I used to volunteer a lot before I became a financially independent adult who has to work for a living, and found myself not keeping up with volunteering after that. I decided that it's overdue for me to get back into it and seeing what I can do to help my community. I submitted applications to volunteer at the local library and food bank, so hopefully I'll hear back soon.

I feel a very strong sense of "fuck you, the world CAN be a better place" in light of recent events that I honestly should have felt sooner, but better late than never.

#existential grump #i may not be able to fix politics in this country #but i can do something and that is by definition a lot more than doing nothing #i think a lot of people are losing hope #and i get it but #i refuse to give up or stop caring #theres people in this country and abroad facing injustices even worse than i am #not that suffering is a contest i just mean #i see value in taking something as difficult as this week and using it to fuel a desire to do something #i showed up and voted and it didnt turn out the way we were hoping. now what #and this is the conclusion i arrived at was to stay aware and stay involved #and to get even more involved
