I wanna talk about Natsuo Todoroki for a second here.
tw// mentions of abuse, self harm, and suicide
Natsuo visibly has the most emotional trauma out of anyone else in his family (Touya not included), and I really wanna talk about why that is.
For starters, we haven't seen him really smile since he was introduced in chapter 187. He's introduced as having a friendly, easygoing persona and it's easy to imagine this is how most people outside of his family know him. However, every time we see him appear since then, another layer of his trauma is revealed and expanded upon, and it cuts DEEP.
Tumblr media
I think the main reason that Natsuo still seems so vulnerable compared to the rest of his family is different than what you'd assume. Fuyumi and Shouto both spend a lot of time around Endeavor, and have been in close proximity to his (relatively recent) decision to atone. They have seen his growth firsthand and come to terms with it. Rei has obviously taken a very different path to healing- not entirely voluntarily- but she has been working with doctors and therapists for years to change and recover and reconnect with herself and her children. Natsuo is off at college, and takes every opportunity he can to avoid Endeavor. He (understandably) wants nothing to do with him, and shows stagnant resistance to his attempts to atone.
The reason why Natsuo can't move on from the past is because his trauma didn't come from Endeavor. It came from Touya.
Now initially we were led to believe that it was simply Touya's untimely death that still bothers Natsuo, and it makes sense seeing how Endeavor drove him to the edge. Losing his best friend and brother as a young kid without parents to support him or any therapist to speak of can absolutely been the source of persistent emotional damage, but the more and more we learn about Touya's situation, the more evident it becomes that Natsuo's trauma is much much deeper than even grief.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Touya, as we know, was driven by an ambition instilled in him by his father and experienced extreme rejection sensitivity when those ambitions were no longer realistic. Touya's relationship with his parents could be described as insecure attachment, a psychological term primarily regarding how kids react and respond to their parents and other close relationships. As he was raised, Touya learned to equate his potential to be a hero with his personal worth and similarly confounded attention with love. The difference being, of course, that love is unconditional, but even attention was being continually directed away from him as a punishment for continuing to train and burn himself so he could once again become worthy in his fathers' eyes.
This is where Natsuo comes in. At first it was assumed that all of the Todoroki children were born out of Endeavor's strong-willed desire to have a child that could surpass All Might, but we learned that this isn't exactly the case. I'd argue that it was narratively poetic on Horikoshi's part once this was expanded upon. Fuyumi was born to support and encourage her brother, and that is the exact role she plays 23 years later, keeping her family together.
Natsuo's case is even more intersting.
It was bad enough if Natsuo was only born for the potential of his quirk, but it's even more sinister that the sole intent behind his birth was to discourage Touya from his ambitions. I'd say it was to replace him, but it was more to promote the idea that Touya was expendable than to raise aonther kid with the same ideals but the potential to actually achieve it, although that was definitely a secondary motivation.
The parallelism in this is how much Natsuo's life revolves around Touya. He was born because of Touya, he looked up to and took care of Touya as a kid, and the absence of Touya in the present continues to drive him and his decisions in life (but more on that later).
I continue to pray that we will eventually get more solid backstory on Natsuo and Touya's relationship as kids and where it cut off, wether on a bad note or not, but there are a few things we know for certain. One, Touya was mentally ill. Yes, he was rejected by his parents but he seems to have been particularly vulnerable to this compared to any of his siblings since he was the first of them and thus relied only on his parents for validation in his early years. He shows early signs of a variety of different mental disorders, particularly BPD, which I have previously written a whole analysis for on its own. Touya is shown self-harming both by the very nature of his quirk and even by very directly ripping his hair out. He was incredibly self-destructive.
Tumblr media
This is why it is so much more concerning to me that Natsuo, who was AT LEAST four years younger than him, was his primary source of comfort. Natsuo was too young to have known anything more than 'my big brother is sad that daddy won't train him anymore' and he obviously wasn't equipped in any way to handle Touya's severe mental illness. Touya most definitely needed professional treaatment as his forms of coping were abnormal even for the neglect and rejection that he experienced. Natsuo comforted Touya through breakdown after breakdown, and more than that Touya relied on him and came to him voluntarily for support. Natsuo was the best option he had, and he took full advantage of that. The main source of Natsuo's trauma was Touya's reliance on him.
Not to say at all that this was in any way Touya's fault- he was mentally ill and desperately in need of some form of comfort to keep him sane; it was almost a survival method at this point since neither of his parents really acknowleged him at all anymore. Touya's instability hurt Natsuo more than parental neglect ever did, but it was the neglect that enabled it and striped Touya of the supportive atmosphere he would have needed at this point not only to prevent but to heal from the mental damage he had already suffered.
Natsuo dealt with this for years and you can see how much it hurt him to see Touya in so much pain, not only from Endeavor's rejection but from his own self harm as well. For Natuso to know that his brotherly love would never be the same as having loving parents; would neve be enough- but at least it was something so he continued to love and care about his brother for little in return- is indicative of the kind of character he is.
(Edit: After the events of chapter 302 we know that Natsuo's relationship with Touya wasn't perfect. I will elaborate more on this in a different post, but I just wanted to clarify that although we were shown a very high-tension scene between them, it is implied that this was a regular occurrence that Natsuo was usually more receptive too but tired out of, in addition to Touya's spiraling mental health. It fit with the natrative to show the tension Touya was feeling with his family from all directions, but Natsu and Touya clearly had a stronger relationship up to and before this point, evidenced by their sharing a room and playing together regularly.)
He is incredibly selfless, and it's interesting to note how many of his positive qualities as an adult stem from negative experiences as a kid. He never really felt love from his parents, so he relied on Touya (and likely also Fuyumi) for that as well. If he grew up learning he had to give love in order to recieve it back, it absolutely influenced who he became in the future, a solid example of this being the responsibility he feels to reach out and have a relationship with Shouto and further regrets that he wasn't able to help his abuse in the past either. Another aspect of his character that intruigues me is how gentle he is. Personality-wise he seems about as opposite as he could be from the awkward, stoic, emotionally-stunted person that is Endeavor.
There are a couple of reasons for this, beyond what I've already discussed.
One, he had little to no contact with elements of toxic masculinity growing up, especially not from Endeavor.
Two, most of the influence he did have growing up was from Fuyumi, who is established to have endlessly cared for him since he was a literal baby.
Three, he grew up in a household where almost everyone around him was in much more literal, immediate pain than he was so he developed a very strong sense of empathy that might also have been tied to early survivor's guilt.
Now I have one important distinction to make, and that's the temptation to label him as a 'softboy' or something of the like after seeing him caring for his family and more pointedly, watching him break down in tears during chapter 252. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with men being soft or vulnerable (on the contrary it's actually so so important and relevant that Hori is writing characters like this in a mainstream shounen manga but that's an essay for another time), it is unfair to label him as such based on a moment when his trauma is being exposed.
Because his truama stems from such a young age, there is a blurry line between just being born with more emotional intelligence and the situation he was in fostering those traits. You know, the classic nature/nurture thing. My point being, it's important to tread carefully when discussing the nature of his personality to avoid invalidating his trauma; I have no doubt that he is very strong for having survived these things, and the moments we see of him onscreen are definitely among his most vulnerable.
Another thing that people less familiar with Natsuo's character might assume is that he is hot-headed and argumentative. I thought that at first too- after all, he doesn't seem to shy away from yelling at Endeavor when given the opportunity. However, this doesn't seem to be the case at all.
Tumblr media
The first real scene we see him in with Endeavor, the man walks into the room and Natsuo decides he can't handle it and goes to leave. However, Endeavor happens to be blocking the doorway. Endeavor physically stops him and provokes him to his face, asking him to say whatever is on him mind. While Natsuo is notably not confrontational, Endeavor is. I think it's fair to say that he felt at least uneasy at this gesture. Natsuo is very honest with his feelings, and it's obvious that he's pissed at the audacity of Endeavor to be so oblivious to his own son. This is presumably one of the first real interactions they've ever really had, and at this point Natsuo has been dealing with trauma (caused by Endeavor!) on his own for years, and Endeavor seems completely oblivious to his pain and dismmisive to the rest of the family's as well.
Again during the internship arc Natsuo tries to get along with Endeavor and this time he actually gives it a fleeting chance. Tensions are high, however, and the conversation very quickly becomes uncomfortable, at which point he leaves. It is continually implied that Natsuo is uncomfortable being around Endeavor because his very presence brings up painful thoughts and memories of a time when sharing the same space as him was a warning to run and hide. This is later directly confirmed by Natsuo as he says that every time he looks at Endeavor's face he remembers Touya and the pain he was in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like an important side note is that we have never seen Natsuo outside the context of his family, which is understandable, as the role he plays in the story directly relates to them. However, if you take a look at Shouto, even though his experiences have shaped him to become who he is, he definitely acts differently when Endeavor's not in the vicinity.
Back to Touya's death, it would be very rare that someone would mourn a death for an entire decade without finding closure unless there are other factors preventing it, and uncomfortably this seems to be the same thing for both Natsuo and Endeavor: guilt.
This is getting incredibly long already, but it's important to note that Natsuo probably felt an incredible responsibility to take care of Touya and protect him because of his empathetic nature. His love was never going to be the same as having loving parents. His encouragement was never going to be the same as having support from Endeavor. Even further than then neglect and abandonement, it was not being able to save Touya that really made Natsuo feel worthless.
He seems to try and remedy this inability to save Touya and diminish his guilt by doing everything he can to be better. He reaches out to Shouto to be a better brother, he consistently pushes his limits to entertain Fuyumi's notion of a happy family, and he's working hard towards a degree rhat will allow him to help people like Touya (and Rei) because he failed to do so in the past.
Tumblr media
His bio mildly implies that he didn't have much of a direction he was heading in after high school, but Fuyumi's encouragement led him to seek out his current college career. This goes back to Natsuo's 'purpose' in a sense revolving arount Touya, from his birth to his relationship with him to his death, after which he lost his direction. They were always rather inseperable, so naturally their seperation hit Natsuo hard. He lost his direction in life so when Fuyumi encouraged him to rediscover it, he thought of helping people, because that's ultimately what he was born to do.
Thank you so, so much for reading this if you made it to the end! I clearly have a lot of thoughts on this. Let me know what you think about it as well, and hopefully we'll get more info on this soon in the manga :)

a/n: God this photo fucked me up good when I first saw it.
I saw this picture on my search for images for my last Todo post aaaaand yeah, pretty self explanatory. I got to thinking, what if this poor baby finally snapped one day and was like "FUCK ENDEAVOR AND HIS ENTIRE PROGRAM, IM NOBODY'S MASTERPIECE" and he went the complete opposite direction. So enjoy a little bit of OOC Todoroki and a bit of a longer post than my usual stuff!
I’m really really sorry about not updating in the past few days.  I was really swamped by college work and studying, and I was mentally exhausted and physically tired every day.  Today wasn’t my day and I almost had a breakdown because a lot of things piled up in me, but I had to pull myself together somehow.  Hopefully, after this week, I’ll go back to a somewhat regular posting schedule.  Thanks for being patient with me guys, I really appreciate it :)
When my mom told me Shouto will be going to the same high school as me, I was expecting the same buttoned-up, shy, good boy from elementary school.  Oh boy, was I wrong.
The boy I bump into in the hallway definitely looks like Shouto, but the only thing that's the same is his mismatched hair and eyes.  Everything else about him was much different.  His entire energy was different, even from the fraction of a second I focused on his face.
"Shouto?" I call when he's about to brush past me.
I don't think he's expecting someone to know him on the first day, pausing and looking down curiously.
The most shocking feature of all is the scar on his left side, a red blotch that covers the left side of his face, starkly contrasting his brilliant turquoise eye; a single ray of light in a scarlet sky.
As I'm gaping at the puckered skin, his eyebrows furrowing at my face as recognition slowly dawns on him.  "(Y/n)?"
I'm relieved that he at least remembers me.  "Yeah, hey."  I don't really know what to do now.  My first instinct is to hug him, but something tells me he isn't a fan of that sort of thing anymore.  There's a coldness between us that's thick as a knife.  "How have you been?"
"Fine," he answers curtly.  His hands are stuffed into his pockets, leaning back in a way that seems uncharacteristic of him and more like a ruffian.
Does his not want to talk to me?  I don't blame him, I haven't been in his life for a good eight years.  "How are your parents?"
His jaw clenches.  "Fine."
Oh.  I struck a nerve.  "Do you wanna catch up at lunch?  What class are you in?"
"1-A."  Overjoyed that we share the same class, I'm about to open my mouth, but he interjects, "But I don't think we should talk."  That was the last thing he said before he strolls past me.
I'm stunned, following his receding back through the sea of students.  I guess I shouldn't have brought up his parents when I know it's a sensitive topic, but I didn't know what else to say.  And it's probably awkward to see someone you used to be close to talk to you again, but the least he could've been is polite.  That's saying something, because Shouto was always the polite child.
Something is terribly wrong here.
Shouto has definitely changed since we were younger.  He's become a delinquent.
He never even shows up to class.  After our little encounter, he was slumped in his seat until the teacher finished role call, then he just got up and walked out in the middle of class and never came back.  In all the days after that, his seat remained empty even at the beginning of the day.
At first, I gave him the benefit of the doubt.  What if he happened to get sick and had to stay home?  Then I saw his signature mismatched tuft of hair walking back home in the school yard, and I knew he was skipping.
After a whole two weeks passed of him skipping, I had enough.  The Shouto I know would never cut class even if his life depended on it.  During lunch, I went looking for him in the group of other delinquent kids in the back of the school.
"Todoroki?" the ash-blond ringleader ruffles his hair and scoffs, "Idiot must be off somewhere by himself like the damn loner he is.  He picked a fight with me and I almost beat his ass into oblivion!"
I ball my fists up, more angry at Shouto than the group of boys eyeing me like a pack of wolves.  "You guys are useless," I mumble, about to turn away from them.
"Aww, is he your boyfriend, sweetie?" the honey blond with a black streak in his hair smoothly wraps an arm around me.  "He probably doesn't care about you, you deserve someone else who'll give you his time."
"Fuck off, who said you can touch me?"  I shove his arm away and step back.
"Calm down there," the red head with sharp teeth taunts with a smirk, "You're getting a bit defensive.  You sure you don't need help looking for your little prince?"
"I'm fine on my own, thanks," I huff, turning around to go look for Shouto elsewhere.
"Maybe I'll come with you," the overly-friendly boy blocks my way again.  "If he's not your boyfriend, maybe we can get together sometime?"
"Not interested.  Out of my way, Pikachu reject."  I try to side-step him, but the leader grabs the back of my collar and whips me around so I'm face to face with his bared teeth.
"You're a bit rude, aren't you?  Should I pull your head out your ass for you?"  His crimson eyes glare his murderous intent into me.
I hold my ground, the anger against my irresponsible friend more powerful than any fear of this hothead possibly hurting me.  "Don't act so tough if your talk is cheap."
He cracks his knuckles without breaking eye contact with me.  "I'll show you cheap talk.  Try waking up next week after I'm done with you!" he snarls.
I mirror his expression.  I don't mind throwing hands at this guy if I have to, blood rushing through me to prepare for the fist fight.  "I dare you-!"
"Enough, (Y/n)."
I can feel his presence right behind me even though he doesn't physically touch me.
Scarlet eyes shift behind me.  "Took you long enough, hot shot.  Your friend has just as much spunk as you, I'll kick both your asses!"
"I'd like to see you try, Bakugou," Shouto responds coldly.  "We both know who'd win."  Keeping his gaze locked on the aggressive male, he harshly grabs my arm and hauls me away.  "Let's go."
I'm fuming with anger when we're back inside the building.  I turn on him when he finally releases me, but he's already starting down the hall.  "Don't walk away from me!  We need to talk!"  I stomp over, following him to an abandoned classroom.  "What the hell is wrong with you?!  First of all, you were a real ass when I talked to you last week.  Second of all, you're not even coming to class like you should.  And now you're already picking fights with that idiot out there?  What's gotten into you Shouto?!"
"You were about to get into a fight as well.  You should thank me," he comments coldly, slipping into a desk with books open on top.
"I could've handled it just fine without you!  The only reason I was even there talking to them was because I was looking for you!"  I hover over him, glaring down so he can tell how angry I am.  "You'e skipped class all week, this isn't like you at all!  How are you supposed to catch-?"
One glance down the the open books shows all the material we've been going over in class.  He's already caught up to today's lesson, writing notes in his book and ignoring my presence.  The entire setup makes me angrier.  "I don't understand you, Shouto.  What kind of act are you trying to pull?  You're not a delinquent, why are you trying to act like one for everyone else?   Or is this all because you're just trying to ignore me?"
His pencil stops moving and it slams down onto the desk.  "A lot happened since you left, (Y/n)," the boy responds.  His quivering voice indicates restriction of intense emotion.
The hurt is apparent across his entire face, calming me down.  My gaze lingers on the left side of his features, over the eye that somehow looks perpetually sad.  "How did you get that scar, Shouto?"
The boy's eyebrows furrow.  "My father never let up on me after you left, and he got worse.  My mother couldn't handle fighting him on her own anymore.  One day, she snapped, told me how unsightly my left side was, and pouring boiling water over my face."  His large hand gingerly covers his reddened skin.  "And my bastard father put her in a mental institution after that.  He did this."
My heart aches for my childhood friend, the boy I took care of and listened to all his problems.  I can't imagine how much pain Rei was going through.  For her to have lost it, she must've held such a heavy burden.  When I had to move away, I felt so guilty about leaving him with all his troubles.  He had no one else to reach out to and it was snatched from him.  There wasn't a day I stopped thinking and worrying over him.  I reach to take his hand and offer comfort.  "Shou-"
Shouto bolts up from his seat, his taller figure hunching over mine, features screwed up in distaste.  "You weren't there when I needed you most."
I'm taken back, hurt more than anything.  "It's not my fault, we were so much younger, I didn't have a choice but to go with my parents."
A dark chuckle erupts from his lips, dismissing my excuses.  "It's fine.  It happened, I've learned to deal with it."
I'm about to blow my top with this kid.  "Yeah, you've dealt really well, haven't you?" I roll my eyes.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
My mouth gapes, letting out a sputtered scoff.  "You're kidding.  Just look at you!  You're pretending to be someone you're not!  You and I both know you were never the bad boy type when we were kids.  You're the slightly awkward, naturally smart, driven, hardworking-"
"I was only those things because my father forced them on me," he passes by me, crossing his arms.  "I don't want to be anything that bastard wants anymore.  And if you can't see that, then we were never friends in the first place."
That's a stab in the chest.  How can he say that we were never friends when we used to do everything together?  A surge of fury rushing through me, I grab his arm to keep him from moving any farther.  "You love watching superhero cartoons, your favorite was All Might.  Sometimes, you're so damn lazy that instead of doing homework when you came home, you would sneak in a nap before your dad came home to see you slacking off.  Your favorite food in the entire world is cold soba.  You don't like extremely sweet desserts.  You've always been insecure about how strange your mismatched hair and eyes look, but I always had to assure you that you're still the most handsome guy in our class."
Shouto halfway turns around to look at me.
"If we weren't friends, why do I know so much about you?"  I take another bold step towards him, softening at the underlying pain etched into his features.  "I know you always hated the way your dad expects so much from you.  The only thing you ever wanted in your childhood was to be normal.  The pressure finally crumbled down on you and your mom, and I'm sorry I wasn't there to help you through it.  But you shouldn't abandon everything that you are.  You took after your mom more than your dad; you're sometimes a sassy son of a bitch, but you're kind and have a deep respect for people you admire.  You have a natural sense of humor that you don't even know you have.  You care about the people you're close to, you only struggle with communicating how you feel sometimes."
His lips part slightly, processing everything I just showered onto him.  Guilt eventually creeps up on him, choosing to rub the back of his neck.  "You...always did know just what to say."
I smirk and engulf him into my long-awaited hug.  "Who else would put you back in your place?"
His arms hesitantly wrap around my body, the act of sharing body warmth strange yet familiar to him.  It's a small victory, but I'm relieved that we're back on speaking terms.  I'm ready to resume protecting him as I should.
Shouto shifts in our embrace.  "You said...I struggle with telling people how I feel...?" he mumbles sheepishly near my ear.
My boy perks with confusion.  "Yeah, even when we first-"
"Would it suffice if..."
Before I can turn to search his face for what he could be implying, his grip around me loosens as he pulls back to look at me, one of his warm hands resting against my cheek.  His face looms right in front of me, my breath catching in surprise, before he presses his lips to mine softly.  The weightlessness in my stomach is unmistakable.
As quick and unexpected as it came, it also left, Shouto's half lidded gaze resting on me from a small distance away.  All I can do is stare off dazed, still trying to process what just happened.
He leans back against the nearest desk in the front row.  "I guess I should've asked first."  I can see his cheeks and his ears turn almost as flushed as the color of his hair despite his hand covering half his face to hide it.  "But it was the only way I can think to get my point across without stumbling over words."
My heart still flutters trying to recover back to normal, my knees shaking as I lean against the teacher's desk for stability.  I resist the urge to touch my lips like a shocked schoolgirl, but I'm still trying to process the whole thing.  "You know," I cough, "We did already kiss when we were like...five, so this wasn't really our first.  But I don't usually count that-"
The intense color fades from his face almost at once, a darkness creeping into his gaze.  "Then," he pins me back into the desk, hands on both sides of the wood to trap me, "I shouldn't have any qualms about doing it again."
Contrasting from his strong setup, his next kiss is still shy and hesitant.  After exchanging a couple more tentative lip-caresses that still make my head spin, he's gotten his feet wet enough to go harder, establishing a rhythm between us.  As his kisses intensify, his hands reach up to cup both sides of my nape, fingers tangling in my hair desperately and tilting my head up for a better angle.  My own hands grasp the collar of his uniform, pulling him closer into the heat of the moment.
His body pushes me practically into sitting on top of the desk, moving one of his knees between my legs as he lets ones of his hands roam down to grip my waist.  The sudden tug elicits a minute gasp, allowing Shouto to nip at my bottom lip before tugging my head back to trail soft kisses down my jaw.  My fingers thread through his soft locks, letting him massage my neck with his mouth.
"W-Where did you learn all this?" I breathe out unsteadily, my breath refusing to return.
He straightens up and captures my lips in another slow kiss.  "You'll never know."  Another one.  "I've admittedly imagined this for a while."  The next kiss is much deeper, a hum vibrating from his chest as his fingers dig into my side again.  "You're special, so dear."  His mumbles between kisses become more incoherent as his kisses become messy.
"Shouto."  I finally manage to push him away for me to breathe and calm my dizzy head.  Both of us are panting.  His half-lidded eyes and flushed face tempt me, but the fear of someone walking by suddenly alerts in my mind.  "Someone might see us.  Besides, isn't there something you need to say?"
His brow lifts.  "I'm...sorry for being rude to you last week."
"That was needed, too," I chuckle, "But there's something else."
Confusion crosses his features.  "Have I done something else wrong?"
My hands slide down to grip his hands.  "Don't you need to ask me to date you officially?"
The tint of rose on his cheeks intensifies a shade.  "I thought it was clear already..."
Another chuckle bubbles from my lips and I lean up to kiss his warm cheek.  "I'll let it pass because I want to date you too."  His face begins to light up in joy, but I push off from the desk and tow him out of the room.  "But you have to start coming to class again."
Shouto catches up to keep pace with me and presses a kiss to my forehead.  "Done."
"And you need to see a therapist, Mr. Bad Boy."
He breaks out into a smile at that nickname.  "I'll think about it."

Baku deku and Todo having a crush but the girl is femme lesbian so they can’t have her XD haha let’s see these bois suffer
oop that’s gotta suck for the boys (>.<)
Tumblr media
How would the boys be having a crush on a femme lesbian? [bakugo katsuki, midoriya izuku, todoroki shoto]
  Bakugo Katsuki
Tumblr media
○ he would be so frustrated around you knowing he could never have you all to himself
○ anyone who has common sense would be able to see that bakugo obviously has a soft spot for you
○ and you weren’t dumb either- you were well aware that bakugo had a crush on you
○ but you never really say anything about it since you didn’t want to find out what would happen if you exposed what (he thought) was his most well-kept secret
○ you just let it happen, and never really commented on the subtle gestures that he threw your way to try and get your attention
○ that is, until you start to develop a crush of your own on someone close to him
○ suddenly you’re all over him, slowly but surely worming your way into the bakusquad and hanging out with them more and more often
○ it was a well known fact that you weren’t interested in boys, and so initially it confused your classmates as to why you were suddenly seemingly all over the boy who had a massive crush on you
○ but eventually they connect the dots and realize what you’ve been trying to do the whole time
○ using bakugo to get closer to Mina, who was your ultimate target
○ bakugo realizes this as well, but if it was you he was so weak that he could never say no to you
○ and he HATES it, but he can’t do anything about it, watching helplessly as you friendzone him time and time again while trying to get closer to your own crush
○ it pains him to see how you smile at the pink girl sweetly, something that he only wanted to see directed towards him
○ sure, the two of you were still friends, but he couldn’t help but feel a pang in his chest when he saw the looks you and your now-girlfriend exchanged while the entire squad was hanging out
○ after you and mina got together, bakugo’s attitude towards you changes greatly
○ he now treated you like he treated everyone else in the class, not exactly unfriendly but definitely there was now a larger gap between the two of you
○ but at the end of the day, he couldn’t deny that he still liked you a lot, and he still could never refused anything you asked of him
○ as long as you were happy with mina, he supposes he’s satisfied too
○ as much as he wants you all to himself, he still would rather see you happy with somebody else from afar.
 Todoroki Shoto
Tumblr media
○ no one would really realize that he had a crush on you, given his stoic exterior and how he never acted much differently around you
○ the two of you are really close friends, and you would always go out together shopping, or just having fun at the expense of his father’s bank account
○ he knew that he would never have a chance with him, and he would much rather stay friends with you rather than confessing and making things awkward between you
○ so he silently supports you, always there if you needed anything and made sure that you were never sad
○ honestly he’s like a little puppy that follows you around wherever you go
○ people who didn’t know the two of you well would often ask if the two of you were dating, and he would cooly deny the claims
○ and if they continue to pry, you would explain that you weren’t interested in boys, and that he wasn’t interested in you that way either
○ you always wondered why he wouldn’t get a girlfriend and instead spent so much time hanging around you; he was rich and attractive, surely girls were lining up to date him
○ but he would always just give you a mysterious look and tell you there wasn’t anyone he was interested in
○ eventually maybe after a long time someone would finally find out about his well-hidden crush on you, but only because todoroki slipped during a late night conversation, sleep clouding his mind
○ and the person who heard this confession of his would surprisingly be none other than resident angry boy bakugo
○ bakugo’s surprisingly understanding of his situation and gets why he wouldn’t want to tell anyone about his crush on you but mostly he’s just surprised that todoroki is even capable of feeling emotions
○ todoroki’s visits to the blonde become more and more frequent, since now he had someone to talk to about his little secret
○ and they would eventually bond over their frequent talks
○ you can probably guess what happens after that- todoroki shouto discovers the wonderful world of bisexuality
○ you probably wouldn’t find out until years later, when bakugo talks about it at your class reunion and thanks you for helping them get together
○ and you’re a little surprised, but all of you just laugh it off, and you tease your best friend for never telling you back when you were still in U.A
○ the two of you are still close-knit friends, and occasionally you look back and laugh back at the good times you had
 Midoriya Izuku
Tumblr media
○ he would definitely be an emotional mess around you
○ everyone would know of his crush on you, and you were no exception
○ you felt bad knowing how felt felt towards you but not being able to return his feelings
○ he was well aware of the fact that you would never be his, but he still could never get over you no matter how hard he tried
○ and so, even though he knew he didn’t stand a chance he would still consider you one of his closest friends, and would never hesitate to help you if he saw you in need
○ he didn’t blame you at all for his unrequited love for you, instead blaming himself for being so dumb as to fall for someone he could never have
○ although he would never bring up the topic with you since he didn’t want to ruin your friendship, it was obvious that he favored you much more than everyone else in the squad
○ he would spoil you with gifts and things that you had mentioned liking, telling you that “that’s what friends do”
○ at first you would just put up with it and accept the gifts, but then it all started to become too much and you start to feel overwhelmed
○ it was getting borderline creepy, and eventually you confront him, telling him you weren’t really comfortable about it
○ and he profusely apologizes, telling him that he will try to give you some personal space
○ so he pretty much disappeared from your life and didn’t talk to you anymore, but you could still feel his intense gaze when you weren’t looking at him
○ you felt really guilty for always making him feel this way and rejecting his well-intended gestures, but you also knew that it was the only way to help the boy get over you
○ because you didn’t want to be around him so much, you would start hanging out more with kirishima and the bakusquad becoming closer with them than midoriya and the others
○ you enlist help of your mutual close friend uraraka, asking her to actively help him get his mind off you, having her bring him out with the rest of their group
○ over time, her efforts start to pay off as he no longer seemed to be obsessed with you, instead spending more time with his friends engaging in healthy social interaction
○ (but neither of you knew that bakugo also had something to do with this, having yelled and punched some sense into the green-haired boy when he couldn’t take his creepy behavior anymore)
○ and after a long time and you made sure he wouldn’t fall back into his old habits, you approach him cautiously and apologize for hurting his feelings
○ he would tell you that he understands what he was doing back then was wrong, and he had also made you uncomfortable, him apologizing to you as well
○ you ask him whether he would want to be friends with you again, and he agrees, this time taking it slow so that you both would be comfortable with each other.

Prompt 26: “I think I’ve been holding myself from falling in love with you all over again.”
Tumblr media
“Are you and Todoroki dating yet?”
You choke on your drink. You cough several times, causing other patrons in the cafe to glance at you in shock or disgust. You wipe your mouth before looking at Uraraka as if she’s grown hands out of her head. “W-what?”
“Are you dating Todoroki yet?” She repeats patiently. She stares at you, eyes wide with curiosity.
You know Uraraka Ochako is blunt and straightforward, but this was just out of the blue. “W-wha—no. No. No,” You sputter, shaking your head.
“Ahhh, I thought you’d be dating by now,” Uraraka groans, throwing her head back in dismay.
You raise an eyebrow and mimic, “‘By now’ ?”
“I mean,” Uraraka points out, holding up a finger in counting. “You know each other like the back of your hands-”
“—We grew up together—”
“—You went to almost all the same schools—”
“—Shouto’s a great tutor—”
“—You guys work in the same agency—”
“—That was a coincidence—”
“—You work amazingly as a team. Even the media and public ship you two—”
“—Again, childhood friends, and it’s not my fault our boss assigns us together—”
“—You live together—”
“—To save money—”
“—My point is,” Uraraka continues as if you hadn’t interrupted. She leans forward, crossing her arms over the table. “You’ve been together for so long but not really together. You can’t tell me you’ve never thought about dating.”
“I-I, um…” You trail off, looking away.
Uraraka’s eyes nearly pop out of their sockets. “He doesn’t even know, does he?”
You nod, flushing in embarrassment.
Uraraka smacks you from across the table. “Why haven’t you told him?”
You bite your lip in deep thought. Since you were kids, Shouto’s endured his father’s abuse and pushed to surpass All Might without using the inherited Quirk. After Midoriya changed his mind during the U.A’s sports festival, he’s been more focused on his goals, as well as putting his friends and family first.
How could you get in the way of that?
You remember Shouto’s words from before, so often repeated throughout your years together; ‘… I don’t want to be like Father,’ Shouto vows. ‘I don’t want to hurt anyone, and I don’t want someone to marry me just because our kids could be powerful…’
“Shouto isn’t really looking for a relationship,” You answer carefully, avoiding her eyes. “And, honestly, I’m satisfied with the way things are right now.”
Deadpan, Uraraka questions, “ You’re lying. What if he becomes interested in someone? Will you be content?”
“Well…”
“(Your Name), I know you’re scared, but he deserves to know. The worst that can happen is that he rejects you, and you lose a perfect friendship. But you’ll never know if you could gain a future together if you don’t try,” Uraraka advices. Her watch beeps and she stands up, gathering her things. “Sorry, I have to go. But please. You’re both adults. Talk like one. Just be honest.”
Then Uraraka leaves you to your thoughts.
Just be honest.
……
You don’t return to your shared apartment until late that night. You shut the door behind you quietly, wincing as it clicks. It’s dark, all the lights off. You assume Shouto must be catching up on sleep. You sigh in relief as you make your way into kitchen and set your stuff down. You open the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water. You close the door and turn to exit the-
“(Your name).”
You yelp, nearly jumping a foot into the air as you press the bottle close to you like a life saver. You slam your back into the refrigerator door. “Oh my fu-Shouto! What the hell?” You gasp for breath and glare at him. “How long have you been standing there?”
Shouto shrugs, leaning back casually. “Not long.”
You roll your eyes, leaving the kitchen. Shouto follows behind you. He turns on the lights as you both take a seat on the living room couch. You remain quiet and open the bottle, taking several sips.
“I’m sorry I scared you,” Shouto apologizes, mistaking your silence as anger.
“It’s fine. I thought you were asleep.” You gather the courage to meet his eyes. “Why are you still awake? You had so much work, I thought you’d take any chance to get some sleep.”
“I was going to, but when you didn’t come home, I got worried,” Shouto explains, frowning.
His heterochromatic eyes harden and you look away, feeling your face heat up. “I’m sorry I worried you, I had to… think.”
He only blinks, waiting for you to continue.
‘Just be honest.’
You wring your hands together, staring at your lap as you try to figure out how to tell him how you feel. “We’ve been friends for a long time, haven’t we?”
“I’d hope so.”
“Shouto, be serious,” You whine, shoving him playfully.
He raises an eyebrow at you. “I am.”
You smile and shake your head at his obliviousness before looking away. “And friends are honest with each other, right?”
“…Yeah,” Shouto agrees, eyes trained on you.
You press your lips together, but before you could finish collecting your thoughts, Shouto spoke.
“(Your Name),” He calls, making you look up at him expectantly.
“Yes?”
“I don’t want to be friends anymore,” Shouto suddenly states, causing to snap your head to face him.
Your heart stops and you freeze in fear. “What?”
He pats your head as he chuckles, “I can tell by your expression that you misunderstood what I said, (Your name).”
“Well, what do you mean?” You pout, swatting his hand away before fixing your hair.
“I’ve known you since we were kids. Almost my whole life actually. We’ve been through good and bad times. You’ve been a constant in my life.” His tone more serious, he asks, “I think it’s about time we move forward in our relationship. Don’t you agree?”
Your face heats up and you stammer, “Are you—are you implying that you like me?”
“I’ve loved you for years, still do.” Shouto smiles, eyes softening as he gazes at you earnestly. You’ve only seen him truly smile a few times in your life, and you can’t bring yourself to look away every time. “Ever since you knocked me off my feet for the first time in sparring.”
Your eyes widen. That was years ago when you both were still in primary school.
Shouto continues, “Something changed that day, in me or in you—I don’t know. I-I didn’t see you as just a friend but more than that. You became my cold glass of water on a hot day, my blanket on a freezing night. You sewed me back together when I was tearing at the seams. You’ve seen me at my worst and brought the best out of me.”
You gape at him, mouth parting and closing as you try to thread a coherent sentence. Again, Shouto mistakes your silence, this time for hesitance and rejection. “Of course, it’s okay if you don’t feel the same. You don’t have to answer now,” He rambles, waving a hand dismissively. He glances away, afraid to see your reaction. Now, he’s second guessing himself. “You said as friends we should be honest with each other, so I just wanted to let you know—”
You cut him off with a kiss, stunning Shouto.
The kiss is quick but hard, full of years of suppressed emotions. At first you feel Shouto stiffen and you’re about to break apart, scared you mistaken his confession for a hallucination. But then he combs his fingers through your hair and pulls you closer. He slants his lips against yours, kissing you more gently. It leaves you breathless nonetheless. It feels too soon when you break apart, panting. Your chest heaves against his, and you feel his heart race. Maybe he can feel yours too?
And when he leans his forehead on yours, you grin as tears well at the corners of your eyes. “I think I’ve been holding myself from falling in love with you all over again.”

Hero
Chapter 28/??
Relationship: Todoroki Shouto x Reader (Your/Name), (Full/Name)
Summit: It all begin at the Sports Festival when Shouto’s other half met Endevour by mistake. The student never thought to see his partner fight against his father just to show him that he is wrong. It started from that instant, Shouto’s new path started exactly from that moment thanks to his friends and his beloved one.
---
“Verg Avesta?! He is the one who killed (Y/N)?!” <<Midoriya, let’s climb the building and break a window to get inside!>> Shouto creates some stairs, <<Then we can jump directly in the street. Come on! That man can’t go near (Y/N)!>>
Izuku never saw Todoroki so agitated, but without asking anything, Deku runs after him, trying to find the right window. “I never saw him so scared… Does Todoroki-kun know that man?”
<<You said Verg Avesta…? How do you know that name? Wait a second…>> the girl makes a few steps back and stares at the red weapon, <<How it is even possible…?>>
<<You recognized it?>> the man plays with the spear and lets it rests on his shoulder, <<One of the treasures of the Ryuhi family. Forged with God’s blood and the breath of a dragon, the unbreakable weapon that could kill Kafka…>>
“Who is this guy? How he knows the myth of the Ryuhi family?” the girl is composed and collect outside, inside has emotions like anxiety and fear but she controls them and keeps them hidden, there are people that she must protect, a hero never shows his fears to anyone, “I’m completely powerless against Verg Avesta… I can’t win against this guy… How can I make him retreat?”
<<Leaving behind the past, I came here for you, little girl.>> says the man, <<I heard that the Ryuhi family had a brilliant Kafka’s heir, she outclasses her ancestors in everything, so I want to test you right here.>>
<<Hah? I don’t know how did you steal that, but if you aren’t a Kafka’s lineage you can’t use the treasure.>> you try to buy some time to think at something that can save your friends, <<You don’t have any chance->>
<<You don’t recognize me either?>> thinking a bit, the man laughs and moves his black hair backwards, <<Oh yeah, that time I had short hair…>> using his spear, he cuts his own hair and shows his face with a fearful smile, <<How about now?>>
“Mismatched eyes… Two scars on the white eye and a lightning scar that cover his left side, including his pale orange eye… Short black hair with a few streaks discolored… Two metal earrings…” <<You’re kidding me… You supposed to be dead centuries ago, how the fuck are you here?!>>
<<Oh, now you remember? Nice to meet you, (F/N), I am Seatiel, as well as the second coming of Kafka.>>
“The second coming…?! What the fuck is happening here?!” think your childhood friends, they know that the last Kafka’s heir before you lived centuries and centuries ago, how he is alive?!
<<Come on, take your weapon and let’s fight for a while!>> Seatiel plays with his spear making it go between his fingers so quickly and skillfully, that it is so clear who will win if the match begins.
“I need time; I can’t protect them like this... I can’t even lie, he knows everything about the family.” <<I don’t have it.>>
<<Mh? Why not?>>
<<I’ll reject the right to be the next heir of the family, I’ll never hold it.>> you explain, even if you know better than anyone that the only thing that can destroy Verg Avesta, is the other treasure.
<<How boring, how can you fight against me…>> he suddenly disappears and reappears behind you moving the spear towards your back in a blink of an eye, <<If you can’t use your beasts- Oh dang it, I missed you.>>
“How strong are his beasts?!” you twisted and moved aside a little to avoid a strong lunge, it was so powerful that the pressure of the air broke all the window of the building near him. “I’m so sorry Shouto, but I don’t have other choice… I must do it…”
<<That’s interesting.>> Seatiel looks at your snake-shape eyes and whistles impressed when he notices the sky is becoming cloudy and feels the electricity in the air.
<<Sit upon your fulminating throne and come forth, beast of the endless storm…>> the sky is covered by grey clouds and bright lights shine behind them. Thunders fall loudly and when the clouds finally disappear, a huge yellow dragon encloses someone with its coils. A girl who takes on the appearance of a dragon, gets two horns, a jewel on the forehead and an elaborate necklace along with golden scale-like armor over parts of her arms, legs and… a long dragon-like tail. Her hair is painted with a pale yellow and her irises are shining with a bright gold.
<<Don’t do it, undo the fusion!>> screams Tenka but the girl already set her mind in her focused zone, <<(Y/N), please!>>
“I must go with this kind of power from the start. This is gonna hurt a lot… Bare your teeth girl, it’s for everyone’s sake!” <<Go mad, Ba’al!>>
<<Sorry man, you go first.>> Seatiel pushes his pal in the trap that (Y/N) set, while he jumps back, “She left the ice so she could use her beast and increase his powers with the water inside the ice. Really smart this girl, I must admit that.”
The dragon moves to the sky disappearing and a rain of lightnings falls with force and so loudly that everyone covers their ears, and the man is destroyed as the surroundings. Burned and cracked buildings...
<<Wow, you already know how to fuse with your beasts?>> the man hits the spear on the ground and his eyes assume the same shape and color as (Y/N)’s, <<Begone with the thunder clap. Bring destruction as I command, descend in front of us.>> a similar dragon surrounds Seatiel and groans at you, its lightning are much stronger and bigger than the girl’s beast, <<Let me introduce you, my Melancholy beast. Get her, Kirin.>>
As soon the dragon moves its coils, (Y/N) realizes that she is too close to her friends, so she runs using Ba’al to move faster and go farer and nearer the sky. If the hit attacks her first, Hosu is safe. As she predicted, Kirin crashes itself on her with a loudest thunder never heard and the brightest light never seen.
Todoroki and Izuku finally found a window that face your same road, but it’s freaking far from where you are. Focusing on the positive sides, Deku and Shouto climb down aiming to reach you as fast as possible.
“This guy is out of our league…. There’s someone that can help (Y/N)?” thinks Joel looking to the close road to find the strongest hero he can find, “The zone is almost evacuated… Shit, god fucking damn it!”
<<That’s impressing.>> Seatiel claps amused, <<You absorbed the power of my beast, so heroic. But…>> he sees the girl in pain, hardly breathing, <<For how long can you resist? You can’t use your arm now.>>
<<Gh...!!>> inside you there’s so much power that it’s hurting you, your body is on fire, the air is not enough, your breath is speeding up faster and faster, and Kirin completely burnt your arm.
You fall on your knee and tries to control your breath, but it’s so painful, it’s like you inhale fire and not oxygen.
<<You are a prodigy, indeed.>> the voice comes right behind you, the shock of how fast Seatiel is paralyze you, <<You are able to combine your beasts, fuse with them and you are so young.>> he’s using his Gluttony beast so well that his physical abilities are overcoming you so bad, you can’t even follow his movements anymore, in a blink of an eye, you are impaled to the road with his spear on your shoulder.
<<….Kh… Fuck…>> even the pain came later, he’s moving faster than a human brain would react, “Endevour or All Might… Please save my friends… I can’t do it! Please, someone!”
<<It was hard to reach that level. Tiring and painful trainings, endless lessons to fulfill your knowledge, those crappy traditions of the family, your role as a Kakfa’s heir… So annoying and stupid.>> he grabs the spear and pulls it out from you flesh, tights your neck in his strong grip and lifts you up, <<It’s a waste to kill you little girl, you are powerful for your age. We can destroy everything with a snap of our fingers, will you come with me?>>
<<Are you saying… that I s-should give up j-just because you’re… stronger than me?>> “I can’t breathe…!”
<<Am I wrong to think that way?>> the grip on your neck becomes tighter, <<Give?>>
<<N-not today…. b-buddy…>> “Yamato, mom, I don’t mind dying here, but if you are watching me, please, at least save my friends, Shouto and Izuku… I don’t mind having my body teared apart or consumed by my own power, no matter how painful it is, if the persons that I love will be safe… I would gladly give you my whole being to grant that wish.”
<<Bite it off, supreme God of the desolated glacial lands. Make Odin bow to you, stomp on this miserable land and incise this era with your claws.>> his eyes change color, from gold become white with a few blue shades, <<Show you strength, Fenrir.>> a frozen air involves the area, and an enormous wolf born from the frost that is formed with the thermal shock.
<<Dance, mystic beast of the icy lands.>> icy streams surround you in a little tornado that make Seatiel step back, and they turn into a giant white flaming wolf, but that’s not the animal that is the most shocking, it’s you again and your transformation.
You wear a white, ankle-length kimono with lined patterns, the robe has an attached ornate collar, edges, and shoulder design with long, wide sleeves. There are long, flowing ribbons tied at your back that form numerous large loops. A small ice flower formation at the center of your chest, a half crown of ice which extends around the back of your head. Even your hair and your eyes become white, while your lips are painted with a beautiful and deep blue. The wolf stands ready next to you, meanwhile your enemy is surprised once again.
“If she can arise her beasts so easily, she surpassed her ancestors, indeed. I learned how to arise my beasts when I was 20. It’s such a waste to kill her, she can learn more, and that earring is brutally stealing her original strength. That’s why her attacks were weaker than mine.” he gives you the time to relax, meanwhile he’ll study you a little bit, “If she had the treasure, she could control better the beasts and their effects would be reduced, why she refused it? She used too much the beasts that have the most dangerous repercussions, what is she doing? Is she a masochist or something? But, I’m really curios if she can control the Inferno Mode. Let’s test her a bit more. She wants to be a hero, right? Then I’ll be a villain, so I can fight again against her, maybe she’ll learn new moves or else, accept the treasure.”
