Weird ask to send but I saw a tag you had about the flipnote artist porio and I was wondering if you knew of any work of theirs besides the two jozurin-p videos
Oh porio? I can't find much of their art but they have a Twitter they haven't updated in a while. Actually, they ended up deleting a good chunk of the stuff they posted to Twitter and the account's protected. I don't think they have any other work outside of that that I know of. The artwork that they have left are the reference sheets for both videos and a simple doodle if you're wondering. I feel it would be bad faith to repost them however, so sorry.

This is a formal analysis of  William Kentridge’s More Sweetly Plays The Dance (2015) currently displayed in the National Arts Gallery.
Tumblr media
William Kentridge’s More Sweetly Plays The Dance (2015) is a room-scaled mixed-media installation featuring 6 video projections on 6 tableaus with 3 Trumpet-like speakers on tripods spaced equally in front of the spaced between the projections. Within the room, there are several chairs inviting the audience to sit and observe the piece. Kentridge’s work features the people a modern version of his birthplace, Johannesburg. Using the theme of caravan procession, Kentridge uses a representation of the dance macabre, or Dance of Death, a historical invention from the late medieval period which was an allegorical way of resisting as well as respecting the force of death.
More Sweetly Plays The Dance features characters from the streets of Johannesburg, from realistic figures of children, labourers, recycling trolley pullers (burlaks), a group of musicians played by the African Immanuel Essemblies Brass Band, Ebola patients walking with their intravenous drips, priests moving almost jauntily, with funeral flowers, people marching and dragging sacks and pulling forward dead bodies to more cartoonish figures such as the grim reapers, dancing skeletons, politicians with the representational figure of a man of colour in pop culture; all of whom march across the screens from one end to the next in a solemn yet jovial way.
Meanwhile, while music played by the African Immanuel Essemblies Brass Band is trumpeted through the speakers across the room following the figures from one side of the room to the next, signalling the coming of the heralds of death in an almost joyous fashion.
Furthermore, the background images are treated in Kentridge’s signature style of altered, erased and reworked charcoal drawings preserving every addition and erasure as they evolve, showing the changing wasteland of mining landscapes around Johannesburg. With the images rendered in charcoal are not only in black and white as they are also marked by the grey nuances of history, literalized by the shadow marks, smudges, and ghost lines left on the paper surface after the artists photographs each scene in stop motion, then erases and makes incremental adjustments to the images; All of which are hand-drawn one frame at a time, by the artist himself without the help of assistants.
More Sweetly Plays the Dance is based on the artist’s experience of the South African apartheid and its aftermath (spawned by, and feed off, the brutalized society left in its wake) to address abuses and human suffering in terms of memory and consciousness, from both a local and a timeless human perspective.
I find Kentridge’s More Sweetly Plays The Dance quite impressive from an artistic and technical standpoint. As Kentridge uses his hand-drawn charcoal illustrations that have been drawn and redrawn to represent the great passage and evolution of time through visuals of the background. Not counting the amount of time and effort is must have taken to draw each frame individually and on 6 screens each representing a different part of the background, he also timed the procession on videos playing on the tableaux to match each other thus when a figure walks off one screen they transition to the next giving the illusion of watching the characters marching in a procession from one end of the room to the other.
In the world of More Sweetly Plays The Dance Kentridge brings the viewer into the 2-dimensional psychology of the characters who dance/march unabatedly towards the end of the room or their death. Representing that dance is a way of living through violence and a way of dying by it, showing that death is a unifying force for all people.
The characters dancing across the screen, alongside representational figures of death and the vibrant and loud music, giving the feeling of the music from New Orleans which has a historical reference to black culture, all contribute in creating an atmosphere of chaotic gaiety. While at first glance it appears to be an amusing and vibrant scene when observed more closely shows through visuals the suffering characters and their constant struggle over carrying their own baggage. Understanding what this work represents it demonstrates in a more associative way the cruelty, horrors and violence of the apartheid and the lasting effect it still has on the people to this day. Even with such a heavy subject portrayed, by use of his non-declarative style and upbeat music the piece becomes easier to watch although its contents and meaning may be difficult to swallow.

As popular as Polish Boys are in town, depending on in which on the town you are, they may be a touch hard to discover. When I turned into a kid, we used to get them on our way to the Cleveland Indians video games from the numerous sidewalk companies downtown by means of the stadium. Nowadays, your nice guess is "Seti's", which is a cupcake recipes food truck that's generally parked at Dean Supply, a restaurant deliver in town of Woodland Ave. Additionally, maximum Soul Food restaurants like B&M's and Hot Sauce Williams can have the authentic and additionally they make their personal twist on the conventional.
I know you are likely wondering, "If they're so suitable, how come I haven't heard of Polish Boys?
Well, in contrast to different American towns called food chocolate cake recipes locations with favorites like:
Philly Cheese steaks (Philadelphia), Po 'Boys from Nawlins' (New Orleans), or even Pink's Hot puppies in Los Angeles. Like maximum the whole thing else from Cleveland, there may be little or no fanfare and appreciate for the greatness abound. But those that recognize come and revel in a amazing treat, at the same time as snobs and the un-sophisticated pass over out. Just recall, recall napkins... Plenty of napkins!
Feeling adventurous? Bring a touch Cleveland into your house and try to make your personal sandwich?
Below are the primary substances and commands for approximately 4 sandwiches:
You will need:
* 2 lbs. Of potatoes, break up cut, washed and peeled, fried in Canola oil and Salt
* 4 smoked beef kielbasa links boiled. (Optional): quick deep fry them after boiling

The goals you set for your homeschool classroom need to be easy to measure. Write down exactly what you want your child to know at the end of each day, week, month and lesson plan. For example, "I would like John to be able to multiply up to ten" is a great short-term goal. "I would like John to know all about World War II" is a long-term goal. Tips To Make You Look And Feel Great
In the world of beauty, there are plenty of great resources available to both new and experienced beauty fanatics alike. Tribal Tattoos  There are many guides, books, videos, and other resources available. This set of tips contains some of the best advice for helping a good beauty fanatic become a great beauty fanatic.
To give your lips a plumped-up appearance use a highlighting lotion or white shadow above the "cupid's bow" on your top lip. This will improve the reflection off of your lip, giving you the glow that you desire.
If you have a high forehead, you can use common cosmetic products to draw attention away to your face. Using a matte, powdered bronzer or blush that is one shade deeper than your normal shade, brush the powder along your hairline beginning at your ears. Use a cosmetic sponge to blend well, then brush your hair over the hairline.
Apply cream to your eyes every night. The skin around your eyes is delicate, and not as thick as the skin elsewhere on your face. This makes the skin around your eyes more prone to be lined and dry. Keeping the skin moist is a simple solution to that beauty problem.
Do not forget your hands need to be pampered too. Hands are often overlooked in beauty treatments. That is why it is said, if you want to know someones age, check their hands. In addition to daily treatment with lotion or cream, you should exfoliate your hands once a week.
By using rosewater or cucumbers you can rid of the dreaded dark circles under your eyes. Both of these have natural properties that will cool your eyes and lighten the skin beneath them. You can use this treatment by taking a cotton pad and dipping it in the liquid from either rosewater or cucumbers. Put this over your eyes for at least 15 minutes.
Place thin slices of potato over your eyes to make them less puffy. You should let it sit for at least ten minutes. You can also use a chilled teaspoon, cucumber or teabags. Your eyes will instantly appear refreshed.
Large pores on the face are a common problem and can be helped. Age and genetics are the cause of large pores and there is a way to help shrink them, go to the dermatologist or spa. There you can receive a microdermabrasion treatment which will gently remove the top layer of dead skin and decrease pore size.
To highlight your eyes and make them look larger and more awake, use a shimmery, pale shade of vanilla or light gold just under your brow bone. You can sweep it down to cover your entire lid for a natural look, or sweep it on after applying your other eye colors to frame your eyes.
If you have found a shampoo and conditioner that work well for you, then you should stick with them even if the brands may be different. It is best to choose those that have the same style intentions, however, such as getting both products for curl enhancers, color enhancers, etc., as the ingredients will be similar.
If you have skin that tends to get shiny, you can do one of two things throughout the day. If you want to be fancy, you can buy a packet of face-blotting sheets. These smell wonderful and are impregnated with scented transparent powder. Or you can take a sheet of regular toilet paper and press, not rub, on the oily areas.
If you want something dramatic for your eyes, try liquid eyeliner. Liquid eyeliners allow for more creativity, allowing you to create a look that makes your eyes pop. Use a small brush with angled bristles. This gives you greater control and clean lines.
People who have experienced a series of bumps on the back of their arms understand what keratosis pilaris is. This is more common in the winter as cold air dries your skin. Use a good body scrub to gently exfoliate the skin, and the put on a good moisturizer.
If you hate the problems of clumpy and matted eyelashes, try using an eyelash curler. This will make the eyelashes thick and full without using any products. When using the curler, start at the roots and only use on lashes that are clean. Over time your lashes will become fuller, thicker, and beautiful.
Wearing heavy foundation or powdery makeup is not a good look for faces over 40. It accentuates the drier character of the skin. If your face is 40 or older it's better to use a lighter touch. If your skin is fairly even-colored you may be able to skip foundation entirely. Foundations should be very light in weight.
Using Vaseline on your eyebrows and eyelashes is going to have a couple different benefits. If you use it at night before you go to bed, you are going to benefit by having lashes and brows that are much shinier. If you use the Vaseline to prep for brow liner, you will notice that your brows will stay in place better.
Are you looking for a simple soft look? First apply a light liquid foundation. This will give you a natural feel. If you need to even out your skin you can also apply concealer. Next, apply a soft creamy brown eyeshadow and a coat of light mascara. Last, add peach tinted lip gloss. This will give you the simple fresh look you are looking for.
Whenever you use lip liner, make certain it is a shade very similar to that of the lipstick you will wear with it. If your color is too far off, it will draw the eye to the edges of the lips, rather than the lips themselves.
After reading these tips, you can begin to understand what it takes to become a great beauty fanatic. There is a lot of information to be had, and you need to know how to apply it. With this in mind, you can refine your own methods, techniques, and products and start creating your own beauty regimen.

 What?
The Living Need Light, The Dead Need Music - Draws its title from a Vietnamese proverb.
The film is a romantic portrayal of life, death, and reincarnation, in a South Vietnamese context. The film is presented in three parts, loosely following a narrative of the wake, procession, and burial of an androgynous character. Poetic imagery is rapidly interspersed with bits of the documentary, suggesting an alternate perspective on funeral rituals, as that of a celebration of death instead of grief. The amalgamation of traditional symbolism accompanied by modern pop songs along with rich cinematography takes the viewer on an intense musical journey, in which he/she learns that the dead never truly stay dead, and that life is merely a never-ending cycle of death and rebirth.
The film captures the essence of traditional Vietnamese funeral practises. The propeller group intended to make a tribute to funeral processes in the region. While funerals are usually a solemn affair, the film showcases the celebratory nature of Vietnamese funerals. The intentional of pop music highlights this aspect of the funeral.
While we seem to think that life and death are opposite, they are in fact intertwined. narrative “I departed on a cold winter night and came back to life in the future/ With that, I’ll never die”.
 Symbolism
In ‘The Living Need Light, The Dead Need Music’, symbolism is largely apparent throughout, in the forms of the snake and the skull of a cow. The symbol of the snake is incredibly significant specifically to the Vietnamese culture, as shown by the parts it plays in this film. Snakes are symbolic to the Vietnamese are they are viewed as the ancestors of the Vietnamese, as well as the gods of water, which ties in with the film’s multiple settings in water bodies (the sea, the swamp, etc.). Snakes also symbolise immortality The skull of a cow may seem to represent Death on the surface, but it is actually tied closely to Life and Earth as well, as cows are often regarded to represent Mother Earth due to their giving nature (milk, meat etc.)
 Characters
This film stars a number of characters, some of which are more dominant and help to construct a narrative that tells about the funerary practices of Southern Vietnam. The main character is an androgynous man who appears as both male and female
The next standout character is the little boy who is seen running around in what seems to be a school uniform. We think that the boy represents life, reincarnation and the vitality of the living. He could also be the main character’s younger self.
the band major and the brass band. They partly appear to be fantastical in nature, with funny-looking trumpets that add to the idea of a grand celebration in death.
 (Xuanfei, 2016)
 When?
2014
 Where?
The colourful funeral procession travels from Ho Chi Minh City for a visual, musical tour of the eccentric funeral traditions and rituals of Southern Vietnam.
This film is set mainly in the housing residences of the deceased and their family. This is the place where the wake is usually conducted. The film is also set in the forest and lakes. These settings are used with reference to the Vietnamese idiom “being born from the earth, one must return back to the earth.” The procession brings the coffin through the lake and into the sea. In this case, the forest and lake are used represent the “earth”. The performance conducted by the funeral entourage is usually on the streets. This depicts the traditional nature of the practices carried out by the performers during the funeral.
 (Xuanfei, 2016)
 How?
Shot in ultra-high-definition video, and produced with the technical sophistication of a Hollywood film, it immerses viewers in a lush and captivating dreamlike atmosphere.
The hypnotic pace intended to ease viewers in slowly, “as opposed to bombarding you, like so much imagery does today,” Lucero says. Key to this effect is the Group’s choice to shoot every scene in the film, from its documentary passages to the staged tableaus, using overcrank—essentially capturing more frames than necessary so that the footage can unfold in slow motion without losing its sparkling, cinematic quality. The effect is such that you are lulled into a state of near-sublime visual pleasure, only then to realize the incipient sadness of what you are watching.’’
(E-flux.com, 2015)
 Why?
Originally commissioned for the Prospect 3 arts festival in New Orleans, the film conjures a spatial confluence of the Mekong River and the Mississippi Delta, places that are similarly grounded in swampy landscapes and processional music traditions
The practice of hiring the funeral band and performers was actually a sense of consolation to the family members (“The living need light”) and entertainment to the dead (“The dead need music”).
The professional challenges surrounding the making of the work
The amount of research that the propeller group had to do in order to  find the right locations, Hiring of actors and fully immerse themselves into Vietnamese culture
Level of professionalism needed in order to show decorum to family of the deceased
