I'm sorry for all you Frieza lovers, but I cant stand Frieza. The character design was awesome, not gonna lie, but Frieza was just a terrible guy. Like, who the hell do you think you are wiping out a whole planet of people just cause you fear them? Most of them are too afraid of you to start an uprising. Even if they did, you damn well deserved it. And the fucking begging for mercy when Goku was gonna leave you to die on Namek? What right do you have to beg for mercy? You killed plenty of people that begged for mercy. Sure he got a little better in Super but I have never hated a character with the livid, burning fury I hate Frieza with. I apologize for my little rant but grrr.

Right below Frieza has to be fucking Hercule. That bastard is just soaking in lies. Hes a really good parent from what I saw, but the lying for fame and money threw him out the window in my book. Not only that, but the absolute effort he put up to keep his fame and false glory was astonishing, and not in a good way. Then, when theres some enemy he knows he cant beat, he whines about not feeling good and runs away. Characters like that just irritate me beyond all belief.

Next on the least favorite character scale is Master Roshi. I realize that this show was made in the 80s(I think) and things like that were okay, I guess, but he was just a walking piece of shit. Like, yes hes pretty powerful and his character design was pretty good, the pervert old man trope killed his character for me.

okay so you know how people theorize all the time hypotthetical situations where different characters would fight a character from another series for one reason or another and who would win. 

anyway i saw one yesterday which was about luffy naruto and goku and it got me thinking because. 

Too my knowledge, both of them are like. some type of latent god? have god like bullshit powers that people got angry about because they don’t mesh with the story line? Theres something about that. Anyway what im most sure about is that both of them at some point maybe several times, have had an arc where they had to save a planet. And, both of their series are finished (they are finished right. at least the main characters story arc? I haven’t watched either series this is all from cross over shit and tumblr.), so their characters in terms of power hhave reached their full potential.

So. im sorry to my boy luffy but naruto and goku would best him in a fight as luffy is now because.

1. Luffy has yet to have an arc where he needed to save the planet. He does not need that kind of power and thus have not achieved that kind of power, unlike naruto and Goku. 

2. Luffy’s character development isn’t even close to being finished??? he has to ‘level up’ enough to  go through 1 admiral, four emperors, and reach the seas of raftel and defend his claim as pirate king. he also has a MINIMUM of 10 arcs left (for each straw hat dream at least, which doesn;t even consider more arcs like reverie and shit or extra plot points so as more poneglyphs, so YEAH) 

luffy’s no where close to being fully leveled up. so right now he couldn’t defeat goku or naruto but once he becomes pirate king he can. like. reddit guys. please learn what character development is and what is necessary to thhe story before making assumptions about who can beat who. its like the one punch man arguement because saitama can only defeat people in one punch as long as its funny too. 

god. i had way to many thoughts on this and i know very little about naruto or dragon ball so it is entirely possible that i could have just said complete bull shit. ah well. fun times!!

Dragon Ball Z 111

Gohan and Krilin have come to Kami’s Lookout to take the Ultra Holy Water, which is the only known antidote to the Black Water Mist that’s turned the whole world into demons.     Unfortunately, theres a couple of obstacles to this mission.    First, Piccolo’s been infected with the Black Water Mist, and he’s champing at the bit to beat up the heroes.   

Second, Garlic is holding Kami and Mr. Popo captive inside these little magic ampules.    If they attack him, they risk killing Kami, which will kill Piccolo and shut down the Dragon Balls in the same stroke.  

Figuring he holds all the cards, Garlic creates a garish new throne for himself and takes a seat to watch his henchmen clobber the good guys.

And they do.  I’m not sure how strong Mustard and Salt would have to be for this fight to make sense.   They must be at least as powerful as Recoome, and probably a lot stronger than that.  

Salt tries to finish Gohan off, but Krillin jumps in at the last second to save him.

Meanwhile, Maron does aerobics while she waits for the boys to come pick her up from Korin’s tower.    Apparently Korin just had that outfit lying around when she complained it was too cold for her swimsuit.   Why would he have this? 

In space, Vegeta is still looking for Goku.   His search leads him to a binary planet.  Maybe this is the same world he was on in the previous episode?   Hardly any time has passed on Earth, so I have a hard time believing Vegeta had time to travel anywhere else.   

Vegeta things he senses Goku’s presence on the other planet, so he flies there to confront him.  

I don’t ship Kakavege, but this whole “Search for Goku” plot really feels like it has a romantic overtone.  Vegeta is determined to find him because he wants to learn how to become a Super Saiiyan, and because he wants to eventually surpass Goku.   It’s a new twist on their rivalry, because the only way for Vegeta to beat Goku is to learn from him first.   He needs something from Goku, and that feels like the start of some sort of slash fanfic.    This shot of Goku in Vegeta’s imagination looks pretty suggestive.    “Well, you finally found me.   So now what?”  

When Vegeta reaches what he thinks is Goku’s position, he finds no one, but he’s convinced that he wasn’t imagining things.   The terrain has been cratered out, as if by an enormous power level, suggesting that someone was here very recently.    So what, then?   Was Goku actually here a minute ago, and he’s purposely playing hide-and-seek with Vegeta?   If not that, then what exactly is going on here?  Is Vegeta going insane?

Back on Earth, Gohan flips out when he sees Krillin suffering, and he powers up enough to kill Mustard and Salt with ease.   I’m pretty sure this episode marked the debut of the “Gohan Fights Frieza” track from the Faulconer score.     For some reason, it never got used during the actual Frieza Saga, but it’s used here, and later on during the Cell Games and  Fusion Saga.

Gohan seems to be on fire, but he quickly runs out of steam when Piccolo breaks loose from Spice and starts attacking him. 

As before, Gohan’s resolve completely fades when he’s forced to contend with one of his loved ones.   Piccolo, on the other hand, seems to have no qualms about strangling Gohan to death... or does he...?

ITS TRICKY WITH CELL TBH

because cell’s villain motivations are weird. he doesn’t kill people at random, every kill he committed was to either achieve his perfect form or in SORT OF self-defense, like when normies attacked him with earths army. i say ‘sort of’ bc he could have just stood there and taken the blows instead of exploding like a thousand of soldiers but YOU KNOW … 

he’s not interested in conquest either, he openly says that world domination is fucking stupid etc, he has 0 long term plans. he is interested mainly in just… being entertained LIKE

idk its hard to explain but his motivations are sort of… less insidious. frieza has the whole galactic emperor thing, buu is just wild, cell is… cell was created to fight and thats what he does. he just wants a challenge bc otherwise theres no point to his existence. ofc theres a CIVIL way to go about that but his personality is trash so u know. I love these two so much. There’s so much potential here, and their dynamic could be absolutely adorable if handled right. A combo of Gochi and K18 lol. 

Most of my headcanons are from their teen years soo thats what they’ll be about. I like to make Marron 1-2 year younger than Goten instead of 4 so yeah keep that in mind. If he’s 17 she’s 15-16.

Plus Ive never liked Valese from GT with Goten. She was cute but seemed like such a random choice.

Anyway, Goten is more like Goku/Gohan than his GT self, at least in the beginning. When he starts hs, he’s super into girls but is just shy/naive. Not to the degree of Goku or Gohan, but he cant’ pick up on flirting well. And he cant flirt back he’s just like uhhh thanks? Once he gets the confidence he thinks he’s suave / cool af but in reality he’s a dork. He’d be trying to act cool in front of Marron once theyre dating while wearing a Power Rangers or some kids show T shirt lolol

Marron is the tsundere type, but only with Goten. She had a crush on him since she was like 7 but he never knew. Everyone else knew it though. Trunks teased him about it constantly but for the longest time he was just like ??????? Anyway, one day it just hit him in the face, and he realized he liked her too but was just a dumbass. Cliche ik but idc lol.

- Goten hates school and as such doesnt go to college after high school. It was never his thing and Chichi didn’t want to push him into something he didnt want to do, so she just let him be. After hs he got a job at Capsule Corp as like Trunks’ assistant or something once Trunks starts working there as pres. They frequently skip work to go to the arcade or train or something. Usually Goten’s idea because he’s a kid at heart.

Once Goten decides an office job isn’t for him, he decides to open a dojo. And there he rediscovers his passion for fighting and starts training serously again (which in turn motivates Trunks to start training again as well. They keep each other on their toes. Though he still doesn’t like all the public eye so they keep the Ki lessons on the down low. 

He eventually surpasses his father and grows his tail back after training with Elder Kai. me

Goten (and by extension Trunks to a lesser degree) should have been the MC of Super that starts post EOZ ignoring all this god shit.

It’s crazy how big some of these movies blow up when out for a limited time in theaters. I remember the theater being packed when the My Hero Academia movie released, so it was no shock that the same thing could be seen for Dragon Ball Super: Broly. It really makes you wonder why they don’t simply release these movies like everything else in North America. Either way, here we are with this new addition to the Dragon Ball Super franchise, and who wouldn’t want to see the Broly movie that those who have already seen it are raving about?

Upon seeing this movie myself, I couldn’t help but have mixed reactions about this movie in contrast to the other two. Don’t get me wrong, at the end of the day I enjoyed this movie, however there was a lot of things they did risky going back to the times of Planet Vegeta and the origin of Broly.

Let’s start with the positives of this movie. The pacing was great. The pacing and the momentum of this story carried over from the same things they did with the Tournament of Power. Not too much time talking unless necessary is always a plus. There was plenty of set-up and things to address about the points in time that this story took place, but we never spent too much time on dialogue over action. I mean, if we wanted that, we could easily go back to the tv series. While plenty of the past was also rehashed, there was just as much new content added to those last moments before the end of the Saiyan race. It was also welcomed that there was more perspective to take from what was going through everyone’s heads at that time. The twisting of Broly’s origins was something to get used to. You get so used to this berserk giant who was just simply out of control and angry because of the baby who wouldn’t let him sleep in peace. Now they’ve added more context to his situation and with greater motivation to hate both Goku and Vegeta. The addition of his father as well was interesting since he steered the direction of this vengeance quite effortlessly. It was obvious seeing where things could go wrong, but it was the role he played that mattered more than anything else.

Planet Vampa nonetheless was a creative destination to send Broly. The exploration of this planet made it easy to understand how Broly would be was raised with that burning desire for vengeance and develop this “unbelievable power”. The exploration in general was a treat since some of the most appealing aspects of Super are the things that we discover beyond Earth.

The difference in Goku and Vegeta stood out from the very start, and that was something worth recognizing for their usual habits that would have gotten pretty old in this movie. They had their moments of playfulness, they had more moments where they took this situation seriously. Overall, they had their heads in the game from start to finish which left little room for predictable errors on their part. The stunts they pulled in the other two movies would have made no sense to risk trying again when the enemy is Broly.

Compared to Battle of the Godz and Resurrection F, Broly is the most action-packed. I mean, off the bat they already did better than the other two movies just for cutting all the cannon fodder. Too many times these stories will lean into everyone getting the crap beat out of them, and then Goku and Vegeta swooping in to save the day. You know, because they can never be there from the start when you need them. This changed things up where we were able to jump right into the fire. The choreography of the fights was the best thing that this movie had going for it. It went without saying that Super as a whole stands out because it took us back to a place where the fighting styles and techniques outweighed everything else. The shift in stances, many counters, and just the flow of one move into the next made all of it so engaging. The only time you could be taken out of the fight is when they start leaning on blasting and effects that are for the most part unneeded. How Frieza was even dragged into the fight was highly entertaining. You just knew that seeing Frieza in gold form had to mean that he was involved in some way. That was actually my favorite moment since he wasn’t entirely taking this seriously until forced to.

Frieza truthfully was a source of humor that I did not expect. We all wondered what his plans would be now that he’s alive again, and this did not disappoint. We learn that nothing has changed entirely for the guy, but he at least thinks before he acts now. Particularly when it came to that one thing that would drive Broly into full berserk mode.

I couldn’t help but have some issues with the transition between the last story arc and this movie. Everyone seemed so blown away by the power of Broly, but this isn’t the first time that any of them encountered this kind of power. Kale and Kefla are the first experience that these two have had against that power level, and they defeated someone with that power level. So what makes Broly so different. Is it because he’s just Broly? A big plothole if you ask me. Especially if they are bold to even throw it in there that Broly could surpass Beerus. Impossible when that kind of power hasn’t even been put to the test against Ultra Instinct. Next we have the power difference between Vegeta and Goku. I was cool with the idea that Vegeta already mastered Red. However, if he was still excelling at this rate, how does Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta have a harder time with Broly than Goku? I know I wasn’t the only one bothered by this too.

Despite the action being able to excite, there was the problem of the animation style which took over when key action sequences were executed. It looked like they pretty much stole the animation style of the videogames. If there’s one way to distract a viewer, it is with drastic changes to the visuals. Especially when you are jumping back and forth between 2D and 3D. I would have preferred something of just a higher quality like what they did with the bigger fights from the Tournament of Power. That was smarter decision-making. This was not.

I would never say that this movie was overhyped, because that is a personal problem. What I will say is that this movie didn’t completely meet expectations. Dragon Ball Super: Broly was action-packed, it was thrilling, and it was humorous. I admittedly laughed more than I thought I would. There just happened to be one too many things that they took risks on that ultimately did not pay off.
