I think it’s one of lukinha’s earlier works, but it’s still great. Her writing honed excellently over the years, but this is a good example of her potential as a fic writer even before she had tackled all the “good writer’s tips”. Wednesday Evening Salons + The Elephant Dance + Too Much Rain, by yes_2dayRating: NC-17Why is it so damn good: I don’t know how many of y’all actually know this fic, but it is just... well, I have no words for how great it is. It’s a bit difficult to read the chapters, thanks to LJ’s impossible systems, and then fic might start a bit slowly, but in the end it’s totally worth it. The whole fic is still going on, and it already has about 250 chapters? That’s a lot of chapters for a quality fic. Also, you’ll fall in love with the author’s two OC’s. I know I did and I just scream with delight whenever they appear in the fic.Basically, John doesn’t die in 1980, and Paul and John entwine in a complicated and difficult relationship, managing to stand through hardship and years, and the fic is written so well that I sometimes forget things didn’t happen that way. Then I get sad. But then I read another chapter and get happy again. And get sad again ‘cos it’s not real. It’s a never-ending circle. I just can’t praise this one enough. (Gotta get it into the library ASAP, but there are.... a lot of chapters....)Overall rating: 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌+ BLESS THIS FIC

i’d be absolutely delighted to talk about my eternal favorite topic that i can in fact talk about for hours, my own characters! thank you for asking, that already made my day. coughs coughs

i have, at this point, countless ocs, like, so much more than i ever edited or posted about here, and i'm not sure which tag you scrolled through, but i can give you run-down of my favorites!

since you probably asked the question because of cassian - he's my pen&paper rpg character that i am currently playing, from a medieval fantasy setting - he's a knight of the queen, used to be a bit of an asshole, which ended up costing him the love of his life & ended up completely changing himself to become a better person. now he's just the perfect exemple of a genuiely good guy - super patient, wants to save everyone, fights only to protect others (the shield is his main weapon), he's kind and always puts others before himself. (he's also very not on good terms with him being gay, feels like his life isn't worth anything and struggles with everyone around him finding happiness, while he just fakes it. i love him very much. he's the ultimate dad-friend.

the said lost love of his life, vic is maybe not half as lost as it seems (i can't talk about canon, because it might happen, if my dm feels like it, but i write about them in alternative universes a lot) is your average problematic fav™, while cassian is the unproblematic fav™. vic is an idealist, an artist, a complete drama queen and honestly just a mess. he runs away when things get serious, has no idea what really to do with his life and lowkey hates himself (same), but he's also charismatic, super outgoing (also very confident about his sexuality) and people just like him, even if they aren't sure why.

(they are wonderful mess of a couple and honestly, i love them to bits - they are both super broken and just help each other to grow and to heal, even if all the things going in their past & honestly just let them be happy, cassian deserves happiness. me @ my dm)

my probably most beloved and most popular (lol) character is alpha, another pen&paper character from a dystopian, fucked up sci-fi world, but i have written him in about every au that exists at this point. he's this super cliché assassin, 5'2 feet of smugness and deadliness, dual-wields two blades, only wears black, dyes his hair red because he fucking can. he wants to be this cliché and honestly, he's very good at pulling it off. he also at this point has suffered to so much shit that he's grown into a more serious person and only his determination to not let the world kill him keeps him alive. mostly, he's just a very smut person who takes no shit, would leave anyone in the dust to survive and kills people for a living simply becuase he is good at it, not because he really enjoys it.

alpha doesn't really do love, but his main ship (it's complicated) is axis, who is also an assassin, but a sniper, used to be part of noble family, but his family fucked up and now he makes his way through the underworld with his good manners and deadly eye. he's an artist at heart and he really never wanted for alpha to become his muse, but he really does love him - doesn't he - even if alpha sometimes simply vanishes for years and then comes back with a million of demons more, and all axis can do is do watch him struggle from several rooms away. (axis is just an avocado-loving hipster who wears flower printed shirts and needs a break, mostly, at least in all universes except canon, while alpha is this emo-kid who lives off energy drinks, drives like he wants to die and answers your texts at 4am even if he should be sleeping)

i really do have a lot of other ocs - most of them have pinterest boards here, so if there's anyone that intrests you, just hit me up and i'll escalate into a wall of text. in general, i have my rpg characters who i mostly cross over into my original stories

- the only thing i'm writing at the moment is a very dark superhero au for alpha and axis and a modernverse story about vic and cassian, but i have wanderer, a story about four teenagers who somehow are destined to overthrow the old gods and become gods themselves, even if half of them is really not interested in it (the main cast are orion, my star-boy and constellationmaker, crown, the ghostcommander and orion's prophet, valor, the girl with an ocean instead of blood, and alpha, who just accidentally killed a mage and had to take his place in the revolution, because the death god decided making him his championn sounds like a good idea. it was not. the prequel is a story called champion that explains how the fuck a twenty-something year old assassin ends up becoming a godkiller and also the next death god)

- here's to us is a slice of life / coming of age story about the direwolf gang (nate, aki, izzy) who have been childhood friends forever, but end up changing for better or worse, it's all very complicated and dramatic and everyone is into everyone

- all the king's men is about a group of teenagers who enter an experiment which lets them play very realistic virtual reality videogames and it's all fun and games until it's not anymore (it has a cinnamon role protagonist, noah, his lightning mage support, carter, they are bound for eternity and honestly the best platonic bros, and a bunch of other wild characters) -

static is a utopian futuristic fantasy novel which i am considering to turn into a supernatural crime novel and last but not least the rare few, a dark high fantasy story about dark elves who are the really fucked up antagonists of the actual plot and the story gets told from their point of view and i am not very far in planning this, but the characters are amazing. i love them. i only write angsty shit.
