"It's become quite popular, especially in taverns," Kaeya affirmed with a nod. "I'm no expert on the game, but I've built a decent enough deck; if you're a fan as well, we ought to play a round while you're here."

But rather than deciding what to do, she first voiced hesitant concerns, prompting a kind smile from the Captain. "Oh yes, I'm quite sure. It's no trouble at all." He didn't have any official matters to attend to at the moment. What better way to spend an afternoon than with an intriguing new individual? "Besides, it's a Knight's duty to offer assistance to citizens and visitors alike."

Which led perfectly into his returned introduction. "Kaeya," he said as he swept into a bow. "Although, you can consider me your personal guide to the City of Freedom for the day, Candace; it would be my pleasure.

"Now, as for suggestions—" In one swift motion, he straightened up and pivoted on his heel to gesture down the street behind them. "You're in luck; there's a number of shops right down this way." From where they stood near the city gate, Flora's flower stall was the first in line, drawing the eye with tables full of freshly cut specimens. Beyond that, stalls and shop doors lined either side of the street, their wares ranging from local fashions to artisan goods.

"If a commemorative souvenir is what you're after, might I recommend something with a feather motif? It's a popular design in Mondstadt, enough that most boutiques use it in embroidery on clothes, or even as jewelry."

"Oh? I see that TCG has made its way over here too. I know of someone who’s very interested in the game as well.”

There is something pleasant about finding a thread of shared interest in a nation so unfamiliar to her. At any rate, it helps make the Guardian feel a little more comfortable.

In Sumeru city, she’d at least had Dehya present to guide her around and ease her into socially engaging the locals there. Here, however, Candace only has the Traveler to turn to but they were due for an emergency commission and she is loathe to pose any trouble to them whatsoever.

The people of Mondstadt are friendly and their curiosity bore no ill intentions. But it is still plain to see that someone like her stands out easily from the rest and their gaze follows her everywhere.

“Nightly musical performances, huh?” His playful smile draws out one of her own. “Maybe I’ll drop by later to see it for myself.”

Based on the summary she was given, Mondstadt certainly boasts quite a fair amount of experiences she could indulge in. And it would help if she had a guide of sorts but-

“Are you sure?” Candace hesitates. “I wouldn’t want to hold you up if you have matters to attend to. But if you are not opposed to keeping me company, I would like to first search for some souvenirs. Any suggestions?”

A pause.

“My name is Candace, by the way. Pleased to make your acquaintance, Sir-?”
