Noone Should Be Named As Villain for the Rest of Their Lifes
This line is so so fcking important. Not just for bnha but also other series and even such a good lesson for real life too.
Yeah people make mistakes, sometimes those mistakes are so messed up, a kind of mistakes hurted many many people, kind of mistake that crossed the line, unreturnable but even so, people's desire to change or their suffering means nothing?! Because we all can fall into despair very easiely, we all can make horrible decisions, we can be 'villain' in someone else's story but does that mean we always have to live our lifes like that?
You will see two general reactions to someone messing up. Whether they ignore the mistake and justify it or they will tell how awfull you are and justify every bad things happens to you and say "you deserve it".
Even in many so called redemption arcs, villain gets killed or to live his life as inferior to "hero" of story. People's idea of giving someone a chance is most of the time making that person as inferior. Like, villain, even after redemption can never be "good and pure" as hero because heroes never messed up, they were lucky enough to stay as "pure" so even villain try their best, even they actually feeling guilty, even they take full responsibility, they still somehow has to live their lifes as inferior.
Yes, i am saying "luck", this is not me being ignoring people's effort to be better, this is me being empathizing people's pain and understanding that people can express their pain with destructive ways. That they act as awfull as hell because THEY ARE IN PAIN AND THEY COULDNT HAVE A CHANCE TO LEARN TO COPE THIS TRAUMA WITH HEALTHY WAY.
Yes, people might act as awfull but when they realize it, when they really geniuely want to be kind person, should their titles and awfull past always hunt them down? That they can never actually seen as "good person"? Do they not deserves to be loved and live normal life?
Yeah, this is how Deku acts, he is not one of those "kind" main characters who shows superficial empathy to the people he reach out.
Deku understand himself, his own suffering, his own flaws, his dark sides and he accepts that that part of him is exist. He knows that he is lucky enough to not fall into "villain path" and he just looks at Aoyama and see him as person too. He doesnt looking down on him for messing up. He just reach out to him with pure empathy, noticing that Aoyama's goodness and telling him that he can still be hero.
This is what actually giving a new chance to change to be better means. Deku is starting to understand that he can be easiely in Aoyama's place and instead of ignoring the fact that he was lucky enough to not messing up like most people do, he just puts himself and Aoyama on same place, that they both can be equally good, that they both can be heroes, despite him not making the same mistakes Aoyama did.
This kind of mindset that will save villains like Shigaraki, Toga, Dabi too. Yeah, they made horrible things but if anyone who desire to be kind person, anyone who geniuely wants to change, anyone who desire to take responsibility, anyone who actually feels guilty, they deserves to be happy, have normal lifes, they shouldnt be called as villain for the Rest of Their lifes because their suffering and effort for changing matters. Because yknow what? Awfull people dont change. (Not saying that anyone who dont change is awfull cause its not that simple but anyone who actually does the things i mentioned is definitely not awfull. ). Being"kind/good" doesnt mean always stay as pure, it means doing your best to be better person, its effort for changing, thats the point.
And btw, Spinner taking care of Shiggy was cute ^^.
(I am sick and should resting rn, but get excited after seeing Deku's speech and get up to write this meta. I AM ON FIRE NOW. I know that Deku still didnt reach that point, he still has way to go but this is such an important point and people should really take a lesson from it. I especially calling out other authors for this.)
Yeah, Deku is main character so of course, he would reach out to Aoyama with this idea but i never thought it will be this important. Its amazing, This is why he is my favorite character with Shigaraki. :))). If you think that i am overreacting, you are wrong cause i am sick of hyprocy of stories. Finally a character said this. Deku is amazing.

iida for the ask meme!
This is a #long post because apparently if you give me a keyboard and ask me to write about my treasured son Tenya Iida, it becomes a whole mess. & This is version #2 smh
favorite thing about them
I love how Iida is passionate, earnest, willing to grow. His biggest strength lies in his willingness to dedicate himself to a passion and to his sense of right. Iida’s idolization of his big brother, who is a modest hero but directly helps people every day stands in contrast many of the other kids who idolize heroes like All Might for example. I think that Iida voting for Izuku during the class rep elections really shows the type of person Iida is. He wanted the position for himself, but he recognized that Izuku was a natural leader and prioritized the good of the class over his personal ambition. Moreover, Iida tries not to overly rely on the merits of people he does trust like Izuku, like when he joined Todoroki’s team when he felt he was falling behind Izuku; Iida’s always dedicated to his dream and his goal.
Iida also is very passionate about his ideals and seeks to follow them through, even if they get him in trouble or get into conflict with his friends. What’s right is more important to him than what is easy, and that’s a very admirable trait. Unfortunately, this also plays into my least favorite thing, but I ultimately feel that having flaws and strengths so intimately connected makes for a well-developed and believable character. Especially as he continues to mature, and his sense of morality along with it, Iida’s characteristic strength of being earnest in his desire to follow through, no matter the personal setbacks will become a huge asset to the people around him and help him to fulfill his goal as a hero.
Honorable mentions: Interrupting Mineta’s creepy bullshit whenever he can. Worrying about Izuku like it’s his professionally paid job. His hand gestures when he gets excited or emphatic.
least favorite thing about them
Iida is very single-minded when it comes to his idea of what’s right, to the point where he can become dismissive of others. For example, when we first meet Iida he misjudges Izuku because Izuku doesn’t give off the vibe of being serious / having done the research and training necessary to get into U.A. Iida comes off as a huge jerk in this scene for good reason, and basically warms up to Izuku initially because he misinterprets Izuku’s saving of Ochako as some genius strategy for the test.
Iida’s thinking can be very focused on the system in place, and trying to live up to the ideals of that system. This sometimes also ignores the complexities that could make him sympathetic to another viewpoint, at least consciously. This does include himself, which I feel shows that it’s a flaw that’s well-intended and not necessarily selfish, but nevertheless it can negatively affect both him and the people around him. For example, I was glad he went with Kirishima, & crew to retrieve Bakugo, and I think some part of him subconsciously knew the rules were wrong, but he still had to justify it to himself as keeping the others in line.
I think that the ultimate Good Ending for Iida’s character growth is to realize that he puts too much emphasis on structure partially because he is insecure about himself and how the world will function without out it, but that certain structures are nonsensical, dysfunctional, or sometimes conflicting with his morals. As long as Horikoshi doesn’t kill his character development, I feel like all will be well, but this is especially worth mentioning because it might not go well. My least favorite thing in the world would be for Iida to become Horikoshi’s scapegoat for Hero Society’s flaws instead of realizing he’s being controlled.
favorite line
“I’m the class representative! I’m worried about my classmates! Not just Bakugo!”
brOTP
The Iida - Izuku - Ochako friendship is the backbone of the show… we stan an iconic trio. I highkey need Ochako and Iida to spend more time together tho because we do know they’re both in it for Izuku…
OTP
This is tricky. I don’t really have an OTP for Iida. Though I really do appreciate his relationship with Aoyama. I like the idea of it because Iida is one of the only people who doesn’t treat Aoyama like he’s a wierdo (even if the other kids aren’t necessarily mean about it, Iida just straight up doesn’t seem to mind). They’re both quirky (ha) in their own ways, and I think they could understand each other very well. Aoyama also admires and has seen Iida’s best qualities through their bonding in the provisional license exam… The start of something beautiful? Maybe.
Additionally, I think that his interactions with Todoroki in the Hero Killer Arc were actually surprising - I’d at least like to see them become friends but I feel like the gestures they did for each other were really meaningful and that they could possibly have a nice relationship - they both have a lot in common w/ dealing with anger from trauma that they’ve been through, and I would like to see how they connect over that.
I’d also like to see Iida’s interactions with Inasa because I feel like they have similar flaws and strengths, but they’re different enough that it would bring an interesting dynamic to their relationship. The main issue with Iida is that he’s really only close to Izuku, so it’s hard to judge other pairings, though Aoyama is probably the one I like best.**
** I do enjoy Iideku content! But it mirrors, to a tee, a real life friendship that I can ONLY see as strictly platonic, so it doesn’t quite get there as an OTP for me. It’s still a good and wholesome ship that I enjoy seeing.
nOTP
Really not a fan of romantic Iida/Ochako, whatever their ship name is. This may sound harsh, but it feels like a throwaway pairing for people who prefer Izuku with someone else. I don’t feel they have any romantic chemistry, and it’s honestly sad but they both clearly have more interest in Izuku, so like… why. In general, I don’t really enjoy Iida with most of the girls because 1) for me, there’s really only been subtext with boys, so I read Iida as gay currently, and 2) I really again feel like they come off as throwaway pairings. Also Bakugo/Iida or Mineta/Iida because why would you or me or anyone ever.
random headcanon
Iida grew up wanting to be a knight and like played with wooden swords and broke his glasses often which is why he has a wall of backups in his room.
unpopular opinion
He did nothing wrong w/ Stain except be a lil’ reckless, and Aizawa and all the rest of the adults were really shitty to him and the other kids about how they handled an impossibly complicated and horrible situation. Their reactions set Iida’s character growth, back, not forward. I’m especially mad that he thinks he’s in danger of becoming like Stain because of how hero society twists the definition of “villainy” to mean “breaking the rules at any point ever.”
song i associate with them
“The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World is the vibe I want him to embrace
