hello i came across your page and found you super interesting and a good source to go to when in need of some not sugarcoated opinions
im an army, been an army for a bit more than four years and just a few months ago i got super into enhypen and now well im obsessed
ive given other groups a chance… no one and when i say no one did it for me like enha i can’t believe they managed to turn the scale with bts for me im obsessed with both of them and now i have 14 babies
enha are really captivating and theres smth abt them thst idk its just special HOWEVER lets be real they are not doing so good with streams and charting and it pisses me off like crazy bc god do they deserve a lot more and i keep thinking what is it that they lack?
so i wanted to ask you do you think enha would make it big (armys pls dont come for me at the comparsion) but do u think they would make it big like bts? and secondly what are they lacking as a group in terms of everything (music, style, personalities, personas… etc)
***
Let's get the obvious out of the way lol. Unless it's a group from Big3, it's going to be near impossible for any currently active group to become as big as BTS this decade. For Big3 + HYBE groups, it's possible but difficult. Enhypen surprisingly doesn't follow BTS's playbook as closely as some other groups do. The three boy groups most closely following BTS's playbook right now, are:
RIIZE - in their whole concept being a coming of age odyssey with a rap-spin;
Stray Kids - practically everything about Stray Kids is BTS-inspired (and it's something I've talked about before);
Ateez - it's in their lore-heavy branding and performance focus, also utilizing rappers.
The key thing lacking for those three groups in reference to following BTS's playbook, in my opinion, is the music. Other things too, but it's the music that's the key limiting factor here. This doesn't kill their momentum and I'm not exactly saying the music bad, just that going by my taste, there's a lot of room for improvement.
ENHYPEN doesn't lack at all in the music department. I'm probably biased but it's also true many of their songs are produced by BigHit's team of producers who made the music that got BTS this big and who generally make stuff I like. So, Enha's got great songs, but like I've said before, currently, they're not a rap-focused or even rap-present group, and it's unusual for vocal-centered boy groups to become massively popular unless they're from SM, and even then, rap groups still outperform... I mean, we've seen that movie before.
But to follow BTS's playbook, they'll have to mitigate this lack of rappers - Bang PD/Belift has to push for more involvement from ENHYPEN into their song-making process. Having members with writing credits helps to show a more direct connection between the members and the song. It adds to a sense of ownership and legitimacy for a lot of fans (whether or not it actually reflects it). So far, in ENHYPEN Jake and Jay have contributed to songwriting and it's been very good. Ni-ki also takes part in making choreography. But for Enhypen to grow massively, the members need to be seen having more direct and consistent input into the creative process, whatever form that takes. Also, if I were them I'd lean even more into their choral, hiphop sound. Nobody does it like them and it's pure magic.
Also, ENHYPEN's lore is somewhat clumsily tacked into their MVs, making it difficult for people to understand the group's identity. Enha is a 'concept group'. Their concept trailers are beautifully shot, frankly a work of high cinema, something beyond the quality of most MVs. But then, all that complexity and subtext kinda disappears in their main MVs. Maybe it's because I've never been a theorist, but the presentation of lore symbolism in their MVs can be confusing and difficult to parse even with reading the WEBTOON. Ateez's lore by comparison is in a sense, 'simpler'. People might struggle to understand what ENHYPEN is and connect with them, when as a concept-heavy group, their lore is difficult to understand. It's up to Engenes to better compile and present the narratives around the group, to get more people to connect with them.
ENHYPEN are easily some of the best performers in their generation, but because of their style of music (vocal-heavy, limited rap/chanting verses paired with intricate choreography and floor-work), live concert performances can be very challenging. They pull it off amazingly well, but I worry for them tbh. Here, Ateez has figured out a formula that works to keep their performance energy consistently high: rely on simple rap/chant verses, focus on open, simple choreography that travels across the stage, and utilize props to add to drama.
Like I said earlier, Enha's music-scape and choreos add a layer of difficulty that make it harder to replicate BTS in terms of performance, as they currently are. Enha's vocals would need to improve, as will their stamina, to bridge the gap. But they are well on their way to getting there. If thing's continue to improve like it has so far, within a year or so they'll be seen as beasts. They're already incredible, but if they keep growing it will become more apparent to more people the unique mix of talent that exists in Enhypen.
Because that's what you saw that made you write this:
"a few months ago i got super into enhypen and now well im obsessed
ive given other groups a chance… no one and when i say no one did it for me like enha i can’t believe they managed to turn the scale with bts for me im obsessed with both of them and now i have 14 babies"
All seven of them are naturally, incredibly charismatic, and they seem to be very decent and talented people. That's why you're obsessed. Lol. In my view, Enhypen at their core is a high-performing hiphop team that does 'haunting and dramatic' contemporary pieces extremely well. Their performances are insanely intricate, and it frustrates me to no end that it's usually near impossible to translate all of what's happening in the practice to a stage performance.
Take for example their MMA2023 dance break:
youtube
It's been a source of fiery debate in my group chat since it dropped and I'm not even kidding. The amount of floor work, the precision, Heeseung, Ni-ki, Jungwon, Jay, Sunghoon's dance styles show best in krump breaks like this. Ni-Ki and Sunghoon trained in ballet and as a figure skater, respectively, and you can see it in how they move. Jungwon is a powerhouse, and Heeseung and Jay embody the sort of dual charisma that one can only be born with. You either have it, or you don't. They're all special and this is a performance that is just that good. But with the camerawork of the main show, the clashing outfits with the backup dancers, the poor lighting, means so much of this performance can be missed. The boys still did amazing. But when you see the practice and see what it's supposed to look like, it hits you just how limited they are by their intricate performances not captured better on stage. Engenes can work around this by hyping up good fancams, and dance practices that capture their effort.
The final thing I want to say in where ENHYPEN is lacking, is one in which it physically pains me because this is easy to fix: American roadshows/interviews. BTS had only one barely fluent English-speaker but he was also the person often most involved in making the music, and so he could better respond to questions about it. The rest of the group also made up for not being fluent English-speakers by doing comedic antics while remaining as engaged as possible in the interview. The person who usually contributes to Enhypen's American interviews is Jake for obvious reasons, sometimes Jay, but each time I've watched Jake speak he seems worse than unprepared. To be blunt. It's not enough for a group to show up on Western talk shows, they also have to effectively communicate who they are and why they're special. Enhypen does this so much better in variety content like this:
youtube
this too:
youtube
But in situations like this interview below, it's clear Jake sometimes struggles to explain some things, but he recovers quickly later in the interview.
youtube
Jungwon answers questions very well but speaks in Korean. It's fine, but working on his English can only be a positive in this scenario. For Jake too.

Hiiii KW💓💓💓 Im so nervous writing this, you have no idea, i dont usually do this kind of stuff such as commenting or sending asks, but i couldn’t keep myself from sending this to you (this is like my first time ever doing this on tumblr). Anyways, i just wanted to personally THANK YOU, like a million times,- for writing this masterpiece, LDBS is literally my all time favorite fanfic out there, im so fucking glad that i stumbled upon it when i was searching for something new to read, ive been reading fanfics for years now, and theres VERY few stories that truly impact me in a way yours did, im extremely picky with what i read, everything from grammar, plot, characters and all the details in-between matter to me, and everything about your story and characters (especially Kilian, i love her) is just perfect, i can’t even put it into words, just how perfect your story is, truly. Ive read your other works as well and was not disappointed in the slightest, your writing style is immaculate, just brilliant, for real! Im also a huuuge perfume enthusiast and when i found out that the title of your story and even Kilian’s name was inspired by a REAL fragrance (last chapter when she bought it herself), i fucken lossssttt it dude, I immediately had to search it up and boom there it was, i was over the moon, i love sweet fragrances and am always on the lookout for new ones and sure enough, I’m definitely gonna buy this one! And all those times throughout the story when her perfume would leave traces/sillage and Levi would recognize the scent (marshmallows, orange blossom and vanilla) is just such a clever and perfect detail to add into the story, i didn’t think your story could amaze me more than it already had, but damn was i wrong xD Kilian is the ultimate femme fatale idc what anyone says, everything about her character is what i love love loooveeeee in a female lead, this is the first time I’ve stumbled upon a female lead where everything is just the way i like it, i have a feeling your story actually even changed me in a way, i cant explain it but it definitely found its way through into a special part of my heart, it has both inspired and impacted me in the most wonderful ways. Please continue doing what you do, you are extremely talented and I’m super excited for the next chapters to come! I’m forever thankful to you for writing this amazing masterpiece, i love it and i love you 💕 (Damn i wrote a whole ass paragraph, my apologies :’) i got carried away)
Hi my love!! This ask genuinely made my day, and I am so thankful you sent it especially considering you normally don’t do this. Thank YOU for taking time out of your day to message me. I am so touched that you love LDBS as much as you do. And I totally feel you regarding pickiness and finding fics so that means even more to me that you like the story so much!!! 🥺❤️💕💝
This story means a lot to me and I always hope the love and passion I have for it translates through the text, so anytime I receive special sweet messages like this, I know you guys see it and feel it. I am also super happy you love Kilian because she totally is a femme fatale! All my favs, like Selina Kyle, Poison Ivy, Ada Wong, and Villanelle smashed into one but with her own characteristics obviously. I worked really hard to round out her character (as well as everyone elses') so anytime I receive an ask like this, it reaffirms that my hard work paid off!
Also I love how so many of you are discovering the Kilian perfume (specifically the LDBS one LOL) through this story. It’s my fav perfume! One of them anyway, and I love that you guys wanna try it. It is super sweet in its scent but that’s what I normally go for, so you must let me know if you buy and like it!
Thank you thank you for this message, I love YOU and I’m thankful you sent this to me. You have nothing to apologize for because trust me when I say I read every word, and I am appreciative of your sweet message. :3 Enjoy your day and thank you again! 😭❤️

makoharu fic rec list? 🙏
Oh gosh, where do I even begin with this!! So many fics I love, and sooooo many amazing authors, some who I’ve even been lucky enough to become friends with! I’ll do my best to include as many as possible and that I remember (it’s been a while since I went through my favorite fics, and I’ve read so many that keeping track is difficult. Like you really have no idea. there’s 24 pages of history in my AO3 account, and that doesn’t include one’s I’ve read while not logged in. So you can imagine, it’s hard to separate them all in memory).
But first, a few quick things:
1. These are in NO particular order, just as I found them in my history :)
2. Sorry this took me so long to answer, I got caught up re-reading a few of them while I was trying to refresh my memory...
3. Don’t be surprised most of them are NSFW. I tend to filter my fics specifically looking for it because I’m a shameless hoe so sue me
4. My descriptions are super unhelpful and mostly just my thoughts about the fic but not actually a summary of it. I recommend reading the summaries and tags as they’re listed on AO3 for more details and sensitive content warnings!
Here we go!
(NSFW)
Frenzied by Thesis - I always always ALWAYS recommend this fic. It’s one of those ones I still go back to and read sometimes. It’s wonderfully suspenseful, so angsty and full of delicious smut and has a happy ending, so like, what’s not to like? 1000% a favorite fic of mine.
Dead Reckoning by furiosity - lol my AO3 history says I visited this fic 55 times if that doesn’t say how much I love it I don’t know what else will
I drove all night (to get to you) by maybeillride - This one is short, but I really like the way it reads, it has a great flow and overall the tone is just super captivating. The dirty stuff is brief at the end but it’s just descriptive enough to get you all warm and tingly inside :))))
Winter in the City by relativestranger - This fic. I followed its updates religiously and the chapter titles are a gem. I really enjoy how this author takes the time to create a world and really paint the picture of each scene, plus I love college AUs that don’t try too hard to overdo anything. Also, slowburn is the key to my heart
Coral and Bone by @macbetha - Okay sorry if this one is obvious but Macbetha is a fic writing god in this fandom and honestly, I like this one of theirs best. Talk about mermaid AUs. Very immersive, well written as usual. I’ll be honest, I haven’t had the chance to read the last few chapters, but I’m sure they’re just as good as the rest of it.
tomorrow, you might love me by nezumiprefersdanielleovershakespeare - Alrighty so I didn’t remember what this one was and I reread it and wow holy shhhiiiiiiiit this is something else. Mostly canon compliant with their high school storyline and domestic af. Plus the way this author writes is so captivating and also very Haru, it’s like spot on. Gives you the major feels, some healthy angst, and of course a wonderfully happy ending.
Just Friends by FruitsOfPassion- if you know me and read my fics, you KNOW this is my kind of fic. Sloppy drunk mistake hookups that lead to lots of miscommunication and angst before they both realize they’re in love with each other. Also if I remember correctly, this one is v dirty ;)
Touch Me by Gemmiel - okay there are so many good fics in this one series alone so I just recommend reading them all. The author is 10000000000%%% and there’s a really nice balance of smut and fluff and everything in between. Honestly just read everything by them it’s worth it!
connotation by magicianprince - this freaking fic. This is the fic that deadass inspired me to write my whole Hot for Teacher series. I have no other words, it holds a special place in my heart because of that :)
Can You See Me? by choking_on_roses (orphan_account) - another fic that heavily inspired me. I love Rockband AUs with all the glam and drama and of course, angst. Once again, fair warning this one is unfinished and I’m pretty sure abandoned (I know, I’m still sad about it too), but it’s a damn good read still.
Had we but world enough, and time by anditwasstinky (thewicked) - Mermaid au, hella long and an emo rollercoaster ENJOY
His Camera by LensMind - Makoto has a very dirty secret, and Haru happens to find out and simply cannot get enough of it. Very much a guilty pleasure fic, sooo juicy and the actual epitome of sexual tension and just ugh. I’d definitely consider it a favorite of mine...
Take Me Home by otp_tears - This one is really cool. A bit of sci-fi, memory loss, and a hell of a lot of angst. Basically Haru’s consciousness is transferred to a new body after he “dies” from an illness, and he has to deal with remembering who he is and his relationships while Makoto has to deal with separating the Haru he knew from the Haru he is now. It’s very sad but also a super interesting concept, the author did a good job tackling a difficult fic like this!
2/13189000 by tothemoon - this fic is the ultimate rec. I see it in everyone’s posts, but i can’t NOT recommend it because it’s amazing. So there you go enough said just read it k thxbye
Finger Slip by thoughtless_dreamer - phone sex fic ENOUGH SAID
safe landing by heinsou - I found this on my fic-rec tag on my blog. It’s the way that the fireworks scene SHOULD have gone. Emotional rollercoaster but wow soooo worth it because this author makes you feel shit real good
(SFW)
A Kingdom For You and Me by @datheetjoella - I have an unending amount of loving words for this fic and this author. Joella has been a fic writing inspiration for me for I don’t even know how long. I can pick out her writing style without even looking at this point. She’s incredible, and has written plenty for than just this fic which I also HIGHLY recommend (and not just because one of them is a special gift for me :3)
Me Too by Flightless_Bird - Ohh ho ho I remember the first time I read this, it gave me major goosebumps. Basically Makoto shows up for one of Haru’s swim meets and there is hella sexual tension right before Haru’s race It’s one of those fics that makes you wish there was a 10,000 word sequel for... other things...
Between the Raindrops by westgate - Makoto is home alone during a rainstorm and Haru is his knight in shining armour! I’m weak for protective Haru and first kiss fics, and this one is certainly a gem.
The Voltage of Our Heartbeats by @datheetjoella - another Joella fic (not surprising lmao) but this one really gets me because coincidentally, her and I were both working on power-outage fics at the same time when she wrote this. I really loved hers though, so I couldn’t resist putting this one down too hehe
Okay I’m running out of patience and quickly realizing theres so many fics I love I could work on this ask for days so here’s a second Fic Rec post I made a while ago with some repeats and a few others that are definitely worth a mention. It might be more helpful too because when I made it I actually was currently reading some of them or remembered a lot of them better.
I hope this is some sufficient reading material for you, anon! And please don’t forget to check out the fics of yours truly as well hehe
#asks#fic rec#makoharu#tachibana makoto#nanase haruka#harumako#free!#fanfiction#fanfiction recommendation#i wish i knew everyone's tumblr alias so I could tag them all#but that's a lot of work#so hopefully this is helpful#i'm assuming it will be at least a little#because that's a lot of fics lol#and I didn't even get through them all#I might add more later#when i'm less overwhelmed#thanks for the ask!

DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 1
1. What did you like about the beginning of the comic?
2. What has been your favorite moment in the comic (so far)?
3. Who is your favorite character?
4. Which characters do like seeing interact the most?
5. What is something you like about the art? If you have a favorite illustration, please share it!
6. What is a theme you like that the comic explores?
7. What do you like about the comic’s story or overall related content?
8. Overall, what do you think the comic’s strengths are?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
woah, traditional comic :0 rare breed.
eli [a winged tale]
Indeed! I love the hook of the water spell and the creatures so far!
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
I got a chance to read it! So I like how it opens up the world building with the desert, the baby interacting with the llama beast. They are shown to to be in a harsh desert climate. 5. I really like the traditional look of the comic artwork. The magic shown by the mom is fasinating. How they seem connected to nature(edited)
SpaceBum
The beginning is so good! I also really like the families dynamic specifically between the chief and their daughter. I wish the chief had been more understanding of why her daughter stepped in to safe that guy even though I understand where they’re coming from
RebelVampire
For the beginning, I like kind of just how quick certain aspects of the world were introduced. Like the story pretty quickly established theres magic, how the nomadic tribe feeds themselves in the desert, and the stakes now that that is growing harder. You learn a lot about the world without there needing to be heavy exposition, which really helps with the story flow. My favorite moment in the comic so far is probably the market scene when Dorian appears since I enjoyed the brief interaction there and the communication gaps that had to be overcome because Thaina is deaf. It was interesting to see how that is handled in the comic's world. My favorite character right now is actually Thaina's mom who is holding the tribe together, taking risks, and doing everything a chief is able to do to keep things together. Can't not respect that. Also she makes awesome speeches. My favorite characters interacting is probably Thaina and her brother just because I like how similar they are and how they each help each other out. It's very cute and heartwarming.
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
Oh, wow, I love how this comic handles sign language. Mostly like a speech bubble, but the end of the tail, instead of being a point that leads to the mouth, opens up into a bracket to reflect that the dialogue is coming from the person's whole body? That's brilliant.
(And the way it's square instead of round, so you can tell what kind of speech it is even when there's no tail -- also a great choice.)
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
I love the look of this comic! And yeah, I agree Erin, the way sign language is handled in the comic is super cool. I’m really curious how the story is going to progress from here. Like, will we start to see measures taken against the nomads thanks to these city politicians? Will we focus more on Thaina and Dorian getting to know each other?
Feather J. Fern
The art is so cool, I love the woobly panels
RebelVampire
Back to questions. For the art, I like the color choices and blending quite a lot. The colors just all make the comic so pretty to look at, and somehow really suits the desert-y setting. That's some atmospheric about is that I really enjoy. As for themes, I like that the comic is exploring adapting to change. Whether we want to or not, life changes, and this often means we have to do things we never thought we'd do. And I like seeing that the comic hits that right up front and kind of shows/discusses inevitably how we adapt to these kind of changes and deal with them, whether healthy or not. As for the comic's overall story, I again like how communication is used in various ways to tell the story, from unreadable dialogue to sign language to just expressions. It really all speaks to how large a roll communication plays in our lives and the various forms it can come in. As for the comic's overall strengths, I'm gonna give it to just the fact in how unique it is with its traditional art style, deaf main character, and so forth. Sure you can find these in other comics, but it's rare to see it all together like this. So it makes for a genuine experience you won't get elsewhere
Comic Tea Party
DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 2
9. What do you think of the way the story handles dialogue and communication given the protagonist is deaf? How does this change how you look at dialogue in general for comics or how characters with disabilities are portrayed?
10. Why do you think the city has such negative attitudes towards the Thaina’s tribe, and do you think the city will grow past them? In what ways might Thaina directly influence the opinions of the city and those in charge?
11. Why do you think James is so adamant about expanding the water pipeline and banning magic? Is there some hidden agenda, or is James actually trying to do good for the city? What negative consequences might there be for either action?
12. What do you think Dorian’s role will be in the story? If a positive for the Thaina’s tribe, what do you think Dorian’s motivation will be? Also, how will Dorian’s actions affect people Dorian knows in the city?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
I really love the way dialogue is handled with the deaf protagonist!!! The way speech bubbles are drawn is super unique and makes sense intuitively! Honestly, it's a style of speech bubble I may want to steal for my works at some point lol. I really like little touches too, like having speech bubbles with scribbles in them when Thaina turns away. It all just... clicks!
RebelVampire
I also really love the way the story handles dialogue. While I was a bit confused at first, once I figured out what they were going for, it felt really ingenious. It really stretches the boundaries of how you can make characters communicate, and that you can experiment with dialogue in a lot of different ways. I feel like the distrust and attitude for the tribe mostly just comes from the fact their outsiders. It's easy to feel that way about people you don't know, and when it's group vs. group, that getting to know you gap is super hard to overcome. So usually, especially when the groups just avoid each other generally this sentiment only grows. As for growing past it though, honestly I'm less hopeful. I'm sure Thaina can make some people go around, but change like this does not come easy or fast. :( In regards to James, I'm inclined to say a bit of both. I feel like James does have an ulterior motive, but I also don't feel like it's entirely selfish yet. More misguided if anything, cause it's not like a pipeline of water would only benefit James or banning magic wouldn't make it unsafe for everyone else. Though I definitely think this is one of those decisions where it sounds good in theory until they use up all the water or need magic for something and whoops, the longterm wasn't considered. As for Dorian's role, probably part contact in the city, probably part love interest? I don't really feel like I know Dorian enough to say.
Comic Tea Party
DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 3
13. What are you most looking forward to seeing in regards to the comic?
14. Any final words of encouragement for the comic?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
sagaholmgaard
Ahh I only now reached chapter two but I just wanted to say that the comic looks really cool, I love the watercolor style and the way magic has been illustrated so far! And the different ways for communication is also really inspiring to see :0
warriorneedsfood
I like the comic very much. It’s brave to try to draw characters that can only communicate with sign language. And ‘taste my toes, criminal!’ Made me laugh out loud.
RebelVampire
I think what I'm most looking forward to in the comic is just seeing more Dorian since the story moved on so fast I'm excited to see Dorian's role in the story. As for final words, this is a very atmospheric comic that bravely takes a lot of chances that works out well, so even if it's not your cup of tea, it's definitely something to respect and study.

It’s not as though Natalie Green knew what this year held in store or what would exist at the end of the road. Though, at every step of the way, he kept going. Embodied in both his music and his story of perseverance, is a rare example of an artistic soul that found peace where few would ever dream to look. It took months of learning and continued questioning of himself and what he wanted to be. But in the end, it resulted in a man anew.
With a new project taking shape in studio sessions that contrast his earlier life, Natalie Green is finding a voice he previously was nervous to share, speaking louder than before. The ideas, memoirs and anxieties he hopes to express have become clear. With every note, he continually finds himself as much as he does connect to those who battle the same confusions.
Natalie Green now stands with a new asset he hadn’t held prior, the ability to embark on the path he wants, not the one life throws him upon. He can stand and become the artist he visualizes, the artist he knows is essential to reveal to the world. For the first time in a while, Natalie Green is in control, with a steering wheel in hand and a road of possibility on the horizon.
Our first question as always, how’s your day going and how are you?
Things have been hectic, but good. Good busy you know? There are different kinds of busy and this one has been all positive.
On your last EP last year, it sounded like you weren’t fully at peace, do you find that you are now after a year of personal introspection?
Yeah for sure, when I was writing the EP, I was in a really terrible place physically, emotionally and mentally. It was a passion project when it came out, I didn’t have to think about it. Whereas now, I’ve got a place, I’m not just in my car anymore, I emotionally feel a lot more centered, I have my head on straight. I’ve found friends and people that I love to surround myself with. Everything’s been a thousand times better.
When you’re looking within this shift you’ve undertaken, where do you think you’ve personally grown the most, whether artistically or as an individual?
I think I’ve gotten more empathetic towards people. All people. As well, I feel more self-aware. What I realized when living in my car was that I didn’t know myself. Living in a house again with roommates made me, in a new way, learn more about myself, and where I needed to spend a lot of time mentally. As far as musically, I feel more confident, I think that’s apparent in my vocals and instrumentation, they’re far more personal in that sense.
With the new year in season, being a time of reflecting upon the past year, do you have any memories that stick out to you as positive through the difficult and turbulent times?
There’s a lot. I don’t know if there’s one specific moment, but definitely moving into the apartment. I also got to play a private show in my friend’s backyard for all my close friends. That was a big moment for me. There’s a lot of moments where I had friends reassure me, and believe in me when I wasn’t doing so myself. One of my best friends from back home came to live here a little while ago, that was really special to have him back. The whole tour with Roy, of course, was inspiring, to see him do all that and becoming closer to everyone I went on tour with will forever be in my memories.
With that tour, and even more so working on Cat Heaven, happening while you were working on your own projects, did they influence the way you approached your new work?
There are certain things I learn from other people I can implement in my own music later. There will be something I’ll figure out while I’m working with someone, be it a sound or a new style, I can kinda pull out later. A lot of it is just talking to others and learning their inspirations and how that reflects in their music. Then turning and comparing that to my own influences and seeing how I do the same. It’s all just inspiration.
To touch on that idea of inspiration, you’ve mentioned in the past how you have a wide range on influences in your life in terms on music, but in the last year, which artists have really been influencing the work you’re putting out?
There’s been a lot of really great artists I just got into this past year-ish, but a big one is Michelle Zauner, who’s the singer for Japanese Breakfast. I’m hugely inspired by her, the fact she directs her own music videos and does all her own creative output, it’s really amazing. I’ve also loved the movies of Michel Gondry and the writing of Charlie Kaufman, anything they work on is amazing and so intoxicating.
With this new album you’re ramping up to release, has there been a difference in approach to how you wrote songs and lyrics? And how does that process look like?
I mean it’s been different for almost every song, I tried to do the album the same way I did the EP, and it wasn’t working right. Every song I wrote just felt lacklustre or the same. So to change it up, I had to change my methods, like the first song I wrote, I did two guitar parts first and then I sang, then produced over. That is very different to the EP which was songs first then lyrics. There are certain songs where before I recorded, I had a guitar riff and just wrote the song in a very traditional way, just chords and singing. Maybe loops would be first at times, and then they’d be built off of. Everything has been different.
It’s interesting because it sounds like you’ve really been adding more to your skill set as an artist, would you say that if you had a tool belt of music, that you’ve been adding towards it in the last while?
Yeah, definitely. I’ve been doing that my whole life honestly. I started in bands, not knowing how to produce or anything, but I could play guitar and from then I learned the bass just to add of that. Then I learned production, and that is forever useful. Now I’m working more to be an artist and learn what that entails and requires. Every time I learn something new I really take that and hold onto it until needed.
If you could create your ideal music creation space, where would it be and how would it look like?
That’s interesting, It would really just need to be a secluded place. A place I could disappear and a place I could be as loud as I want as late as I want. No interruptions, all the equipment I needed. Some food, drinks and a bathroom, that’s all I need.
Over the year you’ve posted some concerts you went to, like Paramore in the summer. Are there other shows you saw live that really had an impact upon you and maybe changed the way you approach live shows yourself?
Well, of course, the tour with Roy, he’s been super inspiring in general and watching the man work is amazing. He has a lot of fantastic ideas and he goes through with them. I saw Daisy as well, and they’re so good live. Solange was also amazing with her stage design and her choreography. I also saw Soccer Mommy pretty recently, and it wasn’t too extravagant but it was so well done and exciting to see as a fan of the music.
When you’re on stage, even something like the backyard show you mentioned earlier, what’s the emotion you’re trying to achieve and what is the mindset that you find yourself within at that moment?
When I played that private show, I realized all my songs were pretty mellow and hard to dance or move to. All except for Beachwood didn’t translate very well. So with this new project, I want them to translate really well live, to feel energetic, to feel lively. The songs are just fun. But I keep that emotion in and make sure that I don’t lose what made the earlier work so special and important.
What’s been the overall message you’re trying to pursue this new work and what is it you’re hoping to convey?
I kinda just want to tell my story. Or a story of mine. If people learn things from that, its great, but I’m just saying what happened in my experience. What I realized is that there’s a lot of shitty things that happened to me in my life, but the truth is that things could be a lot worse, so far they’ve been pretty good for the most part. While I had those tough days, I’m still here kicking it.
I apologize if it’s a repeated question, but with the topic of your story, what’s the meaning behind the stage name you’ve taken upon yourself?
It is and it isn’t part of my story in a way. A big part of that choice was that I wanted to separate myself from my old name and work. I wanted this to be super new. The name is taken from two names of people I am very inspired by. And it also, to me, sounds like the quintessential hot girl from a high school, the girl in the coming of age movie they all go after.
If you had a message to artists out there who may find themselves in the same space as you have previously found yourself within, those who may feel as unsure, what would be your lesson to pass on?
I think it doesn’t matter if you’re as confident or as talented as you want to be, as long as you recognize what sounds good to you, just put out the song. It doesn’t matter if you think your voice was bad, just keep progressing as an artist. If you wait for that progression you’ll never put stuff out, you’ll never be happy. With whatever you have right now, just start putting something, anything, out.

Meme Anime Ask Pt.3 of 4
@stacys--mum asked me to answer 12, 16, and 30.
Due to my past experience of learning to answer these I will answer them in this order
Pt.1 - 12. Anime that should get more attention from others?
Pt.2 - 16. 10 animes you have watched to recommend? (alphabetically/1-5)
Pt.3 - 16. 10 animes you have watched to recommend? (alphabetically/6-10)
Pt.4 - 30. One anime conclusion you would change?
Also a quick mention to anyone of what not to do when writing an extensive post since this is now my fifth attempt.
1. Always stick with one network or wi-fi when completing these, otherwise when you connect to a new wi-fi theres a good chance of losing everything you wrote.
2. Don’t ever write on a train even if they promise some sort of wi-fi especially on a moving train. Since your computer is just going to run pretty slow to the point of your computer thinking you had decided to send the answer on private, instead of choosing your gif.
3. Always be cautious where you are leaning your body on the overly sensitive touchpad especially when your unaware of it, while enjoying someones company.
4. Don’t ever try to attempt to make a long post and expect your laptop to still run fast. I learned this the hard way being half way done with this ask only for my computer to stay frozen for over two hours. only to give up hope that my computer can work while still answering this ask, so I decided to restart my laptop and loose everything.
Knowing these are all of the things I’ve learned I encourage everyone to not be me lol.
So, fifth times the charm...I guess.
16. 10 anime you have watched to recommend ? ( alphabetically/6-10 )
6. Kill la Kill
Plot: After the murder of her father, Ryuuko Matoi has been wandering the land in search of his killer. Following her only lead—the missing half of his invention, the Scissor Blade—she arrives at the prestigious Honnouji Academy, a high school unlike any other. The academy is ruled by the imposing and cold-hearted student council president Satsuki Kiryuuin alongside her powerful underlings, the Elite Four. In the school's brutally competitive hierarchy, Satsuki bestows upon those at the top special clothes called "Goku Uniforms," which grant the wearer unique superhuman abilities. Thoroughly beaten in a fight against one of the students in uniform, Ryuuko retreats to her razed home where she stumbles across Senketsu, a rare and sentient "Kamui," or God Clothes. After coming into contact with Ryuuko's blood, Senketsu awakens, latching onto her and providing her with immense power. Now, armed with Senketsu and the Scissor Blade, Ryuuko makes a stand against the Elite Four, hoping to reach Satsuki and uncover the culprit behind her father's murder once and for all.
Background: Kill La Kill’s Toshio Ishizaki won the Tokyo Anime Award for Best Character Design in 2014. The series got another Character Design Award along with a Storyboard Award, Soundtrack Award, Theme Song Award (for Sirius), Mascot Awards (for Senketsu and Guts), Female Character Awards (for Ryuuko Matoi and Mako Mankanshoku), and Series Award for TV Broadcast in the 2014 Newtype Anime Awards.
Kill la Kill is a 2013 anime produced by Studio Trigger. A relatively new studio's first television production wouldn't normally raise too many eyebrows when announced unless said studio happened to be made up of ex-Studio Gainax and Studio 4C members, and the production's director, writer, and lead character designer also worked together on Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann and a composer who did the music for Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn and Attack on Titan. Kill la Kill was also heavily influenced by the 1980s comedy/battle seinen anime film Project A-ko, which featured almost identical character dynamics and types amongst its main female protagonists, and a similar main conflict. Kill la Kill was originally conceived as a manga focused entirely on battle scenes, but it shifted during production to become more character-focused.
Genres: Action, Comedy, Super Power, Ecchi, School, magical girl
7. Monogatari Series (nothing too specific as I like to view it as one giant story to watch, as I feel at times they’re not the best as stand alones. Especially the ecchi in this series can get horribly cringy at times especially when its not needed whats o ever.)
Plot: The Monogatari series revolves around Koyomi Araragi, a third-year high school student who is almost human again after briefly becoming a vampire. One day, a classmate of his, the reclusive Hitagi Senjōgahara, falls down the stairs into Koyomi's arms. He discovers that Hitagi weighs nothing, in defiance of physics. Despite being threatened by her to keep away, Koyomi offers his help and introduces her to Meme Oshino, a strange middle-aged man living in an abandoned building, who cured him of being a vampire. Once Koyomi helps solve Hitagi's problem, she decides to become his friend.
As the series progresses, Koyomi finds himself involved with other girls, each afflicted by different "oddities", including the ghost of a child called Mayoi Hachikuji; his underclassman Suruga Kanbaru; Nadeko Sengoku, a friend of his sisters; his classmate Tsubasa Hanekawa; and his own younger sisters Karen and Tsukihi. To deal with the spectres, Koyomi relies on guidance from Oshino and, later, from Shinobu, the same vampire who attacked him, now with the appearance of an eight-year-old girl.
Most heroines have an item that symbolises their spectres, such as Hitagi's stapler (the claw of a crab), Mayoi's backpack (the shell of a snail), Suruga's arm (the arm of a monkey), Nadeko's hat and jacket (the head and skin of a snake), and Karen's black and yellow tracksuit (the colors of a bee). Although incorporating elements of fantasy, horror, and action, it primarily focuses on conversations between characters, containing parodies of other series, as well as Nisio Isin’s trademark wordplay and metahumor.
Background: The Monogatari Series is a series of light novels written by Nisio Isin and illustrated by VOFAN. Much like the rest of Nisio Isin and his work, Bakemonogatari parodies a lot of different anime tropes- most of them center around the harem genre, and poke fun at the various cliches inherent in said genre. Each part of the series focuses on a different girl and the affliction that ails them, each one an examination of a different anime girl stereotype. For example, main girl Hitagi is a Tsundere, Hanekawa is the meganekko, and so on. Araragi himself is an unreliable narrator, so much of his opinion of who these girls are can bleed into their portrayal in the series, making it so that we often learn more about Araragi at the same time we learn about the girls.
Studio Shaft adapted Bakemonogatari into an anime in 2009 under the direction of Akiyuki Shinbo, the man behind the surrealist Sayonara, Zetsubou - Sensei. he adaptation has been a huge success, and the studio has stated they will adapt the entire series ( even as Isin keeps writing more and more ). As noted in the list above, all of the series up to the first half of Owarimonogatari has been adapted to anime in some form, including broadcast series, original net animations, TV specials and theatrical films.
Genres: Avant-Garde, Mystery, Comedy, Supernatural, Romance, Vampire
8. Princess Tutu
Plot: In a fairy tale come to life, the clumsy, sweet, and gentle Ahiru (Japanese for "duck") seems like an unlikely protagonist. In reality, Ahiru is just as magical as the talking cats and crocodiles that inhabit her town—for Ahiru really is a duck! Transformed by the mysterious Drosselmeyer into a human girl, Ahiru soon learns the reason for her existence. Using her magical egg-shaped pendant, Ahiru can transform into Princess Tutu—a beautiful and talented ballet dancer whose dances relieve people of the turmoil in their hearts. With her newfound ability, Ahiru accepts the challenge of collecting the lost shards of her prince's heart, for long ago he had shattered it in order to seal an evil raven away for all eternity. Princess Tutu is a tale of heroes and their struggle against fate. Their beliefs, their feelings, and ultimately their actions will determine whether this fairy tale can reach its "happily ever after."
Background: The series originally aired in summer 2001 with a total of 38 episodes.
Princess Tutu a magical girl anime series created by Ikoku Itoh in 2002 for animation studio Hal Film Maker. Inspired by ballet and fairy tales, particularly The Ugly Duckling and Swan Lake. Reviewers point out that although Princess Tutu is nominally a magical girl series, it is more of a "fairy tale set to ballet with a few magical girl elements mixed in," and its use of dance in lieu of violence to solve conflicts carries "surprisingly effective emotional appeal."
Genres: Comedy, Fantasy, Magic, Romance, Magical Girl
9. Space Dandy
Plot: The universe is a mysterious and strange place, full of even stranger and more mysterious aliens. Dandy's job is to hunt down unclassified aliens and register them for a reward. It sounds easy enough, but something weird always seems to happen along the way, like chance meetings with zombies, mystical ramen chefs, and adorable orphans. Hunting down aliens may not be easy, but it's definitely never boring. With the help of his sidekicks, the adorable robot vacuum QT and cat-like alien Meow, and his slightly-used ship the Aloha Oe, Dandy roams the galaxy searching for new alien species. What he usually finds, however, is adventure, danger, and romance, and no two journeys (or universes) are ever the same. This is Space☆Dandy, baby!
Background: Space☆Dandy reunites a number of lead production staff members from Cowboy Bebop , including producer Masahiko Minami and director Shinichiro Watanabe. Its production involved as many as 70 animation creators and 20 musical artists as collaborators, with Watanabe insisting that artists could only use pre-1984 musical styles. Although character designer Yoshiyuki Itou is credited as an animation director, his designs were not standardized across the series, allowing for individual animators to express their style.
The show premiered in Winter 2014 with 26 episodes.
Genres: Sci-Fi, Space, Comedy
10. Yuuri on Ice
Plot: Reeling from his crushing defeat at the Grand Prix Finale, Yuuri Katsuki, once Japan's most promising figure skater, returns to his family home to assess his options for the future. At age 23, Yuuri's window for success in skating is closing rapidly, and his love of pork cutlets and aptitude for gaining weight are not helping either. However, Yuuri finds himself in the spotlight when a video of him performing a routine previously executed by five-time world champion, Victor Nikiforov, suddenly goes viral. In fact, Victor himself abruptly appears at Yuuri's house and offers to be his mentor. As one of his biggest fans, Yuuri eagerly accepts, kicking off his journey to make it back onto the world stage. But the competition is fierce, as the rising star from Russia, Yuri Plisetsky, is relentlessly determined to defeat Yuuri and win back Victor's tutelage.
Background: The series premiered in fall 2016 with 12 episodes.
The anime was produced by MAPPA, directed by Sayo Yamamoto and written by Mitsurō Kubo. Character design was by Tadashi Hiramatsu, and its music was composed by Taro Umebayashi and Taku Matsushiba. The figure skating was choreographed by Kenji Miyamoto, who also performed routines himself which were recorded and used as skating sound effects. The series premiered on October 6, 2016 and ended on December 22, with a total of 12 episodes. A Yuri on Ice feature film is currently in production.
Released to critical acclaim, Yuri on Ice has been well received in Japan. It won three awards at the Tokyo Anime Award Festival, a Japan Character Award and seven awards in Crunchyroll’s inaugural Anime Awards. In Japan, the series was released in six parts on Blu-Ray and DVD, with all the releases coming No. 1 on the Oricon nimation Blu-Ray disc and Animation DVD disc rankings respectively. It was the second-most successful media franchise in Japan for the first half of 2017. It was popular on social media outlets such as Tumblr, Sina, Weibo, and Twitter, where it received over a million more tweets that the next most-talked about anime series in the season it was broadcast. It also attracted praise from professional figure skaters.
Yuri on Ice has raised discussion concerning its depiction of a same-sex relationship between its protagonists, with some critics praising it for covering homosexuality in a way that differs from most anime and manga. Dealing with homosexuality in a country and sport that has present-day issues with homophobia; others criticized its depiction for being unrealistic and ambiguous. The series has also been praised for its depiction of anxiety.

Suzie + Brandan’s modern black and white letterpress invitation suite
Photo by Mikkel Paige, photo styling by Janet St. Clair
Suzie and Brandan came to me with the most clear and unique vision, and I had such an incredible time executing it with them! Suzie knew she wanted crisp, modern type, and a minimalist, black and white feel.
Photo by Mikkel Paige, photo styling by Janet St. Clair
Working together with McLean Events, we actually took direction from my business card, which had blind debossing on the back, and blind debossed her and Brandan’s names. That’s a move that can feel risky, but is so good when successfully executed (and blind debossing really is surprisingly legible. The dimension that the letterpress adds makes it easy to read, particularly when the words are larger, as they are here.) The secret to the story is that when I designed my business cards, I went the blind debossing route because I hoped that it would help convince my clients that they could go for it, by seeing how legible it was on my card. And it worked!
Photo by Mikkel Paige, photo styling by Janet St. Clair
We tied this suite all together with a vellum belly band and an oversized wax seal - white, for a tone on tone look. And best of all, we brought the details of the suite throughout their wedding day, with their modern escort cards, vellum menus, and minimalist drink signs.
photo by Theo Milo Photo, event planned by McLean Events
I seriously loved this suite! I think a common misconception is that when you’re a stationer and artist, your clients have to fit into your style, but since I’m coming from a design background, having my personal style represented has never been my goal for my work.
photo by Theo Milo Photo, event planned by McLean Events
For me, it’s about representing my client’s styles, their love stories, and how they’ve envisioned their special day. The magic happens when their style hits the right note of inspiration for me, and there’s enough trust in the relationship to take the suite beyond what they’ve initially envisioned, and create something truly unique.
photo by Theo Milo Photo, event planned by McLean Events Florals by Blossom Bay Design
The icing on the cake is that this wedding was featured on Martha Stewart Weddings!! I’m not surprised, because everything about it was perfection, but I am so, so excited. I’ve been a big fan of Martha since basically day one (as an eight year old I would pore over her magazine, and I still subscribe today), and when I started my business, my dream was to have my work featured in Martha Stewart Weddings.

I feel super grateful to get to work alongside such talented vendors on the regular - since I’m never actually at the events, I always feel a little bit removed from the team, but I always love seeing how it all turned out, (I’m usually stalking them on instagram the day of the event, cheering everyone on) and it’s so rewarding to see my pieces in their true context on the day of the event.

literally no one asked for this and i was bored so heres monsta x as a jazz combo under the cut
shownu
sax player, brass/winds leader
plays every single saxophone known to man + clarinet, flute, and p much every other wind instrument ?? like how?????
hes amazing thats how
so so so dedicated but like
where kihyun is like …. aggressively dedicated shownu is more relaxed abt it
like kihyun plays more but shownu listens more and analyzes more sort of??
thats why hes the leader
has a very good understanding of different styles and how to break them down
just perceptive musically
also really good at imitating specific styles
always has extra valve oil and grease and strings and sticks in his bag it’s ridiculous the thing probably weighs like 30 pounds
he doesn’t really have a specific music taste?? like hes just not picky
also too compliant for his own good …
minhyuk showed up at rehearsal once like “shownu, lets play death metal!!” and shownu was just like “ok sounds good”
also doesn’t really like to be super assertive so he’ll usually suggest articulations and phrasings rather than saying “tongue this note and slur that”
everyone listens to him anyways tho because he’s right
not really tonally or rhythmically inclined tbh hes just good all around
hes really flexible stylistically and likes to play in lots of different styles
loves bob florence, john coltrane, ellington, but will listen to everything
likes to challenge himself w rhythms bc hes pretty good at them!!
he gets really anxious before performances tho and it definitely reflects in his playing :(
kihyun
trumpet!!! lead trumpet!!!!
his sound is really sharp (like cutting? almost) and strong and honestly??? the most beautiful thing uve ever heard
probably a prodigy tbh
he isnt leader tho like just bc he plays the ~visually most important~ instrument doesn’t mean hes in charge lol
always attentive, has like 3 pencils on him at all times, records rehearsals, Model Musician tbh
tonally inclined
eats, drinks, and breathes long tones
can’t sleep?? long tones
hungry?? long tones
bored?? long tones
i.m: hey kihyun whats the answer for question 11?
kihyun: long tones, changkyun. the answer is always long tones
i.m, in the background: im a guitarist????
his range is ridiculous bc of this
loves ballads!!! especially basie ballads like little darling bc he can just … drag out his beautiful sound like theres no tomorrow
probably doesn’t like a lot of contemporary jazz but plays it to challenge himself
also loves thad jones, miles davis, jalc (modern groups playing old jazz make him happy!!) and jazz vocalists - frank sinatra, cecile mclorin savant, etc.
biggest weakness is probably the fact that he doesn’t listen as much as he should so he doesn’t always grasp style well :(
shownu: kihyun listen to this recording!
kihyun: i can’t ,, im playing rn .. ., gotta go fast
minhyuk
hes a trombone player and no one can tell me other wise
this is bc trombones are the worst and so is minhyuk
shownu: alright everyone lets start at measure 39
minhyuk: *slides around on the trombone* how about i solo for 30 measures instead
never fuckingf listens
but hes not a bad player!! hes just .. an unstoppable force of nature .. .,
his sound is really warm and broad but occasionally sounds a little muffled
esp when hes lazy or doesn’t like the piece theyre working on
tbh don’t even expect him to try if he doesnt like the music ur playing
tonally inclined
hates long tones, has never done them in his life probably??
bc of that his range isn’t super big but his sound is really strong and powerful
kihyun works w him on long tones bc ‘minhyuk!!! ur range is holding us back,, please!!’
prefers up tempo funk or latin tunes but doesn’t like super complicated rhythms
loves gordon goodwin and the brecker brothers to bits …
will blast them while showering :)
really impatient as a musician
like he cant focus for super long periods of time and he cant sit through all of those long rehearsals so his playing suffers bc of that
he practices better in small groups than alone bc the other members help him focus better so he gets more done~
i.m
guitarist
hes the only guitarist u will ever meet who shows up on time to rehearsal… amazing
its rlly relaxing to watch him play hes just really confident n comfortable w his style of playing bc hes p flexible and he loves jazz a lot bc its so different and complicated as a genre!!!
has read every single jazz autobiography and watched every single jazz movie known to man
rhythmically inclined
he, hyungwon, and jooheon just .. have rhythm clapping competitions where they see who can clap the most complicated rhythms for the longest amount of time …. theyre a trip
plays clappingmusic on his phone when hes bored and has converted the entire band to it
fuckin loves free jazz and fusion!!!! and contemporary jazz
he, hyungwon, and jooheon just hang out listening to ornette coleman, charles mingus, chick corea - its a great time
(hyungwon hates ornette coleman but he wont tell changkyun bc he doesn’t want to break his heart :( )
hes a sucker for like .. old romantic sounding jazz
he plays through his real book every couple of days- he really loves the classics too
loves wes montgomery
hes the bands treasure; you make fun of a lick he played?? u wont see the light of day . …
his biggest weakness is he has troubles communicating with the other group members like w eye contact and tempo changes and stuff
also gets lost in the middle of pieces sometimes bc hes a little spacey n he worries :(
wonho
pianist, rhythm section leader
naturally bouncy style, very swingy - he’s a natural, also possibly a prodigy?
won a bunch of classical music competitions when he was a kid but then he realized he liked jazz more so he switched over
the biggest jazz history nerd!! just knows a lot of random facts about all the composers
favorite facts include: billy strayhorn was gay and mingus punched his lead bone player in the mouth (hyungwons response ‘youre next minhyuk’ always makes him laugh)
buys food for everyone before rehearsal
always trying to help everyone become more confident and happy with their own musical abilities
helps everyone rehearse by doing 1-on-1 stuff if they need it
probably plays in elderly homes and in orphanages to help the kids
also not really rhythmically/tonally inclined hes just good
rlly likes jazz-inspired classical music and like … jazz movie soundtracks
watches jazz movies with changkyun
also likes ragtime, second line, dixieland … all those old exciting jazz movements bc theyre so fun to play!!!
he isn’t very confident in his playing like he knows hes good but he doubts himself a lot so he lets other people’s preferences control him??
like if someone doesn’t like something abt a solo of his he’ll change to appease them, even if he likes it a lot :(
hyungwon
bassist
plays both upright and electric
really smooth long sound on both instruments - his entire style feels very relaxed
honestly was dragged into this by minhyuk without knowing what jazz really was but he really grew to like it!!
loves his role as a bassist bc hes important but like … behind the scenes important >:)
most people don’t think abt the bassist at all in the band but hyungwon Knows that hes important so hes ok w that
definitely doesn’t know how to work his own equipment like
quarter inches?? amp head??? what r those he just doesn’t know
he and jooheon always argue about the best way to do a fill and tempo and anything else under the sun bc theyre both stubborn and think theyre right
wonho is the only one that can make it stop
hyungwon probably shows up late to rehearsal w like … cup ramen and a book someone help him
the book is a jazz autobiography and he discusses it w changkyun after rehearsal over coffee
hes rhythmically inclined and loves to challenge himself w odd meters and weird fingerings
he doesn’t necessarily like that kind of music though?? like hell play it to challenge himself but he won’t always like it and won’t really listen to it
loves every single bassist known to man
esp victor wooten, mingus, esperanza spalding, ron carter
he hates jaco tho bc jaco is an asshole
minhyuk: but mingus was also an asshole??
hyungwon: shhhhhhh mingus was a special kind of asshole so its ok
will honestly just listen to entire bass concerts
loves cool jazz and bebop
hes really … absorbed in his own playing because he throws himself into it and wants his walking to be good and he wants to be in time and all these other things so when hes playing he sometimes ignores the rest of the group bc hes trying so hard to sound good
hes a lil bit of a worrier internally and its gets in the way of the confidence of his playing
also procrastinates on his deadlines like theres no tomorrow lol
jooheon
drummer!!!!
carries at least 3 pairs of sticks, brushes, and a practice pad with him at all times
he??? drums in the bath room sometimes????? you’ll just walk by and hear vague slapping noises like ‘oh thats just jooheon! hes working on his rudiments’ :)
one of those 3 pairs of drumsticks is broken and taped together so that it doesn’t fall apart tbh
wants to bring back jazz rap
also rlly likes electroswing and jazz trap
just give him jazz thats influenced by new technologies in music !! he loves it
rhythmically inclined - especially likes playing in odd meters
his fills and hits are always so in-time it’s ridiculous
loves don ellis and buddy rich
his jazz playlist is 50% all of the standard jazz he needs and the other 50% is like thess tracks from single composers that have been dead 20 years w no meter or are in like 17/8 or something
jokes abt having 'perfect click’ all the time like
jooheon: you know perfect pitch??? ive got perfect tempo ;)))
hyungwon: jooheon shut up, you rush all of your fills
sets up pranks w minhyuk before rehearsal starts so that its 'more fun’ because jazz is 'all about rebellion against the status quo’ like ok
he worries a lot bc he feels like he needs to carry the entire band on his shoulders bc he’s a drummer and therefore The Most Important
but then everyone always says “but we’re all drummers!” and he feels a little better abt it
probably cries after every performance
#MONSTA X#i .... literally can t believe i actually wrote this this is so embarassing#noah fence but monsta x + jazz = insert heart emojis here bc im not on mobile#my two favorite things in the world . . .#anway#L.txt

#1 - Ryu (Street Fighter)
Well, who better to start with then the most recognizable fighting game character of all, right? Ryu came from humble beginnings in Fighting Street. However it was Street Fighter 2 that he would stake out his name in gaming history, and establish himself as the flagship character of Capcom’s flagship series. He had the same 3 special moves that would come to define him and arguably the entire genre of fighting games, period. His Hadoken fireball, Shoryuken dragon punch and Tatsumaki tornado kick and the motions associated with them are pretty much the bread and butter of any fighting game. As such, Ryu is the fundamentals of fighting games boiled down to a science. It might be extremely boring cause its been literal decades, but its what works.
Throughout the various main line Street Fighter titles his moveset has changed very little, he has always had the three central specials and then is just adjusted to fit the specific game’s systems. His fighting style is just standard karate stuff. It supposed to be an “assassination” art and I suppose he could kill someone with his fists that are the size of his head, but it doesn’t particularly scream “assassination” to me. He has that one move in Street Fighter 3 where he does a donkey kick that sends you flying across the screen, and I think that’s probably one of the more interesting things he has been given. His super moves are just big fancy versions of those three specials. They’re nothing really to write home about. Ryu can be played in a variety of different ways but he is most optimal when you just stick to your fundamentals, and play conservative and safe. A good litmus test for a fighting game player is if they can beat a Ryu who sticks to his fundamentals. It may seem simple but actually there is little in the world more frustrating than dealing with someone who knows their shit with Ryu. To underscore this fact, Ryu generally places high on tier lists for every main Street Fighter game.
The thing with his moveset is that despite it being as solid as you can get it doesn’t necessarily translate to interesting. He is a mascot character so he shows up in almost any crossover fighting game Capcom puts out and he has even shown up in Smash Bros. However in those games he is still just plain old Ryu and theres really nothing to make him stand out. Like sorry grandpa, but your moveset stopped being fun in the late 90s. I guess in Smash Bros it kinda owns, but in the Marvel games, or in games like the extremely obscure Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, he is just stale bread. He can’t help it, he’s the mascot, but I don’t think its particularly exciting to play him in crossover games. IMO there are more unique representatives from Street Fighter that translate far better to those formats.
Ryu’s design is something that really never changed. His trademark gi and red headband are also genre-defining and have inspired countless copycats. He was also given gloves after Street Fighter 3 which complete his iconic look. I think his design on its own is pretty solid. You can take one look at Ryu and have a definitive idea about what he’s about and what he represents. There’s nothing confusing about it. I like that. I also like that they decided to stick with the black spiky hairstyle. His original hairstyle was this musty, almost orange looking brown, and he looked like the fifth Beatle. In Street Fighter 2, it looked marginally better, but it was less “extremely battle hardened karate fighter” and more “guy with a bad case of bed head.” He looked like a total dork. It’s actually stunning how ugly it looks when they recreate his original look in later titles. In Street Fighter V, Ryu can now sport a beard and go totally shirtless, to show he has aged and become more wise. He looks like sort of like a Japanese lumberjack, or a really hot dad. Hot dads are always a plus. I however don’t think Ryu would make a good father. He is always disappearing to far flung regions of the universe to fight strong people. That sounds like a deadbeat dad to me. Just like Goku, who is iconic, but also extremely boring and a deadbeat dad.
As far as Ryu goes, he is what we could consider the standard. That means he’s not average, but he is like the bar for a decent fighting game character. I think he’s boring personally, he has all the personality of a wooden plank. However there’s nothing changing the fact he’s the most iconic fighting game character ever both aesthetically and gameplay wise. And you are never going to see him substantially change because the fans wouldn’t like that. 50 years from now, assuming we all aren’t dead from heat stroke or natural disasters, I imagine Ryu would still be the same. I will give Ryu a 8/10 which is a decent score to give an iconic piece of media that you personally find boring.

Studio Jewelry: Where did you get that?
By Antoinette Rahn
Above, three caged crystal amulet necklaces, featuring citrine, quartz and amethyst, priced at $110 each and available from Chase + Scout Design.
There’s a familiar saying “Everything old is new again.”
Fortunately for anyone immersed in the antiques and collectibles universe, old is new all the time. And that is very good.
Sometimes an item is new because of a change in owner; new because it’s a recent discovery; new because there’s an element of design/provenance that suddenly becomes evident; or new because of a renewed appreciation for the traditional techniques used in creation. Such is the case with studio jewelry. These modern-day collectible accessories represent the value of unique hand-made creations. The inclusion of ‘found objects’ also honors the timeless relevance of centuries-old jewelry making practices.
Discover exclusivity in studio jewelry
Interest in studio jewelry is very much alive today. Studio jewelry pieces are often one-of-a-kind items made by hand. They feature various materials of nature and are produced in a studio setting. Visiting online sites including Etsy, and keeping an eye open for studio jewelry at craft fairs and artisanal markets can be quite rewarding.
“I believe studio jewelry speaks of what jewelry has always been and what it means to people,” said esteemed jeweler Nancy Schuring, founder of Devon Fine Jewelry, located in New Jersey. “We’ve seen an increase in interest for it as more people are looking for something that is truly unique. There is so much that is mass-produced today, to have something that is designed and made by hand is quite desirable.” In a way, she adds, it harkens back to how jewelry was made centuries ago and is representative of antique jewelry collected today.
For Claire Mannheimer, owner of clmjewelrydesign.com, the appeal of making jewelry is multi-faceted. It is a combination of various aesthetics: art, history, nature, and in some ways philosophy.
Tap into timeless jewelry-making techniques
“I have always had an eye for design. I love to make things, and I am very detail oriented. So, I knew
Hand fabricated ring boasting green sea glass, shell fragment and brass accent, priced at $265 and available at www.clmjewelrydesgin.com
I’d be well suited for the medium. But it was the desire to learn how to use tools I had never seen before that attracted me to the discipline,” states Mannheimer. Her earliest foray into ‘jewelry making’ took place when she was five or six years old, she explains. It was while participating in her older sister’s beading birthday party.
Professionally, she’s been fabricating jewelry from metal since 2011. She began taking jewelry classes at Humboldt State University. However, it was almost by chance that she discovered the world she is wholly immersed today.
“My fascination with this field started when I was taking Art History classes at Humboldt State. The Jewelry & Small Metals Studio was across the hall and I would hear the tapping of hammers and the buzz of drills every time I would walk to class. There’s something about learning how to use specialized tools for very specific reasons that attracted me to the medium.”
Understand techniques to better appreciate design
The timeless techniques and tools of working with metal were also part of the appeal for Elle Green. She is the owner of Chase and Scout Design, located in Austin, Texas. At the age of 16, she took a silversmithing class with her parents. This ultimately led to fabrication classes. The trio initially attended the class to learn more about methods used to make Native American jewelry. The focus of their interest was based on authenticating pieces.
“My father was a dealer of ethnographic art and at the time the market was being flooded with factory made faux native jewelry,” reports Green. “Sometimes the best way to learn how to identify something is in knowing more about construction methods. This can apply to all facets of the antique trade.”
Green spent a few years working in the antique trade as a dealer. During this time her focus was largely Art Deco and Mid Century Modern. The ‘thrill of the chase for antiques and vintage’ was fulfilling and fascinating, she recalls. However, the desire to produce her own work prompted her to shift gears. In 2008 she picked up silversmithing tools for the first time in 15 years.
See symbolism within studio jewelry
‘Lotus Bracelet’ featuring amethyst and tsavorite set in 18K gold by Paula Crevoshay. The lotus flower is viewed as representative of mental and spiritual purity and enlightenment.
Early on, Green states, she was influenced by modernist designers like Alexander Calder and Georg Jensen. Yet, her personal interests lean toward more elaborate symbolism of Victorian and Georgian mourning jewelry. In addition, with the appeal of more primitive traditional personal amulets drawing her in, her own design style took shape.
Similarly, personal life experiences were significant aspects of the blossoming creative and personal influences for Paula Crevoshay (www.crevoshay.com). Her entry into the world of jewelry making occurred in 1978, while she was on what she describes as a “magical mystery tour.” Her late husband was researching ancient Buddhist text at the time. The couple made their way to Southeast Asia, to live, travel and work for a period of four years.
“I was exposed to ancient art of all kinds, jewelry from many cultures and the brilliant colored stones that come from many Asian countries,” recalls Crevoshay. Over the years she’s come to believe each and every piece she creates has a destined owner. “I lived in a Tibetan Monastery for much of that time and was highly influenced by sacred Tibetan art and painting as well. It is there that I began to hone my craft in hand making jewelry.”
Honor natural elements and objects
Crevoshay says she still incorporates ancient techniques in designing jewelry today. Some of those techniques are granulation, hand piercing, engraving, and bezel setting. She cites exposure to rich gem and mineral deposits found in many of the countries she’s traveled and lived, as transformative experiences within her life and artistic development.
Part of the common core of studio jewelry is the presence of natural elements or familiar every-day objects. That may be the inclusion of physical items, as well as the representation of nature within the design.
Schuring and the team at Devon Fine Jewelry have worked with a variety of everyday items to create unique jewelry. Some of the materials that come to mind, explains Schuring, include fossils, shells, pyrite beads, shavings from billiard balls, Fordite (see Fordite sidebar). And even baby teeth from a horse. The teeth came from a woman who had collected equine baby teeth and commissioned the jewelers to create a piece of jewelry featuring a tooth, Schuring explains.
“It was a unique project. My husband is a dentist so we were able to collaborate and create something special for her,” she states. “As the woman explained to us, ‘it’s hard to find the baby teeth of a horse after they’ve fallen out,’ and having it as a piece of jewelry became a precious treasure for her.”
Transform found objects into uncommon accessories
Working with found objects to create studio jewelry pieces can occasionally present a challenge to
One-of-a-kind brass asymmetrical necklace with metal work mimicking the striations in the agate shown at center. Scrap metal accent, a small blue piece of sea glass from a Northern California beaches. $350 available from clmjewelrydesign.
the maker. However, the excitement of meeting that challenge and creating a truly unique piece is remarkably rewarding, according to Mannheimer. In fact, she still has the first piece of professional jewelry she ever made. It’s a pendant made from brass sheet metal. She describes it as something ‘super weird, organic, and detailed.’ It’s also an item she wears to this day.
“I think it is a necessity to reclaim materials and objects rather than extracting more resources from the Earth. Even if you’re not an environmentalist, it at least makes sense from an economic perspective to use your scrap metal and collect bones and shells and sea glass rather than buying diamonds and gold,” states Mannheimer. She draws on an appreciation and awareness forged while growing up near the Point Reyes National Seashore. The area comprises about 70,000 acres of preserved coastline. “I also like having the restriction of working with what’s in front of me. When I am limited to working with remnant pieces of metal and things I’ve collected that’s when I’m the most creative.
Admire message studio jewelry evokes
“Using reclaimed materials or found objects in art, especially jewelry since jewelry there is this association with luxury and heirloom. You are elevating those objects to a level of preciousness. When I take something like beach pebbles, deer teeth, or sand dollar fragments and encapsulate them in silver I am honoring the value of the ordinary, and organic processes of nature.”
It’s also about making pieces that speak to the artist, the person commissioning a custom jewelry item, or a person who inspires a design.
“The joy of studio work is that my designs are based on what speaks to me; it doesn’t speak to everyone, but it shouldn’t. Jewelry should be very personal and chosen with intention,” says Green. She credits the inspiration for her line of honeycomb jewelry to a friend who raises bees and bottles honey. “Clearly, not everyone can or wants to raise bees, but the organic symmetry of the honeycomb speaks to people on a more primitive level. It’s very pleasing to look at a honeycomb or the spiral of a sunflower.
“Wearing a honeycomb ring can give anyone a feeling of connection to nature regardless of how physically removed they actually are from a natural setting.”
In addition, Green takes her appreciation for this particular source of inspiration one step further. She donates a portion of the sales from the line to a conservancy group studying the collapse of bee colonies.
Hone design talent over time

Regardless of the source of inspiration and material, transforming items and experiences into unique pieces of studio jewelry requires time, skills, and a mindfulness to see beyond the obvious.
For Crevoshay, her primary process involves designing, drawing and coloring the piece to scale. Then she creates a stone map, drafting the finding and details. The next step involves working with artists to create the one-of-a-kind pieces that she designs. In Mannheimer’s studio, which she describes as low tech, her work involves basic tools. These tools include a jeweler’s saw, small hand tools, and tiny files to round edges of sheet metal. In addition, very fine grit paper to sand sharp edges is commonly used. Plus, she relies on an acetylene torch tank attached to a hose and a torch tip for soldering.
“A major lesson I’ve learned from this discipline is that proper planning and the correct order of operations really goes a long way,” adds Mannheimer. “I’ve learned many times the hard way that when you try to take shortcuts they end up backfiring on you and it either takes a toll on the quality of the work, or you spend twice as long fixing what you thought would save you time.”
Commit to exploring materials and methods
Green echoes those sentiments. She also cites yearly attendance at intensive metalsmithing training programs as a benefit. This adds to her desire to be fully involved in every step of the jewelry-making process.
“I am involved with my work every step of the way. I design, carve, fabricate, enamel, set stones, cast, polish, photograph, describe, package and send each piece with love and good intention,” she states. “It’s a lot of work and devotion. I am hands on and I hope a little of that happiness and joy travels along with each piece.”
That devotion to the process and keen attention to details is also at work in the pieces created by Schuring and the team of Devon Fine Jewelry. It’s also what contributes to emotional and memorable interactions with customers. Case in point, Schuring recalls when a woman commissioned the company to create an item of jewelry with a single flower pattern from her grandmother’s china, with the china pattern serving as the centerpiece. The woman had inherited the set, and after many years a single plate was all that remained. The only intact China plate from the set was handed to the Devon Fine Jewelry team, to be strategically broken in order to extract the singular flower image to be incorporated into the item of jewelry.
For this commissioned work, Schuring turned to additional assistance from family members, including her brother who is an engineer and her sister-in-law who is an expert in stained glass. Today the woman has a piece of studio jewelry unlike any other, and a beautiful item of great sentimental value.
Invest in individuality of studio jewelry
In studio jewelry making, as in other aspects of life, time (as well as money) is a factor to consider.

Of course, these jewelry makers state, it all depends on the type of piece being designed and the materials involved.
The initial design is a large part of what drives the time required for Green to complete a piece. She says her pieces range in price from around $90 for the honeycomb pendants up to $500 for larger pieces like her orchid collar piece, with prices for custom pieces assessed according to the request.
On average, Crevoshay says her ring creations take six to eight weeks. Bracelets require upward of six months. And masterworks require the greatest amount of time. Among her more popular creations are the flower pieces, which on average take at least one year to create.
“To preserve my mission to keep the ancient metal techniques alive and to keep the human element within every single jewel I create I imbue them with those art forms and each of these metal techniques are labor intensive, to say the least,” states Crevoshay, whose jewelry creations range in price from $5,000 to $350,000, with some selling for more. “Time is a key component in any masterful creation.”
Consider time and design when considering cost
It’s also not only about time spent ‘creating’. Allowing for consideration of the design, and how a piece of jewelry is coming together is important, explains Mannheimer. Her creations are available through her shop at Etsy (www.etsy.com/shop/clmjewelrydesign). “Depending on the level of detail, I can spend anywhere between twenty minutes and ten hours on a piece of jewelry. For the more detail-oriented pieces even if I can finish in a day’s (time) I like to work on it over a few days just to be able to sleep on it. I find I make better decisions that way.”
While her jewelry creations range in price from $10 to $400, Mannheimer says the majority of her pieces are available for between $60 and $200.
One common piece of advice shared by some of the jewelry makers and designers, in regard to purchasing and commissioning studio jewelry, is to be cognizant of the value of time and techniques used in making these pieces by hand. It’s a process that may include (depending on the piece) design, acquiring materials, cutting, soldering, sanding, and polishing, among other skills.
Embrace the opportunity to make a statement
Pair of hand textured silver and lapis earrings by Claire Mannheimer.
Acquisition of a piece or pieces of studio jewelry is an unparalleled investment in oneself, or someone special if given as a gift.
“Studio jewelry makes a powerful statement about yourself and how you interact with the world. It’s very personal and it should be,” shares Green. “Giving handmade jewelry as a gift says that you really took the (recipient) into consideration, thought about them as a person and took the extra step to seek out and choose something that honestly reflects a part of their spirit that you love.”
Also, given how some items of studio jewelry perform at auction, there’s the chance that additional benefits could come from such an investment. For example, in early June 2017, an enameled yellow gold, diamond and ruby frog bracelet hand-made by artisans at David Webb sold for $37,500 during an auction presented by Rago Arts and Auction Center. The sale price was more than double the low estimate.

Ive been a female-only trainer my entire life I started out at a female-only personal schooling centre, answered Itsines, who got into the industry just before her 19 th birthday. I know girls, Im a woman myself, I know what they crave, I know how they conclude, I know how they feel.
Fox News: You descent out of college to become a personal manager, started working at a small gym in your hometown of Adelaide, and connected Instagram on a whim after your business marriage and boyfriend, Tobi Pearce, promoted “youve got to” do so. But at what spot did you know that you had really made something large-scale?
Itsines: World Tour in 2015 was big because I got to hear folks floors who followed my planned, and I got to hear how I changed “peoples lives”. As a coach, you sort of anticipate, Well, you did that because you put in the hard work and you put in the effort. But they were so insistent in went on to say that, No, Kayla, it was you. Fox News: How do you pick the person or persons to boast on your Instagram?
Itsines: This is something I expend a lot of season on, and its not necessarily someone who appears a certain acces or talks a certain style. Its someone whos super inspiring, and I have to be able to go on their profile, should be noted that theyve done the program, should be noted that theyre a positive party, and see that they actually have a pilgrimage that other women can follow and be inspired by.

Fox News : What are some of the most difficult misconceptions you watch dames construct when theyre trying to change their bodies?
Itsines: One of the biggest gaffes Ive understood wives build in America is the cutting-out-carbs act. Its, I want to look like this when truly, they should focus on how they appear rather than how they gaze. It should be: Im gonna do this to stimulate myself happier, so in turn, I experience beautiful. Thats truly a mindset Im trying to teach women.
HOW ONE WOMAN DROPPED 100 POUNDS BY FOLLOWING A FAD DIET
Another mistake wives obligate would be going too hard too fast. As wives, we have theatres where we get this sudden reason, we are seeking to do everything Im so motivated, Im gonna “re going to the” gym, Im gonna work out for hours and hours and they work out, theyre super sore, they cant continue it, and they become unmotivated. Its just about taking happenings step by step: maybe doing a seven-minute workout and making it into a 14 -minute workout the next week. Its about slowly improving your workout up until you feel good rather than pushing it very far.
Fox News: Whats your advice for someone who is working out and trying to get more physically fit, but is not realise develops?
Itsines: Take a step back and is to ensure that theyre cozy with their training regime, gobbling the right foods, and boozing enough irrigate. Sometimes, its just about devouring more and doing less thats something thats a very hard abstraction to move to ladies, specially here in the U.S.

Fox News: Have you always been strong and fit? And if not, what challenges did you overcome to achieve the body you have today?
Itsines: I have always been fit Ive been into basketball since I was 5 years old. But in terms of forte, that took a lot of building up. I did that through basketball training and training in the gym. Nonetheless, Ive always been really, very happily married within myself, and thats what I try to push to dames that I contemplate the more you do gradually, the better you start to feel.
CROSSFIT ATHLETE’S POWERFUL TRANSFORMATION PHOTO PROVES GETTING FIT TAKES TIME
Fox News: Any advice for women struggling with organization confidence?
Itsines: We could have the best organizations in the world, but if we dont feel good on the inside, it doesnt question. I ever say to parties, Contemplate about the most beautiful party you know. Theyre not beautiful because they have a beautiful figure! You dont mention, Oh my best friend or the person I adore the most is so beautiful because her body searches any particular acces. Its because she makes me laugh, because shes smart, because shes here for me. Beauty comes from the inside, and the more that ladies start focusing on that, the more beautiful people become, including themselves.

Fox News: Your strategy is truly based on helping women become strong , not skinny what would you say to anyone who doesnt contemplate strong is sexy or attractive?
Itsines: Strong is always sex and attractive! And the word strong what does that intend? Because forte comes from within, and BBG Stronger is a program that promotes dames strolling into the gym with trust and experiencing self-confident as they walk out. When youre self-confident within you, it constructs and it extends, and it glistens out of you.
8 LITTLE CHANGES THAT CAN LEAD TO WEIGHT LOSS
Fox News: Your Instagram is of great root of brainchild and funding. Can you speak a little to why having that sort of support is really important for people who are on a fitness passage?
Itsines: The translations are certainly relatable you can go onto the page and find someone who looked like you before, or who ingest the method you do, or was living in the same country you do. I think that relatability is really nice to have, so “youre not” looking at one particular being suppose, Well, I cant dine that or I cant do that.

Fox News: Your programs are large-scale on poise in that they involve heavines discipline, cardio, extending and resting and, on the nutrition side, even dessert! Why is this mixture so important for producing outcomes?
Itsines: Balance is important in life. It keeps us sane! Why, as wives, shouldnt we be able to have our dinner and eat our dessert? Why shouldnt we have that? For illustration, last nighttime I had some pasta and chocolate after, and I dont feel bad because I chew health and I work out. Everything in moderation!
Just having a little moment of refection. I feel like the last few years has been an absolute whirlwind! When life gets busy, you often don’t get the chance to stop and think about what you’ve achieved along the way! Time is transferring by no matter what you do. So why stress? Why get worked up? Why obsess so much better when you can be happy and enjoy your life instead! I know that’s easier said than done sometimes, but genuinely when you think about it, you SHOULD be happy. You should be able to celebrate every moment. Time will pass no matter what…..so you may as well be happy and do what you cherish. http://ift.tt/1qtdY6U app #bbg photo credit – @alexpreview

Fox News: Do you ALWAYS dine healthy? Whats something you enjoy chewing that beings might not expect?
Itsines: Greek cakes! Theyre Greek tarts with sugar and walnuts.( Itsines mothers are from Kos, Greece .)
Fox News: You swerved 26 in May, and youve already fulfilled more than most women your age. Do you ever feel like, Where do I run from here?
Itsines: No! My patrons are the perfect speciman that age was nothing. Some of them are 40, 45, 50 years old and have the energy levels of a 20 -year-old. For me, whats next is facilitating more women and reading how I can do that to its implementation of getting feedback from all levels of society and with BBG. Its just so exciting.
Flashback !! My favourite thought in the world is satisfying my #bbg girls. I have left every single one of the boot camps, gone to my inn chamber, sat on my plot, set my honcho in my hands and cried. Not from sadness, I wasn’t sad at all! I was the terminated opposite in fact. I was overwhelmed with so much better joy and pride! Until I encountered you girls, I had no idea how much POSITIVE change was appear in all regions of the world. I got to hear all of your stupendous floors and how #bbg has changed your life or the life of someone you love. All I can say is thank you and that I am so so so sanctified so be able to meet you girls and hear your narratives. I would Desire for you to berth in specific comments below and tell others why you started the #bbg and how it changed your life. 8. Overall, what do you think the comic’s strengths are?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
first impressions are that the art has an attractive newspaper-comic style and is very clean for being a rare traditionally drawn comic
RebelVampire
Attractive newspaper style is a good way to describe it. What I like about the art the most though are the unique merger of the complex designs and the simplicity. For example, the faces are a bit simple to match the tone and overall nature of the comic. Yet at the same time, there's all these interesting alien designs throughout that are all very unique. But everything fits so seamlessly together. Which I feel is kind of the strength of the comic. Is it does a really great job with balancing different aspects. Complexity and simplicity, serious drama and comedy, etc. It's one of those comics that feels like warm soup because it has a bit of everything.
Ranger
Indeed, thus far it blends individual vignettes with characterization very well to remain fresh while still maintaining enough coherency to be enjoyable. Will definitely keep reading it
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
I think "warm soup" is a great way to describe the comic! It has this cozy, nostalgic feel that you'd get from a well-written Sunday newspaper comic - but the concept is also super unique and intriguing on its own! - Can we talk about how great of a character Paisley is? She's got the whole emotionless robot vibe going, but she's one of the kindest characters in the comic despite that. And the way her character develops over the course of the comic is super satisfying (e.g., getting a date at the dance)!
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
I'm in love with the charming stylization of letters and layout so far-- its easy to sink in a read some pages during downtime and pick right up for the next read. Page 5 of 'craft time' made me snort out loud, these jokes are always landing and play out well! And as far as fav character, Paisley is so sweet and is def hitting chords for me!
varethane
I love the end of this page where Paisley lights the fire with her eyes to impress the campers!!! http://parkpla.net/index.php/page/book-0001/004-paisleys-day/
RebelVampire
I do like the interesting blend Paisley has going on between being robotic and being human. I actually like that the story doesn't go too serious on the whole theme of humanity when it comes to non-humans. Although my favorite moment regarding Paisley is when the translators break and Paisley's joke is to speak in binary. It's definitely one of my favorite things about the beginning of the comic since I think it really captures both the comedy and unique alien aspects of the comic.
However, if I had to pick a favorite character I'd go with Wurlitzer. Cause I can't even. This is legit one of the most unpredictable characters to me, and I enjoy every moment Wurlitzer is around, because its just the sort of character that causes conflict by being in the same room as any other character.
I'd actually even say my fave moment is the company get together where Wurlitzer is doing introductions and is just kind of oblivious to everyone's attitudes and awkwardness. It's both funny, but also makes the social awkwardness relateable since it's easy to imagine having a boss like this. Overally, though, I also like any moments where the alien thing is brought up. This to me is the best part of the content cause there's so much to explore here and it just brings this really unique concept to webcomics by combining it with a park.
Ranger
Paisley is a favorite thus far
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
Everybody loves Paisley and so do I
I think "warm soup" and "Sunday comic" are great descriptions
But the world with the non-human characters brings uniqueness
Found a mistake on this page:
http://parkpla.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/SM5_tumblrtest.jpg
The dialogue randomly changes into type
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
I love this art style
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
i think the type is intentional
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
That might have been an intentional choice if the artist was pressed for time or something
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
she's talking like through her teeth and mumbling
Eightfish (Puppeteer)
I thought that may be the case, but his text also changes into type? So I think the author typesets by hand tracing over typed text, and forgot to do it here, maybe?
Comic Tea Party
DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 2
9. What do you think happened to the humans and Earth? What do you think necessitated the creation of the park, and do you think it’s helping to preserve what’s left of Earth?
10. What moment of the work mixer did you relate to or enjoy the most and why? What about the entire scenario in general captures what it’s like to socialize at events like this?
11. What aspect of human-alien interaction have you enjoyed the most so far? How has this changed or given context to your thinking in how much of our lives are culture based?
12. What do you think this comic can teach us in general about fitting in with others, especially when we personally feel socially outcasted?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
RebelVampire
To address one of the prompts I didn't get to, I like seeing Wurlitzer interact with basically anyone. I never really know what I'm going to get when it comes to Wurlitzer, so any strip goes to unexpected and fun places in those cases. Onto story stuff though! As for what happened to the humans, definitely some sort of mass extinction event. Probably something like climate change not fixed because of the fact they're also trying to preserve animals from earth as well. So I have a distinct feeling Earth isnt habitable in the comic's setting. >_> I also mentioned my favorite moment from the mixer earlier. However, in regards to the second part of the question, for me what really capture what its like to socialize at events like this is the facial expressions. Every single person is just a bit stiff, and even if they arent miserable, theres this hint in their expressions that they don't really want ot be there. And I feel most ppl feel that way about company get togethers. It's more tedious than it is fun. XD For human-alien interactions, it's actually probably this strip http://parkpla.net/index.php/page/book-0001/005-upcoming-events-at-hartwood-park/ Particular the last panel where the alien is making fun of ice cream for being so filled with sugar. I kind of feel this comic in general is a good reminder that "normal" is malleable. What's normal somewhere really isn't normal elsewhere. And it's usually the stuff we take for granted as normal. Like I'm sure one day there'll be aliens who see us eating with forks and go "WTF are these weirdos doing they have perfectly good hands." But either way, I kind of feel the comic shows a lot of scenes like that where just a bunch of mundane things are novel and weird to aliens.
Comic Tea Party
DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 3
13. What are you most looking forward to seeing in regards to the comic?
14. Any final words of encouragement for the comic?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
RebelVampire
In regards to what this comic teaches us about fitting in, i think for one, it's difficult. However, I think it also shows a little bit that we'll never fit in if we don't try. Like certainly the mixer was awkward, but imagine if nobody had gone to it. Nothing is ever gained by not trying. Also, I think this comic also kind of teaches a bit of self fulfilling prophecies. In that if you think too much that you won't fit in, then you probably won't fit in because the confidence just isn't there. Anyway, what I'm most looking forward to the comic I think is just learning a bit more about the human situation and also just seeing in general more human-alien interactions. I think this is the most interesting part of the comic since there's so much you can do in regards to questioning what is universal and what is just being human, and the writing is pretty all around great with this interesting aspect.

snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
I like the dark tone of this comic. It really reminds you of the more horror-esque side of classic fairy tales that you don't see in modern interpretations (well, ok, you see it in SOME modern interpretations, but not many). Though, I didn't realize what sort of comic this would be going in (I figured it would be something more akin to "the five people you meet in heaven"). So when people started calling Hans "Hansel" and he came across an old cottage I was face-palming a bit lol. I really like the interactions between Hans and Reineke. It feels like this is probably the first time Hans has actually followed through with taking care of someone like he always wanted to do as a kid, and as the story progresses we see the beginnings of Hans unlearning the lessons taught by his father and his country thanks to the interactions with Reineke. Every action and inaction you take has a consequence, and every life has purpose and deserves love (even if nobody else believes they do).
Ed-Money
Agree on the tone. I think the art really contributes to that. I had some trepidations going in as dark fairytale has been played out so many times that you wonder if this will bring something new to the table. But making the setting WWII and a turn to more of the Germanic fairy tales made it work really well. I haven't gotten very far in it but I am really interested in seeing if Hans continues this sort of upward development or if it becomes rockier and there's some relapses. What do you think?
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Well Not gonna spoil the rest of the reading for you But there is a pretty solid answer to that question lol
RebelVampire
What I like about the beginning of the comic was just how I didn't really know what to expect. Without reading the synopsis before hand, I was presented with a historical fiction setting, yet the art gave it this super eerie tone that made me on edge. So when the fantasy stuff started entering the picture, I was doubly intrigued because it was just not something I was expecting to happen. My favorite moment in the comic so far was actually probably the air battle because of the illustrations surrounding it. Just this beautiful mix of reality and fantasy that really catches your eye, and just overall the emotions felt so high and onpoint for the scene it's really stuck with me. My favorite character so far is definitely Hans. I just love how Hans is this really kind of vulnerable person. And while he has clear flaws, this vulnerability makes him so likeable. It really captures that quick nice niche of horror where the character isn't so helpless it's just a stealth nothing you can do scenario, but the character is also up against stuff beyond their skills so you're frightened for them. The characters I liked seeing interact the most were Hans and the Valkyrie. Cause I could not figure out where tf the Valkyrie stands on Hans, and there were so many hints dropped in that moment that I just want them to meet again so there can be even more context given.
Regarding the art, I just love the overall dark tone and constant changes to match the atmosphere. Like even though theres a cohesive style, the art can change very drastically to emphasize just the right points for each scene that really pulls me in. As for a theme the comic explores, I just gotta say it - I am a sucker for stories that humanize two sides of a war. Cause at the end, most soldiers are just people who are getting screwed over because people in charge couldn't be not jackasses. And while I wouldn't say this is a big theme, I do still like it's there. As for the what I like about the comic's story, honestly, just kind of everything. This is one of those comic's where I went in thinking, "Hmm I don't think this will be my cup of tea." and then I come out of it going "That was amazing." I love the dark fairy tale aspects, the realism aspects, the strange world, etc. It is all just wonderful. As for the comic's strengths, I think it's the art. The art for me is really what sells the dark fairy tale aspects and puts in that extra oomph of horror for each scene.

DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 2
9. Is Hans Vogel actually dead? Regardless of yes or no, why do you think he is where he is? Additionally, if Hans is “dead”, is it possible for him to die again? If so, what do you think would happen to him at that point?
10. Over the course of the story, how do you think the events will change how Hans views his own life, his country, and the war he was fighting? Overall, what do you think the story has to say about war?
11. Do you think Reineke is just a fox, or is there something more to Reineke? Additionally, do you think being with Hans will help Reineke recover from previous mistreatment? If yes, how so? If not, why not?
12. How might Hans change the world of Märchenwald, especially given the war that is said to be going on in the world? Will this change be for the better, worse, or ultimately have no affect?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!

To answer the next set of questions then- I think Hans is "dead," but I also think the comic is asking us to reconsider what being "dead" is. And in this case, I think death is basically going to another world or a form of purgatory. I do believe the valkyrie implied Hans could die again, so perhaps he'd go to even different world. Maybe death is just this endless world traveling where each world is progressively worse in the comic's setting. Although I really do lean towards more this is purgatory. I think over the course of the story, I do kind of feel like Hans is going to come to think war is bad because it means lots of people die, many for no good reason and many who aren't even combatants. And I think overall he'll look back on his accomplishments with much more shame, not even just based on the side he was on, but just on the true horrors he did in the name of war. Basically, war sucks, people die, and while sometimes it's a necessity, war leaves scars that can't be healed. So I kind of think the entire world is composed of people who, like Hans, died. So while Reineke might be a fox in that world, perhaps Reineke was a human like Hans back on Earth - hence why Reineke is so insistent about the mix up. I do think Hans will help Reineke grow though, as I think Hans will just show decent kindness and respect that screams "hey sometimes you can trust people." I think Hans will stop whatever war has been going on in the world while overcoming his personal demons. And it will surely be a change for the better, though I don't think we're gonna get sparkles and rainbows.

I'm most looking forward to finding out more about the war shenanigans that are going on in Märchenwald. Cause no only will I think this give the story some unique changes in focus, but itll be interesting to see how the parallels might affect Hans. My final words are just that this is a wonderful comic. As I said earlier, going in I didn't think this comic would be my cup of tea, but then it just pulled me in with the dark atmosphere, the mystery, the characters, and so forth.

You gave me the confidence, you gave me the persuasivenes. I was standing there supposing, This is amazing. This is changing families lives.
Fox News: How do you stay sanded?
Itsines: My family dirts me so much better. Theyre a big Greek family, and I live a time from my grandparents, who dont pronounce any English. They know what I do, but its almost like they dont attention. They dont think of me as anything special or as Kayla Itsines from Instagram. Its only that Im their granddaughter. Then once I seemed uncomfortable with how I searched I would urgently try to lose the heavines again until I was smaller then do it all over again! This messed up my metabolism and built me so sad! I have now noticed poise and learnt myself that I can have the nutrients I cherish whilst exercising to perceive large and keep in shape. Having additional load on me formed me feel tired, grumpy, breathless, bloated and miserable .. some people may say I gazed better before .. and to me that is a flattery but I simply want everyone to remember .. it DOESN’T MATTER what you look like .. it’s how you Find that are important. And I feel astonishing thanks to finding Kayla who attains me want to feel the best I can, so thanks girl ‘ I have 10 weeks until my sisters wedding and I am so excited to wear my bridesmaids dress find self-confident ” http://ift.tt/1qtdY6U app

@mysweatlife amazing develop photo To one of the most manner and hard working girls I know … you are absolutely killing it !! I am so freakin proud of you http://ift.tt/1qtdY6U app #bbg #bbgprogress

@healthylife. iv change employing my #bbg program !! http://ift.tt/1qtdY6U app #bbgprogress

Even now, my sees ocean as I’m writing this because it builds me think back to all the amazing times that I have with you all. All I can say is thank you and that I am so so so sanctified so be able to meet you girls and hear your narratives. I would Desire for you to berth in specific comments below and tell others why you started the #bbg and how it changed your life.
