SUNY New Paltz Ceramic Lab Solidarity Event Where: Cafeteria Coffee House, 58 Main Street, New Paltz, NY The Solidarity Cup event will facilitate conversation about social issues over warm beverages served in locally handmade cups. The group will provide handmade cups decorated with portraits of leaders of the civil rights, LGBTQ, women’s rights, immigration reform and environmental movements. With the purchase of a beverage, participants can choose a mug corresponding to the issue that they want to discuss or show solidarity for. The purpose of the event is to create awareness and dialogue in support of equality and justice. Student and faculty members of the SUNY New Paltz Ceramic Lab are working collaboratively to design, make, decorate, glaze and fire cups to accommodate 50+ participants. The SUNY New Paltz Design Society is partnering to provide graphic design for promotional materials and information cards for each of the featured topics. The cups will be given as mementos of the event for those to participate. Any donations collected will go to charities connected to these causes.
