Merry bday! A continuation of Enola Holmes marrying the viscount of Basilweather would be really cool 😀
a continuation of 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
She wrinkles her nose when Tewksbury passes over her cup of tea with two sugars, unstirred, and she knows.
She puts down the cup too quickly, blood pounding in her ears, and Tewksbury frowns, reaching for her hand. "Enola?"
"Got to go," she says, pushing herself to standing, almost just leaves him sitting there, hand outstretched, but he's her husband and she loves him, so she darts over to smack a kiss on his lips before she's running for the door.
"Enola!" he calls out again, but now he sounds less worried and more exasperated, which is better, which is good. There's nothing for him to worry about.
She wants her mother, who's banned from London and is causing political unrest in Southern France currently, or Edith, who's doing something clever and illegal in Scotland. She'd take Victoria, but Mycroft will be there, and he's the last person she wants to see right now. Sherlock, while beloved, is useless, but his boy is a doctor.
She drops in at 221B Baker Street, picking the lock like always, and is relieved that Sherlock is still asleep and decides not to have any opinions on the various bones scattered about the kitchen table. She assumes there's a reasonable explanation for them.
"Oh, Enola!" John grins and shoves some femurs to the side to make space at the table. "Here, join me, would you like some oatmeal? Are you looking for your brother? I can wake him-"
"I'm pregnant," she blurts out, then bites her bottom lip.
John blinks once, then twice, then says with a gentleness that had made her like him in the first place - because Sherlock wanted to be gentle, but was quite bad at it, so someone had to teach him - "This is what you wanted, isn't it?"
Wanted seems like not the correct word, although of course it is, because she and Tewksbury had been, not trying, but not-not trying, which probably amounted to the same thing, considering how often they - well.
"I can fix it," he says, voice low and serious, "if it's something that needs to be fixed."
Enola lets out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. "No. No, it doesn't need to be fixed."
She loves that he offered. She loves John, more her brother than Mycroft will ever be, sometimes even more her brother than Sherlock is. If nothing else, her brothers had picked their partners well. Victoria and John are a delight.
John is the functional one between them, explosions and skeletons notwithstanding. John is the one that coaxed her brother into a proper relationship and John is the one that knew they were like parents to all the Irregulars and John isn't normal but he grew up normal.
"Are you worried something's wrong?" he asks. "I can look you over."
"No," she says, although, "I mean, yes, that'd be nice because Tewksbury will go spare, but no, I'm not worried anything's wrong."
He leans back in his chair, looking her over, and after almost ten years of dealing with her and Sherlock and even occasionally Mycroft he can read them almost as well as they can read everyone else.
"It's alright to be scared," he says finally. "Lots of women are when they find out, even when it's wanted, even when the baby's healthy."
"I'm not scared," she says, but for the first time her words feel like a lie. "I shouldn't be scared. What do I have to be scared of?"
She wishes her mother was here.
Will her children miss her like this too?
Sometimes she misses her mother even when she's right in front of her, and if nothing else, she's her mother's daughter.
John gets to his feet, stand in front of her, and opens his arms. She looks away even as she steps forward, like if she doesn't look at him when she does it then it doesn't count as weakness.
His arms close around her. He smells like chai and antiseptic and it's only years of association that make the combination comforting. "I can't wait to be an uncle."
He'll be an uncle. Sherlock will be an uncle. Even Mycroft, and Victoria will be delighted to be an aunt, and to raise her children with Enola's. Of course there's her mother-in-law, and Tewksbury's uncle, who have been angling for her to have a child from the day they married.
There's Tewksbury, who loves her, who isn't going to die on her or leave her if either of them have anything to say about it, who isn't going to leave her to raise their children the way her mother raised her.
Alone.
She's been saying she wasn't going to do this alone from the beginning, but standing here in Sherlock's kitchen, with John holding her steady, she really believes it.
#prompt answers#prompts are closed#asks#anon#enola holmes#if we get a third movie my characterization of john will be wrecked#but know in my heart he is a lovable mad scientist with poor impulse control

"i know you two. and if i'm gone, i know what you could become. because i know who you really are. a junkie who solves crime to get high, and the doctor who never came home from the war. will you listen to me? who you really are, it doesn't matter. it's all about the legend, the stories, the adventures. there is a last refuge for the desperate, the unloved, the persecuted. there is a final court of appeal for everyone. when life gets too strange, too impossible, too frightening, there is always one last hope. when all else fails, there are two men sitting, arguing in a scruffy flat, like they've always been there and they always will. the best and the wisest men i have ever known, my baker street boys, sherlock holmes and dr watson."
tldr: dead wife pre-records a message, telling her husband and his best friend to cut the bullshit and get together already
#SERIOUSLY what else is this supposed to mean#bbc sherlock#sherlock holmes#john watson#mary watson#johnlock

I think a decent litmus test for Doctor Who companion diversity is "what percentage of your companions has heard of Sherlock Holmes?"
Most of the First Doctor's companions would recognize his name, but not all (Katarina obviously not, Steven and Vicki questionable as far as I remember). Half of the Second Doctor's wouldn't know who he is. All of the Third's would, but that's UNIT era. Half of the Fourth Doctor's would and half wouldn't. The Fifth Doctor has a 60/40 split in favor of name recognition, but that's counting Peri who's barely in his run. And then the Sixth and Seventh Doctors have 100% recognition of Sherlock Holmes in their eras.
In New Who, Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Doctor companions are also 100% People Who Know Who Sherlock Holmes Is, as far as I remember (I don't know Ten's one-off companions though). The Twelfth Doctor has a possibility of something else with Nardole. I believe the Doctors after him have, so far, indisputably only traveled with People Who've Heard Of Sherlock Holmes.
#companion diversity isn't necessarily about where/when they're originally from#or what type of Being they are#it's 'how foreign is their culture relative to the viewer's?'#for instance river is Different in several ways but even if you count her as a companion she DOES know who serlock holmes is#it's not just 'are they [Our Culture Plus Cool Stuff]' but 'are they [Different Culture]'#bring back the aliens and the pre-modern kids and the people from so far in the future they've become severed from our cultural touchstones#dw

Mistaken Identity
(Link to ao3)
John was standing on the curb in front of a pharmacy, waiting for Sherlock who was hunting some special ingredient for an experiment John was sure he didn’t want to know about. Hence he’d already forgotten what exactly Sherlock was looking for in that pharmacy.
Considering the time John was standing here already, it must be something they didn’t want to sell him.
John sighed and shifted his weight.
His gaze fell on a woman who was crossing the street, smiling broadly. It looked almost as if she was coming towards him. John smiled back, just in case, and the smile on the woman’s face widened impossibly. Oh, she was coming towards him then. John straightened his posture a little, then the woman was already standing in front of him.
“Hi,” she beamed at him, stretching the word almost comically.
“Hello,” John greeted back, a little warily.
“Hi, I just saw you standing here, and I must tell you, you look like this detective bloke!”
“Err…” John frowned. “You mean Bond? Daniel Craig?”
Some of his former girlfriends had told him that he had a faint resemblance to the famous actor, although he'd never been able to see it in the mirror.
“No no, not from a movie. The detective bloke! You know, from the papers.” She paused, tilted her had, then seemed to have some kind of enlightenment.
“No! Oh I’m so sorry dear, the blogger. Not the detective, his blogger. What was his name, he’s a doctor, I think. Watson! Right. You look just like that famous Dr. Watson.”
She beamed at him happily.
“Um, maybe that’s because I am Dr. Watson…?” It sounded more like a question than John would have liked, but the woman was quite confusing.
“Ah no no,” the woman laughed, waving a hand. “Good one! But you do look exactly like him. You could be his secret brother or something.”
John looked at her, slowly growing irritated. “I’m not a secret brother or something, I’m Dr. John Watson. The one who writes the blog.”
“No you’re not,” the woman retorts, grinning widely. “You won’t fool me.” She looked almost proud.
John barely suppressed a sigh and was considering just wishing her a nice day and wait somewhere else for Sherlock, when he heard a deep voice behind him.
“And I look just like that detective Sherlock Holmes then, right?”
Now John did sigh, but in relief.
“Well, err…” The woman was looking at Sherlock. “Oh.”
“Yes,” Sherlock spat, “Oh. So if you would accept now that you are indeed standing in front of the real Dr. Watson, and are insulting him rather expertly? And before you say you don’t believe me either, I would suggest you hurry to get to your job at that cafe before you’re late. Wouldn’t want to be fired, would you? Since you’re dressing up so nicely to attract customers, after your husband just left you. Rather desperate I’d say, but if you can’t recognise people even if they’re telling you their name, I would agree to take every opportunity you get.”
“Sherlock,” John hissed. The woman was now looking rather hurt, close to tears even. Even though she’d been a bit annoying, she didn’t deserve that tirade.
“Well,” she sniffed and straightened her posture. “Would’ve been better if it hadn’t been you then.”
With that she turned on her heels and stalked away.
John turned to Sherlock, who was staring after her with narrowed eyes.
“That wasn’t necessary,” he scolded.
“Yes it was,” Sherlock huffed. “She was annoying and stupid. And she didn’t believe you.”
John sighed. “Did you get what you wanted?”
Sherlock held up a small bag. “Eventually.”
“Do I want to know about it…?”
“Probably not. Now, let’s go home. Enough stupidity for one day, don’t you think?”
John huffed and took the offered hand, intertwining their fingers.
“You’re unbelievable.”
Sherlock smirked. “I’d hope so.”

A-Z Sherlock Fan Fiction Tropes Bingo
Ahhh, so I saw this Fanfiction Bingo Card by @swissmissing going around, and even though I wasn't ever tagged, I wanted to do some recs of my own because, like, that's my whole brand LOL. I hope no one minds...🙃 I needed to have a list ready for this Sunday, and this was perfect, LOL.
And because I'm always trying to overachieve on these challenges, I'm going to do full black out, BOTH tropes in each square.
This will be a Combination of my read fics and "to read" fics [to fill in spaces I don't have tags for], which I will append the latter with (MFL) just like so, for those of you who only want fics I've personally read. And apologies, I had to remove some of my standard links to fit them all within Tumblr's link limits, so author names aren't clickable AND I've removed all series' links, so be sure to check out other stories by the authors!!
AND FINALLY, this is a rare list that I DON'T have in word-count order, just so y'all know! I hope you guys like the fics I've pick for y'all. Literally random picks from my lists, based on tag searches, LOL.

It's too late, now, for the things he first denied before he'd ruined any chances he might have had. Sherlock also thinks that people who get tattoos are idiots. But perhaps he's about to learn a thing or two, not least of which might be it's not as late as he thinks it is.

I think this all the way back to my Exit, planning where I’ll wait and what I’ll say when I see him. Scheming on how to get his name. Next Gen.: If Equal Affection Cannot Be by blueink3 (E, 31,156 w., 3 Ch. || Post S4, Family, Retirement, Grown Up Rosie, Angst, Reunion, Loneliness, Sussex, Fluff, Sexy Times, Happy Ending) – Sherlock fled London a couple of years after John left him in hospital with nothing but an old walking stick and a half-hearted goodbye. Rosie grew up thinking that Sherlock died when he committed suicide in front of her father by jumping from Barts' roof. So it's somewhat awkward when they run into each other in a Sussex general store between the loaves of bread and the Mars bars... (MFL)
Omegaverse: A Fold in the Universe by darkest_bird (E, 152,869 w., 26 Ch. || PODFIC AVAILABLE || Omegaverse / Prime Universe Crossover || OmegaJohn / AlphaSherlock, First Kiss / Time, Friends to Lovers, Established Relationship, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Dubious Consent, Humour) – Alpha Sherlock and Omega John are in a relationship. Only One Bed: The Cure for Snoring by Goddess_of_the_Night (G, 1,278 w., 1 Ch. || Sleepy Conversations, Bed Sharing, Cuddling, Fluff, Domestic, Platonic / Sleepy Cuddles) – Sherlock and John spend the night in Scotland after finishing a case. The sole Inn in town only has one room left...one bed. This would be fine - if not a bit awkward - if Sherlock hadn't developed a habit of snoring loudly. John suffers through many hours of sleeplessness before he discovers that skin-to-skin contact stops the noise. Part 1 of Dreamscapes
Parenthood: Iris by slashscribe (E, 11,948 w., 1 Ch. || Parentlock, Pining Sherlock, Post-S3) – Sherlock does his best to make John happy when John comes back to 221B with his new baby after the events of Season 3, but Sherlock has a track record of getting things wrong in this area. This story is an exploration of their gradual shift from friends to lovers, told from Sherlock's perspective, full of a lot of pining and lack of emotional awareness.
Platonic: The Green Blade by verityburns (T, 72,929 w., 15 Ch. || Case Fic, Bromance) – As a serial killer hits the headlines, the police are out of their depth and the next victim is out of time. With faith in Sherlock Holmes at an all time low, this is a case which will push loyalties to the limit...
Queer: Rupert Street by WritingOutLoud (M, 27,262 w., 9 Ch. || Alternate First Meeting || Case Fic, Sexuality, Demisexual Sherlock, Drugging, Smart John, Sherlock Has Internalized Biphobia, Fluff, Angst with Happy Ending, Gay Bar, Flirting, John Manipulates Sherlock to Eat, John Deduces, Arguments, Kidnapping/Torture, Hospitalization, John Whump) – Discharged from the war with nothing but the clothes on his back and a realisation of his bisexuality, John Watson has to learn who he’s become. He can’t afford London on an army pension, but the city is the only friend he has. In an effort to understand his newfound queer identity, he heads to a bar one night, where he stumbles across a mysterious stranger who turns his life upside down. ‘I dug around inside myself, and I'm not quite sure what I found, but it was beautiful and terrifying all at the same time.’
Quest: Licence to Kiss by fellshish (T, 13,739 w., 4 Ch. || Post-ASIB, Sort-Of Bondlock, First Kiss, Love Confessions, Mutual Pining, Angst and Humour, Bed Sharing) – Sherlock loves John, and John loves... James Bond. He only made Sherlock watch every single film. Tedious. And now John's birthday is coming up. Sherlock can't tell him how he feels, but he can organise an amazing gift: John's very own spy adventure. Sherlock begs Mycroft for a real case with some extra gadgets. And perhaps some actors pretending to be criminals. What could possibly go wrong?
Retirement: Through the Clouds by Mazarin221b (E, 20,004 w., 6 Ch. || Retirement, Sussex, Bees, Home Improvement, First Time, Romance) – Sherlock takes a remarkably early retirement at 47, and convinces John that a change of pace would do them both good. They buy an old cottage on the South Downs, and exchange their nonstop life in Baker Street for quiet contemplation, bee studies, and book writing. They might go completely insane, but sometimes it takes stepping outside of the life you're living to find the life you want. Part 1 of Through The Clouds
Road Trip: Hitting the Water at Sixty Miles an Hour by what_alchemy (E, 30,568 w., 5 Ch. || Fake Rel., Road Trips, Slow Burn, Mummy Holmes) – “You love your mother, Sherlock?” John watched the muscles in Sherlock’s jaw jump. He nodded in one sharp jerk. “Then we’re going to her party and making her happy.” John let out a resigned sigh. “As a ruddy couple, you bastard.”
Soulmates: The Heart On Your Sleeve by flawedamythyst (T, 5,441 w., 1 Ch. || Soulmate AU || Sherlock POV, Heartmarks, Pining, Fluff and Angst, Semi-S1 / S2 Canon Compliant, Reunion) – Sherlock stared at the imperfect circle on his left wrist in horror, then sat down on his bed with a bit of a thump. After over thirty years, his heartmark was finally showing activity. This was not good.
Slow Burn: Tomorrow's Song by agirlsname (M, 24,645 w., 5 Ch. || Post-TRF, POV Sherlock, Angst with a Happy Ending, Virgin / Repressed Sherlock, Love Confessions, Slow Burn, Pining, Jealous Sherlock) – How can he think a relationship with me would be a good idea? I am the sort of person to take a break from my life and when I come back after two years, I expect to find it exactly as I left it. In reality I find it shattered to pieces. (I actually equate you with my life. When did I start doing that?)
Teen AU: The Sky is Full of Fiddles by agirlsname (T, 25,659 w., 6 Ch. || 1895 Teenlock || Romantic Fluff, Bed Sharing, Swedish Folk Music, Dancing, Sherlock’s Violin, Poetry, Skinny Dipping, Summer Love, First Kiss, Proposals, POV John, Gay Surprise) – It's 1895 in the heart of Swedish folk music and dance. During certain weekends, boys are allowed to visit girls at night, wooing them with fantastical poems. If a girl lets a boy into her room they can share a bed all night, fully clothed, to talk and eat caramels together. John is seventeen and looking for a girl to marry like everyone else. He's very surprised when another boy suddenly stands outside his door, wanting to share his bed… (MFL)
Time Travel: The Engine by stitchy (T, 8,294 w., 1 Ch. || First Kiss, Post-HLV, ASiP Do-Over, Sci-Fi, Time Travel) – Shortly after the events of His Last Vow, Sherlock has an opportunity to revisit the night of A Study in Pink and get some perspective on the destiny of he and John's relationship.
Undercover: The Skin Over My Heart by standbygo (E, 8,849 w., 1 Ch. || Post-Hiatus, Fake Relationship, Case Fic, Dog Tags, Military, Homophobia, Gay Bashing, POV First Person Sherlock, Friends to Lovers, First Kiss / Time, Declarations of Love, Undercover, Haircuts, Flashbacks, Touching, Pining Sherlock, Hospitalization, Metaphors, Introspection, Hand Jobs, On the Couch, John’s Past, Angst with Happy Ending) – Sherlock and John are still trying to adjust to Sherlock's return from his hiatus when John's friend Bill Murray brings them a case. Someone is targeting the LGBTQA+ members of Bill's unit. John and Sherlock go undercover at the unit, but when they end up having to flirt to flush out the suspect, Sherlock realizes he's in over his head.
Unrequited: Love Is Series by SilentAuror (E, 36,903 w. across 2 works || Post S3, Alternating POV Each Story, Angst, Unrequited Love, Rejection then Reconciliation, Romance, Mary Divorce, Eventual Happy Ending) – At Mrs Hudson's urging, Sherlock finally decides to tell John how he feels about him.
Vampires: Bleed Me Out by antietamfalls (E, 87,987 w., 14 Ch. || Vampire AU || Bonding, Vampire Sherlock, Fluff & Angst, Hurt/Comfort, John Whump, Magical Realism) – John isn’t exactly surprised to discover that Sherlock isn't human. His vampirism doesn't pose a problem, even when their relationship gradually grows into something more. That is, until a deadly revelation about John’s blood sends their lives spinning dangerously out of control.
Villain POV: Genesis by pasiphile (M, 19,521 w., 1 Ch. || Graphic Violence, Moriarty’s Past) – Before he was Jim Moriarty, he was just Jimmy, a street kid with more pain in his past and more ambition in his head than he could handle, and only one other person he could bring himself to trust. Part 6 of This Life Is A Trip (When You're Psycho In Love) (MFL)
Whump: Trapped and Upside Down on the M6 by BootsnBlossoms (E, 4,256 w., 1 Ch. || Whump, Car Accident, Hurt / Comfort) – Everything felt wrong. His hair was going the wrong way. His arms were bent in ways he wouldn’t choose to bend them. His neck hurt and he couldn’t really feel his toes. Something was dripping on his face – and rolling up. A car crash. He had been in a car crash.
Werewolves: John Watson’s Moon by patternofdefiance (E, 11,314 w., 1 Ch. || Supernatural Creatures || Werewolf John, First Time, BAMF John, First Time, Anal, Fleeting Depictions of Violence) – Sherlock finds out John is a werewolf and wants to see the transformation. It, uh, gets really kinky.
Xenomorphism: Forest King by Elphen (E, 141,856 w., 27 Ch. || Magical Realism / Omegaverse AU || Mythical Creatures, Group Sex, Body Worship, Drinking / Impairment, Dubious Consent, Anal Fingering/Sex, Transformations / Shapeshifting, Mpreg, BAMF John, Possessive Sherlock, Celtic Mythology, Paganism, Sherlock’s Violin, Frottage, Illnesses, Caring Sherlock, Netherworld/Underworld, Coping Mechanisms, Paternal Lestrade, Defensive John, Big Brother Mycroft, Insecurity, Self-Esteem Issues, Misunderstandings, Mild Jealousy, Pregnant Sex, Male Lactation, Birthing, Emotional Support, Parenthood, Family History) – After falling out with his sister, John ends up in a Cornwall Midsummer’s Eve celebration in the middle of a forest that’s rather…different. After the hazy night of magic and passion with a pale-eyed man, he goes home to London. He’s in for a surprise when his stomach starts growing and buds appears on his head. Not one to just accept things, he returns to Cornwall to demand an explanation. When he meets the forest king, Sherlock, again, he has to come to terms with not only what’s happened to him but what kind of magical world he’s been thrust into. Plus, there’s the questions of whether he trusts the antlered man and how he'll survive being apparently pregnant. Sherlock isn’t much help. That doesn’t mean he isn’t trying to somehow make John understand his feelings, however, even if he’s greatly hampered by being Sherlock. They slowly move forward but problems beyond their control may arise from an act done with the best of intentions. How will they cope, separately and together? (MFL)
Xmas: Our Enthusiasms Which Cannot Always Be Explained by withoutawish (M, 32,961 w., 1 Ch. || Christmas, Fluff and Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Post-TRF, Case Fic, Mild Gore, Sherlock Whump) – The list that is tacked haphazardly on the refrigerator of 221B reads, ‘Kidney(s), and/or a full cadaver (preferably male, late 30s, under six feet tall), bag of fresh toes, sixteen cow’s eyes (corneas retained), dual exhaust hand –held flame thrower, an unopened first edition copy of Joseph Conrad’s 'Heart of Darkness', and no less than ten abhorrently gruesome murders in the upcoming month.” The one neatly hanging next to it simply reads, “Sex.” One of these lists is not John Watson’s. If John Watson were to put what he really wanted in list form, to live in a land somewhere beyond ‘almosts' now that Sherlock Holmes has indeed returned to him, he would never be able to look his flatmate in the eye ever again.
Zombies: The Hollow Ones by antietamfalls (M, 100,244 w., 23 Ch. || Walking Dead Fusion || Zombie Apocalypse, Angst, Slow Build, Emotional Constipation, Protective John, Hurt/Comfort) – The dead walk. Mangled corpses of the deceased rise and mindlessly feast upon the flesh of the living. John wakes up, alone and confused, into the remnants of a city gone mad. He will search for answers. He will find Sherlock at any cost. And he will learn that the living are far more dangerous than the dead. (MFL)
Zoomorphism: How to Build a Heart out of Ashes by Teumessian (E, 144,931 w., 31 Ch. || Changeling AU || Slow Burn, Drug Use, Mentions of Child Abuse / Bullying, Mentions of Student/Teacher Relations, Uni-Age) – In an AU where a small number of the population become Changelings at a young age, at 17 John Watson believes he's destined for Normal life but then the Change takes him and he is sent to the Baker Institute. There he meets Sherlock Holmes.

Fanfics I Really Liked in September 2024
So. Since I keep a list of what I´ve read anyway (there´s always a list), I will rec all the fics I´ve wholly enjoyed on a monthly basis. Old and new, canon or AU, big or small authors, long or short but nearly always Johnlock (-ish).
Clean Start by standbygo @blogstandbygo
UniLock - John meets an odd man at the laundrette who deduces people from what's in the dryer.
Delightful different first meeting.
These Hours That Define Us by predictably_unpredictable
Sherlock has just been discharged from hospital, not knowing what to expect or what he'll be coming home to. He's convinced himself that he should never see John again for John's well being, believing himself to be a hindrance to him. But when John shows up unexpectedly to 221B in the middle of the day hoping for a place to stay, things take a different turn, forcing them both to confront their past and their future.
Awesome S3 fix-it!
The night visitor by Snoozydog
John Watson, former army surgeon, employed by the secretive and indefinable government official Mycroft Holmes, accidentally saves the life of his employer's younger brother and ends up being hired as his private physician. John is immediately fascinated by his new patient but not only is Sherlock engaged to be married to someone else, but he is also a man surrounded by many dark secrets. Under the looming threat of Mycroft’s watchful eyes, as well as Sherlock’s imminent wedding there is also something else that lurks in the shadows, something that threats the budding relationship that has started to develop between the doctor and his enigmatic patient.
^^ Says it all, go read!
The winding road of secrets and lies by Snoozydog
John Watson takes on a mission to infiltrate the household of Mycroft Holmes by order of his new employer, Sebastian Moran, to access information their boss is wishing to get his hands on. To be able to get to Mycroft John will have to befriend his younger brother Sherlock and try to establish a bond with him. But what starts out as a seemingly simple job proves to be much more complicated for John as the Holmes household harbours many dark and unexpected secrets, especially about the very complicated relationship between the two brothers. Under pressure from his boss to follow through with his assignment, Mycroft suspiciously watching his every move and, to complicate matters even more, John beginning to develop feelings for Sherlock, he is beginning to regret ever taking this job. Can he complete his initial plan to steal information from Mycroft and what will happen when Sherlock finds out the truth?
^^ Says it all, go read!
The Printer Is Jammed by startrekto221b (snowandfire)
John is a disgruntled customer who just wants his money back for a shoddy printer Harry ordered for him off of a catalogue. Sherlock is a bored customer service rep working the summer he has off from Oxford. They are both about to get more than they bargained for.
Fandom classic AU different first meeting. Grumpy John and snarky Sherlock and hilarious shenanigans aróund the printer. Lots of fun.
The Printer Is Still Jammed by startrekto221b (snowandfire)
Life after happily ever after still has its pitfalls. Glimpses into the lives of Sherlock and John after they said ‘I do’.
Part 2 of the printer fun.

hear me out but. Mori’s character design is really, really good. most characters in bsd have some sort of eccentricity to them. And in creating a design for the leader of the Port Mafia, most people would go wild and make him have some unique aspect of his appearance to make him stand out. But Mori’s really Just Some Guy. I mean that in the way that he could walk by anyone on the street and no one would look twice. He’s literally just some mildly aged man.
and that’s really great character design. him being such a normal and unassuming guy makes him so much more of a threat. You’d never suspect him.
If you run into him and then try to describe him to your coworkers, what do you say? “Yeah he’s a guy of average height.. black hair… in his 40s? he was wearing a black suit with a black coat.” Well you’ve just described half the people in your city, good luck narrowing that down to your suspect.
everyone else could be easily described in one sentence and everyone would know who you’re talking about. “The guy with the bandages” “kid with white hair and a really bad haircut” “guy who dresses like he’s cosplaying Sherlock Holmes”
with Mori, the most identifiable thing he’s got is his red scarf, and he doesn’t even wear that all the time. When he’s outside of the mafia, half the time he’s cosplaying as a doctor.
not a single person in Yokohama would suspect that he’s the mafia’s boss.
you're absolutey correct anon i'm probably gonna lose like a hundred followers for saying this but i actually rly like mori and find him an intriguing and well written character. that doesn't mean i condone his actions but tbh the bsd fandom tends to concentrate on that one aspect as if literally every other character isn't problematic💀💀 its bsd guys. no one is good.
#anyway i'm like one of the twenty ppl who doesn't dislike mori. you can unfollow if that makes you uncomfy#but i won't recant#lotus’s asks

Hi ! First of all, huge fan of your project, and I really look forward to March ! What prompted your love for Sherlock Holmes, and when was it ? And was there a specific videogame that made you go "oh, hell I want to make a game too!" If so, which one was it ?
I think there are two definite phases to me liking Sherlock Holmes. The first was when I was about 11 or 12, which saw me reading some of the stories and getting up early to watch Granada Holmes reruns on satellite tv. I had a deerstalker which was enormous on me, and tried learning to play the violin, and insisted my parents take me to Baker Street so I could have my picture taken there (ok, and also because Danger Mouse lived there.)
As for *why* I liked them so much, I think it was probably the combination of feeling like grown-up books with a grown-up hero (important when you're a tween), and feeling a kinship with Holmes as a bit of an oddball like myself - but a heroic one. I think I'd been primed for it by loving Great Mouse Detective and a series of kids books called Shirley Holmes when I was younger. But it was a solitary love - I didn't know anyone else who was remotely interested in them, and eventually I moved on to other things. Specifically I think the 2005 Doctor Who revival happened, and suddenly I had a thing I loved which I could talk about with classmates!
(I'm afraid I might have to disappoint some people that I wasn't a circa 2012 BBC Sherlock fangirl - I didn't really watch it. I casually saw the first few series when they aired, and that's about it.)
In late 2021 went back to reading Sherlock Holmes and found I enjoyed them just as much as an adult, if not more with the added social and cultural context I had. Dracula Daily had just run for the first time, and I told myself that in 2023 when the Sherlock Holmes stories were public domain, I'd do a similar thing. Then Dracula Daily ran again and REALLY took off in popularity, and my little project suddenly got way more attention too, and suddenly it was like I was that 12 year old again loving Sherlock Holmes, but now I had so many friends who did too.
It's been that sense of community which has been fuelling me for the past few years. I've never really fit into traditional fandom spaces for a few reasons, but I find that I vibe with Sherlock Holmes folks!
(I am answering asks, if anyone has one!)

Time for the March Summary!

One of the oldest eggs tying with one of the youngest. It's perfect.
Sunny

Be a monster at PaintBall
Hyperfixate on Splatoon

Oh hey, it's the first time Empanada's gone a full month without winning a poll about sweets!
Chunsik
Finally, our youngest has won a poll! With 1/62 polls won, Chunsik has been voted most likely to:
Be exempt from a Federation experiment because he politely declines it
What a polite kid!

THEYRE HITTING ME WITH THE FEELS THIS EPISODE WHAT THE FUCK WHAT THE FUCKKK???
i don't think sherlock and watson have ever had a full on heart to heart with one another. theres a part i didn't include where john was talking about his last night with his father and sherlock was laughing along but it wasn't a genuine laugh it was forced i think. not in a bad or rude way but in the way that showed how sherlock was trying to connect with watson and the moment watson was sharing. he was laughing because watson was laughing and he wanted to make him feel more open and comfortable when telling such a vulnerable and upsetting story. people really underestimate sherlock when it comes to human emotions because he's not stupid, he understands the pain, anger, happiness, disappointment and anything else that comes with recollecting memories, he shows it in his story just after. he knows watson and he knows what watson needed in that moment so that he could continue his story without breaking down. gahhh and then sherlock tells his story and john responds with the same energy but its more professional, because john is a doctor and he understands the human brain so much more, he shows that when dealing with victor trevor's panic attacks. john cuts in at the right times with the right words and he stops sherlock's self-depreciating emotions as soon as he sees them. but its all the same, they are sharing the most vulnerable parts of themselves with one another and their doing it in the way that shows the other they care and that their stories are just as important as the other's.
sherlock's struggle with dissociation here gets me too. at least im PRETTY sure its dissociation, its very relatable to us.
the way he talks about memory makes perfect sense. memory, naturally, is a unreliable thing, the human brain constantly makes changes to each memory. every single memory you have varies from the truth and sherlock struggles with this because he lives on truths. everything he does is based on facts, things he can see, feel and hear and when being faced with a memory, something that is constantly shifting, the truth out of reach forever, its unsettling for him and that makes perfect sense.
thats not even the dissociation part, sherlock talks about not being able to grasp him and him from his memories and thoughts, to me thats a form of dissociation. he struggles to differentiate who's who, between him and his memories of him and he speaks on how that confuses and upsets him. watson deals with it really well by saying who sherlock is on a grand level (like "you're sherlock holmes, consulting detective" its very good when trying to ground somebody with reality) by the way i liked that. i also find it so fascinating when sherlock says he used victor's memory when remembering the incident with the principle, this is something very common in traumatized people as its easier. when faced with a traumatic memory the brain, again, naturally tries to cover it up, its the brain's way of keeping the body out of danger. a painful memory is a dangerous one. so when theres someone who has gone through the incident on a easier level, its only natural the brain takes that as its own memory. for any other person, they wouldn't have known the difference, the brain is IMMACULATE at covering things up when it wants to. its only sherlock that is able to re-deduce what has happened, which leads him to remembering the traumatizing event once again. of course thats painful for him:( its upsetting to me when he says he's "lied" about it, as if he's in full control of his brain because he isn't. it was not a voluntary decision to remember that event with someone else's version of it, thats just how the brain works. sherlock is very quick to blame himself for that, for what happened with the principal and now for simply solving the case. he genuinely blames himself for figuring out the truth and having to "ruin the mans career"
GOD GODDD HE MAKES ME SICK!!!! sh&co!sherlock is my everything and i genuinely adore him. sorry if the rant was scatterbrained and made zero sense it is 1am and i've been binging this podcast for hours. god i just loved their heart to heart, i love how much love and trust they've allowed each other to show to one another and i love how easy it comes to them:(

May Prompts (15) Nightmare

The Luckiest Girl in the World (chapter 15)
Summary: Rosie tells us about her family's sanctuary that is 221B, but also about wars over board games. In the end, it's the story about someone else who also needs a safe haven.
Fifteen Years Old
I felt oddly protective of our home from an early age, and I didn’t want it invaded by my friends. Not that I was ashamed of all the bric-a-brac, Papa’s experiments, or how different it was to other homes I’d visited. It was just...our space, a safe haven where we all could lower our guards, Papa in particular. Over the years, his fame had increased exceedingly, and his derisive façade kept journalists and fans at bay. The moment he entered 221B, he discarded said façade by hanging his coat on the peg.
Another thing to consider, were the battles that always ensued whenever one of us challenged the others to a board game. Having an outsider witnessing that…well, we’d surely be sectioned for life if that were to occur.
(More likely, the person would be granted vicious dreams for eternity.)
But as Papa points out; there’s always something. In this context, someone. My friend Liwia. Her parents were Polish, and moved to England two years before Liwia was born. They were Catholics, and having to adjust to a society that was more liberal toward queer people than Poland, took its time. When Liwia came out to them as a lesbian the year prior, they’d tried to pin it on her friendship with me. I was after all related to quite a few of the sort and Liwia’s parents seemed to believe the ludicrous lie that queerness was contagious.
It took them some months to get over it, but once they realised that Liwia still was her normal self, they discarded the original idea of sending her to Poland to live with her strictly religious grandparents. Neither of the Barczykowskis was prepared when said grandparents announced that they were visiting London that summer, staying for at least a fortnight.
***
Dad and I were in the middle of a Scrabble war, when Papa came home. Not that we realised it at the time. We were too engrossed in arguing.
“It’s bloody unfair to use all the medical terms and diseases you can come up with to win, you know!” I exclaimed accusatory.
“Oh, come now, Rosebud,” Dad teased, looking as pleased as the cat that ate the canary.
“Don’t you dare Rosebud me,” I said through clenched teeth.
Dad only used that pet name when we were at war over the board games, and it rubbed me up the wrong way.
“Children,” Papa chastised, barely able to suppress his glee.
“You’re home,” we said in unison.
I waited for the inevitable eyeroll and his obviously, but none came.
“We have a guest,” Papa said and waved a hand, and that’s when I saw Liwia standing by the sofa wringing her hands, a look of despair in her eyes.
I leapt to my feet and walked over to hug her tight.
“What’s wrong?” I whispered into her hair.
She explained about her grandparents, and with just one look over at Papa, receiving a nod, I turned back to assure my friend that she could stay at Baker Street for as long as she needed, if her biased grandparents started to make her life a living nightmare.
“Thank you, Mr. Holmes and Doctor Watson,” Liwia said politely.
I could literally see the relief wash over her, the tension in her shoulders dissipating and a tiny smile forming on her lips.
“Please, call us John and Sherlock,” Dad said.
Then he turned his attention to me with a devilish grin.
“Does this mean you declare defeat, Rosebud?”
“You wish!” I snarled and left Liwia’s side to go into battle with my father.
(Before you go all bananas on me - this will continue tomorrow...)

A Scandal at Baker Street,
An ACD Sherlock fanfiction oneshot based on "A Scandal in Bohemia".
"He could not help but bear the impression that the pair held a deeper meaning behind the gazes and touches they'd shared so earnestly. Looking out the window and to the repetitive London landscape, he decided not to venture further into his poderings; he certainly did not wish to murk the image he had of the detective — nor the doctor’s — with such assumptions. Soot and ash from the city filled his nose as he let sleep take over his mind; now, he could only hope."
Full piece under the cut!
He was nervous. He should not be, but when your whole reputation (and relationship, though the latter concerned him far less) depends on this, it may be understandable to fret a little. So yes, he was anxious as he brought his hands to adjust the mask that covered the upper half of his face — a measure he took to protect himself; today he would be Count Von Kramm, nevertheless.
A plaque, in which was written “Baker Street, 221B”, came into his vision just before the brougham came to a halt. The modest brick facade was unassuming, though the name it bore was whispered in both awe and reverence across the continent. From what he was told, this apartment block — quite underwhelming, if he was to be truthful — was home to a brilliant, energetic man, one that would have (or find) the answer to any enigma given in a manner no one else could compare to. He hopes that’s true, for he had come from a long way, Germany, just for this.
“Come in!” A voice clamored from inside the door when he knocked it. A sweet old lady had escorted him inside the block. Once again, supposed Von Kramm adjusts the black mask, pushing its tails to tighten the hold — it was rather loose and annoying.
Upon opening the door, he was met not by the lone figure he had anticipated, but by two men: one standing tall and lanky, dark hair messy and looking quite in need of a trim; and the other, on a heavier build, in a much more neat fashion, sat and with a notebook in his hands. That defied his former expectations — the matter was of the most private sense, not meant to be shared to noone more than the detective. Both of them looked at him, expectantly.
“You had my note?” He didn’t really know which one was supposed to be Sherlock Holmes. Both of them seemed to feel at home. “I told you that I would call.”
“Pray take a seat. This is my good friend and colleague, Dr. Watson, who is occasionally good enough to help me in my cases,” the fair-haired gentleman brightened up to that, giving a lighthearted chuckle. “Whom have I the honor to address?” Funny, he thought, that he kind of expected to be the detective, the more preen one.
“You may address me as the Count Von Kramm, a Bohemian nobleman. I understand that this gentleman, your friend, is a man of honor and discretion, whom I may trust with a matter of the most extreme importance. If not, I should much prefer to communicate with you alone.” He would not let himself be vulnerable.
At that, Dr. Watson made it as if to stand up, but was quickly caught by the wrist by Mr. Holmes’ own hand. Although initially he looked a bit distraught, the doctor quickly looked at the other with… something tender in his eyes. With gentle yet firm pressure, the tall man guided his companion back into his seat, their proximity leaving Von Kramm distinctly uncomfortable.
It was a quiet exchange, nothing more than a fleeting gesture between the two men, but it left him unsettled, as though he had intruded upon a private understanding, one far deeper than he could comprehend. In their shared glance, he felt not merely a lack of privacy, but an absence of control. Like he shouldn't be there.
Mr. Holmes didn’t move, leaning towards and looking directly at the doctor, both his hands firmly keeping the wrists of the fair-haired gentleman on the armrest. “It is both, or none,” the consulting detective said, low and slowly. Not looking at Von Kramm, as he should, but at Dr. Watson, still — much like the words were directed to the latter, not the former.
With a swift movement, the detective was upright again. Dr. Watson shifted in his seat, tangling his legs so they were crossed — the notebook, long ago forgotten on his lap, was at his hands again. “You may say before this gentleman anything which you may say to me,” Mr. Holmes affirmed, as if he hadn't just done the strangest thing.
He shrugged his shoulders, “Then I must begin,” he started, “by binding you both to absolute secrecy for two years; at the end of that time the matter will be of no importance.” After this display, he's not sure it's possible to separate the pair, even though it would be far more preferable to deal with the detective alone.
“I promise.”
“And I,” Dr. Watson complied.
Once again, it felt much like the words weren't meant to him, but to one another.
The doctor scribbled something on the small notebook of his and, as Von Kramm made to look at it discreetly, the fair-haired gentleman slightly covered the paper.
“You will excuse this mask,” he tried to ignore the pair’s mannerisms and the implications that came through his mind. “The august person who employs me wishes his agent to be unknown to you, and I may confess at once that the title by which I have just called myself is not exactly my own.”
When he told mr. Holmes whom the detective had the honour of working for, he was met with the utmost disdain, raising annoyance upon himself. The man had dared to close his eyes and relax in the nearest armchair, striking a most dramatic pose. Dr. Watson stared at him out of the corner of his eye. “I was aware of it,” the detective said, and then, “I was also aware of that,” when Von Kramm tried to emphasize the absolute import of the ordeal.
Should this man be the best detective of Europe whole, he didn't wish to see what would be of the lesser ones. Von Kramm looked over to the fair-haired gentleman to express his indignation; he only had attention for the detective, however, legs still crossed. Upon studying Dr. Watson's expression for a second, the look he saw in his eyes was one of badly-contained longing. Von Kramm, then, avoided looking at the doctor again.
“If your Majesty would condescend to state your case,” the consulting detective remarked, “I should be better able to advise you,” as he slowly reopened his eyes, a look of impatience stamped on his arched eyebrows. Much like he was bored out of his mind; this man was getting onto his frail nerves.
Then, what mr. Sherlock had just said dawned on Von Kramm, drawing out a sharp inhale out of himself. He sprang up from his chair. It would do nothing now, to pretend his identity. This man knew it!
In a fit of rage, he — the King of Bohemia, had now been caught — tore off the mask that had irritated his face for the whole day, tossing it upon the floor. “You are right,” he raised his voice, “I am the King. Why should I attempt to conceal it?” The doctor appeared to be surprised too. And never did he seem to stop writing words in that notebook of his. “Why, indeed?” Mr. Holmes murmured, as if the king wasn't ready to yell and shout.
Forcing his temper to subside, the king proceeded to tell his story. Mr. Holmes listened in a calm manner, making the effort of opening his grey eyes every so often, only to remark something to Dr. Watson with a quiet smile on his lips and close them again. To that, the fair-haired gentleman always nodded in contempt or flatter the man's deduction abilities. Their dynamic seemed stable, comfortable. For the whole ordeal, the detective constantly yawned and feigned disinterest; but everytime the king convinced himself that the man wasn't listening, he was surprised with the clever wit of an observation that couldn't be made out of disattention.
Somehow, the king had grown quite accustomed to the way mr. Holmes worked. After they had discussed the money involved — Dr. Watson's face, when the detective opened the chamois bag full of gold he'd received, had been absolutely remarkable — he was quickly escorted down the stairs and out the door by both of them. The mask was almost forgotten, but the doctor gave it back to him at the last minute.
“Then, goodnight, your Majesty, and I trust that we shall soon have some good news for you.” Mr. Holmes said as he opened the door. The brougham stood patiently for him at the side of the road, as it should; the king entered it as agile as he could, not to raise any opinions from the passersby.
“And we must have a good night, Watson,” was the last thing he heard from the pair. As for sight, mr. Holmes’ lips appeared to form a small smile as he looked dr. Watson from head to toe, whose hands went somewhere near the detective's waist as the door was closed shut.
He could not help but bear the impression that the pair held a deeper meaning behind the gazes and touches they'd shared so earnestly. Looking out the window and to the repetitive London landscape, he decided not to venture further into his poderings; he certainly did not wish to murk the image he had of the detective — nor the doctor’s — with such assumptions. Soot and ash from the city filled his nose as he let sleep take over his mind; now, he could only hope.

after AGES, i‘ve finally gotten back into writing *yayyy*
this is a sequel to the oneshot Serenity After the Turmoil by @lisbeth-kk (go read it!!! It‘s such a lovely idea) aaaand yeah :) it would mean the world to me if you checked it out!! (also, hope you like it 🙉)
Serenity After the Turmoil (part 2)
Even though the living room light was dimmed, John had to squint his eyes as he walked towards the door, which revealed what lay behind it with a small gap. Luckily, he'd oiled the door pins a few weeks ago, because it would have been really unfortunate if its loud squeak had interrupted the gentle melody Sherlock was playing.
John carefully opened the door a little further and then stopped. Sherlock was standing in his usual place when he played the violin, with his back turned to him. John had often wondered why he always played in front of the window - if people saw him showing off his double chin, he wouldn't be able to concentrate on any notes. Not that he could read sheet music - he was about as musically gifted as a whining dog. And double chins weren't a bad thing - actually, most people had them. Except Sherlock. He didn't have a double chin, as John knew, even though he couldn't see his face right now. And his musical talents more than surpassed his own. His blue dressing gown swayed gently with the soft movements he made as he played, seemingly absorbed in the music. Until he suddenly stopped moving, put the bow between his teeth (or at least that's what it looked like from behind) and pulled a pencil out of his pocket with his free hand and scribbled something on the sheet of paper on the music stand.
"You don't have to stand so stiffly in the doorway, John."
Of course Sherlock had noticed that John had come. What else.
John cleared his throat, ignoring the warmth slowly rising up the back of his neck.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you," he said, taking a few awkward steps into the living room.
Sherlock just shrugged and mumbled something unintelligible before slipping the pen back into his coat pocket and turning round. His dark curls looked a little more messy than normal, indicating that he had been in bed, but his eyes were wide awake.
"Did I wake you?" John asked, guilt creeping up inside him. Maybe he should just get some sleeping pills. Or wait, he was a doctor himself. Maybe he should just prescribe-
"No, I couldn't sleep either," Sherlock replied, shaking his head. "And then I heard you...", he seemed to search for the right word for a moment, "...making noises from your room that didn't sound like you were having a good dream."
John lowered his eyes, unable to stop the heat from rising in his cheeks, but Sherlock didn't seem to mind the obvious reference to sex dreams.
"Since it calmed you down the last time I played the violin, I figured I might as well use a sleepless night to do it again," he continued unaffected, shrugging again.
John had now raised his gaze again and didn't know what to say for a moment. So Sherlock had actually heard him and played the violin for him. To calm him down. Wow.
"I, um..." John put a hand on the back of his neck and cleared his throat again. "Thank you," he then said. "What you played was really nice. Did you write that?"
Suddenly it was Sherlock who seemed a little uncomfortable in his own skin, because he lowered his eyes and placed his violin and bow beneath his armchair.
"Yes. In a way," he then said. "It's inspired by…someone."
"Someone?" John asked in surprise, raising his eyebrows. "Are you going out with someone?"

A Study of the Heart and Brain (Book 4) Epilogue
Father Figure! Sherlock Holmes x Teen! Reader
Epilogue: Brave Heart and Clever Brain
Summary: It's time for the rest of (Y/N)'s life to begin.
Mouse Note: And it's a wrap for A Study of the Heart and Brain. Wow. I can't believe so many years of this story have already gone by! Purple, Sherlock, and John have been so close to my heart for so long that it's sad to say goodbye, but I'm happy to say that they have happy lives in front of them. Thank you so much for all the support you've given to me over the years! I'll miss you all and hope to see you back for future projects! Thank you! This has been an amazing experience!
“John’s calling,” said (Y/N) as they put a new skull on the mantle of the rebuilt 221B. It had taken time and effort (and money they blackmailed Mycroft into getting), but the flat was back. Their home was back.
“I hate answering calls,” said Sherlock.
“I’m going to answer it,” said (Y/N). They pressed the accept button. “Hello, John.”
“Sherlock, (Y/N),” said John. “I think you better get round here.”
Sherlock and (Y/N) exchanged a look.
l
John held the disc that read “MISS YOU” on the top. Solemnly, he put it into the DVD player, and the TV turned on.
Mary’s face greeted them once more. She smiled. “P.S,” she said.
It was the next part of her original message. Sherlock, John, and (Y/N) leaned forward.
“I know you three,” said Mary. “And if I’m gone, I know what you could become. Because I know who you really are. A junkie who solves crimes to get high. The doctor who never came home from the war. And the teenager who is too smart for their own good. Will you listen to me? Who you really are, it doesn’t matter. It’s all about the legend, the stories, the adventures. There is a last refuge for the desperate, the unloved, the persecuted. There is a final court of appeal for everyone. When life gets too strange, too impossible, too frightening, there is always one last hope. When all else fails, there are three people sitting, arguing in a scruffy flat, like they’ve always been there and they always will. The best and wisest people I have ever known, my Baker Street family, Sherlock Holmes, (Y/N) Holmes, and Dr. Watson.”
(Y/N) smiled.
l
“Congratulations!” cheered Lestrade, Mrs. Hudson, and John. Rosie babbled in John’s arms. Mycroft lifted his drink but didn’t cheer.
(Y/N) grinned and proudly held up the signed adoption papers. They had already been part of the Holmes family for years, but this just made it even more official.
“That’s my kid!” said Sherlock, smiling ear-to-ear.
He hugged (Y/N) tightly, and they hugged him back. Their home was whole once more. 221B was rebuilt. John was back. Even Eurus had started to smile when playing, and Mr. and Mrs. Holmes had gotten to hear her play with Sherlock and (Y/N).
They were going to be okay. They were okay. The Holmes family was together.
A knock at the door. (Y/N) turned to it.
“No one else was invited,” said John, frowning.
“I’ll send off the client,” huffed Mrs. Hudson.
“No, no, it’s a guest,” said Sherlock.
“Who?” (Y/N) tilted their head.
“I invited them to dinner.” Sherlock smiled.
(Y/N)’s eyes widened, and they moved to the door in a moment.
“Who—” John watched (Y/N) throw the door open.
“Good evening, everyone.” Irene Adler smiled, dressed in purple dress and heels.
“Irene,” said (Y/N), smiling.
“Oh, god,” groaned Mycroft.
“You texted her back, said John, grinning at Sherlock.
“For (Y/N),” said Sherlock.
John shook his head fondly.
“Thanks for coming,” said (Y/N) as they walked to the living room with Irene.
“Of course,” said Irene. She looked at them. “Are you doing alright? I heard about what happened. I thought the call was strange.”
Mycroft sighed, knowing one of his men had been compromised and told her everything, but (Y/N) was just happy.
“I’m doing fine,” said (Y/N).
Irene patted their cheek. “Good.” She leaned in briefly. “And I meant every word.”
(Y/N) ducked their head. “I did, too.”
Irene smiled at them. “I’m glad.” She turned towards the table. “How is everyone feeling?” She looked at Mycroft and smirked. “I’ve heard your position as the ‘clever one’ of the family has been usurped.”
“It has not,” said Mycroft indignantly.
“I’m smarter than you,” said (Y/N), looking at him and smirking. “I’m the smartest Holmes.”
“I agree with them,” said Sherlock.
Mycroft rolled his eyes and looked at Irene. “You are quite daring to return here.”
“Am I?” remarked Irene innocently, sitting down.
(Y/N) watched their family begin to interact with one another and smiled. They looked at Sherlock. “You actually invited her.”
“Your whole family is here,” said Sherlock, smiling at them.
(Y/N) hugged him. “Thank you, Dad. Thank you so much. For finding me, for teaching me, for loving me.”
Sherlock hugged him back. “I’d do it a thousand times. I love you, (Y/N).”
“I love you, too, Dad,” said (Y/N). They had everything they needed. Love, family, a brave heart, and a clever brain. They had everything they ever wanted.
l
Years later…
“You be good for Mrs. Hudson, alright?” John looked at a now toddler Rosie with a smile.
Rosie nodded. “Uh-huh.”
“And if Sherlock told you to see what would happen if you do…anything…don’t do it,” said John.
Rosie just smiled, and John groaned. Unfortunately, he couldn’t help looking at her fondly.
“(Y/N), you ready?” said Sherlock.
An adult (Y/N) nodded as they entered the room. They pulled on a long purple coat. “Of course.” They smirked. “I’m always ready. After all…” They tossed Sherlock’s deerstalker to him. “The game is on.”
