Police in my city are literally spending their time surveilling homeless people (like, not even covertly, just setting up surveillance equipment in the parking lot nearest the intersection and focus exclusively on the homeless person with a sign) but when our car was stolen they never came out. They barely got a full report. At one point the cop on the phone was like "honestly, this phone call is taking too long for me, I'll call you again at some point" and hung up. And the n.v they found it the next day, kept it in impound for the next 27, then tried to charge us with falsely reporting a crime when I got understandably upset about the process literally saying "since we cant find a thief for all we know you just sent us to retrieve your car for you" of course never having looked for a thief. Despite a security camera definitely capturing the car being abandoned by not us. They literally only care about opportunities to make citizens pay them, and fucking over homeless people

the law office my mom works at was broken into and ransacked overnight and when she called the police they said they won’t do anything because they “don’t do that anymore”??!?!?!!!??
