YOU WERE JUST TRYING TO WORK WITH THE MOOD SLIME. While the other three were on a call, you were stuck with Peter Venkman. Sometimes it was bearable. Other times? Well, let's just say he was a bit of a flirt. An annoying flirt. Sometimes you can handle it, sometimes you couldn't. It just depended on how you felt and how patient you were at the time.

This day. You were not so patient.

You were conducting different tests for the slime. He was supposed to be helping. But all he did was pretty much hover over you with his poor flirtatious tactics. You weren't trying to give in to that behavior, as you deemed it immature.

"You're pretty quiet today, toots. You're not your usual self," you hear him say.

Toots. It never fails to make your nose scrunch up in disgust. That nickname made you feel like absolute garbage. But you dealt with it, mainly because you had to work with him.

"That's because I'm concentrating. It's kind of hard when you're blabbering in my ear," you tell him as you look at the cassette tape that's on the pool table.

You're looking at the Farewell to Kings cassette tape that's sitting next to the Jackie Wilson one that Egon has used prior for the experiment. It makes you wonder how it would react to Prog rock instead of the rhythm and blues.

"I wonder what it'll do for this tape," you mutter to yourself, before grabbing it.

You walk over to the radio, Peter following you like the lost puppy that he acted like. You didn't like being so close. It was a thing for you. The only one who could get that close to you was Egon. And right now, you were missing that company.

"Guess we're feisty today, huh?" Peter asks.

"Only because you won't leave me alone," you mumble, "You're supposed to be helping me. You could be doing something useful."

"I am doing something useful."

You close the cassette radio. Turning the tune to Cinderella Man. You turn back around to face him. Your eyes narrow before you walk away. He still follows you around.

"And what exactly are you doing?" You question, crossing your arms, "Because the only thing you have been doing is following me around like a lost puppy."

"I'm observing the mood slime, thank you very much," Peter answered, "I'm observing its reaction to you!"

You rule your eyes. "Oh yeah? And how is it reacting?"

"Very, very positive, toots," he tells you.

He tries to get closer, but you put your hand up so that he doesn't. You happen to raise the hand that had a ring on your finger. You had enough of his flirty antics and advances, and it was about time he knew that you were taken by one of your own colleagues.

"Sorry, toots," you say, almost mockingly, "I'm taken, Venkman. By Dr. Egon Spengler."

His eyes widen in shock while a smirk of amusement crawls onto your lips. His reaction was priceless to you. You just wondered what he had to say about it.

"Wait," Peter says, "He's engaged? Before me? How did Spengs get engaged before me?"

You finally put your hand down. "I dunno. Maybe because he doesn't creepily flirt. He's just himself," you say. You give a smile before walking away. Leaving Peter to think about his life decisions.

"I can't believe this," he muttered, before walking in the opposite direction.

NARRATION

Those special chapters were so weird. It's kind of funny how the plot is like, just ignoring all of that and going back to regular programming. It's like in an old kid's show when they got a dog and then the next episode - no dog anymore. Like there's kinda no point to it.

Ok, so Thales talking to yeeted Edelgard. I will never not get over how funny it is that's the path the writers decided.

Yep, we're really just jumping back into the regular plot. That is so funny. The writing in this game is a clusterfuck at times.

Ok, so we're going to the monastery to save Rhea. MUCH better than saving Bernie's dad.

TWSITD causing chaos again. I feel this route targeted them more than the other two. Like they barely existed in GW.

Everyone's worried about Rhea.

Dimitri wants to wreck TWSITD and the Empire. Let's fucking go!

No side quests again! Guys, I'm sooooo close to beating this game I can taste it. Both SB and AG have very short final chapters.

Only Claude is annoying, which tracks how this game's gone so . . .

So I've gotten all the supports for: Dimitri, Dedue, Felix, Sylvain, Ingrid, and Rodrigue. Mercedes I'm only missing Jeritza. I didn't use Annette or Ashe, so they're missing a few, but I feel I did pretty good. Hopefully I can get Mercie and Jeritza this chapter.

Ugh, so I missed the opportunity to deepen my bond with Byleth :( Maybe next time.

So in another route, Ashe had no idea what he believed in anymore. In this one, he's confident about his sense of justice.

In another route, Yuri didn't tell me his history with Varley, in this one he trusted me with it.

Ingrid is a queen. She said it's the people who suffer in war, our leaders should reach diplomatic resolutions. Too bad only Dimitri believes in those :(

Aww, Byleth refused to kill Shez during their fight because he could tell she wasn't herself. I soooo wish I'd gotten their supports.

Ok, so I ran into Raphael again and agreed that I didn't like how we were fighting (which, imo, isn't true, but I wanted to see the difference). Shez thinks Edelgard is too cruel, Claude is too haphazard, and Dimitri is too cautious. She pretty much nailed it.

Linhardt just said Caspar revels in bloodshed. That's fucked up.

My heart just broke and warmed at the same time. A Kingdom general asked a Duscur general how the people from Duscur pray. He wanted to learn because he lost a lot of good soldiers from Duscur in the last battle and wanted to pray for them in the way their religion would. It's details like this that make Hopes worth it.

Haha, Dedue was fairly chill considering I attacked allies and posed a possible threat to Dimitri. He brought it up, but didn't harp on it.

BYLETH & JERALT A

Man, I'm glad I got this unlocked in time.

Byleth gave Jeralt flowers. First time in Byleth's life lol.

He's trying to communicate his feelings, thankfulness to Jeralt for being his captain and father.

Aw, it's a throwback to Byleth giving out flowers at the Academy.

Lamo, Jeralt just said Byleth may have been a student or led seminars, but isn't qualified to be a teacher.

Jeralt's like, I knew you cared, kid. But I still appreciate it.

Byleth picked the flowers out himself. It's the same kind his mother liked :(((

Jeralt used to give these flowers to Sitri.

Byleth is being so sentimental and sweet. I can just imagine a voiced Byleth saying lines like that in Houses' supports and buying more into the character.

I swear, this game made me really get Byleth more and "buy into" the character. Also, I'm going to cry so hard when Jeralt dies. I still don't really care for Jeralt, but I'm going to just feel so sad for Byleth.

DIMITRI & DEDUE A

For anyone wondering, I purposefully saved this one and Felix A. I've had them unlocked for a while.

Dedue is worried because Dimitri keeps sleeping at his desk. He's grateful or else he'd get sore.

Of course, he had bad dreams about the past.

Ohhhh! Not the tragedy, but arriving home after. Cool to learn some tidbits about that part too.

A child cursed Dimitri after the funeral because his dad died in Duscur and was furious with Dimitri for not killing Dedue, but hanging out with him instead.

Dimitri just ignored him.

Then Dimitri talks about his duty to those who died, and asks Dedue what he would do if Dimitri begged for vengeance while he was dying. OFC, Dedue says he'd do it even if he died.

Then Dimitri asks the opposite, what would Dedue do if Dimitri begged him to live for his own happiness? Dedue said he couldn't.

"I cannot know happiness without you by my side." :(((((((

He'd seek revenge, for his own sake, not Dimitri's.

Dimitri's like, nothing I'd say would change your mind?

Dedue just flips the subject, asking if Dimitri can't just live for himself, and ofc Dimitri says no, he can't.

But imagines another life traveling around as a merc with Dedue or living as a farmer. Dedue's like, why not go?

Dimitri says obviously I can't do that.

So Dedue's like get some sleep.

It worries Dedue every time he sees Dimitri asleep like that at his desk bc he's worried Dimitri died. But Dimitri's like, not why you're here. It won't happen.

Dimitri's like, if I died, that wouldn't go well, so I'll listen.

GUYS. DIMITRI'S GOING TO SLEEP. SOMEONE TALKED HIM INTO SLEEPING. THE POWER OF DEDUE.

DIMITRI & FELIX A

Starts with Dimitri apologizing and promising revenge, killing all of TWSITD no matter the cost.

Felix walks in, Dimitri almost calls him Glenn, but corrects, and apologizes again except to Felix for seeing that.

Felix is like "I've seen all there is of you to see." So, uh, what does that mean?

Dimitri explains that he suffers from a "waking dream," saying he sees the dead like they're real.

Then talks about the violent revenge the dead scream at him.

Felix asks when this all started. Dimitri says 6 years, but the voices started 4 years ago during his first battle? Not sure those numbers line up with lore and age, but I don't know how old they are this time. Anyways, started with Duscur, got worse when Rufus tried to have Dimitri killed by sending him to battle.

The man he killed that freaked Felix out was someone from Duscur, and the voices cheered when he killed the guy.

Felix is like, do you really think Glenn and Lambert would torture you like that? Telling Dimitri he's the one doing it, not them.

Dimitri's like, even if that's true, I can't forgive myself.

Felix talks about how if Dimitri loses his path, he's taking everyone down with him (so Houses, sans AM) and says "keep the whole removing their heads thing in check yeah?"

Felix says it'll be their secret.

"are you offering to let me unburden my heart to you when the time calls for it?" - Dimitri to Felix. Guys, I'm dying a little.

Dimitri credits Felix with the reason he hasn't descended into madness, and asks Felix to continue being his right-hand man.

Hahahah, OMG, Felix picked Dimitri up and is physically carrying him to bed. Dimitri is nearly laughing because he's so much taller than Felix his feet are dragging the floor.

Felix calls him a "sack of muscle" lol

Dimitri carried Felix like this when Felix twisted his ankle. And now is calling this a workout. Dimitri's still massively entertained.

They are also married.

Man, so Dedue got Dimitri to fucking sleep, and Felix got him to laugh.

Ok, this game is really Dimilix, the game. I swear a shipper on deck wrote this. It may also be why Felix was one of the few Blue Lions to survive SB. Writers' bias.

My shipping heart is so happy with both supports.

ASHE & FLAYN B

This is their final support.

They're fishing together. She's trying to reel in a big fish, but it's not working. Ashe gives her tips. And she got it!

Though, it seems like it was a bit of a struggle.

Flayn swore she'd not let go no matter what. Ashe says sometimes it's best to not let go, and suddenly understands Seteth. But still compliments her on her determination.

Flayn thinks her mother would be proud of her for catching this, which is part of the reason Flayn loves fishing.

She flirts with Ashe a bit too lol.

And now she's drooling over the fish.

Ashe says Flayn enjoys him of his sister and really had fun.

But then panics thinking of Flayn in the kitchen lol.

ANNETTE & CONSTANCE B

Constance compliments Annette's performance in battle.

Constance is a legendary alumni at the school in Faerghus.

Stories include turning bossy noble kids into horses. And she started using it everywhere.

She argued magical theory with teachers and won.

These make me love Constance, not going to lie.

Annette is nervous being around someone so famous. Constance calls Annette one of the most talented women in the Kingdom.

Constance loves a book Annette work, but it's mostly a cook book, so Annette doesn't make much of it.

Annette wrote a magical cookbook, and Constance is all about it.

Annette tries to give Mercedes credit because she's the cook.

They both want to get to know each other better.

This was really them geeking out over each other, magic, and Mercedes' cooking.

MERCEDES & JERITZA A

It came down to the lack fucking minute, but I got it. Thank you, Shez, for cooking the perfect dinner.

Jeritza finds and old letter from Mercedes' mother. Or, rather, she wrote Jeritza a letter after Mercie told her that they found him.

They both want to live with him after the war, but he says no.

He can't face her because of his past actions. Doesn't seem Mercie holds it against him. And says neither will her mother.

Then Jeritza talks about the Death Knight persona.

Mercie's like, naw, because you're fine right now.

Jeritza still doesn't give in though. He insists he must pay for his crimes, which he thinks he never can. He wants to get judged by the law, which, honestly, respect.

Mercie decides to support his decisions, even though it makes her sad, and that they'll be waiting for him. No matter how long. Even if they're both old ladies.

I really loved that support. Seeing Mercie support Jeritza's decision, seeing Jeritza take responsibility for his actions. All around good support.

ANNETTE & CONSTANCE A

Glad I got this one. I think Seteth/Shez A is the only other support still within reach.

Constance wants Annette's help conducting an experiment outside. Annette knows how Constance's mood changes when she goes outside. Annette's happy to help.

Obviously now Constance is being down on herself.

Annette volunteered before learning the experiment. Thankfully it's just to try and get all the cats from the area.

It fails :( I want a spell like that.

Constance is obviously moping, Annette gives her a pep talk, but it probably useless bc they're outside.

It attracted bugs, and Constance says the cockroach is a better sorceresses than her lamo. Then they attract angry birds lol.

Once back inside, Constance realizes her spell does sort of work, but they just didn't know how to get cats.

Aww, I really liked that support chain.

FINAL BATTLE

How can anyone not tell something is wrong with Edelgard?

It's so weird how they just ignore the special chapters.

Thales is making her fight.

Sylvain said he'll skip the class reunion if this is what they're like.

Ingrid is roaring to go after Thales.

No sign of Claude. Dimitri's trusting him, but I don't know about that. I wonder if he betrays you here too. Though Dimitri makes a good point that if Faerghus falls, Claude's ass is next.

On, cool image! Dimitri giving a speech. It's like a moment in Lord of the Rings before Aragorn and co march on Mordor.

I like this! Dimitri's talking about severing the past and moving on into tomorrow. Good to hear him talking like that.

I only got 40 points too. Guess Claude was the odd one out, getting more points for his battle than the other two.

Felt good to kill Varley for once.

Getting ready to face Thales now. Dimitri about to get his revenge against TWSITD. Feels good.

Shez is reassuring Dimitri that he's not alone. That his friends are here to help. :)

I think I just killed Kyrona for good this time.

Time to kick Thales' ass. Much better than killing Rhea. Again.

We also got to defeat Edelgard. Having a hard time feeling bad about that.

This battle is pure chaos. But in a fun way.

Oh, did I beat Thales? I'm at a cut scene. Shez stopped Edelgard; and Dimitri's marching to kick Thales' ass.

Haha, he just ignored Thales magic like it was nothing. What a fucking badass.

He's not even saying anything, just breathing, and the voice acting is still on point.

Edelgard remembered Dimitri? So he didn't kill her. And outside Rhea, Claude and the Blue Lions are waiting. And sun is about to come up.

This felt WAY more complete than the other two. I was expecting MUCH worse. Maybe if I played the other two first I'd be more surprised, but they set the bar stupid low.

We defeated the Empire, defeated TWSITD - I don't know what would even be left?

I love how hard the narration tries to make it sound like the Empire has a fart's chance in the wind anymore. It's just clean up now.

MVP time. It'll eventually turn into the Dimitri show like SB did Hubert and GW did Lorenz. I suspect it'll take longer though bc I wanted to use the other Blue Lions a lot.

Actually, I lie, it happened like the second I got Dimitri and not just Shez. I think I may just be a stan lol. He's also just so damn strong he killed so much easier and faster than anyone else.

You can tell the chapter Dimitri was missing for since Felix and Ingrid kept trading MVP. Then back to Dimitri.

I'm excited for Dimitri's letter. Still wish we got paired endings here though.

Dimitri feels reassured with Shez by his side. He's also the only one who asked Shez to stay in the Kingdom. It's nothing spectacular, but it was sweet.

I'm also a bit sad to see this one end. No more Fodlan unless I replay, but I guess there's still supports I didn't unlock.

Guys, I can't believe I finished. Now I'm finally "free" to play whatever games I want.

Hello! I saw your post about Assassin's Creed and wanted to ask more. I was a fan of the series too in its early days for the exact reasons you describe: the meta story, lore, and cultural touches that tended to feel so very real. I fell out after ACIII and after the series emerged from the Unity debacle was told that they'd abandoned (or at least back-seated) those elements.

To hear they've survived in some form is encouraging, but what are your thoughts on the meta story since then? Is it worth giving the series a shot or like you said just an endless trail of breadcrumbs?

So, I think the series started going downhill in AC Origins when they introduced leveling and other RPG mechanics. To me, that was the turning point when the games shifted away from the classic formula in order to chase broader appeal and more aggressive monetization strategies.

Despite this downshift, for me every single title that I've played has had at least some redeeming features that made it worth it.

If you haven't played it, AC IV is actually one of my favorite of the series. That one is well worth a playthrough and I can recommend it without reservation. Fun gameplay, interesting story in both the past and future narratives, and stunning setting.

AC Rogue is also an underrated title that does a lot of interesting things with its story and better fleshes out the dark side of the Assassins and why someone might choose the Templars over them. And if you like the gameplay of IV, it's all the same here (though the setting is mostly frozen northern seas instead of the glorious Caribbean).

AC Syndicate is not as good in general, but does implement some nice features. It's the first (major) title with a playable woman protagonist, and the free running gets a refreshed feeling from updates to the setting. Like, they introduced major traffic in this one (moving trains, carriages and boats on the Thames) and once you get used to it it adds an interesting element to navigating around the setting. Plus your homebase is a train, and I think that's really nifty! And the DLC is pretty good. No really huge plot revelations, but the modern day assassins get better characterized.

AC Origins is another downshift (like I said, they introduce levelling and RPG elements here). I like the main character(s), but honestly, if you're looking for one to skip, I'd probably skip this one. The gameplay is meh and the story doesn't introduce much that is interesting. It's supposed to be about how the Assassins started as an organization, but there aren't really any stunning revelations here. It's more of a personal tale of one man seeking justice for his child. Also, the new modern day protagonist, Layla Hassan, is not very likeable IMO.

AC Odyssey is very similar to Origins, and it's just such a bloated game. It's soooo big. And more action focused. BUT it does introduce a major interesting plot element that I won't spoil here and you also learn a lot more about the Isu. Layla gets even less likeable.

And you've read my review of Valhalla. Layla is still the modern day protagonist, but she's at least getting a little more relatable. I haven't finished it yet, so I can't give my complete impressions. I'm certainly hopeful that I'll learn more about modern day factions within the Templar order and maybe some more about the origins of humanity itself, but that remains to be seen.

whenever nat is feeling dysphoric lottie will tell him how handsome he is while playing with his hair/running her fingers along his top surgery scars/playing with the happy trail on his stomach until all he can do is laugh and pull her in for kisses

nat gets to over 8 months on T and his voice has fully deepened, lot's voice has gotten higher on E and they're both like - somehow even more attracted to each other than they were before dksjks. phone calls even though they just left each other's apartments just to hear each other's voices, nat sending husky voice notes in the morning because he knows they drive lottie crazyyyy. lot's voice being so cute to nat that sometimes conversations are like - "babe, i literally just explained this to you." and nat's like, "i know. can you say it again though? i just love hearing you talk."

nat's HRT giving him that *slutty* male waist and allowing him to bulk a bit, lot literally can't keep her hands off him or stop bragging about how handsome "my man" is or using every possible moment to say "my guy" or "my boyfriend" (nat is even worse about calling lot "my girl", making it extremely clear to all his dudebros that lot is HIS,, but we won't get into it, possessive nat is for another time)

likewise lottie's HRT making her gain weight in her hips and chest and nat being like, insanely obsessed with this. could not keep his hands off of her if he tried and even then lot wouldn't want him to, grinning every time nat squeezes at the plush of her waist or kisses her stomach, telling her she's "so perfect, so beautiful. how'd i get so lucky?"

literally the most wholesome relationship ever, like they go clothes shopping together and tell each other which outfits look so pretty or so handsome

the height difference doesn't even bother nat because having a tall gf just means her skirts show even MORE of her legs (he has an obsession there as well) and when they cuddle he can just starfish on top of her while she plays with his hair and gives him little affirmations

I'm nearing maybe 1/2 of the way through Mass Effect 3 and I have ~thoughts~™️which I shall share with you now. 😉

Ain't gonna lie, they made my boy soooo hot in this one, lol. And here with the Prothean eye thing happening?

I'd heard about Steve Cortez but didn't realize he was going to be our pilot on all of these missions! Here it looks like he's questioning his life and his choices as Shepard prepares to do his next harebrained scheme, lol. I just love Steve, what can I say? I don't want to activate his romance... this time... 😜but I really like talking to him between missions. 🤗

That's one thing I think ME3 has really improved on from the first 2 games. Previously, you pretty much just had the same dialogue tree with nothing new in it until specific things happen to advance the main story. This time, once you exhaust the regular dialogue options, you get the characters saying something about the last mission, if applicable, or they'll just give you a general, "Commander" acknowledgement. I like that. It feels much more natural. 😎👍

I know he was Cerberus, which is why he isn't here now that the Normandy is back with the Alliance, but I miss Mess Sergeant Gardner. 😞 I wonder why they didn't give us an Alliance Mess Sergeant in his place? It was a nice, realistic touch I really liked, to see that you have members of your crew that are here in support of the soldiers, not just soldiers themselves.

Again another character I've heard of but really hadn't seen before is Eve. She. Is. AWESOME. 10/10 and I desperately want to see her bend Wrex around her littlest finger, lol. Don't have a cap or footage of it but that moment at the end of her rescue, when she grabs his gun and shoots the last of the enemies herself? Well, if Wrex didn't fall at least a little in love with her, then there's no justice in the universe, lol!

I saved Kelly Chambers in ME2 but never could trigger the option to ask her to dinner, so she never has showed up in ME3 to give me my fish back. 😞😞😞 So Shep and I are buying new fish as we find them. 🐟🐠

I finally have found a weapon I completely jive with! Shep and I have this dumb habit of just charging into the middle of a group of enemies but at least armed with an omni-bladed N7 Valkyrie, we have a chance of melee'ing our way out again, lol! I swear, I play like I think Shep is a Krogan or something. Though I am getting very handy with Shockwave, I have to say. There's something super satisfying at throwing that biotic power and watching baddies just fly off their feet, lol! (In ME2, I swear, you look like you're throwing a bowling ball, here it's more like a punch. Not sure which I like better, honestly! 🤔🤣)

Extremely focused and passionate blacksmith, her kit is fairly simple yet fun, plus she got that tgirl swag. Gameplay-wise, she's obviously great for soloing a lane, or going at it with a partner for assistance. S1 is alright but watching her bonk shit with her S2 is always a treat.

Okay, so, I'm not gonna do this justice, but I'm gonna have a shot at it anyway: Vulcan is a weaponsmith. It's practically her sole interest, as her file states that she hyperfocuses on her craft all day, and tends to get irritated if you pull her out of it. Her voicelines really hammer this in (hah). Soooo she has ADHD or some kinda incredible focus ability. Well damn can I relate. She not only forges her own gear, but also helps design and repair gear for fellow operators, so she proves to be a pretty valuable resource for Rhodes Island. Her operator record shows this in action, and I have to say, the care and consideration she demonstrates for her peers are way sharper than I would've expected.

Goddamn, she really understands the importance of both the tool and the person bearing it. Even the most reliable tools will begin to fail someday, and you can choose whether to submit their bound purposes to prioritize preservation, or give up some part to fix up or even improve them. Neither is a wrong answer. It depends largely on the person behind the tool. These things can be special. But this fuckin exchange right here though...

Cut to me reading this earlier today, still partway through writing my own damn matrix transformation functions in C so I can move the damn camera/objects properly in 3D space on the Nintendo 64. I could easily pop open one of countless git repositories for open source 3D projects and yoink their matrix transformation functions for myself. It's free real estate. So why in the fuck am I burdening my feeble mind with cranking out complicated math shit that has already been done before? "Because there's meaning behind it. It's part of my roots." I want to understand exactly why this thing works. I want to try things far beyond my perceived capabilities, come to those realizations myself, and hopefully learn some shit along the way. It doesn't really matter whether or not I succeed, and even if not, there's no shame in seeking assistance from others. But it's in my nature to meticulously learn every aspect of the things I love. It's simply how I operate. I will hyperfocus on that shit all day. Just know I'll feel cranky if you try to pull me out of it.

Hey! I know it’s been like… a year, but do you still have any thoughts about your DNDads magical girl au?? It looks really cool and I’m a bit late to the party!

Soooo this made me revisit my old designs and since i improved a lot i just might re-do some of them, still keeping mostly to the ogs. Also hi im sorry for not replying earlier (this has been sitting in my ask box for a whileee) but i'm happy people are still intrested in it.

Honestly i've been thinking about the og dads as magical girls more lately but unfortunetly i suffer from can't draw middle aged man and give them justice yet syndrome so I havent yet.

I'm honestly always half thinking about making a whole ass comic out of this au because i absolutly adore it as a concept (if any actual writters wanna hit me up feel free to i have vague ideas but im not much of a writter).

But well i think the teens got their powers from a generational thing maybe, like the kiddads had some magical gems that belonged to the odyssey dads and just before they were kidnapped they passed them onto the kids. (Lark and Sparrow had one half of a stone/gem), oh and so Normals gem is cracked perhaps and that's why he struggles with his powers maybe?!) (can you tell im basiclly making all of this on the fly?)

Also the gems would change color slightly depending on the user (thought i dont think they would do a lot because in my head each family has their color and it doesnt change much)

Each magical girl has their own theme (it can be a mix of stuff, and sometimes its pretty vague) but i had a few designs/ideas floating aroung for the kiddads with Sparrow with a wolf theme (and maybe he and Lark having a sun and moon motif), TJ with a wizard+wampire+some mcr/goth influences etc.

The plot is a lot like canon only more anime magical girl trope and i think i would enjoy a bit more slice of life since with an au we can afford that. The mayor would be a major villain, there would be a few one episode villains like in the early season stuff, and over the course of the series the plot would unveil.

Of course most of this is completly hipothetical since its mostly just the thoughts in my head but it is fun to think about, and i do genuinely wanna revisit this au :)

Hi! First off I wanted to say how much I absolutely love your writing. Everything I read in Yours Truly is just amazing, I’m at the edge of my seat when reading each chapter, and I’ve become obsessed with Nel( she’s just, mwah 🤌). It feels like you really planned everything out from the beginning to end, and the pacing is just perfect! The dialogue between Nel and Al is soooo good and it never feels forced, and they have such a clear dynamic that’s so easy to love (I’m so excited for chapter 32 btw, shit is about to hit the fan)!

Anyway to get to the point, you’ve inspired me to start writing my own story, a love story obviously because I’m a sucker, and I was wondering if you have any advice on how to pace and write romantic tension? I don’t know if you have experience with this, but my story is about a couple who both mutually pine for each other but in the end never tell each other how they feel because of very complicated reasons that I won’t go into.

Also, on another note! In terms of character analysis for Nel and Al, I feel like they’re two sides of the same coin, they both dish out judgement, but Nel is Justice and Al is Vengeance. I guess it’s a pretty obvious statement, but I wanted to bring it up anyway because I think it’s super cool.

Hey there! First of all, thanks so much for the lovely words. This is after 32 is released and I'm still giving people time to catch up on it before I answer other asks, so all I will say is that I hoped you enjoyed it :)

Secondly, I'm very flattered you're asking for advice, but I will be annoying and say this- trust YOUR gut! You know your characters better than anyone else (unless one is an IP character but you still know them best in the context of your story, so whatever). What's helped me the most was letting the characters breathe and speak for themselves. For example, if your characters wanna kiss, let them kiss- just be sure to know what the next steps are. You're not on a time limit, so play around with feelings, explore plot points by yourself before committing to them. Don't be afraid to take the plunge! Have fun with it and give yourself time to experiment. Hopefully that works out for you and happy writing!

And also, yes indeed, Alastor and Nel are much more similar than maybe they want to fully admit ;)

OKAY OKAY so i actually did have some t2 covers for them in mind, but i don't think they're gonna get a new profile this time because uhhh, i feel like "the end of the first trial" and the pre-t2 vds show their personality changes well and also if i tried to describe their t2 personalities more, it would be like "but you will see that in one of the future vds!" or "but i can't say much about it because spoilers!", like sure, i have to keep a lot of info about my prisoners secret too, but when it's the guards who are like, literally the protagonists, it's very hard to hide everything. and i didn't want to make a whole new profile just so for their covers (and possible voicelines) soooo yeah i'll talk about them here! also i was too lazy to draw their t2 versions.

Eiji: Yeah, he gets Bring It On this time. I had to do it to him. I also thought of giving him Harrow, but let's be honest here, I like to joke about Eiji and Kotoko's similarities, since both of them are so passionate about justice and both of them punish the guilty prisoners, but.. That's where their similarities end. Also, I don't know much about Kotoko, I'm not like, her biggest fan here (though I don't dislike/hate her), so I can't say much about her, but I feel like Eiji is more.. uh.. Basically, sure, he wants to punish all criminals and he wants to see them in pain, but it's not because he wants to make this world better or anything. He's just really obsessed with revenge and he wants to feel in control for once. Honestly, it's actually kinda scary to think about, because like.. What if Eiji went "You know what, maybe I shouldn't focus only on criminals AND I SHOULD JUST HURT EVERYONE". I feel like it really could happen if after T1 there were more guilty prisoners and not the innocent ones. Also I just think his Bring It On cover would sound really cool and that last scene with Fuuta looking anxious and staring at his phone and realizing what he had done?? LITERALLY T2 EIJI SEEING EVERYONE'S VERDICTS AND DOUBTING HIMSELF.

Miki: She gets Triage! I feel like her cover would sound really soft and pretty :) The lyrics sound a lot like her T2 version: yes, she's still blaming herself for Asahi running away from home and not protecting him enough and she also wants to help the guilty prisoners, but also now she knows how much influence she has over everyone here. She can save them. She can save both innocent and guilty prisoners. So please, give her another chance. Yes, she thinks she's worse than all the prisoners here and she thinks she's the worst older sister ever, but also, she's one of the guards. Most prisoners like her and Eiji is willing to listen to her. She's indispensable.

Okay, this one was hard because to be honest, I was just kinda planning to make them follow in Es's footsteps and cover Hibana together dkdksdlsl. But I tried my best to assign them separate covers.

Eiji: Hmm, I don't think it sounds like something he would sing because I imagine Eiji usually covering more "loud" songs, but I decided to go with At! Now, again, as with pretty much all DECO*27 songs, this one is about a romantic relationship, but hear me out. Like, look at the lyrics. "The day after you die, I wonder what I would eat", "If I voiced it out, you would have gotten mad at me, so I'm keeping that in my head", "Why is it when I'm certain of it, I end up wanting to cry alone".. Or how about "The day after I die, I wonder who you'll rely on"? Or "And I'm surprised, you've been having the same thoughts as me"?? OR "UNTIL THE FAR, FAR FUTURE, LET'S KEEP HURTING EACH OTHER"?? OR "BECAUSE UNTIL WE GET TO UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER, I'LL NEVER LEAVE YOU"?? OR "HITTING AND SHARING THIS EXPERIENCE TOGETHER BECAUSE WE'RE WRONG, WE'RE SHINING MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE NOW, RIGHT??? Yeah, I think you know who I'm talking about. I was so shocked when I read the lyrics because?? THIS IS LITERALLY KEI AND EIJI'S RELATIONSHIP?? Like, even lyrics like "So as we feel troubled, let's tell each other "I love you"" sound a lot like them because GOD THEIR DYNAMIC IS INSANE. Eiji constantly reminding Miki how much he hates Kei for everything he did to Eiji and having understandable reasons for wanting to kill him, but instantly going "protective older brother (who is actually younger)" mode when he sees Kei suffering?? Like seriously, if he could kill Kei, he would. But he didn't. Kei is injured, but still alive. Why did Eiji hold back? Is it because he's still scared of him? Is it because he's so used to Kei's abuse that it feels weird to do the same thing to his older brother? Is it because in a very twisted and also sad way, it's too hard for him to let Kei go and he actually loves him?

Miki: I decided to go with Find the Light! (Both songs are also from the same album, so yay, they match!) The lyrics sound so much like her T2 version and they actually sound a bit scary in this context: "The light slowly vanishes here in this dark world" (her talking about Milgram in general and how there's three guilty prisoners now and the prisoners' relationships are starting to become more toxic and even her relationship with Eiji is a bit different now), "Loving yesterday but hating tomorrow" (She actually gets to hang out with some prisoners sometimes and she ends up having fun, but then she remembers about Trial 2 and Trial 3.. and yeah, those thoughts scare her), "Only a monochrome black and white is reflected in my eyes" (The whole "Innocent or Guilty" thing), "Pushing back the needle of hopes with a finger" (She really is the guilty prisoners' only hope right now and the innocent prisoners also have to ask her for help too).. Some of them are kinda wholesome though, like "So that even if this voice breaks, cry out with a voice that reaches out to recolor the darkness" or "The smiles that I want to protect are right here".. Miki is such an interesting character to me, because at the same time she's a very naive girl who genuinely wants to help others, but also, just like Eiji, she really wants to be in control. Not for the sake of revenge though, but for the sake of stability. She just wants everything to be peaceful for once. And if anyone tries to disturb the peace, well, here's another reminder that she's still one of the guards.

Again, I wanted to give them one song as a duet and that song is Punishment Game by Kururingo! Like it describes their T2 dynamic so well, or at least that's how Eiji sees their relationship now. Miki is mostly chill about it, but Eiji is slowly starting to see her as a rival. Some moments are so fun to imagine with them too, like "You're wearing that docile expression just to hide your own nervousness, am I right?", "You look like you're enjoying yourself", "You’re trying to keep up that quiet personality, but it’s falling to pieces, I can see it on your face", "No way, could it be that I was the one struggling uselessly this whole time?" and especially "Punishment game, but I'm not laughing, the person on the other end of the strings that move this world, who is it?"/"Hmm, I wonder who it is..".

But if I had to give them separate covers..

Eiji: Hitori Yurari by Kanaria and Maretu! Again, IT'S BECAUSE OF HIS DYNAMIC WITH KEI. IT'S A BIG PART OF HIS CHARACTER PLEASE UNDERSTAND ME. (Or maybe I'm just in that mood because Kei's profile is next and I'm. I'm looking away from his VD. His album trailer voiceline is also such a huge spoiler actually.) But honestly, I'd just love to hear his cover and I think it would sound so cool! The lyrics describe his and Kei's dynamic well too, like Eiji constantly repeating "There's still just no love at all" and also some hints about Kei's past are also there ("You're reeling alone, reeling alone in your dreams, you cried under the shade of a tree in an empty corner") and also lyrics like "Complaining about this and that, you looked down on me, "I love you!", "I hate you!", such an absurd character" and "The way things have gone, I'd prefer it if you'd fall down into hell" AND THE SONG ENDING WITH "I CRIED UNDER THE SHADE OF A TREE IN AN EMPTY CORNER" AND "I WANT TO LIVE WAY LONGER THAN YOU"?? YEAH.

Miki: This one is probably a bit sudden, but.. I decided to go with And Then You Became The Moon by Kikuo. I JUST HAD TO GO WITH A KIKUO SONG FOR HER THIS TIME IDK WHY LIKE I FELT LIKE I HAVE TO DO IT. Now, why this song in particular? Well, this is a cute song about two children playing in the snow and then both of them dying in a blizzard and becoming the Moon and the Star. So, uh.. Miki and Asahi <3 LIKE. THIS SONG SOUNDS SO CUTE AND SO SOFT BUT MIKI SINGING IT MAKES ME SO SAD. She literally thought her little brother died and she blamed herself for it 😭 Honestly, I feel like this song would sound cute as their duet too. I think Andou siblings' voices would sound very soft together. And also the lyrics like "At the very bottom they are together forever" are making me go :') because.. yeah.. It literally took both of them becoming a guard and a prisoner to finally reunite.. So yes, both guards get songs about their siblings this time!

What are your thoughts on Full Metal Daemon Muramasa

i have a few qualms about it.. the worldbuilding is pretty flimsy once you get past the surface (which is a shame bc i was Really Excited at first), w/ particularly questionable takes about indigenous people for example lol, and i feel it's a Touch gratuitous at times but also it's not quite my thing in that regard so whatever. i do think the first eroguro scene's impact is necessary as a contrast of the rest of the chapter as it really sets the tone by hitting you over the head and preparing you for the main themes of the work i really like the musha scenes. i like them being nerdy and info dumping about sky samurai fights. i'm not familiar w/ samurai combat or... fighter jet dogfighting so i dont know how much is like "original research" here but it's such a perfect match. i find combat hit or miss in text-focused work, even vns w/ flashy effects, but the inherent drama of the fights was really intuitive and i never felt like i was being strung along for choreography's sake, like there's a tangible sense of weight to the combat. when someone is in a bad position, i know how bad it is. i like the cockpit effects and animation (although if i HAD to pick, i'd still give muv-luv the win on this one aspect), love the designs. i think it does this sort of militaristic japanese story way better than a lot of similar work, i didn't feel it was overly nationalistic (unlike muv luv for example). it's like a 9/10 vn for me. something that really bugs me is when a piece (fiction or otherwise) never pushes its central idea forward to a new place. obviously everyone is in a different position with where they are educationally or philosophically, so different works target different levels, but soooo much writing that wants to play at the edge of an idea space has no interest in peering over. "welp! isn't that crazy? anyway - go back to your normal life!" it says at the end. nothing new to say. you usually see this kind of thing in like mainstream political talk. "wow things sure are busted. anyway - keep on truckin!" fmdm is the most interesting exploration i've read so far on the morality of killing for justice in fiction. i really think it does its best to push that idea further and really try to dig into what it means at both extremes. i wanted it to give me answers i didnt have, it really made me feel like it *just might*. i dont think it did, although that itself is an answer of a sort, and i really respect it for that. it's hard to recommend to people, especially people who aren't into VNs of this sort to begin with, which i sort of regret, because i think it's really, really compelling

I will never get over the fact that the Black Eagles route is 17 chapters compared to the 26 (?) chapters that the other routes get, with Golden Deer and Church route having near identical stories?!?!??! like they totally could have used that effort to give Edelgard the chance to take down Those Who Slither In The Dark BUT NOOOOOO NOOOO WE DONT GET THAAAT WE DONT GET THE JUSTICE FOR THE WRONG DEALT TO HER AS A KID AND WHY SHE STARTED THE WHOLE WAR NOOOOO

The payoff was horrendous and it just left me sitting bitter and ill towards her route and just her character. It's such a disservice really :oI

I just am very very extra tired of fanservice characters, and especially female characters used for fanservice, so I have a tendency to just disregard the "sexy female" trope in an instant, but it's thanks to my friend that I actually came around and gave Camilla a try and started working through her supports, and honestly, it just makes me hate the. The cutscenes with Camilla more. It just feels (again) like a disservice.

I won't say that I outright hated her? I just felt disappointed by the way the writers frequently portray her. I don't know --

13. An interesting femslash ship? (Canon or otherwise)

OH YAY this is the most recent femslash ship that I fell in love with but Kallen/Sakura from Honkai Impact 3rd !!

I found out that they were actually canon in one of the manga, saying explicitly that they were soulmates (or Kallen the white hair girl saying that "When I first met Sakura, it was like I knew the reason why I was born" lIKE OKAY??!?!?!?!??!? OKAY------)

BUT BUT BUT my heart felt so touched reading through Kallen and Sakura's story, and while I'm still only slowly learning what happened between them (I'm still super new), what I do know and love is that Kallen saved Sakura from falling into absolute despair after being forced to kill her sister to appease the gods of her village, reminding Sakura of the kindness in humanity.

But for whatever reason (I haven't reached this yet BUT I think I'm pretty close actually? idk. if anyone else is reading this and plays hi3, please don't spoil me. ik the game's been out forever but i am absolutely blind to this so i don't want to know :)), Kallen had to seal Sakura away because she houses an evil being within her, but she leaves an artifact that would defend Sakura within the place she seals Sakura and just,, making sure Sakura is never alone and it was soooo ; - ;

I think a bit of it actually reminded me a bit of the ending for Sayaka and Kyoko in PMMM if you know that ! But I sure am particularly weak to knights in shining armor ish stories lmao

considering who's asked this question, i suppose the fun answer would be vibes. and i guess that encapsulates what is the most important part to me---the mood, the tone, the themes they just need to feel right to me. i personally enjoy writing more emotional, character study-esque, introspective fics which is partially from my literature background in literary analyses. don't get me wrong, plot and characters and world-building is fun and all, but i think the emotional crux of the fic is most important to me which is why my tags are less technical or setting-based, and more like 'angst' or 'hurt/comfort' which tends to deal with the emotional gravitas of the work.

i think part of this is done through figurative language, so language is important to me. i think, first and foremost, i'm a poet and that translates to my prose and my fics, which tend to be more poetic, metaphorical filled with grandeur; purple prose if you will.

so this is chapter 8 of the office au i've been writing for f4! i'm pretty far through but im still sorting out some plot details and trying to find time to write it all!

so this is my uber-fave (and only) fiery priest fic that im hella obsessed with right now and i'm soooo close to finishing chapter 4 i just need to power through for a couple hours and i should be done.

this is lawschool fic bc i saw something on pinterest and was inspired. it's all fluff pointless romance really.

this one i've had in my reserves since december when i watched the show and i WAS obsessed bc my man yim siwan needs to portray more green flag cuties but i also wanted horny daebeom

these two are what i like to call my sister fics. they're the folklore and evermore if you will. the sidecouple angst in two different flavours. if you've read beware the villainess, the first is like where she finally manages to get him freed, a post canon work, and the second as the title states, is canon divergence and still angsty but more adultier flavoured. more hurt.

You were driving for about twenty minutes when he finally pulled into a random underground car park and you still had no idea where you were but the smile on Masons face reassured you everything was fine so you took his extended hand and followed him up and out onto the street. UNDERGROUND CAR PARK, IM CLAUSTROPHOBIC, I HOPE SHE'S NOT🤣

‘So I thought long and hard about where to take you tonight. I didn’t wanna take you somewhere random so I’m taking you to a place that’s pretty special to me’ he told you, squeezing your hand lightly as you stopped in front of a cute Italian restaurant. ‘I come here all the time with my family, they sort of know us in here but I’ve never bought a girl before’ he laughed, looking down at you with a nervous smile. ‘We come here for birthdays and anniversaries. Wins, losses, you name it. I hope this is okay’ Oh my god, ill die of cuteness 🫠

I love how they were noisy to know who he was with, but I would have hated it🤣

Dee took you over to table near the back, a round booth that Mason shuffled all the way over in so you were sat next to each other and you smiled up at him when you felt him place his hand on your thigh. ADOIS, ADDIO, ADIEU, GOODBYE 🫠🫠🫠

‘The pleasure is all mine. I always told Mason as soon as he meets his girl he needs to bring her here’ ‘Well here she is’ Mason laughed and you felt yourself blush at his words. I'M NOT GOOD

‘So what do you fancy?’ He asked, opening your menu up so you could look together but the only thing that was jumping out to you were the prices. He caught on straight away and squeezed your thigh so you would look up at him and his kind eyes relaxed you. ‘I asked you out, so it’s my treat yeah?’ I LOVE HOW HE READS HER LIKE AN OPEN BOOK☺️

‘Will you help me?’ You asked and when the waitress came over he ended up ordering for you. You were happy he had because whenever he’d picked was delicious and you almost lost it when he fed you some of his, keeping up his eye contact as you took a bite off his fork. OOOOO😏😏😏

‘Now I know you probably want dessert but i actually have somewhere else for us to go so we’ll have to skip it’ he told you once you were finished and you pouted up at him as he knew you liked to end your meals on something sweet. ‘Don’t worry, the night is still young’ he reassured you and once everything had been paid for and you’d said goodbye to Teddy and Dee, Mason started walking you down the road in the opposite direction of the car. You didn’t ask where you were going as you knew he wouldn’t tell you so you just walked with him until he stopped outside where you needed to be. GOD I LOVE HIM AND HIS CARE TOWARDS HER🩷🫠

‘The cinema?’ You laughed as he led you in but it didn’t look like any one you’d ever been in before and when he took you into the screen your heart gave a thump. The seats you were used to in most cinemas had been replaced with comfy looking sofas and arm chairs and you were pleased to find he’d reserved you a sofa to share. Popcorn, chocolate buttons and a blue raspberry ice blast already sat waiting for you and you lent up to kiss him gently to thank him. ‘This is so cute Mase, thank you’ you laughed as you plonked down next to him, his arm making its way around you shoulders as he pulled you closer. OMG WHERE CAN I FIND A LOZ'S FIC MASON? AND WHERE IS THAT CINEMA?

‘I can tell’ he whispered, bumping his nose against the side of your head before kissing your temple. ‘I love it when you get sassy’ WHO DOESN'T LOVE HER SASSINESS???

He kept teasing you the whole way through, kissing any part of your skin he could reach and stroking his hands over your thighs and waist to the point you had to smack his hands away and tell him to concentrate on the movie as he was missing the best part. You also didn’t know how much more you could handle of him touching you without doing something about it. MASON MOUNT, YOIRE IN A PUBLIC PLACE, TAKE HER IN YOIR PRIVATE CINEMA ROOM NEXT TIME😏

‘Sorry’ he laughed, kissing your nose as he ran his thumb under your bottom lip. ‘Got a bit carried away there. You ready to go?’ NAUGHTY BOY

‘What? Thought you wanted to share a milkshake’ he winked at you before ordering one whilst you laughed besides him. He let you drink most of it on the way back to your flat but you made sure to let him have some too, holding the straw to his mouth so he could take a few sips but you told him you were too full for the rest and you left it for him to finish. OK SO NOSE KISSES AND MC NIGHT DATES ARE THEIR THING DO WE ALL AGREE?

‘Would you like to come in?’ You asked, and you watched the cheeky smirk take over his face as he nodded shyly. THIS IS HIS FIRST PROPER TIME AT HERS, CAN WE ALL CHEER?🥳🥳🥳

‘Oh yeah, you came to pick your charger up when I was hanging out my arse’AHHAHAHHA I love her

‘Me too’ you laughed as you placed your lips to the bridge of his nose which caused him to scrunch it up adorably. ‘Thank you for tonight, I had a really nice time’ FINALLY THE NOSE KISS, I MISSED IT

‘It’s not that I don’t want to, you know… I just don’t wanna rush things’ he explained, kissing your arm gently. ‘And I know if I stay here any longer I’ll never make it to training in the morning’ he laughed which made you smile a bit. ‘Ah there we go, that’s my favourite smile’ he teased which only caused you to laugh more as he pulled you into a hug. ‘We’ll see each other soon though yeah?’ Nope, they need you at training, you have my permission to go, and you two need another date before of it😏😏

‘Of course’ he whispered kissing you again before you walked him to the door. Once he was finally gone you made your way over to the window so you could wave him off like you always did and when he blew you a kiss you felt like the luckiest girl in the world. YOU ARE THE LUCKIEST, DEFINITELY, BUT HE'S EVEN MORE LUCKY 🩷

GOD LOZ, I love this series so much. They are perfect for each other. And you're so good at writing them, I can feel their emotions every time and that's so beautifully overwhelming.

amelda raised by gozabura was my first thought because i love putting my guy in situations and i'm not going to say he'd be worse than seto but i think he'd be a wee bit more unhinged (mokuba relates to him and mokuba was running a gang and poisoning people at 12, is what i'm saying. amelda serial killed his way through the big five instead of firing them, is what i'm saying)

and on seto's end it's soooo fascinating to try and picture how he'd turn out not only without gozabura, but having lost mokuba. i'm throwing him a bone here and instead of mokuba dying let's say seto's fear came true and he was adopted while seto was not (dartz, in the future: that's right! 'twas i that adopted mokuba!') and seto simply. could not find him. I feel like he'd come off as a lot quieter and have a lot more rage directed outward instead of his internally directed 'mustwinmustwinmustwin' neuroses. dartz picked him up right when he'd aged out of orphanages/the foster system and failed at locating mokuba

jounouchi and valon swapping is pretty simple - jounouchi went to rintama and stayed close with hirutani, resulting in him going to prison (honda says he was nearly sent to prison BEFORE high school!!), and valon's nun didn't die -> he didn't kill some dudes -> he stayed out of prison. valon in present day is a lot more reluctant to fight even though he still loves it, while jounouchi is just doing um. fantastic on the mental health front. instead of his focus on luck (his luck ran out once, after all, why should he trust it?) his deck is based on power/brute strength, and he's still waaay more stuck in toxic masculinity due to a lack of knowing yugi especially (until a few years too late). meanwhile valon's just volunteering at a shelter or something

I like the idea of rafael's parents still dying (sorry guy) but his younger siblings living, keeping his team dad vibes from canon. he still dealt with relative bullshit, but managed to get custody of his younger siblings once he was old enough, and consequent of them living is just way less depressed and also less willing to stab people, making him unappealing cult material

yugi meanwhile HAS to lose his grandpa i'm sorry babe. some kind of situation where yugi blamed himself for not preventing it, specifically feeling like he extended too much trust, and when atem went nuclear on the people responsible he just accepted it. yugi in doma is just... yugi without his willingness to give people second chances, or even first ones, and atem in doma is JACKED as fuck power-wise because he's not only high off the orichalcos but he's been penalty-game sacrificing people to the Puzzle nonstop. so you just have this sweet-faced boy with a brittle smile trailing a very animate shadow that sometimes looms up and grows a glowing eye. he'd have occasional doubts about dartz, but with the greatest love i think dartz could easily persuade atem that his reason for being here is bringing justice to the whole world, and lean on yugi's feelings of 'i have to support atem, that's my job' to keep him from protesting anything
