i feel like i look like a bratz doll by way of bushbaby weirdo today and im kind of living for it. the y2k fashion trend is great. i'm able to get back to my roots as a peak oil prepper child in fun and stupid ways.
i think i used to find the aesthetics scene in the city i live in extra intimidating because it represented a set of urban aesthetic choices i could not relate to, so i'd be building this uncomfortable patchwork while i tried to make my self expression look like other people's. but it can't! it doesn't. my cultural context looks so deeply fundamentally different. learning to take that and run with it creatively has been an embarrassing and exhausting exercise full of awkwardness, but also really artistically fulfilling.

ATLA LA Episode 3 Omashu
"We have our anger. We have our grief.. We have hope." It's good to see a message mildly consistent with the LA and the OG.
Yessss let's kill Ozai
This boys gonna die, huh.
THE FIRELORD THRONE IS SO BEAUTIFUL
Ambush kinda sucks though. God, ozai is such an arrogant bitch. He's perfect.
I love the aspect of fire nation citizens being shone to hate the leadership of the firenation early on.
Little Azula
THIS POOR BOY IS GONNA DIE HE DIDNT DESERVE THIS
Jesus Azula just watching with a mild smirk and her arrogance. She is a mad king. Just like her father. Just like the OG.
Her anger at hearing her brother succeeding in a wild goose chase, if only a little <3
I like Katara being self-taught. It shows her dedication, her appreciation to her (nearly lost) culture, and her accepting help from a master of another element *aang)
"Tap into your feelings" shows trauma of watching her mother die. Her mother is still a major drive. Like the OG
"The monks said I never listened. At least I think that's what they said. I never listened."
WHOSE OUT HERE SAYING AANG ISNT AANG LOOK AT HIM
Sokka being a road trip dad is in 2/3 avatar universes.
Katara teasing Sokka aboit Suki is beautiful
Zhao has already snitched baby boy Zuko
Zuko just being a mild angsty teen instead of extremely angsty is fine but I need more.
Even if Zuko doesn't like Zhao there are rules he has to follow.
"We're fire nation. Even out here." He told himself that his entire banishment in every universe. We HAVE TO KNOW THAT.
OMASHU IS GLORIOUS
"What makes you think we're outsiders??" Aang, my sweet boy, you're not wearing the typical fantasy wear. Your clothes are orange. Not green. Don't you know the nation's base shit off of colors??? Silly goose.
Katara taking the lead to connect feels on brand.
Sokka scoffing at people flirting with his sister!!!!
"STRUCK MUTE AT BIRTH" you just know sokka hates that in every universe
Aang running off like the 12 year old he is.
I like them blending Omashu with the Inventor's story and Teo, actually. I wonder if Bumi knows Sai is giving plans to the firenation.
"There spies are everywhere in the city." ... like you're father..??
Aang once again being u comfortable with the description of violence.
I don't appreciate "Sai" allegedly creating the mail system.
Sokka is acting like a kid in a candy store with all the tinkering stuff. He's such a need.
The bombing! (The G)Aangs reaction!! Aang is having another "I can't be a kid, I'm the Avatar" moment.
Azula raving!!! TY LEE!!! MAI!!
Ty Lee seems quirky enough. Mai is still so sullen. My precious girls.
Azula feeling entitled to the throne for helping Ozai fits so well with the end of the OG.
Sokka volunteering to help the mechanist!!!
WHERE IS KING BUMI. I WANT TO SEE THIS BUFF CRAZY OLD MAN.
Kataras mistakes in her bending 🥺🥺
Oop
PRETTY BOY SAVES KATARA
PRETTY BOY IS JET????
His outfit is so good
I like turning Jet into a more calculated loose canon.
Teo and Aang laughing together 🥹🥹 Aang is acting like a boy !
THE ANKLE MOVE FROM JET
KATARA SUCCESSFUL ATTACK
THE WHISTLE FROM JET
The Duke! Longshot! SMELLERBEE! Pipsqueak!
"We're the good guys." The road to hell is paved with good intentions, Jet.
Sokka gushing about his dad to the Mechanist 🥹🥹
"If not us, then who?"
THE TREE HOMES
Jet get that fucking weed out of your mouth
Anarchist!Jet supremacy
"If not us, then who"
Of course, it's not the fire nation.
I like that the show seems to be keeping up with, to a certain degree, that the "good side" can be bad
Katara and Jet sharing stories about their mothers.
"Lately, [my mother's death] been coming back to me." Because now you're ready to begin healing. You're ready for the memories your mind suppressed. You are ready to feel the anger and injustice. You are now "safe" to do so.
The "Fight with everything you have" message/motif has not been lost in this show. At least with Jet
Her mom <333
Now. I am a kataang shipper. I love their endless devotion and trust in one another. I love how their feelings for each other were so gradual you could hardly see it. They are each others hope and home
BUT.. I really like this katara/jet moment
Zuko, love, you're such a Hater.
THE PAI SHO TILE.
I love the charcoal pencil Azula's using. Pretty accurate, historically, if I remember correctly.
NOT JEE BEING A TRAITOR
Sokka, you brilliant nerd. You're so proud of the bird.
Katara, both Sai and Jet can be traitors. They are not mutually exclusive.
Katara, did I just hear your voice crack??? Sounds like emotional anger, I've been waiting for you to rise.
"I don't need proof for that" yes, Sokka, we know you're an ass and we love you anyway.
JET IF YOU HURT TEO ITS OVER
Jet, you're so unhinged, and true to the OG
Thank you, "sacrifice the few to save the many"
Jet's character is perfect.
ZUKO NOW IS NOT THE TIME
"This guy?? Again??" Yes, Sokka. Love the dry humor.
"This is my fight." No, Aangs. This is an adult's fight.
Zuko I understand you're a highly capable boy. You've worked hard to master bending and fighting, but you're ruining the marketplace atmosphere.
Zuko getting hit by an older woman like a thug is missing. No notes. This wasn't in the OG!
THE MAIL CARRIER ROLLER COASTER
Aang is so done with Zuko already, haha
Aang having Zuko’s diary, omg
"MY CABBAGES"
I like to think bending is similar to adrenaline. Where a fear response becomes strong enough to force your body to do something it otherwise couldn't do. Like with Katara's bending.
IROH BAITING HIMSELF FOR ZUKO AND ZUKOS LITTLE SCARED FACE
Zuko looks so lost and guilty, after watching an adult sacrifice themselves for him.
Don't worry, my sweet misguided boy, Iroh has friends even if you can't make any.
"Uh, oh" NO SHIT AANG

- 𝕒𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕠 𝕕𝕚𝕒𝕣𝕪 𝕓𝕝𝕦𝕣𝕓 .𝟘𝟙 -
okay but my taurus moon truly has me in a CHOKEHOLD ?!? for no reason??? like i genuinely don't understand wh-
AND IT'S NOT A BAD THING EITHER LMAO, I ADORE MY TAURUS MOON
it's just confusing cause i dont have ANY other prominent taurus placements outside of my taurus true node (confusing bc my north node is in aries, 2 degrees apart but yk what-)
and i have a relative balance of every element in my chart?
actually wait i just did quick mafs
so astro-charts.com says i have a relative balance of the elements in my inner planets which #true, i have a pretty even distribution but i ALSO just did a thing which i've done before but i forgot the results lol
so i added up the amount of placements per element for the 8 planets + moon + sun + rising + MC (12 placemnts total)
i got 4 total water placements (water dom tingz), 3 fire placements, 3 air, and 2 earth
so here's where my mind is!! why i started writing this in the first place lol
i was studying the asteroids/important astronomical locations in my chart bc i just found out i have access to that info !! and i was researching my true node and im doing this in the following environment:
- r&b playlist is going // "candy rain" is playing and im VIBING, such a jam, im like singing and shoulder shimmying, swaying, allat jazz
- my dad got me cheesy bacon fries from shake shack and had me try this new drink from there, an apple cider lemonade?? so good // food in my belly, tasty, v much vibing
- wearing: this COMFY ass fluffy ass crewneck pajama sweater thing, comfy nike leggings, and fuzzy socks
- location: my bed <333
so i just became hella self aware in the moment and was like "my taurus moon is really showing rn ?!?!!?" bc IS THAT NOT BIG TAURUS ENERGY - GOOD FOOD, COMFY CLOTHES, IN BED, LISTENING TO GOOD MUSIC *R&B* AT THAT WHICH IS HEAVY IN ROMANCE AND SENSATIONAL VIBES YK???
but it wasnt that i was aware that i was being (am being) a big ass taurus stereotype, but i was aware of how at peace and how relaxed and HAPPY i am
like this is truly my happy place: music, food, & comfy clothes (+ bonus points cause i feel cute today !! my aesthetic-savvy libra rising probably feels so swag rn)
& ig logically it makes sense because your moon sign is HEAVY on your emotional/self care related needs and i think music, food, comfort - all those sensory related things (as im starting to learn im a more sensory person than i thought), are all things a taurus would indulge in for inner peace and happiness
it's just one of those moments where i really REALLY see and am aware of just exactly how my placements reflect in me and idk it's just cool to have those moments of awareness, it feels like u unlocked something even tho u didnt 😭
and all of this while LEARNING, learning about not just myself but a field im hella interested in and have a passion for !! and i think that reflects in my prominent sag placements more !! i have a sag mercury, venus, and pluto and i think they're pretty influential? im also a sag cusp - im a capricorn but i was born the 23rd so im on the end cusp of sag and i think that's why i feel a lot of sag energy in my personality
but yeah learning ab myself and something i love is very sag of me // so doing that actively is just making my sag placements (and thus me cause they're a PART of me) v happy <33
long story short: we're v self aware rn !!! and i like it !! v much self aware of the CHOKEHOLD that taurus energy has on my life as well as sag energy // they really dominate my personality it's wild

I'm not allowed to not know how to do something. I have to figure it out, because if I don't figure it out, it fails, and when it fails, there's no one to help put it together again. This is a piece of real life venting that I want to print out and give my ACOA sponsor to try and help me move through the resentments I feel towards my partner and how I was raised.
My apartments ceiling is leaking severely. There's an issue with the new roof they just installed. I take off work, I put out buckets, I call maintenance. Eventually, my neighbors ceiling caved in. I have to evacuate. I get the cats, get my valuables, and I sit in my car for four hours trying to figure out where I'm supposed to go because my partner is the kind of person who never had to figure shit out. He just clings and gets in my face and tries to comfort with physical touch and I just want to scream "I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU HAVE NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM SOLVING BONE IN YOUR BODY SO CAN YOU PLEASE JUST GO SOMEWHERE ELSE SO I CAN FIX EVERYTHING AGAIN THANKS" because at every opportunity i am reminded that he lived a life where he could trust, where he could ask for help and actually get it, and i am the wounded self trying to cope with my unmanageable trauma by controlling every single thing around me and he doesn't have to experience that kind of pain and it makes me angry because why did i have to go through it all? why the fuck did i have to get beaten regularly/emotionally abused/berated for years until i crashed and moved out so quickly that i didnt even know where i was going. i arranged every element of us moving here because i had reached my bottom and i couldn't wait anymore. and because of my haste i am exactly what my aunt believes me to be; someone who doesn't think, who is stupid, who rushes into things because i want it when i want it and i want it now, but it never feels that way to me because how could it?
telling my cousin that i was moving out, he told me i was making a terrible financial decision moving into an apartment bc i wasn't building any equity, and i screamed at him that at what point am i supposed to consider my own emotional and physical safety for once, rather than my investments. steve knew what was happening to me because the last time i got beat and kicked out i stole her car keys and wouldn't return them until she gave me my medication and allowed me to pack my things. thrown out again in my pajamas, i took a fucking uber to the AAA that had my car at the time, and drove to my partners house where i cried on the floor as my phone blew up and everyone told me to go home. and when i told him it happened to me again, he downplayed it. "you know she just goes through these things, she gets frustrated" he couldn't understand, wouldn't understand, because he saw it as a choice this whole time. how could it be a choice, when i know she needs me? but she would never admit that she did need me, she always said that she didnt and would go through these phases where she demanded that i go and i still believed that she did need me because how could she not? the last time she tried to hurt me again i was in my pajamas and i stood up for myself and refused to leave until i could put clothes on. she beat me and destroyed my bathroom because the beating wasn't good enough because she wasn't strong anymore. i got what i wanted, i got to change clothes and leave. and when i left, i went to my partners house again and slept. but always with the boundary. you can't stay here. i don't know how to help you. why is it that when i do ask for help, for someone to take care of me, i'm met with the things they can't do for me? when i was walking around town bleeding from my hands when she clawed me years prior, i asked for help because i had no way of getting anywhere, i only had my phone that time, i didn't think six steps ahead to hide money in my car or when she got mad to stuff my phone down my shirt with 20 bucks in the case--and the person i asked couldn't help me because they had to work, they couldn't drive, didn't know anyone that could come and get me. the other person i asked stated "that sucks im sorry thats happening to you" and then proceeded to change the subject.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I ACTUALLY FOUND THE CONVO WHICH WAS AWESOME BECAUSE IT VALIDATED HOW THE FUCK I FELT AT THE TIME
now the home i grew up in is exactly the way i left it in march, except now there's more damage. every place i hid is exactly how i left it, but my aunt's pain is leaking all over the house, there is so much mess and so much hoarding and she's overwhelmed with it all and the dogs spend all their time in the kitchen because she never comes home and its unfair that i chose myself over the wellbeing of that household i feel like sometimes, because it really was my choice to leave even though i felt like my choice was obvious.
and today, in my apartment with holes in the ceiling (that are now leaking water- by the way) my aunt texts me. "i am here for you". and i cry again because despite everything that has ever happened to me, i feel like i am doomed to want her approval and praise for every decision that i make.
"hey, you know, even though i am panicking, i know i did everything right, i took the video, i called the emergency line, i tarped the electronics, like all things considered i knew what to do for the most part and i'm really proud of myself for that"
"yeah, it's good that you knew to do that."

OFFAL HUNT REMASTERED LIVEBLOG // CHAPTER 19
Tumblr media
IN THIS EPISODE OF MURPHY IS SCREAMING, CONSTANTLY, TRAPPED IN THEIR PERFECT NIGHTMARE:
Glynda was saying: “I know we aren’t friends. I know we aren’t partners. I know you’re a criminal. But—I think I can trust you. I think I have to trust you, even if you’ve done awful things before.”
EVERYTHING GOES WRONG BUT LIKE SOMEHOW WORSE THAN EVER? LIKE A WHOLE NEW BRAND OF LOW. LIKE CINDER’S GOT A PICKAXE AND THE CENTRE OF THE PLANET CALLS FOR AID.
IT’S BEEN A WHILE HUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but dw offal hunt, like the rising of the sun, the arrival of winter, and the eventual downfall of capitalism, always returns. so lets go.
(i just quickly reread chapter 18 liveblog to remember what happened and Ah Yes I Remember Now. The Suppressed Memories)
The place was emptier without Glynda. Quieter.
/gunshot oh we’re in danger right out of the gate huh? we got some yearning right out here? right now? how quickly the turn do tables.
Cinder appraised her work, holding the beige coat up to the light and squinting.
man i forgot. i FORGET. how much i just love cinder in this fic. sometimes she kinda zones to the back of my mind where she sits waiting for me to start thinking about her again, but now i remember that this cinder is Peaque. look at her GO, minding her own BUSINESS. im proud of her. does she know i love her.
It didn’t take long to don her new, fire-proofed clothes.
in another world, in a more comical plot, she used asbestos. it didnt go well.
The subtle warmth of the Dust teased tension from Cinder’s stiff muscles, even as she marvelled at the strangeness of her own bedroom’s space. It seemed bigger now than it had the last two nights.
h
She chose not to dwell on it.
h
i choose to dwell on it! ME!!!! I CHOOSE TO DWELL ON IT. HEY CINDER WHAT THIS GAY SHIT. hello. ma’am. can we look deeper into this. i, for one, would like to, and i, for one, think its of value to think abt this. that said, small segue
Quietly, Cinder murmured, “I didn’t freak out.”
THE FACT SHE SAYS IT ALOUD LIKE EM AND MERC CAN HEEEEEEAR HEEEEEEEER i am. INFATUATED with this family. cant wait for the 100k spinoff thats basically an elongated beach episode where they go to like. alton towers. or butlins. six flags??? thats a thing in america right??? anyway. beach episode. call me. (wink wink nudge nudge push push shove shove)
We had to stop back in because Merc left his favorite binder, and it was 2 in the morning, so it was easier to crash here for the night than mess with the ship’s autopilot.
Tumblr media
them,,, THEM!!!! mercury is just a son and childe. thast it. he canot change this. i love these kids so much i am SHAKING THE MONITOR RN!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAA
Stuck here in one of the homes they’d shared, Cinder missed them terribly. Missed the sound of their voices and the easy comfort of their presence. Finding the time to contact them had been difficult, between managing Glynda and Hati both, but Glynda was gone, and she’d sent Hati onwards to Atlas. She remembered her call with Emerald, before arriving in Umbraroot; she knew it had not soothed her or her fears.
im sorry was this chapter targeted at me, specifically, as a human being on planet earth? GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS FAMILY!!!!!!!!! THIS WONKY OLD BANDAGED UP FAMILY UNIT!!!!!!!!!!!!! i thrive every time they are mentioned on the page. it is a blessing. my succulents grow stronger each time they show up.
“No,” Cinder argued softly, “I had to. Mercury, you deserve to hear it from me as well. I am sorry. And I am promising you: I’ll come back.”
For a long, heart-wrenching moment, he was completely quiet. It was good that Cinder was alone in the apartment; laying herself bare like this would be unbearable with an audience.
GODDDDDDDDDDD AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
i am OBSESSED WITH THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM GOING TO BE THINKING ABOUT THIS UNTIL I D I E. of all thing the remaster does better than og, this is just. SPEEDING AHEAD. this whole CONFLICT this whole MESS just makes everything so much RICHER its like when u splash some wine in yr fancy food or stick some cinnamon on yr favourite desserts u dont NEED TO but it adds that lil SOMETHING,,, that little KICK that just ties the flavour profile together and in this case ofgughugguhu it just GIVES SO MUCH. im making SNOW ANGELS in the WORDS on the PAGE.
“Mercury. If I could prove it to you, I would. But you have to—trust me. For just a while longer.”
“It’s getting harder,” he said. He didn’t sound like he was lying just to hurt her. That wasn’t spite. That was honest anger. And it made her feel like dirt.
im less picking these for specific instances of like, things i want to say, but more just because bits of this r rly just so /chef kiss. cinder has these.... endearingly (take that whichever way u like) human qualities in OG to rly make u realise she had ties to add to her #Doubt but the remaster is just AMPING it up and u FEEL IT and ive never been more SYMPATHETIC to a round-faced sinnamon bun of assholery and fire id DIE for cinder fall and this is a fact PUT IT ON MY GRAVESTONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Is there anything you need?” What was this? Cinder could barely focus on her words. It felt like... “Anything? At all?”
“We’re fine.”
“Mercury, wait please—” She was losing him. “I think—”
“Just hurry up.”
The line went dead.
Tumblr media
this place is not a place of honor.................. no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here........................ nothing valued is here................ IM DYING
Cinder began to type out her response, and that was when the nausea really kicked in.
[...]
She recognized this now.
Glynda.
stress stress stress stress STRESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
There shouldn’t be anybody. Cinder had done everything in her power to cut Glynda from people who would interfere. To isolate her. Make it easier to bring her to Atlas, to the frozen north, to her mother and the machine…
Cinder’s esophagus quivered; furiously, she shut her eyes and thought of nothing.
god cinder don’t remind me that you’re an asshole and dipshit and also a moron im trying to be NICE and CARE ABT YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP REMINDING ME YOU’RE A PIECE OF SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FOR FIVE MINUTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The front door clicked open.
Cinder couldn’t have said how much time had passed, only that it had passed slowly. What she did know was that it was Glynda returning, the sensation of boils bursting wafting off her soul. It crawled over Cinder’s flesh. She curled in on herself.
There were mites under every nailbed. Salt in her weeping mouth.
offal hunt’s brilliant use of this horror aspect is something i have tried previously to emulate and here’s a fact, take it from me: that shit is HARD. offal hunt consistently able to whack those real nasty, really Disgusting vibes on the head EVERY TIME is a work of art. i mean, kc and diesel do not fuck around, and therefore i am NOT surprised, but it’s only when u try this shit yourself that you realise: this is hard! this is difficult! it’s a huge testament to how GOOD this fic is in every way. also this whole fucking body horror aspect is something i didnt know this fic needed, but it did, and here we are.
Thickly: “Things were going okay. If you hadn’t gotten nasty, I might have smoothed things over. I could have fixed things with my son.”
with my son
with my son
with my son
Tumblr media
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I CANT TAKE IT EVERY TIME ITS TOO MUCH FOR TO BEAR I CANNOT HANDLE IT I CANNOT STAND IT ITS LIKE BEING SHOT JUST DIRECTLY IN MY DICK
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
im like sweating rn
Glynda said, “I’m scared.”
“Why?”
“I don’t want to tell you.”
I SAID IM SWEATING
Glynda asked, “Are you lying to me?”
And Cinder said, “What?”
“About me. About Witches. About Ozpin—” Cinder’s guts went sour. “—About anything. I need to know if I can trust you.”
I SAID I! AM! S W E A T I N G
“I know you’ve lied to people. Hurt people.”
Adrenaline and the image of her kids’ faces behind her eyes made a potent, sick cocktail. “—Not. Now.”
so lets like double back to when i said hey was this chapter written to target me specifically and as it turns out, yes. yes it was. yes it was and as MUCH AS I AM LIVING FOR THIS MOMENT THIS SWEET BUILDUP THE EXPLOSION AND THE CRATER IT ALL LEAVES BEHIND
I
AM
Tumblr media
so this next bit is like. i cant really quote one section but as i was saying in Vague DMs, this whole bit feels like wading through mud. usually if you say something consumes energy to Read it’s in a Bad Way when yr bored but this is more like. you Feel cinder all over everything feels so sluggish and it’s like dragging your own corpse around as you try and leave and you’re TIRED and your LEGS HURT and you’re kinda thinking god what if i just fell face down for just a moment of my LIFE.
The putrid weight of Glynda’s soul filled the room until there was no space left for her.
it’s like being trapped in a sauna, like getting stuck in a humid waiting room. where do you GO. what do you DO. god this whole section is fantastic and offal hunt NEVER fails to fucking nail the Vibes but reading it is HARD. i literally keep having to stop and breathe like ive been holding my breath. jesus h christ.
a small intermission for a mood:
“Get fucked.”
back to regularly scheduled hell
Out of the bedroom. Down the hall. The walls were sweating with heat. She tasted smoke.
i love that i just said how i feel like im trapped in a sauna and it turns out: thats because me and cinder both, baybee!!!! hahahaha help
Glynda’s soul chewed her to the marrow. “Move, Glynda.”
cinder being hunted at the start of this fic: teehee! im running away! now im gonna getcha! heehee! arent i clever :) cinder being hunted now: this uh. this blows, actually,
Cinder’s pulse roared in her ears. Her hands twitched. She smelled Ochre Brown’s round face melting off. His wide smile shattered with each of his teeth, going black and popping like corn.
this chapter is probably my favourite so far for this blending of so many elements. i cant even begin to like. THINK STRAIGHT about how all of this is tying together. the lore. the THEMATICS. like i said this character rly is just Rich with what og lacked and oh is it RICH. im gonna read this chapter in future and see so much that i know ive already missed. holy shit.
“Ms. Fall,” she said. “The White Fang requires your presence immediately.”
NOT NOW
Cinder stood there looking at it for a moment. Her thoughts were slow. Copper-tinged. Something small and indulgent whispered to her through the blood-fog.
It was obvious enough what would happen if she got into this car. The driver would take her to a secluded place, where she would be ambushed by a squadron of battle-hungry White Fang grunts.
They’d try to take her down. And she was a killer, wasn’t she? Ochre Brown wailed in her ears with every thump of her runaway heart. Her hands itched for action; her teeth, for blood.
She’d burn them black.
never mind! you are already dead,
She thought about Glynda. About her saying that if there was trouble with the Fang, she wanted to come. That she would fight for Cinder.
She thought of Glynda’s question: What aren’t you telling me about Ochre Brown?
Yeah, fuck that.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A CLIFFHANGER!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A MOMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!! MORE MOMENTOUSLY: WHAT A CHAPTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is EASILY my favourite chapter so far. EASILY. everything about this was peak offal. the relationships. the dynamics. the dialogue. the vibes. the Grossness. the fighting. the EVERYTHING. this is some other level and its BITCHIN. PEAK. that said im now very tired. im going to have a cup of tea and Consider Things for a few hours. brb.

Just a Visit
~with Aang and Jinora~
Aang
Korra had long since been granted access to the avatar state. she was studying the tactics of air bending. His gaze stayed upon her as he sat in front of her she had crossed over into the spirit world speaking to aang about some troubles she was having with air bending  he stood and smiled “air is not a easy element because like the rest it is not formed meaning simply this korra air is around you free you can guide it never control it you can push currents with your energy and then follow accordingly  many consider air to be the weaker of elements but is it truly? air is freedom peace and harmony for it holds no restrictions no boundaries so try this.” he smiled as he made a air ball and let it dissipate  “korra watch the currents of air to do this you must learn the basics so watch closely as i form the airball” he spoke before waving a hand over his head his other in front of him as air pulled and formed in front of him swirling and he then held it out with a smile. korras body still sat there as she spoke to him in spirit state. it was then a small girl ran past and he studied her loosing track of what he was saying watching the child. he gazed at the black hair placed neatly and her air bender robes traditional.
He could not help but smile as he then lost track the airball then ignored as it dispersed as his eyes followed her. he turned to face the direction before he hung his head feelings of pain crossed his features as a tug was felt at his head and he spoke in a low voice. “I didnt get to hold my grandchildren” he turned to face korra
He thought for a second his features lightening up and in a flash he had korra by her shoulders. “do you trust me korra” he asked earning a nod from korra who held a expression of silent thoughts of smacking him for startling her so. “if you allow me to surface in your body i can hold my grandchildren and hear their tales” he smiled excited “listen” he released her and cleared his trough and shook the wrinkles out of his robes “avatar roku showed me this when i was younger” he said being serious and gazing back to where she had ran “I wish to hold my grandchild I wish to hold my son for a second i wish to visit katara as she sleeps and run my finger along her jaw and tell her its ok ” he said fighting a tear that wished to fall “but only if you desire korra thought we are all connected it is your life and body” he hung his head as she placed a hand on his shoulder “avatar aang you can use me” he smiled as he   placed a closed fist into the palm of his hand and gave a light bow “thank you korra i shall never forget this” he spoke in a silent tone. she then pulled his essence back into there leaving the spirit world and it was then aang took over and stood there gazing upon his hand. “Thank you” he mumbled heading to go find the grandchildren and tenzin he would visit katara later so not to startle her.
Jinora
Jinora was perched about halfway up a tree, a book in hand when Ikki came racing past. Spirits would only know what had her sister running with such energy. Of course, Ikki always had energy, though perhaps she had made up some new game to entertain herself while Meelo slept and their mother was busy.
She shrugged, settling back into position against the tree trunk. She was quite happy with finding such a good reading spot. Easily reachable with bending, it gave her enough privacy and silence for her reading and personal thoughts, while at the same time leaving her visible enough for her mother to look out the window and see that she was fine.
Comfortable once again, Jinora shook thoughts of her family away before returning to her book. Her recent selections had been of her grandfather’s journals, which he had begun writing not long after the Hundred Year War had ended. His earliest ones all seemed to be of his past and the culture of the Air Nomads. Probably his efforts to capture the long forgotten culture so that the basis would be there for the new Air Nomads. For her and her siblings, she realized. Much of what she was reading sounded very interesting and somewhat familiar, as if she had been doing the same things. Which, technically, she supposed she had. Grandfather Aang had taught her father, and now he was teaching his children, and even the acolytes.
She smiled, looking at the book. She, her siblings, and her father were her grandfather’s legacy in a sense. Of course, Korra was his literal legacy, in regards to being the Avatar, but in a familial and cultural sense? The legacy belonged to her family. They were charged with bringing the Air Nomad culture back to the world, protecting it from all evils.
Looking up, glancing in the direction of Avatar Aang’s statue, she made a silent promise. She would do her best, earn her tattoos as soon as possible, to make her grandfather proud. Idly, she wished she could have met him, learned from him, but that was not a thought to ponder now. Not when she had so much more learning to do.
Aang
He was called twinkletoes by toph for a reason he would not be heard if he did not wish to. with a small blast of air he landed behind her and placed a arm around her and a hand over her mouth pulling her off the perch in the tree. He knew she would freak out so he quickly calmed her by turning her to face him and placing a finger to his lips “suuuush relax grandchild its me aang korra helped me to get here its a avatar thing. just trust me and calm down” he said with a smile to her tilting his head so proud to see her “I never got to hold any of you so i wanted to at least meet you and I want you to know I am so proud of you” he brushed her hair back with a caring smile to her.
Jinora
As soon as she had been released, Jinora distanced herself from the man. Settling in a defensive pose, she stared at him. He looked very similar to her dad, and hearing his words made her rethink. Could it really be her grandfather? She didn’t know much (at the moment) about the spiritual abilities of the Avatar, but a single past Avatar taking control of the current Avatar’s body was something she was sure didn’t happen often. Usually, it was all the past Avatars or just the current Avatar.
She relaxed, just barely, still staring. He wore air nomad clothes, and had his masters tattoo. Maybe it really was him. Still, she was too smart to trust complete strangers. “Can you prove that you are Avatar Aang?”
Aang
He simply laughed at how she held the airbending pose ready to attack him if he posed a threat. he shook his head reaching out to her gripping her left arm pulling her hand so it extended further “now you can get more air when you do need it quicker also it creates a availability for you to move from one stance to another should you have to react quickly as well” he added with a casual smile to her. he then studied her entire form impressed at her age she was doing amazingly well. His eyes softened to the book she was reading and he picked it up with a smile “hummmm they write interesting books about our travels and trials i wonder if they tell all of the truth in here” he asked outloud handing it to her not fazed by her in defense at all “No I can not prove I am avatar aang because I am Grandfather Aang” he smiled placing a hand on her shoulder knowing she would understand that even though he was the avatar he was and always would be a airbender first.
He then placed a finger to his chin and thought for a second before picking up a few pebble and in a instant he held out his hand using airbending to move them around in perfect form in the palm of his hand “is that good enough or do you wish to see something else” he asked before stopping and letting a all but one of the pebbles fall to the ground before he then wrote her name into it using earthbending to carve it in a few seconds and handing it to her sitting down in front of her “so tell me about yourself Jinora” he said still laid back about the entire situation.
Jinora
She stared at him for a moment longer before relaxing her pose. It certainly seemed as if he was who he said he was. That airbending pebble trick was a classic of his, something she had read in his own journals and been told by her own father. She accepted the pebble, staring at her name for a few seconds before slowing sitting down before him. Turning the pebble over in her hands, she thought of what to say.
“Well, I’m ten. I have a younger sister and two younger brothers. I live with them and my parents here on Air Temple Island. I have my own glider staff. and I love reading.” She looked at him, as if to make sure this was the kind of stuff he was asking. Granted, she could probably do better, but she thought she was doing just fine for meeting her dead grandfather for the first time.
Aang
he smiled to her as she spoke and even held a urge to pick her up but didnt really make too many moves “lets go to the fields so that i wont be seen so easily” he said with a smirk as he heard about her reading ”then tell me what you are reading” he said with a smile placing a hand on her back.
He laughed hearing about her glider “That is wonderful I am proud that you and your siblings are airbenders it gives hope to my well our people who were wiped out a long time ago” he said simply as he studied her clothing and it warmed her heart that his son had taken each lesson to heart. “how are you airbending lessons?” he asked casually wondering what she would tell him about them. His grey eyes studying her and the temple that was behind them.
Jinora
She paused for a second before nodding. “Okay. There’s a lot of area and trees behind the airball court we can go,” She said, just before mentally hitting herself in the head. Grandfather would know that, he BUILT the island; he doesn’t need her telling him where stuff is! Doing her best to recover from her brief moment of stupidity, she stood, scooping her book up and closing it before she began to walk towards the court. Her mother wouldn’t be too worried if she didn’t see Jinora. She was smart, and wouldn’t get lost.
“My book?” She flushed slightly at this. She internally debated lying, telling him it was some recent story that had been written, but she didn’t even try. He was her grandfather, and the Avatar, not really someone you should ever lie to. “It’s actually a copy of one of your journals. The one about the history of the Air Nomads, what you learned from your studies.” She refused to look at him, instead choosing to keep looking forward as they made their way to the airball court, giving herself a little mental pep talk. So what if she liked reading about history? It was interesting!
They were close to the court now, Jinora could just see it in the distance. Hearing that he was proud, and his questions on her lessons made her smile. Glad to know that her dad wasn’t letting his dad down. “I like my lessons. They’re interesting, and it’s fun learning new ways to apply my bending. It makes me feel alive, in a way. Ikki and Meelo like them a lot too. Well, when we’re actually learning or trying something. They don’t like meditation very much. Ikki hates being quite, and Meelo doesn’t like being still for so long. It makes him fall asleep. I like it though- gives me time to sort my thoughts and really think, you know?” She said, finally looking at him as they arrived at the courts. Behind the court ther was a bunch of trees, good cover for hide and seek, though part of it did lead to the edge of the island. Still, a great area to hide.
Aang
Aang listened to her and beamed with pride as he head her tell him of her lessons “meditating can be quite hard it came easy for me but for some who are as active as Ikki and Meelo it would be difficult I am sure.”My journals hummm, interesting, O suppose it is good you desire to study and learn it gives me hope for my people you have no idea how your words bring joy to me even after my demise” he said with a soft smile sitting down in the area she had led him to. “lets start with relaxing ourselves this was quite a stirring event my being here that is so if we relax ourselves we can calm our minds and open them to the things that have and are going to happen” he said softly feeling as if he was teaching his son all over again “you remind me of your father, he was very humbled to the lessons and teachings of a airbender as well”
Jinora
Her smile widened upon hearing how he was proud and happy he was with the lessons she and her siblings had with their father. She paused when he sat though. Did he intend to to meditate with her, to instruct her as he had with her father? Her chest swelled with emotions she couldn’t identify, but felt a bit like honor and privilege a bit. Avatar Aang, her grandfather, the last airbender until her father had been born, was silently offering to teach her. She would be mental to not accept.
Quickly, she sat before him, studying him for a moment. She smiled at the comment of her dad, feeling proud once more. Of all the people she knew, she admired her dad the most. To be told that she was similar to her dad by someone who knew him when he was her age, by his dad, her grandfather, was amazing. Her father didn’t talk much about his youth, and her mother was too young to know Tenzin when he was the age of any of his children, and she never saw her aunt, uncle, or GranGran enough to make a similar impression. Hearing it from Avatar Aang though (she mentally supposed she could call him Grandfather or grandpa now) was a huge compliment, one she’d hold in her heart forever.
She took a deep breath, closing her eyes before setting to the task of calming and opening her mind. she let herself listen, though, to the world and Aang. Quietly, never opening her eyes, she spoke. “You might be dead, but you’re not gone. Many of the acolytes, especially the older ones, remember you fondly and tell stories about you, spreading the wisdom and teachings you passed to them. They all loved you, and work hard to keep the culture alive and thriving.”

4 through 9!!!!
4. element associated with your kin/id?Light or fire? probably fire because fire is scary, destructive and will kill you but it can also be a gentle warmth and light to guide you. also it cooks you good food
5. who have you met from your canon?found here
6. things in every day life that remind you of your canon?found here
this turned out to be longer than i first thoguht... rest is under the cut
7. favourite scents from your canon?I love the smell of rain, the forest, many flowers, food, fire, fresh cloth.... sometimes i smell scents that remind me of people, or sometimes a persons scent calms me even when its the first time i smell them? like one of my irl friends has this scent that feels so disturbingly familiar that its painful because i just dont know where i smelled them before? its such a weird thing to say but???
8. what weather did your kin/id like the most?Any weather is fine by me. Having grown up in a space station there was not much to experience but steady temperature and regulated humidity. Earths air tasted weird at first but like? in a good way? its so fresh and has this plant kinda taste to it. at least when you are out in nature and not in the cities, they are absolutely horrible....Rain has this great smell that i learned is plants “bleeding” some kinda oil that signals they get H2O ? or somthing like that? its been ages since ive read that so i might remember wrongsnow tastes funny and i dont mind the cold at all, i prefer it over absolute heat.... I gotta say sunshine in a cloudless sky is the worst weather for me. im all black so the heat gets to me pretty quickly. too cold temperatures weaken me significantly too thoguh so... ARK kinda has me set on a range of temperatures I feel comfortable with, but weather whise i dont really care. its all beautiful and unique to this planet
9. what talents/ skills did you have as your kin/id?When you live forever you just kind of try anything out at least once. What interests me most is art, literature, music, cooking, plants and gardening, building, fighting, science and technology, hunting, driving and shooting. There’s far more to be entirely honest but those are the most prominent.
I’m pretty much expert in most of these, but I have troubles with music as im too harsh with instruments and/or too forgetful to memorize patterns and the likes. For example I’m a fairly okay drummer but I’m constantly worrying I’ll break it so I dont play right and that results in me not playing becasue I have to do things perfectly or not at all....
I enjoy driving a lot, i didnt even need to learn it really, it came naturally, but it reminds me of GUN missions so I don’t like doing it so often.
Same goes for shotting. I’m a good sharpshooter but it just reminds me too much of GUN and war. I will not hesitate to use a gun if necessary, but as long as i had my powers i was going to use them instead.
Not to be full of myself but I’m really smart and science and technology are amazing. I’ve never really learned super advanced programming, but im p good. I’m not very good at maths but that wont stop me from trying to udnerstand how i and the universe function.
i dont need to eat food, but damn it tastes good? same goes for sleep, i dont need it but it feels great. ive learned to cook in very different places from people of all cultures. its fun to travel the world.
i could ramble about the other things too but im already talking so much omg........

part II
FRIDAY
Friday we set out for a waterfall. Post the usual bus ride, The path was lined with people selling their wares, beers and tamales , and the line to the waterfall was slow and long. Easter is a big travel holiday for most in mexico, and also bathing in water is a easter tradition so we didnt have much time there because of the crowds. We came back up to the parking lot and was waiting for the bus to take us back when we woman came out of the bush and told everyone that there was a lesser travelled path, more rustic, to another waterfall nearby, and we could hike it for 5 pesos. We accepted.
When we started down the path, we all realized that most of us were not dressed for the part and also rustic was an understatement. I was in my element, though. For the first time since arriving here, I felt at home. The trees and the plants were different, but the forest is always a comfort to me.
It was probably one of the most fun hikes of my life. And at the bottom, we stripped and swam to meet this glorious waterfall. It was very cold, but worth the swim. It was invigorating and fun to move my body and feel the summer time.
We got dressed and started back toward the parking lot after a time. When we reached cell service, one of our companions realized that a coffee farm was walkable from where we stood and it would be much easier to try to walk than to find a ride. So for another hour we walked, up an very high mountain, until we finally reached the coffee farm. The plants were beautiful. And we made it just in time for a tour. Although it was all in spanish, I tried to pick out a word here or there. The coffee tasting was the best part. We were so very cold and wet by that point, it was sundown, and it was probably the best tasting coffee I had ever had. We ate dinner there, and they brought out some local malbec, and made me a special dish, and I felt so cozy and comforted. I slept really well that night.
SATURDAY
The next morning we set out early, to meet a guide who promised to bring us to see some natural formations and a cave. It was to be a four-five hour journey, tops. it turned into being one of the most challenging days of my life, and we didn't make it home until sundown. sheesh. I still cringe thinking about it.
Thanks, Full moon Blue moon.
We rode in the back of a pickup (all 9 of us) for about a half an hour until we reached a mountainous range where you could drive any further, and toothless leathery old men carried baskets down the road in bare feet.  We hiked down a narrow, stoney path for another half hour until we found a cabin the forest. Here we dropped our bags; we couldnt take anything with us, not even cell phones. We needed our hands free. Only our city shoes, clothes and wearing our bathing suits. Clearly, I didnt know what we were getting into because of the language barrier, but honestly I dont think anyone else knew either. This was going to be an intense and dangerous hike, and we were paying this man to put us through it. I was excited but also nervous. Ive never hiked with a guide before,
The first thing we traversed was a good few miles of wild before reaching natural formations in rock close to a waterfall where the pools of water resembled a dog’s paw print. You could dive into the water and find small holes in the rock, coming out into the other pools. Really cool. I am not a strong swimmer so I didn't do it, But others tried.
He took us up a small thorny path to the entrance of a cave. Ive never been to a cave before. I was picturing in my head that it would be a huge cavernous opening where we would walk in for a while and admire the landscape, and then walk out. But no. We slipped into this cave single file and dropped into neck deep black water with an inch of headspace, and were instructed to walk. Everyone did no gleefully, and full of adventure. I wish i could say the same. But i’m actually REALLY CLAUSTROPHOBIC and almost immediately wanted to vomit, pass out and piss myself at the same time. Because of the language barrier, or maybe because of the lack of telling, I am really not sure, but I honestly didn't know what we were doing, otherwise I wouldn't have gone. But with more than 8 people behind me and none of them knowing me or my language, I had to push through. Tears and all. I surprised myself that with the hyperventilating and the vertigo, i didn't pass out and die in the dark enclosed waters. I dont even like reliving it right now, so I will leave it at that. Just know that i survived probably the scariest and most challenging experience of my life. I really have no desire to go anywhere near a cave again.
We hiked further up a mountain, where we were told we were to repel down a cliff face and into deep water- after the first girl went and said it was far too difficult for beginners, I declined and hiked down instead and swam to met everyone. At this point I am feeling like a huge coward. First the freak out in the cave, now I am chickening out of a climb, in front of all these people who dont know me, my history, my struggles with anxiety. It’s beginning to get hard to enjoy myself, with all my fears out here in the open like that.
After the climbing, we hiked for a few miles until reaching a waterfall where the instructor actually told us to JUMP (i didn't, i hiked around) and a few members of our group did. At this point I really didn't know if these two kids had any protocols for accidents or safety, and I was feeling extremely ashamed of my american-ness and fear. I finished out my day like that- hiking in an exhausted daze, feeling real shitty about myself. We hiked a few more miles, ended at a smaller waterfall, and finally hiked back to the bus. Hungry, exhausted, and 9 hours later. No meals, no water, and no sense of pride.
This was one of the hardest days Ive ever had, and the most shameful, and I think I am going to be unpacking my fears and cowardice for a long time.

6 Ways To Make Sure Your First Festival Is The Greatest Experience Of Your Life
Although Ive always been an avid concert-goer, last summer was my full-on, camping-for-five-days music festival experience.
It was incredible: non-stop good music, friendly vibes, camping and the summer sun.
Needless to say, Ive already bought tickets to another festival this summer, and I am anxiously counting down the days.
REUTERS
Like I said, Id been to many a concert before last year, but music festivals are a whole different creature.
Fortunately, I went with an experienced group of festival-goers who saved me from some rookie mistakes. But even so, I learned a few things the hard way.
For those of you attending your first festival this year, let me save you some of my mistakes, sunburns, blister and hangovers.
Here are the biggest lessons I learned last year on how to nail the festival experience:
1. Choose your clothing wisely.
Alexander Grabchilev
I cannot emphasize this point enough.
I beg you, put down your credit card and step away from the must-have festival gear section of whatever clothing company is currently spamming your inbox.
I get that everyone wants to look cute in all of their Instagram posts, Snapchats ad whatever, but consider what youll actually be doing.
You will be outside in the sun, jumping up and down, walking and standing for many hours.
Really, packing for a festival should resemble packing for a hiking trip more than a beach vacation: good shoes, comfortable clothing, hats and so on.
Accept that your hair and makeup, no matter how much effort you put into them, will look like a mess by the end of the day. (You magical creatures who have managed to subvert this, show me your ways.)
It may not sound sexy, but you will thank me for this advice on day two when you can still walk.
Dress for comfort and function.
Pro tips:
1. Wear good shoes.
Avoid those gladiator sandals. Whoever decided these were perfect shoes for the occasion is full of garbage.
You will be walking, standing and jumping around in a crowd for the majority of your day, and lets remember that festival grounds are dirt, grass and mud.
Youll definitely get blisters (and stupid tan lines), and your toes will be stomped to bits in the crowd.
Trust me, I wore sandals for approximately six hours my first day last year, and the combination of sweat, walking and mud gave me blisters that required me to wrap both feet in bandages to be able to walk the rest of the weekend.
I switched to athletic sneakers shortly after.
They looked ugly with my clothing (turns out bright blue Asics dont really go with much), but my feet felt MUCH better than they would have in other shoes, and my toes were mostly protected.
Your feet will hurt more after each day of this festival than they ever have in your entire life, so take care of them.
2. Avoid white clothing.
I left my campsite on day two wearing a cute crop top and high-waisted white shorts.
They lasted for ONE SET before turning brown from all the dust kicked up by the crowd.
I had to rush back and change before the next show, and the dirt never came out. After several washes, those shorts went in the trash.
Remember, you will be dirty and sweaty. Dress accordingly.
3. Your hair and makeup will be a mess by the end of the day.
Sweat plus sunscreen, plus dancing, plus humidity, plus desperately trying to cool off by getting wet makes this hard to avoid.
Embrace it.
4. Dress for comfort.
As Ive said, you will be dancing, running, standing and sweating a ton.
Whatever you put on your body, make sure it will still be comfortable once all of these forces are applied.
Chafing and blisters make your life harder for the rest of the weekend.
2. Stay (as) healthy (as possible).
REUTERS
I know, this can be a tough one.
Music festivals are a beautiful combination of things that are bad for your body: loud noises, extended sun exposure, heat, terrible (delicious) food, drinking (and possibly other substances) and no sleep.
By all means, do whatever will make your festival experience the best possible time.
However, if you can sneak in some healthy habits around the fun, your body will thank you, especially when its 5 pm on the fourth day and youre starting to wonder what possessed you to actually pay money to live outside and be tired for four days straight.
Pro tips:
1. Get as much sleep as humanly possible.
I know Im a cranky bitch when I havent slept enough, but I wanted to stay up as late as possible to experience all the fun.
My compromise with myself? I stayed at the shows until I was ready to pass out.
Then, I dragged myself back to my tent, drank some water, put in earplugs, slipped on a face mask and passed out.
The mask and earplugs (and probably exhaustion, but whatever) worked wonders. I actually slept like a baby and woke up feeling relatively refreshed.
Do whatever you need to do to get as much sleep as you can around your schedule of fun. This is clutch.
2. Hydrate.
This is super important.
Heat and sun plus dancing and alcohol is a recipe for dehydration, and you dont want to be that guy who faints in the middle of Blink-182s set because you didnt drink enough water.
Start hydrating before you leave home, and keep drinking water, Gatorade, Pedialyte or whatever does it for you when you have a nasty hangover.
I drank a Gatorade before I went to sleep every night, and my mornings were far less of a struggle as a result.
3. Wear sunscreen.
Not to sound like your mom, but your life will be much easier if you can avoid getting sunburned during your festival weekend.
Trust me, it doesnt get EASIER to spend your entire day out in the sun when youre already as red as a lobster.
4. Eat a vegetable.
It can be tempting to grab your 14th slice of pizza and call it dinner after a day of partying when you only have 10 minutes until your next show.
However, I promise you, your body will start to rebel before the festival ends if you only feed it Red Bull, vodka and Doritos.
Bring as much food as you can (this also saves money), and try to pack some moderately healthy things along with the junk food and cheeseburgers.
Granola bars, fruit and nuts make an easy breakfast or a quick mid-day snack that your body wont hate you for.
Some food vendors actually offer vegetables and healthier options for sale inside the festival grounds.
I know theres no way a salad beats a grilled cheese, but your body can only take so many meals that your 5-year-old self would have chosen before it feels like garbage, especially when you throw in the other stressors of sun and heat and alcohol and lack of sleep.
Eat, like, one apple and some carrots. Trust me on this.
3. Prepare for the elements.
REUTERS
This is another area where pack for camping is useful advice.
Remember youll basically be living outside for several days, and so you will be at the mercy of the weather.
Check the forecast before you pack, but be prepared for conditions that change quickly.
It will be hot, and you will be outside in the sun, so dress and act accordingly.
If youre camping, create some shade by putting up a canopy and hanging curtains or tapestries from the sides.
It might rain, so consider clothes and shoes that wont feel awful when wet, as well as a poncho.
Rain equals mud, so pack shoes that can hold up and wont get sucked into the ground like quicksand.
It cools off at night, so bring layers.
This one is a little weird, but prepare for dust! When the wind kicks up, it can create a small dust tornado on festival grounds, so be ready.
Have a bandanna you can cover your face with and sunglasses to protect your eyes, and wear clothes that wont be harmed by a little (or a lot) of dirt.
The point i, before you put something in your suitcase, ask yourself, Can this hold up in every weather condition?
If the answer is no, leave it home.
4. Have a plan for what you want to do, but be open to new experiences.
REUTERS
Festivals can be overwhelming.
Theres always something to do, like socializing in your campsite, playing pick-up volleyball, trying new foods, having drinks at a festival bar and seeing the nonstop music playing on multiple stages at all times.
Go in with some sort of plan, even if its very loose.
You and your group should choose the bands you dont want to miss.
Then, schedule your days accordingly, and figure out how to navigate any schedule conflicts.
Fill in the remaining time with other activities.
However, the fact that you have a plan doesnt mean that you shouldnt be open to spontaneity and new experiences!
Stop by a random stage and see a band youve never heard before. Ask your camping neighbors if they want to play flip cup or throw around a frisbee.
Go to the Silent Disco, even if you dont know exactly what that is. See what you want to see, but be open to new experiences, too.
You wont regret it.
As an aside, try not to get so drunk that you cant make it out of your campsite. You miss both plans and new experiences when you pass out before the first show starts.
5. Make friends (also, dont lose your friends).
REUTERS
The advice surrounding friends is two-fold.
First, be open to making new friends! The vibe at festivals is amazing.
Everyone is happy and excited to be there, and everyone wants to meet everyone else.
If youre camping, befriend your neighbors. Talk to people while you wait in line for beer.
High-five strangers. Bond over your mutual love for The 1975 with the others around you in the crowd.
The friendly vibes are one of the things that makes the festival experience so special, so take advantage.
Also important: When hanging out with friends, new or old, try not to lose them.
Cell service in campsites and festival grounds is garbage, and unless you come prepared with a charging solution, your phone will probably die at least once.
Anytime you split up from friends, have a designated meeting place and time where youll find each other. Even if youre just getting in different food lines, choose a place you will meet up when finished.
This sounds like a bit much, but I promise it will help you.
When you say, Meh, well just *find* each other after this bathroom break, and you emerge to a crowd of 800 people also waiting for bathrooms, trying to find friends or standing around, just finding each other becomes somewhat harder.
Be specific: I will meet you next to this garbage can after you get your pizza and I get my salad (because I read this article and am eating a vegetable).
6. Have fun.
REUTERS
Festivals are an amazing weekend of great music, friends, camping, new experiences and fun.
Think about what will make this weekend the most fun for you, and then do it.
Dont worry if your outfit is less Kylie at Coachella and more James Franco in 127 Hours. (You probably wont have enough service to post that Insta anyway.)
The point isnt to look pretty or to check certain boxes that you should be doing. These weekends are packed to the brim with fun experiences waiting to be had, and youre right there in the middle of it all.
Take advantage, take lots of pictures and have one of the most memorable weekends of your life.
