I know this topic tends to be controversial in the fandom, but do you think Chloe's arc in season 2 was supposed to lead to redemption, or was it never really supposed to be a redemption arc? I know some people believe that she was getting a redemption at first before Thomas changed his mind, and others believe it was never really supposed to be a redemption arc. I don't know what to believe because episodes like Malediktator did seem to imply she was changing for the better with her crying to Ladybug, telling Ladybug that she understands being a hero isn't just about cleaning up messes, and telling her butler she can clean up the balcony.
Tbh I'm really confused as well, because even in season 4 (Queen Banana) we see glimpses the suggest theyre setting up something of a redemption for Chloé , by showing her interactions with her sister who seems to want to help her. Then with Penalteam and Risk we see her team up with Lila, suggesting that she does in fact care mostly for herself.
That being said, I think she did learn something at the end of Penalteam. Im waiting for the English dub to come out officially so I can listen and watch without getting upset by the bootleg, but I got an ask about Chloe when she broke her own akumatization, AGAIN.
It bears saying, Chloé was one of the first if not the first to break free, so I think there's something there....
My current theory is Chloé realized she can't be on her own team, but she does not feel like she can join the class and both sides have become pretty hostile to each other. And Lila has a keen manipulation skills, so a target like Chloé is easy for her to get. But I do think at least Chloe has learned she wants to be part of a team, at her core Chloé just wants to be loved. She just doesn't know how to get it and lashes out. But I don't think Lila will give that to her and hopefully Chloé will realize it before it's too late.
Perhaps Chloé will change her ways in season 5. She seems like a good candidate to be the friend who accepts Adrien despite being a senti (not to mention if she's one as well), being one of the few characters who knew him as a kid. Maybe that will be they way we see them repair the rift between them?
All I can say is we just gotta wait and see. But I do think while s2 was a mess, we are going to see something come from Chloé so I don't think a redemption is impossible.
