Sophie Foster is actually just an armadillo in disguise.
I hate to say it but my first response to this was "sophie is a goblin?" because Shannon describes them as having armadillo-like skin.
but just hang on a moment!! I gotta look up characteristics and personality of an armadillo and then i'll get back to you. okay i'm back!!
"armadillos are not social creatures and spend most of their time sleeping." I think this applies better to the human-sophie era, what with the avoiding crowds and trying not to interact with her classmates. and then the sleeping thing--she was so ready to just ignore all her homework and go to bed immediately after dinner in the first book. breaking news she's actually always asleep at heart, the stresses of a war on her shoulders are just keeping her up at the moment. as soon as everything is over she's gonna go right back to her 16 hours of sleep a day tendencies
"armadillos most definitely aren't cuddly." considering how many throwing stars she has in her plethora of pockets, I'd say she's literally not cuddly, and would in fact be a little sharp to cuddle, had she not emptied her pockets.
"armadillos are nocturnal animals." sophie is up practically the entire night every night, I'd say at this point she's becoming nocturnal
oh here's one i think is cool! the name "armadillo" means little armored one in spanish, which i've mentally associated with her overwhelming number of abilities and how they protect her. she's just this little tank running around like an armadillo.
I'm assuming this was meant as just a casual shitpost but after looking through a few websites I can confidently conclude that Sophie Elizabeth Foster shares several characteristics and traits with armadillos!!
#animals.net tells me that they can also be up to nearly 5ft long#so sophie isn't short she's just an armadillo#not a sentence I expected to write this morning but I'm not complaining#they can be up to 119 lbs which is person sized!#I am much more invested in this than I probably should be#but I think I've complied a good amount of evidence#and that was with just a few minutes of research#then again from writing the wings au i learned the best keywords for these kinds of things so#probably saved me a little time there#kotlc#keeper of the lost cities#sophie foster#armadillo!sophie#cursed kotlc#quil's queries#nonsie

About Loralie
THE GODDESS OF WISDOM
Name: Loralie Vördottir
Other names/aliases: Lora, Lady Loralie, Li
Age: 1 053
Sign: Virgo (Birthday: August 30th, 970 AD)
Type: Asgardian
Title: ”the Goddess of Wisdom”
Personality type (Myers-Briggs): ISTJ
Alignment: Neutral good
Sexual orientation: Pansexual
Romantic orientation: Panromantic
Gender: Cis female
Powers and abilities -
Like all Asgardians, Loralie possesses physical powers, like Superhuman Durability, making her body generally more resistant to injury in comparison to the bodies of humans. However, despite her natural durability, she is able to sustain injury. She does possess the Regenerative Healing Factor that all of the other Aesir do, but due to her size, it takes her longer to heal in comparison to the other gods and goddesses. She is physically weaker than most Asgardians, only being able to lift(press) around 15 tons in optimal conditions, when the average for Asgardian goddesses is 25 tons. She has received basic training in both armed and unarmed combat, but is far from an excellent warrior. Just able to defend herself, if necessary. Thanks to Allspeak, an ability all Asgardian deities possess, Loralie can speak every language.
What she lacks in physical strength, Loralie makes up for in her mental abilities. Thanks to the tutoring she has received from her mother and her constant self-studying to better her skills, she is one of the rare Asgardians to wield magic, seidr, as it has been called by some. This skill is a capability to manipulate vast amounts of energy for different purposes, including for example teleportation and shape-shifting.
Physical appearance -
With the height of only 5'4"(162.6 cm) Loralie is quite short for an Asgardian young adult. Her height has resulted in rumours of her parentage in her younger years with people claiming her to be half-dwarf and not fully of the Asgardian kind. These rumours are completely false. She has very long, dark brown hair, pale skin and blue eyes. She is of a petite, slender build, not muscular at all. However, due to the superhuman density of the Asgardians’ tissues in their skin, bone and muscles, she is heavier than her size lets on, weighing about 264 lbs (119 kg).
Face claim: Emily Rudd
Biography -
Loralie was born in the early hours of the morning to her parents, former lady-in-waiting of Queen Frigga’s and then-Goddess-of-Wisdom, Vör, and her soldier husband, after years of them trying to conceive a child without any success. So, being the first and only child of the couple, Loralie was the apple of her parents’ eye, and received a great deal of love and attention from the both of them. Their home, a small house on the outskirts of the city, was always filled with warmth, laughter and light. Her mother, being the woman she was, started to teach her daughter seidr from a young age, and later in life pushed her towards higher education. This meant, that in addition to traditional schooling, Loralie received extra education at home from Vör, relating to subjects that were not on the schools’ curricula. But as all good things, this happy family life had to come to an end at some point. When Lora was around 800 years old, she received the news of her parents’ death. With no other relatives around, the new Goddess of Wisdom was on her own and had to adopt full responsibility of herself and her life from now on. So she left her childhood home to search for work. She offered herself as a new soldier for Odin’s army and received some basic training. Although she had had a great teacher, it was well-known among most, that Loralie’s future will not lead her to a battlefield. Even as young as she was, she had often expressed skills more suited for an ambassador, than a soldier, and those skills did not go unnoticed. So one day, when she was spending some time in the libraries, she was offered a position as a diplomat, to which she gladly obliged. This occupation later led her to become a part of Odin’s council, in addition to being both an ambassador and spy on the other Realms. Most of her missions are on Earth, making it a second home to her as she spends the vast majority of her time there, when not on Asgard.
Personality -
Even from a young age, Loralie has exhibited characteristics suited well for her title as the Goddess of Wisdom and her occupation. While in official situations, she is extremely proper and cold, using her intelligence and wisdom to her advantage in the current discussion, whilst strictly sticking to the bounds of good etiquette and making sure not to step out of line. She is not particularly trusting with people she does not know, so the same, cold and rigid professionalism remains with those who are not close to her. Basic kindness and politeness are there, but it does not go beyond that. But those whom she is close with do find that under this surface of cold professionalism, one can find a young lady with a love for learning about the universe around her. She is far more open with her friends, speaking her mind on personal issues, jokes around with them and shares deeper conversations with them a stranger would never be indulged in. Her friends have her complete trust and she continues to care for them in all matters, defending them if the situation calls for it.
Loralie is independent and decisive, who stands on her own and always takes responsibility for her own words and actions. She has a strategic mind and loves intellectual challenges, and takes initiative to always improve her knowledge. She is open-minded, always receptive of new ideas, especially if they are supported by logic and prove her own previous conceptions of something to be incorrect. She is sometimes described to be ‘deceivingly kind’. She can be courteous with people, but is completely aware when the other is trying to step on her toes. She can be judgemental at times, especially with first impressions, but is often quick to catch it and try to cut the behaviour at once.
Loralie tends to avoid fights, due to her lack in physical strength and skill in combat. However, sometimes her guards come down and she will use her sharp tongue and extensive vocabulary to her advantage in verbal bouts.

How to choose Fishing Canoe and Kayak
Fishing Canoe and Kayak Fishing is one of the most enjoyable and challenging hobbies of all time. Have you done fishing using your canoe or kayak? How was it? I really hope you enjoyed catching fishes whether you are in fresh or saltwater. But before everything else, I guess you are here to know the difference between canoe and kayak, right? Let’s dig into it. Fishing canoe and kayak are different from each other. There are different uses, components, functions, capacity, and capability. Fishing Canoe Canoes give more open space for storing rods and other fishing gears and equipment. The canoe has a single bladed paddle while the paddler kneels to move the boat forward. Fishing in the deep waters will give you more chances of winning- where most canoes are being used because it comes in handy. What to Look Out for When Choosing a Fishing Canoe Not all canoes can track well and easy to move and control. But there is no need to worry; I will give you the best canoes with a short guide to meet what you are looking for. Materials Since then, Canoe has been very popular to anglers and fishermen out there. Animal skins, driftwood and whale bones are what canoes are built from. One of the famous producers is the Old Town Canoes. The materials are stunning but most modern canoes are made from roto-molded plastic. Along with this material is the advantage of being durable and lightweight. It has a high- density of polyethylene which makes it thicker. Because of its durability, this could be your choice in choosing the best canoe. Stability The steadiness of the canoe must be present. The rocker and the width of the boat affect the canoe’s behavior in different water bodies. Try to find a flat base of a canoe as possible and have a minimal rocker to beat the waves in the lakes and rivers when paddling. To test the stability of your canoe, try to turn it upside down and lay your paddle across the hull width ways. If your canoe will have a hull parallel to your paddle and touching along its length, then your canoe has a good stability. Size Always consider the size of your canoe. Who do you want to go canoeing with? The seats and size of your canoe will vary depending on your choice. Storage Space Do not underestimate the capacity and storage space of a canoe. Most canoes have plenty of room that will be great for fishing. But it is up to you in choosing the best one. Accessories If you want to have rooms and space for accessories, choose a canoe that has adjustable seats, carry handles, dry storage compartments, and rod holders. This kind or canoe will give you comfort and ready for fishing. Best Fishing Canoes Are you ready to face the next step? Now, I’ll give you some of the best fishing canoes that will meet beyond your expectations and would suit every budget.
Old Town Canoes & Kayaks - Discovery 119 Solo Canoe A canoe that could occupy three persons is awesome. This canoe has a good storage space, weight and not a hassle with transporting to a larger canoe. Pros 11’9’’ and weighs 49 poundsLightweight and nimbleEasily paddled by a single riderMade of three layers of polyethyleneDurableThere are plenty of space for fishing gears, etc., Cons It is a little lowBring a cushion if you want to sit upright
2. Sun Dolphin Mackinaw Canoe This canoe is one of the best! Mackinaw is so attractive for its large size. You can go fishing with the other two people and it could stretch to a fourth seat on the hull. It has also accessories like molded trays, flush-mount rod holders, and cup holders. The center seat has a dry storage compartment, paddle stay, and cooler box. The polyethylene hull is resistant to UV damage to make the boat more durable. Pros Its length is 15’6’’Maximum capacity of 800 poundsSolid carry handles at the bowComfortable seatsTwo years of warranty Cons Slightly heavy Fishing Kayak Now, it is time to give you an idea what fishing kayak is. In a kayak, the paddler uses a double-bladed paddle pulling the blade through the water on opposite sides to move forward. What to Look Out for When Choosing Fishing Kayak Length and Width Did you know that the longer the kayak, the faster it will be? Yes, it is true. The wider kayaks, the more stable it is and can support more capacity. If your kayak is stable, you can stand and sight-cast to fish in the water. Weight Consider also the weight of your kayak. If your kayak is heavy it might need a wheeled cart to move it down and go fishing. Make sure to choose not that light and heavy kayak. Storage and Accessories You will need to know the gears and equipment you might bring during fishing. Seat Kayaks are now offering a lawn chair style seat which is incredibly adjustable that gives you an excellent back support. Best Fishing Kayaks
FeelFree Moken 12.5 The Feel Free Moken 12.5 is good for standing and fast to fish in a fresh and saltwater. Pros Quick release modular Uni-Track system and Easy Seal HatchIt launches nice and easyLength: 9’, width: 42 pounds195 pounds capacity

Pros It allows full power reverse propulsionLength: 12’1’’, width: 33’’It weighs 96 lbs.It has a maximum capacity of 400 lbs. Conclusion I’m sure you are all ready to choose the best kayak or canoe for you. I wish this guide helps you a lot. Enjoy fishing!

Isaiah Brevard | https://twitter.com/BrevardIsaiah/status/1223240917236232194
After signing an outstanding WR class in 2020, Kodi Burns is hoping to add at least 2 more talented wideouts to the mix in 2021.
Over the next 2 weeks 2-3ish week, we will be taking a position by position look at the top targets on Auburn’s 2021 board. This is a first pass at who might be looking at Auburn the hardest this early in the cycle and whom Auburn might have the most interest in. However, recruiting is fluid and these lists will likely change.
Under Gus Malzahn, Auburn has only once finished in the top 5 in SEC for passing yards per game. That happened in 2017. Yet despite the inconsistency of Auburn’s passing attack over the years, Kodi Burns was still able to go out and sign one of the top WR classes in the country last cycle. Now, he and the rest of Auburn’s staff can sell Chad Morris’s track record of producing explosive passing attacks. 7 wide receivers have surpassed the 1,000 yard mark under Morris and you can bet the Tigers will be showing a lot of DeAndre Hopkins, Sammy Watkins, Mike Williams and Courtland Sutton tape to recruits this cycle. If he can get similar results with Seth Williams, Anthony Schwartz and company this fall, it could be another strong WR haul this cycle
5* Jacorey Brooks | 6’3” | 185 lbs | Miami, FL
Recruitment
Auburn hosted Brooks briefly last summer and were expected to have him on campus this spring until the coronavirus wrecked everything. Still, Brooks is reportedly close with Kodi Burns and is giving the Tigers a close look. Unsurprisingly, the big 3 in the state of Florida (UF, FSU, UM) are expected to be major factors in Brooks’s recruitment along with Auburn, Alabama and LSU. This is a recruitment where visits being cancelled could really hurt the Tigers. However, if he decides to take his time and wait until later in the year to make a decision, Auburn could be a darkhorse contender in this race.
Scouting Report
247’s comp for Brooks is Courtland Sutton. I imagine Chad Morris might try and make use of that information... Brooks has the combination of size and explosiveness all teams covet at the WR position. While not necessarily a burner, he’s got enough speed to get on top of cornerbacks to make plays in the deep passing game or to take it to the house after the catch. Brooks is also a tremendous basketball player and that athleticism jumps out when watching his tape. He’s the prototypical 9 man in Malzahn/Morris’s scheme and would be a day 1 impact player for the Tigers.
4* Isaiah Brevard | 6’4” | 200 lbs | Southaven, MS
Recruitment
The 2021 class in the state of Mississippi is a little down this year though not so much at one position group. The top 3 players in the Magnolia State this year are wide receivers. Auburn has their eyes on one in particular in Isaiah Brevard. The Southaven standout visited Auburn in January and he put the Tigers in his top 3 alongside Georgia and Oregon earlier this year. Still, instate programs Ole Miss and Mississippi State cannot be discounted nor can longtime Mississippi raider Alabama. Look for the nation’s #119 player to officially visit the Plains whenever restrictions are lifted.
Scouting Report
You will be hard pressed to find a more physically imposing wideout in this 2021 class. Despite being 6’4” 200 lbs, Brevard is incredibly fluid in and out of his breaks making him a nightmare matchup on the outside. He does a great job using his size to box DBs out and get great position on jump balls. Brevard also takes blocking seriously, consistently playing until the end of the whistle to open up plays for his teammates. Hard not to like his tape.
4* Ketron Jackson | 6’2” | 186 lbs | Royse City, TX
Recruitment
It’s not just at quarterback where Chad Morris is using his Texas connections to try and bring in elite talent for the Tigers. Jackson has quickly become one of Auburn’s top targets at wide receiver but they will face some stiff competition in landing him. He actually named Arkansas his leader early last month but is also strongly considering Auburn, Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor and TCU.
Scouting Report
Jackson is a 2 sport athlete excelling on the track along with the football field. Those track skills translate nicely when he gets the ball in his hands. Jackson is a nightmare in the open field displaying outstanding short area quickness and elite speed. He’s got consistent hands and the length to make plays on the ball in the air. I think he’s got a chance to finish ranked in the top 100 before this cycle is over.
4* Julian Nixon | 6’4” | 205 lbs | Roswell, GA
Recruitment
Not too long ago, Nixon was my pick to be Auburn’s next commit. But this is recruiting and things change. The Georgia native appears to have slid down the board a bit for the Tigers since Chad Morris’s arrival. That’s not to say Nixon won’t end up in orange and blue in the end. However, as of today, it appears both sides are looking elsewhere. Tennessee might now be the team to keep an eye on.
Scouting Report
Nixon is another big WR prospect. At 6’4” 205 lbs, he ain’t losing many 1 on 1 confrontations on the outside. He’s a weapon in the redzone, excelling at using his size to get great position and flashing strong hands to make catches in traffic. Speed is a bit of a question mark which is why there are some who think he might grow into a tight end. Personally, I think he’s WR all the way and would be a good fit at the 5 position in Auburn’s offense.
4* Malcolm Johnson Jr. | 6’1” | 185 lbs | Alexandria, VA
Recruitment
Johnson had hoped to visit Auburn last week but obviously couldn’t make it down. He reportedly still wants to make it to campus which is a good sign for the Tigers. At this time, things seem pretty wide open for the Virginia native though he did recently drop a top 12 that included 8 SEC teams, one being Auburn. It’s all about when and if the Tigers can get Johnson on campus.
Scouting Report
Johnson is one of the most explosive playmakers in this class. His ability to get to top speed is impressive and once he finds some open field, there aren’t many defenders that can run him down. Johnson flashes consistent hands and is a very fluid route runner. The Tigers are looking for some speed at the WR spot so it’s easy to see why Johnson is so high on the board.
4* Christian Leary | 5’9” | 180 lbs | Orlando, FL
Recruitment
Leary recently dropped a top 6 that included the Tigers and told 247 that Auburn, Alabama and Arizona State have been showing him the most attention recently. He had set a commit date for early June but that is likely on hold now. Still, if there is a WR prospect that Auburn might be the closest to landing right now it’s probably Leary. Their biggest competition is likely rival Alabama who is attempting to sell the speedster on being the next Jaylen Waddle. This is definitely a name to track in the coming months.
Scouting Report
Based purely off confirmed times on the track, Christian Leary is the fastest prospect in the state of Florida in the 2021 class and one of the fastest athletes in the country. He posted a 10.5 in the 100 meters last spring. He did a little of everything for his high school team last season on their way to a state championship totaling over 1,500 yards of offense and 16 TDs. Leary has the skillset to impact a team not only on offense but on special teams as well. Auburn will likely need a new speedster following the 2020 season and would love for it to be Leary in 2021.
3*. Tray Curry | 6’4” | 210 lbs | Cleveland, TN
Recruitment
Back in early February, Curry told GoVols247 that his top two consisted of Auburn and Tennessee. He attended Auburn’s Junior Day on February 1st where he got to witness the Tigers’ basketball team’s takedown of the Kentucky Wildcats. But the Vols might be the team to beat in this race at the moment though Curry has said he plans to wait until after the season to make a decision.
Scouting Report
Another big bodied wideout, Curry is a big time down the field threat and the Tigers reportedly like his jump ball ability. While listed as a wideout, he could also flip over and play defense if needed which is something the Tigers seem to be doing more of in recent years. The spots are limited at WR in Auburn’s class this season so it will be interesting to see where Curry ends up on their board.
3* Roc Taylor | 6’3” | 212 lbs | Oxford, AL
Recruitment
Probably the player most impacted by the recruiting suspensions on this list is Oxford standout Roc Taylor. He’s high on the Tigers but has yet to receive an offer from Auburn. If that offer does come things could get very interesting in Taylor’s recruitment. This is where being able to camp for the Tigers could have been big for Taylor. Given the limited spots in this class for WRs, Auburn is understandably being cautious about offering instate kids who could commit quick.
Scouting Report
The big question mark with Taylor and possibly a reason Auburn has yet to extend an offer is the question over whether or not he’s a WR or a TE at the next level. 247 recently designated him an “athlete” but ranked him as a tight end. He’s a big kid with the frame to put on 15+ more lbs pretty easily at the next level. Despite his size though Taylor has surprising burst and can stretch defenses vertically. He’s got great length and does a great job using it to win jump balls. I would love for him to end up in Auburn’s class even if it’s as a hybrid WR/TE option.
Kanarius Johnson | 6’2” | 190 lbs | Laurel, MS
Recruitment
I mentioned earlier that Mississippi is loaded with talented WR prospects this cycle. One player though that hasn’t yet gotten the same type of hype as some of those other top players is Johnson. But his offer list is more than impressive enough featuring Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Penn State and a few others. He’s a prospect flying under the radar right now that could see his stock take off this fall.
Scouting Report
I love Johnson’s skillset. At 6’2” 190 lbs, he’s got great length paired with outstanding explosiveness. Fluid out of his breaks, Johnson can win with both with his route running ability and speed. Don’t be surprised to see him shoot up the rankings by the end of this cycle.

The smoke settles to reveal CHALUAY JETATIKARN, also known as CJ, a 26 year old yeti-blooded of Sunseong. They are an ex-children’s television personality who appears to be adept with enhanced strength, muscle mass enhancement, size enhancement, and inaudible movement --- but like most things in Sunseong, there must be more to them than meets the eye.
FACECLAIM: (Tina) Suppanad Jittaleela, actress
APPEARANCE:
(HUMAN) CJ is mostly human in appearance with the exception being their canines are notably pointed and slightly longer than most humans, and can extend into full on fangs when they are angered or engaged in a fight. Due to the slow speed at which Yeti age, CJ tends to look quite young despite being in their late twenties. Furthermore, the muscles beneath their skin tend to harden (like ice) when in motion or even just flexed a bit. It’s a pronounced enough feature that they’ve learned to side step others when walking or move to catch clumsy folks at arms length in an effort to keep the unsuspecting (read: humans) from running into their body like it’s an ice wall, and getting knocked unconscious.
(YETI) CJ can shift at will or accidentally when distressed into a tall erect furry, clawed and fanged giant “abominable snowman” being. However their fur grows almost continuously so long as they are out of range of cold climates. If not vigilant with daily clipping, they’ll grow a full on flowing silky dark brown fur pelt within a couple of days time (as the “undercoat” fur is also a natural health defense response to the higher heat found of non-mountainous regions).
BIOGRAPHY:
With icy mountains and fury in their eyes, and the shadow of a fur pelt covering flesh, they tore their career to shreds.
Fiction and reality collided on the busy sound stage that day. Even they don’t know why they did it, or what was the final crack that had caused it. But everything came crashing down all at once. It could have even been the way they could barely keep their eyes open in the make-up chair after pulling three weeks worth of multiple back-to-back “Green Tea & Biscuits” merchandising fan meet appearances for Lotte stores. Could have been the painful crooked row of half healing razor nicks on their legs that a lifetime of intense shaving had only made more tender. Maybe it was the way Manager wouldn’t take any their calls, wouldn’t come home even though they had IMed 119 so many times that day and yesterday night, that their thumb was now sore. Could more than likely have been the fact their credit card had been declined twice that day. Perhaps it was even the mean way some strange woman pretending to be a coordi lady had showed up in their dressing room and shoved an evil sickly yellow envelope in their hands with a hissed “you’ve been served”.
Or maybe…
Maybe.
They were just too damn hot…
There was no air. There was always not enough air, but on that day it was so much worse. The “sticky riceball” dance bit was a distant incoherent haze in their memory as the bright camera lights cooked them over done in sweltering quilted cotton and itchy stiff felt. They hated the “sticky riceball” dance bit. At twenty-six years of age they should not have to still sing about being a lonely brown rice ball waning to be be “friends” with toasted seaweed, when neither was even that tasty to begin with. They would have rather been singing about some real food. Why did no one dance about juicy chops or steak? On ice.
It was still too hot. Thinking of food made the heat even more unbearable. Suddenly they didn’t care. Not about Manager’s demands that they sing happily always–because–business. Smile. Be cute. Make the live audience kids laugh.
Manager wasn’t there.
There was no reason care.
They didn’t want to be “cute” anymore. Didn’t feel like being a “good” little trooper. They weren’t a trooper. They were too damn hot! They missed mountain slopes frosted over with cold and snow, where humans were far apart. Anger edged out duty and with spite in the flurry of their movements they snapped. They’d make their own cold. Somewhere things were shattered and claws marks appeared on the len of Camera A. Why did it feel so good? Tiny people running to, fro and screaming. So much screaming! They ran too, because finally getting to chase all little meaty things felt so good. Felt right! The screams almost sounded like music, the jagged red sad kind, which somehow fit since their vision was red and inside they been jagged and sad for a long time.
When it was over, they were alone but for the team of suits that had gathered. Poor thing. The suits could only do but so much. Manager had done so many things wrong, so many bad things and they were so young. It was a lot of money to bribe so many mouths to stay shut after an episode like that–but there was pity too. After all look what that scum had done to them? Seventy-five percent of all their earnings? No taxes paid ever?
It was decided stress had to be the deciding factor. Of course. Yes. Stress, mismanagement and definitely not something else. After all it was a kids show. They had never been anything but the most professional host before that day. Except now no one would ever trust their kid on the same stage with them ever again. They had threw a person into the audience (among other things), annihilated the set and everyone had seen. They had made all the kids cry. The suit thought it lucky if no one sued.
It was over. A punishment to fit the crime: never return to Seoul, never show their face on children’s broadcast again. It was the suits who suggested Sunseong, and since they know of nowhere better at the moment–Sunseong it would have to be.
CHARACTERIZATION:
“Manager” bought CJ from a Thai exotic animal smuggling outfit when they were a toddler and smuggled them into South Korea. Manager also trained them to be a child performer once they realized what they had was actual “halfway to human”.
–Before the “incident”, Chaluay, was very outgoing and friendly (playful even). As a children’s television host they had been trained right from childhood by Manager to be charming, engaging and “fun”. They’ve always followed the unwritten rule that all kids show hosts, must act excitable and zany, if not downright bonkers on air.
–Off-air CJ was never really “allowed” to be out of character either(which is why the “incident” has really damaged their self-confidence over all). They’re not even sure who they are anymore after a lifetime of being turned “on” for cameras and people mostly not over the age of seven.
–Children still remember CJ, and unless they wear a hat and shades in public they will usually attract a crowd of leg hugging preschool kids rather quickly (as “Green Tea & Biscuits” reruns are still currently in syndication and quite popular). Even elementary and middle schoolers (who don’t think they are “too cool”) still hit CJ up for selfies and autographs.
–The network censored delayed and then edited out CJ’s in-studio Yeti meltdown before it went live and promptly cut in old footage of cartoons and puppet skits to cover the parts full of studios destruction. The kids that were in the studio audience, Biscuit’s human suit actor and the child extras who played the “Tea Pals” on the sound stage that faithful day were paid off handsomely and slapped with gag orders to not talk about what happen with press.
–CJ feels really truly terrible about throwing and hurting the human actor in the “Biscuits” suit. “Biscuits” actor was the only human injured in the rampage, mostly cause they tried to talk CJ down from the shift and got in the way. The older actor and CJ had been long time partners right from the beginning of the show. He was the closest person CJ had to being a friend.
–CJ is still paying off an income tax evasion judgement, a breach of contract fines, property destruction fines, Biscuit’s suit actors medical bills, credit card debt–and all the other mess Manager left them with. Not to mention the slew of supernatural friendly lawyer fees and the ungodly large bribes it took to keep the meltdown from leaking into the press and keep CJ out of the radar of DSEM and The Aequitas Guild. The debt is significant enough that CJ will probably spend the rest of their life and future endorsement and/or licensing royalties to pay it all off.
SPECIALTIES:
Supernatural Strength RANK II. (40 points) CJ like a Yeti is glaringly, obviously super/unnaturally stronger than a human being. At the moment they are a “Type I” strength category and can hoist a maximum of about 18-20 tons (i.e 36000 lbs or 16329.3 kg), so roughly they can pretty easily flip a city metro or Type D yellow school bus over on its side.
Muscle Mass Enhancement RANK I. (20 points) CJ can increase the muscle mass (across their chest, arms, and legs) by flexing of their muscles and joints. It in essence allows their muscles to solidify with an ice like strength, stamina and durability.
Inaudible Movement RANK I. (20 points) Like their Yeti ancestors, CJ can strike or stalk with complete and absolute inhuman silence and speed, allowing them to move around, attack, hide or stand without disturbing most beings (humans in particular have a hard time following their movements).
Size Enhancement RANK I. (20 points) Full blood Yeti are recorded to possibly be between sizes of eight and 15 feet. A fully furred out CJ can shapeshift at will from a small 170 cm to much more Yeti like 214 cm.
Ice Generation RANK 0. (Innate ability, 0 points) CJ can reduce the kinetic energy of liquid atoms by concentrating on it, thereby lowering total substance temperature, and effectively making it colder, ranging from slightly chilly levels to slight crystallizing into frost. Mainly useful for making their own slushie drinks and cocktails.
Montane Adaptation RANK 0. (Innate ability, 0 points) CJ is able to thrive and adapt to very cold elevated conditions where the air is thin and the climate consists of frost or even blizzard like conditions, as they possess adjusted breathing capacity, high air-pressure tolerance, sub-zero immunity and an immunity to the effects of vertigo or similar disorientation as well as the ability to move on the mountains without artificial help. CJ is far more tolerant to the direct and indirect effects of scaling inhospitable high peak locations like Mt Fuji or even Mount Everest than humans or animals.
Temperate Fur Generation RANK 0. (Innate ability, 0 points) CJ generates dark brown fur over their entire body, giving resistance to high temperatures, and even some physical damage. They have almost no control over their fur as it is a natural camouflage and defensive response to environmental, emotional or external temperate stimuli.
Fangs/Claw Retraction RANK 0. (Innate ability, 0 points) Like CJ’s fur, fangs and claws are natural defensive usually triggered by adrenaline. Ancient Nyalmo Yeti are in most cases were carnivorous and predatory.
Enhanced Hearing RANK 0. (Innate ability, 0 points) CJ hears with amazing clarity, distance, and even frequencies outside normal range. A high predator species, Yetis can decipher layer upon layer of differing sounds/conversations, locate the source of noise and detect slight prey movements.
Night Vision RANK 0. (Innate ability, 0 points) CJ has excellent night vision, and that is a left over adaption from their cave dwelling heritage. It’s not quite as powerful as a full blood Yeti might have, but it’s leaps a bounds better than a humans. With that said their eyes do reflect back pin points of eerie blue light in the dark much like a cats might.

History of the Standard Chinchilla Rabbit
Chinchilla Rabbit History Around the World The first Chinchilla rabbits were created by a French engineer M.J. Dybowski and were shown for the first time in April 1913 at Saint-Maur, France.
M. J. Dybowski and his little Congo monkey
The new breed took the rabbit world by storm as the ideal fur rabbit, which so greatly resembled the South American Chinchilla lanigera, a rodent with thick, dense, velvet-like fur and a popular choice for the fashion industry.
Chinchilla Lanigera
A Mrs. Haidee Lacy-Hulbert of Mitcham Surrey, imported the first of the chinchilla rabbit breed to England in the summer of 1917.
A British exhibitor presented a shipment at the New York State Fair in 1919. After the show, he sold all the stock to Edward H. Stahl and Jack Harris.
Oneonta, New York State Fair Program & Guide Book 1919
The original Chinchillas were rather small at 5 to 7 1/2 pounds, and American breeders set out to produce a larger animal that would be better suited for meat and pelts.
The American Chinchilla rabbit is one of the few breeds that originated in the United States. However the breeding credit doesn’t go to just one breeder, but several. Each of which wanted to produce a larger bodied rabbit, than that of the Standard Chinchilla.
The Heavyweight Chinchilla Through selective breeding for larger size, fine bones, and a good dress-out percentage, a breed standard was issued for the Heavyweight Chinchilla. It was a larger form of the Standard Chinchilla – the same shape, colour, and general make up.
Renamed In 1924, both Chinchilla breeds were adopted into the standards book and shortly thereafter, the Heavyweight Chinchilla was renamed the American Chinchilla. The smaller, original Chinchilla rabbit was named the American Standard Chinchilla Rabbit.
ACRBA American Chinchilla Rabbit Breeders Association was formed in 1925 to promote the American Chinchilla Rabbit.
Between November 1928 and November 1929, no less than 17,328 Chinchillas were registered through the American Rabbit & Cavy Breeders Association (American Rabbit Breeders Association, Inc.) – a record that has yet to be broken.
Other Breed Development The Chinchilla rabbit has contributed to the development of more breeds and varieties of rabbit worldwide than any other breed of domestic rabbit. Sports from the Chinchilla have created the Silver Martens and American Sables in the United States, and the Siamese Sable and Sallander breeds abroad.
Rare & Endangered The American Chinchilla is now regarded by the ARBA to be the most rare of the Chinchilla breeds. Its small population is largely due to the demise of the rabbit fur industry of the late 1940’s. Despite the breed’s fine meat producing qualities, producers of today prefer an all white rabbit for the meat market.

Lifespan
Average lifespan of the Standard Chinchilla rabbit is 7 to 9 years but as with any of the domestic rabbit breeds, the age is dependent on their care and more importantly, their diet.
Personality
Temperament The Standard Chinchilla rabbit temperaments can differ between breeders depending on the parent breeds used to produce each line.
If you intend to buy a standard chinchilla rabbit, buy from a reputable breeder or rescue centre and observe the rabbit’s temperament also enquire as to any hereditary dental concerns.
Training Generally standard chinchillas are easy to train as they are very smart creatures. They can comprehend certain orders like come, and play, eat etc and will respond to their own name. They are also very easy to litter box train and for that reason make very good house rabbits and home companions.
Nature In most cases the standard chinchilla is friendly and have a very good, playful nature. Most are lively, sociable and gentle.
They are quite timid when you compare them with some of the other smaller breeds like the Netherland dwarf but with all rabbits giving them the right king of gentle attention, along with gentleness and understanding will help them gain your trust.
Standard chinchillas need experienced handling since they can easily be frightened and because of this, may become aggressive. For these reasons they are not generally recommended with children. More on building trust and correct handling.
NB – Although standard chinchillas are a small breed, they are active and very playful and for that reason, they will need plenty of space, more than that of a larger breed.

Rabbit Care & Handling
Grooming:
Get a FREE Complete Grooming guide with the New iRabbit READY program.
Top Tip The odd chunk of fresh pineapple in their diet, especially during shedding, is a great solution to possible hairball problems, as the acidic nature and other compounds in the pineapple helps to break down any hair that might be caught in the gut. (It acts a bit like drain unblocker!)
Teeth Like all rabbits, the standard chinchilla can develop dental problems and this breed may be more prone to dental disease than other breeds and have more risk of developing hairballs, leading to digestive problems, both of which can be potentially fatal conditions.
Their teeth should be checked regularly for signs of overgrowth and their diet should include fibrous vegetables that will help keep their teeth down. Enamel spurs and overgrown molars can prevent them from eating properly and can cause abscess injuries in the mouth so it’s vital that the teeth are kept in good order.
Weight Avoid overfeeding. An overweight bunny can find it difficult to groom themselves and if fur is allowed to become soiled with urine or faeces it can attract flies. These flies lay eggs in the fur and the maggots can burrow into the rabbit’s flesh, causing painful open wounds that will require veterinary attention.
Disease Vaccines All rabbits should be vaccinated against Viral Haemorrhagic Disease and Myxomatosis and should be treated regularly for fleas, ticks and worms. It’s also worth considering spaying any non-breeding females in order to prevent uterine cancer, which is common in all female rabbits.
Outdoors If your rabbit is going to live outdoors their house must be large enough for them to hop at least 3 decent sized hops (surprisingly this can be up to 6 foot for this breed) and be tall enough for them to stand upright on their hind legs. It should be completely weather and waterproof and positioned out of direct sun and wind. The hutch should have shavings and straw on the floor and should also provide a covered area where the rabbit can nest. The hutch must be cleaned out completely once a week and droppings must be taken out every day. A hutch or house should not be the ONLY area where they live.
Regardless of whether your rabbit is going to live indoors or outside, they should have access to a LARGE exercise area when they are at their most active – early morning and late evening. A very large run or secure area of garden will allow them the opportunity to stretch their legs and indulge in their love of exploration.
Indoors If they are to live inside, and standard chinchillas are very suited to indoor life, they can be easily taught how to use a litter tray. They must be provided with an area where they can retire to, hide away and relax completely.
A dog crate or indoor cage is ideal but if they are given free run of the house (like cats and dogs are afforded the luxury of, so why not rabbits?) then they will usually find their favourite place, usually under a bed or behind a sofa etc.
Just make sure all wires, cables and anything precious are out of the way and off the floor. Be aware that the rabbit could be near your feet, as they love being close to you, and take care not to step on them when you are moving around.
Diet This should include good quality hay, rabbit pellets and lots of fibrous green leaves and vegetables like kale, cabbage, carrot tops and dandelions with constant access to fresh, clean drinking water.
Handling It’s also worth making sure you know how to pick up and hold your rabbit correctly. Rabbits can struggle and panic if they’re held incorrectly. They’re stronger than they look and can injure their backs if they fall incorrectly or can give you a nasty scratch in their efforts to escape.

2018 Hyundai Accent Limited First Test: A Ho-Hum or Humdinger?
Small economy cars do not get much love nowadays, and it’s rare when one gets much hype—tell a friend or family member that you just bought a Fit, Fiesta, or Versa, and see what kind of reaction you get. Today’s subcompact sedans—which include the Nissan Versa, the Ford Fiesta, the Toyota Yaris iA, the Chevrolet Sonic, the Kia Rio, and the Mitsubishi Mirage G4—only take up a small percentage of the shrinking sedan market. The new 2018 Hyundai Accent enters this segment with a fresh redesign, but is it anything special, or is it just another ho-hum subcompact sedan?
The redesigned 2018 Hyundai Accent dropped its hatchback body style and now only comes in sedan form.
The 2018 Accent has been completely overhauled. The sedan now rides on a new platform with new technology. Outside, the new design adopts Hyundai’s latest styling language, contributing to a mini-Elantra look. It’s quite attractive and doesn’t look like a styleless bar of soap or have overly quirky styling like some subcompacts do. Inside, designers gave the Accent an interior you would normally find in a more expensive car; it doesn’t look like the basic rental car interior normally found at this price point. It’s nothing gleaming, but it’s a nice surprise for an entry-level car. Technology and features weren’t overlooked. A rearview camera and a 5.0-inch center touchscreen are now standard in the base SE trim, the midlevel SEL trim now gets a larger 7.0-inch center touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the top Limited trim receives heated front seats, automatic emergency braking, and a hands-free smart trunk that pops open when you stand behind the car for a few seconds with the key fob in your pocket.
Designers also gave the Accent more interior room, so much so that the EPA considers the Accent a compact car and not a subcompact for its size class, which is determined by passenger and cargo volume. Rivals such as the Ford Fiesta sedan and Toyota Yaris iA sedans are labeled subcompacts due to their smaller interior size. Other rivals, such as the very aged Nisan Versa sedan, the uncompetitive Mitsubishi Mirage G4, and the Chevrolet Sonic sedan, are also considered compact cars. Trunk cargo space is good for a small car; it measures in at 13.7 cubic feet, putting it above the Fiesta and Yaris iA sedans, but below the Sonic and Versa sedans.
During Motor Trend testing, the Accent accelerated to 60 mph in 9.3 seconds, on par with most subcompact sedans, and stopped from 60 mph in 119 feet, better than most rivals. Our road test team did not have any issues when launching or emergency braking the sedan. Where the Accent shows some separation from the rest of the small cars is on the figure-eight handling course with its time of 27.6 seconds and 0.60 average g. Nothing fast, but that makes it quicker than competitors in its segment and gives it one of the highest average g numbers, showing that the Accent handles well. Road test editor Chris Walton agreed after he flogged it around the figure eight. “For a compact economy car, this Accent is quite good on the figure eight,” he said. “The steering is talkative around the skidpad where it finds gentle but terminal understeer. The brakes are responsive, and there’s just enough power to keep it entertaining. I had to manually shift down to second for the skidpad, and it obeyed each time and made the downshift, unlike some others. The car is pleasant, entertaining in a surprising way.”
Out on the road, the 2018 Accent continues to be an enjoyable little sedan. Acceleration is adequate for around town, and braking feel and power is good. If you find yourself on a twisty road, don’t be afraid to push the subcompact a little, as it provides good grip and less body roll than you’d expect. But it’s still an economy car, so no Fast and Furious maneuvers, please. One of my personal complaints about most subcompacts is interior noise and ride comfort; sound deadening is usually kept to a minimum, and the combination of a short wheelbase, light weight, and lower-end suspension components usually makes for a rough ride. In other words, most subcompacts are loud and drive like they are flapping around everywhere. Considering its price point and segment, the Accent does a good job muffling out a lot of outside noise and ironed out road imperfections like a larger, more expensive car while driving on the firmer-riding 17-inch wheels versus the softer 15-inchers found on the two lower trims.
Like most economy cars, the Accent is fuel efficient with its 130-hp, 119 lb-ft 1.6-liter I-4 engine, which delivers an EPA-rated 28/38 mpg city/highway with the optional six-speed automatic transmission (not a CVT like many have in its segment). However, it’s not the most fuel efficient. The less powerful Versa, Yaris iA, and Honda Fit provide better fuel economy. The 2018 Accent offers the usual list of safety features you’d find in a small, entry-level car but adds one important one: automatic emergency braking, a feature not normally found at this price point. Forward Collision-avoidance Assist, as the automaker likes to call it, will warn the driver of a possible frontal collision before the system automatically applies the brakes if the driver fails to do so. Unfortunately, it’s only available in the top Limited trim, but at least it’s offered. This is one safety feature that should be available across all automakers’ lineups and not just the more expensive vehicles. At the time of this writing, the 2018 Accent has yet to be crash tested by the NHTSA or the IIHS.
Our 2018 Hyundai Accent Limited tester came standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, a power moonroof, foglights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, heated front seats, automatic headlights and climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a proximity key with a quick-entry system, push-start ignition, a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, hill-start assist, and a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with SiriusXM satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The only option was the $125 carpeted floormats. All of this for $19,905. That doesn’t sound bad at all until you look up the price for a base model of a more refined and larger compact sedan like the Honda Civic, though a Civic LX base model would lack the Accent Limited’s larger alloy wheels, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, moonroof, and active safety tech (available as an option on the LX).
The Accent’s hands-free smart trunk (standard on the Limited trim) works well. You simply stand behind the Accent when its locked with the key fob in your pocket, and the trunk automatically opens without making any kind of gestures in seconds. No need to swing or kick your leg when you’re holding bags like in many other applications.
If you are finding it hard to believe that a little Hyundai can be this good and offer so much, don’t. My fellow editors had great things to say about its Kia twin, the Rio, which shares the same platform and powertrain, at our 2018 Car of the Year testing. We were so impressed with the Rio that it became a finalist. “It might seem surprising to see a budget subcompact hatchback reach the finals in our Car of the Year competition,” we said. “But every one of our judges walked away from the Kia Rio impressed with how much car you get for well less than $20,000. After all, it’s a lot harder to build a great car for $20,000 than for $50,000. Angus MacKenzie might have summed it up best: ‘The Kia Rio is a worthy finalist. Not car of the year, but it’s a great value and a well-rounded small car.’” If the 2018 Accent competed, similar statements would have likely been said.
I do, however, have a couple of quibbles with the Accent, the first being the imprecise steering, an issue that still seems to haunt many Hyundai/Kia vehicles to this day. When driving on the highway or on normal roads, I found myself doing constant small steering corrections more often than I normally do. The imprecise steering seemed to make the sedan wander around in its lane more than I’ve felt in other vehicles over the same roads. Additionally, the interior does have plenty of hard plastics that can be easily marked everywhere, including all of the door panel armrests.
The 2018 Hyundai Accent is not ho-hum, but it’s not a humdinger, either. It’s a good-looking and competent small car that I can recommend—pending the crash test results. I’m sure others might find other complaints besides mine, but like senior production editor Zach Gale said, “Almost everything can be countered with, ‘But it’s a $19,905 car.’” With all the Accent has to offer, this sub-$20,000 car should make buyers who don’t need the space of a hatchback or crossover happy.

2. Hobie Mirage Outback The Hobie Mirage Outback has a stable platform for anglers and fishermen with its great design and comfortable seat.

2018 Lexus LS 500 First Test Review: Devil is In the Details
The Lexus LS has been taking it to the German triumvirate since the days when Audi was best-known for something it would rather forget. The first LS 400 changed the luxury dynamic with its unimpeachable quality and refinement, but the LS family has never quite achieved the cachet of some of its competitors. The outgoing model was no exception to that, still following the same formula of quality first and design second. This new 2018 Lexus LS, though, hopes to break the streak and shock the Germans, Americans, and now Koreans the way it did back in ’89.
Read a special feature on the 1991 Lexus LS 400 (and 1991 Acura NSX) right here
The heftiest arrow in its quiver is its unapologetic design. The Lexus “Spindle Grille” and its accompanying flourishes have been extremely polarizing, but there’s no denying sales have risen since the design language was introduced. This latest iteration is one of the best, we think, though perhaps we’re just getting used to it at this point. It’s not as good as the LC coupe it shares a platform with, but it’s less bad than the rest of the lineup.
The polarizing design carries over to the interior, as well. Once as conservative as the exterior, the LS’ new seating gallery is unmistakably Lexus. The door panels, in particular, caught our eye with their visually stimulating curves, layers, and use of materials. Likewise, we found the stitched leather surrounding the individual gauges a fresh and appealing touch and the semihidden vents integrated into the horizontal trim a neat execution. We were far less enamored with the hotel hallway art on the passenger’s side of the dash and the two handle bars hanging off the instrument binnacle.
Those knobs, controlling driving mode and stability control, are a good jumping off point for a discussion of the electronics package. On the whole, it’s a suite of good ideas with questionable execution.
Our greatest ire rests, as always, with the infotainment system and its track-pad controller. Although we appreciate the large screen, it’s only become more layered with menus and harder to navigate. At the same time, ever more functions have been buried there for you to find. As but one example, the seat heating and cooling controls are now beneath two menus. Turning either on starts with pushing the button with the picture of a seat or swiping several times over to the seat controls menu and clicking the pad. Once the seat menu is up, you must swipe down several times to get to the heating and cooling controls and click on them. Then you can swipe over to the controls for the seat you want and swipe up or down several times to get the level of heating or cooling you want. This is madness. Lexus would prefer you simply set your preferences in the system to have the heater or cooler come on when you start the car at given external temperatures, assuming you want the exact same experience every time you get in the car.
What’s truly infuriating about the infotainment system, though, is that Lexus knows better. We know this because our test car was equipped with the Luxury Package, which includes power reclining executive rear seats controlled by a touchscreen integrated into the center armrest. This screen is as intuitively laid out and easy to use—the main screen up front isn’t. Why, Lexus?
Other examples of questionable technological implementation abound. The enormous head-up display (HUD) is a great party trick, but why is your speed, the most useful piece of information, shoved way off to the side while the lane keeping system gets center billing? Why does it stay over there out of your direct line of sight even when lane keeping is turned off? The HUD also displays a frontal cross traffic alert so you don’t pull out in front of a car crossing your path. It’s a nice idea if you’re pulling out of an alley, but when you’re sitting at a stoplight and it’s going off constantly and taking over the entire HUD with flashing yellow arrows, the only information you want is how to turn it off. Finally, we must ask why the dash beeps at you when the car is in reverse. This isn’t a commercial vehicle.
It’s certainly not all bad, though. We found the adaptive cruise control and lane keeping systems to work well and ease long drives. The rear seat control screen is, as noted, very well executed. Those seats themselves are very comfortable and offer a very serene chauffeur experience. The front passenger’s seat folds up and moves all the way against the dash to give the passenger behind an enormous amount of space to stretch out, and it doesn’t block the passenger door mirror in the process.
It’s less optimal for the person sitting behind the driver. Although the new LS is even longer than the old long-wheelbase model, there’s still a disappointing amount of rear legroom with the front seats in their normal location. While the captain of industry on the passenger’s side can get the front seat out of the way, the spouse or business partner or whomever on the driver’s side will find it surprisingly small for such a big luxury car.
Still, it’s far from a bad place to spend a ride. The leather is sumptuous and the environment supremely quiet and relaxing. The Mark Levinson stereo is as velvety on the ears as anything coming out of Germany, and the car’s build quality is as impeccable as always. Our only suggestion on the luxury front would be to opt for the smaller 19-inch wheels rather than the 20s our car is rolling on. The heavier shoes with skinny run-flat tires undo some of the optional air suspension’s hard work rolling hard over road imperfections and introducing an unwarranted brittleness to the ride quality.
The new LS otherwise drives and rides as effortlessly as you’d expect from a flagship luxury sedan. Large road deformities are dispatched easily, and yet the car handles as well as you’d expect of one this size. It’s tighter and more responsive than the outgoing car but with no obvious sacrifice to ride quality. We would prefer more responsive throttle and brake pedals, but their softness suits the car and doesn’t hurt measurable performance.
Indeed, the new LS very much keeps the promise of a quicker and yet more efficient car, thanks to its new 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 and 10-speed automatic. The downsized mill returns a potent 416 hp and 442 lb-ft to the old, naturally aspirated 4.6-liter V-8’s 386 hp and 367 lb-ft while improving fuel economy from 16 mpg city and 24 mpg highway to 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.
The new powertrain similarly outperforms on a test track, needing 5.3 seconds to reach 60 mph from a stop, down from 5.6 seconds for the V-8. Stopping from that speed has likewise been reduced from 119 feet to 109-113 in the three cars we tested. Although drag racing is hardly a luxury sedan’s MO, those curious will be happy to learn the LS’ quarter-mile time has dropped from 14.1 seconds to 13.7, and trap speed has increased from 101.5 mph to 103.0. Some of this is attributable to our test car being equipped with all-wheel drive and the last V-8 LS 460 we tested utilizing rear-wheel drive, namely the initial launch, but not all. When we tested a rear-drive 2018 LS 500, that car completed the quarter-mile in 13.8 seconds at 102.8 mph.
Improvements to the handling are also more than subjective—the new LS out-grips the old car, too. Skidpad grip has increased from 0.82 average g to 0.85-0.86 among the three LS cars we tested, and figure-eight performance has improved from 27.2 seconds at 0.68 average g to 25.7 seconds at 0.73 average g (the rear-drive model was good for a 26.3-second time at 0.71 average g). The all-wheel drive helps some, but it’s prone to understeer at the limit and must be managed for a quick lap.
At the end, we return the new LS encouraged by its big leap forward in luxury and equally frustrated by its shortcomings. The car is a huge step forward from its conservative, long in the tooth predecessor. It’s properly equipped to take on the world’s best luxury sedans. At the same time, though, it’s let down by technology that’s more stressful than helpful and a comparative dearth of space. We like the new LS almost as much as we like what it has the potential to be, and we hope this time there will be continual improvement to get it there.

3 Carry-On Travel Backpacks Under $150
Choosing the right backpack is one of the most important decisions you’ll have to make. If it’s too small, you won’t have enough space to fit your gear, but if it’s too big, you’ll be carrying around extra weight. Is it a front- or top- loader? Does it have a laptop sleeve and is it made of water-resistant material? These are just a few of the many factors you’ll want to consider when shopping for your next backpack. Some travelers prioritize comfort, while others seek out a bag with easy-to-organize pockets. Maybe you’re an extreme budget traveler who’s only concerned with the price tag. To help narrow it down from the thousands of options out there, here are three of my favorite backpacks, perfect for each of these types of travelers — all of which are carry-on size and under $150.
1. For the Urban Traveler Who Loves Comfort: The Tortuga Travel Backpack
I’ve traveled to more than 30 countries with this backpack and my neck and shoulders haven’t complained once — it’s got a padded hip belt that transfers 80% of the bag’s weight from your shoulders to your hips and you’ll notice the difference especially when you’re lugging around heavy gear for several hours at a time. The shoulder straps offer additional thick padding, which makes for a smoother transition whenever you’re slinging a loaded bag on your back. My favorite feature is the padded laptop sleeve because it offers excellent protection and creates a cushioned barrier for my back. This compact bag weighs in at 3.65 lbs with a capacity to hold 44 liters. The Tortuga brand prides itself in being a maximum-sized carry-on backpack that, like a suitcase, loads from the front. It’s made of 100% nylon and only comes in black. I recommend this bag for the urban traveler who puts comfort first. Tortuga just released its brand new Outbreaker model for $249 but you can also find the original Tortuga Travel Backpack for $149 on Amazon.

2. For the Super-Organized Traveler: EBags’ TLS Mother Lode Weekender Convertible
This is one of my favorite carry-on backpacks for many reasons: it has an ultra-sleek design with easy-to-organize compartments for your laptop and personal items, it holds up to 54 liters of your favorite travel gear and is also equipped with a full-expansion zipper that adds more than 10% more packing space. You’ll instantly fall in love with this bag once you see the number of compartments there are — it’s kind of like traveling with a lightweight dresser on your back. The backpack’s zippered mesh panel also makes it easy to keep your dirty clothes separate from your clean ones and you can store your phone charger, sunglasses and smaller gadgets for quick and easy access. I recommend this backpack for the budget traveler who wants to keep all their small accessories organized on the go. You can find it priced at $119 directly through eBags or on Amazon for about $101. It comes in six different colors, weighs only 3 lbs. 15 oz. and is guaranteed for life under the eBags lifetime warranty.

3. For the Utility Traveler: The Osprey Porter 46
This pack is built for travelers looking to combine all the best features into one ultimate bag. Its size, weight, shape, design and attractive price point make this an ideal choice for backpackers who want a little bit of everything. My favorite feature is how quick and easy it is to tuck away the straps and convert it from a backpack to a duffel bag. It’s designed with a front panel pocket, lockable zippers and separate padded sleeves for your laptop and tablet. You’ll find it effortless to grab your gear from its well-designed chambers, like the zippered top pocket, which allows for easy access to your toiletries. The bag has the capacity to hold 46 liters and features a safety whistle that’s built directly into the chest belt. The shoulder straps are comfortable enough for all-purpose travel while the suspension helps to balance out loads of any size. I recommend this backpack for any travelers planning to encounter all types of environments without needing to invest in multiple bags. You can find the Osprey Porter 46 backpack on REI’s website for $130 with free shipping.
