I always have LOVED Hanzo's story (even though I have never played the MK games), because it adds depth to the Mortal Kombat narrative, and I think he is the most complex and relatable character out of all the roster! Not only his tragic backstory (the pain of losing his family and clan) is a relatable source of emotional turmoil, but mostly his primary motivation throughout the series being vengeance, which makes him such a compelling character as he struggles with the internal conflict of whether his actions are justified and whether there is a room for redemption. As a writer, I find this struggle to be such a human emotion; as many people (including me) face difficult decisions in the pursuit of justice or personal vindication.

Also, despite his vengeful and impulsive nature, he has extremely strong sense of honor and loyalty. His commitment and love for his family and protecting his clan showcases a more compassionate side. Having deep and profound canonical relationships with Kenshi and Takeda Takahashi and Kuai Liang (not only in MK game storyline, but in comics and animated series) adds further duality and complexity, as he navigates between his desire for revenge and his sense of honor. I also love his character not entirely being black and white. He is prominently an antihero seeking justice for his fallen clan, and while his methods can be ruthless, blurring the lines between good and evil, he is often found grappling with complex ethical choices as his actions create a multi-dimensional character with whom people can empathize and understand.

Long story short; while I am not as familiar with Wanda's entire story arc as I am only familiar with some Marvel movies, I can definitely say the exact same about your portrayal of Wanda Maximoff as I have went on about Hanzo being a complex and reliable character. I think you convey that complexity which Hanzo and she share remarkably and flawlessly, and I admire that you don't shy away from exploring her darker side as well. Thank you for writing with me as always, and no matter what the verse we write and the different relationships (even different point in our 'main threads,' so to speak) we explore, I will always treasure our interactions!

DISCLAIMER: This is an independent writing blog for an exploration of the Grishaverse character, KAZ BREKKER. I do not own the Grishaverse, its canon characters & materials, or my faceclaim. The lore that I pull from is also not mine. Any headcanons that you see here are mine and mine alone.

PORTRAYAL: This characterization of Kaz is highly critical of his canon material. Nonetheless, I typically default to post-book canon. I am not show-based; however, I do use Freddy Carter as my faceclaim and as such, I utilize content from the show. This does not reflect agreement with the writing done in SAB. I'm currently rereading the Crows duology, which I use for characterization and portrayal framework. Kaz is the leader of the Dregs gang, owner of the Crow Club, and a very good thief. REGARDING SHIPPING: Due to Kaz's trauma and his extreme haphephobia, it isn't a priority of mine to write romantic or sexual dynamics. Also, because I write mostly post-book, I adhere to Kaz's complex feelings for Inej Ghafa. Kaz is difficult to ship with and I will not write him otherwise for the sake of a forced dynamic. I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it is unlikely we will write out that kind of dynamic.

WRITING: This blog is mainly PLOT-BASED. I love world-building and creating complex dynamics between muses. I prefer writing in third person. My default verse for Kaz, as stated above, is set after the Rule of Wolves timeline. He is 23 years old. In his main verse, he is in Ketterdam, the leader of the Dregs, and considered the King of the Barrel. I currently have several modern-based verses found on my main blog's pinned post. However, I am open to creating other alternate verses for ease of plotting and writing if none of those suit!

Kaz is a very violent and unhinged character. I will not water him down for the sake of a better dynamic or to satisfy egos. I will not woobify a murderous criminal. He can and will lash out. He did not become a feared crime boss by doling out mercy. His mercy is cutting off fingers and ripping out eyeballs instead of killing people. If your muse is mouthing off and being smart, he's bound to cause injury. On the flip side, he's smart. Very much so. And he knows better than to strike someone who is very obviously more powerful than he is. Plotting is great for discussing these kinds of interactions! But if you don't think you (or your muse) can handle the aggression and violence of a gang leader, please refrain from interacting.

I am not a Funko Pop. Please don't use this blog as an addition to your Kaz collection. I thrive on story and world building, and I want meaningful interactions and dynamics that are well-developed. I work best when my writing partner and I match energy. With that being said, I have no intention of collecting canon characters either. This one just depicts him as our Friendly Neighborhood Hawaiian Spider-Man .

Who the heck is my muse anyway?

Giovanni was the primary antagonist for the first generation of games in the Pokemon series and has been such an iconic character that he’s made appearances in the anime and manga. Up top of that he’s been referenced multiple times throughout the game series culminating in his return in USUM. He’s the head of the Pokemon world��s version of the yakuza/mafia known as Team Rocket with the ultimate goal of stealing Pokemon for profit so that he can eventually dominate the world.

Points of interest:

My portrayal of Giovanni actually borrows from multiple sources though mostly I lean heavily towards the games and the anime. Game wise you can consider this blog canon divergent since I completely ignore the Tohjo Falls retcon that happened in HGSS. Giovanni might have heard the radio signal from his executives, but he chose not to answer it and therefore never battled the young trainer from New Bark Town.

Giovanni’s identity as the leader of Team Rocket is a well kept secret that very few people know. Though he has a very public identity as both the Viridian City Gym Leader ( which retains a reputation for being the fiercest and strongest gym in Kanto ) and as a wealthy businessman who’s made generous donations across Kanto

Giovanni is still the Viridian City Gym Leader and in fact rebuilt the gym after Ash’s disastrous battle with Jessie and James. Beneath the Viridian City Gym are the main headquarters for Team Rocket and is generally where Giovanni can be found if he’s not travelling.

Giovanni is Ash’s biological father. Over a decade ago, Giovanni met and fell in love with a young girl from Pallet Town. This has been the single most defining relationship he’s ever had as no other woman has ever compared to Delia Ketchum. But when Giovanni learned of his mother’s death and he chose his career over his family and Delia in return, chose to protect her son over Giovanni and left.

I have two main verses: Rocket verse and Exile verse. My Rocket verse is a general verse for all scenarios that involve Giovanni as head of Team Rocket whether it’s pre-series or post-series in a scenario where he never disbanded Team Rocket. Exile verse is more game oriented and follows the period of time in which Giovanni disbanded Team Rocket and went solo. Although this verse can also apply to scenarios in which Giovanni might have disbanded Team Rocket for different reasons unrelated to the events that happened in the games.  

What they’ve been up to recently:

ROCKET VERSE: Giovanni is currently in the midst of launching Team Rocket’s expansion into the Kalos region after the fall of Team Flare. Though it’s been slow going as he’s facing opposition from outside sources along with remnant Team Flare factions.

EXILE VERSE: Giovanni is currently in Alola mostly to keep an eye on his sons, but also to learn more about the pokemon unique to the region. Mostly though he’s disgruntled and unimpressed with the people and the customs of the region.

CONQUEROR VERSE: having made the discovery of other worlds Giovanni has made plans to conquer the entire multiverse. He is king of his world and intends on being king of several first by taking what resources and research he can while he expands his empire.

Where to find them:

MAIN VERSE / MOST VERSES: Viridian City either at Team Rocket Headquarters or in his personal estate. 

EXILE VERSE:  Generally in his summer home outside of  Hau'oli City, though this verse tends to vary a lot as Giovanni will travel quite a bit.

CONQUERER VERSE: in what is considered TRR headquarters located in an unknown realm that shifts from reality to reality as Giovanni moves to invade another world.

Current plans:

KALOS EXPANSION: with Lysandre dead and Team Flare effectively gone, Giovanni has plans to further Team Rocket’s reach by adding the Kalos region under his control.

RECONCILE WITH SILVER: in the Exile verse, with Team Rocket disbanded Giovanni has come to the slow realisation that his son is the most important part of his life that he’s been ignoring for so long. Unfortunately that relationship has been falling apart for years and he’ll readily accept Silver’s decision if he chooses to cut ties with his father. But until that happens, he’ll do what he can rebuild what he can with his on.

Desired interactions:

More Rocket interactions: I don’t do enough of these. I know there are quite a few Team Rocket blogs floating around, but strangely I’ve yet to get off my ass and plot things out with them.

Early Life/Rise to power: I’ve always wanted to explore this part of Giovanni’s life, basically his teen years to when he becomes head of Team Rocket.

Mafia verse: I have a mafia verse sitting here that I very rarely touch and I want to use it since I’m trash for mafia stuff. I mean look at the character I’m roleplaying, is this really a surprise anymore?

A different choice: lately it’s been really rattling around in my head how different Giovanni would be if he didn’t choose Team Rocket. What kind of man would he be without the corrupting and enabling influence of his organisation? What career would he choose? Would he still just be a criminal anyway? All that stuff that I want to explore.

Recruiting: nothing tickles me more when Giovanni manages to convince someone to join Team Rocket.

Hunting: Giovanni personally hunting down a traitor = fun times

Marriage of convenience: Giovanni marrying someone for advantage. No romance. Nothing. Him and his partner are in this fully knowing that the marriage is a sham. Bonus points of Giovanni ends up divorcing later.

Down with the law: Giovanni evading the law is A+++, especially if it’s with Looker or Anabel.

Offered interactions:

Need a boss? Giovanni is your man as he offers a stable job with great benefits and you’re unlikely to have a boring day.

He’s totally not a dad: if your character needs a dad, then Giovanni is here to fill that role.

Mentor: something Giovanni will very rarely admit and hardly realises himself is that he actually enjoys teaching, but it’d take extenuating circumstances for him to admit that much

Antagonist: well duh, he’s a villain. He’s here to ruin your day if you need it.

I happen to have a few pet peeves when roleplaying that I’d appreciate my partners to take into consideration:

Nothing makes me drop a thread faster than characters who have no business knowing that Giovanni is the head of Team Rocket since this is a secret that he’s taken great pains in hiding. There’s canon evidence for this in the games and in nearly every version of anime. So unless your character is a super great at information gatherer as in that’s their career and they have the resources or they’re a high ranking member of Team Rocket, your character should not instantly recognise him as the Rocket Leader.

While it’s a fun little jab OOC now and then, if you seriously start an interaction with me where your character is basically “lol you got defeated by an eleven year old” I’m dropping the thread. In a world where EVERY trainer who isn’t the protag in EVERY game was basically defeated by an eleven year old trainer, this is god damn irritating. And also in character wise? Giovanni wouldn’t put up with that kind of mockery anyway.

Don’t force headcanons on me. Don’t. If you have headcanons that involve Giovanni in some way, discuss them with me and find a middle ground. I really dislike when people make assumptions about my character.

Primary Verses

Main - Basically set after the ToP, this is a composite universe that borrows from multiple portrayals of Goku

Newborn God - Set during the year between Battle of Gods, and Resurrection of F, Goku has obtained Godly Ki and is now training with renewed vigor.

Freeza Beater, Double Title-Taker - After Resurrection of F’, Goku’s unlocked Supersaiyan God Super Saiyan (called Stable Super Saiyan God, or Pure Super Saiyan God because it doesn’t sound so suckish.) (NOW called Super Saiyan Blue)

Back To The Future IV - Set after The Goku Black arc, now Goku and friends are preparing for the ToP

After(”canon”) Death Battle - Goku battled Superman, and lost. However, they didn`t destroy Earth in the process, and even if Goku HAD died he was brought back with the Dragon Balls after the misunderstanding was cleared up. This Goku can access Super Saiyan forms between 1-4, but lacks Godly Ki.

After After Death Battle - Goku's been training hard, now he has Godly Ki, and has developed the mentality of only improving his base and super saiyan forms.

Time of Peace - Before Battle of Gods, but after beating Kid Buu. Earth is experiencing a brief period of peace.

Choices in Direction

Personality: Given that the source material is the manga, I go with the personality a bit more there, with Goku not being a “righteous hero” but a pretty selfish character who wants to be the best. Why does he save Earth? A) He likes people who are there and B) The tough guys all seem to want to destroy it…. Soooo yeah a good hobby to have if you want to be the best. Not very altruistic, but can you really argue with results like those? With that in mind, I feel like all portrayals of Goku in media are valid, and likely whatever media I’m consuming most recently will most notably color my portrayal.

Goku’s SO and RO: My Goku is ace, but still sexually active (how do you explain his kids?) mostly because of much of his behavior with people and a lack of any real sex drive from what we can see, despite other male characters having a very active libido. Simply put, Goku’s more interested in training than sex. Romantic Orientation, however, is probably more of a heteroromantic, at least canon-indicated given the only real romantic relationships he’s been in. This is pretty much how I’m playing Goku. This may not necessarily apply to other versions of my muse, particularly ones where he’s a Saiyan Warrior proper, but generally assume that he’s not interested in what you’ve got.

Super Saiyan 4 in The Death Battle Universe: There’s really not a good way to justify it, tbh XD. So I’ve pretty much decided to go with he got his tail back (probably through some mystical means) after finding out the only way to push his Super Saiyan abilities was to use it with Oozaru. He just hides it most of the time, as a belt or something, since having it wiggle around is a weakness and probably throws off his balance, given the time he hasn’t had a tail being literal decades from this point.

Thoughts on Superman Vs. Goku: Superman would clearly win the first match, for me jury’s still out on a rematch (my opinion took about a year before I finally figured out who I totally agreed with, but I REALLY don’t like Screwattack’s argument; being that “oh no limits, but even if Goku broke the limit that is Superman he’d be boring”) so yeah. Additionally, with Goku breaking the limit of how physics works in regards to shockwaves, more and more things start to come into his favor.

It’s since been learned by me that the creators of Death Battle are biased cucklords who intentionally nerfed some of Goku’s numbers, and based on them feeling the need to actually lower the numbers their argument relies so heavily on, I call into question whether Clark would have even won their first fight, given how much faster Goku is than Superman’s most comparable speed feats (keep in mind that DB refused to use a composite Goku but were more than happy to use a composite Superman if they could get away with fooling you into believing it was the same Superman) I doubt Clark could have kept up with Goku, and the measurements of Goku’s durability and maximum output are FAR lower than what Goku’s base form should be (keep in mind that a base form Freeza could destroy a planet with three times as much mass as Earth with hardly any effort, and Goku was able to fight on pretty even grounds with a non-100% Final Form Freeza, and that doesn’t account for Goku’s development and Zenkai boosts after).

Basically I feel like the second battle would never have been necessary, Goku would have won the first time, but I will still choose to keep my original DB AUs calling them the “canon” AUs for the Death Battle universes. But I will also likely roleplay the more accurate version in which they fought in the first one, Goku was the victor, and the misunderstanding was cleared up.

   so i’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about where i draw my inspiration / characteristics / mannerisms etc. for lois. obviously there have been MULTIPLE incarnations of lois overtime, both on screen & in the comics. my own portrayal is a blend of several universes/versions in my main verse. below are the SOURCE MATERIALS i use:

COMICS, my primary influence. mostly from the modern age (mos miniseries - forward.) early age influences for backstory. some rebirth aus concerning her family + jon. n52 is cancelled.

DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE, including man of steel, doj comic issues, bvs: ult. edition, + justice league(with alterations - lois never wrote fluff pieces & instead took assignments abroad while checking in on martha.)

SUPERMAN (1978) + SUPERMAN II:THE RICHARD DONNER CUT. omitting the second 2 sequels.mostly characterisation + reporting ethic. also her relationship w/ clark, jimmy & perry.

THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN. primarily season 1 based. again, focusing on her dedication to her profession as well as key personality traits. also her haircut lmao.

SMALLVILLE. pretty much all i use is some parts of her backstory + traits + abilities only.

LOIS LANE YA NOVELS. personality/characteristics only. including fallout, double down, + triple threat.

  i do not write based on anything from the early animated / live action shorts, the jl animated verse in general , injustice, superman returns,  or dc bombshells ( no matter how much i love this run tbh. ) mostly because i either haven’t seen them yet, or disagree with their portrayal.

my main faceclaim is AMY ADAMS, due to consistency & her look, which i believe fits the modern-age loispretty well. my blog is pretty much a fusion of dceu, comic, + cinematic versions within a dceu timeline. i do not use different faceclaims / verses based on media ( with the exception of comics timeline vs. cinematic )unless upon request, because it would be like writing multiple different characters. instead, my lois is what i view to be most true to her character, using most her historically important virtues / qualities, drawing only from materials that stay true to her character - while residing in a specific premise to prevent confusion & maximise development.

SPECIFIC KEY TRAITS concerning my portrayal !

 when it comes to her personality, the main characteristics i stick to include STUBBORNNESS, EMPATHY, + A THIRST FOR THE TRUTH.

lois is incredibly ASSERTIVE, sometimes arrogant, & believes in getting the story by ANY MEANS necessary. including engaging in undercover journalism. however, she is not above her ownPROFESSIONALISM & PRIDE. i,e no pole dancing in usa underwear for her ( hi smallville.)

she’s a JOURNALIST. lois ! does ! not ! do it ! for ! the awards ! it’s NEVER about the pulitzer, its neverabout her pride,she is ambitious, yes. she wants to make a name for herself based upon her own deeds, whic is , fundamentally, revealing the deeds of others. she seeks to be the best at what she does because of her nature, but also because she KNOWS her work is for the good of mankind..sometimes its for the promotion - but its ALWAYS FOR THE TRUTH. its at the heart of her job. it overrules any personal desire she might have. always. she knows her worth & doesn’t care about others respecting her. its about how she views herself.

lois is DEEPLY EMPATHETIC & COMPASSIONATE. she reviews each article on a case-by-case basis: she is extraordinarily intelligent in measuring people’s strength & potential, which factors into her choice not to give clark up to the authorities in mos. she lets her heart guide her, but her head lead her. she mayappear all brains, but she is a deeply sensitive, feeling person inside - which she often keeps bottled up.

lois is a MILITARY BRAT. an air force brat, to be specific - which affected her childhood deeply. her father, who often subjected her family to emotional abuse due to his own rank & disorders, was killed in action. she is trained in physical & emotional strength, & can engage in hand-to-hand combat as well as the use of arms. in addition, lois has quite a tough exterior, in snyder’s words: ‘ ALL BRAIN, MASKING A WARM HEART . ‘

she can be quite SASSY, no-nonsense, & occasionally abrupt with her co-workers - but with her interviews, she is usually courteous & MINDFUL yet quite direct. she has soft features, & a gentle voice - but iron words, & can raise to a general’s shout if she pleases. hell hath no fury like lois lane. she is quitedaring, but not necessarily ambitious - nothing she does is ever quite for her own benefit.

 i will elaborate on certain parts of my portrayal in the future, including motifs, symbols, mannerisms, history, motive + behaviour more extensively in separate posts, but i just wanted to give a general idea of what i’m going for here/ if you made this far, thanks for reading <3.

Who the heck is my muse anyway?

Giovanni was the primary antagonist for the first generation of games in the Pokemon series and has been such an iconic character that he’s made appearances in the anime and manga and has been referenced multiple times throughout the game series. He’s the head of the Pokemon world’s version of the yakuza/mafia known as Team Rocket with the ultimate goal of stealing Pokemon for profit so that he can eventually dominate the world. 

Points of interest:

My portrayal of Giovanni actually borrows from multiple sources though mostly I lean heavily towards the games and the anime. Game wise you can consider this blog canon divergent since I completely ignore the Tohjo Falls retcon that happened in HGSS. Giovanni might have heard the radio signal from his executives, but he chose not to answer it and therefore never battled the young trainer from New Bark Town.

Giovanni’s identity as the leader of Team Rocket is well kept secret that very few people know. Though he has a very public identity as both the Viridian City Gym Leader ( which retains a reputation for being the fiercest and strongest gym in Kanto ) and as a wealthy businessman who’s made generous donations across Kanto

Giovanni is still the Viridian City Gym Leader and in fact rebuilt the gym after Ash’s disastrous battle with Jessie and James. Beneath the Viridian City Gym are the main headquarters for Team Rocket and is generally where Giovanni can be found if he’s not travelling.

Giovanni is Ash’s biological father. Though the only Ash I’ll acknowledge this with is @ofpalletown​. Over a decade ago, Giovanni met and fell in love with a young girl in Pallet Town. This has been the single most defining relationship he’s ever had as no other woman has ever compared to Delia Ketchum. But when Giovanni learned of his mother’s death and he learned that Delia was pregnant, Giovanni chose his career over his family and left Delia in the middle of the night without a word.

I have two main verses: Rocket verse and Exile verse. My Rocket verse is a general verse for all scenarios that involve Giovanni as head of Team Rocket whether it’s pre-series or post-series in a scenario where he never disbanded Team Rocket. Exile verse is more game oriented and follows the period of time in which Giovanni disbanded Team Rocket and went solo. Although this verse can also apply to scenarios in which Giovanni might have disbanded Team Rocket for different reasons unrelated to the events that happened in the games.  

What they’ve been up to recently:

ROCKET VERSE: Giovanni is currently in the midst of launching Team Rocket’s expansion into the Kalos region after the fall of Team Flare. Though it’s been slow going as he’s facing opposition from outside sources along with remnant Team Flare factions.

EXILE VERSE: Giovanni is currently in Alola mostly to keep an eye on his sons, but also to learn more about the pokemon unique to the region. Mostly though he’s disgruntled and unimpressed with the people and the customs of the region.

Where to find them:

MAIN VERSE / MOST VERSES: Viridian City either at Team Rocket Headquarters or in his personal estate. Though lately he’s been spending more time in a certain house in Pallet Town.

EXILE VERSE:  Generally in his summer home outside of  Hau'oli City, though this verse tends to vary a lot as Giovanni will travel quite a bit.

PREQUEL VERSE: As a guest in Delia Ketchum’s home in Pallet Town

Current plans:

KALOS EXPANSION: with Lysandre dead and Team Flare effectively gone, Giovanni has plans to further Team Rocket’s reach by adding the Kalos region under his control.

RECONCILE WITH SILVER: in the Exile verse, with Team Rocket disbanded Giovanni has come to the slow realisation that his son is the most important part of his life that he’s been ignoring for so long. Unfortunately that relationship has been falling apart for years and he’ll readily accept Silver’s decision if he chooses to cut ties with his father. But until that happens, he’ll do what he can rebuild what he can with his on.

Desired interactions:

More Rocket interactions: I don’t do enough of these. I know there are quite a few Team Rocket blogs floating around, but strangely I’ve yet to get off my ass and plot things out with them.

Early Life/Rise to power: I’ve always wanted to explore this part of Giovanni’s life, basically his teen years to when he becomes head of Team Rocket.

Mafia verse: I have a mafia verse sitting here that I very rarely touch and I want to use it since I’m trash for mafia stuff. I mean look at the character I’m roleplaying, is this really a surprise anymore?

A different choice: lately it’s been really rattling around in my head how different Giovanni would be if he didn’t choose Team Rocket. What kind of man would he be without the corrupting and enabling influence of his organisation? What career would he choose? Would he still just be a criminal anyway? All that stuff that I want to explore.

Recruiting: nothing tickles me more when Giovanni manages to convince someone to join Team Rocket.

Hunting: Giovanni personally hunting down a traitor = fun times

Marriage of convenience: Giovanni marrying someone for advantage. No romance. Nothing. Him and his partner are in this fully knowing that the marriage is a sham. Bonus points of Giovanni ends up divorcing later.

Down with the law: Giovanni evading the law is A+++, especially if it’s with Looker or Anabel.

Offered interactions:

Need a boss? Giovanni is your man as he offers a stable job with great benefits and you’re unlikely to have a boring day.

He’s totally not a dad: if your character needs a dad, then Giovanni is here to fill that role. 

Mentor: something Giovanni will very rarely admit and hardly realises himself is that he actually enjoys teaching, but it’d take extenuating circumstances for him to admit that much

Antagonist: well duh, he’s a villain. He’s here to ruin your day if you need it.

I happen to have a few pet peeves when roleplaying that I’d appreciate my partners to take into consideration: 

Nothing makes me drop a thread faster than characters who have no business knowing that Giovanni is the head of Team Rocket since this is a secret that he takes great pains in hiding. There’s canon evidence for this in the games and in nearly every version of anime. So  unless your character is a super great at information gatherer as in that’s their career and they have the resources or they’re a high ranking member of Team Rocket, your character should not instantly recognise him as the Rocket Leader.

While it’s a fun little jab OOC now and then, if you seriously start an interaction with me where your character is basically “lol you got defeated by an eleven year old” I’m dropping the thread. In a world where EVERY trainer who isn’t the protag in EVERY game was basically defeated by an eleven year old trainer, this is god damn irritating. And also in character wise? Giovanni wouldn’t put up with that kind of mockery anyway.

Don’t force headcanons on me. Don’t. If you have headcanons that involve Giovanni in some way, discuss them with me and find a middle ground. I really dislike when people make assumptions about my character.
