I think every moment is eternal in its own right and we hold no authority to deny it that status. Even if it is a forever that will escape our memories, it’ll still exist as a forever in the history of time. In the memories of no-one but the Earth itself. In the records kept and made by no-one, where everything is stored for all time to come. No love is lost and no existence truly unacknowledged.
#even the moment that one may spare to read this post; it’ll be a second dedicated forever in the records of time just to this simple post.#fleeting moments of attention and acknowledgement that aren’t so fleeting at all because they still existed and still do in a way.#it is tragic that we must associate a certain event to a date for it to become a joyous occasion. there’ll never be another 1/5/24.#is that not enough for it to be special itself?#one may argue that they have nothing to remember random days by and that is true.#but not every moment of delight and pleasure is to be remembered I think. to be entirely honest with you I barely hold any memory of#literally anything prior to 2022 perhaps.#but that doesn’t mean that those moments didn’t exist or don’t hold their own importance.#because even if I don’t remember and even if any other parties don’t remember. those moments still exist forever in history in a way.#And even if we don’t remember. The Ultimate Guide to Backpacking Nepal On A Budget: Backpacking Itinerary
Backpacking through Nepal is something different then you will ever experience. Trekking is by far the most popular activity in Nepal and this is the reason why every year thousands of tourist enter Nepal during the high seasons. There are countless number of treks that Nepal has to offer according to your need, time or budget. Nepal is especially known from the mighty Mount Everest, and a lot of people travel from all over the world to capture a glimpse of the world’s tallest peak. However, Everest Base Camp trekking is just a small fraction of beautiful paradise that Nepal is. The country has lot more to offer whether it be high Himalayas, beautiful monasteries or diverse culture that reside under a single roof. You aIso have the option of taking helicopter rides to Everest via Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour if you want to see the Mt Everest but don’t have that kind of time and dedication. You will find most unique teahouses, and friendly locals you will come across anywhere on the planet. I loved visiting Nepal and I loved learning about culture and language. Whether you’re exploring the country in your 20s or later in life, you’ll want to make the most of this incredible once in a lifetime adventure.
The itinerary that I have listed out below is designed approximately for five to six weeks but you can easily cut out some destinations that don’t interest you or extending your time in places you most want to see.
Set a Budget for Yourself
First things first, a lot of my budget went to pre-trip necessities such as trekking gears since hiking is the main reasons you are visiting Nepal. You’re going to want excellent footwear and hiking boots if you are planning on waking 6 to 7 hours a day and dressing conservatively is the best option to avoid unwanted attention.
Before leaving for my first stop in Kathmandu which is the capital city of Nepal, I did a lot of research — lots of it — because that’s how you bring costs down. I planned my lodging, transportation, food, museum tickets, everything for a day and decided to stick to my day’s budget. It’s not too early to think about where you want to go and start planning earlier. I even spent less than I thought I would.
The Best of Backpacking Nepal Routes
1. Explore Kathmandu Valley: You wouldn’t want to miss out on Sightseeing in Kathmandu valley. There are many beautiful old cities to explore in the valley with ancient temples and Durbar squares before you start trekking in Nepal. I visited the Swayambhunath Stupa. This Temple is also known as Monkey Temple which is considered to be self-made Stupa. Then my next visit was Kathmandu Durbar Square where there was Goddess Kumari then living goddess and number of temples. Then we went on to Patan Durbar Square where we can observe mediaeval architecture along with live history and culture. I also got to see all those monuments represent medieval, history, culture and architecture. Must say Kathmandu valley is really rich in its culture and heritage. Apart from this I got to explore Thamel the most popular destination for tourists visiting Nepal, a place most backpackers make a beeline for, the moment they land in Kathmandu and I must say it is the most happening place in Kathmandu with all the hotels, restaurants, clubs and bars.
2. Explore Pokhara, Track Rhinos at Chitwan National Park and Sightseeing at Lumbini the birthplace of Gautam Buddha: Pokhara is one of the main tourist destination of the country. Surrounded by two of the highest mountain in the world Mt. Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, the Pokhara city, is also the gateway to the most beautiful multi days trekking trail in the world.
The next step is Jungle Safari in Chitwan, my absolute favorite part of our Kathmandu Pokhara Chitwan Tour. This national park is an excellent place for jungle activities like Elephant safari, Bird watching, Canoeing etc. You might also be interested in visiting the elephant breeding center there. In the evening, you can enjoy the delicious cuisine at your resort along with the cultural dance program performed by the Tharu community of this place.
We visited Lumbini where Lord Buddha was born, we strolled through parks where he spent his childhood, walked through the upscale neighborhood exploring the place and surrounding places, took many photos of famous sites. Lumbini is popular for Buddhist and Hindu pilgrimage travelers.
3. Trek around Annapurna Region: For many people who come to experience the incredible mountains of the Himalayas, Annapurna Himalayas is their favorite region to trek among all the trekking places that Nepal encapsulates. This demanding trek consists of some of Nepal’s finest mountains. Located west of Kathmandu, this range contains some of the finest scenery in all of Nepal. With Annapurna I rising to a height of 8,061 meters, it is the 10th highest mountain in the world. This region is home to some incredible treks, like the Annapurna Circuit, Annapurna Base Camp trek and Poon Hill, you will have tonnes of opportunities for hiking adventures. We encountered many rivers and lakes along the way so you might as well pack some fishing gears if you’re interested in those stuff. The key attractions of this region are the insight to archaic Gurung as well as Thakali settlement, astounding landscapes, soaring climatic mountains and lush marshland alongside encounter of exclusive wildlife.
4. Upper Mustang Trek: The Mustang trek has been on my bucket list ever since I arrived in Nepal. This beautiful place is full of mysterious and enchanting landscapes. I’m fascinated by the deeply-rooted Tibetan culture and practice of Buddhism in this region. I came to know that it is the last forbidden Kingdom, which is situated in the isolated Himalaya desert behind the stunning mountains Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. A hidden paradise, Upper Mustang is fused with mystique valleys, beautiful trans-Himalaya landscapes, ancients Tibetan Buddhist shrines, prayers walls, stupas, century old monasteries and many more. The trek to Upper Mustang is possibly the most unique of all treks in Nepal due to its harsh landscapes, dry, bare mountains with a covering of fresh snow on the top.
5. Everest Region Trek: Everest region Trek in Nepal is the enthralling legendary walking route. Mount Everest is one of the most amazing natural sites you can see anywhere in the world, this almighty mountain lie in the Everest region. Walking all the way of trekking routes is long duration and needs physically fitness. So, helicopter ride to Everest is the best option to be at the high elevation in short period of time and enjoy the view of Mt Everest in no time. Every year thousands of trekkers trek on this trail and access to Everest’s basecamp is becoming a whole lot easier, which now attracts more people than ever. No matter which trail you follow though, you will soon be immersed in the austere beauty of this awe inspiring trekking region. It’s an incredible experience, a top highlight of my life. I think it’s a lifetime of global adventures.
6. Helicopter Rides: Almost everyone has that desire to conquer awesome vistas of snow-capped mountain, and panoramic landscapes. Thus, Helicopter tour is designed for travelers with tight schedules, who has no time for long 20 days trek but still can enjoy one of the best travel destinations in the world.
Everest Base Camp Heli tour starts from Kathmandu, flying east from Kathmandu towards the beautiful Sherpa village. With the helicopter facilities to the Everest region, you’ll get to have the coolest trip that you can imagine and this is specially for the ones who due to some reasons cannot go to Everest base camp via trekking but you still want to explore the Himalayas then Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour is the best way of exploring the world's highest peak.

Feelings
Plot: After a few months of just being friends, Jaehyun decides to take your friendship with him to the next level… if you’ll let him.
Characters: You (OC) and Jaehyun Genre: Fluff, pure fluff Word Count: 1.5k A/N: A non-Monsta X fic dedicated to my friend @sapphirebluejae and her love for NCT’s Jaehyun and 127′s song Touch! I hope you like this fic love, I made him very flirty for you~
Credits to the gif owner!
The sky was filled with stars, twinkling brilliantly over the large city of Seoul. The Han River practically glittered in the starlight, the world slowly moving as couples came and went along the waterside.
The weather had been pretty crummy but there wasn’t a cloud in sight and for that, Jaehyun was grateful. His gaze was soft and serene, his smile ever-present as he turned to look at you.
You caught his gaze and tilted your head. “Jae, what’s on your mind? Are you feeling okay?” You placed your hand on his forehead, worried. You were having a picnic by the water with him and although the food was delicious, Jaehyun had been strangely quiet the entire time.
He smiled and placed his hand over yours, lacing your fingers together with his. “I’m okay. I was just thinking about something.”
“What were you thinking about? Nothing dirty, I hope.” You grinned, raising a playful eyebrow at him as he gave you a bright grin.
“Nothing like that. I’m a pure soul.” Jaehyun pretended to bow his head as his dimple poked from his cheek.
“Whatever you say.” You rolled your eyes with a fake gag and pushed his arm gently. “Tell me what’s on your mind, Saint Jae.”
His gaze grew tender as he poked your nose with his fingertip. “Tell me. How many dates have we been on since we met?” His voice was curious, light and gentle on your ear.
The question threw you off guard. Rubbing your neck and avoiding his eyes, you shyly mumbled. “We’ve known each other for about 3 months. So… around 5 or 6 dates.”
“You make it sound like we’ve committed a crime, having so many dates together.” Jaehyun laughed, nuzzling his nose against your neck in content. “That means I must be doing something right.”
“You’re not that unbearable to be with.” You pushed his head away with a smile, a smile that never seemed to fade whenever you were with him. “You’re a pretty good chef and you always pick out the best places to hang out.”
“I’m flattered that the hospitality major is content with my services.” He placed his hands over his heart with a goofy grin and an exasperated sigh.
The two of you had met in your local community college. You were hospitality major while Jaehyun was a performing-arts major. The two of you had met in the library one day, accidently bumping into one another while trying to grab the same book. It sounds cliché, but Jaehyun immediately tried to ask you out and you humbly declined. After a week, he decided to take you on friendly outings and you both became good friends.
He had huge aspirations to be an actor in Hollywood so he was always studying acting techniques, posing and expressions whenever he could. You always thought he had his head in the clouds, but learned that the two of you were more similar than expected and clicked easily.
You were always doing your best in hopes of working as a travel guide, or even owning your own hotel one day. You loved to give people the best customer experience and making them happy, even if it’s for a short duration. Plus, you had a dream of traveling the world, so the job itself would allow you to find happiness as well.
“You’re truly an interesting man, performing arts major.” You tugged at his ears gently, earning a small pout in return. “You could have anyone in this school’s campus and yet you want me. Do you just have a thing for nerdy girls?”
Jaehyun looked at you for a moment, brushing his fingertips along your cheek. You closed your eyes and nuzzled to his touch before he pulled away. You looked down and found him moving to lay down, resting his head on your stomach in a way that made your heart skip.
“That’s such an odd question. I’m not the kind of guy to waste my time doing things I don’t want do. I genuinely like being with you, no matter status or rep. You know that.” Jaehyun’s eyes were open and honest, despite the flash of hurt that flashed across his irises.
“I’m not trying to offend you or anything.” You quickly apologized, rubbing your neck as you avoided his eyes to gather your thoughts. “It’s just… I’m not the most feminine girl. I like to wear jeans and t-shirts with beanies and chucks. And I’m hardly ever cute or affectionate, don’t guys like that? I mean, I just… I don’t know.”
You fell silent, slowly bringing your eyes to his. You took a deep breath and searched his eyes before whispering, “Why me?”
His expression finally melted into a fond one, his eyes playful as he poked your nose. “I think the real question is, ‘why not you’?”
Your heart began to race in your chest, a feeling that wasn’t uncommon around Jaehyun. “W-What do you mean?”
“In case you didn’t notice, I’m not like other guys.” He smiled, his lips curled in a familiar way that brought a similar smile to your own lips. “I don’t like following trends, I’m an easy-going guy who prefers to just live life while I have it. I want to have fun, follow my dreams, maybe be an amazing actor one day. And I want you.”
You looked down at your hands before pursing your lips in a pout. “You make it sound so easy…” You muttered under your breath.
“It’s not complicated.” Jaehyun countered with a chuckle. He tilted his head, his eyes roaming your every feature before stopping at your lips. Then, he slowly brought his eyes to yours.
“I want you.” He whispered. “I want to be with you. Every date we go on has me thinking of you to the point where I think about you everywhere I go. I’ll pass by pastry shops and wonder ‘will she like this’, or walk by a Vans store and contemplate buying you every pair of blue slip-ons and platforms because I know how much you love the styles. You literally drive me crazy in the best way and I don’t want to stop feeling the way you make me feel.”
You were silent for a moment. Then, a sniffle. Following that, a hiccup.
Jaehyun’s eyes widened. “A-Are you crying? I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to offend you!” He quickly grabbed a napkin and started to dab at your eyes, his face filled with worry.
You slowly placed your hand over his to stop his movements. You let out a soft laugh as you rubbed at your eyes with your sleeves. “You’re truly something else.”
“Why?” Jaehyun asked, trying to move your hands so he could go back to cleaning your face.
Once again, you stopped him, meeting his eyes with a small smile. “You would be the kind of guy that would wipe someone else’s tears while you confess. You’re one of a kind, Jaehyun. It’s one of the many reasons I…”
“One of the reasons, you?” Jaehyun asked softly, not trusting his voice.
You bit your lip and hit his arm with a whine. “How am I supposed to confess to you after what you just said? You set the bar too high and I’m gonna be subpar! My confession is all basic nonpoetic in comparison!”
Jaehyun usually would’ve had a snarky comment to reply with, but he was silent for aa moment as his eyes grew wide. “Confession? Does that mean that you like me too?”
You puffed your cheeks as heat spread to your ears and to your chest. “Of course I do! You make me feel normal, you don’t try to change me yet you make me feel so special. Everywhere we go together becomes more special to me, because I’m with you. I… honestly can’t remember the times before I met you, or when I was comfortable without you by my side. You’re everything to me.”
A gentle silence filled the air around the two of you as people passed by. They were in their own worlds on their own dates, while you and Jaehyun’s worlds were slowly molding into one as he placed his hand over yours.
“With confessions like ours, we’ll go down in history one day as the cheesiest couple.” Jaehyun finally said, attempting to steady his heartbeat roaring in his ears.
You cracked a smile and laced your fingers with his, safe and secure. “As long as you get to play yourself in the live-action version of the tale.”
“Only if you’ll direct it, or maybe play the damsel in distress?” He teased as he leaned in close.
You met him halfway and nuzzled your nose against his. “I’m no one’s damsel in distress. But if you touch your lips with mine, I’ll make every chase worth it.”
“Cute. You’re my finish line and dream come true. But I’ll chase you every day if I have to, just to see you smile.” He whispered.
And the kiss you shared that night, under the stars, was truly the sweetest. Or perhaps, it was the kiss after that. You and him shared many from that day onward, your hand never leaving his. It seems like dreams really do come true, don’t they?
A/N: I hope you all enjoyed! My blog is mainly MX, but let me know if you have any requests from NCT or a few other groups!

Every Record I Own - Day 287: Daughters Hell Songs
Very few “heavy” bands truly live up to the misanthropy they project through their music. But Daughters were different. Over the course of a U.S. tour together, I got to know the guys in the band pretty well, and they were a rare instance where their personalities were as fucked up as their music. Don’t get me wrong---they were all great people. But there was something inherently damaged in their chemistry. They were barely functional as a unit, but that made their music seem all the more dangerous.
A year or two after that tour, Continuum Books announced open submissions for their 33 1/3 book series, wherein authors analyze classic albums and assess their cultural impact. I knew I didn’t stand a chance, but I pitched a book on Hell Songs. My thesis was pretty basic: heavy music is typically just theater, but Daughters was real life drama, and that made their music that much more intense. As per their submission guidelines, I wrote an opening chapter. The pitch was rejected, but I wound up posting the chapter online, where it caught the attention of Robotic Empire, the label that put out Daughters’ debut LP. They offered to print the book. And so for the next year-and-a-half I dedicated all my spare time to questioning the individual band members, chasing down old tour mates, stitching together the chronology of their history, reading old interviews, and writing the damn thing. I submitted a first draft to the band and waited two weeks to hear back from them.
They eventually asked to cancel the project. There were disagreements within their camp as to how shit actually went down. And, understandably, there were a lot of grimy details that they weren’t too excited to share publicly. It was disappointing, but understandable. I figured a certain amount of rejection is inevitable as a writer, and this one at least had a valid excuse, so there wasn’t much of a sting.
Anyhow, I’ve posted the first chapter after the jump. The writing seems a little corny now, so maybe I ultimately dodged a bullet.
“Yeah, I’ve been called a sinner...”
And so begins Daughter’s 2006 sophomore album Hell Songs--with a declaration of degradation. Vocalist Alexis S.F. Marshall, or Lex for short, wears the insult proudly, announcing it with the kind of defiant pride of Hester Prynne and her scarlet letter. And then a cascade of noise descends upon the final syllable. The song, “Daughters Spelled Wrong”, is one minute and 42 seconds of Lex’s self-flagellations delivered in a slurred Southern Baptist preacher’s drawl. In that short parcel of time, Lex lists off every slanderous label he’s endured.
“…wrong-doer, evil-doer…”
As the front man for Daughters, Lex was the human element to the band. And while his performance on Hell Songsis unnerving enough in its own right, his tirades became exponentially more menacing live. With his stringy waist-long hair, his tall and gangly frame, his wiry handle-bar mustache, his hopelessly tattered black pants (apparently his only pair), and his ill-fitting stained white dress shirt, he gave off an aura of someone who didn’t give a fuck about the pageantry of rock music. He wasn’t even fashionably unfashionable. Grooming, hygiene, and composure were neglected. He looked disheveled, poverty-stricken, strung out. Most Daughters sets found Lex in less attire, usually just a pair of briefs. Far from the display of muscle and machismo seen in chiseled frontmen like Henry Rollins, Anthony Kiedis, and Chris Cornell, there was nothing erotic about near-nude Lex. Sexual? Certainly, but only in the most degrading, animalistic sense of the word. Lex’s stage presence only served to make the audience as uncomfortable as possible. He would claw red lines into his belly, cram his entire fist into his mouth, fellate the microphone, and drool on himself while fondling his genitals. In moments where audience members chose to interact with him on stage, the results were equally filthy. People vied for his spit. Women pulled at his briefs. Fans fondled and licked his exposed cock. A confessed “sex addict”, Lex would swap spit with both men and women mid-set and fuck fans in venue bathrooms. His tally of sexual conquests was startling, given his disturbing stage behavior and lack of sociability. Claiming a bad acid trip as the root of his social anxiety, Lex was nearly bipolar in his daily interactions. He was relatively friendly and talkative one moment, withdrawn and angry the next. A ninth-grade drop out and former homeless teenager, his bleak world-view was legitimate.
“…worker of iniquities…”
There’s no verse. No chorus. No rhyming scheme. No melody. It’s just one musical phrase repeating for the entire duration of the song. The instrumental accompaniment sounds like a broken machine filtered through the ears of someone simultaneously shuddering through a panic attack and immersed in vertigo. The sound underneath Lex’s litany is a study in all things wrong and counter-intuitive. The band—comprised of entirely capable and talented players—sounds like they’re deliberately unlearning their instruments. Cymbals crash without a kick drum to punctuate them. The bass guitar dives and climbs with little regard for actual notes. One guitar avoids the lower octaves completely and opts instead for atonal high-end screeching and skronky discord. The other guitar remains stuck on one warbled, seasick riff through the whole song, sounding off-balance and broken even when the whole band locks in around it. It’s confounding, ugly music.
“…transgressor, bad example, scoundrel, villain, knave…”
The annals of rock music have no shortage of bands showcasing the darker side of human nature. Ever since Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil, ever since Jerry Lee Lewis set his piano on fire, ever since Iggy Pop rolled in broken glass, there has existed a certain sector of the rock community dedicated to exorcising its demons on stage. It’s the reason that concerned parents and church groups still argue that rock music is evil. This flagrant display of bad behavior, self-destruction, and reckless abandon is at the very root of rock music. And perpetuating rock’s legacy of danger requires raising the bar of rebellion. As rock music nears the age of retirement, its old tricks no longer impress young audiences. Chuck Berry and Little Richard carry none of the threat they did in their heyday. KISS terrified puritanical parents with the widespread rumors of their name serving as an acronym for Kids In Satan’s Service, but now they seem downright Christian in comparison to the blasphemous content of black metal bands like Gorgoroth. So prevalent is the anti-social contingent of music in today’s market that it’s hardly noteworthy for a band to parade its malice for an audience. The harder edged realms of rock music—metal and punk, for example—depend on that kind of antagonism. Daughters looked for one of those last few buttons to push, one of those last few taboos to break, one the last few ways to make people cringe. Perry Farrell noted well over two decades ago “nothing’s shocking.” Daughters challenged that statement.
“…miscreant, viper, wretch, the devil incarnate…”
It takes a certain brand of individuals to make nihilism translate into music, and it requires their contempt to be believable. Words like “genuine”, “sincerity”, and “honesty” get thrown around by critics and fans as signifiers of good music. How do those qualities apply to antagonistic musicians? Do the artists have to be genuinely miserable people to make convincingly ugly music? The artists who are typically the most successful at channeling this kind of dark art manage to convey that wrath and misery in both content and form. It’s not just a matter of singing about the pasty underbelly of the human psyche or throwing a few skulls on an album cover; it’s about the thoroughness of pessimism. It’s about creating a genuine sense of danger. And it requires a misanthropic honesty that carries itself both on and off-stage. It used to be that the entirety of the public’s perception of an artist stemmed from image they set forth on stage and on record. In the age of the internet, this is no longer the case. Even more so for a band of Daughter’s stature—a band that rarely had a backstage to slink off to, a band that still had to unload their own gear off stage, a band that still had to run back to the merch booth after their set to sling t-shirts for gas money, a band with no place to hide and sustain a fabricated mystique.
“…monster, demon, fallen angel, murderer, and thief…”
The Catch-22 is that being in a successful band—a band that can write music together, play shows, tour, record, maybe even make a little money—requires unity, solidarity, positivity, compromise, and sociability. In other words, a band that’s genuinely driven by angst and hostility is doomed for failure. Proof of the unsustainable nature of these kinds of acts is most evident in the dearth of popular nihilistic bands. Even the somewhat well-known misery peddlers tend to be tragically stunted. Notorious shock rock icon GG Allin made a career out of anti-social behavior and bilious lyrical themes. He was known to take the stage naked, ready to fight the audience and fling his feces at the crowd. He wrote songs with titles like “Last In Line For The Gang Bang” and “Fuckin’ The Dog”. He famously promised to kill himself on stage, which would have been the ultimate display of the self-destructive nature of negative music, but a heroin overdose beat him to it. Glen Benton, the vocalist and bassist for seminal death metal band Deicide similarly promised to off himself at the age of 33 as a mockery of Jesus Christ’s year of death. Benton failed to live up to his word. And while he will always be remembered for the controversy he created in his early career by branding an inverted cross into his forehead and advocating animal sacrifice, he tempered out in his later years when he became a family man with a wife and kids. Not surprisingly, the quality of Deicide’s albums declined, as did their album sales. Allin went too close to the edge and fell into the abyss. Benton mellowed out. Neither managed to sustain the malice of their classic records over a protracted career. Daughter’s brand of ugliness had none of Allin’s overt misogyny and violence, none of Deicide’s Christian-baiting Satanism. Instead, they specialized in a kind of implied depravity. Lex wouldn’t attack the venue patrons, but he’d do everything else in his power to make the audience take a squeamish step back. Even though their album title references Hell, there was no trumpeting of a contrarian religion in their lyrics, no acknowledgement of moral consequence. Instead, Lex sang about emotional voids. It somehow made Lex scarier than GG or Glen. He seemed smarter. Colder. Less confrontational, but also less vested in cheap stunts and outlandish behavior for the sake of winning over anyone’s approval. He wasn’t interested in violence. He was interested in degrading himself on stage, forcing the audience into an unnerving kind of voyeurism.
“…lost sheep, black sheep, black guard, loafer, and sneak…”
Even the millionaire “bad boys of rock”—artists like Alice Cooper, Guns N’ Roses, and Motley Crue—aren’t exempt from the imbalance of nihilism and authenticity. For one thing, these cultural giants never tread so far into the blackness that you feared them as people. Their worst crimes were their hedonistic appetites. They still came across as people that would be fun to party with. Marilyn Manson managed to up the ante of anti-social behavior in the ‘90s, but the controversy was calculated. Manson always knew how to articulate his more vitriolic statements in a calm, well-spoken, intellectual manner. It was obviously theater. Daughters didn’t come across as the life of the party. They didn’t come across as having any sort of deeper, thoughtful meaning to their art. They came across as genuinely bitter, crass, resentful individuals.
“…good-for-nothing ass-fucking son of a bitch.”
Daughters were a band that tried to find that balance between thorough, real ugliness and some kind of self-sustaining functionality. They wanted to be successful; they wanted to tour the world and make money. But they also wanted to make something truly hideous and uncomfortable. Their debut album, Canada Songs, was an 11-minute surge of hyper-paced noise-driven hardcore. Occupying the kind of punk/metal hybrid territory instigated by bands like The Locust and Dillinger Escape Plan, Daughters found an immediate audience among fans of frenzied, technical music. It was well-received, but not entirely unconventional for that particular style. But Hell Songs was different. The band ditched their lightning-speed tempos, metal-steeped instrumentation, and shrieking, indecipherable vocals for disjointed mid-tempo lurches and Lex’s drunken oratory. They weeded their old material out of their performances. The fans felt betrayed. They had gone from sounding like the arty descendents of the powerviolence and grindcore scenes into a tightly wound meth-fed version of The Birthday Party. There was a much stronger adversarial vibe to their new approach. Their sound was less tethered to any particular scene. It alienated a fan base that was already built on embracing disenfranchisement and being at odds with everything.
But deservedly, the record found an audience, albeit a small one. For as caustic and abrasive of an album as it is, there’s a surprising catchiness to the material. The low end groans; the high end piercingly buzzes like a swarm of insects; the drums flit from spasms of hyperkinetic pulverizations to deconstructed thuds and clatter; and Lex moans and howls over all of it. Yet somehow, Hell Songs is rife with hooks. There was a discipline to what they did. It could’ve easily devolved into white noise, but there was always a clarity and separation to the instruments. They were a tight band. And for the three years that followed the release of Hell Songs before the group imploded, Daughters came about as close as any band can get to being a total train wreck without rattling apart at the seams. There was fighting, a rotating cast of guitar players, drugs, infidelities, van accidents, hospital trips, lost money, rivalries with tourmates, promoters pulling guns on the band, and an never-ending list of lewd stage behavior. They were a fascinating, glorious mess, and they perfectly captured it over the course of ten songs.
“I’ve been called a sinner.”

10 Best Romantic Things to Do in Paris
Spending time relaxing together, just the two of you, is another way to celebrate love. In Paris there are countless ways in which to paint the town a Valentine red, but one of the most intimately romantic is to spend time together at a small, intimate theater on the Ile Saint-Louis. This gem, the Theatre de L’Ile St. Louis, is a 35-seater and has nightly programming, both of concerts and plays. What’s even better, an assortment of top-notch restaurants on the little island in the center of Paris, are less than a 5-minute walk away.
Another intimate way to celebrate the You that is the 2 of you, is a spa experience. Relaxing in the steam room, enjoying a glass of champagne in the hot tub and finishing with a massage is a romantic dream come true. The ultimate discreet Parisian spa is Sensation Spa in the 7th arrondissement. Or you could always spend an evening at Le Grand Rex, Europe’s biggest movie theater found here, in Paris. Located in the Grands Boulevards area, this gorgeous, historic movie theater is surrounded by trendy bars and eateries for before or after.
Paris is a city full of the emblems of love. Of course, the notion of romantic love is a relatively recent social concept, springing up first in historical references only in the late 17th c. It is even thought that the origin of the English word “romance” originates from a French vernacular dialect. Perfume, too, is credited to France. Le Grand Musee du Parfum is a sensual way to explore the art of scent with one another.
To celebrate love & romance in the City of Love, one needn’t wait for Valentine’s Day. Any special occasion or any special moment enjoyed by lovers can be revered as a sort of private Valentine’s moment. On this list, you will find just ten (of the dozens and dozens of possibilities here in Paris) recommendations of how to pay homage to this most noble of human emotions – love. To start with, book yourselves tickets online for L’Atelier des Lumieres. This immersive digital art experience, highlighting chosen artists, has been a hit since it first opened its doors in Paris a few short years ago. It is a family friendly activity, too, just in case your ‘date night’ includes the little ones. On that note, the Palais de la Decouverte is another immersive, experiential excursion that can be enjoyed ‘en deux’ or ‘en famille.‘ Their current temporary exhibit is devoted to L’Amour and understanding the physiological science behind it.
So, even though each year Valentine’s Day is the holiday that focuses all of us romantics on the romantic nature of love, for lucky Parisians, romance is just a state of mind. And this is a sate of mind that, with some discipline, you can embody every day of the year. For example, simply take a walk across the famous ‘Lover’s Bridge,’ the Pont des Arts at sunset or sunrise, to get that rush of romance.
The Eiffel Tower of course beckons seductively to all who visit Paris. So to give your visit that extra shot of romantic, start at the Trocadero whichaffords a wonderful view onto the Eiffel Tower in the near distance. And for those looking to pay tribute to Love itself, there is Le Mur des Je T’Aime a whole, wall dedicated to declarations of love.
A newer edition to the city’s cultural landscape, this aptly named ‘Light Workshop’ for the City of Light, draws you into an immersive art experience. Housed in a cavernous building in the trendy 11th arrondissement, once you step through the black doors, you enter into not just the chosen artist’s world, but his/her imagination, too. Digitally projected images from the artist’s repertoire and life are projected on all walls, the floor and the ceiling, creating a swirling light show all around you. It is a sort of Sound & Light show 2.0…but the immersive experience, the sound of music and narrative that accompanies the spectacle and the overall sensory stimulation makes this better than going to the movies. It’s also a great family activity.
Recommended for Romantic Things to Do because: An instant hit in the City of Light, this art-come-alive show by Culturespace draws spectators in and keeps them enthralled for the duration.
Paige’s expert tip: This is an all-ages activity. Many of the spectators walk around the floor space and then find themselves a spot to just sit back, gaze around and take it all in. The spectacle lasts about an hour, give or take, but you can stay as long as you like if you want to catch it on repeat.

A contemporary art museum dedicated to exhibiting and then supporting the artists even after the exhibits through the purchase of their work, this beautiful museum is a favorite of many Parisians. It is nestled in the Montparnasse district of Paris, hence it is central and accessible. The foundation collaborates with other city institutions to expand its exhibiting reach. The wildly popular, ‘We The Trees,’ temporary exhibit was extended several months and some of the auxiliary audio-visual media material can still be accessed on the site. This isn’t the only example of dynamic curating that the young team at the Fondation has a penchant for, so check the website to see what’s current. Likely there will be something that appeals to your artistic senses. And the grounds, in the summer time, are a welcoming, shady place to take a breath and enjoy an outdoor snack.
Recommended for Romantic Things to Do because: Nestled in an accessible Montparnasse neighborhood, this museum’s popularity with the local Parisians is understandable once you’ve visited.
Paige’s expert tip: Don’t be fooled by the name, this foundation is looks, acts and feels like a museum. It is devoted to contemporary art and its philosophy is such that the foundation purchases a substantial portion of the art it exhibits. Hence, it is more than just a place of display.

This museum in Paris is devoted fully to the art of perfume. It is a private museum funded partially with state funds and partially by private investors. Perfume is as integral to French culture as couture, fine wine and art. That there had not yet existed in the French capital a museum wholly devoted to perfume, unaffiliated with a perfume brand, was seen as something of an empty space that needed filling. The museum’s location is just a block or so away from the French White House, the Elysee. It is devoted to sensory perception and has been designed to be highly interactive. Visitors are easily and luxuriously drawn into testing their olfactory senses and playing at finding the scents that most please them. In the four floors of the perfume museum (including the Roederer-like champagne cellars basement) of the renovated private mansion, the visitor is introduced to the history of perfum and its importance at the King’s court especially Versailles. The upper floors are devoted to sensory and smell perceptions. This is a museum that is certain to appeal to both young and old, male and female.
Recommended for Romantic Things to Do because: Walking through the garden of scents installation is a delightful way to test your olfactory senses.
Paige’s expert tip: Experts tell us that our sense of smell is inseparably intertwined with our memories. Here you can make beautiful memories together while exploring your sense of smell and the making of perfume, with your significant other. In the four floors of the perfume museum (including the Roederer-like champagne cellars basement) of the renovated private mansion, the visitor is introduced to the history of perfume and its importance at the King’s court especially Versailles. This is Europe’s largest movie theater and its location right on Grands Boulevards means it’s walking distance from the major department stores and one of Paris’s best shopping districts. With 2,650 seats it was purportedly modeled after NYC’s Radio City Music Hall. It opened in 1932 and its kitschy interior is still a mix between Art Deco and neo-classical Oriental. Best to see for yourself, and you can, as there is a 50-minute tour of the cinema that you can take year-round. The theater is not to be confused with its dance club, the Rex Club, which is adjoined and whose entrance is just a few yards down the way (known for its electro-pop music). Le Grand Rex is hands-down the most most impressive movie theater, in terms of largesse, dcor and history, in Paris.
Recommended for Romantic Things to Do because: This is Europe’s largest movie theater and a Parisian landmark perfect for a date night out on the town.
Paige’s expert tip: Take the 50 minute tour of the cinema, offered year-round. There is also a nightclub just next door, by the same name. So after your movie is finished, you can continue your night by dancing in the club just a door down.

Ever felt like escaping back to childhood? Where there was magic, model trains, life-sized unicorns, dragons and pretend kings and fairy princesses? This museum offers you exactly that kind of escape. It’s probably one of the least famous museums in Paris, which will make it all the more magical when you discover it. Yes, it’s a favorite of families, especially at the holiday times, when the museum puts all its rides into action and the grounds become one big old-style amusement park. But there is also such romance here, full of nostalgia and a time when carousel horses were hand carved out of wood and painted by a master craftsman. Come with your significant other and you will be sharing in these delights with the person who matters most. It will be sort of like watching the sunset together – infinitely better when the moment is shared.
Recommended for Romantic Things to Do because: It isn’t every day that you get to walk through a 19th century carnival grounds come alive. This one is interactive and authentic.
Paige’s expert tip: Every year at the end of the year, the ten days or so between Christmas and the start of the new year, this museum puts all its rides in action and has puppet masters, street performers and tap dancers animating the entire grounds. It becomes much more than a museum at this time, it becomes an interactive fair ground come alive from the 19th c.

This museum, set in the Hotel Biron, is a tribute to one of the world’s finest sculptors. Thanks to Rodin’s own donations, the facility offers a wealth of objects, including terra cotta, bronze and marble creations. Plaster and wax studies are available as well, along with his sketches, drawings, engravings, and his own collected art. Among the items on display are “The Kiss” and the sculpture that brought Rodin much fame, The Thinker. The museum is now re-opened after 3 years (2012 – 2015) of renovations on the main building, Hotel Biron, which is an early 18th c. building. The gardens are an idyllic draw unto themselves. They were also the setting for the scene where former First Lady of France, Carla Bruni, played her role for Woody Allen’s film, Midnight in Paris. A café in the gardens offers refreshments.
Recommended for Romantic Things to Do because: This is a museum that offers as much viewing outdoors as indoors. It’s a pleasing blend for all in your party, whatever the weather.
Paige’s expert tip: Just one euro gets you entrance to these magnificent gardens, a gorgeous place to quietly sit and read a book. It is also favored by art students who bring their sketch pads for some still-life practice.

Paris is often considered to be the city of love, ideal for romance, and epitomizing that Paris aura is the Le Mur des Je T’aime, aka the I Love You Wall. This understated work of art is in a Paris park (Square Jehan Rictus Place des Abbesses in Montmartre) amidst flowers and trees, which add to the romance of the wall. What makes this wall so appealing for love that it has become the meeting place for romantics? On the black wall are 311 declarations of love in 250 different languages written in white. It’s a simple, but powerful work of art paying homage to one of the most powerful phrases in all languages: I love you.
Recommended for Romantic Things to Do because: To escape from the city and indulge in relaxation and rejuvenation without having to go anywhere is the key to an excellent urban spa getaway.
Paige’s expert tip: Look up how to say “I love you” in several different languages and then search for them on the wall. This is a fun game to play with kids or to create a bit of fun competition between you and your significant other to see who can find each phrase first.

The Pont des Arts, a pedestrian bridge across the Seine, connects the Louvre with the Latin Quarter while offering some of the city’s most stunning views. It is also known as the Lover’s Bridge since lovers have been coming here for centuries to gaze into one another’s eyes. In recent years, the phenomena of Love Locks has swept not just Paris but romantic spots throughout the world. Alas, this bridge, however, became one of the epicenters for this cultural tradition and its 19th c. railings crumbled under the weight of all that love. The city replaced these with plexiglass panels. In the evenings it is a popular spot to come share a bottle of wine that special someone, and also just to sit and revel in the sounds of the street musicians, the passersby and other lovers such as yourselves, while basking in the breathtaking views.
Recommended for Romantic Things to Do because: Gazing at the sunset from this bridge with Notre Dame in one direction and the Grand Palais/Eiffel Tower in another is a timeless moment.
Paige’s expert tip: Last summer the bridge’s metal paneling began to give way under the weight of all the Love Locks fastened to them. So the city has started a campaign called #LoveWithoutLocks, a digital wall where you can post your declarations of love.

A more charming ‘community theatre’ does not exist anywhere! Located on the ancient, historical and aristocratic Quai d’Anjou; at the end of a short covered passageway full of flowers and flora, is where you’ll find this little theatre. There is something going on nearly every day, often piano recitals at 6:30 in the evenings, and even more entertaining fare, such as theatre or musical variety shows from 9pm. This intimate little theatre is famous for its elegance as well as its programming. It seats a total of about 30 people on plush, red velvet theatre seats. The box office opens about 30 minutes before the show. Or you can reserve in advance and buy you tickets online. Check their website for upcoming shows, concerts and theatre pieces. Even such greats as Michael Lonsdale have headlined plays and presentations here, so be prepared to be charmed and pleasantly surprised.
Recommended for Romantic Things to Do because: With all the wonderful theaters to choose from in Paris, this one remains the most intimate and, certainly for a romantic evening, the best location.
Paige’s expert tip: There are few places in Paris more romantic that the Ile St. Louis. It becomes even moreso, the more you hear about its storied past and the greats who have called this little island in the center of Paris ‘home.’ A winning romantic evening is the following: A piano recital show at the only theatre here on the island, followed by dinner at any of the magnificent restaurants to be found within a short 5 minute walk. Or, reverse the order, and do the 9pm show after dinner.

Located next to the Grand Palais, this science and technology museum (museum of discovery is the literal translation) is smaller and older than the Cite; des Sciences, and it has a charm all its own. Created in 1937 to help people understand scientific methods, the museum brings in excellent temporary exhibits to augment its permanent displays on physics, biology, electricity and astronomy. The real philosophy behind this museum is that most of us learn and comprehend scientific theory better when we have a chance to experience it. So many of the temporary and permanent exhibits here are hands-on. That’s a feature that is sure to make the kids, big and small, crack a smile. It also has a wonderful collection of original Da Vinci designs. Note: explanations are often in French only. METRO: Champs Elys–es-Clemenceau (line 1 or 3)
Recommended for Romantic Things to Do because: This is an interactive, fascinating science museum for young and old that happens to be just steps from the Champs-Elysées.
Paige’s expert tip: This museum is even better when you, or someone in your party, speak a bit of French. However, there are designated multilingual “scientific mediators” whose passion for science helps transmit the understanding of some of the basic scientific principles, like electricity. If yçu’ve ever visited the Exploratorium in San Francisco, you can easily draw comparisons to this immersive museum. Recent temporary exhibits include ‘De l’Amour,’ an exhibit dedicated to the physiological science behind love.

Two month old 24-year-old self
I was wondering how I've been since then. Same duration with my quarantine life as solo and yolo. 😄
The world stopped revolving because of the pandemic yet it's kinda not that for me as my mind is wandering as always. It may sound selfish but somehow there was a time that I wished that the world would stop for a moment as I couldn't really catch up and I am really lost. I didn't know this gonna happen for real but not in the way that pandemic would be the reason. I just want it to simply stop without any reason for me breathe at least. Now, that it is really happening, it can be a cure or a torture or maybe both in many ways. It seems like my zodiac year stopped and felt like a breather.
Anyways, this is how I was since then. Time is swift and within that short span of time many things happen, like twists and turns.
I faced a lot of things and it really challenged me bigtime. I made decisions I didn't know I could like being bold and honest of how I feel and stand for myself. I showed people if I am upset towards them and I just don't settle for being treated that way anymore just to keep things at peace even if it comprises me, my well-being. Big no for this now. I would rather lose some people than to lose myself. Maybe this is the start of learning self-love and finally giving it to myself this time. I can't please everyone and that's okay. I don't want to live like that anyway. I never do. It's just that I have this too much understanding and kind heart but was underrated, unappreciated and abused by many. So I am trying to save and heal it!
Maybe some things are meant to happen. I am grateful that I did. I just couldn't imagine being locked up here and living with someone I am not in good terms with. Good thing is I was brave enough to be vocal and confront that person whom I used to be my roommate that is also workmate in the office about our setup in the dorm. It is nice that she left immediately before the hard lockdown. This is the best way for us though as it would a torture and unhealthy for both of us if we continue to be housemates. Actually, this is the first time I felt that sometimes parting is a good thing. Hahaha.
Since then, I was able to start to do things I wanted to do on my own without minding other people around me and no more hesitations to do so. How peaceful that is to me. I don't have to feel the need to take care of others who is not also grateful about that anyway so I'd rather stop. Haha. This time, I am taking care of myself, still learning but I do in the best way I can. Hehe.
I do things on my own. Strong and independent woman here. Haha. Trying my best as I fight my inner demons to live and keep myself sane in a new and unknown enviroment where I only have myself to rely on. I do the grocery, strategize and decide over things as I pray to God for me to be safe and sound, as I push myself to trust and believe in me too. So far, so good and I am grateful for everything even if things were more difficult than it used to be when I can just go anywhere before the quarantine restrictions and all that.
In this kind of setup, I am also dealing more with myself closely especially my thoughts and feelings. I tried to confront myself with it sometimes, but most of the time I tried to make myself busy and distracted from those. It's pretty hard honestly. I sometimes I can't help but dwell in it like I am drowning in my own yet manage to swim and rise from it. I got to ask question myself with a lot of things like who I really am, what do I really want to do in life, how stagnant my life is in this stage like I still in no progress zone. I haven't proven anything nor at least financially capable but simply a cycle of sustenance to survive everyday living and fulfill basic responsibilities on my shoulders.
I also try to forget some things and people. I even dare to have attempts to do the things I was so afraid of like detaching and letting go little by little. I had my 5 phases of grief over things and people I am attached with or I love and care too much. I am finally learning to not get involve myself with those. Well, before this lockdown, I had convo with some relatives and confronted with the history of family issues I, we, used to ignore and after exchanges of sentiments. It happens to be the end of everything and finally cut our ties. It should have been done a long time ago but for Dad's sake I just kept silent about it and since he's gone, these things are bound to happen anyway. Maybe this is how peace can be achieved. No matter how we would want to keep some people and things, it is not meant for keeps but just a season.
As for this ecq, actually just around 2 to 3 days ago... I decided to get rid of pictures in a whim. So far I didn't regret it. Hahaha. Those pics was from the person I used to care for but I am taking this time to forget and get over with. Hahaha. Yeah, it is very hard for me to delete pictures as I am a memory keeper but I have to. Maybe I am a little bit changed. Haha. But before this, I usually rant at facebook but mostly in twitter through my threads of tweets about everything I think and feel. Haha. Yet, I decided to deactivate my main facebook account since yesterday for real to hibernate myself and to detox with technology particularly with social media as I spent most of time there instead of dedicating it to myself. I want to totally deactivate from everything but I couldn't as it is also my source of info and my communication iny work. Hayss. Haha. For now, I keep anything else active but less engaged except for youtube for music, vlogs and random videos. Hahaha. Yet, I wanted to be productive but my procrastination and unmotivated self impede me to do so. Haha. I hope moving forward I could have that discipline and consistency to finally achieve my goals. But for now, maybe I will focus on healing with my pains, wounds and scars, knowing myself more, doing my hobbies, learning new things and working on to be the best of myself soon. That's how I want this quarantine. Wish me luck and I pray I will!

James and Wynter: Knock-Knock-Knocking on Perdition’s Door
Thread transfer for @lxvingdeadgxrl
James
“I don’t believe any being is inherently evil, Wynter,” James said. “The choices we make determine our fate.”
___________________________________
Wynter
She ran her finger around the lip of her glass, pale eyes focused on some random spot on the table. “I’ve been telling myself that for years, you know…Tried to believe it, but I think some of us are damned regardless.”
___________________________________
James
Nursing his glass of bourbon, he watched her for a moment, noting the far-off look in her eyes that veiled a wound that had long ago taken root. “Tell me.” The words were softly spoken, an invitation rather than a command.
___________________________________
Wynter
Tell him? Christ, where to even start…
She lifted her glass, taking a slow, thoughtful sip. “Have you ever had a nightmare so vivid, so real, and it happens so often that you can’t help but know that it’s not actually a dream, but a vision?” she asked him simply.
___________________________________
James
Dragons as a species, as well as hybrids like James, were tapped deeply into the web of reality, and had varying degrees of prescience. Some were more attuned than others and served as augers who Saw into the complicated weave of potential and probable futures. James himself had never had much talent for prescience, but even so, when events loomed that shaped fate on a global scale, his dreams would dip into that stream and send back echoes that lingered relentlessly until fate either anchored to that potential or shifted to a different branch altogether.
“At times. Not often.” He studied her. “What do you see in these dreams?”
___________________________________
Wynter
See, at least he had insight like that. Wyn on the other hand, she didn’t have that. People like her? They weren’t exactly keen on sharing tips or tricks, and didn’t really live or stay sane long enough to pass on their information. There was no manual, no nifty little instructional booklet…
“Hell.” she replied rather frankly. “Damnation…eternal agony, call it what you want.”
___________________________________
James
“I see.” He was quiet for a minute, sipping his drink while he thought. The Christian concept of Hell was quite modern, all things considered, and was only one cosmological model in a vast history of mythologies and cultural beliefs– however, that didn’t mean it wasn’t real. He had seen reality bend and shift and fold in upon itself, layer after layer of potential pasts, presents, and futures swirling together like a kaleidoscope, and a seemingly static world that appeared to be set in stone could be swept away in an instant, replaced by something new, with very few noticing.
Some noticed, he had found. Entire internet forums were dedicated to what had been termed Mandela Effects and Glitches in the Matrix, where bewildered humans swapped stories of their worlds inexplicably changing in the blink of an eye.
He couldn’t write anything off as altogether impossible, and wouldn’t show Wynter the disrespect of dismissing her fears and visions. “And do you see in your visions what brings you to that place? Why are you there? What are the circumstances surrounding these images?”
___________________________________
Wynter
It was as real as any realm if existence, and Wynter knew that there were many of them. She’d seen too many things, experienced far too much throughout her life to be silly enough to believe that there was only one.
The young woman let out a short, bitter laugh. What brought her there? Why she was there? Wasn’t it obvious?
“Unclean souls go to Hell, James. What is a necromancer if not an unclean soul?” she asked. “Doesn’t matter what I do with it, or how much of myself I wall up and block from the world, the vision never changes.”
___________________________________
James
“Now, hold up a minute,” James interjected, raising a hand. “I mean no offense, but that is a steaming pile of bullshit.” He well knew how one’s beliefs could color perception, and if she believed she was damned already simply because of some mistakes she had made in her past, because of her natural proclivities, seeing visions of a place that seemed hellish would serve only to support that belief. Confirmation bias was a bitch sometimes. That wasn’t to say it wasn’t the mythical Hell, but the amount of cultural baggage attached to that particular belief could twist anyone’s view on the matter.
He turned on his barstool to look at her directly, and reached out to touch her hand. “Wynter, listen to me. You do not deserve that fate. Whatever you may have seen. Whatever other people may have told you. You are not unclean, and damn anyone who says different to the very Hellfire they wish to condemn you to.” That wasn’t to say she would never encounter such a place in her future– he knew better than to dismiss any possibility in this world– but resigning herself to it with the idea that it was somehow just or right would serve only to defeat her before she even got started.
One thing was for certain, if she did find herself in that place, he would move heaven, earth, and the underworld to get her out. No friend of his would be bound to eternal torment while he was still alive to do something about it.
___________________________________
Wynter
Oh…Well, shit, she hadn’t expected an outburst like that from him.
Her expression betrayed her surprise, pale eyes widened ever so slightly. He…He said that it was bullshit, but that was exactly what she’d been led to believe for the duration of her life. Sure, she’d fought it, did what she could to prove herself more than her abilities, but it just never seemed to help things.
The nightmares and visions remained the same.
He kept her gaze, his hand resting upon her own as he spoke once more, insisted that she was mistaken in her thinking. He told her that she wasn’t damned, that she was destined for more than that hellfire, but it certainly felt as if she was.
“Just because I don’t deserve it, doesn’t mean that it won’t happen. I…I-I’d love to say that there was a way to change that, but again, what more can I do?” she asked him seriously. “How do you win redemption when you haven’t intentionally done anything wrong?”

Salman Khan’s Blackbuck Case & The Lessons Which We Learnt From It
One of the industry’s highest-paid actors having a fan following of hundreds and millions has been declared guilty of killing Blackbucks in the year 1998 and was sentenced to 5 years in prison. The 52-year-old actor was taken straight to Jodhpur Central Jail from the court. Khan along with his other celebrity friends was accused of killing two blackbucks and two chinkaras during their stay in Jodhpur. With the high rate of animal killing and few or no convictions, wildlife poaching has thrived in the country. In fact, even the superstar receives bail every time he is convicted and never spends more than a day behind the bars and nothing different happened this time too. But to keep our positive spirits high, here are few things which we learned from Salman Khan’s the case that has gained immense limelight in past couple of weeks.
Importance of Local Contribution in Conserving Wildlife
Salman would have never faced such ‘inconvenience’ if a man from Bishnoi tribe wouldn’t have come forward. This Rajasthan’s tribe is dedicated to conserving wildlife and live in the complete harmony with nature. The women of this tribe have a long history of nursing fawns like their own child, feeding them and giving them all their basic rights. Another thing that we cannot ignore here is tribe’s perseverance and dedication towards the case. Since 20 long years, the case is pending in courts and these tribal people still have faith in the judiciary and still hope for the justice.
Restoring Faith in Justice
The decision came after 20 years but has restored our faith in the Indian judicial system (no we are not talking about the faith that Salman has been bailed, but about the fact that the case was given utmost importance which created the wave of awareness in the entire nation). There are many cases of animal killing that get buried even before coming out in open but this one was huge. This conviction, however, shall make a strong point that shooting a wild animal just for a moment of fun is not only wrong but is a punishable offence as well.
Having said that we cannot turn a blind eye to the present day scenario which is only getting worse with each passing day. India has rich flora and fauna since forever but the citizens often disrespect it and in spite of learning from the mistakes, we sometimes take the road to exploitation. However, there are certain things, like what acts government is undertaking and how an individual can help just by joining hands with the local NGOs that we are putting light on… Conserving wildlife is the need of an hour. We are because they are!
Acts Initiated By The Government
The government of India introduced the Wildlife Protection Act in the year 1972 prohibiting trade of rare and endangered species and destruction of wildlife. Apart from the Act, the government also established various individual projects for Tigers, Elephants, Rhinoceros, Turtles, etc. to protect them from the notorious wildlife criminals. These anti-poaching methods coupled with Seminar on wildlife conservation and other Wildlife conservation program have contributed a lot in saving these voiceless creatures but poaching for horns, trunks, and skin is still one of the major causes of concern.
Joining Hands with NGOs & Raising Awareness
NGOs like Wildlife Protection Society of India (WPSI), TRAFFIC India, Wildlife Trust of India, etc are walking hand in hand with government authorities in protecting flora and fauna of India and in raising awareness. But we need to understand our duties and contribute whatever we can to save the endangered species, just like we learned from Salman Khan’s blackbuck case that even a single voice can make a difference.
How long is too long?
Stringent method to curb illegal poaching is followed in Kaziranga National Park after poaching resulted in the serious decline in the number of Rhinoceros and brought them close to extinction. The shoot at sight instructions was given to the officials in case they spot a poacher or suspect inside the wildlife sanctuary. However, it was extensively opposed after a BBC documentary brought this act out in the wrong light. However, the same orders were for a very short duration were also implied by Corbett National Park.
These strict laws coupled with hefty fine will definitely help in curbing the animal hunting but why are these strict actions taken when a species is on the verge of extinction or after more than 20 tigers brutally hunted for their skin at Jim Corbett National Park or when one of the World’s Most Endangered Mammal Gangetic Dolphins were almost on the verge of extinction and so were the freshwater crocs? The urgency of the matter must be understood by the government and the actions must be taken before it’s too late.
Salman Khan’s Blackbuck case has been currently paused and the actor has been granted bail, and I think this soon will be history and none of us will pay any attention towards wildlife conservation until we are awakened by another brutal poaching case. Well, exactly how many more such cases do we need to finally wake up and start putting our own individual efforts towards protection of wildlife? Let us know in the comment section below, your opinions on wildlife conservation and take a pledge to do your bit, no matter how small to conserve, protect, respect and save wildlife.

Shiller Pe For Emerging Markets
Doug Short of Advisor Perspectives dug up a fascinating information factor. He tried to find similar historic periods when the CAPE proportion was over 20 as well as the 10-year U.S. Treasury bond generated in the ultra low 2% range.

Later, Shiller was amongst those advising the U.S. real estate market would be pounded.
Nevertheless some financiers, like financial advisor Kay Conheady, who developed the P/E10ratio. com web site dedicated to the subject, think the ratio is a good sign for 10-year trends for the stock exchange.
Shiller Pe Adjusted For Interest Rates
Your very own gas mileage may vary. Easy investors are strongly recommended to overlook the entire adjunct in favour of taken care of allocations and also mechanical rebalancing, except possibly at times of seemingly extreme over-valuation-- the year 2000, claim, not the knowledge overvaluation of 2007.
Shiller's action improves the thoughts of Ben Graham, the godfather of worth investing who was Warren Buffett's coach. Graham when stated investors should take a look at earnings over a 5-to-10 year duration due to the fact that economic cycles can misshape business earnings in any type of given year.
youtube
However whatever you opt to call it as well as nonetheless years you look at, the suggestion is the same-- to attempt to see if a market looks good value compared with background, probably additionally by taking into consideration where you believe we are in the economic cycle.
Shiller Pe Black Tuesday
The existing ratio goes to 23.4 times earnings, compared to the long-lasting standard of 16.5. This would certainly suggest supplies are costly. To place this in even more viewpoint, the procedure was 13.3 in March 2009-- simply before U.S. stocks began their now four-year rebound.
What Shiller P/e Ratio Says About Market's Top
Profits are intermittent: Over a period of years, the total revenues from all firms in an index will certainly have a tendency to climb throughout economic development, and also drop sharply in downturns or economic crises. For successful business, the pattern will be upwards over the decades. However most will certainly experience setbacks en-route.
Moreover, several companies took on as well much financial debt in the go-go years. The PE10 ratio considers market capitalisation not venture value (the latter would certainly factor company financial obligation in the numerator, the 'P' part of the ratio), so it does not tell you anything concerning modifications in balance sheets.
"Shiller's method is great in a bearishness when individuals feel urged to justify affordable price, and had it existed, PE10 could have functioned fine before 1950 when returns were high and also profits payments were also high.
Richard Beddard of iii gives a rather jerry-rigged variation of PE10 for the FTSE All-Share index. Another UK blog owner used to use self-calculated updates of a shortish-run PE10 proportion for the UK. Regretfully his last post on the matter was in summer season 2011.2
Smead applied the Shiller P/E to Caterpillar and also Deere. While both companies look cheap on their pathing 2012 profits, he located that the stocks look miscalculated making use of Shiller's 10-year smooth on a P/E basis.
On the other hand, perhaps incomes over the previous 10 years were illusory, having been sustained by credit development in the first half of the decade that caused unsustainable customer investing as well as indebtedness. If so, after that to exactly what degree we still have to function off the unwanted stays to be seen.
"The closest we ever before pertained to this in U.S. history was a seven-month duration from October 1936 to April 1937," Short created. "During that duration the 10-year return balanced 2.67%, concerning 65 basis factors over where we are currently."
Supply market indices are just a collection of listed firms. You sometimes see financial investment banks estimating PE10 ratios for the UK market, yet I do not understand of a best resource. Making up some numbers for a fictitious market for picture: I would not sweat it if a market was on a PE10 of say 20 versus its historical typical PE10 degree of 15. WhCristiano's reinvention: his stats are worse than ever at Real, but he is for sure one of the greatest ever
Comparisons, as Miguel Cervantes correctly asserted, may well be odious but they are 'Nirvana' to football's statistics and information gatherers currently working overtime as Cristiano Ronaldo hones in on the all time league scoring record. Has he reached 400 goals in the colours of Real Madrid, or is it as many say 399? Can we count his free kick strike in Real Madrid's 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad or was it deflected in off Pepe? On such minutiae, friendships founder, families fall out. More importantly, does it matter? As if the experts didn't have enough data to work on with the constant comparisons that sally back and forth between Cristiano and his main rival for football lovers' affection, Leo Messi, now the names of former greats, Gerd Muller and Jimmy Greaves once again enter the spotlight they adorned with such distinction in the dim and distant past. And the problem is of course with facts, figures, stats and records is that very often they depend on the criteria you work with and - depending on who you believe - Cristiano is already the greatest scorer in League football history and not as the stat men would have it, one behind Das Bomber (Gerd Muller) and two short of Jimmy Greaves. The five leagues that qualify as 'top' apparently - and might I add at this point, says who?? - are in Spain, England, Italy, Germany and France and NOT in Portugal where Cristiano scored three goals for Sporting before his move to Manchester United, goals that would already have seen him lauded as the number one scorer in league history. This is one stat that will certainly provoke puzzled disbelief from a league that has, in Porto and Benfica, historically two of soccer's great sides and a country that, lest we forget, currently holds the European Championship. But I digress. What is most important is that in goal scoring terms at least, Cristiano and Messi and Greaves and Muller are/were the best - the very very best - and to make comparisons between one and the other bearing in mind they played in different times, in different conditions, on different surfaces with different equipment and a different approach to the rule book is ultimately to demean their greatness. A while back I incurred the wrath of Ronaldo fans across the world when I said he had declined physically. The reason I said it was simple - he had. A chronic knee injury - and I use the word in it's literal meaning which describes an illness or medical condition characterized by long duration or frequent recurrence - meant that he no longer had the blistering pace that would regularly destroy defences. And he knew it. I never said he would stop scoring and in fact it was the nature of the injury that compelled him to re-invent himself purely as a striker and bring him in from the flanks. He lost his speed, his electric bursts of pace and replaced them with even more of what he already had in abundance namely, a voracious hunger, an unceasing desire to be the best and a competitiveness and dedication to adapting to his new role. As he says himself, "With dedication and hard work things happen naturally", to which I might add that if it was that easy then we'd all do it. In the process he realised that to become the greatest striker in the world - and there is no greater at the moment - he has even strived to change his body shape to make him even more lethal in and around the penalty area. He is now around three kilos lighter, has less muscle development on his top half but has increased his muscle power and strength in his legs in his transformation purely as a striker. He has also for the first time realised that as the sands of time begin to run, then sometimes less is more and so consequently is far more prepared to be rotated and/or occasionaly substituted by Zinadine Zidane who he clearly trusts implicitly. At a time when many players of his age - Ronaldo is 32, and a battered and bruised 32 at that - are looking towards retirement, media work, cameo appearances and perhaps a bit of coaching, he will be hoping to plot the downfall of probably the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonard Bonucci as Real and Juventus makes their almost inevitable journeys to Wales for the Champions League final next month. Real Madrid's third final in four years and one that should they win will make them the first side since the tournament changed into the Champions League format to win the trophy in successive years. Meanwhile, Ronaldo, who has scored 50 goals or more every season at Real, has got the worst stats of this time at Real (35 goals 'only') but he has scored more goals than ever from the quarter finals of the Champions League. Another proof of his re-invention. The hunger and motivation that forced the change comes from a desire and a motivation to be the very best and a psychological toughness that is difficult to fathom but probably has its roots in the tough lonely road both he and Messi trod on their way to the very top. It there are to be comparisons made about the relative greatness of the four players then it is in this psychological department that we should pay most attention. As mere boys both Messi and Cristiano climbed aboard boat, trains and planes in search of their fortune while the likelihood is that players like Greaves and Muller used to go home to their Mums for tea after training with their local clubs. Much against his better judgment Greaves did take the plunge and travelled aboard although, in truth, he never wanted to go and did his level best to get out of the deal. He hated every minute of his stay with AC Milan in Italy. Muller to be fair had more success on the road in the twilight of his career though at a much lower level scoring a goal every two games more or less over three seasons with Fort Lauderdale in the USA Both Greaves and Muller succumbed for whatever reason to the demon drink post-playing and both are now in poor health. Greaves suffered a severe stroke in 2015 and is now looked after at home by those who love him now as they have always done, for better or worse, in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. In 2015 Bayern Munich chairman Karl Heniz Rummenigge confirmed that Muller had been diagnosed with Alzeimer's disease adding by way of tribute that: “Gerd Müller is one of the all-time greats of world football. Without his goals, Bayern Munich and German football would not be what it is today." “He was a fantastic team-mate and is a friend. Gerd will always enjoy a place in the Bayern family. And when the cheering, the success and the adulation stopped, the drink and depression kicked in. Thankfully both despite poor health, gained redemption. We live in a different world today. Players have more therapists, counsellors, advisors, assistants, coaches, trainers and general Svengali's than you could shake a stick at. But even accounting for that, the impression that the likes of Crisitiano and Messi spend their life cushioned and protected from the outside world is illusory. The fact is they are probably mentally, and certainly financially, better prepared to deal with the pressures that will come with facing the end of the road than perhaps Gerd and Jimmy were but only time will tell us how they will cope with retirement when it comes along. But ignoring comparisons, tinder dry statistics, and boring facts that never really tell it like it is or was, I'm reminded by what I once heard the brilliant radio and television presenter and football nut, Danny Baker say which, for me, kind of sums it all up. "The thing about great players is that what makes them great is that when you watch them play, they make you gasp," he said. And when we are pulling mere numbers, sterile figures, impersonal stats out of the air to justify our arguments this is what we should remember above everything else. When Cristiano and Messi play, as when Greaves and Muller played we all gasped as they showed us, week in week out, just why we love - and occasionally hate - this magnificently flawed game so much.
