Character Backstories.
I want to bring up a subject I've noticed now after watching 5 out all 7 main campaigns that Legends of Avantris offers, within the actual world of Avantris (so that doesn't include Uprooted, WFRP, and Stardust. Though I could also talk about Uprooted but I wont, unless someone wants me too lol)
(spoilers for BDW, COS, EOM, OUAW, and Icebound beyond this line)
The subject of family and parents is something seen a little more and little less through out the 5 campaigns.
I'm a little bit half way through ep10 of BDW so I'm quit a few years back in they're live play style. Not yet having gotten the hang of live streaming or even character creation though their role play imo seems to always have been amazing? I definitely think this is a product of amateur character creation and how close they stuck to 5Erules. But ALL 6 characters have some ties to parents or family.
Felix is looking for his brother, Hyrja has a good relationship with her mom and is looking for her dad. Iris, yes a pharaoh's daughter, but talks about her father constantly, even if its just the "my father will hear about this!." Lufiti doesn't know her parents but from spoilers I think she meets her mum? Caprice has a family with a reputation and seems upset over his mom. Toa, hasn't mentioned his parents much only his tribe but I assume they are part of it. Either way, bad or good, family and parents are a big important subject for BDW.
In COS its there but less. They all have a soft spot for Arabelle. Theres all that stuff with Victoria's father. Theres Shepard's back story of loosing his parents to religious fanatics. Clayton never mentioning his wife and daughter. Kana had a family but they shunned her and of course Sarnax probably has no idea who his parents are and doesn't care to know. Even the backstory with Strahdanya has a whole shit load of stuff with her parents and brother. Again, its this big subject but its lesser, treated as a footnote rather then a plot point.
IceBound and OUAW is somewhere between BDW and COS in this subject. Taishen obviously is his nieces only parental figure and hasn't, to my knowledge mentioned what happened to her parents. Barnabos backstory has a lot of family/parent plot points. Like looking for her father and such. Queenie willingly left her whole family for her feywild friends. Skrimm's mentioned his many siblings, with some concerning distain . An of course I'm sure whatever family Jornir had, they're gone. The subject matter is there, and its treated with sadness, with longing. with regret rather then wanting to forget about it.
OUAW is much the same but on the flip side. There are levels with them, from Kremy and Gricko being close with their mothers but ultimately leaving them probably forever. But Gricko chooses to try and be the best father he can for Hootsie anyway. Like thats huge. An then theres Gideon maybe having a good relationship with his father but again probably never going to see him again, though no fault of his own. Frost hardly remembers his parents and probably never will. Torbek least of all probably never remembers and will never find out. Its 50/50 sadness and tension, of having it but not wanting it, of wanting it but never having that again.
An then there's Edge of Midnight. I doubt, with every fiber of my being that any of them remember ever having parents in the first place. Certainly not Jericho, who's only parental figures in that new form were his best gals. Briggsy talked about his dad but idk if that was just Richie being silly. Yorgrim might have had parents but obviously they're dead. Its not even a footnote, its entirely not a subject. Despite a lot of instances of child abuse and death, but maybe thats why?
ALL in ALL I think its interesting that while the subject through all the campaigns (even ones I haven't seen) has its ups and downs it still leads them to the corner stone of D&D parties and thats found family. An they do it very well no matter if its a plot point or not.

2, 10, 12, 17, 19, and 28 for the ask game ^_^
So 2 and 10 were answered HERE but they weren’t actually like Outer Wilds fandom specific so I’ll re answer them <3
2 - Which of your fics is your pride and joy?
Out of all of my outer wilds fics i think that either Berry-Jam kisses (Time Buddies) or Sapwine and Starcharts (Startners before they were Startners :’}) have to be up there in terms of my favourite fics I’ve written.
I talked about BJK in the other post but SaS is a whole other story.
It wasn’t my FIRST outer wilds fic, that was Time to Go but it was the first time i thought about Chert and Mylo meaning something to eachother. It was the beginning of Startners, my blorbos, and hell!! I named my OW blog after it!!!!!! I don’t think its my best written fic by a long shot, i was still figuring out 2POV perspective and how to characterize both Chert and Mylo but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t live in my heart forever and ever.
10 - Is there a character or ship you'd love to write for, but haven't yet?
I mean probably Gosslate? I keep meaning to write for them but never getting around to it lmaoooo.
If not Gosslate then Cherro. Mostly because i already write for ChertMylo and now that I’ve officially included Gabbro in the startnership i really should write for the two of them huh??
(I actually have some drafts of something i was working on for them but its uh… lets just say its not suitable for this blog…)
12 - What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Written? Gravity Falls.
An INCREDIBLY old piece from back in HIGH SCHOOL about what if Stanley died in the portal explosion that brought back his brother. It’s VERY bad and i never ever posted it anywhere and i never will!
POSTED though? Stanley Parable.
Tethered-Together was the first ever fic i actually posted something for and got that sweet sweet taste of authorship. It’s definitely not my best work, the formatting is all over the place and i couldn’t figure out how to get from the last chapter i posted to the idea in my head for where i wanted to take the ending but people liked it! People really REALLY liked it!
Plus it inspired me to make You Can’t See Me Behind the Screen, a 432 centered fic that is, while again incredibly rough, one of my favourite works i did for TSP. Shout out to that one commentor who commented on nearly every chapter and the commentor who, when i came back to post a chapter after nearly a year of hiatus commented ā€˜HOLY SHIT YOUR BACK?????!!!!!’ Which skyrocketed my confidence to the moon. They’re probably one of the reasons i continued to write honestly.
17 - What is something you recently felt proud of in your writing?
I have a hard time picking out stuff I’m proud of. I’m incredibly critical of my work and i always think i can improve or find something wrong with it. But if i had to pick SOMETHING I’d have to go with the way i write romance. Usually i stuff a bunch of angst in there and call it a day but recently I’ve been writing some softer stuff. Like my Eskerfels fics and Berry Jam Kisses, people have praised me for the warmth and comfort they exude and i gotta agree with them on that one!!!
Outside of my writing tho, the idea that so many people can enjoy my writing and even say that I inspire them to create (You know who you are <3) is just??? Thats another thing i feel so baffled yet proud of. If i can inspire even one person to get outside their comfort zone and try to create their own art, i think I’ve done my job as an artist :}
19 - How do you get over writer's block?
I don’t LMAO. Literally, i don’t actively try to shake it. The writers block consumes me until i jolt up in the middle of the night with a single cool line i want to write down and then the writing juice starts to flow again. Hyperfixations do help a lot tho. If a character can worm their way into my brain enough they usually free me of what ever blocks I’m going through.
28 - What's the angstiest idea you've ever come up with?
SO theres a few?
One is from YCSMBtS (the Stanley Parable fic i mentioned above) where lines of code literally tear 432 apart and unravel them like yarn until they merge into the game itself and becomes the Time Keeper.
The Horrors That Lie Beneath ft. Mylo discovering what’s under the surface of the Interloper, the very thing that was their main driving force. It’s not shown afterwards but they really struggle to come to terms with the fact that the thing they looked up to wiped out an entire race… Like they have an identity crisis about it and everything
Grieving for a World Lost to Time is a Final Campfire fic based around the 5 stages of grief. Each of the travellers gets their own stage of grief they help Mylo through or make Mylo feel, and then Hornfels was gonna be the secret 6th stage ā€˜Finding Meaning’. I never got around to actually WRITING more than the prologue but oughh i want to…
I could actually keep going, my favourite genre is angst and like SO many of my personal OCs i put through the wringer over and over. Literally if you put in ā€˜angst’ into the search bar for my works I’m pretty sure most of my fics will show up lmao.
Anyways!! TYSM for asking!!!! <3

2, 3, 4, 13, 21, 23, and 24! I WANNA KNOW ABOUT YOUR OLIVIAVERSE YES YES
2. Summarize this au in 5 sentences.
im always so bad at this kinda stuff but i will try my best
olivia saves herself and tries to slowly relearn how to live. eli's been saving himself every day for years. mariam tries to keep them (and herself) together. they love each other so much :(. it'll work out, eventually.
3. Did anything inspire this au?
lichrally any story ive read that has slice of life/bittersweetness TBH!! but for the latest thing id say the line tender by kate allen / après céleste by maude nepveu villeneuve (french book saurry)
4. What is a major change you made?
this story used to have magical realism with birds as a thouroughline but i ended cutting that part out i felt like it was Too Much for this story yk... but i do wanna end up writing magical realism sometime soon
(that's why there's a bird in the parking lot in that snippet i posted a while back!!)
13. Write a lil snippet set in this verse.
thought id give a little uni arc olivia + lauren (for the first time? i think?)
Lauren pulls the headphones away from her ear. "Anybody you want to talk to?" Olivia, who's sitting on the small couch bolted to the side of the ship, gives a dismissive wave. "No," she says, still typing away furiously at her laptop. Lauren frowns and lowers the headphones to her neck. "Are you sure? It's been two weeks. No one that needs to know that you're not dead?" Olivia's fingers still, and she shoots Lauren a quick smile, all teeth. It's somewhat tight at the edges. "Nope," she says, shutting her laptop screen and gingerly setting it aside. "It's fine. I'm going to go get some fresh air. All that screentime is starting to make my eyes hurt." She leaves before Lauren can get a word in edgewise.
21. What makes you most excited about this fic?
i just LOVE writing these guys. you dont understand they live in my head so much that putting them down into words is a relief. like i just think that a dynamic like theirs is so fun to write... its about the deep love its about the loyalty its about the care its about the you-might-mess-up-sometimes-but-i-will-love-you-anyways DO YOU UNDERSTANDDDDDD
23. Do you have other ideas for how to continue this au/other fics that could be written in the same universe?
honestly the way im writing this now its kind of just disconnected scenes for fun yk so i could write Literally Anything... BUT for the sake of answering this question i do want to write more scenes for what i call the uni arc (olivia moves away for uni and everything she's tried to ignore blows up in her face)
24. Ramble about something you haven't gotten to talk about yet.
okay. honestly. been trying to figure it out but i lowkey want to make this story christian in some way?? idk like theres christian poetry there's christian fiction (mostly fantasy) but i havent ever read a christian story with These Vibes you know. i want to write a good story that is also christian!! is that too much to ask!!! i have no idea how .... honestly everything i think of sounds cringe and corny but maybe thats the like. social conditioning talking. fantasy stories have it easy because they can have magic and stuff so its easy to integrate but for this story thats like. the POINT is that its realistic and down to earth and they're all just People trying to get by. i cant really make it an allegory or a metaphor yk? it has to be real .... but then if i say "olivia starts to believe in her uni arc and becomes a christian" that just sounds silly to me!! (or maybe. again. its just that the worlds pov is that christianity is corny and silly and it could actually be good but IDK!!!)

Ok, so, i would ask about the hsr oc kit ask game, however i only now just discovered your blog and id rather ask if theres a post or smth about the lore of your hsr oc(s), and, if not, could you tell us about them? Ill then send like 5 questions or smth, or more and or less depending on your preference
I don't have much lore on them yet (mostly because...insecure about sharing them, since I'm not an artist and only a lousy writer), but here & here you can find the two I have officially ''introduced'' already! And here's aesthetic boards!
Additional Info: Both OCs (and potentially future ones) come from/live on a planet I am still working on, because - due to having my original story - I have enough OCs and ''lore'' to be able to work on an original planet for the ''Star Rail AU'' (as I call it), so yeah, it's all still a big WIP!
For the first one, that's Evelyn (they/them), the ''main protagonist'' (or one of them) from my original story; I always use them when I insert an OC into specific fandoms instead of like, coming up with a new character, which is also why I try to keep their lore somewhat close to their original lore, but it's all still in the works until I have all details figured out. They use Ice as their Combat Type (as stated), and I've been thinking that they might fit rlly well to be an Emanator of Finality, but I'm not 100% set on that idea yet, lol. They'll probably ''end up in a relationship'' (let's be honest, we'll never get there) with Aventurine, though I gotta admit I've also been eyeing Sunday a lot more recently, whoops.
The second one, that's Mayday (she/her), and she's one of ''few'' survivors of Evelyn's old team/family back on the original planet! She's Halovian, uses Imaginary as her combat type, and she's on the path of Preservation (which I chose because in the original story, she's somewhat of a survivor and it just...fits her) I haven't worked much more on her yet, and I'm not sure if I'll work on her further until I've figured out more stuff about the original planet. But, if she does end up playing a bigger role, I was considering having her and March 7th maybe start dating.
And, don't worry, I'll be happy even with just one question, so, ask as many as you want! :)
