My Dork - Colby Brock
Sam and Colby invite you and Jake to explore a recently abandoned hospital with them and things don’t go according to plan.

--------------------------------------------------
“This is the Saint Luke’s Medical Hospital,” Sam announced as he zoomed in on the large building ahead of you four. You were slightly freaked out by the number of signs telling you that there was a guard dog around that you should beware of, but the boys did not seem to care that much.
“Look, there’s a big fat boob on the top,” Jake whispered to the camera as he pointed to the brown dome shape that sat at the top of the building that also had a small cone on top of that, resulting in a breast shape.
“There’s a big fat boob right here,” Colby giggled as he pointed to your chest. Your eyes widened and you stifled a laugh. You two made those kinds of jokes all the time, but he has never done it on camera.
“Colby!” you shouted before chuckling at the joke. The other two boys laughed as well before continuing to walk forward.
“You’re supposed to honk ‘em, right?” Jake asked as he made grabby hands, still going along with the boob joke. He then made a car honking noise with his mouth, causing you three to burst out in laughter.
“Yes, Jake. Go do that. Your goal today is to get to the top and honk that boobie,” Sam influence his friend before Jake ran ahead and he made grabby hands towards the building.
“How do we explain that to security if we get caught? Like what were you doing in here? We’re trying to honk boobies,” Colby joked as you rolled your eyes, realizing you were stuck to explore this hospital with three immature idiots. A noise caught you all off guard and you looked to Colby as he looked off at the building.
“That’s the dog,” Sam mumbled, looking in the same direction as Colby. You walked forward with the group to see the dog that sat behind the glass-paneled door. The dog barked with each step you guys got closer. You, Jake, and Sam backed away, but Colby’s dog-loving heart got closer to talk to it.
“We’re gonna come explore this hospital, okay? And we’re just going to look around for a second, alright? And then, we’re gonna leave, okay?” he told the pup in his talking to animals voice.
“Wait, dude, if there’s a dog right there, that means there’s a person right next to it,” Sam warned.
“There’s just a guy just listening to me say ‘We’re just going to explore this hospital’,” Colby laughed at the thought as he walked away from the dog. You all went around the building to find the door that y’all saw earlier when checking the perimeter of the place. There was a door that was wide open, so you all figured that would be the best way to enter. Once you guys arrived at the door, Colby peeked his head in and began making kissy noises.
“What are you doing?” Sam asked his best friend.
“I’m just making sure the dog knows that we’re coming in,” he spoke with a giggle. “Dude, wait. This is the part where we decide right now, do we wanna get bit by a dog or do we wanna be safe?”
“Did you bring the meat?” Sam asked Jake and Colby before the two pointed at each other.
“Colby’s got a fat ass. Bro, that dog has food for days. Ain’t that right, y/n?” Jake asked you as you nodded your head confidently.
“Why do I always have to go first?” Colby whined before grabbing the camera from Sam and walking forward. When he walked in the door, you all heard a click. You all walked away from the door to discuss the noise before deciding to go back.
“Dude, the click was because this door is automatic,” you told them when Sam went in and waved his hand near the door.
“Yeah, that’s it,” Sam said as he popped back out. “But it smells really bad. We should put on our masks in here.”
Colby handed you and Jake each a mask from Sam’s backpack before you put on the infamous black mask. Now, it was finally time to go in. Sam led the pack as he filmed, you and Colby followed with joined hands, and Jake was the caboose as he looked around at everything.
“You look adorable in your mask,” Colby bent down to whisper.
“You can only see my eyes, you asshole,” you giggled.
“Yeah, but I love your eyes.” You batted your eyelashes at the compliment before maintaining your focus ahead of you once more. Y’all made it to some stairs and made sure to take light and slow steps to lessen the risk of noise so the dog won’t find you. Once up the stairs, you went through a door that was already cracked open.
As you walked down the hallway with the guys, you realized how cool it was that you were doing. You had explored plenty of abandoned places with Colby, but they were all run down and broken and dirty. This place, however, still had running lights and literally felt like you were in a running hospital that had zero people in it.
You guys roamed the halls slowly as you tried to stay quiet. Eventually, you reached what looked like the hall where the patients lived. Everything was dead silent before Jake dropped something and it landed with a loud thud that bounced off the walls for anyone in the building to hear.
“Jake!” you whisper shouted.
“Sorry,” he mumbled, and you all moved to leave the room, not before he ran into something else and caused a ruckus. He muttered another apology and y’all left the room.
“Listen, we’re gonna fucking die. We’re gonna fucking die if y’all don’t stop making fucking noise. Okay?” Colby whispered to Sam who was filming him. You let out a small giggle before Jake spoke.
“It was my fault. I’m sorry.” Moments later, he made yet another noise while shutting a door behind him. Sam and Jake split off one way down the hall while you and Colby went the other.
“Yo, look at this,” Colby whispered when he knelt down to grab a sign that was laying on the floor. He turned around before showing it to you. It was a sign that told you which way the surgery recovery unit was and the stroke specialist unit too. “Should I keep this?”
“I don’t see why not.” He did a small happy dance and kissed you on the cheek before walking back to Sam and Jake.
Next, y’all found the best part of the building. It still had chairs and beds and literally looked like an actual hospital. You found the waiting area where the room was lined with red chairs. The next room over had some beds in it, but that was it. The last room in the hall looked the best. It had beds, counters, cabinets, an overhead light that you could move around, but you guys couldn’t stay long because a whistle was heard. So quickly, you four took a thumbnail picture before trying to leave. Of course, the boys got sidetracked when they saw a microphone that was linked to a speaker system.
“Sir, your penis appointment is scheduled,” Jake whispered into the mic before Colby went next.
“Could we have Larry with the case of gonorrhea come to the front office please. Thank you.”
Then, they realized it was time to go. Y’all speed-walked the way you came, but when you guys reached a door, Colby accidentally pushed the handle and an alarm sounded went off.
“Oh, shit. Shit. Shit. Shit,” Sam mumbled as speed walking turned into running. You four ran down the stairs and out of the building. Y’all walked slowly for a second to catch your breath and then took off again for the car. You threw open the back door and slipped in, leaving the door open so Jake could get in too. Colby placed the surgery sign next to you and got in the front. Right as Colby drove off, a police car passed by and turned into the hospital.
“That was crazy,” you stated as your breathing finally calmed down.
“I kinda wanna explore more of it next time,” Jake told Sam. You looked at him with wide eyes. The one who caused most of the noise wanted to go back. He may not have tripped the alarm this time, but if there was going to be a next time, he definitely would be the one to do it. “I feel like we should do a part two.”
“I feel like we should do a part two to that,” Sam agreed as he looked to Colby. Jake and Sam kept encouraging the idea before Colby spoke up.
“Yo, I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“You don’t think that’s a good idea?” Sam questioned.
“No, we just barely got out of there.” Colby continued.
“And Jake can’t stay quiet to save his life,” you added before Jake gasped.
“Hey!”
“It’s true,” you told him with a smile.
“What if we bring dog treats?” Sam suggested.
“For the police? Because the dog wasn’t coming for us. It was the police,” you said to them.
“Okay, let’s think reasonably here,” Colby told Jake and Sam.
“What if we did? Like what if we got dog treats?” Jake imagined.
“No,” Colby protested.
“Do you think they’re trained not to care about anything?” Sam asked.
“Yes!” Colby said with enthusiasm. You rolled your eyes in the backseat. Sam was supposed to be the smart one, but right now, he wasn’t really showing that. “Okay, you really think a dog is gonna see you and start charging at you and you’re like ‘Hey, here’s a treat. Go get it,’ and it’s just gonna go. Like, come on now.”
“That stuff only happens in cartoons, Sam,” you told the blond.
“Alright, eighty-five thousand likes and we’ll do it,” he said to the camera as he completely ignored what you and Colby had said which you two gave up and nodded along.
Later on when you all came back to the trap house, you and Colby laid in bed to think about what had happened.
“That was crazy,” you started as your head hit his chest.
“I can’t believe they thought we just needed some dog treats, and it would all be better.”
“I can believe that Jake would think that, but I thought Sam was smarter than that.” You both laughed before silence fell over you two.
“But that place was really cool and pretty. Thanks for taking me,” you whispered.
“You’re really cool and pretty,” Colby added in.
“You are such a dork,” you giggled before kissing his lips.
“I’m your dork though.”
“Yes, you are my dork.”

What about shance, your choice of platonic or not, where lance collapses from exhaustion or fever on a mission, and shiro feeling guilty for not noticing sooner?
Opted for shance because I'm trash, leave me here to die.
---
"Lance, please keep up," Shiro hisses over his shoulder. "We have a long walk ahead of us but it shouldn't be much further now."
Lance huffs. He was stupid to think that Shiro would go easy on him just because they were together. But Shiro never has--he goes just as hard on him as he does the others during their training sessions, pushes him as he always does while they're sparring, and nags almost more than his mother if they both end up being awake too late. Lance just wants a breather, or water, or a nap, but Shiro's hand pressed in his own only proceeds to tug him forward as they trudge through knee-deep sludge.
This planet is disgusting. It's so hot even their suits don't seem to have the capability to cool him down fast enough, and the sweat rolling down the neck of Lance's bodysuit makes him cringe. They're trying to find a supposedly-abandoned base to get a family heirloom and power source belonging to the people, but the more Lance walks, the less he wants to. Everything is warm and uncomfortable, and he just wants to go back to the castleship.
"I'm trying... Just hard to walk in this sludge," he murmurs.
Shiro sighs, but his hand grips Lance's tighter and his pace slows a little. "The faster we get through this, the faster we can get back. Please, just bear with it, okay?"
Lance frowns. He doesn't want to hold back the mission, but he doesn't like that exasperated tone Shiro has with him. He knows Shiro doesn't mean anything personally by it, that he's merely irritated with the mission itself, probably also from the heat, but Lance can't help but sulk at having it directed at him. He doesn't like being on the receiving end of that unpleasant tone. So he nods and stays silent. A deep breath to calm himself, and he stresses on his legs to pick up the pace. There's silence for a few long minutes afterward, and after perhaps an hour of trudging and searching Allura chimes in through their helmets.
They're very close, which is good. Their path goes right, and soon the walk leads them up to more solid ground, no more dark sludge. Lance's legs feel heavy and almost waterlogged, as if he still can't pull them as fast despite the lack of a resistance against them. Shiro lets his hand go instead, and the two continue moving forward.
"Not far now." Then, after a pause, "Lance, you hanging in over there? You've been quiet."
Lance looks over, giving Shiro a tight-lipped smile. "Just focusing is all." He ignores Shiro's look of surprise and turns away, focusing more on the strange structure he sees protruding from the ground. It looks almost like a generic-colored office building tilted at an angle, windows and all. It's strange.
"I think we found it, Shiro," Lance says.
Shiro nods, and his hand gently rests on Lance's shoulder. "Alright, brace yourself."
Easier said than done, for certain. The offending heat just seems worse, and Lance feels lightheaded. But they have a mission; he focuses on that instead. His hand reaches for his bayard, summoning it into its weapon form immediately, but he holds it angled down to his side as they approach closer. Allura tells them that the castle doesn't read any signs of life but warns for them to be careful anyway. There's also a chance of boobie traps or bombs.
"And how are we supposed to find that out?" Lance whines. "Just shooting at weird stuff until something explodes?"
Shiro looks over his shoulder, very unamused.
"Sorry, cap'n."
They move on in, carefully looking for wires or trap doors or both. As they trudge in through a dark passageway, Shiro takes the lead, leaving Lance to stay right behind him. Lance notices it just feels stranger in there, almost foggy. Like something's gotten into his suit.
"Shiro... you feel that?" he asks.
Shiro turns to look at him. "Feel what?"
Lance falters for a moment, then shakes his head. It's just him, it seems; lost and messy. It's irritating. "Never mind, it's nothing. Think we're close?"
The pause has Shiro hesitating for a moment, but he dismisses it at Lance's question. He can interrogate Lance's behavior later, but for now, they have the misson. Shiro's answer is swallowed by a door, which catches them both by surprise. Lance tilts to the side to look over Shiro's shoulder, but finds himself clinging to him to avoid from falling over. Shiro just sighs, bracing himself while he waits for Lance to let go.
"I guess we'll find out."
Lance nods--and he regrets it. He feels so lightheaded from the heat, it's almost insane. What kind of planet was this? Why didn't Shiro look bothered at all, or not even a little bit sweaty? As Shiro reaches for the door to push it open, Lance lifts the bayard in preparation. And... nothing, yet again. Something is too strange about this room, to pristine.
"I've got a bad feeling about this..."
Shiro hushes him, but the two make their way inside. Whatever could go wrong, they could fight. They spot a small box on a pedastal towards the back end of the room, and Allura alerts them that they've found the heirloom for the royal family. Now they just needed to get it safely back. Shiro's hands reach for the device--but just as he does, Lance's eyes catch a glimpse of something metal near the base.
"Quiznak, watch out!"
Lance tugs Shiro back, and the pedastal explodes the moment Shiro's hand moves the box out of place.
---
Their suits catch the brunt of the explosion but that doesn't mean it's painless. Shiro groans as he pushes away a piece of rubble from his chest, sitting up carefully. His chest feels sore and he's sure he bruised his entire torso, but that's the least of his worries.
He's quick to glance around, trying to scan through the debris. "Lance? Lance, are you okay?!"
Lance doesn't respond immediately, and Shiro almost panics. He forces himself to his feet, ignoring the tight pull in his leg--probably bruised that too from the caved in wall--and turns to where Lance had last been, or where he thought he might have been. A few seconds pass filled with calling his name, ignoring as Allura and the other paladins shout out wondering what happened, before Lance groans.
"Kinda thinking," Lance's voice pipes in, and Shiro sees a piece of the wall get shoved to the side; he runs over. "Maybe... maybe blind shooting would've been better after all."
"Lance!" Shiro runs over, helping to push some more pieces to the side in order to help Lance sit up, and he's just greeted with a tired smile.
"Hey, babe."
Shiro doesn't stop himself; he just pulls Lance into a hug, holding him firmly to his chest. Lance tenses--and Shiro pauses. "Are you hurt?"
Lance's smile is easy and soft as he shakes his head. "Nah, probably just a bruise. But uh... can we just get the thingy and get out of here?"
That has Shiro nodding. The faster they can grab it, the faster they can get out; and hopefully with no more bombs. Shiro helps Lance to his feet, then moves to where the box has been tossed. It's durable, not a single scratch from the explosion, and he manages to dust the soot off easily. He grabs it, then grabs for Lance's hand and begins to pull him away.
"Come on, Lance, let's get out of here."
"Mm..."
Shiro doesn't respond to the noise, merely tightening his grip against Lance's. He feels Lance's hand squeeze at his, but only a few steps in pass before the grip loosens. Shiro glances over his shoulder, tugging the hand harder--only to watch Lance actually wilt before him. Lance's eyes flutter closed and his knees buckle, and for a split moment, Shiro's taken back to one of their earliest days of Voltron, of an unconscious Lance lying bloodied and burned before him--and he freaks out. What has he done?!
He pulls Lance over his shoulder in a fireman carry, moving the small box to that same hand to give himself a free arm. And with that, he taps his helmet.
"Allura, do you copy? Something's happened to Lance, we're hurrying out of here."
---
"And a concussion? What's he going for, the Bad Luck Awards? Quiznak!"
Pidge, Lance can tell. Not exactly the voice he'd been hoping for, but a familiar and nice one nonetheless.
"Language, Pidge."
Ah, there's the voice he'd been hoping for. Lance's lips curl in a small smile as he tilts his head back--and winces; the move shoots a pain from the base of his neck all the way through his back. Even his limbs feel sore and aching. Two hands place themselves on the sides of his face to steady his head.
"Be still, Lance."
"Ugh, you two aren't about to be all gross now, are you?" comes Pidge's voice of disdain.
Shiro chuckles softly, though he moves a hand from the side of Lance's face and strokes his hair gently. "Hey, Lance. Good to see you're awake. How're you feeling?"
"Like I'm in heaven," Lance croaks; his voice is raw and rough, but still holds that flirty edge. "I'm talkin' to my angel."
"Ugh. I'm gonna alert Allura."
Lance manages to blink his eyes just to catch sight of Pidge leaning over him before she runs off. The room seems mostly empty, just Shiro leaning over him from what his vision focuses on, and he makes a kissy face. Shiro leans down, but the kiss ends up on his forehead instead. Well... not as bad.
"You're really sick, buddy. I didn't notice, I--"
"I'm sorry."
Both pause at Lance's interruption. The boy looks at him, but  quickly turns his head away to give out a weak cough. Shiro helps roll him to his side, then eases him back once the fit subsides. "I should've-- told you, or something."
Shiro shakes his head. "I should have noticed. I just thought you were just trying to be your goofy self. I should have realized something was wrong."
Lance just frowns at him, reaching a hand to touch Shiro's cheek. "That's dumb. Shiro... you're not a fortune teller. You can't just magically know this stuff. But... you saved me. Thanks. I owe ya."
Shiro has to laugh. He just ruffles Lance's hair, shaking his head. "Get some rest, okay? I'll be right here."
