A while back I learned that the doll collecting community has zero patience for the anti mentality.

I find that doll collectors tend to be older than most of the community spaces I'm in, a lot of over 30's and plenty of self proclaimed old ladies that just dgaf about being judged for their hobby anymore.

A lot of the popular dolls lines with collectors happen to make the characters high schoolers (Monster High and Rainbow High are currently big brands) and they have kids shows focused on those characters.

Of course, a lot of collectors don't bother with the kids media, and just collect the dolls. There's lots of creativity like customs, handmade doll clothes, head swaps, etc. Since we're all adults here, sometimes people have their dolls model lingerie or sexy clubwear and they tend to get a lot of love.

The other day an anti posted to one of our subreddits, telling everyone to be very careful and mindful of how they customize and dress their dolls, because "They're only high schoolers, and I see too many freaks around here sexualizing them." They wrote a substantial rant, with probably every single anti trope and idea you can imagine, positively chastising the community.

They were downvoted to oblivion. No one even bothered to engage in their debate, very few people commented and the ones that I did essentially said 'no, I do what I want.' The sheer volume of downvotes indicated that a LOT of people saw the post and didn't even justify it with a response.

Now, I will say I HAVE seen doll people on tumblr act like this (saw a post the other day saying that using the slang "serving cunt" that's oft used in drag and fashion nowadays are creeps for saying that about dolls that are hIgHsChOoLeRs) but the community on tumblr is just so small I rarely bother.

I think Modern AUs of Beauty and the Beast need to lean harder on the "since the morning that we came to this poor provincial town" line

Belle came from something that is not a small, economically shaky rural town! There are a few possibilities, but I choose to understand it as Belle being a City Girl, because I think I can make it funny.

This is a City Girl who moved here, and looks Generically Pretty, because she's just Different from the others (that's why she's the most beautiful girl in town). It's not necessarily that she is prettier, but small towns tend to have limited options, and a new look is an interesting one.

She reads so many books because she never got agribusiness classes in high school, so she isn't set up for small town life in terms of actually getting a job locally, and she tends to avoid other people and hide in her books because it's easier than people. Everyone reads into this as her being kind of stuck-up and snotty because she looks down on the locals.

Her dad is some Weird City Man Who Lost His Tenure For Blowing Up The Science Wing, so he's now the eccentric who had to move to Nowhere, Middle Of for the sake of getting away from a whole lot of Crap regarding his reputation.

The local dudes who all peaked in high school are joshing for a chance at Belle, because she's the Hot City Girl. They do all think she's weird as hell because she's got Political Opinions And Uses The Wrong Slang, and are very much of the opinion that there is a certain level of crazy that can be excused by being hot enough.

Cue "Dad gets lost, gotta go find him, agree to stay in the cursed castle because, well, gotta save Dad! And curses are a pretty extenuating circumstance to 'weird guy wants me to stay with him indefinitely,' especially since isn't asking for sex or housework while living with him, so... whatever. I still have a phone and Dad knows to call the cops if I miss a check-in."

Also in regards to the various servants, there are cult rumors. These days, live-in staff are a lot less common. Nobody's seen anyone from The Big House in ages, but the building still accepts food deliveries and puts out trash for collection, so someone must be there, so the only reasonable take on why they're out of contact is cult.

From the perspective of the town... she falls for that weird rich dude who lives in the foothills and has what seems to be a cult, which for the peaked in high school crew is very "Okay. You weren't that hot anyway, bitch."

The 'magic mirror shows that Belle is trapped by a monster' is actually just people going "aw shit, new girl got sucked into the cult, should we go check on her?" Her dad keeps saying that she's fine and hasn't said anything is really wrong, but everyone insists that she's lying because it's all Cult Bullshit.

After that whole mess is over, with the Beast and crew once again human and Belle clearly annoyed and reading the riot act to both the townsfolk and Adam, showing she's not fallen for any brainwash-y bullshit, she was just a pissed-off girl who decided "I can bully him into being a better person," which is probably a bad decision, but she's a grown-ass woman, so...

The cops are no longer trying to kidnap her back from the local rich eccentric (as opposed to the local poor eccentric, of which there are several, including Belle's dad).

The townsfolk decide by and large that this was probably for the best because Belle's apparently broken the cult situation? Somehow? And people from the big house in the hills are finally visiting town and proving they're alive again, so that's good.

It was never a cult, they just couldn't show their faces when the faces were furniture.

This turned into a bit more 'massive misunderstanding' with a heavy dollop of accidental Hallmark movie, but hey, we got there in the end. We all know I love a good genre mashup, and a romcom on one side with a horror on the other is basically how Disney did it, right?

Also I've been bingeing a lot of SNL and the actress I've got in my mind for this is Ego Nwodim.

C. A. Cupid Headcanons:

Her full name is Chariclo Arganthone Cupid. She doesn’t introduce her first name, since she knows most people won’t be able to pronounce or even remember it.

She is a demigod. This means she is not immortal, but she is extremely long-living and has god-like powers. She is over 1500 years old and has been a teenager for a few centuries now. 

She caused the whole fiasco with Romeo and Juliet. She doesn’t like to talk about it.

Cupid has crazy abandonment issues. Having been left on the steps of Eros’s temple as a newborn, she’s always been grateful for her godly parents. That being said, she feels she has to prove to them that she’s worthy of being their daughter. 

She’s having a bit of an identity crisis at the moment. At Monster High, she had felt she wasn’t scary enough. At Ever After High, she feels too monstrous. She’s neither a true fairytale nor a true monster. She’s not even a true god. She tries to fill the void will some sort of distraction, whether that be her radio show or her love life. 

That said, since coming to Ever After, she’s had to change her entire personality for her own safety. She actually hates being sweet and saccharine, but she knows she has to so she may blend in. She wishes she could be more witty and outspoken like she was at Monster High, and she misses the freedom that came with attending her former school. 

She sometimes slips and calls her friends “ghouls” or “beasties”. Reactions range from confused to offended, so Cupid tries to use fairytale slang as much as possible to acclimate to this new society.

She has six older siblings called the Erotes. They are the biological children of Eros, are fully immortal, and focus more on lustful desires than real love. They would often pick on Cupid for being a hopeless, sappy romantic. They own a nightclub called Venus. 

Cupid desperately wants to know who her birth parents were. She already feels out of place in Monster High, Ever After High, and the rest of her family, so she figures knowing where she came from will help her understand her true place in the world.

She loves sweets, but she has her limits. She prefers dark chocolate and black licorice over other sugary snacks.

She hates archery. Most think it’s because she’s a terrible shot (which she is), but she doesn’t like the idea of messing with someone’s head. She will only use them if they are an absolute necessity, such as when Draculaura was hypnotized by Kieran Valentine. 

She hates love potions. She finds them deceptive and disgusting. She realizes that’s somewhat hypocritical on her end. But, in her defense, she knows the consequences that come with love and magical matchmaking. It’s why she prefers her radio show over her arrows.

Cupid is painfully aware of how fairytale society views beasts and monsters, and it’s precisely the reason she keeps Monster High a secret. She doesn’t want to lose any fairytale friends, but she also doesn’t want any of her monster friends to be disrespected. She reasons that if she doesn’t talk about it and fakes being afraid of certain situations, then nobody gets hurt. It does hurt that she can’t talk about it though.

She can fly, but using her wings for transportation takes a lot of energy. She hadn’t had to use them until recently, since her Monster High wings were made of bone. Needless to say, she’s still getting used to this new power.

She has a close relationship with Hades and his wife Persephone. She visits them during winter break.

Cupid has a thing for the color blue. She doesn’t know why, but everyone she’s been naturally attracted to has worn blue in some form. 

She loves horror movies. They remind her of her ghoul-friends, though she has a few words to say about how the fairytale word portrays monster representation. 

She’s a talented astrologer. She uses it in her love advice show and for her own life in general, mostly for her own peace of mind.

She prefers 1930s and 40s jazz on vinyl over mainstream pop radio music.

Cupid still remains close friends with Dexter. She did need some time away from him at first (obviously), but they still care about one another. She’s even formed a close bond with Raven after getting to know her more. She reminds Cupid of her friends at Monster High.

I know you’ve said you’re taking inspiration from the show as well as the books but which books? I assume the Shannon Hale ones but there’s like 20 other book as well.

1 and 2: I’m HOPING for it to be two acts, but I’m getting a bit nervous with narrowing down the script because in reality at the moment we have… enough pages for three. 😅

3. Also hoping for an open cast! We’re set in Texas, but one of our writers and actors is moving across the country soon… but 100% determined to come back, so I’d think anyone could join in!

4. This is what we’re currently discussing!! There’s a short divide on whether it should be screen accurate or vibe accurate, like Apple wearing golden sandals and Briar wearing stones like in the books. Still, I’m totally set on the costumes being wicked. We won’t let that down.

5. Oh, there are a TON of plot-moving songs at the moment; the opening is the princesses arriving to school up to the Legacy rehearsals, The Day Ever After is a whole song, all of getting the pages back and curing Giles is a song, the games in Dragon Games… etc. But there are plenty of slowing down songs, too! Usually involving Apple and all her messy business she has to deal with lol.

6. The first truly solo song is Raven’s, Legacy Day. I’m so proud of that song, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it fully. Briar gets a song if I remember correctly, and Apple… well, she’s pretty dependent on other people to get her happiness that all her songs are duets.

7. I’d love to share, but that’s a surprise ;)

8. For the most part, Legacy Day and Thronecoming are exactly the same, plot wise. Spring Unsprung gets mixed in with Way Too Wonderland which gets mixed with Dragon Games as well, and True Hearts Day elements are sprinkled in throughout. Basically, act 1 is screen accurate and act 2 we go a bit crazy. As for characters, the biggest ones are that Darling is included a hex of a lot more, and Cupid has kept her Monster High style and slang.

9. We plan to not make ANY money from this, AKA free admission and soundtrack download, and that will keep us out of… most trouble. We have plenty of legal nuts in our families that are dealing with the other parts.

10. Oh godmother I’m kinda hoping to feature as many characters as possible… we definitely have the Charming brothers, Hunter, Hopper, the Grimm brothers, the male narrator, Alastair, and I���m hoping for Chase… but also, we’re 100% down for AMAB actors playing female characters. I would go crazy over a drag or trans Cheshire Cat.

So been thinking about this for awhile. This is going to be a Maribat fic (Mostly found family, Daminette (eventually) Adrien x Jon Kent (they would be awesome together) Jason Todd x OFC (mentioned)). What if Selina took a note out of Bruce's book and adopted a little orphan of her own. What if she was close to Jason, what if she followed Dick and started the Teen Titans after losing Jason, and what if she eventually ended up in Paris saw Hawkmoth and these two kids doing their best and just went "mine now!". Well I guess we'll find out.

Kathrine "Kitty" Kyle has been through a lot in her short 23 years of life

She was adopted at age 7 by Selina Kyle, socialite of Gotham, sweetheart to one Bruce Wayne, and infamous Catwoman

Being raised by such an extraordinary woman of course meant that Kitty's childhood was anything but normal

She was running across the rooves of Gotham at age 9 leading to her first run in with the crime fighting duo Batman and Robin

She started stealing from those who deserved it at age 10

had her first run in with the newest Robin at age 11

decided she hated said Robin about an hour later

hated him a little less 6 months later,

was kinda friends with him at age 12.

Age 13 is when butterflies erupted whenever she was around him

age 14 is when she learned Robin's real name is Jason Todd and when she shared her first kiss with him.

Everything seemed perfect until she turned 16 and lost him to a monster.

She turned her back on Batman when he refused to do anything about Jason's death and joined Nightwing, now returning to his original mantel as Robin, in Jump City, where they met a cyborg, a green changeling, a sorcerous, and an alien princess and created the Teen Titans

She still talked to her adopted mother but refuse to her anything about her love

She stayed with the Teen Titans for years making friends with heros and and an villain or 2

What could Kitty say, they had a lot in common

At age 19 Kitty gets her high school diploma, and decides she wants to try civilian life for a bit

She decides to go to college in Paris having fallen in love with the city after the battle with the Brotherhood of Evil

She enters college as an art history major, something Selina got a kick out of

She found herself getting bored so she decided to get a part-time job at a little bakery by a school

The owners, Tom and Sabine, are nice but very busy

And they have a daughter, Marinette who is such a bright light in the world at age 11

Most of Kitty's shifts at the bakery is filled with Marinette chatting with her and showing of her creations and designs

And at night, well what can Kitty say, old habits die hars

She takes to the roof tops of Paris as her hero persona Dusk, Paris' newest cat themed hero

At age 20 over a video call with her mom Kitty took the first steps to truly start healing from losing Jason

Kitty: How is Bruce and the rest of the Waynes doing?

Selina gave a startle look before a small smile formed on her lips

Selina: He's doing good, he's added 3 more to the flock since you've been gone

Kitty: 3?!?!? Bruce really needs to talk to somebody about this adoption addiction

Selina gave a laugh: I've tried but what can I do he looks so happy with each of them but there does seem to be a bit of a theme with most of them

At 23 a giant rock monster attacked Paris

Kitty quickly changed into her alter ego, Dusk, and made her way to the scene at the Stadium

Dusk: What the heck?!

Dusk comes upon a scene of 2 young looking heros they can't be older than 14 and another young girl who is holding her phone recording the whole thing

Alya: Oh my gosh! It's the hero Dusk, are these 2 your sidekicks? Are you starting a new branch of the Teen Titans here in Paris? Are you-

Dusk: Ok that's enough, while I appreciate your interest, this is dangerous and you need to get to safety. You have more than enough material so go on, get to safety

Dusk: Now!

Alya reluctantly left the Stadium leaving Dusk with Ladybug and Chat Noir

Ladybug quickly told Dusk everything she knew with Chat interjecting every once and a while

Dusk: Ok first thing first, we are going to take care of that giant rock monster than we are going to meet tonight at the top of the Eiffel Tower at midnight so we can go over everything again and figure this all out, deal?

Ladybug and Chat Noir: Deal!

They took quick care of Stone Heart with Dusk reminding Ladybug to catch the little black butterfly that flew from the akuma victim

Promising to meet again that night the 3 went their separate ways

Only to meet again at the agreed upon time a place

Dusk: Okay you 2 I came early and checked and disarmed are cameras and possible bugs. I'm not going to ask for your identities, but I'm going to ask you both some questions and I want you to answer me honestly. I won't judge you for your answers but they need to be honest , okay?

The 2 younger heros nodded their heads

Dusk: first question, do you know who gave you your miraculous?

The 2 teens shook their heads

Dusk: Do either of you have any training on being heros?

Again the answer was no

Dusk: How old are you two really?

Ladybug: 14

Chat Noir: Me too

Dusk gave a sigh: Do you have anybody you can go to for help?

Again no

Dusk: Well now you do. I might not have a miraculous but I have been doing this since I was 9. I won't ask for you to share your identities with me or each other if you don't want to but I'm going to train you 3 times a week. Twice a week in your magic suits and once a week out of them. You can wear these for those trainings.

Dusk hand them 2 domino masks

Dusk: Look I'm not asking you to trust me and tell me all your secrets, I am here if you need that though, but you 2 need an adult you can turn to, somebody to teach you the ropes of being a hero, and somebody to lean on when you need it. If you two agree to this then we start tomorrow night on the roof of the Grande Falls building at the same time. I'll let you two discuss this tonight, your a team and this decision should be made as a team. After you made your decision head straight home, you need your rest after the day you had.

With that Dusk left the top of the tower heading on her patrol route before heading to her apartment to sleep

The next night Dusk watch as Ladybug and Chat Noir landed on the roof top together

Dusk gave the two a smile and only had one thought in her head

A DEEPER ANALYSIS ON THE FALL OUT BOY CLAYMATION VIDEO 

  Fall out boy released a claymation video on Christmas, as a celebration of Fall Out Boy video and a promotional video of FOB8. It certainly… is something! I believe that a lot of this has a way deeper meaning than just what we’re seeing on the surface.   I wanna take a deep dive into the analysis of the video, since there are plenty of hidden details that, knowing Fall Out Boy, cannot just be coincidences. 

QUICK WARNING: there will be some mentions/imagery of drugs, and kinda vomit. It's not at all graphic, but I just thought that it might be better to give a heads-up just in case.

A SUMMARY OF THE VIDEO

  First, I’ll give a quick summary of the video before I go on. 

The video starts out with stars falling from the sky, as the camera pans down to a Doberman sitting in a backyard. As he lies down, the falling stars emerge from the bushes and approach the dog. He stares curiously as they move toward him and sprinkles stardust onto him. As he inhales it, he starts sneezing, before his doghouse behind him reveals a portal somewhere. The dog appears intimidated as he sees a green, octopus-like monster drag him through the portal unwillingly.

  He’s taken to a much larger purple monster, so large that he can stand on its tongue. He drags his tongue back into his mouth with the dog on it and swallows him. The dog looks confused as standing around him are bright neon hands, regurgitating some kind of green substance. A lot of them appear to be dying. 

  There is one much larger hand that gets up from the ground and looks toward the dog. The hand points towards an image on the wall of a dog, surrounded by hands, and arrows pointing towards it, and he is dragged over to this painting by the hand. The door opens to a beach, where the hands seem excited to see. The dog enters the beach, the hand leaves, and he is welcomed by more creatures coming out behind the palm trees.

  A centipede like creature, and a dinosaur like creature approach the dog, and the centipede turns into a door. The dog is pushed through the door, and is pushed into what seems like the same backyard as he was in from the beginning, but daytime. There’s a man, assumingly the owner of the dog, grilling burgers, and he tosses one to the dog. As the dog is about to eat it, the owner turns around and reveals many faces all over his body. The video ends with the dog barking up at the owner somewhat abruptly.

ANALYSIS

  Now that we know the video, let's take a deeper look into the details and what this video could mean:

The dog’s dimension

  We’ll start from the beginning. The blue skies and the stars seem very similar to the cover of Infinity on High. We’ll get into why this is important later, but it definitely has an influence on the references made in this video. 

  The stars sprinkle stardust on the dog, which is what seems to be the thing that kickstarts his journey through this alternate dimension.

  Stardust can refer to a few things:   -Stardust is a slang term for cocaine   -Stardust can refer to a person’s soul being dreamlike

-Stardust also can refer to the stars and supernovae which lead to the birth of the earth, and actually is what science refers to as the things that humans are made of (97% mostly as carbon is the thing which kickstarted the creation of earth, and is what all life is made of)

  So lets apply what all of these meanings can mean for this video:   For the first definition, stardust is a hallucinogen, and the dog inhaling this could mean he is “hallucinating” what happens. Immediately after he inhales it is when his doghouse opens to another dimension. I don’t believe he’s hallucinating it, but it could be the thing which lead to him seeing this alternate dimension– maybe its a drug which allows people to enter this dimension.

  The second one could be that maybe this is a dream the dog is having, or that his soul is entering another plane of existence. However, it seems like its truly happening, so the soul explanation may make a bit more sense.

  The third is one that could be just a reach. Or it could have something to do with something I’ll mention later, about the end of the video and the man himself.

  I’m considering all options, but the first seems the most likely. 

  Purple monster layer

  Next, we’ll talk about the dimension itself:

  The dog is brought to the first layer of this dimension. I was not able to find any smaller significant details except for the monster having eight eyes, and some are a yellowish green while others seem to be bluish green. I don’t know if this means anything other than a tease for fob8. There doesn’t seem to be too much of note here, so for now, let’s move on.

  The monster’s stomach

  Let’s think about the stomach of the monster. The hands are suggesting they were expecting the dog, almost excitedly as they point towards the drawing of the dog on the wall, and this wall opens up an entrance to the next world. If the door is inside the monster’s stomach, are they living inside of the monster? It is the thing the dog entered through.

  The dog is emphasized by the markings on the wall. There are three hands pointing up, and three pointing right when facing them. These hands are right hands, which will be important later. The existing hands in the stomach appear to be all left hands. There are right hands, but the only ones I can see are dead ones. Not all the dead hands are right hands, but all the right hands are dead if that makes sense. They seem to be sick from something, as they are vomiting some kind of substance.

If we know anything from this video, if they've all been sent by the same stars, it's possible this drug they've been given could mean they're OD'ing, since it is a common symptom. I’ll be mentioning why this is applicable later, but green inverted would appear as red. Could it be they’re coughing up blood?

  The beach layer

  The next thing we see is a beach. Something that’s been really consistent throughout what we know of this storyline.

  The pink shell beach website changed as soon as this video dropped. When clicking on the seashell it now reads: “The beach was never real, none of it is”, and opening the console refers to it as a red herring. The beach has been the most difficult thing to decipher, because although its supposedly not real, its still a theme in what we’re looking at.

  Obviously, this beach has to exist on some level, otherwise why would we have seen this dog entering a beach? It can’t be a coincidence.

  But wait, it isn’t pink is it? It’s primarily green, but green is also a complementary color to pink. When inverted, it would appear pink/red. It could be that the colors are inverted in this reality. We can assume this as the trees are a dark purple and when inverted, will look brown- the way our reality perceives them.

  We are playing an alternate reality game though.

  It’s not that this beach isn’t real:

  It does not exist on the same dimension we are, and to us, does not exist.

  The final part: dog returns to his own dimension

  Now lets analyze the final part of the video, the backyard.

  The dog stayed overnight in this dimension, although he was only there was for seconds, which may suggest time passes much quicker in this dimension. If the man was grilling burgers, then we can assume this is later in the day as well, so he was there for longer than just overnight.

  The man is obviously friendly despite his appearance that we see. He feeds the dog, he smiles towards him, and continues to smile despite revealing his appearance. I assume this man must be the dog’s owner if both he and the dog are already friendly with each other and the man does not question him appearing in his backyard. The dog only seems scared of him once he notices the faces on his body, as if he isn't who he thought he was.

  The faces on his body however, seem angry and in distress as they shout, the man himself is calm. 

  I’ve been made aware (credit to @ive-traced-your-shadows for this one) that one face, on the right wrist seems to have blue eyes, and is the only one while the others have dark eyes black or brown. 

  Does this have correlation with the right hands on the wall of the monster’s stomach brought up earlier? Is there a reason why there are so many hands swallowed by this monster? Why are the right hands dead? 

  I believe this could be a reference to GINASFS, “trade baby blues for wide-eyed browns” which could be a metaphor. This metaphor has been explained as losing your innocence, as people are born with blue eyes but as they mature, may turn brown.

  Are the innocent hands dead? Does this mean innocence is no longer alive in most people, but maybe to this man who may only have an ounce of innocence left? Are the drugs and the trips they caused a symbolism of losing innocence?

  Once again, @ive-traced-your-shadows has added onto these thoughts, suggesting coming out of “the other side of the apocalypse” definitely would drain you of whatever innocence you have left, or at least most of it in the case of this man. Drugs and the apocalypse would certainly get to anyone's head.

  I would also like to mention the man being in swimming trunks, having a barbecue, suggests this is summer time.

  This is worth noting as this means we have at least one reference of three seasons so far.

  “Spring training” in the sending my love to the other side console. 

  “I’m in a winter mood” when clicking on the seashell from the same site, and the date the song snippet was dropped.

  And now, likely this, the video taking place in the summer.

  The only one we seem to be missing is autumn, if it doesn’t yet exist. 

  Or maybe it already does… Could it be “grand theft autumn”?

  But what would it have to do with this video in particular, it sounds like a reach on surface level doesn’t it?

  We’ve been given snippets of a promotional image, and @ive-traced-your-shadows has stitched them together. If you take a look, they look very similar to a specific album cover, don’t they? The same album that would have grand theft autumn. Is this album relevant to what's to come?

EDIT: this has been confirmed by the fall out boy tumblr, but I'm still giving credit to him for getting it right lol

The music snippet

We get a few seconds of a music snippet at the end, and its DEFINITELY giving off earlier FOB vibes, leaning more towards punk rock than they have in recent years (well… recent album its been like 5 years so its not very recent in terms of time, but we’re gonna ignore that).

  Several people have brought up that its similar to “Alpha Dog” which would make sense, this whole video is centered around a dog. 

“Alpha Dog and OMEGAlomaniac” for now are the only lyrics I think are relevant, and it's mostly the sound that's similar. We might have to wait and see what the song is.

I will say though, omegalomaniac is a play on megalomaniac (don’t say it don’t think it-) which means someone who is crazy with/for power. Whether its applicable or not I’m not sure.

What’s the apocalypse?

  Another thing we haven’t answered yet is, where is this dog and this man living? Where is this set?   Well, let’s take a look.   They’re living in a suburban area, the weather is sunny and warm, and there are palm trees in the background. 

  A beach perhaps? The pink seashell beach background does have a lot of houses.

  I’ve been thrown off by “The beach isn’t real”. Was it meant to throw us off from our search? Is it really a red herring or do they want us to think it isn’t? Is it possible that maybe they don’t want us to think its real?

Even if it isn't real, it doesn't remove it from the analysis.   The beach exists on some level, even if not on our world.

  And then there’s the apocalypse, which I've barely touched on yet.

  As we see, the dimension has started to affect the plane of existence the dog is on, as the monsters were the first to approach the dog. Everything seemed to be normal in terms of our reality- until the man revealed himself to be a monster himself. Are monsters affecting the reality? Is this the beginning of them starting the apocalypse? Monsters seem to be affecting the reality, and since the dog seems to know the man we see at the ending of the video can mean a few things: 

-The monsters are affecting him

-The monsters are taking his place

  A running theme in the past of Fall Out Boy is turning people into monsters (Patrick in the Youngblood Chronicles comes to mind, and Pete as a vampire in the Sixteen Candles music video), and if we’re correct about the loss of innocence, the passing of the apocalypse, then it could be this man is turning into a monster before our eyes. And as we can see, the man himself is not hostile, but the faces appear to be. They are clearly separate from who he is.

  The beach could be the start of the apocalypse, and might be why for some reason it isn’t considered real.

I don't have a for sure answer yet on what pink seashell beach could be, so I'm throwing several ideas out there, in case it sounds contradictory.

CONCLUSION

  We are getting references to a lot of albums here. Pink shell beach is going to be very important to this story, it is more than just a red herring. We may be seeing alternate dimensions and I have a feeling we could be getting another storyline with this album. The monsters are likely starting the apocalypse as they traverse our world. There is so much I am not able to sum up in just a few sentences. 

BUT HEY, THATS JUST A TH-

  I plan on adding more thoughts to this as I get more ideas, more connections- I am far from finished with my thoughts. I’m sure we are going to be getting a lot of more things over the next few months (especially if we could be getting this album in the spring/summer).

  These are just my thoughts, my word isn’t law of course. I don’t have answers for everything yet but I still feel a lot of these things are at least important to bring up.

January 2024 Devlog - Getting our bearings

Alright, we know, it's been already one (1) month since the trailer dropped and we have been kind of silent so far. In reality, we are doing work under the hood, and I've already shared some of the work I've done to a smaller circle of friends; I decided that most of it didn't warrant being shared publicy for now (due to being too early, requiring polish, etc.), and a lot of it will indeed remain under the hood for a time. But I think y'all warrant a devlog for once, so I will try and be as transparent as possible:

What you just saw was the first public, in-engine prototype footage for the game. Most of the focus so far was toward now only getting our sweet sweet models to look nice in Godot (which we somehow mostly managed to do save for issues with Godot's shadows system), but to also establish an optimal Blender-to-Godot pipeline so that getting these assets in the game would require the least effort possible for the sake of letting more effort go toward the quality of assets. We didn't manage to establish such a pipeline (yet). Game development sure would be amazing if you could just get your carefully crafted characters and animations in-engine with a simple click, amirite?

Alright, so, what else do we do in Godot? We develop the engine that will power our upcoming, innovative battle system, of course. We originally went for building the engine inside the game's main "project" (if you're confused, it's just some high-level indie dev slang) until we realised this, as well as the experimentation that comes with it, would negatively affect things for the main project. Also, using placeholder assets would be more efficient, but we're reluctant to fill the future foundation of the game with tons of useless dev garbage. So, we decided to start rebuilding allat gameplay stuff in a separate secondary project, which will be used from now on to develop our snazzy super secret revolutionary combat gameplay.

Now, a lot of the work behind the scenes wasn't consacred to the engine itself (definitely not a bad workflow guys, trust me!); under the hood, we also worked further on the aesthetic side of things: chara designs, new models, etc… As you might have guessed, aesthetics are something real important to us. Hell, we literally intended the artstyle to be the big selling point of the project, especially to our fellow Minecraft enjoyers out there that have no idea of what a "gameknight999" even is, but care about the project regardless because it could very well end up the first good ambitious MC fangame since Story Mode. Obviously, that means when it comes to adapting existing characters, we usually make em snazzy new designs to match the vibe of the game:

Beyond their designs, we also intend to make a lot more changes to several existing creatures for the sake of fitting the game's brand new vibe. Take the skeletons for example: in Minecraft, while the skeleton is very common and iconic, it isn't really considered a real "basic" enemy (it's literally a ranged attacker), especially when put next to the zombie, who easily takes the cake as MC's most basic enemy. In GKR, we decided to make skeletons able to wield a variety of weapons other than bows (swords, shields, etc.), consolidating them as the "shoto" units of the monster faction, and some of the more versatile goons Gameknight will have to face during his adventure. This is the kind of changes you will see in other aspects of Minecraft as we picture it for the reboot, offering a brand new take on the game you're used to (in total non-respect to the original Gameknight999 series which just adapted plain-ol' Minecraft as it was back in 2014).

So, in the end, what can you make of all of this? 1) So far, we've mostly worked on getting our bearings in this engine. 2) We are currently working on getting the core gameplay system to a playable state. 3) Our artstyle is awesome.

Unfortunately the creature I picked out doesn't have much of a thematic theme compared to Atom, but I felt it was extremely fitting in terms of actual utility regardless. It's a fun one too, as I feel the Noglin would fit the Monarch a lot.

The lore behind the Noglin in-game is that it's the creation (one of many, in fact) of a guy who went mad trying to learn more about a resource known as Element - to a such an extent that he literally turned into a flesh-Gravemind-monster and tried to take over a giant generation ship. Fun stuff.

Anyways, while the Noglin is super ugly/cute, it has a very insidious ability. Even the name is a hint at what it can do - because the Noglin, once tamed, has the ability to puppet both tamed creatures and people.

This makes it an extremely dangerous creature in both the wild and player-versus-player combat. To give you a little bit of extra context about ARK, a lot of the experience is focused around mounted combat on your tamed creatures (the majority of which will involve dinosaurs or other prehistoric animals), and building bases to store your loot, process resources, breed gradually better and stronger dinosaurs, and so on. Obviously, there are defenses you can implement for said bases such as turrets that will shoot at people and tames alike. Said turrets will need to be powered by electrical (or Element) generators. These two core aspects of the game is where the Noglin comes in.

So, let's give two scenarios showcasing what exactly the Noglin can do. I'm gonna put this under a readmore though because this is going to get long.

Scenario A: You're out mining resources to gather metal you need to make an industrial forge, which will be a huge upgrade from your regular forges as it'll let you 'cook' (smelt) a shitload of more metal at once over time. Suddenly, some guy on a flier (slang for a tame that can fly, i.e a Pteranodon or Wyvern) comes in out of nowhere and starts trying to kill you. In retaliation, you pull out your cryopod (basically think of it as a pokeball for your tames) and you pull out your trump card - a giant carnivore known as Giganotosaurus. You release the Giga and whistle (command it) to start attacking your attackers.

However, turns out there was another guy on a flier - he didn't engage directly in combat with you, though. Instead he pulls out a Noglin. The Noglin runs over and latches on to your Giga, and suddenly your loyal giant murder-monster isn't so loyal after all. Now, it's not munching on your enemies - it's munching on you. Needless to say, You Do Not Survive.

Scenario B: You're trying to offline-raid the base of the tribe that had the gall to mind-control your precious pocket Giga. Their base is heavily defended, with a huge wall of turrets - obviously, you could simply "soak" the turrets with a tame that has a lot of health (creatures that naturally have a lot of health like Stegosaurus and Carbonemys are commonly used for this), but your breeding line is only in its infancy and not only do your tames not have high enough of a health stat yet, but you also only have a few. For a wall of over 50 turrets, you're going to need a lot of soakers, as many of them would inevitably die from the sheer firepower.

Fortunately, one of the tribemates of the tribe you're trying to raid was dumb enough to log off outside the base.

In the time between you getting your ass beat and the raid, you managed to tame up your own Noglin. Fun fact about Noglins: they can't be targeted by most turrets. And the tribe you're raiding doesn't have any turrets capable of shooting a Noglin.

Thus, you sicc your Noglin on the sleeping guy - with you controlling the Noglin, you're able to direct the sleeping guy through the gate that leads into the base next to the turret wall, where you're able to waltz inside, go up to the generator powering said turrets, and turn it off. With no thread of turrets filling you with lead, you can now peacefully blow the base to smithereens and take what's rightfully yours.

So, yeah. Very nasty guy. Not a lot of thematic tie-ins to Monarch, but considering how useful and dangerous it can be in PVP, I feel its utility would fit him greatly considering what he does as a profession.

I might as well say how I learned about TWST and my journey through it so far with my thoughts. Slight spoilers ahead for the following a bit not much.

So to point it out, I learned about it before it’s release in eng on TikTok. I forget who’s video it was but it was like a year prior with the magical archives. I always loved some of the villains concepts as a kid, so this had me excited.

I followed the count down and the website, the pre order/downloads rewards were pretty good and they added more since the goals got hit so fast. Very interested in the fact that I was only taller than one of our main cast (Ortho).

When it came time to pick a hand, I picked Malleus. Maleficent was one of my favourite villains growing up. I don’t regret picking him to start, his CR (ceremonial robes) SR is still on my main team due to strength and Birthday Azul’s duo magic.

The free SSR I didn’t really have much preference, ended up going with Jack and he’s also a main on my team. He’s max on both spells, 2/3 friendships and close to his current max level 88/90. Currently still recovering the expenses in game, but I saved plenty beforehand.

I’ll be honest, I crush on Leona. I see the first years as kids and the second years. Most are taller than me, but I’m gonna be 20 in October so they kids. I totally first was into Malleus and Idia at first, but then book 6 in jp kinda changed things to me personally. Before it I totally would listen to the voice lines and the growl in Leona’s voice already had me. So it switched to being Malleus and Leona rather easily.

As sorta said earlier, I do look up translations for the main story mostly, haven’t looked up the full part 1 of 7 yet though. Most of my experience has been with the eng server, there are events I’m looking forward to for various reasons whether cute or Malleus in a mask (arms on show).

The eng translations in the official game have been, interesting to say the least. Cater got all those hashtags and social media language. Idia saying all his internet slang and the bunch. Epel is fine, he’s a country boy saying country things.

There’d be a lot I’d personally do if I were actually Yuu in there. Might be tempted to do what Ace did to the other Overblots. Not everyone, but a good punch on Jamil and Vil. Perhaps a slap to Leona and someone would need to hold me back from Idia in book 6. Kidnapping already traumatized ppl who were in therapy and starting to work. Plus you took the annoying but kinda lovable flame cat like monster and destroyed the dorm.

I like most of the fandom and try my best to interact. Of course I’ve seen a few accounts that were great on other platforms and then it started to have issues. I just hope most people remember this is an all boys high school.

When it’s ships, there’s plenty of cute ones and ones that make some sense. AppleJack and AppleJuice are pretty cute. ADeuce is a great team over time and plenty holding the other accountable when it counts. As long as it’s not illegal, uncomfy or I really don’t like it for whatever reason. I’m generally fine with the ships, that goes for most things tbh. Cuddles and kisses are typical safe things for all. NSFW is for 18+ characters.

Been a while since I made one, but on TikTok I have a little series of my honest opinions on characters from TWST with numbers to each one so a random number generator can pick who. I don’t have any RSA characters in it, but the staff and Grim are there. So 28 total there in that list and I’ve done 3 total (Deuce, Grim and silver).

I definitely recommend TWST when I’m talking to people about it, of course I warn that you have to pull for characters.

I do my best to use my Genshin pull luck, but I will admit I’ve spent money on this game and not the other. I spent like $40CAD trying to get Fairy Gala Leona. I’ve currently saved up some 10 pull keys for birthday Malleus. I only have Cater, Azul, Ruggie and Lilia for the birthday cards so far. I do the monthly card.

I think I’ll leave this here though, I’ll be sure to share what other item I preordered from AmiAmi in April.

4.Favorite overall path? Castti was my main and I think she's my favorite of the playable characters overall by a fair amount.

She's such a kind soul but also capable of understated and/or explicit sass, as shown at various times during her interactions with Edmund, Partitio, and Andy. I've seen so many series where the helpless doctors serve as a side character, failing to convince people to take the plague seriously until the mc steps in. So it was refreshing to see Team Asano take that dynamic and go, "Hmm, but what if the doctor had a massive axe and agency?"

There's also a lot of casual coolness to some of her lines, like the bit where she says, "I'm going to have a word with that antlion." With all the collected poise of someone about to talk to a landlord about getting their sink fixed. I'm convinced she has a very supremely high Karen power level but will only use it for good.

I think I encountered a post pre-release warning people off headcanoning her as the momfriend of the group ala Ophelia, but c'mon, the writers had two separate characters literally call her mom. More people than call Osvald "Papa", I think.

Also having Castti in the group meant concocting and the sweet, sweet pomegranate was always close at hand.

(There's not a character in the main playable cast I really dislike.

7. Favorite default job? Gotta be merchant. Bifelgan's MONEY LASER is a cool effect, and Hired Help is hilarious, somehow fitting Partitio even more than it did Tressa, since he's all about getting a posse together whereas Tressa goes on mostly a solo trek. And of course it allows for extreme meta comedy when used in a spot such as Hikari's duel with his inner darkness.

Digressing, but I did a solo Tressa run of OT1 including all 4 optional job bosses and it was part of my strats for all four. Winnehild actually was surprisingly vulnerable to the poison/blind 2-fer the Dancer summon has. I felt it was less useful in the OT2 early game, but somehow became an even more busted skill with the ability to do automatic shield damage (Beastlings) or 9999 plus a stat debuff (Foreign Assassin).

(Castti and Ochette were probably the most dynamically fun characters to use, but that was less because of their default job skills but more because concoction and monster friends had so much strategic potential.

13.Favorite soundtrack?

Hollow Empty Memories was a great track that was exactly the right kind of light yet haunting mix of bell sounds for the shell-shocked mood Castti chapter 3 put me in. I think I just sat there staring at my screen for a solid five minutes after drinking that ending monologue in and the music just washed over me in a really emotional way.

Shoutouts to my two runner-ups: A. Ochette, the Hunter -Ochette's theme kicks whatever one needs to kick to be really freaking cool. B. Invitation to Darkness -Great building pipe organ backbeat to set up for that ominous final Vidania confrontation.

17. Best relationship/dynamic between 2 characters (& elaborate!)?

Partitio/Ori

I liked Ori for a series of immediate and very specific personal reasons on meeting the character. You had that bold, plucky tone of voice she used when introducing herself in chapter 2, the way she tends to show up and freak Partitio out, and the way she gradually went from a neutral observer to someone who decided to spend some time helping him out, to eventually sticking her neck out for him by distracting the guards on Roque Island. And the way the last 3 chapters of Partitio's story are told through her eyes via the newspaper articles gives you even more time with her penchant for cheeky wordplay with a touch of steam-era slang. I warmed up to her character so much in such a short time.

And then it got better.

Journey for the Dawn was a massive "Yes, and…" to all of that characterization, showing you how the plucky reporter persona was an act she put on in the narrative equivalent of getting smacked in the ribs with a tire iron. Then they double up on it again by showing she switches back into puppy dog writing style when talking about her time with Partitio, even within her private diary. And then you actually see her pull back on the ritual and I'm going to cry all over again.

If there's some extra story scenes that get released a year and a half later ala what happened with Triangle Strategy, just know that I need these two specifically to interact.

Tell me about Harriet Lapine! (Also, what's a Moon Rabit? /gen)

The Moon Rabbit, or the Jade Rabbit is a piece of folklore originating from East Asia and from certain Native American cultures. It's an interpretation of the dark markings on the moon that look like a rabbit or a hare.

I'm going to quote Wikipedia here so forgive me if I'm incorrect about anything

'In East Asia, the rabbit is seen as pounding with a mortar and pestle, but the contents of the mortar differ among Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese folklore.'

In all of the stories about the Moon Rabbit/The Jade Hare, it's seen with a mortar and pestle making different things, from a life elixir, to cakes, mochi and rice cakes depending on which culture you're reading about. In other versions the rabbit is pounding medicinal herbs.

I kinda took all of these pieces and put them together to make a version of the Moon Rabbit that would fit easily into Monster High and Ever After. It goes back to my interpretation of both worlds and how they work. As a piece of folklore, the Moon Rabbit originates from Ever After (Harriet's ancestors moved to Monster High way before the closing of the bridge between the two, so she was born and raised in the Monster World.)

Harriet is a potion master, she learned from her whole family after all. She can make almost anything if given the right ingredients, and tends to experiment a lot. She can be found making and giving out the things she makes (whether it be elixirs or edible things like cakes and moon pies) all the time. She's a bit quirky and tends to weird out the kids of Ever After High, but she's tolerated for the most part (especially because of free food.)

Harriet's a free spirit, and came along with C.A Cupid when she made her (unbeknownst to her) last trip to Ever After. Due to them getting stuck, Harriet enrolled at Ever After. Milton was shocked to see the child of the Moon Rabbit back after hundreds of years but welcomed her (if only in order to get her to sign the book. . .is her story even still there?) She tends to stay close to Cupid for the most part, but does do things on her own, but you can mostly find her cooped up in her dorm or in the Castleteria kitchen making whatever comes to mind.

She, like Bunny and Penelope, has the ability to transform into a rabbit, and she usually does it when she's transporting small ingredients, or trying to get somewhere quickly. She's very open about where she comes from, and tends to use monster slang instead of the fairy tale slang. Everyone's stopped asking about her origins because they get too creeped out, or just don't believe her. She and Cupid remind each other of home, hence why they're close.
