"desperately safe" I feel this basically summarizes Gemini's mental states, grasping and clinging to whatever's familiar and safe. Between their need for home and the persistent undercurrents of hunger and LV, Gemini... is barely hanging in there. Just barely, but it is just enough.

do you know the pain, the torture, the emotional wreckage I've been through for the last twenty-four hours???? because I had the time to look at this but not the time to REBLOG IT. IMAGINE THE LOOK ON MY FACE WHEN I FIRST SCROLLED DOWN AND THERE WERE MORE DRAWINGS. I THOUGHT I WAS HALLUCINATING.

ahem....

I'm in love with everything. The body language, the facial expressions, the shading, the way the backgrounds complement the mood and setting — and most importantly, how every picture is inspired by different scenes from each chapter. It's incredible. It's even got the extreme sides of Gem right next to each other. I can't even pick a favourite out of all of them because it'd feel like straight-up betrayal.

and the hands. THE HANDS. THEY'RE JUST PERFECT????

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS. My mind is fucking blown. It feels like holy water was poured into my eyes. This makes me higher on serotonin than a kite.

To azzzhat: I like what you write! The way you write each scene, it is like each moment is captured in snapshots of arresting, haunting detail. The moments focusing on Orion stuck with me vividly, and I had to draw what Mamba experienced in chapter 15. I would love to continue reading more of what you write for The Wolf.

LOOK me in the eyes and TELL ME you "may or may not have gone a lil overboard" you beautiful human being, I FUCKING DARE YOU

I cannot fathom the time you must've spent perfecting every detail down to the RUG and BOOKS. Like, holy fucking shit. Those novels even differ in size and some of them are leaning on adjacent ones. The flower motif on the rug and those sneaky little book covers has to be one of my favourite aspects. It just makes everything look so elegant and cohesive.

And don't get me started on that close-up of the books. I SCREAMED when I realised that NOT ONLY IS GEM'S HALF-AND-HALF WOLF FORM ON THE TOP BOOK COVER, THERE ARE FEATHERS AROUND IT REPRESENTING ORION AND THE SPINE FEATURES THEIR CONSTELLATIONS. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. BENEATH THAT BOOK, IS ANOTHER BOOKMARKED ONE ON SOUL ANATOMY (and if I were to guess, the obscured illustration is of a mammal heart) WHICH IS JUST. INSANE. BECAUSE GEM IS MORE OF A BIOLOGY EXPERT AND I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU CAUGHT THAT.

The perspective and lighting are just GODLY. LOOK AT THOSE GOLDEN RAYS BATHING THE LIBRARY IN WARMTH AND BOUNCING OFF THE PILLAR LIGHTS. It's so realistic I feel like I'm actually in the scene itself, watching this exact moment unfold. The environment is drawn perfectly to where the objects sit in relation to the POV and I still can't get over it. It looks so perfect my eyes are burning

did I mention I screamed earlier? because I should tell you I screamed even louder when it finally clicked in my brain that doomy is curled up next to gem as they're reading, who looks so relaxed and genuinely happy to see orion that it's infectious. speaking of whom, i LOVE HIS WINGS. THE SOFT FLUFFY TEXTURE. THE SLIGHTLY UNEVEN SURFACE THAT YOU CAN ONLY SEE IF YOU ZOOM IN. THE CLEAR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SECTIONS OF HIS FEATHERS.

which brings me to the last part of my rant!! the texture. god, the texture. the floor, the sofas, the pillows, EVEN THE LAMP, the walls and (although somewhat unrelated) the small creases in the cushions showing where gem and doomy have sat down. this whole piece is the definition of masterful and I'm flattered beyond words to receive this divine rendition. GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK. I CAN LIVE OFF THIS FOR A YEAR. ONE OF THESE DAYS I MIGHT START SOBBING OUT OF NOWHERE BECAUSE OF YOU.

HE LOOKS SO BROODY YET MAJESTIC?? ALL OF HIS OVERLAPPING WINGS MAKING HIM LOOK DECEPTIVELY LARGE EVEN WHEN HE'S ROOSTING ON THE FLOOR???? UGGGHHH PERFECT

I can't get over the glow of his eyes. Like. Hell. They look like hellfire. Like the rage of the sun collapsed into a single stare. It's one of the only colourful parts of him and I love love love how everything else consists of cool, muted colours while his eyes are just the fiercest core of a flame. It's so stark. I'm pretty sure I mentioned the same thing last time but I'll never get tired of it.

The mottled patterns of his wings!! GORGEOUS. They actually get lighter the smaller his wings get, so technically his cranial wings have the least markings, but man I don't really care. Every streak is fun to look at. Plus, fluffy spiky feathers galore! The energy he exudes makes me think twice about turning my back on him. Maybe it's the talons.

Poor Alphys. Imagine having to treat an emergency patient while a horrifying angel-beast waits behind you for any slip-up you might make. How ironic is it that a creature who's meant to care and look after others is possibly the most dangerous one of all?

HELLO I AM DEEPLY IN LOVE WITH THIS LIKE YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW.

It's glorious, striking, breathtaking, every single adjective used to describe beauty in the dictionary. All the minute details — like the light pencil strokes representing individual feathers on his wings, the way his primaries and secondaries split apart into sharp blades that look like they could cut, the long marks on the floor from his lethal talons — they all add up to paint the perfect picture of an eldritch being meant to be respected and feared. The fact that it's traditional only enhances the shadows, and the distinct contrast makes your attention fix directly on him, like how you should never take your eyes off something that can easily rip you apart.

But what I love most are the eyes — they're just the most perfect fucking shade of a burning sunset, and I only just realised that it's like the intense cousin of cautionary orange. And the subtlety of the same colour tinging the ridges of his eyes and the surrounding feathers, my god.

I would marry this. No hesitation. Thank you so much for bringing this hell bird to life.

the glorious, the stunning, the magnificent angry poof

The way the jacket puffs up like it's hair standing on end is so good!! Malicious energy just RADIATES from that glint in their eyelight, and the fact that their mask is tilted down so you can't see their humanoid features does wonders for depicting them as a provoked animal.

I'm also obsessed with the details of the mask, including the cracks on the muzzle! Animal skulls are such a pain in the ass, so you have my utmost respect for incorporating Gem's at all. Kudos to the lovely animation as well! I can't imagine drawing all that fur and keeping the transition looking smooth. It's incredible.

It is a custom to start every fanart reblog with a picture epitomising my feelings towards it

THE LOOK IN THEIR EYELIGHTS. DO YOU SEE THAT. THEY ARE MY MELTING POINT. THEY'RE SO FUZZY AND SOFT IT'S ILLEGAL AND THE TEARS 😭 I don't know if it's intentional either — because if it is then there goes another one of my heartstrings — but Gem's eyelights glow fiercely when they're experiencing strong emotion. It does look like it's happening here!

Their entire jacket is given such a fluffy look by the pencil sketch lines! I love how the difference in texture between their hands and the jacket sleeves is so apparent. The dichotomy of bold, sharp lines versus feathery strokes. The mask is so clean and realistic and THE BIRD. THE SPARROW FROM THE DREAM. I JUST REALISED THAT'S WHAT IT IS 😭😭😭 IT'S SO CUTE AND TINY AND UGGGH MY HEART 💓🔥

AS FOR THE CAPTIONS, I adore your interpretation! Above all else, Gemini seeks peace and safety. They're tired, exhausted of all the times they've had to leave everything they've ever known behind because of something beyond their control. Stability is finally in front of them — but reaching for it, grasping it, is something they'll have to accomplish themselves.
