I‘d really like them to not shy away from the idea that this can be one of all the AUs that exist as validated in canon. A retelling’s not bad and I’m glad they decided to go the updating stuff way (well, except for the flipphones they will be missed) but leaving it open to being a similar world to the game’s leaves them with so much freedom to tweak small stuff, other than the needed adaptational tweaks.
