Being a writer without visual artistic ability is wishing you could just draw your characters yourself because no pinterest board or personality test can ever truly replicate how you see them in your mind

just when i think i've cleaned up the plot of my novel, some other plot hole randomly appears, whole scenes turn into useless nonsense, and i realise i haven't mentioned anything in the first half about a key factor that would assist in the entire resolution, making it seem not only implausible, but frivolous and nonsensical!

haven't touched my WIP in a couple days...i hope my characters are doing alright

the feeling as a writer going into a bookstore and having a little voice inside your head say "one day, your name is going to be on one of these shelves." >>>>>>>

how do i tell my brain that it’s not the time to fix every tiny little thing of my WIP. that is a job for later. right now, i’d rather not worry about the uses of semicolons when my characters are one-dimensional and my magic system makes no sense!

A week. That’s all I’m giving myself. A week from now, my WIP will no longer be a WIP and will just be a W.

how it feels to want to write so badly but no matter what, nothing happens

i think i need to sit in high school exam conditions again. maybe then will i actually make progress on my novel.

having to kill the character you created to be the sacrifice but now you've gotten attached

one part of writing has always been the hardest for me. a strong plot? no. deep character relationships and goals? nah. worldbuilding? of course not. the hardest thing about writing is NAMING THINGS. NAMES, PLACES, THINGS, WHY DOES EVERYTHING NEED A NAME I’M LOSING MY MIND

the inner critic in me: yes but how?

me: that's all she did

the inner critic in me: show don't tell. invoke emotion in your writing. what does this action say about the character's--

me: oh my god she literally just pulled the book from the shelf!

i love stories where the main character just can't catch a break. your mum died? oh well, you've been kidnapped. oh look you've been rescued? nah, these people are blackmailing you. your friend rescues you from the blackmailers? no, they're going to stab you in the back as well.
