The President
| a spinoff series to 'The Nanny' |
Coriolanus often finds himself leaving his desk so he can look out the windows of his study.
His study overlooks the expansive grounds of the President's Mansion, maintained to perfection throughout the year, flowers always in bloom, edges always kept trim and sharp.
Just how he likes it.
He never really cared to look out of his windows before, never had a reason to. But now he watches his girls run around outside, shrieking with laughter while they chase what looks like a butterfly. A small smile curls across his lips, a smile that's always been reserved for his children and only his children. It makes him happy to see them happy.
The butterfly by some miracle, lands on Ceraphina's hand, causing both girls to freeze in their tracks so it doesn't fly away. Celeste smiles widely and looks over her shoulder, saying something and waving her hand. A moment later, he's met with an even more sweet sight.
His son Caspian, nearly a carbon copy of him with his blue eyes and blonde hair. It's no surprise that Caspian is clung to his favorite person's hip right now.
Coriolanus absentmindedly fiddles with the golden band on his ring finger while he watches her crouch down with the children, so effortlessly kind and sweet with them. The girls smile brightly and Caspian says something that makes them all laugh.
He remembers a time when Caspian refused to speak, when the girls never laughed let alone played outside like this.
That was all before Soarynn came into their lives.
꧁ Three Years Ago ꧂
After nearly four years of being President of Panem, Coriolanus has learned to value a routine. He starts his day at six-thirty every morning, exercising so he can maintain the healthiest version of himself before throwing himself into his busy work day.
Then he showers and dresses himself, making sure that he looks presentable for meetings, press conferences, public appearances, and everything in between. He's been in the spotlight more than ever since Livia passed away. He tries not to think about that, how she left him to clean up this mess, with three children desperately missing their mother.
But there's no going back, only moving forward for the Snows.
Then he has breakfast with his children. It's usually quiet aside from Eudora rattling off his schedule for the day. Without Eudora Trinket, Coriolanus would be fucked and so far behind. She keeps him on track and on schedule, not allowing for the smallest lapse in her timeframe. He is equally scared of her and impressed by her which seems to be a good thing in her eyes.
But lately, she's been more of a babysitter than an event coordinator. With the loss of his wife, Coriolanus was left with the nearly impossible task of looking over his children and raising them while also running the country.
It only took him a week to realize that he couldn't do both.
So he hired a nanny. Several nannies at this point.
It's not the children's fault, he knows that they're still grieving, still confused, and missing their mother but every nanny has come with her own problems. Too strict, too lenient, too loud, too quiet. His girls have rather loud, confident personalities, especially his Ceraphina and she has no problem speaking her mind and challenging the adults around her.
She needs someone who will remind her of her role as the President's daughter, someone who will be stern yet kind at the same time. What she really needs is her mother but again, there's no going back.
Celeste is a bit quieter than Ceraphina but not by much and she has a tendency to copy every single thing her sister does which often leads to them ganging up on their current nanny.
He knows his girls are sweet, that they mean well, and are desperate for his attention. He certainly hasn't been giving them a lot of that as of late. He has breakfast with them but that's it for the rest of the day. And out of fear of losing his children as well, Coriolanus has kept them close to him, not letting them leave the safety of the Mansion.
Ceraphina will eventually start school but that's months and months away. He doesn't really want to think about his little girl growing up.
"...and the potential candidate will be coming in for her interview," Eudora's voice bleeds into his thoughts and Coriolanus clears his throat, acting as though he was listening the entire time. "Good, good. Ceraphina finish your eggs please."
Ceraphina huffs, slouching in her seat and crossing her arms, terrible manners for a young Capitol lady to have, "Eggs are gross!"
It's almost comical how quickly Celeste copies her older sister's behavior, "Yeah, eggs are gross!" Coriolanus and Eudora share a knowing look, this behavior is to be expected since their last nanny left a week ago. Every time a nanny leaves, the girls act up as a way of defying him. He's gotten used to the snappy attitudes towards him but he wishes they'd give him a break, he's trying, he's really, really trying here.
If only they could see that.
꧁ ꧂
Coriolanus is buried in paperwork when there's a familiar knock on the doors to his study. Eudora slips in a moment later, a strange twinkle in her eyes, "The potential candidate is here," she tells him, "she seems very promising." Coriolanus rolls his eyes, Eudora is optimistic about everyone who steps foot in this house whereas he is always doubtful.
"You say that about every candidate," he reminds her, crossing off a few paragraphs, "send her in."
Eudora slips back out into the hallway and he can only imagine the pep talk she has to give these women before they sit before him. Most are always wide-eyed and scared of him which he considers to be a good thing. He doesn't need some woman traipsing around his house acting like the queen of the world. He's their employer, nothing more, nothing less.
The doors open again and he flips to the next page of a report that was sent to him, only looking up after a long amount of silence. His potential new nanny is standing by the doors, clutching her purse, waiting for him to say something, which he finds somewhat odd. Some of the nannies have made themselves right at home, introducing themselves without hesitation.
But he knows this woman, knows who her father and mother are, he just never thought she'd be standing right in front of him.
"Come in, Ms. Nightingale," he waves her forward with his hand.
She walks up to his desk, sitting in one of the armchairs across from his desk while he finishes up his work, in no rush to conduct this interview. The first interview he ever had was so different, he was so eager to find someone to care for his children. Now he's already prepared to fire this woman in a matter of months over some mistake she's bound to make.
It's best not to get attached is what he's found.
Everyone is replaceable.
He finally tears his gaze away from his paperwork and focuses on the woman sitting across from him. Soarynn Nightingale, daughter of Glen Nightingale, an esteemed Capitol citizen up until he died fairly recently. From what he's heard about her, she's a quiet girl, polite and raised the right way, with impeccable grades from her years at the Academy. On paper, she's perfect.
She looks perfect too, even he can admit that.
She's much younger than the other nannies he's hired, in fact, she's the youngest he's ever considered. Eudora had thrown her resume and application on his desk one day and suggested that maybe she was just what they were looking for, that the children needed someone younger, someone, less intimidating than a woman older than their own father.
He had planned on her being younger but he didn't plan on her being beautiful.
She's currently looking at the framed photograph he has of his children that sits on his desk and he scans her youthful complexion. Her face is covered in freckles and she has rosy cheeks and soft-looking lips. Her hair is blonde like her mother's from what he can remember of Cera Nightingale.
Unlike Livia, Soarynn is a natural beauty.
But that doesn't mean she'll be a natural nanny.
Soarynn finally catches his stare and sits up straighter, looking right into his eyes and he can see that instead of the blue eyes he possesses, her eyes are identical to Ceraphina's, blue and gray.
He finds that somewhat amusing how similar she looks to Ceraphina, hopefully, she doesn't share the same attitude or they'll all be in trouble. Soarynn seems nervous even though she's trying to act like she isn't and he relaxes into his chair, "You're younger than the others," is the first thing he says.
She blinks twice, surprised by his comment, "Pardon?"
Coriolanus sighs, he forgets how intimidating he can be to people, how they're afraid of stepping out of line or saying the wrong thing. It's easy to forget the power he truly holds when his children walk all over him. "The other nannies that I've hired, you're younger than all of them."
She nods and he continues, "Your resume impressed me, Ms. Nightingale, and you managed to pass all the background checks with flying colors as well. So tell me, why do you think you'd be a suitable nanny for my children?"
He's heard so many answers over the past few months, ranging from skillsets to how it's a terrible shame that his children are without a mother. Her hands shake a little bit but she answers with a steady tone, "I'm very good with children," she tells him, "I'm dependable and organized, and I see this job as a great honor."
Coriolanus scoffs a laugh, that's a new one, no one has ever claimed that watching after his children is an honor. It's a job at the end of the day. He tilts his head back, a headache already forming so he pinches the bridge of his nose, from now on, Eudora will handle this portion of the interviews.
"Yes, a great honor," he mumbles, "running after my children at all hours of the day is a great service to the country of Panem." He steals a glance at Soarynn and finds her looking perplexed, stumped by his behavior so he decides to lay it all out there to save them both some time. He leans forward, resting his forearms on his desk, adopting the powerful persona he's well known for.
"I won't pretend that you're the first nanny that's walked through my door, and to be quite honest with you, you probably won't be the last nanny either. My children need a source of stability, do you understand? The death of their mother shook our family, and I've been left to pick up the pieces it seems."
Soarynn like every other person he's spoken to about Livia's death nods, everyone was required to watch the funeral procession. The entire nation mourned the loss of Livia while Coriolanus mourned the loss of his partner, someone who always shouldered the brunt of their responsibilities.
"I understand sir," she says.
"Good, good. My oldest, Ceraphina, she remembers the most about her mother but, even she's starting to forget Livia more and more. I'd appreciate it if you didn't refresh her memory on it any further. I want to move forward, not backward."
Coriolanus knew on the day that Livia died that bringing up her memory would not be wise if he ever wanted his family to move on. Ceraphina remembers the most but he can tell that she's beginning to forget certain things about her mother who was never really the most loving. She certainly remembers what he was like when Livia was alive and that's proven to be more painful.
"Yes sir."
He allows himself one moment to look her up and down, she seems to be in good health and according to her file, she's as healthy as can be. Soarynn being younger means she'll be able to keep up with the girls better, relate to them more. She doesn't seem to be clinically insane either which is always a good thing.
After coming to a decision, he nods, "You seem like a good fit for our family Ms. Nightingale, but let me make one thing perfectly clear, my children are to be your first and top priority. Nothing else matters but them. They're all I have now that Livia is gone. I can't have any more children. They're my future. My legacy. Should it come down to it, your life will come before theirs."
This is always the part that leaves them speechless but he's dead serious. It's a miracle that Livia was able to give him three children before she died and he plans on keeping it that way. Coriolanus can't see himself ever remarrying, not when he didn't even want to get married in the first place but three beautiful children came out of it and for that, he'll always be grateful.
He needs to know that Soarynn would lay down her life to save his children.
"Of course, sir."
He wastes no time in grabbing his pen and opening one of his desk drawers, pulling out the most recent file which so happens to be the file on Soarynn. He tosses it onto the desk, her eyes zero in on it, "It says here in your file that you're Glen Nightingale's daughter. Allow me to offer you my condolences on his passing." She looks shocked that he even mentioned it but Coriolanus remembers Glen, remembers how warm his house was, and how kind his wife was towards him whenever he'd visit with his father.
"Thank you," she says quietly, looking down at her lap.
He already knows the answer to his next question but asks it anyway, curious to see how she handles death, "How did he pass?"
"Heart failure, we...we didn't see it coming. But he left me with everything I could possibly need." Coriolanus grunts, thinking of his own father before he passed, leaving Coriolanus with the family fortune and a lifetime of advice and life lessons. "A good man then. I do believe that our fathers were good friends back in the day, I used to go to dinners with them when I was just a boy."
He doesn't really know why he mentioned the dinners but he feels somewhat inclined to let Soarynn know that he's not a fool to be played, he's been around the block and knows everything about everyone.
"Yes, he was very well connected," is all she says, shifting in her seat.
He flips open her file to the page that bears her most basic information, height, age, and weight. Soarynn is looking at it too, "You can see my information?" She asks, leaning forward in her seat and he can see that he's piqued her curiosity. Most Capitolites don't know about their own files and he prefers to keep it that way, only referring to them when absolutely necessary, like when he hires them to look after his children.
He nods, "Yes, I'm granted access to all information concerning citizens of Panem. This is mostly to ensure that you're of sound mind and body, and to make sure I know exactly where your loyalties lie."
She's quick to respond to that, "I can assure you that my loyalties lie within the safety of the Capitol sir," she says, "I attended the Academy, same as my father."
Coriolanus almost laughs, attending the Academy doesn't mean shit to him, not after what he's been through, what his children have been through. He leans forward too, sharply looking at her, "I'm well aware of your loyalties. But let me make one thing perfectly clear Ms. Nightingale, your getting this job has nothing to do with your family name. It has nothing to do with your father being friends with my father. All I care about is your skillset and devotion to the well-being of my children. Am I clear?"
That knocks her down a few pegs. He's not some family friend that she can chat with and seek comfort in. He's the President of Panem and he will be treated as such.
She swallows, "Crystal."
"Good. You'll start today, meet the children, learn the house and the routines. Eudora will help you with the rest. Should you fail to meet my standards, you'll be fired immediately," he says casually, sitting back up and closing her file.
She seems a bit taken aback by his blunt words but he's found that it's best to keep an honest open relationship with the nannies he employs.
"Thank you, sir."
He waves her off with his hand and Soarynn is quick to rise from her seat and walk to the doors, probably desperate to be out of his sight. He remembers one last thing he forgot to mention.
"And Ms. Nightingale?"
She looks back at him, her hand already on the door handle, "Yes sir?"
"You are not their mother. Don't try to be something you're not, do you understand? My children don't need another mother, they need a nanny."
Coriolanus has seen it before, seen previous nannies become too doting and attached to his children. It makes firing them so much more complicated and the children react so terribly to the whole thing. It's best to keep it professional.
A beat passes before she answers, "Yes sir."
꧁ ꧂
꧁ Current Time ꧂
Coriolanus climbs the back staircase at a slow pace. Today was exhausting. He had two more meetings than he hadn't planned for, which led to his dinner plans with Soarynn being pushed back until he ultimately had to cancel them. She's so understanding his wife, but he knows she'll be upset and he can't really blame her for that.
Once he reaches the second floor, he checks in on the children to make sure they're all sleeping. Caspian is sprawled out on his new bed, Lenny the Lion clutched in one hand so he doesn't run away. He finds the girls in similar positions, both buried under their mountains of stuffed animals that they insist on sleeping with.
He closes the doors to Ceraphina's bedroom and quietly pads down the hall to his own room where he finds Soarynn already in bed reading a book. Petunia is lounging on the foot of the bed but she jumps down to greet him, purring while rubbing her head against his leg.
Coriolanus had been very hesitant to let Petunia into the Mansion but where Petunia went, Soarynn went as well and he needed her back so desperately after firing her in a fit of anger and hurt. And Petunia isn't that bad now that he's gotten to know her, she keeps out of his way and only meows when she feels like she's being ignored which is every five seconds apparently when they're trying to sleep.
But the girls love Petunia, so she's here to stay.
Soarynn looks at him from over her book, her lips pressed into a thin line, "How were your meetings?" Her voice is anything but welcoming but he supposes he deserves it after standing her up on date night. "Fine," he answers, "we did what needed to be done."
She hums, looking back at her book, "Good."
Coriolanus stands there for a moment, debating on the best route of action. Should he apologize now or shower first?
The correct answer would be to apologize right now, but he's so tired, so worn down from his advisors hounding him that a shower simply must come first. He trudges into the bathroom, Petunia hot on his heels as he begins undressing, kicking off his shoes. He sighs once his shirt is off, carding his fingers through his gelled hair, loosening his styled curls.
Shuffling into the bathroom he half hopes that Soarynn will be waiting for him but she's not, he can see from the bathroom that she's still in bed, paying him no mind. He grumbles and steps into the shower, turning the knob.
While the water heats up he makes one last attempt by sticking his head into their room, "Join me?" Coriolanus loves showering with Soarynn, taking care of her, washing her hair, rinsing off her body, holding her in his arms. It's the perfect way to wind down from work.
"I already showered," is all she says in reply, turning the page.
He grinds his teeth and closes the doors behind him, fine, he thinks to himself, I'll just shower all by myself and die in here all alone.
Rarely do they ever fight, even after two years of marriage they barely ever fight. Every once in a while one of them will snap under the societal pressures and the other will be left to pick up the pieces but Soarynn has an aversion to arguments. Maybe it's because he's notoriously aggressive when it comes to arguments. With anyone, not just her.
Being President means being good at arguing and voicing your opinion, not caring what others think is best. But Soarynn almost always backs down from a fight after a few hours, making her the peacekeeper in their relationship.
Not tonight though. She's standing her ground for once and he doesn't know how to feel about it.
Coriolanus stands under the hot water, washing today off his skin while he thinks about all of their past arguments and what he can do to fix this. He remembers the time he yelled at her and the children, even Eudora when they caused a ruckus outside of his study. He had only begun courting Soarynn and he still remembers the look in her eyes when he told her to do her job.
It was safe to say that she gave him a piece of her mind later that night. Or the time they threw the annual Victory Party at the house and that little brat Beckett led to several discussions about Coriolanus and Soarynn visiting Two. Soarynn had been put off by the idea of leaving the Capitol, and after the attack in Four, he couldn't blame her.
But at the moment, in the midst of his anger and his advisors talking over each other, he didn't defend her, didn't say anything really. Soarynn had fled his study and waited until the next morning to rip him a new one.
One thing he's learned about his wife is that she's a force to be reckoned with. Soarynn might appear sweet and submissive but there's a feisty side to her, a spitfire that comes alive when she's pushed far enough. It certainly came out when she and the children were kidnapped in Four and she wasn't even their mother yet.
But the more he thinks about it, the more he realizes that she's always been their mother since the day she got here.
He washes off the rest of his body, scrubbing his porcelain skin until it turns pink and raking shampoo through his curls. He finds himself staring at all of Soarynn's shower products. Her vanilla-scented body wash, her shampoo, and conditioner, her pink body scrub and loofah.
She's always smelled so good, felt so soft and smooth.
He's really been taking her for granted.
Coriolanus turns off the shower and dries off with a towel, wrapping it around his waist, and decides to apologize right now before he lets this drag on any further. He's always been a proud man but Soarynn has never failed to bring him to his knees.
She's exactly where he left her, still reading that damn book, unbothered by him.
"Darling," he says but she doesn't look away from the pages in front of her. "Hmm?" Coriolanus reminds himself to take deep breaths, marrying Soarynn has been the complete opposite of what it was like being married to Livia. With Livia, he could have screaming matches and sleep in separate rooms when it got to be too much.
But with Soarynn, it's different. He is different.
He hates hurting her, seeing her cry, watching her get scared or frustrated. He wants to fix every problem for her but he is often the problem. Marriage is more difficult when you're married to someone who's actually a decent human being.
"I just wanted to tell you how terrible I feel about dinner, you know how much I look forward to our dinners."
Soarynn finally sets down her book and he's met with a sharp, unforgiving gaze, "And you know how much I enjoy our dinners as well," she counters, "I might have to start asking Eudora to write me into your schedule so I can see you every once in a while."
Ouch.
The worst part about knowing someone like the back of your hand? Knowing exactly what to say to hurt them.
They're both hurting right now.
"Soarynn, things have been very busy as of late, the country is go-"
"I don't care about the country," she cuts him off, "I care about us. I care about you being my husband and the father to our children. The country will not fall apart if you cancel a meeting or take some time off. Coriolanus, you missed the girl's ballet recital last week, Caspian starts school in a month, and the worst part is, you don't even care!"
Coriolanus can feel himself getting angrier and if he were with Livia, the screaming would have already started, but she's not Livia, he reminds himself, curling his hands into fists before dropping them. And as terrible as it sounds, Soarynn is younger than him, young enough to see the world differently, to see his duties as President differently than Livia ever did.
Livia wasn't well suited for the spotlight in his opinion, sure, she was raised in the elite Capitol circles, but that didn't mean she was born to be First Lady. Soarynn, on the other hand, has shouldered the responsibility quite well, always knowing what to say to keep people on his side.
What she lacks in age and experience she makes up in charm and grace.
"I'm trying my best," he says quietly, "I have to focus on a million things at once and you knew that before you married me. I'm sorry about dinner, truly I am, I'll make it up to you."
Soarynn looks anything but doubtful at his promise, "How?"
Coriolanus sighs, slicking back his wet curls, "We'll take a vacation, how does that sound?" An uncomfortable silence sits between them and Soarynn shifts under the sheets, clearly not expecting him to offer up a holiday of some sort.
"A vacation or a work trip disguised as a vacation?"
She knows him too well.
He offers her a small grin, hoping to soothe over the gaping wound that is in her heart. Soarynn is so sensitive, it didn't take him long to realize how deeply she felt about everything she experienced. Her righteous, compassionate heart is one of his favorite things about her but it often leads to her getting hurt or disappointed. She puts too much faith in people whereas Coriolanus always suspects the worst.
"A vacation," he confirms, "just you and me."
Soarynn raises an eyebrow and sits up straighter against the headboard, "What of the children? Who will watch over them?"
"We can hire a nanny to watch over the chil-"
"Absolutely not," she cuts him off, "you know how I feel about that Coriolanus." He sighs, Soarynn has been fighting him about hiring a nanny to watch over the children for quite some time now. Eudora says that she probably feels like she's being replaced as the children's main caretaker but Coriolanus can see how thinly she's been spread these days.
Hiring a nanny would take a lot of weight and pressure off her shoulders.
"Soarynn, please, I am begging you to meet me halfway here, we're allowed to spend time without the children. It's been so long since we had time to ourselves."
She shakes her head, picking her book back up, "No, no I'm not leaving the children, something could happen and I'd never forgive myself."
"Oh, but I could? You don't think I'd be beside myself if something were to happen to them?" Venom seeps into his tone but he's too far gone to care at this point, "It's not like you see them anyways," she shoots back and Coriolanus turns on his heels, walking back into the bathroom with an enraged look on his face. He rests his hands on the counter, hanging his head so he can calm himself down.
He can hear rustling from outside in the bedroom and the soft sound of Soarynn's feet on the hardwood floors. "Coryo, I...I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that last bit," she says and he laughs, bitter and tired. "But you did," he reminds her, raising his head and looking to the side where she's standing, regret written all over her face, "What do you always tell the children? That two wrongs don't make a right? I know I fucked up today Soarynn but you didn't have to kick me when I was down."
She takes a small step towards him, clasping her hands behind her back and he takes the smallest second to admire how pretty she looks even before bed. With her pale yellow nightgown and her hair braided down her back. Even without any makeup, Soarynn is stunning.
"I'm sorry," she whispers, "I know you're under a lot of stress and my adding to it won't fix anything."
Coriolanus nods, looking back down at the counter, "We're supposed to depend on each other, remember? That means sometimes I might need to lean on you and sometimes you might need to lean on me but bringing up our shortcomings won't help either of us."
Soarynn goes quiet and a moment later he feels her arms wrapping around his torso, pressing her small hands against his stomach while resting her cheek on his bare back, "I know, and I know how much you do for us, for this country. I was just really excited for dinner."
He places a hand on top of hers, rubbing his fingers over her wedding ring, "I know darling, and I'm sorry that I had to cancel so last minute. I was looking forward to it immensely."
They both stay like that, in each other's embrace until Petunia trots back into the bathroom, meowing for attention as she so often does. Soarynn softly chuckles when the feline hops onto the counter, curious to see what her humans are doing.
"I wonder if she ever tires of our theatrics," he mumbles, staring at his reflection in the mirror. Soarynn presses a kiss to his back, "Someone has to keep her entertained."
Soarynn's hands disappear from his stomach and Coriolanus turns around to face his wife, so gentle and caring towards him, so adoring. He'd burn the world for her if she asked.
"I'm sorry, and I love you Soarynn, more than anything in this world."
Her stormy blue eyes reflect the same sentiment and she presses herself to her tiptoes, pecking his lips, "I love you too Coryo."
꧁ ꧂
With apologies handed out and wounded hearts healed, Coriolanus gets ready for bed, applying lotion to his skin while Soarynn helps him do his hair, raking in different products so his curls are as healthy as possible.
"I like it when you take care of me," he admits, resting his hands on her bare thighs while she sits on the counter, scratching his scalp with her deft fingers. "Is that so? Remember when you were sick and thought you were dying?"
Coriolanus snorts, he remembers getting sick very well. He hated having to lie in bed for three days, unable to get any work done. But Soarynn had taken excellent care of him, taking "in sickness and in health" to the fullest degree. The children had been amazed at the rare sight of their father being sick and unable to do anything and Coriolanus was convinced that his dry throat and runny nose would kill him.
Soarynn did not share his morbid way of thinking and continued to nurse him back to health. He never really said it out loud before, but he enjoyed being doted on.
"I had a very dry throat," he reminds her, "and Ceraphina drew me so white that I thought I was a ghost." Soarynn laughs and gives his scalp a good scrub before rinsing her hands off in the sink, "You displayed such bravery when you were sick, truly deserving of a medal."
Coriolanus rolls his eyes, the further they get into their relationship, the more she jokes around with him and he loves it, loves getting to see this side of Soarynn, the carefree side of her. Reserved only for him.
"I think I might be deserving of some kisses," he tries, leaning down to bump his nose with hers. Soarynn giggles but doesn't make him beg, pressing her lips to his in a sweet kiss. It's the type of kiss every man needs after a long day at work. The kiss that reminds him of why he does what he does.
His hands slide up to her waist, holding her there while he deepens the kiss, groaning when her hands come to rest on his bare biceps. One of the reasons he exercises in the mornings is solely for Soarynn to have something to grab onto and dig her nails into during moments like this.
"We should go to bed," she whispers between kisses.
"Mhm."
He doesn't stop kissing her though, in fact, he leans forward, causing her to lean back onto the counter so he can take full control of the situation, "My pretty girl," he praises, pulling away from the kiss to pepper her face and jaw with kisses, "so sweet and good for me."
Soarynn whines at the praise, she's always been easy to rile up. He kisses down the column of her throat, sucking on the delicate skin just a little bit before moving down to her collarbones. Soarynn is already breathless from their kissing and he slides a hand under her nightgown, finding that she's not wearing any of the lace panties he's so terribly fond of.
"You're playing a very dangerous game darling," he tells her, slipping his hand between her thighs.
Soarynn arches her back and looks up at him with a clouded expression, half in and half out of remembering that she suggested that they go to bed. A lazy smile grows across her face and her hands come to rest on his broad shoulders.
"Well, we both know that there are worse games to play."

For Bucky
This is for @official-buckybarnes and him only.
James, I know that its difficult to understand why others like you. I get that too. So many people have hated me for so long for being the way I am. It doesn't make sense but, sometimes, we have to listen to why people like us. And this is what I'm here for. To help you understand why people like you.
For some it can be you becoming thePresident, and saving the country from complete collapse. For others, it can be your messages of affirmation that they dont get from others, while many just like your presence in total!
Everybody has their own take on how they like you and feel love, warmth and comfort around you. Even if its the whole time for some or a couple of seconds/messages to others. They all add up and count.
I know, its difficult to understand why they like you, but what I find that helps is just accepting it. Let them love you, care for you, send you messages of comfort and cherish them. Save them. Hold onto them tightly. It will slowly affect you
Once you start to accept the messages and hold them in your heart, you'll feel yourself start to smile. Not at the screen. Not at the people on the otherside of it. To yourself. Yes, yourself. You'll start to accept yourself for the good side of you. Yes, there maybesome bad parts, but most people are loving you for all of you. Everything. Every single part of you.
So just, relax, be calm and let them spread affection and you understand it how you like.
As they say, slow and steady wins the race.

Inktober Day 13: "Dune" A super quick and pretty rough one today. Whenever I hear the word "dune" I'm always taken back to the day I spent the whole journey to and from Chessington World of Adventure listening to my tape of "Dune Buggy" by The Presidents Of The United States Of America. It only had that song and a live version of "Peaches" and it was at least an hour and a half there and back. They're both great tracks though. I was gonna draw the spiders, but to be honest I forgot to draw them before I started inking. Big fail. . . . . #dune #illustration #dunebuggy #inktober #buggy #inktober2020 #drawing #day13 #beachbuggy #thepresidentsoftheunitedstatesofamerica #pusa #thepresidents #potusa #dippen #ink #inkdrawing #indianink (at Ipswich, Suffolk) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGSh-Y_sfGj/?igshid=1dib5wq5qybzo
