So Iruma ‘defeated’ Asmodeus on the first day of school meaning that Asmodeus became Iruma’s attendant. I can’t remember if it was fanon or canon that said that, if one demon defeats another, the other will become subservient... just long enough to learn their power and defeat them. I absolutely think this was the case for Asmodeus in the early parts of the story.
That’s not to say Asmodeus didn’t like Iruma, I think he found himself surprised had how open and generous his supposed master was. But even as Asmodeus became Azz-kun, loosened up and genuinely began enjoying hanging with Iruma, I don’t think his true devotion cemented until the Royal One. Even with Azz as Iruma’s attendant, I still feel like he probably intended to break off at some or even just focus more on his own growth. But watching Iruma unleash his potential to obtain the Royal One, to unite the disconnected, selfish Misfits for a common goal and overcome the social norms of the demon world. I think that’s when Azz fully decided ‘yeah this is the demon I will devote myself entirely to.’
#mairimashita! iruma kun#welcome to demon school iruma kun#Im rewatching the Royal One arc#appreciating it more now with the overall context of the series and characters#Azz at the beginning was like 'oh Iruma is gonna take over the school' expecting Iruma to overpower his way to the top#instead he made the class a team and achieved what had been considered impossible#And Azz's vision of Iruma on the demon king throne with Azz kneeling before him#there's debates on if the Asmodeus ability to future vision#but either way he knows the guy he thought he'd repay his debt and ditch has the ability to make it to the top#and moreover is so unlike every other demon that Azz genuinely wants him to get there#the ep after RO where Clara and Azz will not stop clinging to Iruma (my heartttt) is I think the first time we properly see Azz's devotion#that was when he decided he was in for life
