*waves hello* I've been hoarding your autistic dave headcanon post for ages because I really really like it anyway do you have any particular favorite autistic headcanons? or hope against hope canonically autistic characters? (I know there are some but they're usually uh. not great? from my understanding?) (any format/media)

Ahhhh thank you! Yeah its. Really hard to find canon autistics. Off the top of my head the only ones i can really think of are Symetra, Rick (which yknow alot of people are not gonna be comfortable relating to) minor npcs in Mass Effect amd Dragon Age (who i like but both play into the savant sterotype, and the guy in ME is pretty horrifically abused)...Fuck. I know there are others but im drawing a blank right now. OH there's a show called The Good Doctor starring an autistic surgeon? But i havent been able to see it yet so i cant say how good a portrayal it is.

As for headcanons though!! That i can do! So aside from the entire cast of Homestuck (obviously) theres;- Commander Shepard and Liara T'soni from Mass Effect! The nature of game dialogue makes Shepard's speech somewhat stilted and heavily reliant on scripts, and depending how you play they can have difficulty understanding/expressing emotions and/or have an extremely rigid sense of justice. Liara is very shy and socially awkward in the first game and has a few idle animation hand stims!- Aerun Sun from Farscape - She has a very rigid worldview that takes time to develop once she is presented with new information, she is very direct in communicating with others and is very frustrated by small talk. She also? Was able to take over Pilot's duties to control the ship more than once which requires a HUGE amount of multitasking and information processing. Phillip J. Fry from Futurama - he actually says in canon that he has adhd! But he also has a bunch of autistic traits like stimming and poor executive function. While he's not as intelligent as most other characters (and is the butt of alot of "stupid" jokes) i find ot really easy to read him as an autisic person who just. Sees things too differently to be considered conventionally smart. Also he's clearly deeply creative and imaginative, he just lacks the ability to express his thoughts. And yeah i relate to him a lot Samantha Carter from Stargate -aka kid Jen's first crush. Highly intelligent scientist who always seems a little bit awkward and overly formal when talking to people Peridot from Steven Universe -I mean. Come ON. she just IS. Alphys from Undertale -another character i relate to WAY too heavily. Socially awkward science geek with a very obvious special interest in anime she desperately wants to share with her friends?? HECK yeah Mitzi Hunt from The Cat Lady -k so. Lesser known game here dont go looking it up if you're easily disturbed, its a really gorey horror game with a focus on suicide amd depression. Fantastic game imo but obviously not for everyone. Mitzi is one of the main characters amd she always read as autistic to me, she's very forward and doesnt seem to grasp embarassment or social rules, she also has a pretty strong sense of right and wrong Max Caufield from Life Is Strange -socially awkward, anxious, stims!! Special interest in photography! I love her
