On tour with Vivi: The Duchess of Laye makes her stunning debut on the international stage with her Maritrean tour

The Duke and Duchess of Laye wrapped up their first international tour on May 20th. With more than 20 planned engagements in five countries in just nine days, the pressure was on for the Duchess’s style team.

“Dressing for a tour would have been a new challenge,” said former royal stylist Katarina Lynx. “A tour involves more logistical considerations than domestic engagements. IF you’re popping down to the clinic to visit patients, you can send someone back for a change of shoes. On tour, you don’t have that option.”

Throughout the tour, Vivi struck the perfect balance between royal polish and unbothered ease. She chose seasonally appropriate sleeveless and short-sleeved dresses for her springtime tour, favoring lighter fabrics and and pastel tones like lavender and lilac. The Duchess played princess with full skirts and structured bodices. Several of her looks featured sweet puff sleeves, echoing her iconic bridal gown, while breezy blowouts and understated makeup looks kept her youthful and not overdone or fussy.

When I got back from the beach Monday evening, I brought back like... 7 pounds of fudge with me and most of that fudge was chocolate and peanut butter and/or had peanut butter in it somehow. There were only three pieces that didn't and they were either birthday cake flavored or cookie monster.

I was able to identify a doll at a thrift store that wasn't in box simply off of her body shape, face mold and dress based off a commercial I had seen for her only a couple times

I'm teaching myself Italian right now so I can teach kids how to speak Italian cause the teacher I'm long-term subbing for teaches both French and Italian and I know enough French to teach that but barely any Italian

Are there any large-scale alliances that are present in your world? How did they come about and how are they maintained? And are they strained or peaceful?

Hello, I talked about a lot of that stuff in a previous answer I got! But yes, there are a lot of foreign alliances that are basically just like the ones that exist IRL (since my story is basically set in a parallel world similar to our own).

So there are versions of NATO and the UN, most of these allences for formed in the 20th century following WWII with the intended goal of mainting a coalition and peacekeeping at an international level. However, that sometimes isn't always the case.

Let's get on it and answer this ones with Alistair, as I never talk about him and I actually LOVE him!

038. What bad habits do they have?

Alistair's WORST habit is closing in on himself. It happened to him after his father's death and almost cost him his marriage. He also tends to drink when this happens to him so the mix is ​​quite problematic.

050. How does your character feel about their own mortality?

Alistair is terribly afraid of death, he doesn't like to talk about it and it's a taboo subject in his house. Obviously, the fact that his father was murdered contributes to the fact. Therefore, the security in the palace is quite heavy.

061. Does your character prefer adventure or safety and security?

Related to the previous question, my favorite monarch is a quiet man in that sense, so adventure is pretty much out of the question, generally. However, as a young man he loved extreme sports, even competing in several surfing championships in Sulani Bay.

070. What about your character is cowardly?

Alistair IS a coward. He is afraid of what they say about his family, that they will attack them in any way, of making strong decisions, death… They are quite important fears and, I understand, with a certain common sense. However, this cowardice prevents him from being happy on many occasions.

100. Does your character dream? If so, what do they dream about?

I wouldn't describe him as a dreamer, but I do think he has little frustrated dreams. The first, being able to enjoy his family more before ascending the throne, since his father died relatively young and he did not have in mind becoming king at 33 years of age. In addition, having been a father so young made him give up on many others. Now, as the head of the family, he wishes he could move to a farm with his wife and grow old together, probably taking care of rabbits or something.

the people

in so many ways, my goal was to build community this year. oddly enough, i limited that experience to just in-person, forgetting (and sometimes neglecting) the community built here. community that cares for and contributes to my story and my person. so, thank you to those people, you know who you are.

i want to give a special shoutout to @armoricaroyalty again for affirming for me that community comes in many forms and has many tethers. time spent on discord has made life and my story better. thank you.

Jacques and Vivi embark on 9-day international tour

BREIZH -  The Duke and Duchess of Laye were all smiles as they embarked on the first leg of their planned 9-day tour of Maritrea, their first official overseas trip as a family of three. The Layes’ packed itinerary features five countries in just nine days, with planned stops in Ilvalian, Nalore (@atreanroyals) Illyria (@the-lancasters) Orillia (@theroyalthrones​), and Aducia (@ardeney-sims​). The couple are joined on tour by 15-month-old Prince Hugo, who is slated to make his first official public appearance during the Layes’ stay in Aducia.

It should be noted the inclusion of HRH The Duke of Rothes created quite the media speculation after the Duke was notable absent for several years following the abdication of his role as heir. Many proposed, the Duke's inclusion was meant to finally put to rest the years of speculation that there was bad blood between the royal household and the former heir. The Press office has stayed silent regarding the matter which continues to be a topic of discussion.

OC Height Tag

This was something cool I was tagged in this game by @morrigan-sims! I spent a lot of time thinking about this, so it took longer than I expected. It was hard for me to think of who to include and who not to include. Ultimately, I didn't include children, because they'll be growing very fast as the story progresses. I also included Alex's future spouse, as you can see. The ??? isn't to be vague, I literally don't have a name for her yet and what I do call her "the cult wife" is well . . . not that great. So, suggestions? I'm looking for very crunchy, almond mom names that are not too uncommon. Like Dawn or Sutton or Amethyst.

I knew some things (Louis and Irene being the same height, Alex and Arthur being taller than their big brothers, Ruby being "fun-sized", etc.) but it's really great to have this visual guide for future reference. There are also some funny things here, like James II being shorter than Katherine despite all their joint portraits showing him towering over her like Godzilla. I discussed Katherine's height causing her to get smaller tiaras as a newlywed HERE.
