Idk which mf who grew up with depressed parents needs to hear it but, washing your face is worth the effort. Brushing your teeth is worth the effort. Showering more than once a week, going outside, leaving your room, getting out of bed, changing into clean clothes (even if they're just another set of pyjamas), changing the bedsheets - it's all worth it.
It isn't easy. It isn't always an option - especially if you're dealing with physical disability on top of your mental health. But I promise, it's worth it.
#water world#V (it/she)#recovery#there are lots of situations where these behaviours wouldn't be modelled by your parents -#- I'm just pulling from our experience here.#these are all things that we grew up saying ''why would i do that. what's the point.''#and now as an adult who's working towards healing and recovery - we're realising how important all of this is.#sun screen shouldn't be a luxury. clean clothes shouldn't be a luxury. a tidy room shouldn't be a luxury.#of course there are going to be situations in which they are. the intersection between mental health + physical health + poverty is vicious#but they SHOULDN'T be. do you understand what I'm saying.#all of this can be SO hard. but IF you Can - it's worth it.
