     scott wasn’t the type that used tinder to meet people. it’d never been his style but his ex-turned-best-friend allison had signed him up and given him the push he needed to try. so, here he was. standing in front of a coffee shop waiting for his date, a guy named tate, to show up. 

     he seemed nice enough from his pictures and bio, but he couldn’t help but be nervous. his mother had drilled stranger danger safety in his head from day one and having a sheriff for a stepfather had reinforced that even more. his step-brother stiles being paranoid as fuck about well, everything, also had him hesitant about meeting this dude even with it being at a public place.

     leaning against the brick of the building, he sent off a text letting tate know he was there and wearing a brown jacket. nothing bad could happen at a coffee shop, right? he’d be fine and in the worst case scenario, they’d never speak again. trying to reassure himself over and over in his head, he let out a sigh and continued to wait.
