One Hour Hero
I've had this desire to put my ADHD to work and not only document some of my video game playing so that I remember which games I've played and whether I liked them or not (and why!) but maybe also make that visible to others. It'll also mean my jumping around from game to game has some sort of purpose besides forcibly breaking me from my old, unhealthy achievement hunter mentality.
I started with a YT account where I'd record myself playing the first hour of games, but it ate a lot of memory, took a lot of time, and just generally didn't scratch the itch. But here? Here I can write. And tag. And search and share.
So welcome (back) to One Hour Hero. One hour of gameplay and my opinions about it.
Ratings are based entirely on how I felt at the end of the hour:
Keep Playing- games I'm going to keep around a while longer
Conditionally Play It Again- games I'll keep around to play if the urge hits
Maybe Keep Playing- I haven't decided yet, but that's not a bad thing.
Put It Away- I'm not interested in continuing and will immediately uninstall.
Didn't Even Finish the Hour- something about it just made it not worth the time to finish
Get This Out of My Memory- I wish I'd never pressed start.
#one hour hero#video games#in general#prioritizing games leaving soon and games that just released on gamepass#gamepass#but also a couple random games from my backlog#and also the first and last in the list alphabetically#there are currently 644 games to get through#and that's not even counting pc or ps games#which i might also do#i am primarily an xbox player#idgaf about your console wars or if pc is better

Pairing: Fem!reader x Denki (established relationship) Genre: Fluff CW: Swearing WC: 644
Day 3 of To Halloween with Love Event
A/N: First MHA fic and it's a drabble about this dork lmao
"Babe!" You called out.
...
"Babe!" You yelled out once again. Maybe he didn't hear you? You were currently digging through your closet and his friends are over tonight... Yeah, he probably didn't hear you if he's too busy playing games or catching up with them.
Getting out of the closet you see that the door's been closed the whole time - Denki must've closed it when he let them in. Opening it you're met with distant chatter and movement from everyone in the living room, "Babe! Denki! Come here!"
Immediately the pitter patter of feet come bumbling your way, "Waffup, my wove?" (Wassup, my love?) His face was stuffed with something that you didn't care to think about as a more pressing question was on your mind.
He leaned against the doorway, looking at you expectantly as he vigorously chewed and watched as you scrambled back into the closet. "I- I swear I left it in here... Have you-"
"Have I what?" He comes up behind you as you dig through the piles of clothes that you've scattered across the floor. "Woah, what's going on? We cleaning our closet out? Thought we didn't do that till spring..."
"No- I- Have you seen the bags of candy I put in here? I tried to hide them from Buzz (your dog) but maybe I put it in the other closet?"
...
You turn around as you're met with silence - Denki was never silent. Your stare bores holes into him as he blushes red like a tomato. You know your boyfriend well enough by now to know that silence was basically a confession in and of itself.
"Den-"
"Nope! Hahaha! I don't- Hmm..." His acting is hilariously bad as he scratches his chin and pretends to think. "I don't think I've seen any candy babe. You sure you bought it-"
"Denki Kaminari."
"Yep. Yes ma'am. Right away ma'am." He stiffens at your tone and does as he always does when he knows he's done something wrong, try to make it up to you - aka he's going to get more goddamn candy if it pleases his lady. "So stupid of me, really. Sheesh, how could I-"
"Denki... seriously." You roll your eyes with a small chuckle at how dumb this man gets for you.
"Yes, my queen!"
"Denki!" You flush as he yells as loud as fucking siren - running to shut the door your face turns hot. Oh god, what if everyone heard that? You're stopped as Kaminari swoops in to block you, deftly sliding his foot in between and in turn wincing as it gets squished.
He gives you puppy dog eyes as you attempt to kick him away and push him out of the doorway, "I love you so much, y/n..." It's so stupid how lovesick he looks as he's getting punched and trampled by you.
"You're so dumb!" Flushed completely red at this point you see Denki smile before using his actual strength to push the door open just enough to catch you in a small kiss.
"Guys! C'mon! Clean up those wrappers! We have to go get more candy!" Finally, he lets you slam the door closed as he yells to his friends. Of course, they ate it all...
"Why're we getting more? We just had like a ton..." You hear the muffled voice of Kirishima and the others as they walk past.
"It wasn't for us. Now we have to get some more for the actual kids." He's leaning his back against the door as they all pass by. The front door beeps as it opens and you press your ear up to the door to make sure you're in the clear.
*knock knock knock* "Love you." You can practically hear the smirk on his lips.
"Just-" You sigh as your heart calms down. "Don't get too much candy, dumbass."
A/N: First MHA fic and it's a cutesy Denki fic lmao, honestly, I thought it'd be Dabi or Shiguraki lmao, love getting into a fandom when the source has already ended. If this gets some good numbers I'll do more MHA and start a taglist. Also doing a double upload for this event tonight bc I didn't have time yesterday ;-;

oh this is really funny i just went on an entire adventure forcibly shoving the entire war games/blockbuster/under the hood/titans tower era of comics into a specific framework of months. (war games starts in nov/dec, under the hood starts late feb/early march and ends in late june. i am not taking critique on this)
please forgive me for hijacking this post with my rambling uh. thoughts about when titan's tower took place are under the cut.
the tl;dr is that it was during under the hood either during issues 8-9 or between 10-11.
comic timeline-wise, titans tower definitely takes place during under the hood. under the hood immediately jumps to the one year later event when it ends, which takes place around teen titans issue 34 (titans tower is issue 29).
titans tower must take place after under the hood issue 7 (batman #641). this is where jason reveals his identity to bruce--bruce did not know who jason was prior to this, though it's possible he had suspicions.
titans tower must take place before under the hood issue 11 (batman #648). from here up until the end of the arc all take place in the same night as the final confrontation.
okay, so what happens in the issues between then?
uth #8 - bruce investigates jason's coffin. alfred reminisces on who jason was. current-day red hood jason does not show up at all during this issue.
uth #9 - jason fucks with bruce by blowing up a building, jason fucks with black mask by launching a rocket launcher into his skyscraper, black mask gets fed the fuck up and the issue ends with deathstroke showing up. during the issue, we get told that jason's changed tactics from enlisting black mask's men to indiscriminately killing them. this implies a not insignificant passage of time between this issue and issue #7.
uth #10 - deathstroke sends a group of villains i've never heard of before or since to go take jason down, jason and bruce team up, jason kills captain nazi, bruce resolves to end things.
titan's tower probably happened during issue 8-9 of under the hood. there's a lot of wriggle room on how much in-universe time elapses during these two issues. this is after bruce has figured out that jason is the red hood but they're in a bit of an unstable status quo. bruce is actively trying to stop jason (as seen by the beginning of issue 9) but jason is still many steps ahead. i think he can squeeze out some time to go pay tim a visit, theoretically. since jason isn't on-screen in issue #8, maybe he was in san fransisco.
this also offers additional potential motivation for why jason went to titan's tower: to reaffirm to bruce that red hood is jason. jason knowing about the new robin + how to get into the tower + how to incapacitate the other titans. this is all knowledge that shows jason is familiar with the vigilante scene. (this is also why i like the interpretation that jason painted "jason todd was here" on the wall with his own blood btw. it's suitably dramatic for him, and tim was not visibly bleeding enough to leave that much blood behind. or jason just used red paint. also feasible.)
another thing worth noting is that issue #7 was batman #641. issue #8 was batman #645. batman #642-644 involved bruce going on completely unrelated to red hood adventures that i've only very briefly skimmed. (also the joker is there for some reason, even though he should really be in jason's custody at this point in the timeline.) if bruce has time to be doing whatever he was there, jason probably had time to beat the shit out of tim.
alternatively, titan's tower happened between issues 10 and 11. this is admittedly a bit of a stretch. this is after jason and bruce's team-up, which you can interpret as the moment jason decides to go through with the final confrontation at all. in issue #7 he doesn't bring up the joker or his death at all, he's focused on how he understands gotham better than bruce does. this is in line with what talia suggests he does in red hood: lost days issue #6 (cross the line, take gotham from bruce, be a better batman than him, etc.)
the thought process is basically: during hush jason sees bruce and doesn't see the regret he's looking for -> decides that bruce must not have loved him like jason thought he did -> goes through with the 'be a better batman plan -> issue #10 happens, jason sees that bruce does still love him enough to help/try to save him -> jason sets up the final confrontation to test the extent of this love
jason, as he's doing that, could decide to take care of other loose ends (like taking down the rest of black mask's empire, as he does in issue #11.) other loose ends like beating up that new robin.
so yeah. titan's tower is during under the hood, specifically around issues 8-10.
notes on the other things you mentioned:
i am frankly unsure how canon this is but tt au fanfics often has jason getting to the tower through zeta tubes, which cuts down the time from a 5 hr flight to an instant teleportation. i think jason being able to access and use superhero tech to cut down on travel time in general is a concept that Makes Sense.
either way i think the entire thing would only take jason 24 hours to carry out at the very most. for how long that takes to plan, honestly he might have had 'confront the new robin' on his bucket list ever since the lost days issue where talia told him about tim. he had plenty of time between hush and the opening of uth to hammer out a plan.
infiltrating the superhero tower is honestly not that hard tbh. villains do it like every other week in the bits of the teen titans run that i've read so far.
honestly the reason why i think titan's tower is bullshit is the content of what they discuss. (and the fact that i think jason simply would not care about tim that much. but whatever.) here's what jason says in his opening:
you were this kid, worried about how batman was spiraling down into darkness. you spent weeks tracking the dark night. solving a mystery no one else could. you discovered who he was behind that mask. millionaire bruce wayne.
respectfully jason how the fuck did you know this. where did you get this information from. tim drake is not announcing his robin origin story from the rooftops. did talia tell you?? does the league of assassins have the fucking manor and batcave bugged?????? HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS. WHY DO YOU KNOW THIS. JASON. EXPLAIN YOURSELF.
i don't actually know why i wrote this final section but i like hearing myself talk so here are some quick bullet points about jason's other crimes and actions in that era.
jason slicing tim's throat was during hush, batman #618. it was mild enough that catwoman stopped the bleeding successfully on site and tim was in no rush to get stitches.
jason stabbing tim was in the chest, not the stomach. this was battle for the cowl issue #2-3. i forget. i'm defending jason on this one tim was actively beating him with a crowbar. self defense. good for you jason. maybe don't shoot the 10 year old though.
nightwing impersonation was nightwing #118-122. i don't have anything to add to this uh. brothers in blood sure was an arc that happened.
i honestly have no idea what the 'bs plan with kids' is referencing but the only other big thing involving jason that happened in that era was seeing red (green arrow #69-72) with mia dearden/speedy. was a good read.
jason also shows up in outsiders #44-46 and he doesn't even kill anyone in that one. he's actively trying to help a hero! good for him!
i dont accept the titans tower incident as canon, not for any jason apologist reason, but because genuinely im so fucking confused when it happened.
like obviously it cant be before UTRH, because jasons identity is known already.
during UTRH? youre telling me a budding crime lord who is constantly having to do shit in his area and keep up with all his insane plans has time to go all the way to san fran (roughly 5 hours by flight, MINIMUM), make enough preparations to infiltrate a damn superhero tower, beat a kid up, and head back home- all without compromising any work?? i mean sure i GUESS that can kinda sorta work????
after UTRH? there is absolutely no way that jason suffered grievous enough injury to Fucking Die, courtesy of his DAD, and was fine enough to fight tim. like even with comic book logic thats absolutely deranged recovery speed. and to my knowledge the teen titans issue was supposed to be set around UTRH time so it cant be that jason took the time to recover first and Then decided to fight a child.
like im being so fr ill accept jason slicing tims neck, ill accept him putting a batarang in tims stomach, ill accept him screwing dick over with pretending to be nightwing, ill accept whatever that bs plan involving the kids was that i still need to read about- because regardless of garbage characterization or Whatever, i still know when they happen. but titans tower incident?? titans tower incident???? i am sincerely asking WHEN THE FUCK DOES IT HAPPEN??????

hmmm i think this is the right place yes blog is big clap hawks with “quit smiling at me, i can’t stop messing up my sentences when you look at me like that.” as if he was in the middle of saying some pun/pickup line?
oh my god thank you i do be working hard to be big clap - this being my second hawks request has me reeling i simp for this man
A/N: i may have googled bird related pick up lines for this so apologies in advance
fluff prompts: “Quit smiling at me, I can’t stop messing up my sentences when you look at me like that.”
words: 644
Dating the current number two hero in Japan sure was, interesting, to say the least.
Keigo, better known by his hero name Hawks, has been nothing but amazing to you throughout your whole relationship. Meeting through mutual acquaintances, you two were casual for a while before you both realised you’d caught feelings for the other big time. He asked if you wanted to make it official and the rest is history.
Only knowing him through the view the public had on him up until that point, you viewed him as being more cocky or big headed due to his hero status. However, that just was not the case at all. As much as he has unfaltering confidence, more likely than not he acts completely different to what you had expected.
He’s cute, that you’ve always known, but you never expected him to be so dorky.
Any chance he gets, he plays a game with you. One of which he acts like you’re not dating or practically living together anymore, and tries to hit on you. The key word being tries.
Unfortunately you can never take him seriously, some of the pick up lines he uses you just know he spend time looking them up to find the perfect one. If he makes you smile or laugh then he automatically sees it as a win, but is constantly trying to one up himself with this game of his.
When you’re making breakfast in the morning and he’s just waking up, he’ll saunter in and lean over the opposite end of the kitchen island than you, hitting you with a “Hey baby, wanna fly south for the winter?”.
If he’s patrolling and you’re out running errands or finishing up work, he’ll just so happen to be passing by that area and approach you with a “I may be the bird, but I bet I can ruffle your feathers.”. Bonus points if he tries to impress you more by flying over and landing in front of you.
Coming home from a late night of filling out paperwork, with you and a home cooked meal waiting for him once he crosses the threshold, even with the exhaustion clear on his face he’ll try and slip one in. “I’ve been...” he’ll start, watching you with your wide smile as you take off his protective gear and help him out of his jacket.
“You’ve been what, baby?” you ask softly, the smile never leaving you as your hands reach up to cup his cheeks in your hand. “I’ve been owl all night thinking about you..” he finishes, before you hear him mumble a “Fuck” under his breath.
“That wasn’t right!!!” he huffs, looking down at you as he puffs his cheeks out slightly, you can’t help but think he looks adorable. It only makes you smile wider, which clearly was not what he wanted yet. “Quit smiling at me, I can’t stop messing up my sentences when you look at me like that.”
You let out a small hum as your hand gently runs through his hair a few times, now actively trying to keep your expression as neutral as possible. “Sorry Keigo, you know those lines always crack me up..” you try and encourage him. “Why don’t you try again? I’ll pretend I didn’t hear the first one”.
He smiles then, his arms wrapping around your waist as he lets you keep petting his hair. “I’ve been thinking about you owl night, Y/N” he tells you much more confidently, the pride evident on his face.
One of your brows raise as you realise what he’s hinting at. “Oh have you now?” when you catch him nodding, you give his lips a quick kiss before leading him over to the kitchen table where his dinner waits for him.
“Well eat up first, then you can tell me all about it.”

What would you honestly do if you had a million dollars? >> I honestly do not know, because that’s an utterly inconceivable amount of money to me and it’d probably stress me out. Even if we use it on a house and a new car and such-not, what happens after the million runs out? Maybe it seems stupid but if there’s one thing I’m leery of, it’s the allure of large sums of money and the insidious little mental changes that come with it. Do you pretend to be something you’re not to make friends? >> No, because I don’t want to be friends with people I feel like I have to lie to. When was the last time someone disappointed you? >> Sparrow threw out the extra slaw from last night’s dinner and I was disappointed because I’d planned on using it for a sandwich today. I honestly didn’t expect her to toss it, she knows I like slaw. Are you still in school? >> No. Where do you see yourself 10 years from now? >> I’ve got my hands full enough with this year, thanks.
Are you more of a shy or outgoing person? >> I am a reserved, distrustful, chronically lonely and chronically dissatisfied person who is sometimes in the mood to be friendly and sometimes in the mood to be a hermit. “Shy” or “outgoing” doesn’t really factor into it.
How many hours of sleep per night do you usually get? >> Anywhere from four to nine. There is no “usual”. Would you rather listen to new music or the classics? >> I’d rather listen to whatever I feel like listening to. Can you do a cartwheel? >> Yeah. What does friendship mean to you in your life? >> I don’t know. I’m not sure what I’d even want from a friend. There’s too much about me that is contrary to friendship. What is the closest yellow thing next to you? >> A candle. Do you currently feel any sadness? >> I feel a lot of sadness. Are you more of an athlete or artist? >> If it were a spectrum, I’d say I’m closer to “artist” than “athlete” because I hate athletics while art can be fun. Is it hard for you to break the ice with new people? >> It’s not difficult, per se; I’m just not always interested in doing it. Do you judge people by groups or by individuals? >> I prefer to judge people individually, but sometimes I use shortcuts (which is basically what stereotypes are). What do you think was the stupidest movie ever created? >> I don’t give a fuck, dude. Who is your hero and why? >> I don’t have one, because I’m not interested in heroes. If you could be someone else for a week, who would it be? >> I don’t want to be anyone else, no matter how horrible I feel about myself. I only know how to be me and I’m not interested in learning how to be someone else (who might be just as dissatisfying as being myself, or even more, so why go through all that effort?). What do you want people to remember you for when you die? >> I don’t give it much thought. Do you always respond to chain letters? >> I don’t get chain letters. Would you rather text someone or call them? Text unless we need to have an involved conversation. I hate typing long paragraphs with that tiny keyboard. I have no idea how people take surveys on their phone without throwing it across the room every five minutes. <-- (So basically, I prefer having my involved conversations on my computer, not my phone. Calling is still not an option.) What are you afraid of most? >> --- Do you spend too much time online? >> If I thought I was spending too much time online, I’d do something about it. Are you the type to procrastinate? >> I can be. What is your biggest annoyance? >> *shrugs irritably* Do you use any drugs? >> Aside from alcohol, no. Do you believe that you’ll always be a kid at heart? >> Hm. Are you currently in a relationship? >> I am in several relationships. What do you like to do for fun? >> Play video games. Do you have a job? >> No. Can you type without looking at the keyboard? >> Yeah. What is something you want to improve on this year? >> --- Do you have any pets? >> We have a cat. What is your dream car? >> --- How many times a day do you get angry? >> I usually only get angry when I’m depressed, and then I get angry at everything. (It’s that intensity-of-emotion thing -- if I’m feeling one kind of intense emotion, depression, then all the other emotions I feel are equally intense.) If you could, would you want to stay young forever? >> No. Being young hasn’t done me any favours. Aside from my body bouncing back relatively easily from all the stupid shit I did in my twenties, I guess. Are the books better or worse than the movies? >> This comparison bullshit is so pointless to me. In my opinion, a book and a movie might be telling the same story, but they tell them differently for a reason. You can like both, or you can like one or the other, or hell, you can like neither one. Don’t see why it has to be any more complicated than that unless you’re literally the author of the book or something. Are you afraid of the dark? >> No. If you could eat any food you want right now, what would it be? >> I don’t want to eat right now. Are you a racist person? >> I assume not. Do you ever feel like people use you? >> Yeah. Do you keep in contact with your friends during the summer? >> --- What is your favorite month of the year? >> October or December, I guess. Does bad grammar get on your nerves? >> No. People who complain about “bad” grammar get on my nerves. If you were going to die right now, what would your last words be? >> *shrug* Ain’t nobody even here to listen to them except for the Inworlders, so...??? Does Jeapordy make you feel dumb? >> No. Random trivia isn’t a strength of mine, but that doesn’t mean I’m dumb. What is/was your worst subject in school? >> --- Are you a sarcastic person? >> I can be. What role does religion play in your life? >> *shrug* Can you sleep with your eyes open? >> No, but I knew someone who did when I was young and that shit was wild.

Atwood Living Redux - Lounge Set for The Sims 4
Atwood was my first large, complete set I have made for TS4. It was also made with an early version of TSRW and because if that it too has been remade. I am happy I did it though, because there are some key improvements that I am really happy i got around to doing. I love this set and still use it, but even moreso now I made the adjustments i did. I bet you all will enjoy it as much now as well.
Some things you need to know:
These are completely new objects so although some of the file names are the same, they will not replace the originals if you have the 2 sets in different folders.
Updated fabric to reflect my current textures
Colour palette updated
Remade pillow mesh as shrunken version of my larger mesh, much nicer now
round coffee table is a bit less wide so sims can get around it a bit easier
Remade mirrors so they have consistent profiles, just different diameters
Room divider got biggest overhaul. How only 3 gaps wide, but support medium slot items. You need to have small divider in-game as that contains the textures for other 2 sizes
Updated candles for pets. Ensure you always have largest size in-game for textures and tuning for other sizes
Accent chair remade and much nicer now
I discontinued the plain fabric pillows as I never use them
Updates:
13/12/2017: updated for the 12/12/17 patch that broke some surfaces
The Buy items feature:
basegame compatibility
non-default
25 meshes in total with between 10 and 44 colour options
find items easily using phrase "Atwood" in search bar (try this tutorial to easily find my sets)
style (found under "modern" tag) and colour filter compatible
custom thumbnails
Pricing and polycount as follows: - 3 seat sofa ($625, 1260 polys) - Loveseat ($400, 1052 polys) - Armchair ($310, 725 polys) - Accent chair ($350, 644 polys) - Ottoman ($350, 946 polys) - Catalogue Console ($320, 663 polys) - Anemone coffee table ($220, 510 polys) - Anemone side table ($190, 550 polys) - Gloss side table ($145, 618 polys) - Geometric wood table ($150, 94 polys) - Acrylic side table ($165, 450 polys) - Room divider in small/medium/large ($201/202/203, 138/162/186 polys) - Ferntastic! Super Mario Odyssey
To say that this is one of the best platformers we’ve seen in years is an understatement. Super Mario Odyssey is the quintessential platformer/collectathon/adventure game that sets the bar so high that any game proceeding it will have a difficult time living up to the incredible standard Odyssey set forth.
I’ve always thought that Super Mario 3D World was my favorite Mario game ever since it was released around 2013; it featured a surprising amount of content and showcased some of the best level designs, music, and visuals that any preceding Mario game wish they had. While many Mario fans and Wii U owners were hoping for a “true” 3D Mario platformer, 3D World still satisfied my wish for a full-fledged Mario experience.
However, it seems Odyssey has overthrown 3D World; no actually, Odyssey decimated and shattered any hope of 3D World from continuing to be my favorite Mario experience of all time. Not only did it feature equally well-designed levels and dazzlingly visuals, but it topped it all off with an energetic and whimsical soundtrack that will always send goosebumps down your arms.
Right when you set foot onto the Casade Kingdom, one of the first kingdoms in the game, you notice right off the bat that Odyssey excels at making great first impressions. The musical score demonstrates how much power it can delve onto your emotions, and the kingdom’s surroundings showcases how visually stunning the game is. In fact, the entire game is filled with first impressions. It feels like every kingdom you explore just constantly surprises you, and your curiosity will keep you drawn into the entire experience.
The game’s difficulty is just right; it is a comfortable game to traverse around, but it also will challenge how you maneuver Mario through these amazingly sprawling and creative levels. What isn’t difficult is the controls; they’re so fine-tuned and intuitive that maneuvering Mario will become second-nature in no time. This also makes losing at some of the later levels feel fair and not at the fault of some faulty game design. The only complaint I could give the game is the cumbersome motion controls that the detached joy-cons seem to use. It’ll take some getting use to when you’re wanting to spin Cappy (Mario’s hat companion) in circles or toss him in a certain direction. While it is possible to pull off these tricks without the aid of motion controls, it is much more convenient to swing the joy-cons in a certain direction rather than twirling Mario around and toss Cappy that way. Regardless, the game’s difficulty and controls create a rather comfortable experience throughout the more than 20 hours worth of content Odyssey provides.
The collecting of moons is one of my favorite aspects of the game. The game has over 500 moons for you to collect and it somehow doesn’t make it feel like a chore to collect them all. Mind you, I haven’t built up the courage to collect all 880 moons (minus the ones you can purchase from the in-game store known as Crazy Cap), but it hasn’t stopped me from collecting 644 moons that I currently possess in-game. The collectible aspect is the driving force of the game and will either make or break your experience with it, but I’ve grew up playing games with collectibles such as the “Jiggies” in Banjo-Kazooie or the Star Coins in numerous Mario games so it was really enjoyable to scavenge so many moons in Odyssey.
Super Mario Odyssey is a game that excels in a number of ways: its beautiful visual design, its blasting and resounding musical score, and its intricate and enjoyable gameplay that will leave you hooked for hours on end. Its current asking price of $60 is being way to generous, honestly; the level of quality that was put into this game really feels like it’s priceless. If you’re looking for a good reason to pick up a Nintendo Switch, look no further.

Words: 644
Summary: Loki has recently joined the Avengers and Peter, being the adorable puppy he is, has been doing everything in his power to befriend the seemingly unreachable god. Loki, on the other hand, has been doing everything he can do avoid Peter. Locking himself in his room, purposefully missing meals, and ignoring invitations to group events such as movie nights. However, the two have been assigned on a mission together and end up trapped under a bunch of debris. They make a call to the rest of the team and are currently waiting to be rescued. Peter takes this opportunity to try and communicate with Loki.
_____
“Hey, Mr. Loki? I know you’re kind of ignoring me but can’t we just… be friends?"
Silence.
"Look, we're kind of stuck together here, so we might as well make the best of it. Besides, we can use this opportunity to talk. Figure out our similarities and use it to become friends."
Silence.
"Or you could just not talk to me... that works too."
Peter wasn’t used to the silent treatment. He practically lived off of the energy he got when people talked with him, so this was kind of making it hard for him. Mindlessly he began to fidget with his hands.
It took him all of a few minutes to realize they were going to be stuck here for quite a while. Slowly, he began to panic. His suit seemed to trapping him, the room almost heating up around him causing him to sweat. Then he felt like he couldn’t breathe. He started taking faster breathes, trying to make up for the lack of air. Without realizing it he curled into himself, resting against a metal beam behind him as he tried to regain composure without much progress.
Suddenly, a voice brings him out of his thoughts.
“Breathe.”
Surprised by the sudden sound Peter does the exact opposite and stops breathing.
“Not like that. You’ll die if you don’t breathe. Watch me and breathe with me. In. out. In. out.”
Following his instructions, Peter slowly started breathing normally again. The room seemed to go back to its normal temperature and he was able to support himself again rather than leaning against the beam.
“Thank you, Mr. Loki.”
“It was nothing Spider Child. And don’t call me that.”
“Okay Mr. Loki, sir.”
Peter smiles as the god sighs, obviously realizing that Peter wasn’t going to stop with the name.
“Alright. I’ll play along with your talking to… find out our similarities. Just try not to freak out again. Stark would kill me if he came back and you were dead.”
“Alright, Mr. Loki. So… what do you like to do?”
Loki sighed. Obviously the child had no idea what he was doing. But he needed something to pass the time, and his magic had been drained from the mission so he wouldn’t be able to teleport them out for a while. Meaning he’d need to play along for a while. “Well, child, I quite enjoy reading. I also enjoy learning magic and creating potions. And the occasional prank or two.”
“Wait, you? Pranking?”
“Yes, child. If you haven’t realized yet, I am the god of mischief after all.”
“Whoa! That’s so cool! Shuri and I like to pull pranks on the team when she’s over. But I don’t get to do them much. We should… well if you’d want to…”
“Prank together?”
“Yeah!”
“Hmm… I’ll think about it.” Loki found the child’s company surprisingly comforting. With the team still wary of him from the attack on New York, it was nice to have someone who actually seemed genuinely kind to him.
Suddenly, they’re interrupted by the sound of Tony’s thrusters from outside. They hear him shout “alright, clear away from the southern section, I’m blasting through” before a hole suddenly is blasted in a section to the left of them. Tony flies through and steps out of his suit to hug Peter. “You alright kid? Reindeer Games didn’t try to attack you or anything?”
“I’m fine Mr. Stark. We both are.”
“Alright. If I find out he did anything to you he’s off the team.”
“Honestly Stark, I didn’t know you thought so lowly of me. I wouldn’t hurt a child.”
Tony huffs at him before returning to the suit and grabbing Peter, carrying him out of the recently opened debris pile. As the sound of the thrusters slowly fades away Loki and hear Peter telling Stark that he can bring himself home.

Starbucks Changes Rewards Stars System
Starbucks has announced they are changing their rewards stars system, which for most people will mean its easier to earn free drinks. People seem to either love or hate the taste of Starbucks coffee. I personally like it, and have found the latte combination I like best. I don’t do the frappuccino thing, or the sugar-laced strawberries and creak drinks. But I also enjoy the in store experience. Anyone who has to work remotely, or spends days on the road knows finding a place you can work efficiently is vital. And for me that is Starbucks.
Earning Starbucks Stars gets to benefits – a free drink every 15 stars and Gold status after 50 starts (within a single year) which then gave you a free extra espresso show, and free whipped cream, if you wanted either.
Starbucks Changes Rewards Stars
Under the current system you earn one star per purchase which could be a coffee, or an entire order of 5 coffees. It didn’t matter.
This led to some people putting through large orders individually in order to get the most stars out of that transaction. You could also game the system slightly by buying something cheap, the chocolate coins and biscuits at the till could earn you a start for £.50 or £1, but for the majority of people they would earn a star for the purchase of 1 or 2 drinks meaning £3-£6 per star.
The New Stars System
The new system has changed, to what will ultimately be a fairer system for the majority of customers. You now earn Stars based on your spend value. For every £1 you spend, you collect 3 Stars.
A free drink has changed to 150 stars. Gold level has increased to 450 Stars within a year. They’ve also introduced the benefit from the USA rewards system – a free drink on your birthday!
If an average drink is £3 this means very little change from the original system, Gold status would have required a spend of 50 purchases – around £150. That same £150 under the new system would earn you 450 stars which would also get you Gold level.
But the majority of people will benefit. Those that just buy their drinks, whether it’s 1 or 5, all under the same transaction. And used to earn just one star for it.
So overall, seeing that Starbucks Changes Rewards Stars is a good thing, and think it will mean most people will benefit and get the benefits of more perks more often. Track your stars and upcoming benefits through the Starbucks mobile app. There’s no date given for the change yet, but expect it soon before their big Haloween promotion

Tottenham 0-1 Manchester Utd: Marcus Rashford scores winner as David De Gea denies Spurs
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would face a wave of good vibes, emotions with misty eyes and weak opponents. His strength was the anti-Mourinho, the man who reduced the simplistic pleasure and flair to the football of Manchester United .
So what do we think of this, the game that brings its flawless run to six games in all leagues, the best start for a Manchester United Manager? What do we have to do to win a team that is considered by many to be the title candidate, against the manager, many of whom think he should be king of Old Trafford next season, Mauricio Pochettino? What should we do if Tottenham played Manchester United so completely and the manager had previously considered the master tactic of the game earlier in the season?
This was a side of Solskjaer that has not yet been seen. Smart, smart, calculating, but not negative. I need an exceptional performance from goalkeeper David De Gea to get him on his way, but there is no shame about that either.

De Gea recorded 11 saves in the second half Tottenham chased the game – the most he did in the Premier League competition without turret –
United worked hard, defended himself resolutely and Marcus Rashford took the escape opportunity needed to scoop the points. Most would say that Tottenham is currently a better team than Manchester United, just a tactical triumph – and a zero for Solskjaer in his direct settlement with Pochettino.
Both managers denied that this match was a public hearing for the vacancy left by Jose Mourinho, but if results like this do not matter for United & # 39; s hierarchy, what does this mean?
The word is that the Manchester United players really want him to get the job permanently. and if this is true, they go well into it.
Imagine what the Manchester United goalkeeper would be if he were a man, he was allowed to use his upper limbs. This was one of those versions in which I first seemed to have been treated in the first place.
David van Gea puts a man in the competition to keep a clean slate for Manchester United at Wembley
Kane stretches to reach the Alli Pass in the last seconds, but can not connect Spurs becomes beaten at home
United keeper De Gea had a busy afternoon to keep the Spurs attackers in their Premier League clash
The Spaniard was forced to save Kane, Hereafter they lost Heung-Min Son to the Asia Cup with South Korea and missed Moussa Sissoko with what appeared to be a hamstring injury before the break, leaving them without a recognized, fit, defensive midfielder.
The most nerve-wracking sight of all, however, was Harry Kane's desperately slow walk through the tunnel when the contest ended, after a late collision with Phil Jones. The stadium was then almost emptied, except for the corner where United's players celebrated with their fans. Kane looked genuinely in pain. Without him and his son, Tottenham's season could unravel quite alarmingly. Pochettino said it would be a huge blow if he was gone for a long time. The equivalent of United would undoubtedly lose De Gea.
[Alle rechten voorbehouden]
The Talmenman of Tottenham stuck the ball in the back of the net, but his attempt was correctly excluded for offside Tottenham had no shot on target in the first – half, then United's goal peppered as a drunken paintball-feast in the second. De Gea was the same every time.
From whom did he save? From whom did I not save? Kane's feet, the head of his Alli, Kane's head, Alli's feet, Toby Alderweireld at the start, Fernando Llorente of eight meters, Kane from a free kick, Alli again, and Kane again. But if the enormous weight of the chances makes it sound like Solskjaer is lucky, he did not. He had a plan and it worked.
The goal of Rashford after 44 minutes would come. During the first half, Manchester United worked to get their vibrant three behind Tottenham's back: Rashford and Anthony Martial from broad, Jesse Lingard from deep through the middle. They did it almost twice well and then, just before the break, came the breakthrough.
Sissoko competes for possession with Paul Pogba during the first half of the match in Wembley on Sunday afternoon Pogba had plenty of time to look up and choose his target, saw Rashford run in a circle from the right, and picked it out perfectly. Hugo Lloris, the goalkeeper, tried to restore his position and was probably not set up because he wished the Rashford hit a low shot. He got his fingertips on it, but no more, and in that he went to the far corner.
It was no more than United earned, either. For all their fine movement and entrepreneurship, for their entire possession and impulse, Tottenham did not threaten the goal of United until after the break.
In the 11th minute, Toby Alderweireld could not make up for a deep Ashley Young cross that was met at the time by Lingard, while United had not had the best of the game, they had forced the best chances. the far post. He had better options, but went for the shot and shot the control over the head. Shortly after came two good saves from Lloris. For the first warrior played in Rashford, for the second another Trippier error late in Martial, who settled on a powerful, direct run, foiled by Lloris at the nearest post.
It would certainly have been different had Tottenham Harry Winks seemed confused: would he shoot if he would pass?
Tottenham has now lost to Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Wolves home, plus Arsenal and Watford away. That's four of the big six and more than half of the teams in the top 11. In the season that title-winning form and maybe not even the top four if the injury list continues to rise. With seven points separating the teams, Pochettino & # 39; s worry will not stop at Solskjaer who took his place at Old Trafford next season.

Mental Health Egg on Instagram
Well that is one way to get the public’s attention about mental health issues! On January 18th a mysterious Instagram account popped up with an image of a brown egg against a white background and using the handle @world_record_egg. The caption challenged the app users to like the post in order to surpass the IG record of likes set by Kylie Jenner (18 million), which it managed to do nearly three-fold.
The big reveal about what the brown egg would eventually hatch occurred just following the Superbowl game last weekend, which surprised the account’s 10 million followers. It appears that Mental Health America, a nonprofit organization advocating for mental health awareness for over a hundred years, used the social media stunt to address the stigma around mental health disorders. Interestingly, the organization used social media to home in on the fact that social media as a common source of emotional strife. An episode that aired on Hulu revealed the core message of the mental health egg on Instagram: “If you’re struggling too, talk to someone.”
This very creative promotional stunt was successful in gathering a huge audience using the tools of mystery and intrigue to captivate their attention for weeks. While many were disappointed in the ultimate reveal, others were pleased about opening up a public dialogue and awareness about mental health. For too long, the stigma attached to mental health disorders has prevented countless individuals from seeking the treatment they need and deserve.
Let’s Talk About the Impact of Social Media on Mental Health
That mental health egg on Instagram is on to something. Many people have grown to have a love/hate relationship with social media. Fear of mission out (FOMO) keeps people coming back, sometimes totaling hours a day, in spite of the residual effects it seems to leave them with. These can include feelings of inadequacy, envy, reduced self-confident, low self-esteem, and even hostility toward those with different political views. Users of social media want to be in the know, they want to stay current and relevant but at what cost?
A study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology found statistical significance between Facebook usage and compromised wellbeing. The study addresses the difference between the effects of face-to-face interactions and those on a computer app like Facebook. Social interaction is important for human wellness, providing a type of protective effect against depression, loneliness, substance abuse, and disease. However, online social interactions may not only decrease the opportunities for real life social interactions, but may increase all the above issues—depression, loneliness, substance abuse, and ill health. According to the study results, use of Facebook was associated with lower life satisfaction, a higher body mass index (i.e., fat), and poorer mental health.
As social media continues to pervade our daily lives, even if it does this with our reluctant consent, more attention should be paid to the way social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat actually make us feel. These sources of social input can manipulate our views, tastes, and perspectives through mob mentality, bullying, and shaming. People may soon feel a dissonance caused as they are slowly moving away from their core beliefs and values towards crowd pleasing ones. This can eventually take a toll on mental health, showing up in disorders like anxiety and depression.
Anxiety Disorder Explained
Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health disorders in America, with about 40 million people impacted by these each year. Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) features an irrational level of worry, beyond what a given situation would call for. The symptoms include intense fear, fatigue, irritability, ruminating over things, restlessness, concentration problems, constant worry, insomnia, headache and stomach problems, sweating, and palpitations.
Treatment for GAD includes a combination of treatment elements. These include psychotherapy, anti-anxiety medications such as benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Ativan), and holistic therapies. Holistic therapies that promote stress relief include massage therapy, mindfulness meditation, deep breathing exercises, yoga, gardening therapy, and regular exercise.
Depression Explained
Depression affects over 16 million adults in the U.S. each year, making it the second most prevalent mental health disorder. Major depressive disorder features persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or despair, fatigue, difficulty concentrating or making decisions, weight gain or loss, change in sleeping habits, slowed cognitive and motor functioning, irrational feelings of guilt or shame, and suicidal ideation.
Treatment for depression consists of an integrated approach that includes psychotherapy (cognitive behavioral therapy), antidepressant drug therapy, adjunctive therapies such as TMS therapy, and holistic activities. Holistic therapies that help depression include yoga, guided imagery, equine therapy, art therapy, mindfulness meditation, and regular exercise.
Reach Out to Someone
If you were inspired by the message of the mental health egg on Instagram you may be, or have a loved one, suffering with a mental health issue. There are several avenues to take in seeking professional help for a mental health disorder. These might include:
Your physician. The doctor will first complete a thorough physical exam and order blood work to determine whether the symptoms being experienced originate from a medical condition. If not, your doctor can either refer you to a psychotherapist or a psychiatrist, or he or she may simply prescribe medication and monitor your progress.
Mental health practitioner. A psychiatrist is able to prescribe medication and provide psychotherapy, and a psychotherapist is primarily accessed for one-on-one talk therapy or group therapy sessions.
Outpatient mental health clinic. Outpatient therapy, groups, medication management, and experiential activities are available as outpatient programs.
Residential mental health program. This level of care is appropriate for more severe mental health issues after outpatient care has not been successful. Residential programs provide a safe, supportive environment for individuals to engage in more intensive treatment.

22 New or Renovated Things Coming to Palms Resort
The owners of Palms, Red Rock Resorts (Station Casinos), is going all-in on the resort with a planned $485 million investment in a metric hell-ton of renovations and from-scratch offerings.
The sheer amount of newness is dizzying, so we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of changes at the Palms for your convenience. By “comprehensive,” of course, we mean “as comprehensive a list as we can muster while hammered.”
Love the Palms marquee? Spoiler: Don’t get attached.
1. Nightclub
Palms is partnering with Tao Group in a big way. For starters, Tao will operate a 29,000-square-foot nightclub in the former Rain space.
2. Dayclub Pool
Dayclubs are like nightclubs, but with more sunscreen. The dayclub at Palms, also operated by Tao Group, will be 70,000-square-feet and accommodate 5,000 people, most of whom will be sucking in their gut. The new dayclub will presumably be open year-round.
3. Lounge
Palms is bringing in another partner, Clique Hospitality, to operate a lounge. Think Clique Lounge at Cosmopolitan. Yes, that’s the lounge where O.J. Simpson behaved so badly he was banned from the Cosmopolitan for life. Let’s hope Palms upholds the policy.
Alize closes at the end of 2017, too. Hint: You’re probably pronouncing it wrong.
4. Bobby Flay Restaurant
Celebrity chef Bobby Flay will slap his name on a seafood and raw fish restaurant at Palms. His Bobby’s Burger Palace on The Strip is meh, but Mesa Grill has done well for Caesars Palace, and Flay knows his way around a chermoula, whatever that might be.
5. Mark Vetri Restaurant
Mark Vetri is apparently a legend in Philadelphia, and he’ll bring an Italian restaurant to Palms. When it comes to cuisines, there’s Italian and everything else, so we’re really looking forward to this one.
6. Michael Symon Restaurant
Yes, we broke this story weeks before anyone else, but we’re not about gloating, we’re about newness. Michael Symon is co-host of “The Chew” and will hopefully make Palms one of the few spots you can get decent BBQ in Las Vegas.
Michael Symon has a successful BBQ restaurant in Cleveland, a city very similar to Las Vegas. And if you managed to read that sentence without laughing, we’re truly impressed.
7. Vandal Restaurant
It’s another Tao Group collaboration, and this one has a record of success in New York. Vandal is known as a hotspot, despite mixed reviews about its food. Vandal’s been described as “specializing in mini-ramen, mini-burgers, mini-knishes and an assortment of ostensibly edible things that have been fried into balls.” They say that like it’s a bad thing!
8. High Limit Rooms
One of our favorite hangs at Palms is the high limit slot room, so we’re excited to hear it will be getting a revamp. There will also be a new high limit room for table games. Casinos have tried combining high limit slots and tables, but not successfully, so Palms is on the right track.
That wall is the former high limit slot room. Just trust us on this one.
9. Noodle Bar
Strolling through Palms, it’s obvious the resort has many, many Asian customers. They are coveted by casinos like Palms, and Gold Coast just across the street, so a noodle bar is sort of a required amenity.
10. Steakhouse
While Palms has always had a great steakhouse, we’re sort of happy we’ll never have to type “N9NE” again. That affectation aside, we enjoyed the place, but it was a leftover from an earlier era at Palms, and it’s time for some fresh meat.
Oh, all right, one last time: N9NE.
11. Front Desk Registration Area
It’s not the most glamorous part of a Las Vegas resort, but anything’s going to be better than the temporary space where guests are currently checking in.
These are what’s known as “aspirational stanchions.” Which would also make a great band name.
12. Renovated Casino
At the moment, the casino at Palms is 80% construction wall. The entire casino is getting an overhaul, and this blog loves it some new casino smell.
Palms is doing construction walls right.
13. Center Bar
It seems like only yesterday (four years, to be exact) the Social cocktail bar at Palms made its debut. Well, it’s out with the not-that-old and in with the new because Palms is getting a new center bar.
14. Hotel Rooms
Apparently, when the Fantasy tower at Palms went up, they neglected to finish 60 of the rooms. Well, they’re finishing them now.
15. Room Renovations
Palms plans to renovate 282 rooms and luxury suites. Fun fact: If you slept in one room every day, it would take you 282 days to sleep in all of the newly renovated rooms at Palms. We are a blog, not a fun fact machine.
China House says “Zàijiàn!” Hey, we’ve traveled. (To Google Translate.)
16. Spa
Palms has announced it will soon get an all-new spa with 16 treatment rooms. Currently, Palms has Drift Spa and Hammam. The Hammam at Palms, a co-ed Turkish bath, was the first in Las Vegas. We like our Turkish baths just “ed,” thank you very much.
17. Pearl Theater Overhaul
In the mix of all the renovations will be a refresh of the 2,600-seat Pearl Theater. We hear that when the theater opens after its renovation, guests will receive necklaces. We’ll wait.
18. Rooftop Social Club
Ghostbar was a blast, but it’s time for a new take on this popular rooftop haunt. Clique Hospitality will operate the new social club, which is different from a nightclub in that the word “social” seems to resonate with the kids, along with “fleek,” “bomb” and “allowance.”
No, you’re not getting bigger, the Palms casino is getting smaller. It’ll pass.
19. Buffet
If you’re spending $485 million to give your Las Vegas resort a facelift, it had better include the buffet. Bistro Buffet at Palms is getting retooled after closing in June 2017. During our visit, a guest was kvetching about receiving a direct mail piece with a buffet coupon. You’ll get your buffet soon enough, buddy, as will we all.
20. Covered Parking Spaces
Again, not glamorous, but 525 new covered parking spaces are nothing to sneeze at when summer temperatures in Las Vegas are comparable to the surface of Mercury.
21. Hotel Marquee
Hey, it’s not all good news. We love the Palms marquee. We’re hoping the new marquee keeps a lot of neon tube benders busy for years to come.
22. Porte Cochere
“Porte cochere” is a fancy way of saying “that place where you pull up to a hotel in your hooptie.” We’re only about 20% confident that word means what we think it means.
That’s about it! All the Palms renovations and new venues should debut in late 2018 or early 2019.
Our Captain Morgan-fueled list only covers what’s on the way, not what’s already happened.
For example, Palms recently opened a new cafe, the Lucky Penny.
Pennies are only considered lucky if you find them face up. Some things are non-negotiable.
The food at Lucky Penny was mixed bag, with some of the most exceptional Asian food and boozy shakes we’ve had anywhere.
Given the incredible Oreo-M-G shake (featuring Stoli vanilla vodka) at Lucky Penny, maybe you are getting bigger after all.
The veggie burger was a crushing disappointment, as was a dish called “Almost Boneless Chicken.” Really, if you’re going to do “almost boneless,” just go boneless. It’s an extra two minutes of preparation time, and well worth the effort to avoid lawsuits.
The desserts, though.
Nothing says “We need to wrap this up” like sharing a gratuitous dessert photo from Lucky Penny just to please the Pinterest gods.
A temporary dining option, Social Table, opened in the former Hooters space. Social Table goes away at the end of 2017.
The 14-screen movie theater complex at Palms is set for a massage.
We did leave planned meeting and convention space (18,000-square-feet worth) off our list, but only because it’s extraordinarily boring.
Red Rock Resorts seems confident its massive investment in Palms will pay off, calling it a “destination hybrid,” intended to appeal to both locals and tourists.
No word on whether the mushroom caps are staying or going. We predict going.
The company points to a strong economy in Las Vegas, and a growing population, as reasons the company is spending more on improvements to Palms than it cost to purchase it in the first place ($313 million).
Whether Palms can regain its former glory remains to be seen, but damn, we’ve got a lot to look forward to while we wait to find out.

Story Continued Below
— FASCINATING, via today’s Palm Beach Post’s front page: “Days before President Trump flies into town for Thanksgiving, one of the world’s most expensive yachts, owned by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, sailed into the Port of Palm Beach Friday afternoon.
“The 533-foot Eclipse, valued at $400 million to $500 million, comes equipped with a pool, helipad, submarine and room for a crew of 92, according to marine websites. It made its way past The Bahamas and docked at 1:15 p.m, taking the slip normally reserved for the Grand Celebration, a cruise ship currently on hurricane-relief duty in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Originally booked to stay through Dec. 5, the Eclipse may have to leave Dec. 1, as it is being followed by the 644-foot World, billed as ‘the largest private residential ship on the planet,’ which is scheduled to arrive that day.
“Where will the Eclipse go? According to the MarineTraffic app, she plans to head south on the Intracoastal Waterway, toward downtown West Palm Beach. Note to Transportation Security Administration: That would put a Russian submarine within a mile or so of the winter White House.” http://bit.ly/2AbRhp1

TALKER — TOM RICKS in FOREIGN POLICY: “Babylon Revisited: Melancholy Thoughts After a Short Trip to Washington, D.C.: As a young reporter in political Washington in the late 1980s, I noticed that there was a type of person who thrived in the driven, transactional environment of the capital.” http://atfp.co/2yXIIKh
HARDSHIP ASSIGNMENT — JONATHAN MARTIN and ALEX BURNS in Austin: “Republican Governors’ 2018 Dilemma: What to Do About Trump?” http://nyti.ms/2zNR8HS
Good Saturday morning. REALITY FINALLY SETS IN — “Aides give up on trying to control Trump’s tweets,” by Annie Karni: “When candidate Donald Trump waged a Twitter war against Khizr Khan, the Gold Star father who rebuked him from the stage of the Democratic National Convention, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie were sent in for a ‘tough love talk’ about the efficacy of the tweets, two former campaign officials recalled. Controlling potentially damaging tweets was a job left mostly to the legal team in the early days of the administration. Former attorneys Marc Kasowitz and Jay Sekulow gave Trump one simple rule to guide his tweeting habit: don’t comment online about the Russia investigation.
“‘The message was, tweet about policy, tweet about politics, but don’t attack the special counsel,’ recalled another former aide. None of the advice seemed to have any lasting effect on a president who views his own impulses as a virtue. And these days, the staff has basically stopped trying: there is no character inhabiting the West Wing who is dispatched to counsel the president when he aims the powerful weapon of his Twitter feed at himself.” http://politi.co/2AYJPdQ
NYT’S PETER BAKER — “In Mocking Franken Over Claims of Sexual Misconduct, Trump Joins a Debate He Started”: “[T]he notion that Mr. Trump himself would weigh in given his own history of crude talk about women and the multiple allegations against him surprised many in Washington who thought he could not surprise them anymore. A typical politician with Mr. Trump’s history would stay far away from discussing someone else’s behavior lest it dredge his own back into the spotlight. But as Mr. Trump has shown repeatedly during his 10-month presidency, he is rarely deterred by conventional political wisdom even as he leaves it to his staff to fend off the cries of hypocrisy.
“‘Like everything else Trump touches, he hijacks it with his chronic dishonesty and childishness,’ said Mark Salter, a longtime adviser to Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona. ‘The intense, angry and largely ignorant tribalism afflicting our politics predates Trump’s arrival on the scene. But he has infused it with a psychopath’s inability to accept that social norms apply to him.’” http://nyti.ms/2hJ8PkX
CLINTON WEIGHS IN ON FRANKEN, MOORE — “Clinton blasts Trump and Moore over sexual misconduct allegations,” by Cristiano Lima: “Hillary Clinton slammed President Donald Trump and Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore on Friday over their alleged sexual misconduct, criticizing them for not ‘accepting responsibility’ and ‘apologizing’ for their reported transgressions as Sen. Al Franken did. Clinton said that Franken, who was accused this week of groping a female broadcaster in 2006, acted responsibly by owning up to his actions and publicly apologizing for them — a far cry from the response given by Trump and Moore, she said.
“The former secretary of state and Democratic presidential nominee said that Franken’s request to have the Senate ethics panel investigate his sexual misconduct ‘is the kind of accountability I’m talking about.’ ‘I don’t hear that from Roy Moore or Donald Trump,’ she added during an interview with New York’s WABC radio. ‘Look at the contrast between Al Franken, accepting responsibility, apologizing, and Roy Moore and Donald Trump, who have done neither.’” http://politi.co/2hzuE2m
— CLINTON ON TRUMP’S PRESIDENCY: “Trump ‘has disgraced the office’ … Asked whether there was anything she admired about the Trump’s tenure in office thus far, Clinton replied: ‘No. The answer is absolutely no.’ ‘I didn’t think he’d be as bad as he turned out to be,’ she added.”
TRUMP RESPONDS — @realDonaldTrump at 8:31 a.m.: “Crooked Hillary Clinton is the worst (and biggest) loser of all time. She just can’t stop, which is so good for the Republican Party. Hillary, get on with your life and give it another try in three years!”
ABOUT THOSE GILLIBRAND-CLINTON COMMENTS — “Gillibrand remark on Clinton resignation shocks Democrats,” by Gabe Debenedetti in New York: “Kirsten Gillibrand is having a moment, whether she meant to or not. Going where no other prominent Democrat had before on Thursday evening by declaring that Bill Clinton should have resigned the presidency during the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the New York senator and potential 2020 presidential contender yet again found herself the face of a national conversation with the potential to dominate headlines and divide her party. …
“The longtime Clinton ally’s answer to the New York Times question neatly encapsulated how Gillibrand has placed herself front-and-center on the dominant issue of the day, even if it forces a debate her own party is uncomfortable confronting. And it highlighted the political dexterity that her critics and rivals often deride as opportunism: A former conservative Blue Dog House member, Gillibrand has reinvented herself as a leading progressive and face of the Trump resistance ahead of a potential presidential run.” http://politi.co/2hzVmIj

SHOW ME THE MONEY — “Roy Moore scandal ignites fundraising explosion for Democratic challenger Doug Jones,” by NBC News’ Alex Seitz-Wald: “The Roy Moore scandal has unleashed a torrent of online donations to Democrat Doug Jones, who was collecting around $250,000 per day in its immediate aftermath … Democrats may end up in the unlikely situation of dramatically outspending the GOP in the Senate contest in deep red Alabama now that national Republicans have abandoned Moore.” http://nbcnews.to/2zSy4FM
PRESIDENT TRUMP WEIGHS IN ON BIG GAME CONTROVERSY — @realDonaldTrump at 7:47 p.m.: “Put big game trophy decision on hold until such time as I review all conservation facts. Under study for years. Will update soon with Secretary Zinke. Thank you!” Trump also retweeted Greta Van Susteren and Piers Morgan this morning supporting his decision on trophy hunting.
— STATEMENT FROM INTERIOR SECRETARY RYAN ZINKE: “President Trump and I have talked and both believe that conservation and healthy herds are critical. As a result, in a manner compliant with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, the issuing of permits is being put on hold as the decision is being reversed.”
IT’S ALL ABOUT THAT BASE — “Trump adds five conservatives to list of possible Supreme Court picks,” by Reuters’ Jim Oliphant and Andrew Chung: “In a move certain to please conservatives, President Donald Trump on Friday added five names to his list of candidates for a prospective U.S. Supreme Court vacancy as he presses ahead with a campaign to move the federal judiciary to the right. Two of them are appellate judges who were nominated by Trump earlier this year and confirmed by the Senate: Amy Coney Barrett and Kevin Newsom. Another, Brett Kavanaugh, sits on the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington, long viewed as a stepping-stone to the high court. The others were Britt Grant, a Georgia Supreme Court justice, and Patrick Wyrick, a Oklahoma Supreme Court justice.” http://reut.rs/2yVce3h
SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE — “Trump still loves polls,” by Josh Dawsey and Steven Shepard: “As a TV host, Donald Trump loved ratings. As president, he loves polls—as long as they show him on the upswing. He crowed on Twitter hours after landing back in Washington from his 12-day Asia tour about his Rasmussen number—46 percent—noting it was ‘one of the most accurate’ in 2016, and decried ‘fake news’ polls showing his approval in the 30s while also suggesting, with no evidence, that ‘some people’ think his numbers could be in the 50s. (The Rasmussen poll sank to 42 percent on Friday.)
“Aides in the White House often show Trump polls designed to make him feel good, according to aides and advisers. Usually they’re the ones that focus just on voters who cast ballots for him in 2016 or are potential Trump supporters —Trump’s base—but occasionally include public polls like Rasmussen, depending on what the numbers say. ‘You know, I thought that he’d be a little less in campaign mode than he’s been. I think he’s never really kind of gotten out of campaign mode and I thought he might,’ said New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a Trump adviser. ‘I guess it’s his judgment that that’s what he has to do but that’s surprised me a little bit.’” http://politi.co/2jAobZp
A PROBLEM FOR REPUBLICANS — “In towns and cities nationwide, fears of trickle-down effects of federal tax legislation,” by WaPo’s Renae Merle and Peter Jamison: “[I]n small towns and thriving cities, in Republican- and Democratic-leaning states, local leaders are warning that the $1.5 trillion tax legislation moving through Congress threatens to undermine their ability to raise money for government services, including police and schools. The Republican measures would eliminate or severely curtail taxpayers’ ability to lower their federal tax bill by deducting the cost of their state and local taxes. Without that offset, local leaders say, taxpayers will begin to seek relief closer to home, potentially making it more difficult to provide basic services.” http://wapo.st/2j6vAeX
FOR YOUR RADAR — AP at 9:01 a.m.: “PARIS (AP) – Lebanon’s Hariri says he is returning to his country, confirms he is resigning amid political tensions.”
ANOTHER TWIST IN THE RUSSIA INVESTIGATION — “Congressional aides may have answers on pro-Russia GOP platform change,” by Kyle Cheney: “As U.S. investigators probe whether President Donald Trump’s campaign orchestrated a Russia-friendly change to the Republican Party platform last summer, three senior Capitol Hill aides — including Speaker Paul Ryan’s chief of staff — may have answers about how the episode unfolded. The three staffers, who have not been accused of any wrongdoing, advised the GOP convention’s platform committee on foreign policy matters and had front-row seats when a low-profile group of delegates, acting in conjunction with Trump campaign officials, spiked a proposal urging a tougher U.S. policy against Russian aggression in Ukraine.
“That change has drawn scrutiny from the House and Senate intelligence committees as they investigate whether any Trump campaign officials cooperated with Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Some witnesses say they expect it to become a topic of interest in special counsel Robert Mueller’s parallel criminal probe. Spokespeople for the offices of two of the staffers told POLITICO they have not been in contact with Mueller or his team. But Ryan’s top aide, Jonathan Burks, would neither confirm nor deny whether he had heard from the special counsel: ‘I’m not going to have any comment,’ he said.” http://politi.co/2A7atUM
— “Moscow meeting in June 2017 under scrutiny in Trump probe,” by AP’s Desmond Butler, Mary Clare Jalonick and Eric Tucker: “Earlier this year, a Russian-American lobbyist and another businessman discussed over coffee in Moscow an extraordinary meeting they had attended 12 months earlier: a gathering at Trump Tower with President Donald Trump’s son, his son-in-law and his then-campaign chairman. The Moscow meeting in June, which has not been previously disclosed, is now under scrutiny by investigators who want to know why the two men met in the first place and whether there was some effort to get their stories straight about the Trump Tower meeting just weeks before it would become public … Congressional investigators have questioned both men — lobbyist Rinat Akhmetshin and Ike Kaveladze, a business associate of a Moscow-based developer and former Trump business partner — and obtained their text message communications.” http://bit.ly/2hKpTqC
KEEPING HIS SENSE OF HUMOR — @charlie_savage: “At Mayflower Hotel, Sessions jokes: ‘Is Ambassador Kislyak in the room before I get started? Any Russians? Anybody been to Russia? Got a cousin in Russia?’ #FedSoc2017”. 30-second video http://bit.ly/2A9Cvz7
HMM — “U.S. Flagged Russian Firm Kaspersky as Potential Threat as Early as 2004,” by WSJ’s Paul Sonne: “A Russian cybersecurity firm whose products current and former U.S. officials suspect Moscow has used as a tool for spying was flagged by U.S. military intelligence as a potential security threat as early as 2004, according to new information the Defense Department provided to Congress. … The DIA ‘began producing threat reporting referencing Kaspersky Lab as a threat actor as early as 2004,’ according to the email, reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, raising questions about why other federal agencies continued to use the firm’s products.” http://on.wsj.com/2mCiHyl
JARED WATCH — “Kushner failed to disclose outreach from Putin ally to Trump campaign,” by NBC News’ Ken Dilanian and Carol E. Lee: “President Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, failed to disclose what lawmakers called a ‘Russian backdoor overture and dinner invite’ involving a banker who has been accused of links to Russian organized crime, three sources familiar with the matter told NBC News. An email chain described Aleksander Torshin, a former senator and deputy head of Russia’s central bank who is close to Russian President Vladimir Putin, as wanting Trump to attend an event on the sidelines of a National Rifle Association convention in Louisville, Kentucky, in May 2016 … The email also suggests Torshin was seeking to meet with a high-level Trump campaign official during the convention, and that he may have had a message for Trump from Putin …
“Kushner rebuffed the request after receiving a lengthy email exchange about it between a West Virginia man and Trump campaign aide Rick Dearborn … Kushner responded to the email by telling Dearborn and the handful of other Trump campaign officials on the email that they should not accept requests from people who pretend to have contacts with foreign officials to aggrandize themselves … ‘Pass on this,’ Kushner responded … ‘A lot of people come claiming to carry messages. Very few we are able to verify. For now I think we decline such meetings.’” http://nbcnews.to/2AamRDs
— “Kushner attorney fires back at Senate Judiciary Committee,” by CNN’s Jeremy Herb and Evan Perez: “In a letter Friday to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa and ranking Democrat Dianne Feinstein of California, attorney Abbe Lowell wrote that there were no ‘missing documents’ as the committee has alleged, while criticizing the panel’s leaders for going to the media on Thursday with their accusations ‘I would have assumed that, if there were any questions about our productions or exchanges, that would have been communicated to me directly before you made this a media event,’ Lowell wrote.” http://cnn.it/2isWU7A
PUTTING THE SQUEEZE ON MIDDLE EAST PEACE — “U.S. puts Palestinians on notice: D.C. office may be shuttered,” by AP’s Josh Lederman and Matt Lee: “The Trump administration put the Palestinians on notice Friday that it will shutter their office in Washington unless they’ve entered serious peace talks with Israel, U.S. officials said, potentially giving President Donald Trump more leverage as he seeks an elusive Mideast peace deal. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has determined that the Palestinians ran afoul of an obscure provision in a U.S. law that says the Palestine Liberation Organization’s mission must close if the Palestinians try to get the International Criminal Court to prosecute Israelis for crimes against Palestinians. A State Department official said that in September, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas crossed that line by calling on the ICC to investigate and prosecute Israelis.
“But the law leaves the president a way out, so Tillerson’s declaration doesn’t necessarily mean the office will close. Trump now has 90 days to consider whether the Palestinians are in ‘direct and meaningful negotiations with Israel.’ If Trump determines they are, the Palestinians can keep the office. The official said it was unclear whether the U.S. might close the office before the 90-day period expires, but said the mission remains open at least for now.” http://bit.ly/2yTYzcS
— “The Mooch is headed to Israel just weeks after ‘tone-deaf’ Holocaust poll,” by Page Six’s Kevin Dugan: “A month after Anthony Scaramucci’s ‘media venture’ posted a tasteless poll on the Holocaust, the short-lived White House communications director is taking a four-day trip to Israel, The Post has learned. ‘I’ll meet everybody,’ he told The Post on Friday, hours before he was to take off. ‘I’m having dinner with Dave Friedman, the ambassador, who’s a great friend of mine.’ The one-time hedgie is also heading to Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial site in Jerusalem, he said.” http://pge.sx/2j6XJCy

THE GRINCH — “CIA nixes holiday party invites for media,” by Ali Watkins: “CIA Director Mike Pompeo has opted not to invite reporters to the CIA’s annual holiday party this year, ending a years-long streak of inviting the intelligence press corps to the upscale event. The event has historically provided a rare opportunity for reporters to mingle with agency officials who typically shun or avoid them — but that the idea has been nixed by Pompeo, who has been openly critical of the news media, was hardly surprising. … The party, held in the agency’s iconic headquarters lobby, is also a famously bizarre Washington exercise. Reporters, closely minded by the CIA’s press staff, are able to mingle in the hors d’oeuvres line with station chiefs, foreign partners and occupants of the CIA’s executive offices.” http://politi.co/2zPqD48
BRETT TALLEY PROFILE – “Law clerk by day, ghost hunter by night, now Trump’s judiciary nominee,” by WaPo’s Robert O’Harrow Jr.: “Few in memory have been nominated with credentials quite like those of [Brett] Talley, 36, an Alabama native, a political speechwriter, an author of horror books and a fledgling lawyer who has never tried a case. In 2009 and 2010, he was a member of the Tuscaloosa Paranormal Research Group, a volunteer operation that since the early 2000s has held all-night vigils and used infrared cameras, handheld sensors and other devices to search for spectral entities in plantation mansions, abandoned hospitals and other buildings. … In 2014, when he was a speechwriter on Capitol Hill, Talley took a Post reporter ghost hunting in a District cemetery.” http://wapo.st/2ze5jGK
NOT THE ONION – “Candidate for Ohio governor reveals sexual past on Facebook,” by AP’s Julie Carr Smyth in Columbus: “A state Supreme Court justice running for governor volunteered candid details of his sexual past on Facebook on Friday, saying he was taking a swipe at the ‘media frenzy’ over sexual misconduct. Democrat William O’Neill’s post was immediately attacked as inappropriate and led to calls for his ouster. In it, he wrote that he has been ‘sexually intimate with approximately 50 very attractive females,” including ‘a gorgeous blonde’ with whom he ‘made passionate love’ in a hay loft and a ‘drop dead gorgeous red head’ from Cleveland.” http://bit.ly/2zPfuAH
WES GOODMAN UPDATE — “How a conservative group dealt with a fondling charge against a rising GOP star,” by WaPo’s Kimberly Kindy and Elise Viebeck: “On a fall evening two years ago, donors gathered during a conference at a Ritz-Carlton hotel near Washington to raise funds for a 31-year-old candidate for the Ohio legislature who was a rising star in evangelical politics. Hours later, upstairs in a hotel guest room, an 18-year-old college student who had come to the event with his parents said the candidate unzipped his pants and fondled him in the middle of the night.
“The frightened teenager fled the room and told his mother and stepfather, who demanded action from the head of the organization hosting the conference … Tony Perkins, president of the Council for National Policy [and head of the Family Research Council] … Goodman, 33, abruptly resigned this week after state legislative leaders learned of what the House speaker called ‘inappropriate behavior related to his state office.’ Local media outlets have reported the behavior involved a consensual sexual encounter with a male visitor in his legislative office.” http://wapo.st/2AYMkgf
DRIP, DRIP, DRIP — “Rep. Gianforte’s account to police on assault of reporter appears to contradict his later apology,” by WaPo’s Ellie Silverman: “Documents released by law enforcement officials in Montana on Friday show that Greg Gianforte, then the Republican candidate in the state’s special congressional election, told police in May that a reporter from the Guardian had grabbed his wrist during a physical altercation at his campaign headquarters, blaming the ‘liberal media’ for ‘trying to make a story.’ His statement appears to contradict the apology he later issued to Ben Jacobs, saying the reporter ‘did not initiate any physical contact with me,’ raising questions about whether the congressman was truthful with authorities. Travis Hall, a spokesperson for Gianforte, referred The Washington Post to a statement given to the Associated Press, in which he said the information in the documents was ‘nothing new.’” http://wapo.st/2jyIgPE

VALLEY TALK — “The TED talks empire has been grappling with sexual harassment, interviews and internal emails show,” by WaPo’s Elizabeth Dwoskin and Danielle Paquette: “[B]ehind the scenes, TED owner Chris Anderson and other senior officials [has] been grappling with accusations for much of the year that their own conferences, famed for turning short speeches by leading figures into viral videos, had not been a safe place for women — and that the atmosphere of predatory male behavior was getting worse. — “Avengers in Wrath: Moral Agency and Trauma Prevention for Remote Warriors,” by Dave Blair and Karen House on Lawfare – per TheBrowser.com’s description: “We think of remote drone pilots as somewhat akin to high-powered video-gamers, wreaking havoc on a screen. And perhaps they are. But they experience their role as something much closer to real-world combat and killing. The imperative is not ‘kill or be killed’, as it would be in localised combat, but rather, ‘kill or someone else will be killed’ — and the stress is almost as great. ‘A world without your fire support could easily become a world without your comrades.’” http://bit.ly/2zSat8e

They claim to be an overlooked majority — the vast market inefficiency that will richly reward anyone who will let them watch their games, memes and funny videos without having to feel bad about themselves. Barstool is their safe space.” http://nyti.ms/2hHvY7k

REMEMBERING BOBBY BAKER – WaPo’s Jon Thurber: “Bobby Baker, a protege of future president Lyndon B. Johnson whose career of wealth and privilege came crashing down in an influence-peddling scandal, died Nov. 12 — his 89th birthday — in St. Augustine, Fla. Mr. Baker [was] once the most influential staffer in the U.S. Senate … ‘Mr. Baker, I understand you know where the bodies are buried in the Senate. I’d appreciate it if you’d come to my office and talk with me,’ the newly elected Sen. Johnson (D-Tex.) said in his first telephone conversation with Mr. Baker in late 1948. Mr. Baker was just 20 at the time and a staffer for the Senate leadership … His vast knowledge of the operations of the Senate and his facility in the art of accommodation — moving pet legislative projects ahead for some senators or helping fulfill the proclivities of others for drink, sex or cash — would make him an invaluable asset to Johnson.” http://wapo.st/2zNz94k
