And it really stirs up the ol' brain worms bc, coincidentally, due to me focusing on Emmrich's arc end quest first and then doing ALL the sidequests for others/regions before continuing with MSQ, there is a DISTINCT lack of interaction between Rook and Emmrich after this huge life changing decision that feels PERSONAL AND IT HURTS MY FEELINGS HAHAH even though it's definitely due to my slow pacing and video games being video games, bc he seems SO busy and he is ALWAYS talking with Hezenkoss skull when I go visit so he doesn't even say HELLO DARLING or ANYTHING. NOT EVEN A CRUMB OF AFFECTION. (DOESN'T HELP THAT EVERYONE ELSE IS HOOKING UP AND BEING ADORABLE!!!) So that combined with him SECRETLY mourning Manfred, even though he literally just accomplished his life's dream, is a knife in the heart! WHAT IF HE IS PURPOSEFULLY KEEPING HIS "INAPPROPRIATE" SADDER FEELINGS FROM ROOK OUT OF FEAR OF BEING MISUNDERSTOOD THAT HE REGRETS HIS LIFE CHOICE. (Rook and Emmrich are a new thing after all, and Emmrich is a bit tightlipped with his more complex emotions such as his age gap insecurities, and apparently this issue is more pronounced if he chooses mortality)

And of COURSE he's to struggle enormously under the weight of EITHER of these choices, and I'm so glad the nuance exists (even tho I haven't seen this davrin interaction myself yet). And yes I want angsty fic about it! I want Emmrich to cry in Rook's bosom!!!
