave him alone soon enough, probably having heard horror stories about what happens when you disturb Leona when he's like this.
He squints at the sky before grunting again. Not even a good day for just laying on the ground and staring for a few hours.
"Kitty!" A shout is the only warning he gets before a small body slams into him full force. Really, if the omnivore was any bigger, he might actually have made Leona stumble.
"Kyomi," he rumbles in response, looking down at one of the few people he tolerates.
Big, red eyes stare up at him, filled with plenty of emotion Leona can't decipher before it's gone, just a big smile on his face, one that almost forces Kyomi's eyes closed. "I love you, Leona," he says, simple and honest.
It's so little, and something he's said plenty of times before, and yet this time it's enough to make Leona freeze. "... What?" His voice croaks a little and he winces, both at the sound and his own question.
"I love you. A lot. You're important to me, Leona." Kyomi's eyes take on a determined shine, looking just like rubies. It takes Leona's breath away a little.
"Where's this coming from?" he asks, trying to play at being unaffected and instead just getting confused and a little helpless.
"You're having a bad day, so I wanted to remind you that I'm here for you." Kyomi's eyes soften now, losing that ruby quality, but still being just as bright, just as colorful. "If you ever need to vent, or need an escape from it all, or just want a hug... I'm here for you. You're my friend, I'd burn down the world for you if you wanted me to."
Anyone else, Leona would have thought they'd be exaggerating. Maybe he would have appreciated the sentiment, but he would not have believed them. Kyomi, though? He knows the brat isn't lying. He's seen how fiercely protective he is of those he loves, the lengths he's willing to go. Even before he cared for Leona, he was already risking his life for him.
"Tch," he says instead of any of his thoughts, picking up his omnivore under one arm.
"Eh? Where are we going?" Kyomi tilts his head, and Leona squeezes him.
"To Savanaclaw. It's time for dinner."
"Oh. Okay." Kyomi easily relaxes, letting Leona carry him off.
Leona glances around again before he steps into the mirror chamber, a soft smile he'd never admit to on his face as the grass suddenly seems greener, the sky a brighter blue than before.

Letter of Doom
Characters: Shimura Kyomi, Vanarath (Kyomi's (usually adoptive) dad), brief advisor
Story: Sleeping Brat (Descend into Magic sleeping beauty AU)
TW: none
WC: 567
"Kyomi, listen to me," pops says, unusually serious as he gently holds Kyomi's shoulders. And really, even if he hadn't sounded that serious, she still would've known something was up, with him calling her by her name, rather than some variation of beastie.
"Pops?" She tilts her head, nodding at him to go on. It can't be about her sneaking out - she's careful, and he could've just sent guards after her. It's not like it's a secret where she's headed.
"It's- fear is a disease, okay? Especially fear of a people. And I'm going to need you to never succumb to it."
"Huh?" What brought this on? Did something happen? Pops looks back at an advisor, Callan, who'd stayed behind for god knows why.
"Vanarath, I don't think it's a good idea to tell her. After all-"
"While I appreciate your advice, I think I should. It's about her, too. She deserves to know. So please, give me the letter."
"... Very well. Until another time, prince,"
"Bye, Mr. Callan." Kyomi waves at him, turning back to pops the moment she's out the door. "What's happening?"
"We got a letter, from the fae." Pops looks down at the letter in his hands, and Kyomi follows his eyes. The writing on it is elegant, but at entirely the wrong angle for her to read like this. "It warns us that, essentially, they'll make us pay for the death of their princess, almost 200 years ago."
"... Don't they realize that has nothing to do with us anymore?" Sure, pops is almost 100 now, and Kyomi and Dia will live longer than humans too, it comes with not quite being human, but that had still been her grandfather. Even pops hadn't been born yet. And the people of their country... They are human. 200 years for them is almost an eternity.
"I'm not sure they do," pops says with a wry little laugh. "But even if they did, they want payback. It's part of why that battle happened, about 50 years ago."
"I see... But what does that have to do with fear?"
"Because the reason their princess died is because humans feared the fae, and attacked them. They weren't from our country, but they did move through here, so the fae blamed our kingdom. And... This letter specifically threatens my children."
... A child for a child, huh. Awfully rude. Kyomi is just 20, and Dia only 26. Still. "Do you need me to stop sneaking out?" She can't stand being locked in the castle for longer periods of time, but she can try if it's what he needs to set his mind at ease.
"No, no, although I appreciate the offer." Pops laughs, laying one of his hands on her head. "My thoughtful little beastie. No, I don't need you to stop going out. I would, however, appreciate if you could take your sorcerer with you, on new outings."
"Yeah, sure." Kyomi nods. Solomon isn't a bad choice, and he'll keep the kids amused, too.
"Thank you." Pops pulls her into a hug, pressing kisses to the top of her head. "No matter what happens, never forget how much I love you, okay?"
"I won't." Kyomi's voice is muffled, pressed into pops as she is. "You don't forget how much I love you, either."
"And don't forget, don't succumb to fear, okay? You're stronger than that."

Macarena
Characters: Vil Schoenheit, Shimura Kyomi, old fae king ghost who still refuses to tell anyone his name
Story: Descend into Magic (TWST AU)
TW: none
WC: 377
Vil sighs as Kyomi's eyes once again go to the corner, tapping his finger on his arm. "Kyomi."
"Ah- yes?" Kyomi's eyes flick up to meet Vil's briefly before he's looking at the corner again.
"Please explain why you're staring at the corner, instead of paying attention."
"I am paying attention!" Kyomi protests, eyes flicking to Ace this time as he places a hand on Ace's arm, wordlessly communicating something with him.
"Then why aren't you looking at me while I'm explaining?"
"Because we keep making eye contact and I hate eye contact." Kyomi shrugs. "It's the 'tism."
"Tism?" Vil frowns. He's never heard of that, and he doubts it's-
"Autism. 'Tism."
Ah. That makes more sense. Still. "You don't seem to have trouble maintaining eye contact with your friends, though."
"'S different. And even then not all. Can't with Jack or Riddle. Or Trey. Or Azul."
"Alright, alright. I get it. Just pay attention."
"Yeah, I will." Kyomi nods, eyes flicking towards Vil and maintaining eye contact for a whole second before staring at the corner again.
Well, Vil will just have to ask him some pointed questions later, to make sure he actually was paying attention.
+++
Once free from Vil's attention and away from others, Kyomi turns to glare at the ghost following her around. "You are so fucking lucky I have the autism excuse."
He laughs, shaking his head. "I am sure you would have managed either way, little menace. And you also could have just ignored me."
"Ignored you? You were-" Kyomi pauses, taking a breath and lowering her voice before she gets spotted yelling at air. "You were doing the macarena in the stupidest way possible. How the hell am I supposed to ignore that?"
He just laughs again, playfully ruffling her hair, and Kyomi wonders how it would look to others. Like a breeze doing it, maybe? "I thought you would appreciate a distraction. But let us put this matter aside for now, hm? I believe it is time for you to eat, now."
As if on cue, Kyomi's stomach growls. "... Fine." She huffs, walking towards the dorm, keenly aware of the ghost still following her. If only other people could see him, she'd have a lot less trouble.

An unfortunate ignorance
Characters: Malleus Draconia, Shimura Kyomi, Malleus' grandmother
Story: A sort of sleeping beauty AU of Descend Into Magic/that series
Warnings: none
Word count: 441
It's a bad idea and she knows it, yet Kyomi can't help but follow the call.
It's sweet and comforting at surface level, but beneath that, she can feel the danger, the anger.
And still underneath that, sadness, eagerness for something, longing. Loneliness, too.
The call beckons her, and she can't help it. She doesn't even know where she is, how she got there, all she knows is the call.
Then, with a pinprick, the call is gone. She has maybe two seconds to look around, see the dark room she's in, before sleep overtakes her, and then she's gone.
+++
"Oh," his grandmother gasps in delight as his spell finally takes effect. "There we go, oh, what a wonderful spell, absolutely flawless."
Malleus can't help but preen at the praise his grandmother gives him, or the proud — and amused — smile Lilia gives him from across the room. "All I did was follow your instructions, grandmother," he says, unable to stop his own smile from forming.
"A splendid casting, my dear." His grandmother reaches out, gently stroking his hair. "Yes, a splendid casting indeed. And now, we wait for them to notice."
+++
It takes almost a day for anyone to notice, in the end. Their darling prince is always running off, disappearing. Her not being seen for a day or two is nothing special. Maybe it should be, considering she's royalty, so always at risk, but well. She's proven she can take care of herself, and the people would rather see her happy than locked up.
In the end, it's her brother that finds her, and only by coincidence. A faint unfamiliar magic had caught his attention, and as he followed it, there she was.
If he hadn't decided to take a different route through the castle than usual, it would have taken even longer.
+++
Unlike his grandmother, Malleus can't find joy in watching their neighbors scramble in panic as their princess is in a deep, magical slumber.
He doesn't blame his grandmother, for their neighbors had brought this upon themselves, but he simply can't find the joy she does.
Still, he is curious about the princess his spell had caught, and so he goes to visit.
It's the middle of the night, and he uses his magic to get in unseen. Surprisingly, there aren't any guards around the princess' room, nor any magic to keep her safe.
Malleus raises an eyebrow before he shrugs, entering the room and closing the door behind him. Only then does he look at the bed, and his heart skips a beat.
Of all the people it could have been... It was her?

Weapon No More
Characters: Shimura Kyomi, Shimura Tenko
Story: Kyomi does it over AU (BNHA fic)
CW: mention of Kyomi having killed someone, the general unpleasantness that comes with All For One and the way he raised Kyomi. Happy ending though.
WC: 282
Kyomi... Isn't sure how she feels. On the ground is the body of her target. Covered in blood. Same as her.
"Good job, Kyomi," Sensei coos, stroking her hair. It takes everything she has not to shudder. "You protected your brother."
+++
Kyomi shudders as she wakes up, shaking her head. It's been a while since she had that type of nightmare. To be honest, she'd almost forgotten about that memory.
It was the first time she realized, even if not explicitly, that Sensei really just meant to use her as a weapon. That her ability to hurt and kill others was her only worth, to him.
...
She still wonders if Tenko actually would have gotten hurt if she hadn't killed that man.
"Wha're you doin'?" Tenko sleepily looks up from his cot, and she shakes her head again.
"Nightmare," she says.
Ten years since she got sent back in time, now. Since she got a chance to redo it all. Or, well, most of it.
Tenko huffs, getting off his cot to join her in bed instead. "Idiot," he mutters, and she chuckles.
"Can't deny that."
"Good thing I stayed over, huh? I doubt you would've gone to find comfort otherwise." He pulls her close, resting her head above his heart. "I know today was upsetting, but... We haven't been there in a long while. We're safe now." He strokes her hair and she smiles, snuggling further into him.
"... I'm sorry you can't be home tonight, though. I know you wanted to see your boyfriend again."
"It's fine. He understands. And after all you've done to protect me... Well, you're my little sister. It's time I start protecting you."

It can't be
Characters: Rook Hunt, Vil Schoenheit, technically speaking Shimura Kyomi
Story: Descend into magic (TWST fic)
WC: 231
TW: character death (Kyomi). Death does not happen on screen but they sure do find the body on screen.
"No," Rook says, horrified, before rushing off. Vil shares a glance with the others before running after him, thoughts racing.
What did Rook notice to suddenly start running? Normally, Vil would assume he'd finally found their last spudling, but why would he sound like that, then?
It's after a bit of running that Vil finds out why.
At the edge of a clearing, collapsed with his back against a tree, is Kyomi.
His clothes covered in blood.
His hands, too.
Even his face.
"Kyomi!" Rook falls to his knees next to the unmoving spudling, and Vil takes a step back, barely noticing the way Deuce bumps into him.
There could only be one reason why—
No, it can't be. Surely. Surely Kyomi is fine? Surely this is just some ill-timed joke?
Kyomi can't be.
Kyomi can't be gone.
And certainly not because of him.
He watches as Rook sits back, helplessly shaking his head after having tried to find any sign of life.
No.
It can't be.
He walks closer, getting out a handkerchief to wipe the blood of Kyomi's face, at the very least. He already complained about the sensation of other dried fluids, Vil can only imagine how much he'd complain about blood, when... when he wakes up. Because he has to. It's Kyomi. Kyomi has survived four other overblots. Vil's can't be the one to do him in.

Spoiled
Characters: Trey Clover, Shimura Kyomi
Story: Descend into Magic (TWST fic)
WC: 387
CW: none
Trey smiles to himself as the door of Ramshackle's kitchen opens, just barely visible from the corner of his eyes. He wondered how long it would take.
Credit where it's due, Kyomi is quiet, and if it wasn't for the fact Trey had known he would come, he would never have noticed.
The moment Kyomi reaches out for one of the cookies, Trey lightly slaps his fingers with a spatula. "Not yet," he says, not even properly facing Kyomi as he focuses on the oven. It's almost ready, and...
DING!
"But I want a cookie." Trey can hear the playful pout in Kyomi's voice as he takes the cookies out of the oven.
"How many have you already had today?" He puts the cookies down, turning to face the little menace.
"Only one!" As if to prove a point, Kyomi sticks up a single finger, still pouting.
"Promise?"
"Promise!" Looking into Kyomi's earnest eyes, Trey sighs. As an older brother, he's been faced with his fair share of puppy eyes. And really, he's basically immune to them at this point.
But, Kyomi really only had the one, and he's been so well behaved lately, keeping not only himself, but also Grim, Ace, and Deuce out of trouble. That does deserve a reward of some kind, no? And these cookies are meant for Kyomi's birthday party later this week, so they were gonna be eaten by him anyway.
"Promise you'll leave the cookies alone after this?"
Kyomi's eyes light up, and he nods, an adorable grin on his face as his cheeks redden a little bit with a happy blush. Really, Trey invites anyone to look at this and not feel the urge to spoil him.
"Alright, one more cookie, then." Trey theatrically sighs, picking up one of the decorated cookies. "Open wide."
He expects some protesting, after all, Kyomi is 20 now, fully capable of feeding himself, but instead, Kyomi just. Opens wide. Zero hesitation, no thinking involved. Does this happen often?
With that amusing thought in mind, Trey puts the cookie in Kyomi's mouth. "Enjoy," he says, ruffling Kyomi's hair affectionately.
Kyomi makes a happy noise, chewing the cookie with bulging cheeks from the clumsiness that comes with eating a whole cookie in one go, entirely satisfied.
Maybe Trey will have to spoil him more often.

"How long do we have left?"
"Seven days, my Queen."
"Hm. Better hurry it up, then."

"Sorry, Idia... But it's just our friend! I'm sure you'll be fine!"
+++
"Stop running, Kalim. You'll trip."
"I can't help it! I'm just so excited! Tomorrow it's all gonna happen!"
+++
"Man, y'all really have been dragging me everywhere these past few days." Kyomi shakes his head as he lets Epel drag him towards yet another destination. Luckily, this time it's Scarabia dorm, rather than any of the other places they've been so far.
"It's for a good cause." Jack nods as if he's trying to convince himself, his tail wagging faster than Kyomi has seen so far.
"Yeah, just let us take the lead, Kymi." Ace throws an arm over his shoulder, putting more than a little bit of weight on him.
"We've been very busy to make sure everything went right." Deuce smiles at him, soft and gentle.
"And no one is gonna tell me what it's all about?"
"Nope!" It's not often the four of them are completely in sync, but now is one of those times they are.
Well, whatever. Kyomi will just let them do what they want, if it makes them happy.
He's dragged through the yard in front and into one of the bigger-
"Happy late birthday!"
- into one of the bigger rooms, where his friends are gathered with cake.
"... Thanks?" Kyomi tilts his head, laughing a little. Yeah, this... Is not what he had expected. "This explains a whole lot."
"Shrimpy!" Floyd picks him up, squeezing him tightly but not painfully. "We planned it all out together! Exactly a month after your birthday!"
"Woulda been on your birthday, if you'd told us," Leona says, rolling his eyes.
"That's..." Kyomi flushes, ducking his head. It's not his fault, okay? He's just only celebrated his birthday a few times, so he tends to forget it's a thing.
"Oh, stunning!" Rook places his hands on Kyomi's cheeks, making him look up. "That colour on your face! Beauté!"
"I hope you enjoy your late birthday, child of man." Even Tsunotaro is here...
"Thanks, guys," Kyomi says, trying to blink away the tears welling up. Ridiculous, just because they're throwing him a birthday party he's suddenly getting emotional?
"Hope you have many more, or whatever..." They even dragged Idia out of his room? That- wow. They all really care about him, huh.
"Well, if everyone's here, let's get this party started!" Kalim grins, hitting the play button on the speaker.
... Yeah, Kyomi loves his friends.

An Old Promise
Characters: Shimura Kyomi, Nedzu, very brief Shimura Tenko
Story: The Devil's Gift (BNHA fanfic)
TW: none
WC: 223
"Don't worry," Tenko tells her, squeezing her small wrist with four of his fingers. "We'll always stay together, okay? I promise. I'll always protect you."
"Mhm!"
+++
Kyomi opens her eyes with a snort and a painful pang in her heart. Tenko's promise... Well, it sure hadn't been kept. But she can't exactly blame him for that.
She rolls herself out of bed, getting her hair out of her face as she walks into the living room. Neither of them ever could've predicted what would happen after Sensei took them in.
"Good morning, Kyomi," Nedzu chirps from the couch, a cup of tea in his hands and another on the table, which he gestures to. "Sleep well?"
Kyomi smiles, picking up the cup and taking a sip. "Yeah. Had a good dream." Even if neither of them could keep the promise, it still was a good memory, a fond one.
"I'm glad." Nedzu gives her that fond smile he always does, and it chases away the sadness that had been creeping up on her. "Yamada will be by in a few hours to take you shopping, so make sure to be ready before then, okay?"
"Yep yep." The promise might have been broken, but she didn't really need it anymore. She's got a new family now, after all, even if she'll still miss Tenko.

Should have kept your promise
Characters: Shimura Kyomi, Sengoku the Buddha, Portgas D. Ace (also tiny bit of Monkey D. Garp, Izou, and Edward Newgate)
Story: the extremely self indulgent AU of Kyomi in One Piece
TW: None
WC: 945
A/N: if you haven't read up to Marineford yet, spoilers.
Kyomi looks up from the paper she'd been reading as Sengoku enters his office, distracted by whatever he's doing. She grins as he turns around and flinches at the sight of her, clearly not having noticed her at all.
"Can I help you...?" He warily asks, although he doesn't seem to be too on guard yet. Well, that makes sense. She's not a very well-known pirate yet, after all.
"Tell me, Sengoku-san," she says, putting her paper down and leaning towards him. "Have you ever heard of the 'Ghost Flame'?"
"Do you have information on that pirate?" There's something almost hopeful in his eyes, and Kyomi nods, standing up from Sengoku's chair.
"That I do. And I can give you his life, even... But only if you don't execute Fire Fist." She's leaning on the desk now, staring him down despite the fact that he's almost twice her size.
"What?" Her demand clearly startles him, and his hand twitches.
"You haven't announced it yet, but I know the Marines well enough, and I know you know who his father is. You're going to execute him, publicly, because of it. But quite frankly, I don't think someone should pay for the sins of their parents." Kyomi pushes away from the desk, walking towards the window. "So, I'm offering you Ghost Flame's life in exchange for Fire Fist's."
"And why would I ever take that offer? Gol D. Ace is still the second division commander of the Whitebeard pirates, after all."
"Because he is a known force. Ghost Flame? Try as you might, you don't know anything about him. You have no idea what he's doing at any point. He could be planning to storm Marijoa as we speak." Which. Is something Kyomi had been thinking about doing. "You don't even have to free Portgas D. Ace," she continues, putting more force on the Portgas than she usually would. "Just don't execute him."
+++
The plan works, and Kyomi quietly enjoys the face Sengoku made as she revealed that she's Ghost Flame. The road down to her cell in Impel Down is boring, but she doesn't let it bother her. She just needs to sit out the few days it takes for her to be executed, and then it's all fine. Her crew is already busy with the plans to break Ace out of Impel Down the moment she's executed, and once that's done he'll be back with Whitebeard.
"Nee-chan!" Ace's voice pulls her out of her thoughts, and she gives him a soft smile, ignoring the equally chained up Jimbei in the same cell for now as she's roughly pushed in and chained up with seastone. Hah. Losers. That won't do shit.
"Don't worry, Ace. Everything's gonna be fine," she softly says when the guards are gone, ignoring the look of disbelief in his eyes.
+++
"I'm sorry," Sengoku softly says to him as he stands next to Kyomi, staring at the approaching ship. From the high vantage point they have, Kyomi can easily see the chair with a chained up Ace in it, making him tense up. "But orders are orders."
The next few minutes as Ace is hauled up to the platform, it takes everything Kyomi has to not go on a murder spree. All's not lost, though. He can feel his crew drawing closer, ready to make sure Luffy doesn't arrive at Marineford at all, because for some reason he's getting close too, as well as Whitebeard under the surface of the bay. He'd first thought Newgate was here for him, to show his respect, but apparently not.
The ship that brought Ace has backed off again, meaning Newgate's ship can surface easily. The minute they do that, Kyomi decides, he's gonna free himself and Ace. Then they'll escape. However, he could also be a little funnier, he thinks.
"Ne, Izou," he calls as he spots the man on Whitebeard's ship, his voice easily carrying over all the ruckus from the Marines below him. "How long do you think it will take for them to realize seastone doesn't do anything to me?" he continues in Japanese (or whatever it's called in this world, he's too tired to remember).
"Until you break yourself out, I suspect," Izou replies without missing a beat, and Kyomi snorts.
"Yeah, you're right." This time he speaks in the common language, letting everyone understand him. "Let's get this show on the road then, shall we?" He turns to Sengoku with a grin, his heart doing a happy little jump as he feels Garp walk away, clearly ready to let them escape. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... Well, good luck surviving long enough to attempt it."
Ace looks at him with wide eyes, and Kyomi lets his flames burst forth, the white fire making the Marines jump back. He lets it burn through the chains keeping him and Ace down as his body transforms, grabbing Ace and launching himself off the platform, towards Newgate.
He drops Ace in Newgate's waiting arms, flying up after to land on the crow's nest of the Moby Dick.
"Now, let me properly introduce myself," he says, his wings folding into his back to be out of the way. "I am Shimura Kyomi-"
"Shimura D. Kyomi," Garp interjects from the platform.
"Fine, fine. I am Shimura D. Kyomi, the captain of the Ghost Pirates, and the older sister of Portgas D. Ace and Monkey D. Luffy." He places a hand over his heart as he bows. "And quite frankly, this is the only warning you'll ever get from me. Try to touch either of my little brothers again, and I will end you."

Silly Little Goose
Characters: Shimura Kyomi, Childe
Story: Kyomi in Genshin AU
CW: None
WC: 286
A/N I'd just posted about thinking about this when I saw the FFF post for this one and. Yeah.
"You know," Childe starts as he keeps Kyomi's feet to the ground while she does sit ups, "you keep calling me all these silly nicknames, but I don't have one for you."
"Yeah? What about it?" Kyomi pauses as she sits, tilting her head at him.
"Hey, no break yet." Childe playfully pushes her down a little, and she snorts as she resumes her training. "I was just thinking that I should have at least some kind of nickname for you, too. But I can't really find one."
"Well," Kyomi grunts, finishing the last sit up of the set. "It depends on what way you wanna go. My older sibling turned Kyomi into Kymi. But if you wanna use Danya, you could go for a-Ya or Ya-er."
"Doesn't Zhongli call you Liu-er?"
"Yeah. With liu for willow. Long story."
"Hm. None of those feel right, though." Childe collapses on the ground next to her, taking her hand in his.
"Honestly? You could call me a silly little goose for all I care. A rose by any other name, and all."
Childe makes a thoughtful noise before suddenly looking at her, confusion clear in his eyes.
"A rose by any other name? What's that mean?"
"Uh..." Kyomi hesitates, tilting her head. "Give me a sec to remember the full quote. It's from a play." She taps her leg, trying to remember. "Something like 'that which we know as a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet' I think?"
"So basically... A name doesn't matter because it's still the same thing?"
"At least how I interpret it, yeah." Kyomi nods.
"Well then, my silly little goose." Childe grins, pinching her nose. "Thank you for educating me."
