aHhh okay so the discussions of Titan!Megatron on @callsign-relic's blog have fully. FULLY taken over my brain and ive been drawing stuff for it for like the last few days nonstop

the tl;dr of this is AU is pretty much "what if Megatron got turned into a titan/cityformer as a form of penance/imprisonment and now roams the empty wasteland of Cybertron forever" plus "IDW Megatron has really fucked up internals so... what if that, but as a City?"

and of course since he's a Titan, that also means he has a cityspeaker... or three. One per sub-AU thing. Theres 3 options. 3 flavours of AU.

The cuffs and collar are hardwired into Megatron, so I made the lights the same colour as his biolights!

I imagine that on the tops of his shoulders there are solar panels, even if you can't see them here lol.

I really wanted to keep the swirly bits on Megatron's chest from IDW

The second picture with the seekers is (loosely) inspired by a discussion about whether or not Megatron gets visitors or not. I thought about who would visit him and well... I think this is as close as Starscream realistically gets to visiting him.

Extra detail about that piece is that Thundercracker and Skywarp are keeping watch from above! Also drawing Megatron took me like 8 hours because I was struggling with his legs really badly kshffkbfkdsbdk,, the background went much faster, funnily enough.

Optimus specifically isn't wearing his Autobot badge any more.

This isn't relevant in this series of images, but Ultra Magnus's eye markings are only on the Magnus armour. His other two forms do not have them :] (... until he begins to discard the armour, that is.)

Megatron is roughly 3200m/2 miles tall. Technically he could have clouds around his knees, but I thought this looked a little bit cooler lol.

Your AweSamDream art has given me so many brain worms how do you make your lines so thin and smooth??? Any time I try ultra thin lineart it always looks very... first time digital artist.

For me it was first i found a brush i liked and then I slowly just kept making it smaller or the canvas bigger. It's a gradual thing and I honestly don't really know what I do or don't do to make the lineart look good. I think maybe part of it is me doing alot of detailing?

I'll put some examples under the cut!

I don't know if these examples will help because I have no idea what im actually doing and can only guess based on what i think i might be doing æsldkjfælksd I colour my lineart which kinda hides(?) the mess a bit sometimes, smooths it out.

I think its important to note that my lineart isn't actually that smooth, it's kinda messy and sketchy alot because i don't put alot of details on my sketches (comparatively) and i dont follow the sketch perfectly when i line. my lineart would probably count as a detailed sketch for many. (the colouring helps alot!)

For an example c!dreams leather armour! in sketches or older arts its more flat where i draw more dimension to it now which also lets me add damage to the leather which i like doing because otherwise i end up feeling the lineart is "empty?" if theres too much space with no lines

I also paint on top of lineart when i don't like how it looked! (link to timelapse of this art)

In the second example i used a round brush for a new way i like with drawing hair! which is why as i wanted to use my favourite brush in this art, i made the lines so small so i could have more lines in the hair! as my favourite bush is fixed in a flat 20 degrees!

My sketches are generally pretty thick lined compared to what i end up lining so many times one line in the sketch becomes two lines in the lineart! i also draw pretty quickly which I'm happy with for the loser energy it gives the lineart (even tho colouring in the lineart can be a pain when i cant just select it all because of so many goddamn holes) But ultimately when you zoom in you can tell its not that smooth, its just smooth-sketchy but throughout it all which makes it conhesive! (i think) (maybe)

the fact c!dream is my own design i know basically on the back of my hand also helps! it means i can just slap it out without really thinking that hard about it because im so practiced ! (which is why i draw him alot lmaoooo) when i dont know a character as well i stuggle more with thinner lineart because i keep refrencing back instead of just doing what i want. when i draw new characters i usually start thicker and then slowly get thinner lines as i figure out how i want them to be drawn.

and like, again hes been training forever. and then what, this other kid comes along and he arrived in this world like, maybe a week ago? and he still wins. whatever. this is lightweight. but he keeps winning and it isnt fair because hes been training his whole life. and then he wins. he actually wins ultra-ultimate. and he goes on to defeat the wizard king, the thing he wanted to do to make his dad proud.

and then theres like. nickiver, right? sure, this kid is winning the tournaments but thats fine. because it isnt the main one. and hes pretty. and hes firery and stubborn and hes strong and he fights on his level and it's fun and theyre nemises and they argue. and this kid is also just fucking clueless when it comes to any hints about nicky's crush. and then this kid wins ultra-ultimate. and then he sees this kid win pandora's box. and maybe now, if he didnt before, he fully understands the complete weight of defeating the wizard king. because he loves this boy, and he opened the box. he opened the fucking box and he climbed the tower and if he didnt arrive in the world. nicky wouldve done that. for his dad. for his dad's thousand year revenge quest. and again he loves oliver. and he sees him change after defeating the wizard king and maybe they get married and maybe for a bit theyre happy. but oliver defeated the wizard king, which is what nicky was meant to do. it's a good thing he didnt. or maybe not, because it came at the price of oliver.

and like, hes a kid. okay. hes maybe 13, 14, around oliver's age. and he loves fighting and familiars and i doubt he has any friends and i doubt he has anyone. but then he has oliver and oliver is nice but also argues and hes so clueless and hes perfect. hes the perfect guy and nicky loves him and theyre friends (despite their nemisis status). but again oliver defeats the wizard king. and yeah i think nicky probably befriends esther but. he had oliver. oliver was possibly his first non-familiar friend (i do think his familiars are his friends even after the whole thing) and he has him and then he doesnt. and he slips away because of that fucking prophecy. and hes gone.

and also, nicky's scared of being unimportant. he wants to matter. he wants to impress his dad he wants to be important. and hes fucking not, and it's heartbreaking. he was removed from wotww. i say this a lot but every other named character had a cameo. almost every place had a mention. but not nicky (and not giovanni either) (unless you count. french car guy.). nicky doesnt matter. nickys unimportant. nicky doesnt impress his dad. he matters so much to me but overall oliver is the hero of the story so oliver is going to win. nicky is optional in dotdd but god thats better than him not being an option at all.

and something i always think about with the hope and hopelessness line is. nicky holds onto hope. and oliver doesnt. nicky, the neglected, optional, moon coded boy, holds onto hope. and oliver, the loved, hero, adored, sun coded boy holds onto hopelessness. we're given every reason to think it wouldnt be like that. but nicky holds onto hope and oliver doesnt and of course oliver doesnt because hes the hero. hes the pure-hearted one. these things dont just go well. hes the pure hearted one so of course he wants to defeat a great evil, even if it ruins him.

but nicky? he holds onto hope in the end. hope. the character who would make perfect sense to be hopeless, hes the one who holds onto hope. he has hope. maybe hope is all he has. either way, he holds onto hope. and that drives me crazy.

and hes also fun. hes a fun character! hes dramatic and his lines are cute and hes clearly in love with oliver and hes funny and charming! all of this tragedy, and hes so charming still. and i think that does a lot. like, a silly character who says things like 'exactly as i expected... from my NEMISIS!!!!!!!!!' and then you find out hes tragic and his father is neglectful and hes moon coded and he has a moon charm on his coat?? LIKE!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!! AWESOME. and to top it all off. hes even gay.

anyway i love nicky i hope this ?? made sense. if it ever seems like my thoughts on him dont go deep they do im just awful at words & enjoy to make silly posts. i like him a lot

OK IMPROMPTU STREAM OVER SO NOW ILL ANNOUNCE IT A BIT MORE IN DETAIL THIS TIME

Basically, on Steam, my total playtime of The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe is at 278 hours on record (it used to be at 300 but steam took it away for some reason) (it says 276 bc this screenshot was taken before the stream)

that being said, out of sheer spite, total brainrot, and potentially for the meaning of art, ill be keeping TSPUD open on my computer for 1k hours. and streaming at least 1 hour and 30 minutes of it every day if i can of it over on twitch.

easy first spot. i fell in love with this song from the first listen, and when I saw him perform it? i was on the floor. just something about just him and his guitar on stage, plus the set was really really pretty too, so he simply stole my heart. (and i also love that part in the song near the end when he goes "hey!" and the drums start playing and the songs speed up like ugh. pure perfection. i sometimes still tear up listening to it idek why i just admire him soso much)

fun fact: he's actually my lockscreen lol

i can't believe my rant is so long already and i haven't even mentioned the mv, so i'll keep it short lol. but im a sucker for the high school setting (i mean if that doesn't help me romanticise school idk what will atp) and even still his mv is just such a masterpiece.

#2 youth - lee know & hallucination - I.N

the youth mv just simply blew me away. i was obsessed with the concept ever since the teaser dropped and the mv did not disappoint. i'm in love with his long hair, the boba eyes, his outfits, his acting, EVERYTHINGGG. and watching him perform it live and his interactions and dance alongside the other dancers is just so cute and makes me happy everytime i look at him.

believe me when i say this, but i would be lying if i said i didn't get wrecked by jeongin after watching this performance. this was i think the first performance video i watched from the tour and i was obsessed since the first watch. (i literally learned the choreo of the chorus literally weeks after his performance, yeah) i just love the vibes of this song + his siren like vocals so much. the mv was also so artistic and pretty, i loved it! and the thing is, one of my closest friend is jeongin biased, so i get to obsess over his performance a lot with her lol

#3 so good - hyunjin & ultra - changbin

SO GOOD IS MY JAMM!!!! literally always on the top of my hype playlists and always just gets me so energised and hyped up. same with ultra, these songs just give me the biggest serotonin boost. and watching them perform it is just a spiritual experience. hyunjin's dance break has me with my jaw open and changbin's body roll is nothing short of iconic. i only feel that maybe their mvs couldn't do the songs justice (but they both looked so attractive my god), but theres nothing like a live performance so i get it.

#3.5 hold my hand - HAN & railway - bang chan

han is such a superstar. the song is good, no doubt, but there's something about him performing it live that just makes it a 100x better

and um as a bang chan girlie i know this is surprising but just hear me out okay! it's just that i dont really listen to like smexy songs that often and like you'll only find me listening to this song on very specific times, so thus this ranking lol. the mv was also CRAZY. like goddamn, i think it's time you own up to your grown ass adults songs christopher because the only train i saw was the one with my sanity leaving me apparently. yeah anyway so it's just that i don't listen to this song as much as the others, but it's still such a good song though like sometimes you just wanna feel like that girl? this song with give you that.

before you come for me, i know. believe me putting his song here is hurting me almost as much as it's hurting you but probably not as much as lix when he was writing this song cause damn brother, who hurt you?? 😭😭😭 so yeah the only reason this is here is because it's a sad song, and i rarely listen to sad tracks because i use music as a way to like uplift and motivate myself, so i just don't listen to it much.

but other than that, this song is nothing but straight out of a fairytale. the whole beauty & the beast backstory works because he looks nothing but majestic performing it at the concert (i think he has one of the prettiest sets) as well as in the mv! i just love lix's voice so much— i remember making my non-stay friends listen to this and they were genuinely surprised when they got to know that this song was actually sung by one guy.

now that i think about it, this is one of my fav skz sad song (another one of my favs is also deep end!) but it's low on the list because it's just such a sad ass song lol. (but again I do love a good plot twists in songs heh so i love how the chorus and tone of the song changes after the "meeting belle" part)

Snaps crawling out of their cave of work to talk about more character analysis as someone who’s played all the CoD games and likes to analyze things. And the Cold War era is one of my favorite times in history because it’s so twisted it’s interesting. Back when espionage was actually cool.

I would like to do a little dive into this specific dialogue in Bo6. Now I see a lot of people tie this back to Bell which is unlucky given the moral alignment of Russell Adler’s character and historical context.

I doubt this dialogue is attached primarily to Bell because Adler had no remorse twords killing them in Cold War, why? Because Bell was a tool to him, a means to get closer to Perseus who he’s been chasing for near thirty years. Bell was a high ranking member of the group and Perseus’ right hand/ favorite soldier. He brainwashed and manipulated Bell into getting what he needed and when he exhausted that resource, He offed them. Bell was an assist that couldn’t be allowed to be let loose and once the conditioning broke Alder had to remove Bell from the playing field. He never apologized or showed guilt for manipulating Bell, because he wasn’t.

Adler is a very morally grey character who tended to go a little darker for the sake of the mission and his team(theres dialogue that shows he cares, he just doesn’t show it) Adler is known to be a wildfire as Marshall calls him and others know he does whatever it takes to complete the mission. Sims points that out in the Ground Control mission, he pauses Case to remind him that Adler doesn’t play but the rules to do what needs to be done. Bell was just another step closer to Perseus.

Now for historical context, the CIA did conduct mind control experiments on its own citizens and soldiers. MK-Ultra was a real division and although the drug in the game had a fictional name, it’s based off of real compounds MK Ultra created using LSD and other amounts of hallucinogenic chemicals. The CIA experimented these compounds during this time to try and do brainwashing, they did this to US soldiers and citizens and the people who were exposed to these tests experienced very horrible things as it’s injecting an almost lethal amount of chemicals into the body in attempt to control them or get them into a more easily wavered state.

The reason why he says “don’t ask” is because these the experiments were brutal and a lot died and many threatened into secrecy. Adler isn’t known to dwell on the past and he also probably couldn’t speak of them /or didn’t want to remember what happened. It’s more of a “you don’t wanna know.”

Now I am all for headcanons, I love seeing Adbell content because that dynamic is so toxic and intriguing, it’s not my favorite pairing but I love to see what people do with a blank slate like Bell and turn them into this incredibly complex and interesting character. I mainly wanted to analyze this because I see a lot of people missing key parts, mostly TikTok/ppl who haven’t played or even watched the whole gameplay. There’s a lot of reaching in the cod community and especially on certain platforms (cursed clock app) the lore gets blurred and people forget what’s canon.

Faba and Wicke are secondary characters who don't play much of a role in the story so i also get why they aren't very popular...but they Could Be That Deep if you believe in them...Wicke basically double crosses Lusamine by helping Gladion and Lillie get away from her while still continuing to stick around as Assistant Branch Chief? she's the one who works with Interpol on the Ultra Beast Nonsense post-game? she used to be a trainer and went on a Pokéjourney through Kanto once? my non-comprehensive, sometimes inconsistent approach to ultra biology

disclaimer: im just having fun, this is all bullshit, theres no singular biological headcanon i agree with here, i just pick and choose whatever i think works best for the thing im making. yay!

mantles and shells

ultras are like invertebrates to me. i think if there was one way to summarize my ultra hcs, its invertebrates. i may be biased because i love bugs, but lets ignore that for now.

many ultras (specifically m78 ultras) share a couple of common traits. the rubber suit, the silver/metallic faces, glowing eyes, and occasionally they might sport a bit of armor. now ive seen some works that imply this armor is removable. to me i think its more appropriate to compare them to... the humble mollusc!

now, molluscs are diverse like any other phylum and their traits do not manifest in a singular anatomical diagram like this might imply..

that being said, i like this diagram for discussing ultra biology. as you can see, there is a pink layer between the shell and the rest of the body. this is called a mantle. the mantle covers the organism's visceral mass (this is a particular soft region that contains internal organs). its also responsible for creating mollusc shells. snail shells, for example, are formed due to the mantle.

now i'd also like to quote this bit from wikipedia: "The four most universal features defining modern molluscs are a soft body composed almost entirely of muscle, a mantle with a significant cavity used for breathing and excretion, the presence of a radula (except for bivalves), and the structure of the nervous system."

so. how much of this do i think can be referenced for ultra biology?

ultras, by default, have these soft bodies. the only exceptions, across all ultras, is their metallic face. i imagine this is the main shell grown by their mantles. relatedly, these harder structures tend to be located around the head and torso region, meaning to me that this mantle-like organ is located on the upper body. it can also form a secondary shell on their chest, like with zero here. that being said, these shells are like body parts, so theyre Not removable unless you want them to bleed out..

on some level, i think of mantles being spacium-based but im not fully sure how to articulate that yet.

crystals

so if i think these shells are similar to mollusc shells and produced by the ultra-equivalent of a mantle, do i believe this is case with forehead crystals or body crystals?

well, i think of crystals as a separate growth. the main thing that separates these structures from the previously mentioned shells is that they're evidently more light-based than the primary/secondary shells. so much so, that they're how some ultras generate beam and light-based attacks. i generally think of crystals as internal structures that have grown outwards into external structures, almost like tusks. they're basically hardened light-based structures, not quite light and not quite shells.

petrification

we see ultras being turned into stone more than once. beyond the actual in-canon reasoning we receive, i like to think this is a natural reaction similar to the other forms of biomineralization i mentioned.

the mantle and shell(s) are a more physical set of structures than the rest of ultra's biology. i would say its an ultra's light/life-force that usually regulates this function. so when an ultra is weakened, and therefore their light is diminished, this physical function would keep running, even without their consciousness present, until the entire body is covered in this shell-like growth. the mantle theoretically can form a stronger, less refined (no longer smooth space metal, but rock-like texture) layer, at the sacrifice of other functions.

internal anatomy and mouths

i think that, largely, an ultra's internal anatomy is vestigial. they likely have typical organs such as stomachs and intestines and reproductive organs, but they just sort of sit there. with some genetic lines, some of these organs and systems have started to be lost with each generation, while others, curiously, tend to remain no matter what.

based on absolutely nothing, i love to imagine that in many ultras, the species-equivalent of their esophagus is gone at this point. their stomachs tend to stay behind, but physically they couldn't possibly eat without some major alterations.

of course, i do think these still-existing vestigial systems can come back "online" so to speak. i think this is a major consequence of merging with other species and beings. for a moment, they experience/live with instincts/behaviors/biological traits similar to their host/form. this can impact them physically and mentally in the process and most ultras don't come back the same. sometimes their bodies can adapt well to the sudden changes and sometimes they can't.

technically, they can use their mouths despite the metallic surface, but since most ultras grow up without learning to move those structures, the "muscles" there atrophy over time. your average adult ultra can't open their mouths without physically pulling them open with their hands.

their teeth are.. somewhat based on molluscs too actually. the OG ultraman suit has sort of human like teeth (if i recall correctly) and i think thats awesome, but i also think THIS is awesome:

heres a diagram of how it works. theyre not biting or chewing the way humans use their teeth, but its more like theyre scraping food into their mouth. i think this is sick as hell. i have no reason for why i like to imagine this, i just think its awesome. idk if i'll ever incorporate it into my work beyond just thinking it, but i wanted to mention it either way.

an alternate idea i have is similar to sea lamprey mouths except more human-like. so i sometimes imagine ultras with multiple rows of thin sharp teeth surrounding a fairly normal tongue. very cool and awesome.. but my main rule with the mouth region is that 1) theres some crazy shit happening in there 2) we probably wont see it because they just dont open their mouths.

communication

i loveeeee linguistics. so i think a lot about how ultras communicate. in fights, humans are implied to hear ultras' grunts and shouts, so i think ultras, despite not physically speaking, still make involuntary, close-mouthed sounds.

they communicate telepathically and i think that would change the linguistic landscape significantly. instead of being limited to words, ultras can convey more subjective meanings with even more clarity, such as emotions and feelings that might carry over mentally. i also imagine "thinking out loud" could be very literal for ultras and children would have to learn very quickly how to keep their thoughts to themselves. i wonder if ultras like geed would struggle with this since they never grew up learning this themselves?

i also wonder if there are certain tones/meanings, such as formality and status, that could be conveyed with telepathy and outside of literal words. maybe you could just send out some vibes and everyone would be like "wow what a polite young ultra" <- and in this case it could become very annoying if everyone just Knew something because you couldnt keep it in your brain. that would Suck.

anyway. those are my general ideas i have. sometimes i use them, sometimes i dont. sometimes theyre contradictory to what is "canon", but i just follow my heart...

chill impassive “just some guy” knight with a “flair for the absurd” who has to send his broken legendary sword, that’s said to defeat a big tyrannical muscly green guy, back in time to unfuck it to complete a timeloop. and constantly breaks swords

also he drops the g off of -ing sometimes so it’s like -in’. and whatever this mhm yep mhm stuff is. and gaslighting people for fun

btw link would probably fuse a snoop dogg snow cone machete if given the opportunity. also unreal air is absolutely something he would deploy ad infinitum for a vertical boost or just grind down rails on and then ragdoll when it breaks into artifact dust

theres plenty of differences though these are all rather superficial. narratively they’re very different which is why i was like “huh…i dont see it” at first

the biggest major difference in terms of arcs is that jade never harbored an attitude or jealousy towards dave at any point. shes not really a jealous person, and she doesnt take dave’s cool exterior seriously she just humors him

and when she did once compare her progress to theirs it was never with resentment. but also dave reassured her really damn quick about it while link’s lack of communication allowed zelda’s doubts to fester

even though i love them both jade’s just plain more agreeable than zelda haha. she’s not like “augh it comes so easy to him” she’s like “wow that’s so cool that comes so easy to him!!!”

ok now thats out of the way. JESUS CHRIST have i just entered a fucking. rabbit hole?? OH MY GOD??? i was a massive fnaf fan in my preteen years, as was everyone ever in the 2010s..ive dialed back my enjoyment of it, ill watch playthroughs of the mainline games and ive seen the movie but thats kind of it. this being relevent bc i watched an into the pit playthrough, and then saw some tweets about it. MOST of them i understood, until i hit a tweet talking abt some kid named andrew?? and how hes not an sci??? and i was like Hold On. maybe its been some years but i cant be THAT behind can i. i know all the important names..michael afton and cassidy and charlie and what have you..

so i look up the wiki for this kid andrew, and it leads me to a story about a ghost kid attatching himself to william aftons spirit and torturing him and shit. i was a bit confused bc like. isnt that cassidys thing? but Whatevs. also the stories seemed weirdly bizzare to me, like not in a hateful way but like. why is william afton getting an exorcism. anyway it brings up a couple (A LOT) of names i dont understand, but what my brain latches onto is this kid jake, who is described as forcing andrew to Stop torturing english willy, at the cost of Now Hes Stuck Possessing An Endoskeleton. okayyy this is fnaf to me. i didnt know this but its abt what i expect from five nights at freddys.

so i head to jakes wiki out of curiosty, and find out he is from, no joke, one of the most fucking depressing stories ive ever read? i dont mean in terms of fnaf, i mean, FUCKING EVER. JESUS. CHRIST.

its like. in the middle of a fazbear frights book. fazbear frights being these scary stories to tell in the dark type books where its collections of spoooky stories that will shape the minds of children everywhere, but like. fnaf themed.

this story is called “the real jake” and i Highly reccomend you read the wiki instead of hearing it from me like. fourth hand. like im retelling a retelling here. but if you want that ultra telephone sypnosis, here you go:

“the real jake” follows a nine year old boy who is bedridden. with cancer. his mother is dead and his father is overseas. jake is taken care of full time by a nanny, margie.

jake likes to talk with a boy in his cupboard, named simon, who is really his father over the phone, through a walkie talkie. at first, jake and “simon” talk about what jake has done that day, but jake cannot leave his bed, so jake gets frustrated that all his stories are so mundane and depression. so one day simons like, okay, tell me what the REAL jake has done. and its a little game of pretend, where jake tells these silly little stories about what the “real jake” did that day. one day, jakes friend tries to get him to sneak out to go to the arcade, and tries to get him there by dragging him in a wagon, but jake is too weak to make it to make it to the wagon and collapses and throws up, and he explains to margie he wanted to be the real jake for a day.

at some point jake and margie are playing chess, and jake gets super frustrated that he cant see straight. margie calms him down and jake tells her that he loves her, causing margie to break down, and then she Later Finds Out The Doctors Are Ceasing Treatment For Him, which makes margie realize she loves jake as a son.

AND THEN MARGIE GETS THE CALL THAT JAKES FATHER WAS FUCKING KILLED. and she has full custody of jake. she cant bring herself to tell him his father died, so she says simon wont be able to visit for a while.

AND THEN JAKE FUCKING DIES.

AND THAT IS IT. THAT IS THE END OF THE STORY . THEY JUST MOVE ON AFTER THAT. HOLY FUCK??? IMAGINE BEING LIKE 9 AND PICKING UP THE LATEST FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDYS BOOK AT THE SCHOOLASTIC BOOK FAIR AND THEN READING A STORY ABOUT A LITTLE BOY COPING WITH HIS CANCER AND THEN FUCKING DYING ALONE. FREDDY FAZBEAR WASNT EVEN THERE.
