Ok- ok, we’ve all seen the trope where something is ‘eerily off with Ghost’ right? BUT, hear me out on this, something is eerily off with Soap.

Maybe it’s the way sometimes his smile is too big.

Maybe it’s the way his eyes seem to also glow in the dark with just how blue they are.

Maybe it’s the way he seems to always be one step ahead of everyone else in a way that no human should.

Maybe it’s because he’s walked off multiple injuries that should have landed him in medical. Instead when he gets checked out, there’s nothing wrong with him.

And always, soap will walk off with that knowing smile with teeth that are just a tad bit too sharp.

Better look at the resident of Alagadda from the last post - three facets of one consciousness: Polythroos, Psalmos and Polykais. The meaning of the names is under the spoiler.

Polythroos - "with many faces/the one who can make a lot of sounds", the human part of the left head Polykais - the right head, "Bright and flaming" Psalmos - the beast part of the left head, "Song of the Lyre".

All words are Old Greek. The three facets help each other to better tolerate both dangerous situations and social interactions. Psalmos is the one who decorated their half of the body with bracelets and an earring. This creature is much smaller than its fellows, although much larger than a human, and much lighter than they look. They can crawl on the ceiling 🕷🕸

Thinking of how people, when asked if truly sapient AI should have rights, said that ‘they are tools’, ‘they were made to serve us, not themselves’, and many MANY variations of ‘why would we give them rights? They are LESSER than us.’ I even saw one person on a forum write: ‘It’d be stupid to give rights to a machine. Imagine if your chess-playing robot doesn’t want to play chess anymore, or wants to be paid for its work.’

Thinking of how the question of whether the sapient SCPs should have rights would have likely gone the exact same way. The ‘anomalies’ are deemed as less than human, and because they have little to no power over the Foundation, they can’t do anything to change that. In the eyes of the almighty O5, they are tools, slaves, livestock to be used and used and used until they can’t handle it anymore and lash out. Then, the Foundation would point to their behaviours, the aggression and violence driven by fear, frustration and hopelessness, the pain that they caused these sapient beings, and claim that this is the exact reason why the SCPs don’t have rights.

1. What got you into this story?

I think I just picked it up at the library sometime in my preteens—my parents were never too into it (they weren’t against it or anything, they’re just not big fantasy people), so it was really something I discovered and got into on my own.

Heroic boarding school religion-inspired magical hidden world fantasy. (You can fight me on the religion-inspired bit.)

The reason that Uncle Vernon in particular has so much hatred towards James is because James made fun of his car one time. (James told Lily that he would apologize, but they passed away before he could do that.)

Another fun fact: the Department of Mysteries actually predates the Ministry of Magic.

17. Compare this story to your usual tastes. How does it differ from what you’ve already enjoyed?

For better or for worse, romance is usually a big factor in what draws me to a story, but Harry Potter is an exception—while there are certainly romances that I like in it (Remadora I LOVE YOU), they definitely aren’t what I truly love about this story.
