Dingy Misconceptions

   The tall, sleek vampire dragged his gloved fingers along the spines of books on a shelf labeled 'religion.' A sneer peeked from his upper lip as he paused, taking a look around him. The bookstore was rather quiet for having this many people walking about. Maybe twenty people or more -he wasn't really counting. He could smell them, every one of them. They reek. His nose scrunched up in disgust as he adjusted his fedora. He hated humans almost as much as he hated books. Books lie, you see. Or at least the ones that claim to know the mythology on vampires. Idiots, the lot of them, he grunted.

   As his hate grew within him, he began to wonder why he indulged in the faerie's need to come to this bookstore in the first place. He turned past the shelf to look at the baldheaded creature who had his nose in a book with an intense look on his face. What could he possibly be this interested in? Falhar squinted at what he could see of the cover. Dracula. He could feel his anger burn within him and was next to the faerie within just a few quick strides.

   Falhar decided quickly to remain calm. Reacting violently wasn't cool; and Falhar was the epitome of cool. Or at least he thought so. "I thought you came here for research?"

   "I did," Ozzie replied without taking his eyes off the page, "but then I saw this and I couldn't resist!" He paused a moment and looked up at the vampire. "Do your people really turn into bats and fly away?" 

   Falhar couldn't decide what was more insulting; the fact that Ozzie actually believed such fiction or the fact that he flapped his elbows as if to imitate flight after transformation. He grabbed the book with a hand, closing it with a loud slap. Ozzie nearly jumped a foot in the air, resting a hand over his heart in shock.

   "What was that for?!"

   "I've already told you these books are dingy misconceptions of vampires. Don't insult me by entertaining the thought." Falhar placed the book back on the shelf. "It burns me to know people will actually pay even a clam for this baloney." 

   "I think it's quite fun!" Ozzie wore toothy grin. "Ever even wondered what it'd be like to turn into a bat?"

   "No."

   "You don't find it amusing at all?"

   "I find it as amusing as you find people thinking you're a vampire as amusing."

   Ozzie's face grew serious, "Okay, point taken."

   "How's about we blow this joint? They have a thing called 'internet' these days, you know."

   "I suppose you're right. You know, I hear wikipedia is actually a God."

   "And I heard faeries were actually two inches tall."

   "Fair enough."

I REALLY REALLY DON'T KNOW. MY FRIEND WAS WATCHING IT AND I KNEW SHE WOULD NEED COMFORTING. IT WAS JUST AS PAINFUL AS THE LAST TIME. I ONLY TEARED UP THIS TIME THOUGH. I DIDN'T SOB MY EYES OUT VIOLENTLY LIKE THE FIRST TIME.

"Dead people should smell good so you can stand around and look at them and feel really rotten about what happened."

"I'm going to stand around and look at you and feel really rotten no matter how bad you smell, Gino."
