fanart where sanji looks like a hot mess is something so personal to me
bc don’t try and tell me that he looks perfectly prim and proper while having his nerves constantly fucking SHREDDED by luffy sneaking into the kitchen and being generally rambunctious, Zoro, well, existing, franky getting up to some mechanical fuckshit that’s loud as hell, usopp getting caught up in what luffy is doing and doubling the rambunctiousness, and smoking six packs a day.
He’d be an overstimulated mess. This man would have his tie hastily redone, blonde flyaways galore, wrinkled pants, bags under his bloodshot-ass eyes, the whole nine yards.
And I get that the contrast between him fucking screaming at the guys, cooking all damn day, and fighting (catching fire while doing so) and still looking like a twinky slut with a nine-inch waist (argue with the wall, I won’t hear it) is the whole gag. I understand the dissonance!
I just still adore seeing ppl who love these characters, to the point where they put time and effort into crafting their images by hand, take one look at the guy and say “this guy? Oh nah man, this mofo is clearly holding on by a singular thread and it is fraying… I love him so much.”
Anyway I love artists and the way they’re able to interpret and understand the same characters in such vastly disparate ways. If he’s gonna be a gross perv in the manga and anime, then it’s our god given right as fans to draw him looking like a raccoon found behind a Waffle House drinking vodka.
pls send any gremlin sanji art my way

well since you asked so nicely, what are all your straw hats sexuality (and gender identity?) headcanons :D
ps you dont have to explain them all if it's too much for you ^^
I love you so much for this mwah mwah /p I love when people send me asks like this <33
: ̗̀➛ [Luffy] Sexuality: Aspec. I'm very, very specific with this so I would have to write a whole paragraph to explain it well, but I'll try to do it in fewer words. I used to headcanon Luffy as asexual but the demi-sexual headcanon is growing on me. Only sexual with Zoro, though. Like- I ship Luffy with more people but imo he only feels sexually attracted to Zoro. Something something 'the bond between a captain and his first mate'. Romantic attraction: I can see him being demi-romantic (once again only romantic with Zoro. Or Sanji, even) but I personally see their relationship very Aroaspec QPR. Aromantic and Demi-sexual with a very deep bond with his first mate and his cook. Gender: Transmasc. Demi-boy. He/They. I think he, like, resonates more with being a boy but still doesn't fit the binary enough to be one. And transmasc because. Well. Have you seen him?
: ̗̀➛ [Zoro] Sexuality: Homosexual. Gay. The gayest man you've ever seen. I think he's demi-sexual too in the sense that only Luffy or Sanji would make him go insane and aroused, but he would sleep with other men just because. Like fr, just because he can. Idk. Homosexual behavior everywhere. He's so fucking gay. If there was a gay contest between OP characters he would probably win or end up in a tie with Nami, Law, and Kid. Romantic attraction: Demi-romantic. This dude is obsessed with his captain only. First mate things. I seriously believe that being a first mate makes you inherently unable to fall in love with somebody else. Well, perhaps Sanji too, but I'm not that much of a Zosan so I don't think about how they would work. And still, he'd be Demiro anyway. Gender: Transmasc guy because, once again, have you seen him? Dude even has a scar on his chest. Man tits. Love him. He/Him.
: ̗̀➛ [Nami] Sexuality: Graysexual Lesbian. Some might argue with me on this because she has a different girlfriend every arc, but I honestly think that she only feels genuine sexual attraction sometimes and it's not often. Playfully flirting doesn't equal genuine sexual attraction. Romantic attraction: Grayromantic Lesbian. Because, once again, people might not agree with me, but I think she doesn't have crushes often and she falls into more of a romantic gray area. Never with men, though. God forbid. Never with men. That much is clear, I hope. Gender: Demi-girl. She/They. My babygirl. My girlboss. Like I said with Luffy, I think she embraces being a girl but still doesn't fall into that term exactly and doesn't mind They/Them or more androgynous looks/terms at all. In fact, she loves them.
: ̗̀➛ [Usopp] Sexuality: Bisexual. I love him. He be pulling blonde bitches everywhere and by blonde bitches I mean Kaya and Sanji. Something that always makes me and my BFF laugh is the fact that he's canonically very normal about women's bodies, unlike Brook or Sanji or even Franky. Like, he's pretty decent and respectful and he's, well, a normal human being. I appreciate the bare minimum when half of the characters are perverts sometimes. Romantic attraction: Birromantic. Pretty much the same thing I just said. Simple guy. So true, king. Although I like the Demi-romantic headcanon and I think he doesn't really get love at first sight and would be bothered by Sanji's view on this. I think Usopp is somebody who needs intimacy to develop a romantic crush on someone. So, yeah, I also like the demi-romantic thing but this could be just me trying to make everyone Arospec for no reason other than projecting. Gender: Non-binary. He/They but prefers They/Them, he just doesn't expect people to use those pronouns, and it isn't that big of a deal. Also transmasc. I'm obsessed with that, honestly. However, I think he wouldn't use the term Non-binary? I think he'd just use Unlabeled, perhaps.
: ̗̀➛ [Sanji] Sexuality: Bisexual with a high preference for girls. For obvious reasons. Romantic attraction: Birromantic too. He's a hopeless romantic. Believes in love at first sight and everything. Gender: Transfem. Genderfluid. Any pronouns. I love you, Sanji. You're real to me. And I'm not explaining my reasons for these headcanons because watching the show is enough for you to understand this, but between his trauma and Momoiro Island... Like... I know what you are, girly pop. The closet is glass and the egg is hatching and you need to come out. Oda, please, let her ou-
: ̗̀➛ [Chopper] This one's just, like, Chopper. Chopper is Chopper. I don't think about this much. He canonically likes female reindeer. I have nothing else to say. Gender? Little guy. Sexuality? Honestly, if somebody gives him a reindeer boyfriend I support that. So bisexual and birromantic, I guess. I don't know how it works for him. I don't think he cares. It's not that he's too young because he's canonically a teenager already, I just don't think they've encountered enough reindeer for me to form an opinion on this. Why the hell am I writing so much to say something so fucking stupid. I'm sorry. Let's move on.
: ̗̀➛ [Vivi] Sexuality: Demi-sexual Lesbian. I don't think she's ever thought about sex as something she wants or feels attracted to. At least not until Nami shows up. Romantic attraction: Lesbiab. Lebanese. Dyke. Bollera in Spanish. Girl kisser. Woman liker. Homosexual. No men allowed between her legs and her heart. Friend of Ellen, as Annie Edison would say. Gender: I think she's a cis girl. She/Her. Would literally punch violently anyone who misgendered somebody from the crew. My princess. My girlfriend, actually. Her pronouns are loveof/mylife.
: ̗̀➛ [Robin] Sexuality: Bisexual but also probably Graysexual because I don't think she feels attraction often and doesn't really get aroused if it doesn't come with other emotions. Preference for big, and gentle men. By big, gentle men I mean Franky and Jinbe. And by gentle I mean Brook. The four of them together, btw. Romantic attraction: Birromantic. I think she's just, like, vibing. Learning to love. She has so much trauma she deserves to be in a tender relationship and she just happens to be with four men but she knows how to appreciate a woman. Gender: Transfem. She/Her. You know those older trans women who give the most comforting, calm, mature energy in the world? That's Nico Robin. Gonna keep it SFW but she tops Franky 100%. And also helped Sanji with her transition. I love this. Please adopt me, Robin. She's perfect.
: ̗̀➛ [Franky] Sexuality: Bisexual. If a man doesn't know how to appreciate another man's beauty, then he isn't manly enough. Women are perfect. Men are perfect. He's wonderful. I love him. Romantic attraction: Birromantic. I swear to fucking god he has something going on with Jinbe and Brook and Robin. I am so not normal about them- Gender: Cis man but he'd probably consider being a cyborg a third, secret gender, so I'm gonna let him have that too. He/Him.
: ̗̀➛ [Brook] Sexuality: Bisexual classy grandpa. The fact that he's a gentle grandpa has a lot to do with his sexuality (no it doesn't). He might be a pervert around women but at least he supports consent, so, he's better than Sanji here. Romantic attraction: Grayromantic because I feel he doesn't get real crushes easily. Especially since his boyfriend (his former captain) died. The trauma he probably has around romance now, damn. Gender: Hear me out he's the most Unlabeled thing ever. He/They. He's just bones and most people don't even know how to tell the difference between sexes when it comes to bones. Robin is actually the only one who knows his AGAB and she doesn't care anyway, so. Gender norms are bullshit and he's just the Soul King.
: ̗̀➛ [Jinbe] Sexuality: Graysexual and Bi. He's somewhere there in the Ace spectrum. I just don't know where. I think he's, like, not that interested in bodies and sex? He would only have sex with somebody he loves and it wouldn't even be for the arousal and the attraction. Romantic attraction: Demi-romantic, which is not the same as gray. Because I think he'd need, like, to spend time with Robin/Franky/Brook to form a deep bond and then he'd slowly and gently start falling for them individually. I swear I am so normal. Please, they should adopt me. I want the four of them to be my parents. Gender: Cis man. He/Him. Biggest trans supporter in the whole fucking world.
The Going Merry is actually called the Going Liberal and the Thousand Sunny is technically the Theysand Sunny and with the help of their ships the straw hats are trying to find the Woke Piece.
#one piece always saying trans rights#okay you might notice that i'm projecting on most of them but i like aroaspec characters#one piece#strawhat pirates#monkey d. luffy#roronoa zoro#nami#usopp#black leg sanji#tony tony chopper#nefertari vivi#nico robin#franky#brook#jinbe#not gonna tag the ships but yeah it's zolusan/sanuso/namivivi/and whatever the adults of this ship have going on

Warnings- glory hole, oral (male receiving), smut with plot, bi-sanji, if you homophobic or under 18 get outta here! go on! get!
Word Count- 3.3k
———————————💕———————————
Being the gentleman I am, I like to treat my lovers right. Care for their every need, make sure they feel loved and valued. I do this in any and every way I can. Taking my time, trying not to indulge too much in myself.
My lovers are very few and far in between, but I cherish every one of them. I’m not the type of man to go for a quick fuck, giving in to animalistic behaviors. No, that’s for uncivilized morons who can’t keep it in their pants long enough to pleasure a woman.
Though, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get a little selfish sometimes. Especially if it had been a while. Today was one of those days in fact. Eyes roaming a little too much on my beautiful crew mates, any touch of the skin seemingly setting me ablaze. I craved release, I so desperately needed it and I’d do anything to get it. Usually some alone time would fix all my problems, unfortunately that was not the case for today. No, today, I needed the real deal.
When we dropped anchor at our next island, everyone decided to do their own thing. My loves Nami and Robin went shopping. Chopper, Usopp and Luffy went exploring. Zoro going off on his own, which was never a good idea. Then Franky and Brook stayed behind to watch the ship. This was the perfect time for me to go out, do some shopping of my own, and satisfy my sensual craving.
On every island we went to there was at least one sex shop, or brothel. I didn’t like the idea of paying for sex, or using a beautiful woman in that manner. It made me feel like the scum of the earth in fact. Though desperate times called for desperate measures.
After a while of searching, and asking a couple shady gentlemen, I found myself at my destination. This sex shop in particular was something for those with a particular fetish. The men who loved the idea of fucking or getting sucked off by someone entirely unknown. You don’t see them, and they don’t see you. A glory hole if you will.
The idea had my whole body running hot. My mind is racing with possibilities. I preferred to see my sexual partners. Yet I couldn’t turn down a naughty new experience. I was feeling more selfish today anyways.
———————————💕———————————
Walking into the establishment it was definitely shady. The building was tiny and had no markings. I ducked to get through the door, and had to look down at the woman sitting in a sort of concession booth. All of this made my stomach churn, and I can feel myself start to sweat from nerves. For a split second I thought to turn back, go and get off how I normally do… before I knew it I had already pulled out my wallet and paid my way in.
This was so wrong, but I could already feel myself straining in my jeans. The room was decent size with about 6 different holes to choose from. With luck on my side there were only a couple guys in there. The smell of cigarettes and sex permeated my scenses almost making me feel light headed. I cleared my throat and tugged on my tie, putting out a cigarette of my own. At least today I didn’t have to worry about tasting like an ashtray.
Walking further into the room I could hear women’s moans and men groaning. My heart raced as I looked around trying to decide what I wanted today. I looked at the vacant holes in the walls and bit my lip. It was very rare for me to receive a blow job, and it was definitely one of the most selfish ways a man could get off. I walked towards the wall, and looked at the two holes. It was hard to choose, especially not knowing who was on the other side.
Behind one of them I swore I could hear some faint whispering. I pressed my head and ear against the wall trying to listen. When I heard nothing I decided to speak a little myself. “Hello? Love? You okay in there? I hope you’re okay with all of this!” I wait a little, thinking maybe I’d get a response. Though I knew that’d ruin the immersion, she was most likely also ordered not to speak. For a second I heard some shuffling and a bit more whispering. Maybe she was nervous! Maybe this was her first day!
“Okay my love! Don’t worry, you don’t have to respond. Just take your time.” I slowly unbuckled my belt and pushed the front of my pants down just enough to pull myself out. I was throbbing at this point, tip bright red. I groaned when the cool air hit it, too damn sensitive. With a deep breath I tried to keep myself steady. “Alright dear, it’s coming in now, go ahead when you’re ready.”
I push myself carefully through the hole in the wall, my legs spread and my body pressed up against it. At first there was nothing, I didn’t even hear a sound. It was almost as if the person on the other side had completely disappeared. I knew they were still there though, I could sense them. After a few moments, I heard some shuffling and then I felt a warm breath on my member. I hum softly, balling my hands into fists against the wall, nearly gritting my teeth.
“That’s it, go ahead my love, don’t be shy!”
Just like that, my cock is enveloped in the wet warmth of their mouth. I immediately moaned out. Feeling the wet muscle make it’s way around my tip. God it felt so soft, so warm, just so good. If I didn’t steady my breathing and keep my cool I knew I’d burst in her mouth right then and there. The urge to start moving rolled over my body, though I didn’t want to make her feel pressured.
Mere seconds go by and I feel them pull off. I worry a bit, though my anxiety is soon soothed by the warmth of her mouth yet again. Her lips wrapped so perfectly around me it was almost as if she was made for me. I groaned and bit my lip hard.
“That’s it, good girl! Your tongue feels so good…” I pressed my forehead against the wall, feeling a sharp breath blow out their nose. Then without warning, they sucked harder. Letting me slide all the way down her throat. My moans were uncontrollable now. She was sucking me in so good I knew I wasn’t going to last long. “Agh god! Slow down princess, you’re gonna make me cum early!” I let out a whine, and they just hummed around me. Bobbing back and forth with such ease. This definitely wasn’t her first time.
My mystery lover was soon pulling away yet again. I gasped for air and let my member throb, immediately missing the contact. Precum was leaking out of the tip and dripping on the floor. My body was covered in sweat, and I knew my cheeks were a bright shade of pink by now.
“Oh please my love! Your mouth feels like heaven! Won’t you please let me finish! What did I do to get such an angel like you!”
Through the wall I could hear a bit of whispering, shortly followed by a finger running over my slit. I gasped, then braced myself as their fingers slid down my cock. They were surprisingly firm, yet so so warm, and just as gentle as I imagined they’d be. She gently stroked me with her fingers as her mouth came to my tip yet again. Licking back and forth over the nerve at the tip of my cock.
With my eyes rolling back I knew I couldn’t hold back anymore. Gently I hammered my fist into the wall and let out a breathy moan. Just as I was about to burst, I could have sworn I heard a whisper of “cum for me…” on the other side of the wall. Whole body tensing, I came into my pretty mystery girl's mouth. They hummed and moaned all around it, and it made me so happy to know she loved this just as much as I did.
Feeling myself getting emotional as she pulled away, I started to thank her profusely. Praising her, making sure she knew how much I appreciated her work. Wishing I could take her away from here, make her feel just as good as I did. Yet I knew she couldn’t, I knew she wouldn’t, and I knew I’d never see her again. Wiping a single tear off my face, I slowly pulled myself from the wall. That was undoubtedly the best orgasm I had ever had.
Even though I was happy, my craving was satisfied, I still felt a lingering sense of loneliness and hunger for something much more. These were feelings I just couldn’t deal with right now. I came here for one urge only, nothing more.
On the other side of the wall I heard some rather loud shuffling. I put myself back together, and pressed my hand into the wall. “Thank you for everything ma cher, you were truly amazing. If you’d ever like me to repay the favor, I’ll be docked on the east side of the island. Our figure head is a lion, you’ll know it when you see it! Take care my love, thank you again.”
Little did I know that my words fell on deaf ears.
———————————💕———————————
Soon after my mission was complete, I made my way to some local shops and picked up everything I needed. With a smile on my face I soon arrived back at the ship. There I saw Nami and Robin had made it back, as well as Zoro. The girls were looking at all the stuff they bought, while Zoro sat on the steps zoned out.
Naturally I gushed over my loves, too distracted to fully notice Zoros stare. After telling the girls to show me their new outfits later, I made my way to the kitchen. I felt Zoro get up and follow me. Right as I was about to yell at him to make himself useful and help me put stuff away, I heard our captain yelling about being hungry. He must have just got back. We both groaned for what I thought was the same reason, and I made sure to yell loud enough he could hear me.
“You’ll get your damn dinner soon! Just be patient and wait like everyone else!” I hear Luffy groan loudly and run around the ship. As soon as I was about to turn my attention back to Moss head, he was gone. Useless idiot probably didn’t want to be put to work so he went to hide. Bet that jerk wanted to start a fight with me anyways. While mumbling to myself I put all the groceries away and immediately got to work on dinner. My afternoon events had surprisingly made me feel hungry.
———————————💕———————————
At dinner everyone was in a good mood. Brook was singing, Usopp, Luffy, Chopper and Franky were dancing, and my girls were smiling and giggling as well. It was perfect. I couldn’t remember the last time I felt this relaxed. Yet, something was off. It was like someone was missing. I looked around at the dinner table, and immediately spotted an empty chair. That’s when it hit me, Marimo was nowhere to be seen.
With a raised eyebrow I crossed my arms and looked to Luffy. “Hey! Where’s Zoro? Didn’t you tell him dinner was ready?”
“Huh? Oh yeah! He said he didn’t wanna be bothered, so I said I’d just eat his food. He didn’t seem to mind!” With a laugh Luffy continued to dance and gulp down any food that was in front of him.
Zoro never said no to a meal, and he was acting strange earlier. I knew I shouldn’t have to worry about him, but what’s his deal? With a grumble I leave the kitchen and make my way up to the crows nest. Of course he’s there, lifting those ginormous weights like usual.
I glare at him as I stand on the ladder inches away from him. It was obvious he knew I was there, yet he chose to ignore me. “Hey asshole! Dinners ready! Come eat before Luffy eats it all! I won’t make you anything extra.”
Zoros back tenses and he drops the weight. I stumble on the stairs as the crows nest rattles from the impact. “Hey!”
“I'm not hungry, leave me alone.” Stepping over his weight I watched him grab a towel and wipe his face. Not hungry my ass! I climb into the room and shove my hands into my pockets.
“Since when are you not hungry? What’s wrong, did you eat already?” I glared at the back of his head. His body was covered in sweat and his breathing was ragged, back still tense. Nudging his boot with my shoe I tried to get him to look at me.
“I said leave me alone curly, I’m not in the mood.” Jesus Christ, who pissed in his corn flakes? Sure as shit wasn’t me.
“Alright, how ‘bout this. I sit here, and you just tell me what’s wrong when you’re ready. I’m not leaving until you do.” Sitting on the bench I looked up at him, briefly seeing the side of his face before he turned. An almost growl erupted from his chest as he rolled his shoulders cracking his neck. “Look, I don’t know what you’re deal is but-”
“Would you stop! I don’t want to hear you speak. I don’t even want to see you or be near you right now. I’m doing everything I can to hold back, so just…” Zoro's tone was teetering somewhere between a yell and a plea. He sounded almost desperate to have me leave.
“Then don’t hold back! I’m not going any-”
“Was that you?” Zoro cut me off abruptly. This whole time, still not looking at me.
“What?” I raised a brow looking over his body, trying to find some sort of clue in his body language. Uncomfortable was the best way I could describe it at this moment.
“… in the- the glory hole.”
My heart jumped into my throat and I felt just as nauseous as I did when I walked into that place. How did he know? Was he there? I didn’t see anyone with green hair. I grabbed the hair on the back of my head trying to figure out what was going on here. There’s no way he was there, Zoro would never go to a place like that.
“Well!? Was it?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about! How did you even-”
“God dammit. Alright. I fucked up! I needed some cash so I saw a place that was paying a shit ton of beri to work for just a day. I didn’t realize what the place was until they shoved me into a room. They told me not to speak to the clients and that I’d have to stay until nightfall. Needless to say I didn’t do that. Anyways, what I’m trying to say. That was me, and I’m 100% certain that that was you.” Zoro rambled fast, then took a step back to turn around. His arms were now crossed as he looked at me. Cheeks flushed, jaw clenched, eyebrows furrowed.
Realization hit me like a water train. My heart started to race, and I immediately started to sweat. Th-that wasn’t a beautiful woman? But- she was so soft? I looked at him flabbergasted. Not knowing what to say or where to even go from here. How does one recover from accidently having their best friend suck them off?
Zoros cleared his throat, making me come back to reality for a bit. Finally starting to find words. “So. That was you then. You um, just sucked me off, just like that?” Leaning back on the bench I laid one arm over the back while my free hand covered my mouth. Doing anything to avoid his gaze. I get why he was being so weird now.
“Yeah, I did. I'm sorry. I needed the cash, and they locked me in there. To be honest I’m kind of glad it was only you.” I looked up at him again and saw him looking at his boots. Hands now in his pockets, and his cheeks were bright red.
With a deep breath I stood. To my own surprise, I wasn’t bothered by this as much as I probably should have been. This must have been just as embarrassing for him. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that it still was the best orgasm I had ever had. With a smirk I looked at him and wet my lips. “Hey, it’s okay, no harm no foul. Did you get paid at least?”
Zoro sighed and shook his head, hand moving to his mouth. “No, because I broke out of there they didn’t pay me.”
My hand slapped over my own mouth as I tried to hold back laughter. Inevitably I failed and started laughing as I spoke. “Hahah oh my god! So you had to suck me off! And you didn’t get paid for it? Oh shit ahaha. Tough luck buddy, guess I-”
“Can-it cook! Be lucky I even let you cum! I could have bit your dick off the moment you stuck it in the hole! You’re the loser who went there in the first place!”
Wiping my tears away, I tried to stop laughing. He did have a point. I was fortunate that he did help me out, even though I was envisioning a woman the entire time. “Alright, alright!” I cleared my throat. “Okay, well I guess, thank you. Even though you ended up doing it for no reason. Did you uh, did you at least enjoy it?” I smirked at him, expecting him to start yelling yet again.
With a roll of his eyes, he licked his lips and shrugged. “Sure, whatever. You didn’t taste bad, so I guess it could have been worse.” While he spoke I thought back to when I came, and my once mystery lover hummed contently all around my cock. “What would it matter anyways? It’s not like it’s gonna happen again!” Alright, now why would he say that? I laugh through my nose and glare at him.
“Who the hell said that? That was the best orgasm I ever had. I’d be an idiot not to want to do that again.”
Eyes blinking rapidly, Zoro looked at me now. He damn near looked like a kid in a candy store. A better comparison being Zoro in a sword store. “Wait really? So you’d let me do that again? Like, without the wall?”
I grin and shake my head. “I mean yeah, why not. I’d have to return the favor though, since you didn’t get paid the first time.” I laugh briefly and Zoro looks at me with bright red cheeks.
“Are you sure? I don’t think I’d be able to hold back if-”
“Zoro, I’m more than sure.” Without hesitating I took another step grabbing hold of his arm and pulling him in. He tried to pull away, but gave in at the last second. I pressed my lips to his and felt him melt into me.
My free hand cupped the side of his face, deepening the kiss. Lips moving together so in sync it was like they were made to be together. Pulling away slowly, I looked at his heavy eyes. Completely glossed over, trying to catch his breath. I couldn’t believe I never noticed how beautiful he was until now. I never thought he’d ever be interested in me like this. Maybe I found my something more after all.
“Next time, I’ll make sure you get paid up front.”

"never have i ever" won out! just beat out "let's do the time warp" and luffy's pining, lmao. have a peek at the rough draft of the opening (text below the cut):
It had been Franky who mentioned “drinking games,” and, bored out of his mind with nothing but a calm stretch of sea and an even calmer night before them, Luffy had declared they should do it before Franky fully got the word “game” out of his mouth. Besides, it was a little early to bid everyone a good night and crawl under the covers, so he’d been met with the usual grumbling and dragging of feet before everyone gathered out on the lawn. Franky had then taken another good look at the crew, his eyebrows pulling together to form a deep line between his eyebrows as he asked, “Wait, can any of you even drink?” Usopp said they could make a drinking game out of every time Sanji swooned over Robin or Nami, to which he barked at him in annoyance and then immediately proved him right when Robin said that could prove amusing. It takes almost an hour: an hour of back and forth, of bickering between Sanji and Zoro when the latter says he probably can’t hold his own anyway; of ideas get pitched and then shot down because they want to drink and have fun, not end up with alcohol poisoning; of Chopper stressing out over said alcohol poisoning; of Luffy’s frown only growing because games are supposed to be fun and this is stupid. “We could play never have I ever,” Nami finally pitches, her voice dropping to a softer, scheming tone than the one she used a second ago to tell the others to shut the hell up already! Luffy side eyes her like her next pitch is to tie him to the mast. “How do you play that?” The corners of her mouth curl into a grin. “Oh, we’re going to learn a lot about one another tonight,” she says, at which Usopp sighs and looks up at their Jolly Roger swaying in the breeze, murmuring, “this is something I already regret.”

summary- request: prom hc
character s- Portgas D. Ace, Sabo, Monkey D. Luffy, Trafalgar Water D. Law
warnings- underage drinking, besides that none :)
a/n- so like I’m still a junior so I have no idea what proms like but I mean I seen a very movies sooo...I hope you still enjoy 💕
Unedited
Portgas D. Ace
Definitely the flustered type but he’s so unbelievably sweet about everything.
The classic type tho, showing up to give your roses and meeting your parents. Embarrassing by everything your parents say.
Ace was so sweet that your parents eve joke about y’all getting married and all that. It’s safe to say that the both of y’all left the house redder than the tie Ace was wearing.
As soon as y’all drove off tho, you were in total control of the date. All that Ace knew was what Garp and the others told them, so the rest of the night was all up to you.
Ace looked hella awkward when It came to the party. Ace is all down for a good party but a formal one, so not his thing. So a lot of the night he was following your lead.
Obnoxious eating? Yes. Drinking a lot? Yup. Passing out afterwards and scarring the shit out of the others? Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without it!
Y’all would met up Sabo and his crew and just goofed around for the most part. Sabo joked about y’all being a couple and all that, y’all would sneak off the pull pranks on the teachers, piss of the love-dovey couple, then did it all again
When it came to dancing, you and some other girls would go dancing while Ace and the others watch from the outside. When the slow dance came on you bet your ass your dragging Ace out.
Very lazy slow dancing, your hands wrapped around his neck with your face buried in the crook of it, while Ace’s hands rested on your bottom. y’all would sway back and forwards just embracing each and enjoying the warmth. and then once the song was over, the 2 of y’all would end with a passionate kiss.
The night was a pretty simple night, Ace wasn’t to into the party so he didn’t want to do much. As long as he was with you, he doesn’t care. You didn’t want to stay the whole night either, you just wanted to make your appearance hang out with the others a bit then leave.
Once y’all leave, y’all send the rest of the night as Ace’s place. Watching movies, ruining yalls clothes, then passing out in some tangled position. The drinks, food, and sore muscles is a problem for the morning
Sabo
Prom king and queen hands down. It’s just a known fact. Going with this man means the nights gonna be almost perfect.
Y’all would be the couple that has matching outfits. Like your dress with match Sabo’s blue tie, stuff like that. He would also spoil you as much as he could too when it comes to getting ready, like he’ll pay for you to get your nails and hair done.
And when it comes to the night of the dance he’ll pick you up, give you flowers, talk with your family, take you out to dinner, then y’all will arrive at the yall walk hand in hand to the ball room. As if y’all were royalty. From there on out, y’all let whatever happens.
When y’all arrive, Sabo was quick to find Ace and his date. You know damn well your not gonna enjoy the party without him. You didn’t mind tho, whenever the 2 of them are together crazy stuff always happens.
Not only does Sabo buddy up with Ace most of the night, but Ace is a social guy, having ties with a lot of people. So y’all spend a lot of the time hanging out with other people. Of course Sabo’s not going anyways where without his date. So if your not going Sabo ain’t either.
Not much time is spent on the dance floor because y’all are always with some group of people goofing off and talking. But once the slow dance comes on the 2 of y’all are definitely gonna be floor dancing.
Similarly to Ace, y’all have a very lazy dance style. Your hands around his neck and his hands wrapped around your waist. A few words would be exchanged between y’all but besides that’s y’all just enjoy each other’s embrace.
Y’all do end up staying most of the night. The plan was to leave a little after the slow dance after y’all had finished talking to everyone. Y’all were gonna join Ace and his date do a double movie date at their house. But everyone insisted y’all stay
So y’all end up staying bc luckily enough this is when y’all are named prom king and queen, it’s was mostly sabo who won but everyone still voted you too bc let’s be honest y’all are still a perfect couple.
But after the crowning y’all basically said your thanks you and all that then snuck off with Ace and his date to crash at their place.
It was a very active night with you and sabo talking with everyone and then being named prom king and queen. And as always to end a very active night, the 2 of y’all cuddle in each other arms and just savor the embrace of each other.
Monkey D. Luffy
Very spontaneous with this one. You don’t even know your going with him until like 3 days before. And he didnt event bother to ask you, someone brought up the question in which Luffy answered, “Oh, I’m taking s/o.” Never once did you hear anything about it
But although you had 3 days to buy a dress and schedule hair and make up appointments, you went anyways. A party with Luffy and the Strawhats, no way your were gonna miss out on this.
Now Luffy’s not as romantic as his brothers but he’s knows that he at least has to take you out to dinner, he mostly heard that from Grap and the others. However Garp seemed to forget to see Luffy when. But you got into the car you thought he just simply forgot, but it wouldn’t till after dance would he take you.
The dance it’s was a whole experience. You wouldn’t expect any less tho. With the strawhats involved it always a party that either ends in 2 ways: 1- in disaster or 2- not a planned at all.
To start of with, somehow they were able to find the alcohol?? Which shouldn’t even be on the school grounds?? And they were already drinking it like no tomorrow. Zoro was on his 5th glass already and Nami was in a drinking contest
Brook took control of the Dj booth was just playing songs at random, ‘big green tracker’ by Jason aldean then ‘kiss me more’ by Doja cat, then some classical track
Usopp and Franky were doing god knows what. Something to do with the lightings or something. Making the dance floor much more like a club. Sanji was chancing off a group of girls around the floor, and then finally Robin and Chopper were just in the back enjoying the food
They were all over the place but it’s what makes them the life of the party. Even though they were all over the place and doing their out think, Luffy was jumping around everywhere too but he still knows that y’all are on a date, so where ever he goes you follow behind.
This prom is definitely going down in school history. There is no way that people won’t be talking about it. Anything to do with the Strawhats goes down in history.
Of course unlike the others, y’all end up partying all night long and then crashing at some restaurants Luffy promised he’d take you. Although it wasn’t much of a prom date, you still enjoyed the time you spent with the others. And Luffy made sure to keep you close to his side all night long.
Trafalgar Water D Law
Law was that one cool senior, who had like a cool car and all that. With that being said, you were his 1 year younger lover. So while he doesn’t go to school anymore, he was still your date to prom.
Practically the talk of the school when y’all arrive, not because y’all are still dating but mostly because you were able to keep up with someone like him. With Law being cool he was still kinda a jerk, so having you with him was a relief
So law may be a jerk but he’s is a romantic one at least. Like sabo, he picks you up and gives you a bunch of flowers, he not to social with your parents but they are still cool with him. Then take you out to dinner
At dinner you joke about how he just left high school and now he’s back and how awkward it would be to see his old teachers. Of course, he doesn’t care. Law was more curious to see how the night played out. His senior year he didn’t go to prom so it’s the first with you.
When y’all first get to the party, Law’s pretty much glued to your side. Not because he find it awkward and uncomfortable but he just doesn’t know anyways besides the teachers. So you take him around and introduce him to all your friends.
Whether you introduced a boy or girl, Law kept a hand on you the whole time, almost as a way of saying that your his. This is when you first realized just how intimidating Law is. He really does seem to only have a soft spot for you. So when it come to dancing, Law stood near the wall letting you enjoy the dance floor with your friends without him.
He made sure to scare of any boy who got to close tho, as he watched you with such an intense gaze. However once the slow dance come on that all changed. You dragged Law out to the dance floor where y’all were both surrounded by a bunch of other couples.
Surprisingly for how much Law doesn’t say he’s not a good dancer he was amazing when it came to the slow dance. He was such a passionate dancing too, but so much love in the dance. With y’all’s hands intertwined and his hands resting on your hip and yours on his shoulder, the 2 of y’all swayed back and forward.
However once the slower dance was over, y’all really had no other reason to stay. So you law and a few other friends snuck out and just crashed at some bar where y’all celebrated both prom and graduation that was coming up soon.
Although Law already graduated, he would never miss an opportunity to share a drink and few heated kisses between his tipsy lover.

Her
A/N: what is up with me and writing about zoro and his admiration over his crush’s hair???
also this is lowkey a self-insert type of one shot 👁️👄👁️
The heavy pounding of the bass matched Zoro’s heartbeat.
The night was young and the party was lively. Bodies glued together swayed to the rhythmic music blasting through the speakers. The sounds of laughter blended with the chatter of the villagers.
Tonight was the Strawhat crew’s first reunion together after they had been separated for two long years.
Zoro was happy that they were back together. Ecstatic, even, to see his friends after not seeing them for a very long time and laying wide awake at night wondering if they were still alive and doing well.
However, Zoro was most excited to see her.
Her, who was sandwiched between Nami and Robin, danced carelessly to the upbeat song. Expressing the overwhelming joy that she and the rest of the crew shared.
Zoro would’ve joined her in the makeshift dance floor - his now larger arms wrapped around her tiny frame - and tried to follow her movements but he opted to watch her instead while moderately drinking his sake. Still remembering that she wasn’t a fan of alcohol or drunken people.
It wasn’t until much later into the night and the party had just died out did Zoro finally manage to have some alone time with her.
After the crew had reunited at Sabaody, the crew didn’t have the opportunity to greet each other or take in their appearances as they were too busy running away from Sentomaru and his army of soldiers.
Now, however, Zoro had the chance to take in her appearance.
Zoro couldn’t help his eyes as they trailed over her physique as he made his way to where she stood.
She was a naturally tan woman, though, she seemed to have developed a darker shade of tan, almost resembling a golden caramel color, after living in whatever island she had lived in for the past two years.
Her breasts were slightly bigger and more pronounced, heavily emphasizing that she was a woman and no longer a young adult.
She was just as slim as she was before. Though, the muscles in her arms were toned and her posture screamed that she wasn’t a woman to be fucked with. Challenge her and you would be wishing you were dead. A new trait that Zoro was surprised about when he had seen her fight earlier but greatly admired.
“You cut your hair.” It wasn’t a question. Just a mere observation.
Her once waist length hair that was as thick as a horse’s mane was now cut right above her ears which made her features sharper. However, if she forgone styling her hair upwards, Zoro was certain she would’ve had what he remembered Nami call a baby face.
“I did.” She said with a smile, her body leaned against the ledge of the Thousand Sunny. “Do you hate it?” She glanced at him through the corner of her eyes.
Zoro shook his head, “No.” he replied. He then brought his arm upwards and buried his fingers deep into her short tuft of hair, “It suits you.”
And he was right. She was beautiful with long hair - resembling those princesses that Kuina had often criticized whenever the elderly villagers had questioned her choices in becoming a swordsman - now, however, she looked ethereal.
The blush on her cheeks and the tint of red in his ears did not go unnoticed to either of them but they both chose not to comment on it so as to not ruin the moment.
“What made you do it?” The swordsman asked after racking his fingers through her hair one last tome and brought his arm back to his side.
She answered with a shrug, “It was too difficult to maintain. The island I lived on didn’t have any of the products I used to tame my hair and it was getting bothersome to deal with when I was training.” She said casually, completely unperturbed that her hair - which many people had idolized - was mostly gone. It sounded as if she was relieved with her decision.
Zoro nodded his head in understanding. He remembered how she would constantly tie her hair upwards and would complain about the weather being too hot whenever they embarked on a summer island. He briefly wondered if Nami was suffering with the same dilemma as her now that her hair is much longer than it used to be.
Silence settled upon them as the two gazed into the dark ocean. There weren’t a lot of stars tonight but the moon was full and it illuminated the ship enough for them to not need a candle with them.
In the distance, Sanji had finally managed to free himself from Luffy’s clutches and his insistent whines for more food despite almost emptying out their pantry that was meant to last them three weeks.
Just as he was lighting his cigarette, he spotted Nami, Robin, Franky and Usopp watching someone out of his line of view. He moved closer to where they stood and saw they were watching Zoro and Y/N who were standing awfully close to each other.
He took a large inhale of air, the first letter of Y/N’s name on his lips ready to be boisterously shouted so that she could pay him attention than that stupid moss head when he was roughly elbowed in the stomach. Sanji let out a painful “Umph!” and tried not to glare too harshly at the breathtakingly beautiful Nami.
“Shhh!!” She held her finger to her lips and Sanji wished it was pressed against his instead, “Can’t you see they’re having a moment?”
“A moment?”
Instantly, he was shushed to silence once again by the four. Sanji grumbled quietly to himself at the mistreatment but complied.
Sanji stood to Usopp’s right and watched the two do...nothing basically. Which was fine but he didn’t like how closely they were standing to each other.
He didn’t know how long they sat there watching the two gaze out into the ocean. Sanji would’ve fallen asleep from the boredom he was experiencing had it not been for Y/N to rest her head on Zoro’s shoulder and for the moss head idiot to rest his ugly head on her beautiful head.
But before he could react at the scandalous display before him, several pairs of hands were shoved into his face to silence him.
Though, it wasn’t Sanji who broke the spell the two crewmates were in. It was Chopper who sleepily bumped his head against Zoro’s leg and tilted his head as if to ask if it was time for bed.
Sanji watched as Zoro and Y/N smiled at their doctor and picked him up to head to the bedrooms below and Sanji felt a shiver rack his body at how much they resembled a loving family rather than a group of pirates who were feared all across the seas.

Amongst the trees
So. I’ve been having horrible writers block, the worst I’ve ever had, but then I saw b00giewara’s art on twitter. It’s so soft and pretty that finally, my mind and fingers ran. (Also, just the thought of post time skip Sanji in Water 7 outfit has me foaming at the mouth).
This sits in the same universe as Potato Peeling, for no reason other than I want it to.
Summary: On a lazy afternoon, there was nothing Sanji would rather be doing than helping Nami with her trees. Rating: T. Slightly suggestive.
This can also be found on AO3 and FFN.
Enjoy!
Sanji had been in the kitchen for a few hours already. Everyone had been fed for breakfast and lunch (Luffy a few more times since between then) and he’d used the lulls in-between to do his weekly inventory. He’d made more progress after lunch, only pausing to serve drinks.
The pantry was done, which took the most amount of time, and he was just about to wrap up with the fridge. As much as he didn’t mind doing the inventory, sometimes it was a nice quiet task, today he felt a bit restless. It was a beautiful day, sunny with the occasional soft breeze that took the edge off from the heat and he’d much rather be out there for once than in the kitchen counting supplies. It was his own fault really; he’d decided to do this.
However he quickly found a good reason to leave when he noticed the mikans were starting to look a bit low.
And thinking about mikans, naturally his mind drifted over to Nami. Which then lead to him thinking about how he hadn’t seen or heard Nami for a few hours either. It wasn’t overly unusual, during the day they both had things that had to be done but considering the lull- it was strange.
Poking his head out of the kitchen door and looking out onto the deck, there was no sign of her. Luffy, Chopper and Usopp were fishing, Franky was tinkering with something, Brook was down for his afternoon nap, he could hear Mosshead’s obnoxiously loud weights from the crow’s nest and Robin was sunbathing. But the sun lounger next to her was empty.
Nami’d mentioned in the morning that she’d wanted to catch up on her maps. Perhaps she was using the quiet afternoon to do that. He’d give her a tiny bit longer so that he didn’t distract her from her maps, but if she hadn’t appeared by the time he was finished, he would take a drink to her and coax her into a break.
With that in mind, he grabbed an empty wicker basket from the pantry and climbed up the ladder to the upper deck.
It was peaceful up there, only the soft wind and distant sound of the crew from the lawn deck could be heard. At first, he’d thought the humming sound was from the crew, it sounded far away, but the closer he got to the mikan trees, the louder it got, and he was starting to piece together where Nami actually was.
It was confirmed when he reached the trees and turned to see Nami bent over and doing something with the soil on the furthest tree from him. She hadn’t seen him yet, too engrossed, and angled away from him. He may have used the opportunity to gawk at her a bit. He may have also taken a few quiet steps to the side so he could get a good view of her behind. But they were together now, so it was acceptable.
“Taking in the view?” She asked, glancing over her shoulder at him and belatedly he realised the humming had stopped. Of course he couldn’t sneak up on the cat thief herself.
“It’d be rude not to.” And even though he’d been caught red handed, he still tilted his head like he hadn’t.
She shook her head at his antics, and his view was cruelly taken away from him as she stood to walk over to him. He could hardly sulk when it was replaced with her sunny smile.
“What brings you into my neck of the woods then?” She asked, taking off a gardening glove to brush a piece of hair out of the way. He wasn’t quite sure why she ever bothered with gloves, she always ended up covered in soil, something that was proven now with the stains on her dungarees.
“We’re getting low on mikans, so I thought I’d take advantage of the good weather to come pick some.” He caught her bare hand in his to press a kiss on the back in greeting, lingering for a second being letting her hand go.
Her cheeks pinked. “Great minds think alike. The weather’s perfect for taking a bit of time out for the trees,” she explained fondly. It was no secret amongst any of them how much they meant to her or how much she enjoyed doing this.
“What are you doing right now?”
“Well, Usopp gave me some compost for the soil, so with that done I’m moving onto pruning.” She’d turned to face the trees, already pinpointing branches and leaves that needed to be taken off. “Want to help? I think I saw Usopp’s shears somewhere around here.”
That was the last thing he’d expected her to ask him, and he was a bit stunned by it, so all he could muster up was a nod as he went in search for the shears.
It wasn’t entirely new territory. He’d helped her with her tress countless times. Held the basket, pointed out fruit she may have missed or perhaps a bad twig that needed to go; it was always assistant work.
Having his own set of shears was a whole new playing field.
As far as he was aware, no one helped with cutting her trees, not even Usopp or Robin and they were the other green thumbs on board. He’d never been bitter or offended by it, it was no secret how much these trees meant to her and he’d respected that.
But this. This new ground made him a bit giddy, how far they’d come since knowing each other and especially since they’d got together. How much she was trusting him. He was more than aware of how big this was.
He quickly found the extra set of shears from where she’d said they’d be and joined her back at the trees, his basket long forgotten.
“Show me what to do, I don’t want to mess this up.” Whilst he was still giddy, he was gradually getting more and more nervous. This was important and he didn’t want to screw it up. He felt like he was keeping his cool on the outside though as he stood next to her, even if he felt like he was about to have a meltdown internally.
Perhaps he wasn’t being that smooth with the knowing look Nami gave him, but she soon eyed his jacket instead. “Firstly, I think you need to look more the part. Let’s lose the jacket, you don’t want to mess that up.”
He followed her command, taking off his jacket and draping it across the railing. It was a pleasant enough day that he wasn’t worried about it being lost to the sea.
“Let’s leave the waistcoat on,” she said, trying to look innocent but he saw straight through it, although he was more than happy to let her have her way. “And the tie, it might come in handy later. But we could roll up the sleeves.”
Before he could do that himself, her hands were at his wrists, nimbly undoing the button and rolling the fabric up to his elbows. Despite the warm weather, goosebumps erupted along his forearms as her fingers grazed along the skin. They’d been together for a few months now, so touch was nothing new between them, but he wasn’t sure he’d ever get used to the casual touches he shared with her now. Don’t get him wrong, everything about their relationship was exciting to him, but it was the simplest touches and how comfortable she was around him that pleased him the most.
“That’s better.” She nodded to herself, hands lingering on his arms before pulling away and taking the shears out from one of her pockets.
“Thank you.” He smiled down at her tenderly and the flush she’d just managed to get rid of bloomed across her cheeks again. He found it adorable how the softest gestures flustered her the most.
“Right,” Nami said, clearing her throat and focusing back on the trees, “it’s quite simple actually. Cut any branches that are damaged, unhealthy or crossing over one another.”
“Like this one?” He pointed out a withered branch.
“Yes!” She confirmed brightly. “If in doubt, it probably needs to go, otherwise you wouldn’t have noticed it.”
He nodded in understanding and with that, they both started pruning. Nami had left him to have a tree all to himself as she worked on the one beside his. She moved confidently, barely batting an eyelid as she snipped away. He, on the other hand, moved more cautiously, considering each branch before cutting it off. She said not to overthink it, but he couldn’t not. He wanted to do a good job; he’d been entrusted with a whole tree.
A few branches in and his free hand was becoming full of branches he’d cut off. He glanced to the side, wondering where Nami was putting hers. She must have read his mind, because she met his curious gaze, smiled, and moved a basket between the trees they were both working on.
“Throw anything you chop off into the basket. Usopp likes them so he can add it to the compost he makes,” she informed him.
Sanji snorted at that, of course Usopp did. He wondered if the three green thumbs on board traded tips.
“Which, by the way, I’m pretty sure he’s sneaking coffee out of the pantry to use for his plants and to add to the compost,” she breezily informed him, already knowing what reaction she’d get from him.
“I knew it!” He said, outraged. His inventory checks had been off for ages and he’d been trying to figure out where the extra coffee had been going. “Now I have to fight Luffy off from the fridge and Usopp from the pantry. The one place I thought was safe.”
Nami laughed at his turmoil. “I’ll adjust the budget.”
He smiled at her gratefully for that.
They descended back into silence after that, and it was nice. It was just as relaxing as some of his tasks in the kitchen, but with the added bonus of fresh air and the sun warming his skin. He’d also say the company, but she spent a fair amount of time in there with him now anyway. But it was a nice change of pace to partake in one of her activities together for a change.
Nami’s hands didn’t falter as she softly broke the silence, “The first few weeks after leaving Cocoyasi village, I thought I was going to lose the trees, the constant change in weather made it hard to look after them.”
Sanji was silent as he let the information wash over him, it’d never crossed him mind before, but now he thought about it, it made perfect sense. “I never thought of that,” he said in awe.
Nami hummed in agreement and shook her head. “Me either! Normally in the winter they need more care and, in the summer, less, but with the fluctuating weather they were all over the place.”
He cut away another branch, throwing it into the basket before moving around the tree. He tilted his head to indicate he was still listening.
Nami continued, “It took a bit of figuring out and by the time I could get a book on it, I’d already figured it out. They’re like temperamental children, I just had to keep my eye on them a bit more than normal.”
Of course she’d figured it out, she was one of the smartest people he knew. “I’m glad you worked it out, the ship would look empty without them.”
“Me too, I don’t think I would’ve dealt with it very well back then if I’d lost them. Everything’d changed so suddenly back then but they were a constant for me, it helped having them.”
He frowned at that; he could only imagine how stressful that must’ve been, but she’d never said anything.
“Not to worry though, it resolved itself and now look at us,” she said, trying to ease the look of concern on his face and changed the topic swiftly, “You’ve done a good job.” She looked at the tree critically but nodded to herself.
She stepped forward and cut off a few additional branches that he’d hesitated over. “Maybe a bit overly cautious, but I knew you would be, that’s why I let you have the shears.”
He beamed at her praise and they moved onto the final tree, working on opposite sides until whatever they could reach was done. They both stepped back, proudly taking in the much neater trees, until they looked up.
“Any chance you’re tall enough to reach the top?”
He wanted to say yes so badly but as he eyed the height, he knew he wouldn’t be able to without actually scaling the tree. “Sorry Nami-san, I don’t think so.”
“Don’t worry, I knew it was a stretch.” She put her hand on his arm in understanding and looked up at the trees. “Bell-mère used to stand us on her shoulders to reach the higher branches she wanted to prune or pick off the fruit. She said it was good for us to learn, but I’m convinced she just didn’t want to haul the stool around with her.”
He laughed with her at that and briefly imagined how adorable the sight would have been until an idea came to mind. He crouched down in front of her and when all she did was blink at him, confusion written all over her face, he elaborated, “I can’t offer to stand you on my shoulders, but I can do this.” He patted a shoulder, trying to encourage her.
She was silent for a moment, stunned at the offer. “As much as I trust you and don’t doubt your strength whatsoever, are you sure you’re up for this?” She asked cautiously.
“Huh?” He blinked at her.
“My thighs are about to be either side of your head. I don’t want to brain myself on the deck when you go down like a sack of potatoes,” she deadpanned, eyebrow raised as she looked down at him.
“It wouldn’t be the first time my head’s been there,” he quipped, leering up at her, eyebrows wiggling suggestively.
She barked a laugh, hand slapping his shoulder half-heartedly in retribution but overall, she was too amused to be angry.
It took a bit of more reassurance to convince her, but as soon as he’d convinced her, he positioned himself and helped her get onto his shoulders. He smoothly rose to his feet, barely wobbling.
Hands down it was the best decision he’d never made. If he could assure Nami’s safety, he could die happily right now. There was so much of her everywhere. Her thighs snuggly sat either side of his head, he could feel the slightest brush of her breasts against the top of his head and her hands were in his hair whilst she adjusted to the new position.
“You okay down there?” She asked, half amused and half cautious, testing the waters to make sure he was okay.
“More than okay,” he replied happily, tilting his head to the side to pillow into her thigh. She was so soft; he was in heaven.
Nami snorted above him, shaking her head and tentatively removed her hands from his hair. When he stood solid, she reclaimed the shears from her pocket and started to snip again.
Before they could dip into silence, he asked, “How often did you tend to the trees together when you were younger?” He loved hearing about her childhood with Bell-mère and took any opportunity to ask about it.
Nami was more than happy to share. “We had a big orchard, so it was almost daily. It could be pruning, picking fruit, or tending to the soil. Although, me and Nojiko spent more time running through it playing games, not so much helping.”
His hand stroked up and down her calf absently, encouraging her to continue whilst he listened. He moved to the side after noticing she’d finished with a section before she had to ask.
“We definitely over pruned when we did help, but she never scolded us,” she continued, throwing a branch down into the basket at Sanji’s feet. “After that she just kept a sharper eye on us.
“Sounds nice.”
“It was,” Nami agreed, “I always ended up covered in dust and dirt. Kind of like now actually, not a lot has changed it seems.”
“It suits you.” And it was the truth. Whether she was in skimpy bikinis or dirtied dungarees, she was the most attractive person he’d ever laid eyes on.
They moved onto the last tree and by now the bucket was almost overflowing with branches and leaves. Usopp would be thrilled, no doubt.
“She sounded like an amazing woman,” he said after a moment, letting the stories Nami had told him of her Mum play in a loop in his head. In a different world, he wished he could’ve met her, to see how similar they both were and see that part of her life.
She didn’t need any prompting to understand what he was talking about. “She was,” Nami agreed, voice filled with warmth. “She’d have loved you -little to the left-” and he took a step to the left, “-she would’ve seen your smooth talk coming a mile away, mind you, but she’d have found it amusing.”
“Like Mother like daughter,” he quipped, squeezing her calf teasingly. Nami gave a snort above him and muttered something he didn’t catch, but continued, “I’d have loved to cook with her.”
“She never would’ve let you leave.”
“I have no complaints about that.” Her home sounded like it held so much warmth, Sanji thought to himself.
“What about you?” She asked, trying to sound confident but there was a waver in her voice. Sanji found it sweet, after all this time she didn’t want to bring up that part of his life. He didn’t mind, especially with her.
“Well, Zeff you’ll win over easily. He tries to deny it, but he has a soft spot for women too. He’ll just spend his time trying to embarrass me instead.” The day would come, he knew it, but for now he was safe. “I don’t remember a great deal of my Mum; I was too young. But I have no doubt that she would’ve loved you too. She was kind like you.”
“See, it’s that smooth talk that would’ve won you brownie points.”
“Even with you?”
“How do you think we got here?”
He couldn’t see her, but he knew she had that smart look on her face that he adored, and he rested his head back on her stomach. If she hadn’t been on his shoulders right now, he definitely would’ve pulled her into a hug.
“Okay, I’m done.” Her hands were back in his hair, shears stowed away in her pocket.
In a similar fashion to convincing her to get on his shoulders, it also took some persuasion on how to get her back down. They went back and forth, until Nami finally agreed (“If you drop me” “Never, Nami-san”) and then she was sliding over his one shoulder, wrapping her arms around his neck, and falling into his outstretched arms. To his credit, he stood solid.
“Reminds you of old times, huh?” He cheeked, beaming down at her in his arms.
“At least I didn’t have to fall through the air this time.”
He let her down onto her feet and he expected her to move away, onto the next task but she didn’t move. Instead, her hands dusted over his shoulders, trying to take off any soil that had transferred from her dungarees.
“It’s been a while since you’ve worn this shirt. I like it.” Her hands smoothed across his shoulders, feeling the texture of his orange pinstripe shirt and the way it fit him snugly. He’d filled out in the crew’s two-year gap, so where it used to fit loosely, it sat tighter across his shoulders. He would throw it away, because really, he knew he was pushing his luck getting into it, but when she reacted like that, he was more tempted to never take it off.
“I like your dungarees,” he said softly, his hand fingered the denim straps as hers rested at his waist. There were dirt stains littered across them, but there was something quite charming about that. Although that might just be because of the person wearing them more than anything.
His hand moved from the strap of her dungaree and swept an errant lock away from her neck, his hand filling the empty space, thumb soothing across her pale skin. The quiet, the rustling of the trees and their afternoon spent together all added to the atmosphere until it had them leaning in closer.
They’d done this so many times before that they read each other like a well-oiled machine. Her hands tightened on his waistcoat and he was going left as she went right until their lips met in the middle. It was slow, unhurried, like they had all the time in the world and really, they did. It felt like they did anyway as they embraced, with only the gentle breeze accompanying them on the upper deck.
They parted slowly, and in his case reluctantly, but the feeling soon passed when he opened his eyes to the sight before him. Nami looked truly relaxed, face nothing but content, half lidded eyes looking back at him and wind playing with her orange hair.
That soon changed when he leaned back into kiss her and was promptly denied. Gone was the serene expression, in its place were alluring, teasing eyes. The sudden shift would give anyone else whiplash, but Sanji knew what that look meant- it would only end well for him.
Her hand was on his tie, taking a step out of his embrace and promptly turning on her heel. She pulled him after her, which she didn’t really need to do because he was glued to her back in an instead, but he’d be lying if he said it wasn’t a turn on.
They didn’t go very far, only walking around the trees to occupy the gap between the trees and the main mast. In all honestly, Sanji had never really taken notice of it before, but he was glad for its existence when she pressed him up against the mast and heavily leaned into him. His body pinned between it and hers.
It was intimate and if anybody wondered up there, they’d be hard to spot. She positioned herself between his legs, something he more than encouraged as he made more space for her there.
If Sanji thought she looked breath-taking before, it was nothing compared to the angelic beauty before him now. The sun filtering through the trees casted her in a golden halo and her hair looked like molten gold, oozing around her, and making her look otherworldly. She was surrounded by orange blossoms and it was the perfect backdrop to encapsulate her, she belonged there.
Sanji wanted to burn the moment into his brain but Nami had other ideas.
Their next kiss was anything but slow, it was full of purpose. It was the kind of kiss they usually shared in private, not for someone to stumble upon by accident, but he definitely wasn’t going to complain. He matched her enthusiasm, lips sliding against each other’s and his hands found themselves in the back pocket of her dungarees as hers burrowed themselves into his hair.
“Good spot, right?” She murmured, not waiting for a response before reconnecting their lips.
If he’d had the chance the response, he wasn’t sure he’d have been able to actually verbalize his agreement. He was dazed, head spinning, trying to keep up, and although they’d done this a million times before and more, he didn’t think he’d ever be over it.
Although they couldn’t start anything out here, his body didn’t seem to know that as he shifted, ready to roll his hips into hers and hopefully progress to the bedroom if they could make it there undetected, until he felt something press into thigh.
“Is that shears in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”
It was a stupid joke, and it ruined the mood, but it was worth is when Nami broke into peeling laughter. Instead of throwing her head back, she burrowed into the crease of his neck, smothering her laughter so they didn’t attract attention. His arms left her back pockets, winding around her waist, pulling her into a hug instead. It wasn’t what he wanted, but they wind this down.
“That was such a stupid joke,” she said as she started to calm down.
“Yeah, it was,” he said fondly, still soaking in the warmth of her laugh.
“Although I suppose we should stop, otherwise you’ll be in a similar predicament and I still have things to do.”
“Me too.” He looked up at the sky and from the way it was starting to descend, he knew he should really start thinking about dinner. Except neither of them moved, but Nami did rest her hands more causally around his shoulders, matching his hold on her.
“Didn’t pick much fruit in the end, huh?” She joked, looking off to the side at the empty, abandoned basket.
He’d completely forgotten why he’d gone up there in the first place. “This is much better than what I’d expected.”
“Because you had your head between my legs?”
His eyes lit up and his grip tightened on her hips. “One of the perks, of course.”
“Maybe we could do something similar in my room later,” she suggested, in a provocative whisper, leaning closer.
This woman. She was everything he ever wanted. He didn’t give a verbal answer, he was pretty sure he couldn’t without wheezing a few times, but his enthusiastic nodding got the point across well enough, and it made her grin.
She rewarded him for his candour with a slow kiss that was over far too quickly for his liking.
“You free tomorrow? I can probably pencil you in for some fruit picking.”
“You’re too kind, Nami-san. Making time for lowly me in your busy schedule.”
“I’m nothing if not kind, Sanju-kun,” she agreed, winking at him. “Right, I really do have to go, see you after dinner?”
She was out of his arms and walking away before he could reply, grabbing the basket full of branches to sit at her hip as she went.
She knew the answer anyway- it was potato peeling night after all.
----------------------------------------
Urrrrrrrrrgh. I am so soft for these two, they’re so much fun to write being all soft and in love. This was so self-indulgent, and the story doubled in length because of it.
Usopp, Robin and Nami definitely get together to talk about plants/flowers.
I based my research on orange trees, so if there’s some differences, don’t come at me.
For some reason, my writers block has really exaggerated my imposters syndrome, so if this wasn’t your cup of tea, please keep it to yourself. Not sure I could handle it right now.
Also, just to tease because I’m definitely going to finish them, I had two other pieces planned for SaNami week before the writer’s block, they’ll be on the way.
As always, please excuse any errors.
Thanks for reading.

hi! can you do a post with all your favorite outfits of the strawhats + maybe a few other characters like Law, etc :D
ooh, this is such an interesting ask!!
-starting with luffy, i'm going to go pretty basic with his current onigashima raid look, tbh! it's the classic outfit which i really do think 'suits' (haha) luffy really well, but with the small twist of the captain's coat, which in my opinion really symbolizes just how much he's grown into being the strawhat's leader!! (and also looks,, really cool)
-for zoro, (can i go with the best pirates disguise? no?) i just think his skypiea fit is Real Neat. i mean, that little blue tank and the matching goggles? HIMBO SUPREME
-now, nami is a hard one because she's just such a fashion icon ALL THE TIME. i'm gonna have to go with the red cocktail dress from late wci!! it's classy, simple, and gorgeous. consider my wlw ass dead
-usopp! i'd have to say his fit from thriller bark. fits the vibe of the arc perfectly, and that hat is just,,, An Inspired Choice
-okay, sanji is another one who has a lot of really good options to pick from (and a lot of really bad ones, but that's for another day). i think my fav would be his sea train / enies lobby suit! once again like nami, this one is simple and classy. it's quintessential sanji. i also really love his early wci or onigashima raid outfits, though!
-chopper, my son!! i think that would be his very first little ensemble - love the old red hat and i think this one is just a little nostalgic and really cute :)
-robin, too, is a difficult one! maybe a little less so post-ts but all of her outfits are just so Good. i'd have to go with a tie between her very first look back in alabasta (aka the HIGHLY iconic purple cowgirl and white coat), and her edgier enies lobby fit (because she looks gorgeous in it and i'm bisexual,,,,,)
-hmmm. for franky, it's a little hard to decide because i really do love his original hawaiin shirt look (it's just... so classically franky) but in the end, i think i have to hand it to his design later on in dressrosa. damn if that canoneer hairstyle and tuxedo doesn't make him look badass
-brook! haha, gonna have to go with his initial introduction attire. it's just such a nice addition to his character dynamic as a whole, really exemplifying the whole 'estranged eighteenth century aristocrat' aspect of his nature
-okay for jimbei, i think it's an easy win with his onigashima raid look. what can i say, i'm a big fan of the cape :)
-and finally, law: his outfit from dressrosa!! i mean first of all, it just plain looks cool, and that sort of cape part of his coat is really good for the typical law dramatics. second of all though, the tributes to rosinante are just a really nice touch when it comes to detangling the emotional mess that is his relationship with the donquixote family, especially how he left the coat open to show off the corazon tattoo on his chest! he may have effectively planned a death mission, but at least he can declare his profound gratitude for rosinante's actions as he dies..?
this post is getting pretty long so i won't go on but i honestly loved this ask! character designs themselves aside, you have to admit oda's pretty good at creating all the outfits :)
#one piece#strawhat pirates#monkey d. luffy#roronoa zoro#nami#usopp#vinsmoke sanji#tony tony chopper#nico robin#franky#brook#jimbei#trafalgar d. water law#mugiwara kaizoku#wow that is a lOt of character tags#anyways thank for sending in the ask! have a nice day <3#asks#mn

Okay so, I was tagged into This post right here by @vinsmoke-luffy and since I didn't want to over complicate his/her/their post too much, I decided to answer the questions on a separate post. Thank you for tagging me buddy!
One Piece Questions
1. What got you into One Piece?
Honestly speaking, I saw one of the volumes in the local library and decided to read it. I found the thing to be interesting, but I'd only hear about the anime later on, around the age of 13. I first found out about the series when I was 6 years old.
2. What got you hooked into the series?
Oh man, it's been over a decade, it's so hard to say- probably the kindness that the characters portrayed, loyalty and friendship? Something that I'd totally yearn for taken in how oddball of a child I've always been.
3. Which character would you punch and why?
That's pretty much a tie between Black Beard, Akainu, Doflamingo and Big Mom, all four of them represent things that I absolutely despise; Lust for power, corrupt "Justice", lack of empathy/sympathy and abusive behaviour. I'd go into detail of why, but I am fairly sure that it's no brainer why I'd physically assault them on sight even if it'd probably cost me my life.
Sometimes, people who are in power, do not deserve the power they've obtained and in those cases they must be taken down before they can cause any further damage to the people.
4. Which moment will stick with you forever?
"Ikitai! Watashi wa isho ni umi ni tsureteitte!"
Robin's seyuu went all out in it and.. It made Something resonate in me. I am not sure what it was, but it'll stay with me to the end of my day's.
5. Which moment pops up randomly in your head?
The first time we meet Brook, that moment will forever haunt me. Brook's voice is so gentle and it just makes you pay attention to him in it along with just how nonchalant he is while he sips his imaginary tea.
6. Who is your favourite character and why?
Uhhhh I absolutely suck with choosing favourites, I can't even say what my favourite food is! But here's a list of the characters I'm attached to for no particular reason? I honestly never know why I like someone, it's not really that important to me, if you like someone, you usually like everything in that person. The following block of names isn't in any order because I am a chaotic dumbass.
Rosinante Donquixote, Coby, Eustass Kidd, Trafalgar D. Water Law, Killer, Shachi, Bepo, Penguin, Shirahoshi, Katamuri, Brulee, Pudding, Niji, Ichiji, Yonji, Reiju, Chiffon, Lola, Ikkaku, Portgas D. Ace, Sabo, Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Black Leg Sanji, Cat burglar Nami, God Usopp, Tony Tony Chopper, Nico Robin, Franky, Jinbe, Emporio Ivankov, Sengoku, Fujitora, Rebekka, Vivi, Koala, Tiger, Otama, Okiku, Komurasaki, Izo, Marco, Edward Newgate, Thatch
7. How much has One Piece impacted your life?
I am literally as old as the manga (23 years old (2020)) so uhh... Use that as a measure I guess? No, don't really do that. But it's.. It's kind of hard to say, I have been a fan of the series since I was six years old, I've laughed, I've cried, I've grown a lot during the 17 years that I've been part of this fandom.
I can't say that it hasn't had any effect on me nor my views, because I can say that a lot of the way how I look at certain things like familial bonds and friendships were heavily influenced by the series, but I can't even start to measure the amount of impact it truly has had on me.
8. What is your favourite One Piece quote?
“There comes a time when a man has to stand and fight! That time is when his friends' dreams are being laughed at! And I won't let you laugh at that!” - Usopp
“Stop counting only those things you have lost! What is gone, is gone! So ask yourself this. What is there... that still remains to you?!” - Jinbei
“The government says your existence is a crime, but no matter what kind of weapons you may hold, just being alive isn't a sin! There's no crime in living!” - Franky
“You can spill drinks on me, even spit on me. I'll just laugh about it. But If you dare to hurt my friends... I won't forgive you!” - Shanks
“When they are shot through the heart by the bullet of a pistol? No. When they are ravaged by an incurable disease? No. When they drink a soup made from a poisonous mushroom!? No! It’s when… they are forgotten.” - Hiluluk Doctor
“Compared to the "righteous" greed of the rulers, the criminals of the world seem much more honorable. When scum rules the world, only more scum is born.” - Eustass "Captain" Kid
“Inherited will, a man's dream, and the flow of time. As long as man continues to seek out the answer to freedom, these things shall never be stopped.” - Gol D. Roger
Honestly, I couldn't choose only one out of this bunch, I've tried before and I always fail because they all are equally meaningful to me as a person.
9. Which laugh style gets to you most?
I-
I honestly have never thought about it? I don't really notice things like laughing styles, because to me laughter is one of the most beautiful things on earth. It shows the joy within us. And when you come to my age (or this might be more about me as a person) you just... Stop paying attention to something like that? Especially if it sounds natural to your ear.
But then again, my friends time and time again have to remind me that my sense of what is normal is very flexible and abnormal by itself. I might pass a person wearing a horse head out in the public dancing whatever is The meme dance currently and not even realise that it's not something that'd normally just happen in my home town. Yes the before mentioned has happened before.
But yeah, to sum it up: I have literally never paid attention to the laugh quirks of the characters I just don't see them as something that should bother me or make me react to it in other way than being happy for the person to be comfortable enough to actually laugh the way they would laugh when they are alone.
It's just... Laughter?
10. How will you feel when One Piece ends?
The same way as I feel about anything ending most likely, I'll be melancholic over it ending, but happy to have experienced it.
Tagging: @nue-nue-nomi @shambledsurgeon @whereistheonepiece @shadowstormdragon (TUMBLR Y U NO LEMME TAG?!) @ohnoluffy @luffytarhoe
Though if you're interested in answering these questions in general, do take a shot at it!

The StrawHats with a Crewmate That Writes a Lot (Self Indulgent Imagine)
{Crew names are in bold so they are easier to find, as I’m just kinda writing my thoughts down so there is no specific order as to when they are written}
Info
(Name) is just, writing
Like
A lot
Something interesting happens?
Something Quotable is said?
Their pencil and Notebook is in their hands in a split second.
“I must write this down.”
Sometimes they seem to pull the Notebook and pen out of nowhere and just start writing in a chaotic moment or in a situation where they shouldn’t physically have access to it.
Example:
|Zoro and (Name) are hanging off a giant metal hook by a rope|
Zoro: Shit, how are we going to get out of this?
(Name): ‘The waves crashed below as the two pirates contemplated on what to do, the sea creatures below thrashed in the water as if excited to fight over a new meal, and-’
Zoro: Wait a minute-are you writing?!
(Name): … No.
Zoro: HOW?!
Nami taught them a few tricks on lock-picking and stuff related to it just so they could write about it, it comes in handy since they get kidnapped/captured a lot by small time pirates, thugs, and the navy at one point
Example:
Usopp: WHERE WERE YOU!?
(Name): Some assholes decided to grab me in an ally and tie me up. Apparently they wanted to send you guys a ransom. Nothing too big.
Usopp: … EXCUSE ME?!
They scurry around the Sunny following Luffy because he’s the most chaotic mess out of everyone and they NEED CONTENT*
*AKA Luffy is a big source of inspiration with all the antics he gets into
(Name) gets lost easily when writing, so they are often in the “Oh Shit They’re Lost Again!” Club with Zoro*
*Sanji despises this with a BURNING PASSION, but at least (Name) has a sense of direction… Kinda.
(Name) isn’t really a fighter, but raises HELL with daggers and can turn any pencil into a Mrs./Mr. Stabby Stabby
“I may not be able to kill you but I can still cause pain!”
-Speaking of pencils they prefer mechanical ones-
General Relationships
Franky usually goes to them for ideas when he gets stuck on what to make next, Usopp does this too
Robin and (Name) are book buddies, they read a wide range of genres, from Fiction and NonFiction to just random diaries they find on the ground, they’ll even read encyclopedias about any subject and discuss them out in the open
Sometimes the subjects are a bit… NSFW. So they are very very VERY VERY careful not to discuss those things around the boys. ESPECIALLY NOT AROUND SANJI.*
*Chopper made sure to stress this after last time, can’t argue against the doctor’s orders
Chopper has lent a few medical books to the two for (Name)’s research, as since (Name) is a writer they need a lot of resources so their writing is in tip top shape
If Brook is writing a new song and needs a little help with the lyrics, he often asks for poems written by (Name) to help
Jimbe and (Name) are also pretty cool with each other too, as Jimbe has experienced a lot of things and knows a bit about a few different cultures of various islands. They also have pretty in depth conversations about war and peace, which most of the Crew finds a bit difficult to follow at times
Jimbe also teaches (Name) how to defend themselves, Zoro and Sanji help them too by teaching them a few moves, but Jimbe is (Name)’s main teacher
Chopper and (Name) don’t see each other too often in the Medical Ward, but they do see each other on the deck a lot when Chopper is hanging/playing with Luffy.
Chopper will sometimes take a break from playing around and just sit next to (Name). He’ll ask a few questions about what they are writing and if they need any more books to read
Usopp and (Name) often do makeshift Arts and Crafts, with Chopper, Brook, and Robin joining in every now and then. Luffy also joins in too at times, this is one of the few moments the crew can get him to sit still
When (Name) is tired or overwhelmed they often hang out with Zoro, Robin is their second choice, Sanji is their third
Zoro is their chill out with person/nap buddy, the two get along pretty well in this respect, as nothing beats a good nap
Robin is great for some silent time as well, as she is a bit more understanding about wanting quiet time, but also not wanting to be alone
Sanji is usually willing to make a small snack for (Name) to nibble on, especially if they are anxious, silence between the two is always pleasant, especially if Sanji is cooking something that smells really good!
As mentioned earlier, Luffy’s antics provide a lot of inspiration for (Name)’s writing, but Luffy also likes dragging (Name) everywhere* to see what ideas they come up with, therefore, they are pretty close!
*This also helps to remind (Name) to live in the moment every now and then, so they welcome it, besides, Franky designed them a Luffy Antic Proof waist bag for their writing tools and journals, something they desperately needed.
(Name) stores things in Brook’s Skull that they don’t want Luffy finding
Exploring
Zoro is (Name)’s favorite exploration partner when they have nothing they want to see on an island, he finds the weirdest places when he gets lost!
Sanji and Nami are (Name)’s go to people when they want to explore a town’s marketplace
Robin is (Name)’s go to person when they want to explore old places like ruins or abandoned areas
Usopp and Franky are the people (Name) goes to when they want to explore the general town area, they are usually pulled every which way by the children, who always seem to want to show the two men around
Luffy is (Name)’s go to person when wanting to interact with people, as Luffy always garners a lot of attention from various people with his antics
Jimbe is the one (Name) goes to when wanting to explore beaches or areas with a lot of water, this way Jimbe gets a good swim in and (Name) can research water life without getting wet!
========================
Mun: I might add more stuff to this another time, but for now I’m satisfied!

Who do you think are the top 5 most feminist boys in One Piece? For me I think it's(in no particular order): Law, Katakuri, Ace/Sabo/Luffy(all 3 are tied, Luffy is kinda oblivious to it, Sabo is the sweetest gentleman, & Ace is kinda shy and tsundere-ish but he treats girls like they should be treated), Sanji, and Shanks
Hmm...My top 5 are Franky, Usopp, Katakuri, Luffy, and...hmm, I'll say a tie between Zoro/Jinbe/Law/Sanji (to an extent)
I feel like if someone sat Sanji down and explained why the whole heart-eyes and extreme, EXTREME chivalry makes some women uncomfortable, I think he'd be one of the biggest feminists (if not THE biggest). I just don't think anyone's actually said it to him, lol. Like his interactions with women over time have gotten less and less "like that", especially his interactions with Pudding during the events of WCI. He doesn't instantly go heart-eyes, and he just acted...idk, more mature about it I guess lol

ok here’s the long awaited post on straw hats’ relationship with dali!!
under the cut tho
LUFFY met dali first in impel down and then she helped him out at marineford, so he knows she’s chill. initially he refers to her as “okama-nee-san” (or “gay big sis” in the english version) but once she hangs out with the straw hats enough he remembers her proper name. bottom line though he considers her a good friend.
ZORO honestly doesn’t trust her as far as he can throw her, half because she worked with caesar clown and half because her main weapon is a sword but she doesn’t really care about being a swordsman (or in her case swordswoman) the way he does. for that matter he doesn’t trust dr. coconut either bc it’s literally alive and keeps snipping at his swords whenever it’s close. but above all he trusts luffy’s judgement and if luffy says she’s cool then he’ll tolerate her.
NAMI definitely thinks of dali as the big sister, probably even moreso than luffy does, but is also probably the first one on the crew that dali goes to when she needs help with some “girl thing” she doesn’t have much experience with, so the big sister relationship is kind of a two way thing really. also nami is definitely the biggest shipper of dali/robin on the crew.
USOPP definitely vibes w/ dali’s fun loving attitude and she loves listening to his tall tales. honestly usopp & dali would just be fast friends without any issues really. he probably sees her as a big sister just like luffy and nami do.
SANJI doesn’t necessarily like dali, but he trusts her insofar as he knows she’s not up to shit. they actually met on momoiro island during the timeskip when dali returned to the island with ivankov after the war, and once sanji discovered that despite being the only actual woman on the island dali is also a lesbian he quickly developed a bit of a rivalry with her over cooking (he’s a master chef but she has more experience with making the okamas’ signature attack cuisine, so nobody can agree whose is better). needless to say he wasn’t exactly jumping with joy when “another woman” got on board the sunny and he saw it was her.
CHOPPER would probably at first be upset w/ dali for working with caesar clown on his inhumane experiments (which is fair tbh) but once he learns that it was more that she just didn’t rly have anywhere else to go in the new world he’d probably understand. i can also see him being interested in her transition from a medical perspective, but i don’t think she’d be too happy letting him explore that? aside from these bits of friction tho dali and chopper would get along fine
FRANKY... goddamn franky and dali would be an absolute delight together. i can totally imagine her joining him in yelling SUPER and doing the pose with him. just being weirdos together. i don’t rly have anything to add here other than it’d probably make robin smile a lot
BROOK is probably one of dali’s favorite straw hats honestly. like it goes robin, then franky, then a tie between nami and luffy, and then brook. she loves his musical stylings and honestly enjoys his skull jokes. their initial meeting was definitely surprising for brook though because he asked to see dali’s panties (as usual with him and women) and she told him she wasn’t wearing any (which is true cause she wears briefs lmao). so he was definitely taken aback there
i don’t know enough about jinbe yet to comment on him accurately
#just some musings don't mind me#ship: marigold life#tagging that just so it shows up when i'm looking for dali lore#but also there's occasional mentions of the ship in there so it counts

Character War: Zoro vs Sanji
Trying to put my own bias aside, and because I’m bored here in quarantine, I was thinking about how I could fairly break down parts of Zoro and Sanji’s characters and compare them. I want to see if I can analytically decide which character is more well realised or well written (just because there’s always that rivalry between both the characters and the fans, you often can’t help but ask yourself these kinds of questions).
EDIT: OH, and SPOILERS if you wish to read this and are not up to date
If the question was “Who’s the more popular character?” though, Zoro wins hands down, no contest.
So, I broke the two characters down into categories:
– Design
– Fighting Style
– Fights/Achievements
– Coolness
– Backstory
– Gag
– Development
Design: Neither Zoro or Sanji have designs that particularly stand out to me, not within their own universe or in anime in general. Seriously, think of some crazy-ass looking characters you've seen in other anime and Zoro and Sanji simply pale in comparison. Heck, they pale in comparison to some of their fellow crewmates (Usopp, Chopper, Franky, Brook etc.) and over time their designs have probably been... how to put this... made more attractive as time goes on? Cause you know, you gotta let the female fans have some eye candy too. And with attractiveness tends to come more “normalness” (not a word but whatever) cause you can't go too crazy with the overall design in case it becomes off-putting. The only thing that really stands out for Zoro and Sanji respectively is hair colour and eyebrows.
– Still if I had to declare one of them the winner... I'd have to say Sanji, just for his more 'unique' eyebrows. We've seen plenty of anime/manga featuring characters with hair colours that match every colour in the rainbow, so it's commonplace for someone to have green or pink hair and no-one really bats an eye. Peculiar eyebrows however are less common, although not rare (as far as I can tell), but for anime fans, it's something I think people still instantly notice more so than a character's hair colour. So.... point to SANJI! But barely, and it’s not much of a win.
Sanji 1/0 Zoro
Fighting Style: Again, neither a sword fighting style or kicking fight style is exactly uncommon, but I am edging towards Sanji's fighting style and I'll try to justify why, even if it is due to my own personal preferences. To me, sword fighting is often the go-to 'bad-ass' method of fighting, cause, come on, SWORDS ARE COOL (can't help but think about the overwhelming popularity of Pokemon Sword vs Pokemon Shield for example). Sword fights/fighters are iconic and that’s the issue at times for me because I feel like I've seen enough sword fights at this point, and not just in anime. So, while they're fun, their overexposure makes me appreciate something different a lot more.
– To me, Sanji's style has a bit more 'kick' to it (oh yes!) and his reasons for using a kicking style are a bit more unique and interesting as well (being that he’s a cook and can’t damage his hands, the tools to his craft). His style is fun to watch, requires a bit more imagination when designing his moves, but it also has a strange kind of elegance to it which I appreciate. Not that sword fighting can't look elegant (Hello, ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’), but I love that people often joke that some shots of Sanji make it look like he could be a dancer which I find amusing, because it’s true. Plus, I admire the fact that he's the only Straw-hat that fights without either a magic power/devil fruit or a literal weapon (though he has now grown accustomed to the raid suit, so…). But, for the majority of the story so far, the dude has just used his legs and that’s it. And is the 3rd (or fourth if you count Jinbei now) most powerful member of the crew, and still impressively strong overall amongst a massive cast of crazy powerful characters. Also, dude can fly. Actually fly. He can fight in the skies, sing “Walking in the Air” and it would not seem completely ridiculous. So, people reading this may not agree, but, point to SANJI!
Sanji 2/0 Zoro
Fights/Achievements: I feel that most fans prefer Zoro's fights as he tends to take on the second strongest villains of each arc (with Luffy obviously taking on the strongest), which is automatic epicness. I know some fans even argue that Zoro would have no problems taking on the strongest villains in Luffy's place anyway, though I would disagree simply due to the fact that if Luffy were weaker/equal in strength to Zoro then why would he even be captain? The guy who's gonna be the Pirate King can hardly be weaker than one of his own crewmates, it ain't right!
– Anyway, Zoro's battles tend to be straight-up badass one-on-one feats of strength, while Sanji's can be a mix of badass and sometimes plain goofy (thinking of Sanji vs Mr. 2 here or Sanji vs Wanze). And I do think Oda makes it clear that Zoro is the more powerful of the two, making his wins a lot more impressive, awe-inspiring, and show how physically far he’ll go in order to succeed (man should really have no blood left in his body). For me personally though, I often found many of Zoro’s fights a bit dull, like his fight with Mr. 1 for e.g. (ha, ironic), and when I watch his big battle with Kaku, while I like Kaku as a character, I had a hard time taking the image of Zoro fighting a sword-wielding Giraffe seriously. Sanji fighting a wolf with a moustache often looks goofy as well, but at least wolves come across as a bit more threatening (unless you have been on a scary Safari tour o__O…).
– Alas, I would give Zoro the point for fights simply because I know how much the fandom appreciates them and the effort he puts in, BUT.... as for achievements... Maybe I'm being sneaky with this, but for me, while Sanji's fights maybe aren't considered as iconic as Zoro's, his actions towards helping the crew solidified Sanji's usefulness to the crew as not only a fighter but a tactician, and without him at a certain point, there wouldn't be any epic Zoro fights to appreciate. Sanji's rescue of the crew in Alabasta was pretty damn awesome, the fact they wouldn't have even reached Alabasta in the first place if Sanji hadn't gotten a hold of the Alabasta eternal log pose is hilarious, his saving of Usopp and Nami in Skypeia, his enabling of the Merry to escape without being blown to smithereens in the Enies Lobby arc, it's all just undeniably awesome. And to me, just as equally iconic and important as Zoro's fights, sooooo... I'm calling it a TIE!
Sanji 3/1 Zoro
Coolness: HAHA! Ok, come on, I love Sanji, but Oda's portrayal of him can get a bit ridiculous at times and sometimes rob him of his dignity, whereas with Zoro, Oda really doesn't humiliate him that much. He's usually always cool and epic and never seems to leave a negative impression in the eyes of fans. So, no question about it, point to ZORO!
Sanji 3/2 Zoro
Backstory: Ok, maybe it's just me, but I don't think many are gonna argue that Sanji has the better backstory? There's just more of it, it's better fleshed out, it establishes his character relationships and motives far better, it's just... better? Zoro's backstory perhaps is still to be further developed, but as it stands...
– Zoro = Wants to become the greatest swordsman because of a promise he made to his dead rival/childhood friend. Nice, but doesn’t feel very original or special. Where did he come from before all that? Where/who is Zoro's family? Why did he want to be a swordsman in the first place? Cause it's cool? It just leaves me feeling annoyed because there’s these gaps and things left unanswered within his story and I can't tell if Oda's even going to give us any answers! But with a possibility that Zoro is from Wano, maybe something is eventually going to be explained? Still, I feel like Oda needs to be careful he doesn't make a repetitive tragic backstory, cause I worry that at some point he's going to run out of ideas on how to make each new backstory more uniquely depressing than the last, to the point where it's gonna be a 'been there, done that' kind of deal. Or maybe he’ll actually reveal that Zoro has a DUN-DUN-DUN living mother. I mean, that’s rarely done in this series, so that would be pretty shocking.
– Sanji = Born as a quadruplet (still so weird to me) to a royal family, kind mother but douche-bag father. Mother dies saving Sanji's humanity because said douche-bag father violated mother and children by tampering with them before birth in order to make his children into sociopathic weapons. Sanji grew up emotionally and physically abused by father and brothers because he had kindness and compassion, and the abuse got so bad that he was even locked in a jail cell with an iron mask on his face because his father was ashamed of his existence. Mother, of course, dies, leaving Sanji with only an older sister to turn to, who could only be nice to him in secret and laugh at him in public. He decided to become a chef during imprisonment due to his mother giving him the only praise he had ever received and he enjoyed making her happy. Finally escapes douche-bag family thanks to decent sister freeing him, but only after promising to never admit he was related to his douche-bag father, further destroying him emotionally. Next, the ship he worked on was destroyed in a tidal wave, killing all his friends at the time, and left him alone on a rock with little food and a pirate who recently kicked the crap out of him. Went months without food only to find out that the pirate he hated had given him all the food, forcing him to cannibalize himself to survive. And all this happened before he was just 10 years old. So, from then on Sanji grew up with a fixed dedication/appreciation for food, but a clearly messed up self-image due to years of abuse and being told he was a failure by his biological father. Not to mention the man who saved his life, while a good man at heart, kinda has a messed up moral compass of his own, and kinda f**ked up Sanji's head in his own way (seriously, Sanji can't bring himself to hit a woman to save his own life cause he can't bear disappointing/disobeying Zeff, the man who actually loved him like a son? Jeez).
– For real, Sanji's story is a doozy, and Zoro's just doesn't compare (at least not at the moment). Sorry, but clear point goes to SANJI!
Sanji 4/2 Zoro
Gag: Possibly debatable again, but I honestly do prefer (and the fandom majority seem to prefer) Zoro's whole getting lost gag to Sanji being a looney tunes pervert (some of the faces Oda draws, I swear!) I don't mind anime perverts so long as they have some substance to their character, but Oda places ‘Pervert Sanji’ in some situations where you're left screaming, “NOW'S NOT THE TIME DAMMIT!” Some moments can be thrown off kilter by the perverseness and/or fanservice to the point where you're just left face-palming. Arguably, the same can be said for Zoro, especially with his wandering off and getting lost in Wano right before Luffy faced off against Kaido (not that Zoro could do much about that anyway if he hadn't gotten lost), but just how easily he gets lost is so ridiculous that it veers right around from being annoying and returns straight back to being hilarious because of how mind-boggling it is. xD So, point to ZZZZZORO!
Sanji 4/3 Zoro
Development: Once again, another debatable one. Too debatable! There's no way around it; some may say Sanji's ‘self-rediscovery’ arc in Whole Cake Island made him the better developed character (or didn’t develop him at all) and some will say that Zoro's “Nothing happened” moment is the pinnacle of character development in One Piece, and to me, too much of it comes down to preference and I find it hard to justify why one is potentially better developed than the other. Especially when there could still be further development for them to come. So.... yeah, another TIE!
Sanji 5/4 Zoro
So, there it is, I killed some great time in quarantine with this(!) Maybe there’s more ‘categories’ I could have added, but with what I came up with, I really did try not to be bias here. I do think it’s important to have a character that can hit ‘all the beats’, deliver in terms of action scenes, comedy and the emotional hard-hitting moments too. I can’t help but appreciate the male characters who are more in touch with their emotions and show vulnerability, which is what I appreciate with Sanji, and why I probably don’t connect with Zoro as much as I’d like to?
Going through all of this however has made me think that I'm actually fairer than I thought I was. No? Yes? Close call anyway.

I'm not even sure how to put it into words. It's just always been there for me ever since I was little. It made me find so many friends and meet so many awesome people. It's my home, my safe haven, the place I can always return to. It got me out of one of my darkest places last year (when I finally found back to it after having strayed from it for a few years). It's my anchor, and a way to connect with other people. Most of all, it's the most amazing story I have ever experienced, and has given me so many role models and things & words to live by.

603-604: "Launching the Counter Attack! Luffy and Law's Great Escape!" and "Get to Building R! The Pirate Alliance's Great Advance!"
DING, DING, DING! It’s round two. And you know Luffy ain’t playing this time.
Not a huge amount happened over episodes 603 and 604. Still, the episodes were essential. The story needed a transition phase to tie up the plot threads and set everything up for the final push against Caesar.
Everyone is safe inside the lab, the Strawhats are all accounted for (sans Chopper, who is still in Caesar’s lounge), Luffy is in an alliance with Trafalgar Law and - I never thought I’d say this - Vice-Admiral Smoker of the Marines!
Actually, what the hell am I talking about?
Loads of big things happened.
Including this sweet and juicy nugget of off-island context that has me rubbing my hands with glee.
Juicy Opening Reveal Alert!
Attention: Kidd, Hawkins and Scratchman Apoo are discussing an alliance. This is not a drill.
It started out fairly innocuously. I say “fairly”. The Brokers and Dodgy Characters of the OPverse were kicking back and watching Caesar’s madness play out. Pekoms and Tamago had some lines, so I focused in on them.
“How did those big names get caught by Caesar?” Pekoms asked. “So that’s where they are now. What should we do?”
“We wait a bit and see how things play out,” Tamago answered.
This was a teeny tiny scene. But it was interesting. Why? It revealed Pekoms and Tamago know Caesar by name. Maybe Caesar introduced himself to his audience and I missed it, but if he didn’t, then that’s interesting.
After that, the action switched back to Kidd, who had also been watching Caesar’s broadcast. Kidd has earned himself a 470 million bounty, which is impressive. His right hand man, Killer, has a 200 million bounty. Less impressive. Kidd seemed happy Luffy had finally made some moves. He switched off the feed. “You’re not the kind of guy who wants to play an arms dealer, are you Killer?”
Not sure what Kidd meant by that. Does he mean Killer’s not interested in what Caesar has to offer? Or that he doesn’t want to get involved with an obvious head case like Caesar?
They walked off through their extra edgy hideout complete with gloomy paint job and atmospheric candelabras (lol). They discussed Law and his shenanigans on Punk Hazard. Kidd couldn’t believe they were all there together. He thought Law had lost his mind when he became the World Government’s lapdog. But now... Law was definitely up to something. Kidd does not want to fall behind, so they’d have to make a move too.
Upon opening the door an explosion boomed them right in the face. It was Scratchman! At first I thought, is this an assassination attempt? Then the camera panned to Hawkins and I thought.... okay, so a team-assassination attempt?
Nope. Killer had called them to Kidd’s hideout to discuss forming an alliance.
This is cool. I like this seemingly random development. Oda has made a good move here showing the other rookies in the Worst Generation are also working hard behind the scenes. They’re in the New World now. The Yonko are a-callin’. If they don’t team up, they’ll be destroyed. (R.I.P. Gangster Pirate dude and dinosaur guy. Still not sure what Urouge is up to.)
I kind of hope their alliance works a little more smoothly than the Strawhat/Heart Pirate alliance does at the moment. xD
Just Get Out of the Damned Cage, I Don’t Even Care Anymore...
There are a few teething problems but I’m sure Law has now realised that Luffy is a major loose cannon and will learn how to point him in the right direction. Maybe. At some point. In the distant future. (Ahh, that golden moment when Robin and Franky straight up told Law not to turn his back on Luffy because he’ll be off like a rocket, yelling their secret plans at the top of his lungs.)
Law’s cunning plan from the episode 402 cliffhanger was revealed. It was surprisingly simple and dangerous. But then if it’s not dangerous, is it really a good One Piece plan?
Absolutely not.
Law asked if anyone could set the nearby broken ship on fire. Franky obliged.(That fireball was badass, by the way. Just need that on record.) Once the rising smoke had obscured Caesar’s view of the cage, Law revealed his sneaky ruse. While he had freeloaded at Caesar’s house, he swapped most of the seastone chains with normal ones. Law broke free from his and freed Luffy, Robin and Franky.
Once he had failed to convince Luffy to stop cheering like a madman, Law dealt with a spot of business.
Smoker and Tashigi. They knew too much. They knew Joker’s real identity. He had their destiny in his hands. I knew he wouldn’t kill them (not evidence for that, I just didn’t think Oda would go there) but I was not prepared for what would happen next.
Law unshambled them and struck a deal: he would spare their lives because if they made it back to Marine HQ it would make life difficult for Vergo. In exchange, Smoker and Tashigi were to FORGET everything they had heard about Law and Joker. This was not a favour. It was a condition of their release.
Now, this had me bewildered. Why, if Law is no longer working for Doflamingo, is he still protecting the guy? If Doflamingo goes down, then surely Vergo will also go down and the whole operation will fall to pieces? Unless what you guys hinted at is bigger than I thought and Doflamingo has so many side hustles that some Marines being mad at him is small potatoes.
At any rate, the deal was accepted, despite Smoker’s pride, because of Tashigi’s sense of duty and practicality overcame it. She basically said, “Yes, untie us for the love of god. We need to live because if we don’t, we can’t save our people from Vergo and we can’t rescue Caesar’s experiment kiddies!”
So the deal was done. The neatness of Law’s plan was totally ruined when Luffy bent the bars of the cage and pinged out in a fit of enthusiasm. Then Franky basically turned to Law and said, “Yeah, I’m gonna pass on the plan. I’m off to look after Sunny.”
Then he farted himself out of the plot.
I think I just made a new sentence there.
Deal done, Law roomed them all to the back door, whereupon the sneaked inside the lab and pulled a Very Important Lever that meant the Fodder Marines outside did not die a horrible, painful death from Caesar’s chemical weapon.
Yay!
And there was this great, dramatic reveal moment.
Look. Look at this Beautiful Shot
While Luffy, Law and Smoker stood with their backs to Caesar’s bemused minions like total badasses, the poison gas rolled over the island.
Zoro, Sanji, Brook and Foxfire still hadn’t caught up to the dragon. However, Sanji because super motivated by tits and found a sudden burst of speed. The only thing was, the dragon wasn’t quite good enough on its own. It was tiring too.
Luckily, Nami and Usopp rode up on the back of Brownbeard and caught Brook just as he fell off the dragon. They all leapt on Brownbeard’s back (dragon included) and galloped to the front door.
Which was rapidly closing, as the Marines had all scuttled safely inside!
Indoors, the Marines squinted. What was that white, powdery cloud in the distance approaching at speed?
It was the rest of the Strawhats trying really damned hard not to die.
Zoro and Kinemon teamed up to slash the doors and force their way in. I thought it was majorly dumb at first (to be fair, so did most of the other characters). But the Fodder Marines patched up the hole with a speed that makes me think they’ve missed their calling and should be flipping houses instead.
Still think the gas would probably seep through those gaps but maybe Caesar’s got some wicked air filtration system going on. I mean, it is a state of the art lab specialising in chemical weapons research.
Have I Left the Stove On?
There was a moment after the Strawhats reunited where the action cut to a shot of the devastation Caesar’s weapon had wreaked across Punk Hazard.
If you thought the island was screwed before, it’s beyond help now. Utterly Pompeii’d. Every inch of it is covered in petrifying, poisonous ash. There is nowhere on Punk Hazard that is now habitable. Caesar took immense pride in this achievement. Some people just love destroying stuff, right? The only thing that survived outside was a single DDM protected by a bubble for Caesar’s broadcast.
Brook’s ghostly form confirmed it. Going outside would be a Bad Idea.
Inside, a lot of guns were pointed at the Strawhats and Brownbeard (Brownbeard was just pleased the Marines had remembered his name. Awww...you’re infamous now, Brownbeard. Just like Luffy. Enjoy it!)
Once the plot threads and outstanding issues of the whole reuniting scene were dealt with (Law unshambled Nami and Sanji and also told Smoker not to let his men stand in the way of the pirates), the plan to fight back against Caesar and escape the hell of Punk Hazard began.
As Law had been a guest at Caesar’s Weird Hotel, he knew the layout of the labs. They were in the foyer of Building A. To escape, they must force a path through to Building B, the large central area. There, they would find a gate at the back leading to Building R and a door marked R-66. Behind that door, is a passage to the sea that would be unaffected by any poison gas.
Law declared he’d rather not have to create a massacre, but could only give everyone about two hours. To anyone staying longer than that, Law could not guarantee their safety.
And the idiots still tried to attack the Strawhats, so I don’t have much hope for them.
One of the most interesting scenes here was the one between Zoro and Luffy. While fighting Marines, Usopp updated Zoro on what had happened. Caesar had soloed everyone with his de-oxygenation trick. Even Luffy had fallen for it. Zoro took that hard. He had flashbacks to Sabaody, to everything he had trained for in the past two years. What the hell? How could Luffy just lose like that?
Luffy (who had hatched a secret plan with Robin I know nothing about yet because Oda did let us hear it), was heading for the next room. Zoro caught him before Luffy barged his way through.
“LUFFY! GET A GRIP. THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF THE NEW WORLD!”
And Luffy replied, “YEAH, SORRY. I WON’T LET MY GUARD DOWN AGAIN.”
Then he tried out a hilariously dumb UFO move on the Fodder Marines and Zoro performed a mental facepalm.
I liked that glimpse of the relationship between Luffy and Zoro there. Sometimes, even though Zoro has his moments, he’s always there to give Luffy a kick up the arse and deliver some home truths on occasion. And because Luffy respects Zoro, he will take them on board and acknowledge them. But of course he’ll still have a damned good time and try out dumb moves on fodders because when else can you do that, am I right?
He Did Not Leave The Stove On
In the lounge, Caesar was about to take a special delivery from the Bad News Fairy.
One of the nice things about Caesar is that he is not a total dumbass. He looked at that cage. He noticed there were no petrified bodies clawing at the front door. He *knew* something wasn’t quite right. He asked Monet and Vergo. Vergo actually hypothesised that the Strawhats had broken free and helped the Fodder Marines escape too. But Caesar ignored him.
Then the Bad News Fairy arrived. A minion burst through the door. “Master! All of the enemies have entered the lobby with Strawhat Luffy in the lead!”
You all probably remember Spandam and Enel and those golden freakout faces. Caesar is giving them a run for their money. I love how he can shift seamlessly from twirling round the room in joyful glee, to “wait a minute....” suspicion, followed by shrieking outrage.
Two in-universe hours, Caesar. That’s how long you have.
Can’t wait to see what nasty tricks you’ll pull in your increasingly futile attempts to cling to power in Punk Hazard.
And they will be futile, because if there’s one thing we all know about Luffy, it’s that he always, always learns from his mistakes.
He is going to kick your ass and kidnap you.
At least he recycles?
