Goodness knows what this soup will look like when the immersion blender finally hits it, but right now it smells glorious. Wanted to make a more interesting/nutritionally diverse version of leek and potato soup, so we roasted russets, Yukon golds, cauliflower, and a couple of parsnips with some turmeric and cumin, caramelized some sweet onion in a little bacon fat and butter, deglazed with chicken broth, and sautéed two gigantic leeks with that. Bought some leeks, never used them before. Added them to ground venison, two bulbs of garlic, white miso paste, spices, tri color potatoes, and seaweed.
